economic advice and timely buying tips: 2025 transits
as of late, social media has many discussions about what to buy - or avoid buying - over the next few years, largely in response to the political climate in the united states. across europe, many regions are actively preparing their populations for potential crises (sweden's seems to be the most popularly discussed - link). due to the urgency and pressure to act, as if the world might change tomorrow (and it could though i believe we still have time in many places), i’ve decided to analyze the astrological transits for 2025. in this post i provide practical economic advice and guidance on how much time astrology suggests you have to make these purchases everyone is urging you to prioritize. if it seems to intrigue people i’ll explore future years as well.
things the world needs to prepare for in 2025 in my opinion and why my advice is what it is: the rise of ai / automation of jobs, job loss, geopolitical tensions, war, extreme weather, inflation, tariffs - a potential trade war, a movement of using digital currency, the outbreak of another illness, etc.

The ending of Oshi no Ko vs The beginning (chapter 166 vs 10)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
So as you can see, there's clear evidence of intentional parallels happening here. This is the aftermath of Ai's death that mirrors the aftermath of Aqua's. Aka already claimed to have the ending planned well in advance months ago so it's not a big surprise that even the ending panels of the first (not counting the prologue) and last chapters match.
And yet Oshi no Ko still falls flat despite fulfilling its promise of a revenge-tragedy.
I think the biggest problem it has is the way the last chapter tells us instead of shows us as chapter 10 did.
Yes chapter 10 also used narrative text boxes a lot, but I argue that the effect then was much more immersive.
With them being used with precision to move us through a time skip with only the most necessary information about the fall out for the characters, even the distance had the effect of doing characterisation work with Aqua describing in a narrative text box how the policemen hid the scene from Ruby but Aqua felt his mother's body going cold beneath him as they arrived - this use of the text boxes casual tone over child Aqua sitting in his dead mother's lap gave a sense of disassociation and shock to the scene.
Even the textboxes turning black to mirror Aqua's dark emotions concerning his revenge as the star in his eye turned black showed how much attention was being paid to their use.
Ruby.
Ruby felt much more real in chapter 10, her rant about the internet's callous response to Ai's murder felt real and emotionally charged. In comparison, for all she's the main subject of the last chapter, she feels like a 2d cut out of herself, barely in there for all we see her struggling through Akane's observant gaze.
She expresses her motivation to be an idol despite hardship by acknowledging that Aqua's right about idolwork being difficult and cruel but reminding him that despite the darkside of the entertainment industry, their mother 'shone' very brightly. The talk about how Ruby shines more the darker things get and how this is a good thing because it reaches out to people trapped in darkness of their own (just like her when she was a terminally ill cancer patient) is clearly meant to echo this idea.
Tumblr media
Frankly it fails.
Ruby feels hollow.
To the point where we barely get any insight into Ruby's real feelings at all or any emotional connection with her in comparison, by 166 it's genuinely unclear whether or not she's lying even to the portrait of her dead family when she's 'alone' on her way out the door.
We don't see a conversation between her and her adoptive mother about Aqua, we don't see her talking to Akane at all. We see her grief and her success from a deified distance, just like the fans do. And it alienates us from the character.
Tumblr media
Lies are love and she has two stars in her eyes. Just like her mother did.
I think this more than anything condemns the idol industry, she has to keep lying even to herself about her job being fun because otherwise what was all that pain and suffering and loss for?
Aqua died in a murder-suicide (shout out to Taiki for experiencing a loved one doing this twice, poor guy) to give his little sister success in a job that she has to get up at 5.30 for, devote her entire youth to and will have to quit in less than a decade. It has to matter, that she provides escapism for people who are suffering like she did, but it doesn't change the grim reality of her exploitation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the lack of dialogue in the final chapter and the loss of voice for Ruby in the last few arcs mirrors the loss of agency she experiences as she becomes the ultimate idol, everyone's star.
But that doesn't change the fact that from a reader perspective it's just bad writing. Aka failed to carry his audience with him to the finish line and his messages about the idol industry were blurred by the rushed plot after the movie arc began.
If it weren't for Mengo's art hard carrying the clumsily executed story, I can honestly say that I don't think many would have read this manga all the way to the end.

I'm not worried about putting anti-AI distortion filters on my work, because people have been stealing my drawings and uploading them on "free clipart" sites for years. My writing gets screenshotted and posted on "meme" pages with no attribution (even though screenshots of original blog posts aren't "memes," oh my fucking god). My work is already being stolen. AI hasn't really changed anything for me on that front.
The horse is out of the stable and it's not going back in. I'm not worried about slapping a (dubiously effective) filter on every single piece of art I make as much as I'm worried about supporting entertainment industry unions as they fight for worker protections so that generative AI use doesn't fuck artists out of a job.
The mythologizing of AI has gotten out of hand. "AI" doesn't even have a set meaning. It's incredibly imprecise and creates a lot of needless confusion when the same term can mean "sorting algorithms for computer processes" and "programming for video game NPCs" and "brush stabilizing tools in digital art programs" and "program that generates images from prompts and a database of unethically-sourced media."
AI is being treated like a boogeyman with faerie rules by a lot of people who don't really have any idea how computers work or why it's actually a concern to working artists and their unions.
The actual problem is that generative AI can be used by companies to avoid paying human workers a living wage.
The problem is not that "computers have no soul and can't make real art!"
The actual solution is not "every artist do your part to defeat AI by using dubiously effective filters on literally everything you ever post online, ever," it's "unionize and fight for policies that protect creative professionals from exploitation."
Join a union. If you aren't eligible for something like SAG-AFTRA or the WGA (East or West) or TAG or IATSE or any number of other creative unions from around the world, you can join the IWW.

