How are the turtles individually with this whole situation?

Individually? Hmm, that's a good question!

Mikey obviously was thrilled at the chance to get to know his brothers for the first time.

The family he never knew, that he always dreamed of meeting some day.

Now's his chance to do just that!

It does take him a while to adjust to all of his brothers'. . . issues. There's a lot of things that can easily trigger the three of them, and Mikey has to keep an eye out for that.

Leo was hands down the quickest to adapt to the new environment. For the most part at least.

The apocalypse kind of forced him to be that way really. You either worked with what the universe was giving you, or you wouldn't survive.

Of course, he was still a bit on edge for the first few weeks, despite his attempts of hiding it behind his natural smile.

The peace and lack of any sort of conflict in general was pretty unsettling for him, but he'll work with it if it means he gets a second chance with the family he lost.

Donnie completely shut down any attempts the others made to get close to him. And this went on for a while.

He couldn't handle how nice everyone is being, how generous everything is. He's used to a life of pain and struggles, and now, being thrown into a life of luxury and comfort?

He's not used to that anymore.

And he's convinced it's all just an elaborate set up. It wouldn't be the first time it's happened, and in his mind, it probably wouldn't be the last.

To say Raph was uncomfortable with it initially would be a bit of an understatement.

The last time he saw his brothers, he had killed them with his own bare hands.

He still struggles with that guilt, and even after finally learning to relax and be "normal" around them all, the fear of the past repeating itself still weighs heavily on his mind.

honestly drawing is like the last thing im thinking of when im making a comic. Im not sure what your process looks like, everyone’s is different, but I'll share mine.

take a slice of that story: usually a minor conflict or a piece of dialogue you'd like to explore, something thats manageble, and begin by sketching out the main storybeats.

dont worry about the quality of your drawings until near the end of the comic. theres a reason why storyboards are so loose, they scrap so many drawings bcuz theyre trying to get a point across to serve a story, not make illustrations. I wouldnt clean up your drawings until you’re near certain no other changes will be made.

my focus when making a comic goes in this order:

plot/dialogue

composition/staging (placement of characters/setting/camera)

actually drawing

If it’s mainly because of “art style” I prommy you, the main thing that people will be paying attention to is the story. You gotta start somewhere, look at the one punch man og manga for example.

I think she generally gravitates towards comfy and practical styles! In addition to the stuff I drew above, she also likes big jackets and cardigans - kinda very "girl next door" vibes? Berets and capes also look really cute on her imo, you can see it on her chibi in this post. I really need to draw it some time, but if she could fully customize the NRC uniform she'd totally add a cape to it ww

In terms of accessories, she doesn't really wear them often! Maybe the occasional bracelet or necklace if it matches the outfit (or hair accessory if she styles her hair), but usually she doesn't have any.

Okay more seriously though i have never commissioned any artist to create anything for me. Any art that has been done for my stories was done by people finding inspiration in the story on their own (which is how I met @weirdcreepies in the first place! She liked my stories and reached out and we've been friends ever since!).

When I was first working on Saints, all I knew was that I wanted to write about sex more explicitly than before. While I was outlining the story and scenes, I was very blessed to be speaking with her at the same time and to have seen some of the nsfw stuff she'd done already. And so, with some begging on my part, she gave me permission to use her work for scenes in the story. It was already drawn before the story was written and the story was inspired by the art. While the story would exist without the art, there are whole scenes that wouldn't be in there without the inspo from weirdcreepies (plus it'd have been way worse without her beta (unrelated to the art))! If anything, my stuff in fanfic of hers 😂

does weirdcreepes do commissions? how did you get them to make nsfw stuff for you?

The prison was meant for dream? I thought it was always meant for Tommy?

Ahh well yes, the prison was in fact never made specifically for Tommy and despite what he says in the disc confrontation, Dream was not planning to put Tommy in the prison but in fact himself.

Why do we know this?

Well, for starters, even if we look just at that conversation, he actually says how the prison wasn’t meant for Tommy. So even if we believe his monologue and what he says about Tommy being the key and yada yada, then we too must also believe that the prison wasn’t built for Tommy [clip]:

Dream: “I’m going to lock Tommy away forever […] the prison, it wasn’t meant for you orginally, but now it is.”

But should we even believe his monologuing?

Is he not talking about putting Tommy in a maximum security prison while there’s just a little cage for Skeppy in the wall right behind him? - Does he not say that Tommy started the trend of attachments and yet Berkerson and Mars and Spirit all existed long before he joined?

