Gotta love when you can tell that a character has absolutely been through/witnessed a form of The Horrors when the metaphorical light leaves their eyes.

Okay! So I have decided to write a fic about HW Link! I was debating if I was going to just write it in a bunch of one shots or if I was going to write a full fic. I have decided to make it a full fic!!
With that being said, I have also decided the amount of sibling Link will have. I'm going with 6. He has two brothers and four sisters.
I'm going to need names for them! One sister is Linkle, so I just need names for the other five. You can literally throw out some names for me that you like, and I'll see which ones I feel like fit the most, or they might be saved for other characters throughout the story.

The Lab AU idea seems super interesting, maybe some more art of how exactly the experiments work for everyone? Or maybe art of Sonic being a big bro to Tails and Amy?

i saw solei’s kind of reaction to the sai/vera incident in that one ask… and i have a few questions…
how does solei react to seeing death or near death experiences in general? and have they seen something die before? i wonder if they think about their own death, and how that would impact others including themselves? i have no idea if any of this has been answered before i just got so curious
also, do you think they’d be the type to visit vera while she’s getting better?
Solei has never faced the heavy kind of death before. Even their first time processing the "death" of little things such as bugs and flowers happened in the Anakt Garden, and it left them incredibly distraught. the alien guardians tried to comfort them by telling lies, the same kind of lies that they'd hear at home. stuff like "it's just sleeping. we'll put it back together later." Or even (when they're especially exasperated) "it's not real. just don't worry about it too much". It still makes Solei upset, and they purposefully turn a blind eye or act obliviously in order to avoid the uncomfortable feeling. They kind of mentally block it out because it worsens their paranoia and inner turmoil. The world is still good!! Life is meant to be beautiful and free of agony!! (incredible amounts of coping)
I think Solei's concept of death is very much like the other kids in canon ALNST where they don't think much of it when they're young (due to the brainwashing), but as they grew older they slowly became more aware of it as a concept (not yet as a real thing that can actually happen) and then once graduation hits they're like "oh yeah. we might actually die". They're very much like Mizi in this way, she didn't realize the true stakes until she was face to face with Sua's dead body.
Solei was raised in a "family" that was almost..... cult-like? for lack of a better word. Ouro encouraged their fascination and adoration of life and purposefully designed their enclosure to be chaotic, but not cruel. Nothing ever died in there, and the head of their "family" (the eldest "sister", Aeos) bordered on worshipping the concept of immortality, singing about how things must live forever. (I could go into more detail into Aeos because the way she raised Solei played a big part in their worldview, but I feel like things are already getting complicated lol)
Sai attempting to murder Vera was probably the starting point for Solei's downward spiral (though they kept that shit to themself because. there are literally more pressing matters right now). To those who haven't experienced/had any experience with death, it can almost seem like something far away or unimaginable. Thats what makes it so horrifying to finally witness. Vera didn't die, but the possibility and realization of it (the fact that it happened to a person, someone that Solei was fond of) began to make Solei absolutely terrified and along with their mounting stress after certain revelations, is what drove them to their disappearance that night.
Solei would visit Vera!! To comfort her, but also in large part to comfort themself by seeing her alive. They cried once in front of her (embarrassingly) and usually mentions how happy they are that she's still alive. They'd carve her a little wooden dove.

