Crime Sorciere Headcanons cause I'm obsessed

Meredy is the only optimist in the group. It's a bunch of sad drama queens and then Meredy desperately telling them everything is gonna be okay

Jellal just straight up gives up some days. Like everyone's being a little shit and he just sits down and pretends none of them exist. Imagine a parent ignoring their kid yelling their name over and over again.

Ultear and Jellal have huge sibling energy. Richard isn't fully convinced they aren't actually brother and sister

Thanks to Richard repeatedly saying the word love. They all also say it all the time. It's become a kind of greeting between them. "Love?" "Love."

All of them are dumbasses. Not a single braincell in the group. Sawyer blew up the microwave and Ultear in response froze it in time. It still sits in the kitchen halfway exploded.

"So Erik can man up and ask out a Fairy Tail woman but Jellal..." "Shup up shut up shut up"

Meredy is super organized and wants a constant schedule. Erik is the opposite and it drives her nuts (she's convinced he does it just to fuck with her)

"Let's wake up Macbeth" "NO". Do not interrupt that mans sleep

(A shorter fic I wanted to write after making the Erik and Macbeth headcanons. I wanted to display Little Erik's tendency to cry wolf lol.)

Erik was officially frustrated.

He and Macbeth were taken down to Fairy Tail to meet with another Little for their first playdate. But he didn’t want a playdate! He wanted to be with his Bubba, but Bubba was talking with other Caregivers in the other room.

Erik hated it. He wanted his Bubba more than those other stupid Caregivers needed him. 

It didn’t help that the Little, Juvia, was stupidly insistent on being in his space. Every time she tried to get closer, he tried to bail out of the room, only for Bubba to bring him back each time with a subtle scolding that trying to abandon Juvia was rude.

He could tell Macbeth didn't care much either. The younger Little was constantly in and out of consciousness. He would wake up, push a couple blocks around, then pass back out.

This whole playdate thing was stupid.

When Juvia pushed herself into his space again while waving a toy in his face, he started listening. He knew he wasn't allowed to listen in on people’s thoughts, but nobody had to know. When he caught a stray thought from her, he smirked slightly.

Juvia was a biter it seemed. He heard various memories from when she got in trouble for it and he even caught her wanting to do it now but refraining from it to avoid getting into trouble.

With his scheme in mind, he lifted his arm to his mouth and bit down, avoiding biting deeply to avoid actual pain but deep enough to leave a noticeable mark.

With a deep inhale, he let out the best pained wail he could manage, which startled Juvia and prompted her to flinch away from him. 

Bubba would fuss over him for supposedly being hurt, while her getting into trouble was just a bonus to keep him entertained. It was his favorite trick to get what he wanted and the Caregivers were never the wiser!

Sure enough, his wailing and crocodile tears summoned the Caregivers. Richard scooped him into his arms while Gray went over to Juvia. “What happened? What's wrong?”

“J-Juvi doesn't-” Juvia started, but Erik was quick to cut her off with a loud, “Sh-she bit me!” while waving his ‘injured’ arm.

“She what?” Richard looked over at Gray, who, judging by his disappointed sigh, fell for the act hook, line, and sinker. 

“Raindrop, we talked about this,” Gray said as he picked up Juvia. The Little let out an indignant squeal, “But Juvi didn't! Juvi good!”

“I know you're good, Raindrop, but you still did a naughty thing. Let's go,” Gray carried her away. "You know what happens when you bite people."

“NO! Papa! Papa, no!”

“I'm sorry for that, Baby Snake,” Richard said as he examined the bite. “But she didn't even draw blood, so you'll be okay!”

Erik rested his head on Richard’s shoulder, and with his face hidden from his Caregiver, he couldn’t help the smirk he sent Juvia as she got taken away.

Juvia couldn’t believe it! That lying snake got her in trouble with her Papa and had gotten away with it scot free! She angrily sneered at his smirk as she mentally promised revenge.

The next time she saw Erik; he was going to pay for this!

My contribution to @ft-platonicweek! Unfinished, unfortunately, but I got some of it done!

Okay so another family. I've not done one in a while but if you expected me to go in order you were probably excited to hear about our ice boy over in Lamia Scale.

HOWEVER.

We're doing things differently today and I'm introducing you to not one, but two families (in separate posts mind you). The reason being is that I've been wanting to share these families for a while so now I'm going to.

So without further ado...

The Buchanan Family

Working with Crime Sorciere didn't leave a lot of room for a personal life, something the members were all to content with. At least until they began to expand their guild. Once dark wizards began coming to them for help, trying to get themselves out of the pit that was criminal life, suddenly there were many new faces around their mobile guildhall.

One such face attracted the attention of one Richard Buchanan. Spurred on at his brother, Wally's insistence that he deserved something good in his life after all the hardships, he found himself falling head over heels for her. And her for him.

