!!!NEW REVIEW!!!
the first surviving animated adaption of Dr. Seuss' work. the first cartoon directed by Bob Clampett with his new unit of animators to not involve Tex Avery in some way. the short that, by Clampett's own words, solidified the trust of his animators: Horton Hatches the Egg certainly bears a lot of important firsts. an adaptation of the beloved children's book, Clampett's own love of the story is certainly reflected in his short, nailing the perfect balance of heart, obedience to the source, comedy, ingenuity, and some juvenility for good measure. just as the story goes, the short revolves around Horton's loyal efforts to take care of lazy Mayzie's egg after she skimps out--an effort that is much easier said than done.
#this has been one of the most labor intensive reviews i've done in awhile in terms of research so ENJOY!!#lt#looney tunes#horton hatches the egg#clampett#reviews

Is "Horton Hatches The Egg" the last appearance of Slappy, chronologically?
as if to imply that Slappy would ever shuffle off of this mortal coil... he could withstand it. Horton Hatches the Egg was just before Standards and Practices was a thing so that's why we didn't hear an "I'M OKAY" in the distance
TANGENTIAL but i was just talking in a Zoom meeting with the crew recently how cool it is that we get to go full circle with these references. like how celebrity references have both eluded and amused kids and adults for years growing up watching LT, we get to push it forward with Slappy! or even way beforehand with Nosferatu! i'm very lucky to work on a show that still allows kids and adults all over the world to ask the question of the century: who is this guy and why does he look like that?
#have seen stories floating around where it's said that Lorre was caricatured by the LT guys because of him being ousted by WB or whatever#and i don't have any evidence to disprove it but certainly don't see any evidence proving it so i'm here to say that i would maybe not#believe that#i don't think there's much to it beyond that they enjoyed his movies and thought he had an easily caricaturable face#i think this would be a point brought up in more interviews if it was the case#so. the more you know!#anonymous#asks

A Horton Hatches the Egg AU. Lucy is Horton. The egg belongs to a dragon. Lucy takes such good care of the egg that when it hatches, it's a tiny half-dragon, half-Lucy (i.e. a baby version of Simon at the end of Carry On).
New Carry On prompt!

Know Me
I think you can get to know a person pretty well when you know what their preferred media to consume is. And I guess in an effort to let a couple people here know me better, I have made an unordered, inexhaustive list of movies, TV shows, and books that I really liked. I know I've left some off, especially the books list. There are a lot of books and movies I've enjoyed but these are ones I'd repeat, some over and over and over without ever getting tired of them. I didn't include any music or visual art here, because that's too hard to list and it's too mood dependent. Maybe I'll make a musical artist list some other time. Anyway here you go.

Easter special, you know what that means!
Mort lays an egg on this particular day, and just straight up abandons it because it doesn't want anything to do with the egg. Peppino has to try and take care of it until he comes back, while also attempting to avoid noise's pranks, pizza head's tomfoolery, and much more. But he also wants to do it so the egg can have some company and not feel so lonely. When mort comes back, and asks for the egg to make an omelette, peppino refuses to give the egg back since he bonded the most with it for the entirety of the episode. They are about to get into a fight when the egg hatches. Its a baby chick, with a chef hat and speaks Italian, like peppino! Awww! This was basically inspired by Horton lays an egg. Where the bird abandons her egg and is up to the elephant to take care for it, and the elephant is rewarded of doing so. Peppino being the elephant and Most being the bird.

There's officially 4 Peter Lorre fish now.
The resigning fish (Horton Hatches an egg)
The Staring Herring (The Beany and Cecil Show)
Slappy Laszlo and Slippy Lotte (Spongebob Squarepants and The Patrick Star Show)
Technically 7 if we count the Slappy clones from that one Patrick Show episode.
Dang, the doof meme cannot keep up with all of these guys lol
On the plus side, it's nice to have enough lorre homages for a little peter lorre aquarium. Also thankyou for using my name for the horton fish lol

Happy Brothers
I know The Cheat wasn't supposed to be around until Strong Bad was probably an adult, but I prefer it this way. I feel bad for disrespecting the Chaps' original vision, but... The canon is not really 100% clear, in on episode it implied Tiny Handed Strong Bad is not the current Strong Bad, so I just decided to go with my own canon. Basically, Strong Bad brought home a mysterious egg, and Teenage Strong Mad starting treating the egg like his baby. (Yeah, kind of a Horton Hatches the Egg thing, except for the genetic mutation) And he hatched into a baby The Cheat!
Also, I wanted to give Strong Mad a different outfit from his wrestler uniform. I prefer him not to have tights at a young age.
I almost included their mom but I'm now not sure what to do with any other family members at the moment. I had a really edgy idea of what their cousins would be like, but I'll have to think on if I want to continue the ideas.
