Mulder is charming because his jokes and jabs aren't self indulgent. He doesn't tease Scully for peer validation or to feed his ego, he does it to get a reaction from her.

I don't think his character was written to be funny, but he is funny to Scully. He's plenty attractive and gets enough attention to be obnoxious about it, but he isn't. He's an oxford graduate and could take this stance of intellectual superiority, but he doesn't.

He values Scully's opinion from day one. He listens, he checks in with her, he gages her reaction. And that's endlessly more appealing to see than an arrogant and self assured playboy male lead. He's not a romantic hero but he also is.

Top Ten Worst Moments of My Life: last night my fiancée paused the House ep and whispered something in my hard of hearing ear that i didn't quite catch. i THOUGHT she mightve said we should fuck and come back to the ep later ??? but that's pretty out of character for her and it was a really good hilson domestic ep so i just said "watching house and wilson is like sex to me" and hit play, assuming that if she really did want to have sex she would scoff and pause it again.

apparently thats exactly what she wanted but she didnt scoff nor did she pause it. she let it play. we watched the whole episode. she just took it at face value that i would rather watch house and wilson queerbait than have actual gay sex

On this day (February 16) in 1903 the Peter and Cox munitions factory in Fostoria, OH explodes, killing nine workers and seriously injuring three more. Among the dead is Hettie Purnell, age 16. Her father is Benjamin F. Purnell, is the head a local colony of Christian Israelites, The House of David, more colloquially referred to as "The Flying Rollers."

Adult Flying Rollers take the Vow of the Nazirite (Numbers 6), which forbids contact with the dead. As a result, Purnell refuses to claim his daughter's body from the morgue, or even acknowledge that she has died. Locals have a hard time understanding this, and turns against the Christian Israelites. An angry mob assaults their church, but is repelled by the police. The Christian Israelites get the message, though, and relocate to Benton Harbor, MI.