At this point I am really wondering how the entertainment industry, especially gaming industry, is going to uphold/maintain themselves.
One layoff after another. How are people from that industry supposed to find a new job there when layoffs are happening everywhere? Do studios really think there’s longevity when they aren’t even willing to hire newcomers/juniors so there‘s adequate supply in the work force? Because look at how it’s currently going: investors want more and more money, the workload increases, but people are getting fired, leaving a smaller team to do said work, even distributing them for 2 or 3 projects at the same time, only to crash in a burnout or in later years go into retirement. Then who’s left? AI? Are you kidding me? As if games aren’t becoming more and more repetitive anyway, because of some „safe recipe for good numbers“ strategy. Creativity and the people behind it are suffering.
It’s been almost 2 years since I saw a junior 3D character artist offer. Ever since then it’s been a desert. And it’s not looking all too bright in other departments either. It’s now even a thing in job descriptions where they want you to have „AI abilities“. So as a junior or regular they want you to feed their machine, so in a few years they can fire you. The audacity.
Another audacity are those layoffs just to rehire people for a smaller price (can’t tell me otherwise. For me this is a tactic to put pressure on the work force to say yes to less money otherwise they will stay jobless). People that made projects what they are today, who are seniors and leads for a reason, out of a job just like that. Make it make sense (it doesn’t).
Studios like ubisoft now openly saying that they want to focus on AI, like assets completely made by AI to „save time and money“ and expand AI onto more fields. Shame on them.
The way creative industries like gaming finance themselves is also their biggest poison. And I only see a solution in that by regulating investors demands and upper positions sheaningans. They can’t have „absolute power“ anymore. It’s destructive and greedy and not realistic. Games can not be linearly successful. For the game design „recipe“ to improve it needs iteration just like when you work in a project for example and work on a design that needs to be iterated until it‘s improved or solid even. We see time and time again that „business/numbers people“ and creatives do not go hand in hand. We see an extreme imbalance.
I would predict that with less creative new input and letting mainly AI do the work consumers will be less and less entertained because everything seems to be and look the same. It will stagnate. And then crumble. And the industry needs to start like it did before. And that’s what I guess for the big companies.
With the layoffs happening and not enough job offers in return I could see that big talents get together to build their own studios now and we may get an era of new successful and growing studios happening that may even replace the current triple A studios one day in the future. They may even change the financing game. We saw successful games happening through platforms like kickstarter more often. So it might lead back to a „power to the people“ thing. Having an idea for a project and seeing if enough people agree and invest to see it happening. There’s room for improvement in that system. That’s all what it leads back to; in the end the consumers need to be satisfied to make it a creative and monetary success. BG3 and larian studios was a good example for that. It’s what made coral island grow and grow too. So there‘s potential.
Feel free to comment your theories. I really would like to see what others think about the current state of gaming studios and how it will or could develop.

So what was that whole idea about Kamiki's true nature?
Since I tend to like children quite a bit, there’s one point(out of many)in this manga that really bothers me. Around volume 14, there have been several mentions of Kamiki’s “true nature” and whatnot. For instance, in Aqua’s script, it’s mentioned that Ai broke up with him after realizing his true nature, and so on(it wasn't the case in reality).
But when I think about how the authors wrote this character, it doesn’t seem like he had an inherently bad nature. As the creators of the story and characters, they would know this better than anyone else. If anything, given his circumstances, he seems like someone with a remarkably good temperament. That’s why I couldn’t stop thinking about it when the manga was still ongoing—what exactly led to him being associated with such accusations? I was curious, it’s confusing. He was kind. And it doesn’t seem like he fits into the “kind people turning scary when they snap” category either, because even in those cases, there’s usually a limit to how far the outburst goes. It’s just really strange. How could someone like him lash out at Ai? He couldn’t even get angry in the first place. He missed the moments when he should’ve gotten angry, and even when he had reasons to, he didn’t. They built his character like that, I've been paying attention to how they did and I wouldn't be confused if things were different!
When I look at it, it doesn’t seem like the authors were trying to write him as fundamentally “evil.” If anything, they seemed to be portraying him as “empty,” and they might have been trying to explore that theme.
It’s true that the emptiness and lack of affection experienced by people who weren’t sufficiently loved during the early stages of their lives can be deeply painful and significantly influence their hearts. But if the story is saying that this emptiness and pain were the cause of him turning into a monster or leading to his downfall, then I find it incredibly disrespectful to people who endure such suffering. I don't think that was what the authors were going for, either. In my opinion, those factors alone don’t seem like sufficient reasons for someone with his personality and pain to commit such extreme acts. He wasn’t just an ordinarily “nice” person even; he seemed extraordinarily gentle by nature, at least from what I can tell.
If something external had happened to push him over the edge, then maybe it would make sense. That’s why I think he only changed after Ai’s death.
But in the story, aside from Ai, it feels like no one treats him as a human being. Was he really that terrible? From when? Why is he treated this way?
If this is meant to convey some kind of message, maybe I could understand it.
For instance: “Both deities of the entertainment industry were warped in their own ways because they weren’t treated as human—one was revered as a god, and the other was treated as a monster.” If that’s the point, I might get it. But was that really conveyed properly?
What frustrates me immensely is that Kamiki was consistently abused from at least the age of 10 or 11, throughout his adolescence, and yet none of the adults around him did anything to help—they just left him to suffer. Then, near the end, they react so half-heartedly towards him when he goes to meet some of them, while acting all meaningful and apologetic, as if they’re atoning for their sins toward Ai. But what about him? It seems like no one—not a single person—ever did anything for him except for Ai, no wonder he's so desperate about her, huh?
And really, what did he even actually do? How far did his crimes go? When he says at the end, “I didn’t do anything,” (they actually had him say that) I think that’s half true and half false. From my perspective, it seems like he awakened after Ai’s death and started using his divine powers, determined he would bring her back. If he were a deity, it would make sense for him to be able to guide people’s futures, twist their fates, and decide whether they live or die. That's something he's actually capable of doing, if he's that specific god of light who governs over the industry!! If he committed sins, he should face the consequences. But—
If the story had depicted this situation in a clearer sense, like what is actually going about him in the first place, then they could’ve drawn out discussions about how to respond to this character in a more engaging way.
However, this work portrays the character as inherently problematic, yet when you break it down, it leaves you scratching your head. Everything is ambiguous. So, was he always problematic to begin with, or what? The story also includes parts where the protagonists like Akane or Aqua outright suggest that he’s an issue. Is it just because they need to kill him?
If the story were portraying him as if he had that kind of disposition from the beginning, I wouldn’t have anything to say… I can make that out!! I studied psychology for goodness sake!! As I’ve kept mentioned before, however, this character’s transformation is closer to complete corruption or a total reversal of temperament. People don’t change this drastically on a normal level. It’s just too strange. If this were explored more thoroughly, it might be more convincing. No matter how much I think about it, the only explanation for why this character was written this way seems to be this, that he is really some god, and I think it’s likely correct.
I mean, he was abused since he was a child, but not a single adult at the time properly addressed it. And I don’t even think that alone would have turned him into a criminal. That’s not what caused it— he was holding up for so long, and then, after Ai died, the only person who treated him well was gone. From what I figure, that's like what's the only thing enough to break him THAT BAD. I think he ended up living a miserable existence just to try and do something for her, to dedicate himself to her.
But none of this is clear, and the story just keeps pushing the narrative that “he’s the problem,” “he’s a monster,” and “killing him will solve everything.” Somewhere along the way, this approach starts to feel unnecessarily cruel and upsetting. Am I reading this wrong? But that’s how it seems to be written.
Is it really okay to handle this sort of subject this way? It’s too harsh, both internally and externally. It feels like the character has never been properly addressed or explored.
Sure, he’s an adult now, he needs to take responsibilities. But he was just a kid when he suffered. So young at that. Is it really appropriate to discuss things like a teenager’s “true nature” or whatever? Sometimes you do see kids with genuinely dangerous and cruel tendencies, but he used to be the exact opposite of such a case. He did not display any aggression. Why frame things this way? The way this story handles this is just mean. For someone who endured abuse and kept smiling to get through it, that’s an extraordinary level of strength and character. For his case, it isn’t about “true nature”—it’s a product of his environment. And yet they don’t explore that? They should. The way the narrative directs readers is deeply unsettling. What were the adults even doing? That’s the real issue! That’s where the problem lies! Not addressing that and just concluding with his death feels so infuriating. What is this story even trying to do?!
And to add to that, while we talk about him at 10 or 11 years old, I don’t think he ever received proper love even before that.
That’s why it’s so astonishing that when he met Ai, she said she wanted to live with him forever. It shows how much she genuinely liked him! Despite everything he had been through, he still managed to be that lovable to her. Both of them were so genuine toward each other. For that to happen, she must have been truly happy around him—she must have felt cared for. It's really hard for someone like that to endorse those kinds of feelings towards someone, she really loved that guy and he probably really deserved it at that point.
Looking at this character, even considering what he’s been through, his outward demeanor is still incredibly kind. It’s so rare for someone to stay that way despite everything.
The idea of this guy having a “noble soul” or “pure spirit”, "nobility" might connect to the Sarutahiko reference (since that god is described that way), but beyond that, this character’s natural disposition seems to have been one of the kindest in the entire story. He’s just been twisted by his experiences. I can believe he really was like that. Even Ai had a dark personality, yet he somehow endured without letting that show at least outwardly—even when he was just a kid, even younger than her!
He was genuinely a good person. For someone like that to end up this way? It’s because he lost Ai and couldn’t handle it. He had given all his affection to her. Maybe if there had been someone else in his life to help him, things could’ve been different, but no one besides Ai treated him well. The way the character was written really does suggest that’s the case.
The problem isn’t so much the framework or the plot but the way it’s executed. It’s so lacking in consideration. This kind of material is too heavy to leave in the realm of mystery-solving. Even so, if they wanted to depict his personality or actions as the problem, they should’ve written his personality differently and laid the groundwork with different foreshadowing.
They wanted to add mystery elements while still portraying him as kind, so there’s this constant mismatch. The result is that his character remains unclear. And they can’t fully commit to making him a villain because the character is tied to mythology—he’s clearly based on a god from myth, and that god was incredibly benevolent. Oh my gosh..why do this to a god known for being a loving husband?
Also—again—talking about the “true nature” of a 14–15-year-old? Sure, it’s not entirely out of the question, but isn’t still that going too far? No one talks about Airi’s true nature, so why his? What even is his “true nature”? Blaming a kid for this? For feeling hollow from having been neglected and unloved? Seriously… when adults start telling a child they’re “hopelessly empty” or whatever, I’m just sitting here clutching my head in frustration. He was just a middle schooler! What are you doing? And the adult doing the gaslighting? They’re not even a proper human being! Sure, adults like that exist in real life, but still!
The problem is that the story doesn’t dismiss it as nonsense—it actually builds that trait into his character. It doesn’t outright contradict it. I guess it’s not entirely wrong of them to point it out, but still… it’s so frustrating. These elements function as part of the plot and keep things intriguing, but it feels careless. The story doesn’t address the core issue, the problem of the adults having hurt a kid, and that makes it harmful. Anyway… Kamiki’s life was just awful. He could’ve turned out so much better. That’s what’s heartbreaking about him. And it’s not even entirely clear whether he didn’t turn out okay. His responsibility on this all is so ambiguous. What if he really didn't want to hurt anyone like he's said, but things turned out that way anyway—what are we supposed to do with that?
Well, considering what he thought about Ruby, I guess that’s not entirely the case(omg) but I think the whole "feeling Ai" might have actually had some sort of base from his standpoint. What if he knew doing that would work for certain but held back but didn’t kill her because she was his and Ai's child (he says that she's theirs) then felt “I should’ve tried something when I had the chance” in his dying breaths huh? Wouldn’t that be tragic? Messed up but I think that's what could have been what's going on! I could see that being possible. But still, what kind of nerve does he have… ugh… the audacity… How could he do that to his own daughter lol. At this point I think that's the writer's fault, not the character because it's so ridiculous. What even is this manga? I’m at a loss for words.
Honestly, I wish they hadn’t used such heavy themes. The manga can be entertaining but it’s too emotionally taxing. The author handles these serious topics in such a strange way, and it’s exhausting. I'd go as far to say it feels a bit irresponsible at times.

