Anime of the day: Day 365: One 2021 anime for each genre.

  This weekend was filled with pretty much nothing but big news from Anime Japan 2021, and unless you were keeping your eyes glued to your screen, you might have missed out on a few key items. There’s going to be a 2nd season of  “How Not to Summon a Demon Lord “ (Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu)

I really loved the first season as its just the type of anime I find myself drawn to. I personally like super strong/overpowered mc’s. It especially is great when the main characetr is “evil” based, even if they aren’t really. If you liked the anime “Overlord” or “The Devil is a Part-timer” you will like this as well!

Last Time on Grand Theft Auto:

Tsubasa recovers from the world’s gayest coma as Hibiki trains her mind while putting aside such silly concepts as “the love of my life” and “literally being with my girlfriend.” After cooling Miku’s paranoia with her brand new washboard abs, Genjuro prepares the team for a pizza run across the city to deliver a dangerously hot pizza pie named Durandal. Chaos emerges as the delivery is intercepted by a rival pizza gang, lead by the nefarious Gremlin known as Yukine Chris. But, before the pizza could be claimed, dedicated pizza deliverywoman Hibiki not only steals it back, but eats it, harnessing the power of the pizza and unleashing cheesy pasta based chaos around the location.

Ryoko is so into it that she taps into her superpowers and protects Hibiki after she passes out. The delivery is considered a failure, and no tip is given.

And so, the journey continues...

Meanwhile, in this weird, tricked out mansion...

Chris meditates on some water metaphors of her own.

“that pacman colored freak took only touching it to activate a cheap ass french sword that gave her weird demon powers and its taken me YEARS to use this dumb stripper outfit and the funny cane that goes with it, what the FUCK man, what even is my life”

“maybe... maybe honeybaked hams ARE that powerful...”

“NO! turkey is the superior meat! it’s healthier, lower in fat, and way more tasty! fuck you! i’ll get my goddamned revenge!”

Chris begins musing about Fine’s motivations to capture Hibiki; during these, we’re treated to some brief image flashbacks of Chris’s life.

Suddenly, those jokes about food are a lot less funny.

It doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together as to why this young woman is helping a strange nudist dominatrix spread alien terror across the city of mumblednoises, Japan. She doesn’t really have many an option on the table. It’s either help the weird kinkster with her plans, or die.

Despite everything, she has a high opinion of Fine, for the same reasons someone might have a high opinion of a television show if it were the only show they were ever exposed to. She is deeply afraid of being alone again, because she has lived through such misery that the very thought of existing out in the cold again terrifies the shit out of her.

The Sun rises casually amidst Chris’s thoughts.

“ah shit. it just hit me. i literally have spent the entire night standing here instead of actually going the fuck to sleep. goddamnit.”

On such a devious metaphorical twist, Fine stands behind her as the Sun rises.

“yeah, jokes on you. i couldnt sleep for shit either. turns out, all nude, no blankets? in japan? real bad idea.”

“thats why i decided to GO GOTH, babey! whattaya think? do i give those witchy vibes, huh? real ‘black magic woman’ santana hours? feeling cute, gonna head out with the girls and summon satan in the woods kinda aesthetic looking shit? come on, be real with me. does this not look baller?”

“you look like morticia decided to go to the grocery store to buy some wonder bread, but other than that, its a step up from your usual pussy out attitude, so sure”

“you know i decided to get some brain cells on loan from Brain Cells R Us, and ive been thinking this solomon cane stuff is solomon lame. i dont need this dumb oversized harry potter cosplay prop to get shit done. also, murder is... sorta bad? im still trying to get the brain cell stuff down.”

“i can punch just as good as goody two shoes if not better.”

“lol go do it then champ, im gonna go cut down a forest of trees now”

And so, they both just kinda... stand there.

“QUACK, NEXT SCENE, QUACK”

Meanwhile, Tsubasa is rapidly trying to rehabilitate herself from her wounds like walking like a madman, her IV drip presumably filled with Taco Bell brand Doritos Locos Tacos super spicy nacho cheese. Taco Bell: Live Mas.