im choosing ignorance for right now but will cover it at the end of this (this being a whole essay 💀)
So, it looks like Baylan has a green kyber crystal in his belt. This post and others have pointed it out
Tumblr media
Obviously, this begs the question of whom did it belong to? Immediately the thought would be Baylan’s. He was a padawan of the Jedi Order, trained into knighthood, and eventually a general during the Clone Wars. He created his own lightsaber hilt and (maybe, idrk exactly how it works forgive me) chose his own crystal. And, even if he didn’t, it was still a part of who he was for that portion of his early life.
We learned last episode he misses the idea of the Order. With Baylan, there’s a heavy amount of sentimentality associated with the Jedi, especially if we believe (which I do wholeheartedly) that he lost a padawan.
But that’s what begs the other question—is the crystal from his padawan? Did he take it from his padawans lightsaber and keep it for himself to carry on the memory of that kid (who i like to think was a female but that’s the girldad lover in me speaking)? Was it motivated by grief? Has he allowed himself to grieve at all, and if not, was taking the crystal his way of avoiding that emotion?
Or was it motivated by grief? There is no emotion, only peace. Is that when he ditched the code? How could he have any sort of peace after losing his padawan? Or, did he find that peace in keeping the crystal?
But then there’s my other question—what’s the significance of it? Dave Filoni, from what I’ve seen, is intentional. I don’t think adding what looks like a green kyber crystal in Baylan’s belt is just some sort of happenstance that didn’t have any thought behind it.
And, with Baylan’s character, it’s way too significant. When it comes to how he feels about the Jedi, how he seems to actually feel a little bad about having to kill Ahsoka in episode 2. His relationship with Shin. The padawan braid. It all screams significance to me.
So, when it comes to significance, what role is it going to play by the end of the show? I really cannot see it being included and making Baylan’s character so nuanced and intriguing and then not doing anything with it.
Mundi and I were talking about this earlier today. I mentioned these main two points, but also this-
Tumblr media
And then Mundi had to drive the stake further through my heart and twist it around by basically saying what if Baylan’s dying act was giving Shin his crystal (still thinking about this mundi THANKS)
I said a stretch at first, but it doesn’t seem too far-fetched anymore (except for her becoming fully good). Now, I don’t want Baylan to die. He’s the last character I want to die and I love him, BUT…
How he dies? I have no idea. Thrawn, Morgan, Enoch? Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra? Betrayed by Shin? (very doubtful i feel) I think there’s a lot of options of how it could happen, if the cards are played right.
So if we think that’s the case, Shin is around when he dies or mortally wounded. Maybe she sees it happen to him like how he saw it happen to his last padawan. Shin is distraught, the most emotion we see from her because, well, it’s Baylan who’s trained her and borderline raised her, and they have a moment together before he passes. Baylan makes her take the crystal (which would hit a lot harder if it is his original one and did not belong to his padawan) and they have some sappy goodbye that’ll have me crying for six weeks.
We’ve also all talked about how Shin and subtext from some of her lines that indicates some sort of… longing or curiosity regarding the Jedi. If, within the last two episodes, those are confirmed or it’s revealed that Baylan could sense that feeling in Shin, i think (assuming he does die in this way) giving her his crystal makes sense.
Maybe she keeps it as sentimental in her own belt as I don’t see her turning fully to the Light in the show. But, if there’s another season, who knows.
Going back four paragraphs, I believe if it were Thrawn or Morgan who killed him or orchestrated his death, Shin would not follow them back. She’d go with Ahsoka and the Gang TM home in the purrgil mouths. She clearly hates Peridea and, if Ahsoka and the crew are there to witness Baylan’s death (for whatever reason), they could have sympathy on Shin maybe and help her home.
OK. I hope that covered those thoughts in a somewhat coherent fashion. Here’s where that chosen ignorance comes in.
Tumblr media
Shin’s braid. An anon actually sent a link to a tweet with both this AND the Baylan one in one post, so thank you nonnie for that!
Anyway. Shin’s braid. Three (four?) green kyber crystals.
Why.
Did they, for some reason, come from Baylan? Did he just have a cluster of them and he gave her a few to include in her braid?
If the braid was her idea, did she want them included in it? Did they still come from Baylan if that’s true? Did she want to feel that connected to the Jedi from the start of her apprenticeship with Baylan to include them in her braid?
If the braid was Baylan’s idea, did he include them? Weave them through the strands? Did he talk to her about including them? Including crystals in a padawan braid wasnt traditional, to my knowledge (not that they are traditional jedi). Was it some sort of selfish choice? Was the ghost of his padawan still lingering in the middle of these two that he felt he had to?
WHAT DOES IT MEAN. WHY ARE THEY THERE. WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE.
I NEED THEIR WHOLE STORY RIGHT NOW

truly anyone could tell i just finished oh no! here comes trouble by taking one look at my blog right now. but also!!! i just finished oh no! here comes trouble and omg what a fucking show!!!!!!
it truly has everything. romance, comedy, angst, mystery, beautiful fucking cinematography. the framing of shots in this show was art!
i mentioned recently that i wanted a show like i promised you the moon and the eighth sense and somehow this hit that spot. oh no! here comes trouble (what is the fucking short hand title for this show?? it is far too long, going to use on!hct for my purposes) definitely had a more lighthearted tone but it had depths so deep you could drown and was cinematic af and the relationships were so fucking excellent. and the fucking acting, truly phenomenal.
i love the investigation trio. i love that they filled in the gaps for each other. that intelligence wasn't overvalued. that there was a time for everything and people and their feelings were the center that the show revolved around and that's why yiyong was the core. i loved that yiyong didn't magically gain common sense or magical crime solving abilities. that he constantly asked for help and gave it and this whole show was about the red threads of fate that connect people to each other and it was so so good at showing those threads in literal and metaphorical ways.
this show simply felt so sincere and earnest and i'm literally crying because it was so fucking lovely to watch. every character in this show changed and grew and had feelings and struggled and the show was so fucking kind to them and their stories.