These are just some of the things in that finale that don’t make sense. Because the truth is, it isn’t real. He meant to get caught. He meant to lose. He meant to get arrested. I mean otherwise why wouldn’t he have just left after Tommy killed him the first time, after all if he can revive Tommy, then Tommy’s threat to kill himself means nothing to Dream, and that’s even if he was telling the truth about Tommy’s importance to begin with. Tommy’s leverage isn’t real, Dream only came back because he wanted to. Because it was all part of his plan. It was all staged. Punz didn’t lead the others to Dream’s Vault because Tommy paid him more than Dream, because a man casually carrying around 15 Enchanted Golden Apples in his inventory isn’t going to be out paid by someone living in a dirt house.

Punz’s betrayal was staged and we know this because in more than one instance it is confirmed as much.

Just after Techno’s attempted assassination, in the same conversation of Dream saying how he appreciates Punz being by his side from the beginning, he tells Punz that he needs to no longer be on his side [clip]. That they must stage a divide of sorts so no one goes after Punz when they inevitably go after Dream. In the conversation we also see Dream looking at the prison and talking about how he’s going away for a bit [clip]. And this strikes Punz off guard and we see him struggling to process Dream leaving [clip] and more notably no longer being able to even talk to him [clip].

And if their plotting isn’t enough to convince you, then perhaps Punz giving Dream armor right after the jailbreak will as he says [clip]:

Punz: “I thought—I thought the plan was to meet here ages ago. I’ve been waiting for so long.”

But if that’s not enough, there is also what he says to Sam in Daedalus [clip]:

Dream: “Oh, I’m gonna put Skeppy in a two by one box? You think that’s what I’m gonna do? I’m gonna pop him there even though I have this massive prison that I was—I was building? I was gonna throw Skeppy in a little two by one box? Look it wasn’t—it—that wasn’t anything, that was just for show… That was just to—that was all theatre. For Tommy. Okay? I was having fun. I was messing about.”

And then, they straight up confirm it all in the finale [clip] with Punz saying how he was never on clingy duo’s side, and Dream going into detail about how they needed to stage a betrayal to protect Punz.

So ultimately, that disc confrontation was as Dream said all for show and if that’s true then he was planning to put himself in prison, and given that the prison didn’t finish construction till after Punz and Dream’s plotting stream we can say that Dream was literally building the prison while planning to put himself inside, so yes the prison was never meant for Tommy but meant for Dream.

He even hints as much in the funny conversation with Techno about being homeless [clip]:

Dream: “My house is the biggest house on the server.” Techno: “I believe you, man. I believe you. Everyone believes you.” Dream: “No, I—I—I prom—promise. I swear though.” Techno: “Everyone believes you, Dream.” Dream: “I promise. I’m actually—I’m not even kidding it’s huge—it’s like using redstone and stuff. It’s awesome.”

Which Techno later even highlights is true in the Prison Podcast [clip]:

Dream: “This is… To be fair, I did say I have a giant house. This is pretty giant.” Techno: “I—I—this—it is filled with redstone. I didn’t think you were telling the truth, but here you are. Here you are…”

But even if you don’t want to believe me, you can believe cc!Dream as he talked about his own character’s reasonings and plans [which dr3 recently provided the transcript for]:

cc!Dream: “But when (c!)Dream—(c!)Dream put himself into the prison. It was, it was thought of as a very—it was thought of as a temporary thing and ended up lasting a lot longer than he had imagined. And also, on top of that, he didn’t expect that Awesamdude would let Quackity in to fucking torture him. So that obviously made things a million times worse.”

So when Dream says to Tommy like a maniac as he chases him [clip]:

Dream: “They had to lock me up in an entire prison built just for me!”

He’s technically telling the truth.

As he says to Sam in Daedalus [clip]:

Dream: “Eh, I’m—I’m—I feel like I’m… primarily responsible for my imprisonment”

Another question about Raph! Since Kraang blood is empyrean, is it mixed in with Raph's blood or is it still normal?

Okay, I've actually done quite a bit of research on empyrean since I found out about it.

I thought it was Kraang blood or something at first too, but I'm actually starting to think that it's a little more complex than that.

Cuz I mean this guy looks like he's been long dead for decades, possibly even centuries. Skin taut and mummified-looking almost, old bones all but exposed, he's down for the count.

I've done some research on how human blood works as a comparison. Without a beating heart to keep blood flow up and running, the blood inside of a human body will start to clot and pool.

In your average person, it takes anywhere between several hours to days for blood to completely clot and become solid, starting with capillaries and progressing to larger vessels. This doesn't happen all at once, but still.

