I don't take selfies. Ever. But I can't preach unconditional self love if I don't practice it. In the midst of battling lighting and background noise on a laptop that was quiet before I tried filming, I caught a glimpse of myself on the screen and for the first time in a long time I saw someone I loved being. Someone worth loving. Tired and sick and cold and messy but still worth loving. This is what up at 3 a.m in a cold house with wet hair and an uncooperative laptop looks like. What waiting looks like. Waiting for the part to arrive so we can fix the furnace and warm this old cold house up. Waiting for paperwork and doctor's appointments and help for my youngest looks like. What waiting for a laptop to stop rattling so I can finally finish filming that video looks like. What waiting for a throat to heal looks like. What stubborn looks like. What not quitting looks like. What a lot of years on this planet trying to do better looks like.