Any SPN archangel/archangel or archangel/angel ship: 6 (kiss on a falling tear)? 🥺
I bring for you gabriel/raphael content. though i may be briefly overtaken by doctor who fever, i shall never forget my true home.
Raphael is prone to tears.
Their vessel is overzealous with them, producing some for sadness, anger, even pure joy.
As Gabriel well knows now. He’s eager to make them laugh as much as he can now that he’s in their life again. If Lucifer seemed to take all the light and beauty of Heaven with him when he fell, then Gabriel had tucked the laughter away before running and left none behind for Michael and Raphael to keep.
Raphael missed him so much that it hurts to be near him. They lean into the ache. They’d rather it be a part of themself than the loss they’ve held onto for centuries. Gabriel is still finding a common ground with Michael, still circling Lucifer warily without even thinking about forgiveness yet, but he settles back into place beside Raphael like he belongs there.
“I’m going to give you a tour of Earth one of these days,” Gabriel’s saying. His wings brush theirs, his caution abandoned from the first time they’d been reunited and replaced with a desperate need to touch them again. “You’re so doom and gloom about it all. There’s some awful things, sure, but screw all that, Raphael.” He comes closer, slides into their lap until their noses could brush. “There’s some pretty amazing things down there, too,” he whispers that softer, like a promise.
“Like what?” They would see the world through Gabriel’s eyes, if they’d show him.
“Well, for one, pay-per-view. Heaven’s not getting that channel.” Gabriel’s voice shifts easily back into relaxed teasing once he knows he doesn’t need bait to the hook for them. He can save sincerity for when he’ll need it most, once they’re down in the dirt and he has to convince Raphael it’s all worth it.
Raphael laughs. It rings through their whole grace. They let their head fall forward against Gabriel’s, and they feel him rub their noses together on purpose this time, nuzzling them. Gabriel spots the gentle well of tears at the corners of their eyes. He’s transfixed, and his expression only makes them laugh more. He’s so close, bearing down on that perfectly painful ache of what they could have had if he’d never left, and that’s what makes a tear finally slide down their cheek rather than wait caught on their eyelashes.
Gabriel watches it fall. His hand darts up. They feel his fingers on their cheek, curled to catch the tear. He stares at his tear-stained finger like he’s caught a star out of the sky. Raphael blinks, and another tear falls.
Gabriel doesn’t hesitate. His lips press to their cheek, capturing the tear before it even makes it halfway down. He draws back, and there’s a shine on the top of his lip that wasn’t there before.
“They were for you,” Raphael says. “You can take them.” Gabriel’s mouth twitches like he can’t decide if he wants to smirk or smile.
“Was going to anyway,” he mumbles, but he bumps their foreheads together again.

My absolute favorite part of going through texts is when they say "alum is found in a variety of locations in the Mediterranean but Egyptian alum was highly sought after in the ancient world." A thousand questions explode in my mind~ Where! When! How?! Why?! I'm on the second page!! Tell me more!!
"Its value is underscored by the famous historical episode of the thousand talents of alum that were offered by Amasis, together with the rights to twenty alum mines sent by Greeks living in Egypt, in order to restore the temple of Delphi after its destruction in 548 BC (Herodotus 2.180)."
THAT'S SO FUCKING COOL.
"Extraction of alum in Egypt from Kharga went well into the later part of the nineteenth century, after which its mining became less lucrative with the advent of synthetically produced alum." (?!) (is this referring to the aluminum bayer process...?)

It's really interesting and helpful to see these simblr storytelling polls going around at the moment, and actually get a bit of clarity on what people want in a story....but it also makes me low key anxious cuz I feel like i do the exact opposite of what people want to see in a simblr story with Volatile 😅