Well this just got interesting, the change in the eye color. So I am taking that it's something like... "the more purple they eye the more corrupted the soul" or something like that???
I wonder if Aqua's color will be purple later on
IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT AQUA'S COLOR CHANGING TOO. Honestly I think they might go with that..
okay, I just checked and aqua's eye color gets visibly darker whenever black stars show up..But in some scenes they also turn quite purple!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
notice aqua's left eye vs right eye.
aqua's black star itself seems to be purple too:
Tumblr media
And don't get me wrong, I don't really think they planned this from the start, it seems to be a new thing, but it does seem that twins's eyes turn to look more like their parent's whenever they turn to revenge. I think it's pretty ambiguous as to why, for example maybe the color changes with them being stuck in the past, and on a way to inherit their parent's sad fate. Maybe also, like you said, it's about soul being corrupted, maybe it means living a lie, the less authentic you become the more purple the eyes are! I mean we know atp Hikaru is a shady figure, he just watched someone die, he's a hopeless liar here. Ai had mostly purple eyes mixed with ruby, which means she was still mixing lies with her honest desire to love etc., and ruby had ai's pink eyes up until now which would mean she lived with her honest desires, and about the twins altogether: their eyes color wasnt purole from the start like their parents, I think it can symbolizes authenticy, because despite it all they were their own people not burdened by their parents' past,, until they were, whenever they go dark this path - ruby tries to copy ai while also acting like hikaru, while aqua acts like ai and hikaru too. That's when their eyes change color.
I wouldn't assign any solid meaning to the colors But It's very fun to talk like this so: airi's eyes are also purple. And we know how she was entirely tainted by the dark side of entertainment industry. And that would fit hoshino family too.