“im gonna clear every fucking taco bell in your goddamned memory, kanade”

“think outside the bun! wait, what? that was a taco bell slogan? ah fuck it, im dead. what nerd’s gonna try and correct me?”

“i would, kanade. i am that nerd.”

Tsubasa is hell bent to try and understand Kanade’s simple philosophy of helping others selflessly. Unfortunately, when Kanade died, she took all the brain cells between them in the process, so coming to this epiphany is a work in progress.

“listen its a fucking miracle you are 1. alive and 2. able to have your blood run on the garbage melted plastic taco bell tries to dupe people into believing is cheese so why dont you just lie down and think of better franchises to eat from”

“no! you dont understand! taco bell is a franchise of the PEOPLE! their meals are cheap and filling and- and the chicken quesadillas are of good quality for their price! i promised kanade- my vow to the death. taco bell... ergh... now and forever... i-”

“wait. my gay senses are tingling.”

It’s Hibiki, probably running track with Miku.

“oh yeah... her... i should probably apologize to her. about trying to kill her. and then letting her almost be kidnapped. and just giving her a general hard time about something that wasn’t explained to her in the slightest for months. she’s a good bean.”

Tsubasa proceeds to never canonically apologize to Hibiki throughout the entirety of all 4 seasons of Symphogear.

Look at em run. See, it’s a metaphor, because they haven’t communicated yet and they’re running from their problems! But they’re running towards Tsubasa, who is part of the representative problem these two share! Clearly literary genius.

It’s like someone went halfway into writing an NTR plotline and went “maybe this isn’t a good idea to market our songs on.”

Hibiki is still thinking about her Hellshake Yano moment with Durandal. Mainly how she nearly killed someone with it. Hibiki is very starkly in the “killing is bad, and wrong” camp of morality, a trait currently unique to her that she’ll wind up teaching literally everyone else she meets one way or another.

Some could argue the L stands for Lydian, and they’re wrong. It stands for Lesbian.

“that was one hell of a run, hibiki! im pooped! why dont we go to the locker room and call it a day, have a nice shower and just get some dinn-”

“this is the last straw.

i clean your plates. i cook your food. we eat, shit, shower, and sleep in the same FUCKING area, and this is how you repay me? huh? you think being your wife is easy shit, hibiki? half the damn time you’re running off like clark kent having food poisoning and the other half ive gotta babysit you, the emotional equivalent of a preteen clown, to make sure your life doesn’t self destruct harder than Atlantis sinking into the ocean. im done! i am DONE. im reopening my tinder, im slamming my ass BACK into okcupid, and im gonna date some CUTE ACADEMY GIRLS that treat me BETTER than this ABSOLUTE BETRAYAL OF HEART AND IM NOT CRYING I SWEAR ITS JUST THE SWEAT IN MY EYES AND HIBIKI HOW COULD YOU-”

“oh yeah, sure! hey, lemme just do a few more laps, ive just been feeling judgmental about myself and my figure, you know? gotta push myself further...”

The girls bathe together, as good friends typically do.

“hey you ever notice the showers here have like, weird psuedo-luxurious minipools to bathe in? like, how rich is this school?”

“whoever made this place is either rich or a pervert. or both, probably!”

Miku remarks that Hibiki has changed since she’s entered Lydian, in a manner most unheterosexual.

“oh FUCK you really DO have washboard abs now! ohhh my god.”

“damn, those abs were heavenly. let’s get pancakes later.”

I won’t screenshot it but something to note is that they actually wear each other’s corresponding underwear colors (or even, if you want to examine more closely, each other’s underwear). Here’s an equivalent scene to give you the mental image.

This is the face of someone who knows what they want and already have it. Such is the power of Kohinata Miku.

Meanwhile, Genjuro comes back from the funeral of the guy the Americans filled violently and with impunity.

“yo that all black look looks baller. i should borrow that look... id look pretty gothy in it.”