It turned out fighting side by side and risking life and limb for the betterment of society drew people closer. Eventually they married and along came...

Maisy Buchanan

Raising a child among so many rough individuals presented it's own challenges. Thankfully such individuals were more than committed to turning their life around, meaning underneath their rugged exteriors were gooey centres. It really takes a village to raise a child and Maisy had a whole towns worth of people to help her.

She was never shielded from her father's past and grew up understanding the difficulties some people face throughout their lives that can lead them to dark actions. Knowing this Maisy has become a huge supporter for social and justice reform and is often seen supporting rehabilitation programs across the continent. Whenever she's not taking a stand she can be found providing aid at disaster sights using her construction magic to repair buildings and rescue trapped civilians.

you guys remember when racer was able to summon an army of magic motorbikes? because i do. i remember. why was his magic slowing time oh and also motorbikes.

the only other mage we see capable of utilising multiple types of unrelated magic is august, and yet racer can both slow time and also summon a shit ton of motorbikes as well as wield motorbike based attacks??

i think about this too often and honestly i just wanna see dead grand prix again cause that shit was hilarious awesome.

i've been thinking about midnight's "nightmare" spell, where he created a large scale illusion vs. erza & . . . ok so, the anime extended that scene so that midnight basically mind - read erza or something ( since i feel like it's a stretch that he'd know about rob & simon ) and i've decided to exclude that bit from my portrayal.

tl;dr — this is a meta / canon div. about how midnight's illusion magic works.

it definitely feels like the part with simon / rob was just anime padding to make the episode longer, because it doesn't actually make sense? it's a cool concept, but it's sorta godmod - territory, & in my opinion, midnight's illusions are reflections of his own fears, not anyone else's. basically, he's limited by the “illusions can only be as real as the caster's grasp on reality. yes this is a khr quote shhh” principle. they could create illusions of another person’s fears ( given that they know what those fears are ) but it wouldn't be as effective or believable, because they’re simply not as well acquainted with every gritty detail.

this also plays into what sets midnight's illusion magic apart from other illusions shown in the series ( mavis, ivan / alexis, etc ). because it's not actually just magicking intangible things into existence, it requires a much higher degree of familiarity with the subject. midnight can't create illusions of things that he's never really seen before, which rules out a lot of fantasy horrors ( but he can create an illusion of monsters that he's seen in his nightmares! ). on the other hand, his illusions aren't susceptible to the same pitfalls that actual illusion magic has ; that is, being aware that it's an illusion won't weaken or dispel the image.

going back to the “midnight creates illusions based on his own fears” thing, remember the battle with richard / hoteye?? midnight created an illusion of him losing to richard & panicking about being abandoned by brain ( which, tangent, is telling about how midnight felt about fighting a friend ; midnight usually creates illusions of his opponent losing! instead of tormenting richard, midnight tormented themself. anyway, ). midnight's fear of loss & abandonment is very real, & it made that illusion all the more stronger because of it.

and then!! in his fight with erza? he created an illusion of himself turning into a monster & using darkness magic. there's a lot to unpack there, but honestly? midnight is afraid of brain / zero, who uses darkness magic, just as much as he wants brain's acceptance. i could also go out on a limb & say that midnight is afraid of himself / what he's become too. this also lines up with macbeth creating an illusion of zero in the fight versus jellal ( though i largely do not like that fight & don't really factor it into my portrayal ).

metaphorically speaking, midnight's "nightmare" spell 'reflects' his own fears onto his opponent, which makes way more sense thematically & in practice.

I'VE BEEN SAYING THEY WERE IN LOVE SINCE THE BEGINNING. well i haven't been SAYING IT but i've been thinking it. Jura probably wouldn't want to be seen with an ex-criminal as of right now because he's on the council.... but also who's gonna tell him not to? the boss that he doesn't have?

Some Crime Sorciere joining Fairy Tail headcanons:

- Jellal wins his S-Class trial easily.

- Meredy quickly wins everyone’s hearts. She's very close with Lisanna.

- The fact that Erik can hear so well freaks them all out. A lot of them avoid him at first because of this.

- Mirajane plays matchmaker for all of them but instead of relationships, she’s trying to get them to befriend specific members of the guild.

- The Oracion Seis in particular need a lot of help making friends at first. They are so used to only having one another that they are terrible at being social.

- Mira and Erik form a very freaky friendship. She makes him special drinks with poison and he gives her the latest tea of fairy romance

- Jellal gets challenged to a fight at least 3 times a day. Everyone wants him to throw down with laxus or gildarts. He is not interested in the slightest

- Meredy loves the guilds fights. She hits you with the huge grin and then punches you right in the face. She’s a little terror

-Macbeth makes fast friends with Lucy and Levy because he often sleeps in the library which the two girls frequent often

-Sawyer and Richard love Jet and Droy. They are almost always spotted drinking together in the guild

Random rant but I really want to talk about this.