Now obviously, the Kraang species is very alien to us. Who's to say that their blood works completely different than ours?

However, every other living organism we've ever come across shares many incredible similarities to human kind, and I'm betting the same thing would apply to the Kraang.

And if my guess is correct, that would mean that this corpse we get a sneak peak of in the series couldn't be the source of Empyrean after all, (which only starts up a whole new tangent of mine concerning Kraang biology) Since its blood probably wouldn't be a liquid anymore at this point.

We know that Empyrean was what first mutated the Yokai thousands of years ago (I assume at the time of the original Kraang invasion.)

We also know that in past iterations of TMNT, the Kraang have had this icky substance with mutation abilities that they've brought from their home, good old Dimension X; though Empyrean went by other names like Ooze or Mutagen.

My leading theory is that Empyrean is a power source of some kind, the thing that runs all of their tech and machinery, similar in use to a battery or gasoline. To foreign organisms like those found on Earth, under the right conditions, Empyrean leads to a drastic rearranging of DNA; for Kraang, it's completely fine.

So if Empyrean originates from the Crying Titan, and if Empyrean is a fuel, that has to mean that Kraang technology is still on Earth.

Assuming the original invasion was anything like it was in the movie, lingering, ancient remnants of the Kraang would make a lot of sense, at least in my mind.

Which gives me a lot of ideas to put into my au :]

Now, concerning your question: Empyrean is still persistent in Raph's blood and DNA, thanks to Baron Draxum's mutation experiments. It would be persistent in all the turtles (as well as Splinter, technically.)

You could probably even find it in Yokai blood and DNA, though I would think it would be muted after so many years of their species changing and adapting over time.

And with the nature of. . . everything Kraang related really, Raph's had a lot of changes physically, including on a molecular level.

His blood? DNA? It's definitely had some modifications with how long he's been Kraangified.

If treated quickly enough, a Kraangified person can expel the Kraangy bits from their body and be just fine.

But Raphael's been with the Kraang roughly 4 years. Chances are, those parts of him are there to stay for good.

ah... oh wow this is a difficult question!! i actually don't read alot of ribbun fics (if thats what you meant by stories) of course the most notable classic ribbun fic i like is Acetate Ribbun! the first ribbun fic ive read was Distraction, Distraction, Just To Avoid Abstraction (Explicit) and i must have liked it so much because i saved/downloaded it the one ive been keeping my eyes out for is A shattering begins with a single crack (Explicit) seems promising to me! my enjoyment of ribbun is pretty self-indulgent as most ships are! so i dont have a ground-breaking analyzation of what i like about their relationship :c please feel free to suggest ribbun fics to me!!

Do you think Hannibal was in love with Alana and Bedelia the same way he was in love with Will? Or how do you see their relationship with Hannibal compared to Hannibal's intense love relationship with Will?

I think Hannibal cared about Alana and Bedelia when it suited him. He did care and possibly love them, but it wasn't that deep. He wasn't in love with them. They were pawns just like everyone else. They only knew the things about him they let them see and he made sure it was superficial at best. He shared more about himself with Bedelia than with Alana but it still wasn't all that much. It was vague, enough to keep her interested. She was only there because Hannibal intrigued her, like a bug under a magnifying glass, definitely not because she loved him or really even liked or trusted him. If they could ever accept who he truly was, then maybe it'd be different, but they couldn't (and wouldn't).

Will, on the other hand, he was in love with. Will saw deeper into who Hannibal was, down to the very core of him. And he understood it, and by the end he accepted it. From the very beginning, Will dissected him without knowing who the Chesapeake Ripper even was. But he still understood. How could someone already know more about him without even putting a face to a name as Will had done, and so effortlessly?

Hannibal looked Will in the eyes and said "I let you know me, see me. And you didn't want it." He had never let anyone know him so deeply. It was heartbreaking because not only did Will see it, he understood it, and pulled back. To be rejected is one thing, but to lay yourself bare and then be shot down is a pain Hannibal had never felt. A pain one can only feel if they really loved someone. We are hurt most by the people we love and let ourselves be vulnerable with. And then he held him as he gutted him, and kept holding on. That was a raw intimacy not granted to anyone else. Even when Will rejected him, Hannibal waited. and waited. and waited. He was patient. He'd never grant anyone else his freedom or his time like he has for Will, because he truly loved Will.