“ryoko i sympathize with your sharp, fashionista eye but this was for a funeral, i was paying my respects to the dead. thats the usual dress code.”

“didnt know they updated that. i remember back in my day, we just went in white garments and chanted in latin!”

“shit was fire. literally. lots of funeral pyres.”

“lmao ryoko buddy your larping sessions arent actual history”

“hey dont shit on larping around me. i used to be a professional larper while i was majoring in acting. helped really sell my career when i had to pretend to slay the Dark Lord Jyarloen atop the mountain of skulls in Hargobor after my family was killed by the Dark Army. asshole.”

“haha yeah, larping, thats cool yeah, i do that

“oh yeah? you wanna join my larping session sometime then? we’re gonna do an ancient babylon plot thats inspired by some anime, itll be fun”

“i know im dressed for a funeral but id like to not part ways with my dignity yet. besides, we’ve got serious shit to talk about. basically, we’re on the verge of getting shitcanned.”

As it turns out, the death of this politician removed the last obstacle of opposition to maintain the 2nd Division, as the average criticism against the 2nd Division is “why are we funding this mystery division when we don’t know what they do”. Of course, the sensible idea for an organization that defeats the Noise is to declassify it, given people of different jobs and positions have physically seen the Symphogear in action, but you know. “Oh no, the other governments will come after us” stick gets shaken.

“im in a union. i know my rights. you’re not taking my acting job here away from me.”

“im not going back to be a preschool teacher. its been ten year. the bites on my ankles still havent healed...”

“yeah man, shit sucks ass. i cant fund my adoption habits if im fired.”

Look at these cinematic parallels. Symphogear truly is a franchise made by someone living in 3030.

“worst part is the new minister is super into america. he’s a... westaboo.”

“a westaboo?”

“westaboo?”

“did he just unironically say westaboo”

“he said westaboo. oh my god. this is the hell timeline.”

“i mean people kept calling me that for worshipping all these fighting flicks so i guess it fit? i dont see the problem here”

Meanwhile, in Lydian Academy...

“so it hit me, right? we’re ALL girls. and we ALL sing. now, humor me a moment. what if... what if we’ve all been recruited to potentially be superheroes... through our singing? like, there’s no coincidence that all this shit happens around us, right? and a famous singer LIVES here? i saw the black cars outside! weird shit is happening here- im not even gonna eat the all you can eat bar anymore!”

“kathy there is literally no such thing as superheroes who sing. this place is more likely to be a organ harvesting op than whatever madness you’re saying”

“what? you need me, a singing superhero, to go stop a problem happening underneath the school, a location meant to recruit young women into potentially becoming fellow crime fighting singers?”

“yeah im too busy poppin’ caps in asses so go kick ass in my place”

“sure!”

“.....................................who ya talkin to, hibiki?”

“the boss! gotta go do a thing again...”

“hibiki, i dont like the fact that capitalism is tearing us apart.”

“you’ve gotta join me in the revolution, hibiki. you. me. luxury automated gay space communism. aint it the dream? share my vision, hibiki. its glorious.”

“n... no...? no gay space communism today? well, what about tomorrow? or the next day? or... maybe the next day? baby steps, you say? but, direction action, hibiki! we’ve gotta strike now!”

“it’s okay hibiki. when i take over the world and destroy all first world government leaders, and unite the globe in my encompassing reign and love... ill make sure to spare you, and be my bride to be.”

“thanks miku. im just not ready yet for the globe to burn in an unending ball of fire as the continents fuse into a new utopia composed of our combined wills. also, ive really gotta go, its genuinely an emergency.”

“for the cause!”

“yes hibiki... for the cause...”

Admittedly, you can see the stages of grief Miku goes through when she sees Hibiki say she can’t join her for pancakes. It’s sad. This side story sucks.

Meanwhile, as it turns out, the problem Hibiki needed to resolve was checking on Tsubasa to see if she hadn’t dissolved into Taco Bell brand hot n’ spicy Tabasco sauce.

