A Guide to ✨Jellicle Legends ✨

Was ist das? "Jellicle Legends" is the unofficial title of my CATS "fanverse." I'm creating this post to help people navigate the barely-coherent Legends cosmos.

About Legends: I like to say it's 100% "canon compliant," which is something I'm always big on, so I don't personally call it an "AU." On the other hand, we are talking about CATS. What even is "canon" for this intellectual property?

Basically you can think of it as my interstellar network of "headcanons" or how I generally construe CATS, based on many productions/companies/statements from cast alumni/etc. There is not one official production that I strictly adhere to! My fanverse is basically a web of my favorite ways in which to interpret the characters, their backstories and relationships, the world of CATS, etc.

Legends is also a continuation, of sorts; picking up immediately after the events of the musical, there is a story within that has a clear beginning, middle, and end. The characters all have their individual arcs and journeys, and the world itself has a bevy of systems/rules/cultures/etc. Ideally I would corporealize the saga with serialized comics, but that is 🎵time consuming🎵 so I'm never going to commit to that 100%. If/when I create comics, don't count on regular updates or completion. That said, you can ask me whatever you want about the story and I'll answer it comprehensively! No worries about "spoilers" because, like I said, I'm not interested in putting the pressure on myself to actually materialize a comprehensive comic series.

Keep in mind that this is just a casual, fun project for me, so I always just post ut fit; ideas are always coming, going, and changing, so sometimes I'll establish a concept or a design and then change my mind about it later! If you notice inconsistencies...that would be why. XD

I’m really debating dipping out of here until the book announcement. I’m over the anti Tags, no matter how many I block they keep coming up and it’s nearly my entire feed, and the ship drama is hitting a new point of unbearable I would actually rather eat an Olympic sized swimming pool full of rusty nails than hear anymore bitching and moaning for real. can we all just sit down and shut up??? Please! (And I am aware I should probably just chalk it up as a Britishism, but the way she casually calls him “darling” in ensuing conversation gave me feels. And that she kept refraining from killing him for longer than I expected — I really needed that relief.) From the time I fell in love with Cassandra Nova in whatever trailer we first see her puppeting Wolverine, I figured I would ship her with Deadpool as my two expected favourites of the film (the two baldies together…plus the amusement of Wade Wilson boning the twin sister of Professor X? the jokes will write themselves). But maybe as late as the last week leading up to release date, I quickly pivoted in seeing the vision of the two British Villains instead, Mister Paradox x Cassandra Nova, on intuitive feeling (Novadox is the best ship name I could come up for them thus far). And I think I was rewarded more than I expected even if still not as much as I wanted. I need that team-up. Like I get that past an extent she would never have a need for him — but I will take an eternity in the multiverse of her just being his domme for all I care (the way she manhandled him in the third act...she went to town on him more extensively than anybody else). I will take anythiiiiing for them. Any content whatsoever. I know I whore myself out for many a rare pair as the only life I know, but I am beggiiiiing the universe now to not be the only shipper in this though I am certain I will be.

There are so many parallels between them that I would have to wait until streaming for the necessary constant pause and re-watch; and I appreciate how they are the bookend villains of the film, posing opposite ends of threats against our two best bubs. Also, I have never seen anything of “Succession”, but probably should now as I was never so thirsty to see any character onscreen than Matthew Macfadyen. I needed that man to live just so I can climb him like a fucking tree. So if I gotta live vicariously through the other hottie of the film then I win doubly.

Plus I feel them to be spiritually adjacent to my being the lone Sylvius shipper in a Loki fandom where literally everybody else has been Lokius versus Sylki. Like consummate TVA agent ❎ chaotic female ostensible villain. (And as I view Paradox to be more bad than good, and Sylvie to be more good than bad, each pair is pretty morally aligned within itself.) And I think I can live with this.

I desperately wish people would start actually reading the AO3's TOS before confidently making 'user guides' to the AO3 that are just blatantly, flatly wrong.

Yes the AO3 has banned content. They do not allow anything that's illegal under US law - though US law, importantly, does not ban fictional depictions of things - and they do not allow any commercial content. That includes your ko-fi link, or mentions that you do fic commissions. If you do post fic commissions to AO3 and want to mention the commissioner, the fic is a 'request' from the commissioner. This protects the AO3 and you from copyright law.

No the AO3 is not 'a creative fanfiction archive'. It is a fandom archive. Your meta, insights, and theories are absolutely welcome and encouraged there. AO3 also encourages you to post other types of fanworks, like fan videos, podfics, and art, but unfortunately isn't able to natively host those like it does text, so fic has kind of become what it's known for. That absolutely does not mean that other types of fanwork aren't allowed, or are discouraged by the site culture! Anybody who tells you otherwise is just plain wrong!