Decentralization and democratization
Power structures will shift, with employees demanding more autonomy and consumers seeking ownership through blockchain-based solutions. Traditional institutions, corporations, and even governments will face challenges as power shifts towards distributed networks and grassroots movements. Individuals will demand active involvement in decision-making processes, leading to increased transparency and accountability in all spheres. Property and resources will be seen as shared assets, managed sustainably and equitably within communities. This transition won't be without its bumps. We'll need to adapt existing legal frameworks, address digital divides, and foster collaboration to ensure everyone benefits from decentralization.
Examples of Decentralization and Democratization

Pluto in Aquarius presents a unique opportunity to reimagine power structures, ownership models, and how we interact with each other. By embracing decentralization and democratization, we can create a future where individuals and communities thrive, fostering a more equitable and sustainable world for all. Remember, the power lies within our collective hands – let's use it wisely to shape a brighter future built on shared ownership, collaboration, and empowered communities.
Focus on collective prosperity
Universal basic income, resource sharing, and collaborative economic models may gain momentum. Aquarius prioritizes the good of the collective, advocating for equitable distribution of resources and opportunities. Expect a rise in social safety nets, universal basic income initiatives, and policies aimed at closing the wealth gap. Environmental health is intrinsically linked to collective prosperity. We'll see a focus on sustainable practices, green economies, and resource sharing to ensure a thriving planet for generations to come. Communities will come together to address social challenges like poverty, homelessness, and healthcare disparities, recognizing that individual success is interwoven with collective well-being. Universal basic income initiatives: Providing individuals with a basic safety net, enabling them to pursue their passions and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
Resource sharing platforms: Platforms like carsharing or tool libraries minimizing individual ownership and maximizing resource utilization, fostering a sense of interconnectedness.
Navigating the Shift
Support social impact businesses: Choose businesses that prioritize ethical practices, environmental sustainability, and positive social impact.
Contribute to your community: Volunteer your time, skills, and resources to address local challenges and empower others.
Embrace collaboration: Seek opportunities to work together with others to create solutions for shared problems.

By embracing collective well-being, collaboration, and sustainable practices, we can create a world where abundance flows freely, enriching not just individuals, but the entire fabric of society. Remember, true prosperity lies not in what we hoard, but in what we share, and by working together, we can cultivate a future where everyone has the opportunity to flourish.

ST☆RISH - HE★VENS
TW FOR SEMI SUGGESTIVE CONTENT! These are my personal headcanons on what I think the idols would wear. You do not have to agree with me. I just dislike how Broccoli always gives their character merch scents like; apple or lavender. They are adult men in an entertainment industry. They usually get promotional items so I think that they have preferences... But I also have a thing for exploring the world around me with my nose first. I hope you enjoy.
Quick explanation; top notes, middle notes, and base notes are the length of how long the scent will last when applied. Top notes; 5 - 15 minutes / Middle notes; 1 hour / Base notes; Max of 6 hours
Reiji Kotobuki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Le Beau Paradise Garden by Jean Paul Gaultier Masculine Cologne Around 130 USD // 20,094 Yen
So I picked this mostly based on my perception of Reiji. I think he is so wonderful and silly. And the design of the bottle reminds me of him in a way that I cannot explain. His canon scent/associated smell from what I have seen is usually… Grass? Earth and forest smell. Which is fine. But I think he needs something… Cuter? Reiji is a big clown character so I think that something akin to lawn clippings isn’t as fun and whimsical as he is. So I chose this! The top notes are ginger, mint, water notes (these are molecules combined to mimic the ‘scent’ of clean freshwater!) and green notes(grass usually)! This is to create a very fresh smell when it’s first applied. The middle notes are coconut, fig, and salt. I really like this for Reiji because it’s masculine but also it feels almost… Like a mature beach trip. If that makes sense. In a fun way! Lastly the base notes are tonka beans and sandalwood so it all fades down to this which is very warm. Please imagine visiting the lake after a drive with him and spending the whole day together until night time!~! That kind of scent.
Reiji is always looking for ways to get you closer…
Ranmaru Kurosaki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eros Flame by Versace Masculine Cologne Around 115 USD // 17,219 Yen
Ranmaru usually has something ‘spicy’ or amber for his scent which actually makes sense to me. But again usually when they say spicy it’s cinnamon and only cinnamon… Which reminds me more of Xmas than it reminds me of a sexy man. So I picked Eros Flame by Versace because I actually have smelled this cologne in person. A long time ago I smelled it and it wasn’t for me personally. But I can’t deny it smelled good. The top notes are mandarin orange, Madagascar pepper (spicy!), chinotto(sour and tart fruit that is similar to an orange), rosemary, and lemon. So it’s very citrusy on top and the scent is almost like… Potpourri? So it's a nice bowl of fruit when he comes in to hug you. The middle notes are geranium, pepperwood, and rose so it’s very floral and gently mixing in with the lingering fruit scent! Which can be a little intense but the bite of the spice smell remains. The base notes are vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, Texas cedar, patchouli, and oakmoss! Very calm and earthy smells with that hidden sweetness. I think it fits Ranmaru very well because he is very passionate, but there’s also a softness there!
Ranmaru wants to make sure you know that he likes you…
Ai Mikaze
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MISSING PERSON by PHLUR Unisex Cologne Around 99 USD // 15,047 Yen
My original choice for Ai was Molecule 01 but I changed my mind. I like this much better. So my original choice was me viewing Ai Mikaze as physically what he is and not who he is which was very hurtful of me! MISSING PERSON is supposed to replicate the lingering scent of your lovers bare skin. It is intimate, but nonsexual. If I recall, Ai usually gets floral scents which actually does make sense for me. I just am not the biggest fan of the constant usage of lavender when it comes to idol merchandise. Ai is still a 'child' so... I will allow it. The top notes are bergamot (if an orange and a lemon had a baby that would be the smell), jasmine, and musk (powdery, sweet, feminine!). Imagine the person you love finally dry after a long and relaxing shower. The top notes are meant to imitate that, which I very much agree with... The middle notes are orange blossom, cyclamen, and neroli. These are all floral smells and as the top notes fade it's a lingering and pleasant smell that will leave you at ease. Finally, the base notes are white musk (more masculine!), white wood, and Australian sandalwood. As everything winds down you are left with a softness in the cologne that I really like for Ai. He is not just a machine made to replicate who once was. He is 愛!~!
As Ai grows and learns, you can see that he really is his own person...
Camus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Omniscient Mr. Thompson by Penhaligon's Masculine Cologne Around 315 USD // 47, 747 Yen
This was also not my first choice but my first choice was so basic I forgot the name. This cologne is insanely expensive because the bottle is only 75ml for the price. Which isn't a lot but it is very strong... It is butler inspired, which Camus plays that role while on stage but also even outside of that the scent reminds me of him. In a good way! The top notes are lavender, pink pepper, and elemi (a type of amber with a pine smell!). It comes off as sweet and masculine. The scent tends to linger which it's like... "You will see me" if that makes sense. The middle notes are orris root (powdery earth smell), black pepper, and geranium. The pepper is back! But pink pepper and black pepper are different when it comes to colognes and perfumes. Pink pepper is more for a sweeter spice smell. Imagine a finely aged whiskey while black pepper is a biting spice meant to give you the feeling of intensity. So the middle notes are much warmer and mature than the top ones. Finally our base notes are vanilla, sesame, and oak! When it all fades down to the base as a whole... It's impossible to explain other than elegant. It is very strong scent wise but it fades quickly. So even before entering a room the smell is going to attract you. I am actually a very big fan of this one. I love almost every fragrance from this collection...
Camus knows that the smell will cling to your clothes when he's finished with you...