“god, cant believe taco bell was closed. now i gotta deliver these lame ass flowers”

“cant wait to get threatened again. wonder what she’ll say. ‘hibiki, i should have killed you when i had the chance.’ or ‘you’re so goddamned weak. i could break your spine with my fingernail’, or some other stuff about metaphors. oh, my stops here”

“HEY BITCH WHATS GOOD-”

“HOLY SHIT”

“you are already”

First Impressions - Summer 2018

We’ve got another busy season here, so let’s get right into it.

I won’t be covering Attack on Titan Season 3 or Overlord Season 3, because I haven’t seen either of those shows’ previous seasons, and I also won’t be covering Free! Dive to the Future even though I want to, because Funimation still has yet to release the prequel movie that sets up this third season and I want to go in with full context to something as surprisingly intelligent as this franchise is.

I also won’t cover Sirius the Jaeger, High Score Girl or Back Street Girls because they’ve been doomed by Netflix to not be cared about by people who watch seasonal shows. (This hurts, I was really excited for Sirius.) Zoids Wild went completely unlicensed, but considering the previous show aired on Toonami a thousand years ago, I’ll be keeping an eye on it.

My favorite premiere of the season was Planet With, because pretty much anything that reminds me of Punch Line is probably gonna get a pass in my book, and this brand of weirdness that just keeps me guessing right from moment one is right up my alley.

To recap, I also made it past the first episodes of: * Angels of Death * Cells at Work! * Grand Blue Dreaming * Hanebado! * Banana Fish * Seven Senses of the Re’Union (!) * Happy Sugar Life * Chio’s School Road (!) * Harukana Receive * Holmes of Kyoto (!) * Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion * Phantom in the Twilight (!) * Revue Starlight

Anything with an (!) next to it is more or less on probation. If it hasn’t either maintained its quality or hooked me completely in 3 episodes (as is tradition), I’ll be dropping them. I’m also watching Master of Ragnarok and the Blesser of Einherjar, but explicitly not recommending it. We’ll see if I can make it through the whole thing.

We also have several holdovers from last season that are finishing up: * Major 2nd * Lupin III Part 5 * Steins;Gate 0 * My Hero Academia Season 3

The last show was Persona 5 the Animation but I’m now officially dropping that one because I don’t really see a need to go back to it, the conversation around it pretty much stuck with “you don’t need to watch it if you’ve played the game” and that’s exactly the impression I got.

Speaking of dropping, I put down Asobi Asobase and Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs for simply not being my thing, but the shows that I truly didn’t consider to be worth my or anyone else’s time were: * Island * Dropkick on My Devil! * Lord of Vermilion: The Crimson King * Music Girls * The Thousand Noble Musketeers

The worst premiere I saw this season was far and away How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord!, where I didn’t even last five minutes because the show jumped directly off a cliff into the bounds of tasteless, shameless, and really specific pandering. Why it’s the fourth most popular show of the season (above every single show I kept aside from Angels of Death) I do not understand.

Overall, this is looking like another promising season. To those wondering, I haven’t totally finished spring shows yet, so those reviews should be coming soon. Keep an eye out. I’m also going to make another attempt at weekly coverage for Revue Starlight and Angels of Death (the least and most popular shows in my list), so the next thing you see should be my review of episode 2 of Angels. Manga the Week of 8/19/20

SEAN: The Yen Press juggernaut is back.

Let’s start with Yen. They have a couple manga debuts. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is the manga version of the popular light novel. This arc is a done-in-1 omnibus.

I Love You So Much I Hate You (Nikurashii Hodo Aishiteru) is an office romance yuri about two professional working women with a rivalry… or is it?

MICHELLE: I hope this is something kind of complicated, but I guess we shall see.

ASH: I do like that we’re starting to see more yuri with adult characters.

MELINDA: Yes, I do too.

SEAN: I Don’t Know How to Give Birth! (Shussan no Shikata ga Wakaranai!) is a comedic essay manga about the author struggling with her first-time pregnancy. It looks fun.