so i made a post the other day on all the questions win asks in the entire show cos he’s “the questions guy”
(see here for that post)
so then i made a table of how many times he asks questions in each part of each episode and now im gonna analyse it cos otherwise doing all of this would feel entirely pointless and like ive wasted 6-8 hours for nothing, SO
Tumblr media
asking a question generally indicates that you are confused/uncertain about something, or you’re inquiring in order to learn more
the most questions asked at any one point in the episode is always at the 3/4 part, which ive said before is always the ‘soundwin part’ of the episode. so win is more uncertain and confused in the parts that he’s around sound
Tumblr media
the main outlier of this is episode 9 4/4, but at that point its the flashback that wouldve been in episode 6 3/4 and the ‘main’ soundwin part of that episode (although episode 9 was like 50% focused on soundwin) so my point still stands
adding on to win asking more questions whenever sound is around, episodes 1-3 have barely anything. but as soon as we reach episode 4 - when sound enters the show - the numbers go up a lot
the only exceptions to this are episode 8, where the most was in 2/4, but only by one so im not counting it, and episode 1 1/4. but that’s the first episode of the show, the first part of the first episode, and naturally there’s gonna be a lot of questions cos the characters/audience dont know anything at this point and need answers as to what’s going on in the show (this is an actual thing in writing, it’s called the audience surrogate, where there’s a particular character/moment that exists in a piece of media almost solely to ask questions that the audience would be thinking. win isn’t necessarily an audience surrogate, but the beginning of something will almost always have a lot of questions), so that explains that
after sound enters the show, the only parts where win asks no questions at all are episode 4 3/4 (he literally doesnt even appear in that part so he cant rly ask questions if he’s not there), episode 9 1/4 (where the only speaking part he has is when he’s telling sound he saved him a seat. and there he’s technically asking sound a question (do you want to sit here?) but he doesnt explicitly word it as one and there’s no question mark in the subtitles, so i didn’t count it), and episode 10 1/4 (but i’ll explain that one at the end)
so win asks more questions - and is therefore more uncertain - in the moments sound is nearby, or in the moments he interacts more with sound.
and, as time goes on, win becomes more and more confused, he needs more answers to understand what the heck is going on inside him
Tumblr media
but then there’s a really sudden drop in episode 12. since sound entered the show, win’s amount of questions were above 10 every single episode. and then suddenly, without warning, he goes right down to 7, the lowest that its been since before episode 4 (excluding episode 10, which, again, ill explain at the end of this post).
so he asks so many questions, he’s so uncertain, he’s so confused whenever he’s around sound. and then suddenly, in episode 12, it clicks. he understands his feelings. he loves sound, sound loves him, theyre a couple. he tells his friends, and it just makes so much sense. the literal last question he asks is in the entire show is ‘what should i write down?’ - the last bit of uncertainty he has is literally just ‘how do i say it’. and he figures it out and properly confesses, right there on sound’s back. and then they kiss. and then win truly knows, he truly understands. he doesnt need to ask questions anymore, because he doesnt need to know anymore. he’s got the boy, and that’s all that matters.
--the exception of all of this is episode 10, but that makes sense cos that episode was almost solely focused on gim and gun, there wasnt much screen time with win where he could ask questions. im sure that if he’d been on screen more, there would’ve been way more questions. (but honestly 5 questions is still impressive for the like. 5 minutes of lines he gets that episode)

do u have any art tips?
i have a handful, yeah! idk how helpful they'll be because i'll be quite honest, idk what im doing, but i'll sure try to be as cohesive, comprehensive and helpful as i can!
pretty much my number one tip is the most annoying one to hear, which is unfortunate because it's also the most effective, but PRACTICE.
practice is genuinely the one thing that can improve your art like nothing else can.
experiment with your style, your coloring techniques, your poses, your anatomy, your use of perspective and background, anything and everything can and will help! one thing that also helps with that is finding elements of others art (their dynamic scenes/poses, their coloring or lineart style, the palettes they use, etc) and mess around with that until you find something you like.
ive been mostly doing that to try and improve my digital art because boy oh boy am i not great at that yet, and ive already noticed obvious differences between my digital art from a couple months ago to now.
depending on what medium youre using (digital, traditional) my tips would vary, because im still very new to digital art, and i mostly do traditional art.
for digital art if that's what you're using, just mess around with brushes until you find something that works best for you! dont be afraid to mess around w different methods of coloring and shading, and one thing that ive noticed makes art look a lot better digitally is using interesting color palettes and experimenting with the colors you use to shade and highlight. im not super great at this yet, so take this advice with a grain of salt lol.
for traditional art, you’d have to ask about a specific medium because i mess w quite a few and have different techniques for most, but i hope this helped at least a little, and i’d be glad to try and help further if you’d like! but as just a general overview that’s what’s been helping me A LOT lately and i’ve been improving pretty steadily!
i hope you have a great day ^^!

