I am finally watching the last (?) episode of season 2 of HOTD, and goddamn, it keeps crashing- is this a sign? 😅

I'm still at the beginning of the episode mind you, and have restarted it for the third time, so no spoilers (even tho I actually know what's going to happen give or take, but still)! 🤨😤😘

I have too many opinions and emotions after watching the Season Finale, most of them being some sort of unsatisfactory feelings. However, the purest and cutest moment of the episode was when Ser Simon was surprised that he was wrong and started clapping when Daemon (followed by his gathered army) bent a knee for Rheanyra 🤌🏻💗

Ser Simon is a cutie and Lord Tully was sorely missed ✨

Funny how they made Daemon having a psychosexual relationship with his brother when it was Aemond with Daemon in the book.

I mean, I think it was completely one sided because Aemond was the one with the fixation. I don't think daemon gave much of a fuck. The only reason he even viewed Aemond as a threat was because of Vhagar (which he was 100% right about it)

now in the show.... I have no clue what they were trying to achieve with Viserys & Daemon. I only know that the 3 people who shipped them won hard when those interviews came out

Alicent goes to Rhaenyra to avoid shedding any blood, and the Rhaenyra she knew, the one she saw in the sept in 2x03 would have acceded to that. This new Rhaenyra, having amassed great power and now relishing in her newfound strength, does not cower at the thought of spilling Aegon's blood. It is Rhaenyra who believes she can have "all she wants" now that she imagines herself indestructible. Having lost all faith in the green cause, the Seven, and her expectations as Queen, Alicent becomes disillusioned with Rhaenyra herself. Rhaenyra can no longer talk of peace. Alicent's quest to find it as she preserves her and her children's lives fails. She's once again left alone to tread this difficult path of reconciling her duty to herself, her family, and the realm.

"A true Queen counts the cost to her people."

Alicent still is that true Queen, The Queen Who Ever Was, and she offers Rhaenyra the only way out, with the least possible casualties. But even in service to herself and her freedom, Alicent again shows altruism and is called to pay the highest price possible. She's destined to never be completely free and at peace, her inner torment always eating her soul as she drifts further away from the unattainable dream.

hmmm episode 7 probably my least favourite so far. i think a lot of this season has been accused of nothing happening and i don’t actually think that’s true, people sitting in rooms and talking is actually stuff happening. but this episode actually felt like nothing happened lol even though hugh and ulf got dragons and willem blackwood died and rhaenyra got a bunch of poor people ground under the wheel of war but all of this was paced out over like. a scene and a half so it felt verrry rushed. i wonder if this is where the writer’s strike/shortened season hit most? bc to give credit where it’s due the calibre of hotd writing is generally strong so it’s odd that they would indulge so much in the meditative and dreamy pacing of eps 1-6 knowing they had to cover this much ground in two episodes.

A DYING VISERYS LITERALLY HOBBLING UP TO THE THRONE TO ENDORSE RHAENYRA AND HER SONS, THE CROWN DROPPING OFF HIS HEAD AND DAEMON HELPING TO PICK IT UP AND PUT IT BACK IS SUCH INSANE SYMBOLISM😭😭 THIS FUCKING SCENE THIS WHOLE FUCKING SCENE THIS SHOW HAS ME IN SUCH A CHOKEHOLD WITH THIS DRAMA