ASH: I’m super-curious about this one.

ANNA: I am too!

The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy (Seiken Gakuin no Maken Tsukai)… yup, another demon lord in a magical academy.

MICHELLE: How many does that make now? At least three.

SEAN: Also: Sword Art Online 20, Rascal Does Not Dream of Petite Devil Kouhai, Final Fantasy I*II*III: Memory of Heroes, Do You Love Your Mom (and Her Two-Hit, Multi-Target Attacks?) 6, The Dirty Way to Destroy the Goddess’ Heroes 4, Bottom-Tier Tomozaki-kun 4, and 86 ~Eighty-Six~ 5.

From Viz: Venus in the Blind Spot is a best of collection from Junji Ito, and also has the exact same meter as “Mirror in the Bathroom” by The English Beat.

MICHELLE: My brain automatically went to “Heroes in a Half-Shell.” Which is strange, considering I never watched that show.

ASH: Hahaha! Whatever the meter, I’m always glad for more Ito in English.

ANNA: Always a good thing.

MELINDA: I’m on board for this!

SEAN: Also from Viz: Urusei Yatsura 7, Ooku: The Inner Chambers 17, Golden Kamuy 17, and Blue Flag 3.

MICHELLE: Hooray for more Ooku, but after the cliffhanger at the end of volume two, it’s Blue Flag I am desperate for.

ASH: Oh! This is a good week for Viz. And a bad week for my wallet; I’m reading most of these.

ANNA: Yes, super anxious to read the next volume of Blue Flag.

MELINDA: Ooku! And okay, I’m behind on Blue Flag, but I definitely want to know what all the fuss is about.

SEAN: Vertical has the 3rd Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro.

Udon has a 3rd Rose of Versailles omnibus, meaning I’m already behind.

MICHELLE: I only just got volume two last Friday!

ASH: I got the second volume on Saturday, but go ahead and bring on the third!

Seven Seas debuts a spinoff. The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Jack Flash & Faerie Case Files (Mahou Tsukai no Yome Shihen.75 – Inazuma Jack to Yousei Jiken), which should be a lot of fun for fans of the main series.

MICHELLE: Huh! I’ll have to check this out.

ASH: I’m a fan of The Ancient Magus’ Bride and I’m a fan of the writer Yu Godai, so I’m doubly-excited for this release.

MICHELLE: I have been enjoying That Blue Summer. Hard to believe it’ll be over so quickly!

SEAN: J-Novel Club has one debut, but it’s a biggie: Slayers!. The classic fantasy light novel has been rescued and is coming out with a new translation. The first volume is out next week.

Also out from J-NC: Wild Times with a Fake Fake Princess 2 and How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom 12.

Ghost Ship gives us To-Love-Ru Darkness 16, Saki the Succubus Hungers Tonight 3, and Parallel Paradise 2.

Current Watch- Isekai Review

Season: Fall 2019

Anime:  Ascendance of a Bookworm Genre: Isekai/Fantasy Plot: “ vid bookworm and college student Motosu Urano ends up dying in an unforeseen accident. This came right after the news that she would finally be able to work as a librarian like she had always dreamed of. When she regained consciousness, she was reborn as Myne, the daughter of a poor soldier. She was in the town of Ehrenfest, which had a harsh class system. But as long as she had books, she didn't really need anything else. However, books were scarce and belonged only to the nobles. But that doesn't stop her, so she makes a decision...   "If there aren't any books, I'll just create “ Thoughts: I freaking love this one!!!! It starts off in a sorta slow pace, but it’s so you can gain an understanding of characters, build of the setting and situation of this fantasy-like world. Unlike other isekai fantasy adventuring types, Ascendance of a Bookworm is focused on the protagonist’s thirst for knowledge and to read books. From the first episode we are shown that Myne succeeds in creating her own book, and we are looking into her memories of how it all began. Before I knew it, after each episode I was craving the next episode to see Myne’s dream come true. Each character she meets have importance throughout the story. Heart goes out to Lutz as best boi <3 Overall this series is a refreshing stance of the isekai genre while still being intriguing, fun, and clever. A High recommend for a steady series and can’t wait for Season 2!! Rate: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  [5/5]