Pairing: Elvis Presley x reader
Word count: 3,8K
Series summary: Elvis has worked hard to become the successful adult movie director that he is today and all that hard work is paying off by how well the public reacts to his work and how much money is coming into his bank account, despite the fact that porn is still very much illegal. Working in the adult industry is not something you saw yourself doing despite coming from a place where it always has been out in the open, but you soon find yourself swept up and away by a certain American director and right into the heart of the porn industry. The only question that remains is... will you sink, or will you swim?
Chapter summary: Working on his newest and what he believes his biggest project yet, Elvis flies to Amsterdam to shoot most of it. Everything is going well until he's forced to fire his leading actress on the spot and there's a stop being put to his work. But as he wanders into a cafe for a much needed drink in the bustling city, faith seems to be on his side.
Warnings: porn director!Elvis, European!reader, set in the year 1970 (so some details may be a little off?), obvious mentions of sex/porn etc, mentions of prostitution, Elvis giving reader a lowkey foot rub in public (honestly, he's going to be into feet in this series bc i'm feral), mentions of soft drugs, alcohol consumption.
A/N: hi! this idea was born from an ai but mostly from The Deuce (definitely watch it!), where i took most inspiration from. i'm super excited about this series, and honestly it's giving me a lot of inspiration to write in general again! this is going to be a short series- i'm thinking around 5 parts, but we shall see, hm? no smut in this part, but obvi there will be in future parts, as well as some darker topics. hope y'all enjoy! ❤

Who ever said Hollywood was a jungle has obviously never set foot in New York City.
They’ve obviously never experienced what a real concrete jungle is like and they definitely don’t know that the Golden Age of Hollywood has seen its best days. Directors were feeling pressures from the outside – from the public that wanted something different, something more than those cringy movie kisses. The smaller movie theaters were starting to ID their customers because their movies weren’t so family friendly anymore. Establishments that specialized in peep shows were popping out of the ground like weeds. Burlesque clubs were turning into proper stripclubs and people would rather spend their money on naked girls dancing in their faces than on overpriced cocktails at supper clubs.
They didn’t know that the world was changing.
They didn’t know that even though adult entertainment was far from legal, it was one of the most produced and exported and imported products in the country.
They didn’t know. But Elvis Presley did.
Having made his start as a director ten years ago when he was in his early twenties and was nothing but a naive Southern boy from Memphis, he crawled and clawed his way through shitty jobs in New York. From parking cars, to serving drinks in sketchy bars to being a bodyguard at a massage parlor and driving around hookers to their appointments… He’s seen it all, and he’s done it all.
He worked hard to get where he currently was – being one of the most famous porn directors in New York. Everyone knew who he was and everyone respected him. Times Square was home to countless of peep shows, stripclubs and whatnot and you’ll bump into a prostitute every five steps. Elvis never used their services but he was friendly with them, greeting them as if he had known them forever. Which in some girls’ cases, was true.
Most of those girls were looking for a way out, wanting to get off the streets and into the safety of a movie studio, but Elvis has learned from a previous mistake where he hired a girl who had a pimp and the leech tried to get him to pay them more than the other actors. Since then, Elvis stuck to actors and actors only.
The director was doing good for himself, owning his own studio and brand under the name of “Presley Productions”, and living in a spacious apartment in the city, yet he still wanted more.
He wanted to make a movie so good, it would get international attention. He wanted it to be so good that theaters wouldn’t stop showing it and he wanted it to be so damn good that it would get him a shiny, gold award on his shelf.
And whenever Elvis had his mind set on something, he made sure to accomplish whatever it was that he wanted to accomplish.
It would only be a matter of time before Hollywood would get whiff of his work, and who he was, and for him to open up a second studio there. Elvis didn’t believe in “Hollywood first, the world later” though – he was going to knock everyone off their feet, from the housewives in California to the business men in Hong Kong, all at the same time.

The script he had written for his newest movie had been done for months now and all there was left to do was the casting. The process went fairly simple and easy – his main actress was Annette Haven and she was a gorgeous brown eyed brunette, but for some reason he couldn’t get used to her.
Granted, he wasn’t the one playing in the movie and her co-star seemed to have no issues with her, so perhaps he figured he was just being too picky because he was so passionate about this project. Annette was friendly during the first few weeks of filming but as they got to Amsterdam, the sex capital of the world, to shoot most of the movie, her behavior started to change.
She was cranky on set, pranced around like she was the Queen and was late for filming almost every single day. To put it mildly, she was getting on Elvis’s nerves and when she showed up high as a kite one afternoon, the director was done with this girl.
He never was a tiran on set and always made sure everyone was doing okay, but right now it was like a bomb exploded and everyone watched and were awkwardly rooted to their places as Elvis had a go at the main actress and fired her on the spot.
“Take the rest of the day off. We’ll figure things out tomorrow,” he announced to the other actors and the crew. He gave them a bitter smile before he turned around and walked out of the studio they rented, angry and annoyed at the fact he lost a full day of filming, his leading actress and money.
He needed a goddamn drink.

