Fabio Zuffanti, principale fautore a livello internazionale della rinascita del progressive rock italiano, ha cominciato i lavori per il suo nuovo album  - successore del fortunato "La Quarta Vittima" del 2014 - che vedrà la luce ad inizio 2017 su etichetta AMS.

365 Day Movie Challenge (2015) - #272: Autumn Sonata (1978) - dir. Ingmar Bergman

I was not fully prepared for the emotional intensity of this Ingmar Bergman drama, during which I cried so much that snot dripped down onto my lips and chin (and of course I had no tissue or napkin on hand and I didn’t want to move, transfixed as I was) while I sat in the audience at BAM’s screening in their Ingrid Bergman centennial retrospective. I have seen quite a few Ingmar Bergman films in my time, and yet none that I can recall has ever moved me quite like Autumn Sonata did (not even The Silence, which is perhaps still my favorite). Ingrid Bergman’s performance was excellent, another example of what a fascinating actress she was - as well as a sad reminder of how much she should have been able to do if she had lived longer - but the real revelation for me was Liv Ullmann’s performance as Bergman’s daughter. It astounds me that there are moviegoers who don’t like Ullmann’s work here; I find it astonishing, literally taking my breath away (you remember, my stuffed nose...) in some scenes. Halvar Björk is also very good as Ullmann’s husband, Lena Nyman too as Bergman’s invalid daughter and even Gunnar Björnstrand in a silent but sweet cameo at the end as Bergman’s agent. Throughout, Sven Nykvist’s cinematography captures the tragic light of this family’s autumn days, both the crisp, cool outdoors and the warm, golden light of candles indoors. Autumn Sonata might be tough for some viewers to watch, but if you are willing to take the risk, you will be rewarded by one of Ingmar Bergman’s (and Ingrid’s) richest stories.

Con a fianco in pianta stabile il tastierista Luca Scherani, che si occupa anche degli arrangiamenti orchestrali, con un ensemble di archi, legni e ottoni, e la bravissima Laura Marsano alla chitarra, Zuffanti si muove senza indugi all’interno della migliore tradizione del prog sinfonico, asciugando gli orpelli che negli anni 70 ne hanno connotato taluni episodi (non troverete i 7 minuti di assolo di batteria del "Concerto Grosso" dei New Trolls, per intenderci), dando vita a una trama avvincente, creativa e concreta, così concreta dal risultare accessibile anche per chi non è di stretta osservanza "progressiva".

"Uno debe aprender a vivir, yo practico cada día. El mayor obstáculo es que no sé quién soy. Tropiezo en la oscuridad. Si alguien me quisiera por lo que soy... podría, por fin, examinarme a mí misma. Es una posibilidad bastante remota."

Tras La hora del lobo, ésta es mi segunda favorita de Bergman.