I believe with my whole heart that any character that gets a redemption arc (with a couple exceptions I will get into) have their powers and abilities nerfed.

The thunder legion- All shown as strong mages. Freed was able to hold his own for a good while against Mira's Satan soul which is nothing to sneeze at, he was able to keep runes up across the entire city while doing so as well and was also selected for S-class. Evergreen was also selected for this and fought Erza for a decent amount of time, even if she also did loose. And Bickslow, despite not being selected for S-class like his teammates is powerful in his own right, after all he helped fight against 4 Grimoire heart members at once. Then during the Tartaros arc, they are taken out at the beginning of the arc (even though Laxus walks around after inhaling more band particles than them) and then they are taken out at the beginning of the Alvarez arc as well as not even taking out anyone. They took out the robot body of one of the Springan 12. That's it.

The Oracion Seiz- I don't think I need to explain how they were strong in their first arc but I've been rewatching key of the starry heavens for Au purposes and Midnight nullifies Byro's magic. The guy who could stand toe to toe with Gildarts in the same arc. Ignoring Erigor and potluck since they aren't redeemed, three of the four have two types of magic now. Cobra has his dragon slayer lacrima and has basically turned his sensitive hearing weakness into a strength by being able to send attacks from the noise around him. Midnight has his reflector magic and darkness magic giving him both a defense and a offense on top of his illusions. Racer now has his slowing magic and his speed magic and Angel has her summoning magic which were able to square up with someone on Freed and Gray's level. Then the Tartaros arc comes, and putting my rant about Midnight's appearance to one side (like seriously how did his hair go such a desaturated grey, his skin turning sickly and his eyes going from red to grey. That doesn't make sense because he looked way different in Kotsh and Alveraz) Jellal should have had his ass handed to him by the seiz. Also I'm sorry but am I the only one that finds it kinda wrong that Jellal, the guy who had them continued their enslavement for who knows how long and then sold them off to Brain, practically forces then into his guild. And Jellal wasn't being controlled, he was brain washed. He chose his actions based on something he'd been lied to about and manipulated into believing but he had fu control. And he was never that strong and he was beat by Macbeth before but somehow wins against four of them.

Juvia- I feel really bad for Juvia because she isn't basically fawning over Gray, she is a really fun character but.... Yeah. I liked the concept of Gajeel and Juvia no longer working as a team in Kotsh because it was interesting to see two people who came from the same background having drifted apart and not knowing how the other fights anymore but that didn't really happen. So many times Juvia is just used for jokes like it's been forgotten she was S-class.

Gajeel- I am aware Gajeel probably gets the nicest treatment aside from Laxus and Jellal but see, he does still get tossed around some. My problem isn't so much his power takes a nose dive, it's more he's used for jokes so much but like, a lot of them are kinda nasty. Everyone makes fun of his singing where he can hear them but like that probably hurts his self confidence. He's putting in the effort to express himself with something he enjoys and then his guildmates shoot him down. Then when he decides to go train before fighting Laxus after Natsu gets one shot, everyone calls him a coward for running from a fight he realised he couldn't win and Lily even said that he thought Gajeel was a warrior, implying he now thinks less of him. Lily also later is ready to scold Gajeel like an angry mother. But like why is Gajeel considered a coward when honestly that was a smart decision on his part. He took some nasty hits from Laxus during the fighting festival arc and he is a lot more susceptible to Laxus' hits than Natsu. (Then again, the guild had a real nasty streak between the tenrou team return and Kotsh considering there is an episode where Lucy walks into the guild to get help after turning invisible and everyone is shit talking her, including Levy. I would like to pretend that episode didn't exist because that was just horrible in so many ways) then he's just knocked from the Fairies Vs Sabers battle, knocked out of the fight in Kotsh and it's played for laughs.

Sabertooth- The sabertooth mages are also incredibly strong but they just sort of get tossed aside more than a power issue. Yeah sure Sting and Rogue show up regularly and do something and sometimes Minerva and Yukino if they're lucky but we don't really get much from the others. Now I will admit I'm a big Rufus fan just as much as I am a fan of Freed and Totomaru so naturally I am upset that there isn't much content involving him but like they don't even get a proper fight. Rufus, Orga and Dobengal all get crucified and then we see nothing of them later on. Upsetting to say the least.

In short, all the guys mentioned deserve more screentime. You can bet your boots I'm mad we haven't seen anything of Cobra, Meredy, Midnight, Richard and Racer during 100 years quest. Like I want to see what they are doing but nah. Naked Jellal. (Also was it necessary he say to Laxus' that he had been naked. I don't think he needed to know that) and extra mad both Rogue and Cobra never got a secret art because they deserve them.