Amsterdam was a crowded, bustling city and in some ways, it was much like New York but it was different in so many ways too. People were a little more laid back here (and he figured the many coffee shops where one definitely was not drinking coffee but getting high at instead had something to do with that) and instead of running into a lady of the night on a street corner, they were placed behind windows in certain areas. The Red Light District, for example. It was crowded with tourists and while there was a long canal outstretched in the middle of the district, there were shops, bars, coffee shops and sexual tinted business lined up on the sides, drawing people’s attention left and right. The infamous windows were located in the alley ways, the red lights that were on indicating a girl was working at the time. While he was definitely no stranger to sex workers and what the normal citizen would call “wildness of it all”, it was like he had stepped into a different world, yet it felt a little bit like home too.
Spotting a typical Dutch brown cafe on a corner, he stepped inside and was welcomed by the loud rumbles of laughter of men shooting pool and sitting at the tables and the bar and the smell of cigarette smoke and beer. Nobody aside from the waitress even spared him a glance as he sat at a table near the window and the second he looked at the girl that came up to him to take his order, a smirk spread across his face. In the middle of August, it was only natural for the girl to be wearing a pair of shorts and he was glad this place didn’t set any strict dress codes for their employees, because Good Lord, those legs looked like they went on for days. He noticed the red heeled sandals she wore on her feet and her fresh pedicure on her toes, drawing him in even more. The way that black little apron was tied around her waist did things to him and as his eyes shamelessly moved further up and noticed the size of her breasts that were filling up the tight top she was wearing, he could only think two things – first, he needed to get his hands on those things. And second, she would be perfect for the movie he was shooting out here.
Annette Haven who?
“Hallo?!” You spoke again, waving your hand in front of the dark haired man that just sat down by the window when he didn’t respond to you the first time. Instead, he was shamelessly checking you out from head to toe and working in a bar in the Red Light District, you were used to it but it still got you a little annoyed at times. At least some men tried to hide it and most men actually spoke, with actual words. As he excused himself in English and scanned the crowd for a second, you realised he wasn’t Dutch and decided to cut him some slack.
Perhaps he really was a creep, but your boss wouldn’t be too happy if a customer walked out without being served.
Happened before, because while other waitresses accepted the bold and creepy men that came to drink almost every single day, your mother had always taught you to stand up for yourself and to not take any shit from anyone.
Besides, this was 1970. What did men expect? For you to drape yourself over their laps and beg them to take you? Absolutely not.
“A beer’s just fine, honey,”
You bit your tongue to ignore the pet name and flashed the American a smile, looking him in the eye. “Anything else? Something to eat maybe?”
Elvis grinned and shook his head, watching you walk away to get his drink. You were a very pretty girl with a very pretty body and he realised he was going to amp up his charm if he wanted to see what was underneath.
And he definitely wanted to see what was underneath.

“There you go,” you said as you came back over to his table and put his beer down in front of him. Before you could make your escape once more, Elvis spoke up.
“You know, your English is pretty good,”
At this, you almost scoffed as you stood up straight and looked at him with a hand on your hip. These Americans were always so full of themselves.
“Thanks. It’s only a language spoken in countries all over the world,” you smiled sarcastically and Elvis grinned in amusement as he leaned his arms on the edge of the table, quirking an eyebrow.
Feisty. He was intrigued.
“I been to Germany back in the day and believe me, they definitely didn’t sound as pretty as you,”
You raised your eyebrows a little at the odd compliment. Didn’t sound as pretty? That was the first time you ever heard something like that. This guy looked exactly what you imagined a pimp to look like – gold rings adorning his fingers, dressed up nicely in a velvet crushed jacket despite the heat outside – yet he used the word “pretty”, instead of something vulgar like most customers did when they’d try to flirt with you.
You knew you had probably judged him too quickly and although you were intrigued by him the same way he was by you, you weren’t going to make it easy on him.
“Let me tell you a secret,” you whispered as you leaned down and closer to him a little, looking straight into his eyes, which you noticed were very blue and very pretty. “You’re not in Germany anymore, sir,”
Elvis let out a laugh as you gave his shoulder a playful pat and raised his glass, a sly smirk settling on his features.
“You got that right, honey,”
As you walked away, he didn’t fail to notice the playful smile you threw his way as you looked over your shoulder.

Elvis wasn’t planning on spending half the day in this particular cafe, but for some reason, he was already on his third beer and he just couldn’t leave.
He could say it was because he needed to clear his mind and think of a solution to fix the problem about not having a lead actress anymore, but the little voice in his head told him he was looking right at that exact solution.
You.
He knew it would be risky – you were just a waitress and you probably had never set foot on a movie set in your entire life, let alone an adult movie set, but he couldn’t stop imagining you in front of the camera, in all kinds of positions.
As he watched you move around the place, serving customers, it was almost like he was watching a movie right now. The way you moved so effortlessly on those little heels, the way you avoided customers that were a little too handsy and the way you were laughing with local customers who you’d probably served many times before.
The sound of your laugh was like music to his ears and he wondered how you’d sound while you were being fucked with those gorgeous long legs dangling in the air. Just imagining you moaning in pleasure had a shiver run down his spine.
And while you had pretended you didn’t like Elvis at all and he was just another annoying American tourist, you couldn’t help yourself from glancing into his direction every so often and making your way to his table to ask if he needed anything else.
When you did just that after talking to some locals at the bar, he looked at you and smiled.
“Sit down,” he told you as he nodded to the empty seat across from him as he leaned back in his seat. “Doesn’t the old man give you a break?”
You chuckled softly as he nodded to an older looking, grumpy man in the corner behind the bar. Your boss. He barely did any of the work and just sipped on his beer, watching his waitresses work their asses off.
For a shitty pay, too.
“Hardly,” you admitted honestly with a soft chuckle, noticing that your boss wasn’t paying any attention to you so you sat down opposite the dark haired man that had his eye on you the entire time. “So, what brought you to Amsterdam?”
Elvis was pleasantly surprised as you asked him that. Not only would it give him the chance to keep you at his table longer, but now was also the moment where he would have to tell you what he did. And find out your reaction to it.
So, he just came clean right away. In one way, it was a good test to see how open-minded the Europeans really were.
And if you were a full blown, crazed feminist.
God… please don’t be a fullblown crazed feminist, he prayed mentally.
“I’m here to make a porno.”
A silence lingered between you two, but it only lasted for about three seconds. You nodded your head and chuckled in an amused but friendly manner.
“Are you an actor?”
Thank God.
“No,” he laughed, shaking his head a little as he took a sip of his beer, licking his lips. “I’m the director of the movie,”
You leaned your arms on the table and sat on the edge of your seat, crossing your legs under the table as you swung your foot back and forth a little. Elvis looked at the way your breasts were pressed against your arms for a second before looking back at your face, an excited twinkle in his eyes.
“And why are you not directing your movie right now?” You wondered aloud, tilting your head a little.
“Well,” he let out a laugh as he tapped one of his rings against his glass for a second, looking at you. “My leading actress wasn’t as fit for the role as I thought.”
“Or maybe you aren’t as good as a director as you think you are,” you teased with a grin on your face.
At that, Elvis just looked at you with a raised eyebrow. He could tell you were pulling his tail, but perhaps far in the back of his mind… he wondered if that could be the truth. He decided not to let his insecurities get to him though, not right now, and when he felt your swaying foot hit his leg under the table, he reached a hand down and grabbed your ankle. You widened your eyes a little and stared at him as he gave you a cocky grin and removed your shoe, dropping the red heel to the floor before he put your foot in his lap.
You looked around nervously to see if your boss caught onto you slacking yet, but he was still busy with the locals at the bar. Elvis ran his hand down from your ankle to your foot and pressed his thumb against your sole, making you turn back to him and bite your tongue to hold back a small gasp.
While you certainly never let customers touch you, right now you weren’t trying to get away. Nor could you muster up a smart remark to throw at his head. You’d been on your feet all day, wearing those heels, and the little massage he suddenly decided to give you wasn’t entirely unwelcomed.
“I am a great director, sweetheart, trust me..” he grinned as he looked you in the eye, a kind but mischievous gleam in his blue orbs. This man definitely was bold and for the first time in your waitressing “career”, you were enjoying the attention of a customer. And a tourist, at that. “Some people just can’t resist the many coffee shops in the city,”
You chuckled, nodding your head as you tried to focus on the conversation and not his large hand rubbing your foot under the table.
“Ha! Bet she was A-American,” you mentally slapped yourself for the stutter (and the lame reply) but if he noticed it, he didn’t mention it. Instead he just grinned and caressed his short nails across the arch of your foot a little.
“Who said she was American?”
“Well, if she was Dutch, she could’ve.. resisted the tempting clouds of weed,” you countered back with a small, playful grin on your face.
He laughed as he cocked his eyebrow, his eyes staring intently into yours as he found your pressure point and pushed his thumb into it, making you nearly moan out loud right there in the middle of your work place.
You managed to save yourself with a small groan.
“Think you can do better?”
At this point, your face was flushed and he realised he was slowly breaking through that sarcastic façade of yours. Then again, he wasn’t exactly playing fair with the way he was shamelessly giving you a foot rub and while you had genuinely peaked his interest, he was a little desperate too.
He wanted to finish his movie and make sure it was good. It had to be perfect. And he didn’t want to get a professional actress now that he had laid eyes on you.
Porn wasn’t a strange concept to you despite never having been in a porno yourself. You lived in a city where sex was out in the open for everyone to see and consume and while porn was illegal here as much as it was in the States, it was tolerated. Perhaps it wasn’t such a strange idea for you to dip your toes into the world of adult entertainment.
“I know I can do better,” you said confidently, looking over at your boss who looked your way and you quickly pulled your foot out of Elvis’ grip, slipping it back into your heel. “Just tell me when and where,”
Elvis let out a hearty laugh as he widened his eyes at you a little. This had been easier than he expected – you were offering yourself for the job and while that was certainly surprising, he wasn’t complaining at all. You were perfect for this movie and the fact that you were inexperienced in the industry might even be better for the storyline.
After all, the lead girl was supposed to be a little naive and a whole lot of innocent.
You quickly urged him for a phone number and address when you noticed the sour face of your boss staring at you from behind the bar and Elvis quickly scribbled his contact information down on the back of a paper coaster as he realised he didn’t have any business cards on him at the moment. You grasped it from the table and shoved it in your pocket, getting up from your seat.
“Hold up,” he said after he paid for his drinks and you were about to walk off to the bar to get back to work. You felt him grabbing your wrist and you turned around, looking at him as your heartbeat sped up a little. “I didn’t get your name..”
“It’s Y/N,” You told him, gently pulling your arm out of his grip. You wouldn’t mind holding onto him a little longer but you felt your boss’ eyes burning in the back of your head.
“I’m Elvis. Elvis Presley.”
You nodded and flashed him a smile, tapping the back pocket of your shorts where you had put the coaster in. He grinned and nodded, slowly leaving the cafe, hoping you’d call him and go through with this.
A pretty girl like you shouldn’t have to work in a shitty place like this.