By the end, Will loved him back, and with that love, Hannibal let Will pull them both off a cliff. No one else would have the pleasure and chance of killing him so easily except for Will. To die by his hands, in his arms, was a reciprocation of love and confession all its own.

do you think that both of you think about the world and your lives the way that you write? As in, are the inner thought styles of mike and will the same as the way you guys think about the world and have thoughts, not in subject matter obviously but in style? Like the highly detailed thinking that observes every tiny thing and notes down every aspect of each choice and action and surroundings? Or did you both adopt this as a way of characterising mike and will as teenagers?

ooh this is such an interesting ask and i have actually thought about this quite often over the last couple years, and we’ve talked about it a couple times as well!! for me, the way i write is often really similar to the way my thoughts work, mostly for larger blocks of narration where the character is just thinking or reasoning with themselves, and especially for more casual/humorous sequences as opposed to ones where i’m trying to be a bit more flowery or evocative with my word choice. it’s really easy for me to get carried away writing these bits because usually whatever is in my brain will get directly word vomited out onto the page, which often means long nonsensical thought loops and very accidentally unserious figures of speech. i do find there are certain characters that are easier for me to do this with: mike for one, obviously, but also buck in the 911 wip i was working on for a while (rip) and patrick zweig in my challengers wip (rip x2) — which im realizing as i type this is basically just a list of characters that scream adhd to me. lol.

other characters like will are not As natural for me in this specific way, but i’ve gotten comfortable enough writing him and his voice for it to happen anyway. and others (vi from my arcane wip, loki from my lokius fic) are muchhh harder to write because they don’t really feel like my inner voice nearly as much, so i have to hold myself back more and really think about whether i am writing from My head or Theirs, if that makes sense. i also get a lot of “yeah i can really hear your voice coming through in this” from my friends when i share excerpts of fics in certain povs with them, so i guess it’s not just in my head! + thea might have thoughts to add but i can confirm that there are also lots of times where she’s written something and i just like read it in her voice because it’s totally something she would say or do, either irl when we are together or just over text. and a lot of the hyper-describing of thoughts and surroundings is honestly equal parts a mixture of my natural thoughts and also just my process for setting a scene, which mostly goes something along the lines of “picture the place, picture the things in the place, describe the things in the place in the clearest but least awkward way possible.” probably this leads to some more describing and noticing and such than i would naturally do in my own head but 🤷🏽‍♀️ honestly it’s pretty close i think

You do really thoughtful posts and I was hoping to ask if you might expand on this ask, discussing James & Lily's compatibility through a lens of astrology? Particularly more about their chemistry, as you understand it? Full transparency, I've always struggled with James and James & Lily even more so, so finding several really literate and carefully reasoned writers, like you, is a godsend. I can't improve how I write them if I never understand them fully and your ideas help so much.

Since you said you’ve struggled with James/Jily, I’m actually going to back up a bit first and start with the text before we get to the astrology stuff, because I think the astrology only buttresses and deepens what’s already there. And this is such a loaded but fun question that I already know this is going to be long, so under the cut we go!

This heritage post sets out all the key quotes about James and Lily from the books. In addition to this, there’s the famous “She hated him!” / “Nah she didn’t.” exchange between Harry and Sirius that is basically the backbone of fandom. And we also know:

they dedicated their lives to the Order after Hogwarts in lieu of working any sort of “traditional” job or even fleeing the country

they defied Voldemort 3 times (per the terms of the prophecy)

per this post by my friend Robyn, I think we can infer they were deeply happy together despite it all

So the text already lays the groundwork of telling us that James and Lily were good-hearted people who exemplified Gryffindor traits, and then the text also gives us enough information to infer that they had been madly in love: 

James already fancied Lily in 5th year, at age 16

Lily dressed him down at age 16 (“She hated him!”), but textual clues from the SWM sequence indicate the attraction was far from unrequited (“Nah she didn’t.”). (This + some author comments from back when effectively give them a light enemies to lovers dynamic, though the absence of any knowledge about 6th year leaves the door wide open for possibilities as to how James matured and they moved closer to getting together.) 

they were Head Boy and Girl at Hogwarts together, meaning they would have had a lot of ~forced proximity~

they started going out in 7th year, at age 17

they got married very soon after school, at age 18

they were actively fighting in a war together (a war that James, as a pureblood, could have sat out while living in wealthy comfort but in which he chose to fight instead)

they got pregnant at 19

they had Harry at 20

they died trying to protect Harry at 21 

The central themes of Harry Potter are love and choice, and these themes are embodied by James and Lily from the very outset. Their death—their love—starts the story. Harry, as the hero, is a character of love, fighting against Voldemort, a character devoid of love and full of darkness. And Harry became a character of love because of his parents: he is a product of their love, and he survived by being protected by their love. (And I know the text puts the emphasis on Lily/“mother’s love” here, but let’s be real, James died for him just as much as Lily did—he died for both of them, rushing Voldemort in a split-second, last-ditch, defenseless effort to buy them time.) 