Anime: High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World Genre: Isekai/Fantasy/Fan-service Plot: “Seven high school students are involved in an airplane crash. When they woke up, they found themselves in a parallel world where magic and beastmen exist. Of course, they panicked at their sudden unexpected predicament... or not? Instead, they create a power plant in a world that doesn't have electricity, they did a little extra work and managed to take economic control over a metropolis, they managed to repay their gratitude to some oppressed citizens by upending a corrupt government, and basically do whatever they feel like?!” Overall Thoughts: If you don’t mind turning your brain off to have something to occasionally watch and don’t mind the fan-services moments, this one isn’t too bad. Far as story- What’s probably something than can turn you off is the characters. Most of them don’t have much depth to their characters and their abilities are exaggeratedly over the top. And no, I don’t mean exaggerated for high school kids, but for any humanly possible. A samurai female running along side and guiding a missile sort of over the top- It’s one of those, you either hate it or love it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And fans are probably there for the ecchi moments. (which I didn’t initially realize there was so much of it until looking back) Rate: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ ♡ [3.5/5]

Anime: Didn't I say to make my abilities average in the next life Genre: Isekai/Fantasy/Comedy/Adventure Plot: “Kurihara Misato was a little more capable than other high school girls, and as a result, she was always alone and couldn't live her life the way she wanted. When she was reincarnated in another world after a tragic accident, she wanted a chance to make normal friends and live a normal life. So she asked God for one thing... "Give me abilities that are average for that world!" But the abilities God gave her were not "average" at all... And now this girl, who's been reborn in a world where magic is real, struggles to find simple, ordinary happiness” Overall Thoughts: This is a really fun one. I really like how Milie’s friends look like they would be your stereotype party members but don’t follow that mold. The comedy is very well received and Milie’s Anime references was a blast to see. I personally about died over her using ‘spirit gun’. The four girls are all sweet and wonderful watch. Another high praised series for the season. Rate: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ [5/5]

Anime: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Genre: Isekai/Fantasy/Comedy/Shōnen Plot: “The story follows the life of Iruma Suzuki, a 14-year-old human boy, who is sold to a demon by his parents. The demon is known as Sullivan, who takes Iruma to the Demon World and officially adopts him as his grandson. He then enrolls Iruma in the Babyls School for Demons where Sullivan is the headmaster, and where Iruma quickly befriends the demons Alice Asmodeus and Clara Valac. However, Sullivan tells Iruma to never reveal that he is a human, since he will be eaten if anyone finds out that he is not a demon. Iruma then vows to blend in during his time in the Demon World, although he only stands out due to all the situations and adventures that arise.“ Overall Thoughts: A lighthearted series of fun adventures of Iruma attending a demon school. Although not a new concept (Hells, Rosairo+Vampire, etc) but with it being a shonen type, it’s quite a fun watch with light hearted moments. Personally, I find the lack of depth of the setting and backgrounds to be a bit too vague- but is fine for a casual watch, colorful characters, and comical moments. Rate: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ [4.5/5] 

Anime: Kemono Michi: Rise Up Genre: Comedy/Isekai/Fantasy Plot: “Genzo, Japan's number one animal-loving pro-wrestler, gets transported to another world where magical beasts run rampant. In order to save the kingdom, the princess asks him to rid the world of the beasts, but he refuses and wants to save them instead! Genzo opens a pet shop for his new beast friends, but he gets too attached to them and is unable to sell them which leads to constant financial problems for his new shop! Join Genzo and his cute demi-human employees as they find loving homes for the many beasts of the kingdom!” Overall Thoughts: While the wrestling aspect is what truly drew me in, this one can be a bit close to the Furry/Bestiality line... often... It’s a fun nonsensical series that isn’t too high strong on the ‘death the demon lord’ route. I did find this one to be fun despite a couple of running gags feeling a bit stale after the 2nd time. Rate: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ [4/5]