You watched him go and the entire time your boss was giving you an earful about work ethics as you stood behind the bar, you barely heard the words coming out of his mouth. Quite frankly, you just weren’t paid enough to deal with this. You liked your co-workers but that’s all they were – co-workers. They didn’t pay your bills and neither did your shitty monthly pay that your boss gave you.
You wanted a change. No, you needed a change.
And maybe it was a naive and stupid thing to do, but for some reason, you had trusted that stupid American tourist.
Maybe he wasn’t even a director at all, but the longer your boss went on and on about your behavior, you decided it was worth the risk.
“You know what,” you interrupted him loudly, pulling your apron off and throwing it at his face. “I quit!”
Your boss threw a string of profanities to your head as you opened the cash register and grasped the amount of money he still owed you. He was too slow, and too fat, to stop you and before he could get to you, you were already halfway out the door. Though ofcourse, you didn’t leave without theatrically flipping him off.

You ran down the street, squirming your way through the crowd, and into a phone booth. Closing the door behind you, you fished the coaster out of your pocket and rang the number. You were connected to Elvis’ hotel and then put through to his room after several minutes. As soon as you heard his voice on the other side of the line, you inhaled a sharp breath of air and clenched the phone against your ear.
How bad could the porn industry really be?
The fact that you were a virgin didn’t strike you as a problem. Nobody had to know, did they? You were sure you’d be able to mask it.
Even from the director.
You stared at the people walking by the phone booth and leaned against the glass wall, your next words rolling off your tongue determinedly.
“When do I start?”

Hi! I’m not sure if you answer Oshi no Ko-related asks, but I saw your interpretation of Ai and your fanfic outline, and I was wondering, what are your thoughts on Hikaru Kamiki?
FYI, and also for anyone else who's thinking of sending me asks, I answer most kinds of asks. Anyways. Hikaru Kamiki.
I've heard that Aka Akasaka wrote a lot of OnK by the seat of his pants, even when it comes to its central antagonist. He'd had an ending he liked for a long time, but he hadn't even finished figuring out who the twins' father was until the Tokyo Blade arc or something. I cannot independently confirm any of this, but it would explain a lot of how Hikaru was written.
In concept, Hikaru is pretty much the perfect answer to "Who is the twins' father?" I'm sure a lot of people imagined that Ai's ex-lover who arranged her murder would be a powerful older man, some producer or whatever who used his influence to coerce Ai into a relationship she couldn't back out of until she got pregnant. But that couldn't be further from the truth.
Hikaru is a mirror image to Ai, crushed and broken by the entertainment industry in many of the same ways Ai was. Like Ai, he considers himself to lack innate value, that he has to be useful to people to deserve anything good. As Ai has an overwhelming fear that she is a monster incapable of love, Hikaru fears that he is a monster undeserving of love. Both feel isolated, until they find each other.
Introducing such a perfect foil to Ai would be a great way to explore themes that were cut shots by Ryosuke. The sexual abuse in his backstory provides another avenue for critiquing an industry which puts children in such positions oh so often. And he got to live a whole life that Ai never saw, just without his kids; how'd that end up?
And then there's the elephant in the room. Why did this boy kill Ai?
There are a lot of interesting answers to that question, but Akasaka chose none of them. Or rather, he chose enough incompatible answers that the interesting possibilities got drowned out by inconsistencies.
Let's look at the low-hanging fruit. Chapters 153-4 hint at some interesting answers. Ai and Hikaru's trauma stopped complimenting each other and started metastasizing, the tumor driving Ai away and making Hikaru assume the worst. And Hikaru kept assuming the worst, let it fester. When given a chance to scare his ex into maybe giving him a second chance, he took it, not thinking for a second what the consequences might be. And when Hikaru realizes how wrong he was about their relationship, he breaks down.
But four chapters later, Aqua confronts Hikaru again. And this Hikaru acts in a completely different manner. That breakdown was fake, I guess. Hikaru's just an evil guy with "lying eyes". He was behind everything, even the stuff Aqua said he couldn't be behind four chapters ago. He's gonna kill Ruby, his own daughter, Ai's daughter, to preserve Ai's legacy. This isn't the first time. Hikaru's just a serial killer. Ai wasn't the only woman he had killed. Nothing special. Just a thing he did.
...
Look, there are probably ways to make this work from a Watsonian perspective. Maybe Hikaru was lying until that creepy-ass smile. But it's hard to look at endgame Hikaru from a Watsonian perspective, when his change in presentation is so obviously a decision made by the author.
And yeah, everything these characters do is a decision made by the author. But it was usually hidden better than this. It's easy for me to suspend my disbelief for, say, the volume 1 Hoshino family. The dual reincarnation thing is objectively less realistic than anything Hikaru did, but it's easier to suspend my disbelief for it because Aka Akasaka put in the work to make everyone involved feel like people.
And Hikaru just doesn't. And that sucks.