sorry if you've answered this before, but how do you draw/proportion bodies? The way you draw poses is so nice and fluid and I'd love to see how you do it! Your art is always such an inspiration to me, thank you for posting it
Hello! So first of all, that's a huge compliment and I really really appreciate it! I don't have the words, just. Dang. I really appreciate that so so much.
As for how I draw / proportion bodies, I don't really have a fully set process or anything, because almost all of what I do has been a result of me messing around and finding out for several years. That said, I'll try to go over some of my general process here and if clarification is needed for any part of this my askbox is always open and I'm happy to try and answer.
So I generally try to start with a rough gesture-ish shape for the torso that kind of establishes where I want the torso to sit and at what angle I want the hips / shoulders to be at. It helps for a pose to look a little more natural if there's a little bit of asymmetry and if the hips and shoulders aren't exactly at the same angle. Once I have that initial shape set up, I like to add the legs on, so I can get a feel for the weight distribution.
Tumblr media
Also notably, I have a little marker for the head on there so I know roughly where that will be placed.
Generally after this stage I'll go in and add arms, and when I do that I'll usually make clear note of the hands, then the shoulders, then connect them at the elbow. I'll also draw on the head at this point, and for that I like to mark where the collar bone would be. There's a muscle on both sides of the neck that starts at the collar bone and ends right below the ears so that's generally a good reference point. After that I'll draw on the jawline and start marking down the head shape and where the face will go.
Tumblr media
After this point I'll start adding on stuff like face, clothes, etc. (This ended up being a Bdubs)
Tumblr media
A few things to try and keep in mind for anatomy is rough skeletal and muscle structure. I find it helpful if I'm struggling with a pose to think about where the ribcage, pelvis, and joints would reasonably be, and usually that will help me deal with most issues I might have. Additionally, thinking about muscle structure and body fat helps better establish the external shapes of the character, so I try to think of those too while I'm drawing.
Tumblr media
This isn't super detailed, but I also marked here where rough skeletal points are and what the angles of the hips and shoulders are.
That said, that's not the only way I think about posing when I do start on a drawing. When I'm drawing something at a more intense angle, I prefer to start with whatever part of the body is closest to the camera and work my way back. When doing a more action- oriented pose, I tend to focus more on the line of action first so that I can do more with the gesture.
Tumblr media
If it's not completely evident from this page, though, not every pose I draw will work out. It's fairly common for me to end up with stiff poses or ones with weird, warped proportions, especially when I'm doing more action oriented or foreshortened poses. (But of course, I don't post all the stuff I make.)
I guess to give a few closing notes, I've found that taking in information about anatomy and posing from a lot of different sources has helped me improve at it. I took a life drawing class recently that taught a very traditional manner of drawing the human figure that had a lot of emphasis on accuracy, and I took an anatomy and physiology class a couple years ago, which helped me gain an understanding of the human figure on a more scientific level, which I found very helpful. That said, I've found that YouTubers like LavenderTowne have a lot of useful information on drawing stylized anatomy and fluid poses, and her Do This, Not That videos are very informative, so I recommend looking into those a little bit for more stuff.
And a few more closing notes, that I've found work well for me personally, I highly suggest sketching loosely and lightly, and being okay with not drawing perfect poses every time. I've found, for myself, that not committing to lines right away allows me more space to find that sweet spot, so to speak, where things just work. I've found myself erasing the same lines over and over again so many times. Heck I'll draw the same post multiple times to get it to look right. It might not always look right on the first try and that's absolutely fine. Quite honestly it doesn't have to look right on the first try. For every pose I draw that turns out nice I have probably an average of 15 that have been erased or scratched out. So, like... don't get too hung up on stuff being perfect. And another small bit! Exaggerate stuff! It's fun! But it also helps capture the feeling and energy in the pose more than anatomical accuracy does, and I'd argue that especially when it comes to stylized work, it's important to push stuff to be a little bit "more" than it "realistically" would be, because I've found that can also help with fluidity. Besides, if it's been pushed too much, it's a little easier to pull it back.
I hope that long winded spiel was at least a little bit helpful, and again if any of this needs clarification, lmk! And have a fantastic day :D

Consider: I need/want to write stuff so I can get back into a groove for it. You give prompt (fluff, angst, Hurt/Comfort, whump, gen, romantic, silly, serious, canon, canon divergence, AU, pretty much anything that isn’t explicit or suggestive), I write it, you get to see it when it’s finished. Yes? Cool? Send me an ask and I’ll see what I can do?