Anime: The Hero Is Overpowered But Overly Cautious Genre: Comedy/Isekai/Fantasy Plot: “In the world of Gaeabrande, Goddess Ristarte is tasked with summoning a hero to save her world. The hero, Seiya Ryuuguuin, is an OVERLY cautious hero who’s obsessed with muscle training and buying armor before setting out to deal with low level creatures. It’s simply one overly cautious mission at-a-time for this invincible hero!” Overall Thoughts: This one... Literally this gif image sums up the entire series- I personally was getting tired of some of the ‘overly cautiousness’ gags, but it soon shifted. Although still cautious, it was more clear (for the audience) to see there was more to this hero. And then I got towards the final 2 episodes... I’ll say this is one show that’s gonna continue to haunt me. Final Thought: It’s worth finishing tbh. Rate: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♡ [4.5/5]

The Story Teller Kudos: 713 Long ago, the Dark One made a deal to protect the Middle Kingdom from Ogres in exchange for a bride. However, each year, the bride has been returned as a corpse and another taken away. When Lady Belle is sacrificed to save her kingdom, she finds her love of stories may just keep her alive.

This is the fic that is always surprising me. I posted it and within twenty four hours it had more kudos than all my other fics combined.  To this day, I have no idea where exactly it’s going but every time I revisit it, there’s some new twist that I even didn’t see coming. (I know, I know bad author)

The House Guest Kudos: 564 When Belle "Lacey" French accidentally summons the "Dark One", she finds herself with an unwanted roommate. Life with a demon isn't all it's cracked up to be and things spiral out of control. Secrets about her heritage, her town, and her friends come to light as she struggles to find where she belongs.

This one started out because Prissy send in a prompt, and then another one, and then four more and then some more people started sending in prompts and the stupid demon for a roommate story ended up being an exercise in world building, character development, and writing for an ensemble. Finished it last year and while it doesn’t get a lot of attention due to it being Lacey-centric, I enjoyed every second of writing this. 

The Gate Kudos: 222 Something is not quite right about the small town of Storybrooke. When Lacey French goes undercover to discover the scoop that could jump start her career, she herself disappears into a magical world known as Fae. With only the protection of a questionable sorcerer, Lacey must survive a year in the world of Fae's nine kingdoms where nothing is as it seems. Amidst magic, romance, mythical creatures and courtly intrigues, Lacey learns sometimes it's not always just the monsters who can change.

I’ve just noticed that most of my fics have a pretty hefty kudos drop....1st to 2nd is almost 150 and 2nd to third is nearly 350! So, this was my very first fic in the fandom, and led me to the fandom here on tumblr. Another Lacey centric, and a massive world building exercise, it’s my closest to an actual novel. Sadly, it doesn’t get too much attention these days, but I’m hoping to get back to it come NaNoWriMo (famous last words)

The Heart of Avonlea Kudos: 181 Lady Belle is more interested in learning to rule her lands and care for her people than worrying about love or marriage. Yet, when her father declares she must wed, Avonlea is flooded with potential suitors for the famous beauty.When the infamous Dark One arrives in Avonlea to throw his hat in the ring in order to claim a mystical treasure, they form an uneasy alliance to get what they both want- only to discover what they never dreamed of in each other.

Actually was kind of surprised by this one being #4! This was a Rumbelle Secret Santa gift and it’s a sweet little fairy tale.

Stutterer Kudos: 141 Due to his stutter, Robert Gold has a hard time making himself understood...except with his online pen pal Belle French. Yet when an opportunity arises for them to meet, Gold isn't sure if he's ready.

Based off the oscar winning short by the same name, I took a beautiful story and rumbelled it. A sequel is promised but I haven’t quite gotten around to it...too nervous to not do credit to the original!