I just realize that despite ch 162 probably being the last time we'll see Hikaru that we still don't really know what he's done? Like look at what the story has told us about his actions.
He somehow very conveniently come across Nino and Ryosuke, two already incredibly unhinged people who are obsessed with Ai. (Hikaru said that they approach him but then Aqua said he was lying but like how would Hikaru be able know about these two's brainrot obsession with Ai.)
And then when he kept hijacking the conversation to talk about his ex gf, instead of idk cutting him out of their lives, they just let him. (Srsly tho, Nino, my toxic little lesbian, what are you saying? "He wouldn't let us forget about Ai" YOU AND RYOSUKE LITERALLY SPENT ACTUAL YEARS LIVING WHILE SURROUNDED BY Ai OF B-KOMACHI MERCH! You stayed in the same idol group as Ai for years, even after her death. Did Hikaru point a gun at you and force you do any of that?)
He told them about Miyazaki but was he actually there? Tsukuyomi said that there was a middle school boy, but now I'm wondering if that has been retconned. Since we don't see Hikaru there in the flashback panel. Considering Nino and Ryosuke's shared look of shock and terror, I can confer that Gorou's death was completely unplanned. Does Hikaru know about this? Did he helped hide the body? Was he even there at all? Who knows!!
He gave Ai's address to Ryosuke. In 154, he said that he just wanted to scare her but in 160 he said that he just hadn't built up the courage to go meet her. Why did he changed his testimony like that's not suspicious at all? Was he banking on Aqua not noticing the contradictions?
Apparently he's a serial killer, how has Hikaru, a fairly affluent and powerful high-profile person in the entertainment industry, been going around killing other high-profile figures in the entertainment industry? How did he killed Yura again? Did he pushed her off the cliff and then came down the mountain? (If that was the case then he must have good athletic abilities, too bad none of that mattered in his confrontation with Aqua) Wait, didn't Aqua attributed Yura's death to Nino? How did she come into play here? Then again, Aqua also said that Hikaru being the mastermind made no sense, so??????
He also had a hand in Nino's stabbings attempt on Ruby. By uhhhh, *check notes* telling Nino that they should turn themselves in, I guess.
You can patch up these weird contractions by deduction, but like what @aihoshiino said in her chapter reviews, it feels less like the story encouraging you to think hard and come to your own conclusions, and more like the story just forgot to give you key information and expecting you to do the hardwork of piecing things together into a coherent picture.

hi, friends. it's been a long day for me, but i couldn't end it without addressing this. it's a long post, so if you want to skip to concrete plans moving forward, refer to the indented portion, but i would be grateful if you read this in full.
while i haven't been a rahrah carat until relatively recently, seventeen has been in my radar for awhile. for a long time, i saw them through the lens of gratitude, for the happiness they have given to people dear to me. upon becoming a carat, i also grew to love and admire them, even as that came with numerous instances of criticism and raised eyebrows.
i am profoundly disappointed in the recent actions various seventeen members have taken. vernon, who has taken pride in his creative work and is surrounded by wonderful minds, admitted to using genai. scoups and mingyu, who were admired for exemplifying masculinities that make people feel safe and not afraid, appeared on choiza’s show, a man who has done egregious harm to a young woman. even before that, svt repeatedly platformed people who either are or have aligned themselves with zionists, misogynists, and anti-semites.
all of these are true: one, that seventeen has been clear that their contracts permit them to refuse to appear in shows or participate in activities. two, as this redditor pointed out (ss from twt), that things like power dynamics and hierarchy may have also played a part in their appearance, as well as pragmatic business choices. three, that there is often a balancing act, in the entertainment industry, between business deals and personal morals/principles.
regardless, i think that we as fans have the right to not only criticize (which many have done already), but set boundaries on how much we are willing to stand with them by, visavis our principles. even if it's true that they aren't bad people, there should not be anything wrong with taking a step back when hurt or uncomfortable, or even dropping them entirely.
while i think it's incredibly valid to be discomfited on the grounds of being a woman, seeing the actions of these men (i know i am), i invite everyone, regardless of gender identity, to reflect on how disturbing these actions and their implications are. issues such as those on genai and zionism cut across gendered lines, and even the choiza issue should not be something only women are disgusted by.
the following works are ones i promised to post at some point, or have begun working on: ot13 x studio ghibli series, love after love (woozi, kwan, mingyu) series, and a few other stuff. the members i am the maddest at are seungcheol and mingyu. then vernon. maybe hao if that video on his ig is actually ai. maybe also wonwoo since he very likely greenlit collabing w el capitxn. across svt x ghibli, i only have yjh's in progress atm, but i will be gauging how eager/reticent i am to write the above members as i go along. i still plan to keep my promises, and circumstances may change if in the coming weeks svt owns up to their mistakes. but the asap timeline i had w svt x ghibli is out the window. at the very least, seungcheol and mingyu's installments may come out considerably late, if at all. regardless, anything i write for the members does not mean i condone their behavior or choices. and if nothing changes, i don't think i’d want to churn out new ideas anymore.
anyway. boycott responsibly, and never be afraid to learn more about issues that you find concerning. keeping your humanity intact matters more than irresponsibly accepting everything svt does as gospel. much love <3