The fact that Jily came to ultimately fit within a prophecy gives them a fated quality that I think is like catnip for Jily shippers (or at least for me, ha), and it's all the juicier when you consider how they started: James pining helplessly with a mega crush so bad HE was doodling HER initials on his exam paper and being reduced to acting like a total idiot in her presence despite being one of the cleverest students in the school + Lily shouting in public that she'd rather date a Giant Squid than him despite having noticed a telling amount of details about his mannerisms and then being "alight with happiness" on her wedding day to him only ~three years later.

Plus, you take into consideration that they had been dating for roughly a year when they got married, and had been together roughly two years (married ~one) when they got pregnant with Harry… (a conception which would have occurred right around Halloween/Sirius Black's birthday, I might add)... Young readers will be rightfully oblivious to this, but looking at it as an adult, I think it's a fairly obvious implication that they were MAD for each other and had a sexual chemistry that was off the charts. Like probably shagging nonstop since they got together kind of off the charts.

They're a war couple, plain and simple. Their romance is intensified by the circumstances around them, and their romance is also a tragedy, their time cut far too short for a love so powerful that it protected its product from death. But they're also meant to be romanticized. Not because they're perfect (the text shows us how much they weren't) but because they are Harry's beacon. Despite all their flaws and mistakes and imperfections, they ultimately chose love—bringing us full-circle to the central theme of the story.

From this starting point, their astrology makes so much sense. I don't recall if she talked about it, but I think it's pretty obvious JKR used astrology at least on a surface level for her characters. (And this isn't an original idea, there's been lots of articles and chatter about it over the years. Plus I believe she studied classics in her bachelor's degree, so her background with Greek and Roman mythology also explains the heavy amount of those references in the books.) Like just going off basic sun signs, we have Harry and Ginny as Leos, Hermione's a Virgo, Ron's a Pisces, Draco's a Gemini, Sirius is a Scorpio, Voldemort and Snape are Capricorns, etc. Literally all it takes is reading a few one-paragraph summaries of these sun signs and I promise it makes sense 😂

James as an Aries and Lily as an Aquarius fit completely with their known traits and the glimpses of their personalities that we see. According to astrology, Aries are ruled by Mars, making them fiery, passionate, assertive, dominant, impulsive, and impatient. This is James Potter to a T. And Aquarius, the humanitarian of the zodiac, is explained really well by this paragraph from the esteemed publication Allure (😜):

Air energy is all about the mind. Intellectual, curious, and deeply social, the air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) are passionate about interpersonal dynamics. As the last air sign in the zodiac, however, Aquarius takes these concepts to a whole other level. Aquarius is represented by the water bearer (hence the "aqua"), the mystical healer who bestows water, or life, upon the land. Represented by the Star card in tarot, Aquarius can be visualized as a larger-than-life, mythical being with one foot firmly planted on the soil (representing a sense of being grounded) and one positioned in the water. In addition to giving some surface-level insight to Lily's general personality, this aligns with the mythical/savior quality with which Lily's remembered in the text.

Aries and Aquarius are generally considered an astrological pairing that "goes together," meaning they have a high level of compatibility. The traits I shared in the post you referenced are, I think, the cornerstone of this. I won't repeat it all, but I think a huge part of it is their intellectual attraction. They're both wicked smart (we know this from the text), and are at such a high level of intelligence + skill that finding a partner who can match them and stimulate their intellectual curiosity is of utmost importance and really creates the foundation of their relationship.

In this sense, James and Lily are the series' power couple. They are the Han and Leia of Harry Potter. They're drawn together, they have a fated quality, a star-crossed quality, they flirt with banter, and they're both incredibly passionate people, which makes it inevitable, really, that they ultimately become passionate about each other.

Hello! And thank you!!! I don't really have a good answer for that, I didn't learn it specifically anywhere, I just tried it and it seemed to work. Both of my siblings used to make puppets at one time. (completely different ones, but still awesome!) I always thought I'd be terrible at it, so I haven't actually tried until now. Kinda bummed about that, but it's never too late to start something new! And I can tell you I've been doing stop motion for a LONG time, a very, very long time... And since I kinda know what I want the puppet to be able to do while animating, I can add things to it accordingly. Seems to work!
