Day 8: Mountain/Chains
Prompt List
Pt. 6 of The Empire of Samadhi AU
Pt. 1 | Pt. 2 | Pt. 3 | Pt. 4 | Pt. 5 | Pt. 6 (you are here) | Pt. 7 (coming sometime...)
(This is day 8 of the Monkie Destiny Challenge Prompt Month October 2023)
Wordcount: 2k
Summary: Red Son is the son of an old empire, Mei is the daughter of a new one. Red Son, consumed by fire, was put into an induced stasis sleep to stop the world from burning until his family can find a way to safely remove the fire. They find a way but he never wakes up. Hundreds of years later he awakes to discover his power resides within another as she stares at him with wide eyes on fire.
Split.

They reached the mountain at daybreak.
It wasn’t massive but it still counted as a mountain, albeit a small one. There were seals and spells lining the caverns on the inside of it, if nothing much had changed since Red Son had last visited the place. It was a little out of their way and put them a good half a day behind schedule to reach, but the mortals were insistent. Much to Red Son’s frustration.
Why they were taking this detour was simple.
Liú.
That little puppet Mk had tucked into his sash comfortably that morning, with his little puppet arms and face free of the fabric. He’d spent a needlessly long amount of time making sure he was comfortable, not being crushed. No matter how many times Red Son told him he likely couldn’t feel it, Mk wasn’t taking any chances.
“Just in case,” he had said that morning. “He might be conscious. It would be boring to look at the inside of a pocket all day.”
No matter how much Red Son scoffed at it, Mei chimed in that she thought it was a good idea so that was the end of it, and he could do nothing to convince him otherwise.
They were idiotic fools.
They were weird.
They chatted with the puppet all the way too, and on the way up the mountain, in-between complaints of sore feet and burning muscles from their upward decent. Red Son had to listen to their aggravating recap and their ‘Sifu Samadhi, he might look scary but he’s a softy,’ all the way up the mountain.
Red Son was not a softy.
He was going to kill them both the moment he had the fire just to prove that.
“He can’t hear you,” Red Son tried to tell them for the thousandth time.
“Maybe he can,” Mei said, sticking out her tongue like she did every time she replied.
Truly they were idiotic.
He had no doubt if Liú really was conscious as a little puppet, he would have rather been shoved into a pocket than listen to their whining. At least then the sounds would be muffled.
“Are we there yet?” Mei groaned. “We've been walking for ages.”
“Two hours,” Red Son said through gritted teeth, “is not ages.”
“It's dark out,” Mk complained, “I want to sleep.”
Red Son took a moment to breathe. If he pushed either of them off the mountain now he might never get his fire. “This little detour is costing us precious time. The sooner we reach the top the better. Unless you’d rather take a nap and watch the world burn from this vantage point?”
That at least shut them up for a while. Then there was nothing but annoyed noises and huffing and puffing.
Honestly they held up better than expected. Despite their complaining they were keeping up with Red Son’s, what would be considered, brutal pace for mortals.
They reached the top before sunrise.
Luckily the big open surface carved out remained which meant they wouldn’t need to clear anything. The last time Red Son had been here, there had been monuments and structures and even green life everywhere. He didn’t acknowledge the blackened empty state of it.
Red Son drew the circle in the ash and dirt himself, since he didn’t trust either of them to know what they were doing. It didn’t take very long, but it was long enough for Mei to complain again. Red Son ignored her. He scratched the letters into the dirt then snatched some of his fire from the rings and lit the spell. The fire filled the grooves quickly until every bit of lettering was illuminated.
“Now,” he said, dusting his hands off and turning to Mei. “First things first. This is going to cause quite a commotion in the middle of nowhere. Without any life disguising my power, we might as well be sending an invitation to that thing to come find us. So.” He stepped over to one of the edges of the flat space, purposefully not too far away from the circle, but not close enough to mess with the spell. “This is our escape route. If he comes, stand here, and it will take us out of here in a more permanent teleportation than I can currently provide.”
“Cool,” Mei said. “Where does it go?”
“Let me worry about that,” Red Son said, crossing his arms. “Now the spell. Not that I care but keep in mind that if you lose control at any point during the ritual, he will undoubtedly die.”
“What?” said Mk, shielding the puppet with his hand.
“No pressure or anything,” Mei muttered. She frowned at the spell.
“Hurry up, we don’t have all day,” Red Son snapped.
“You can do this, Mei,” Mk said. “I know you can.”
That made her crack a smile. They were both so strange. “Thanks Mk.” She seemed to brighten just a little bit. “Alright, let's do this.” She got into position and planted her feet.
Mk hurried forward and placed the puppet in the middle of the circle, gently brushing ash from the spot so there was a clear spot to place it down. He then scurried out of the ring, cursing as the hem of his hanfu caught fire. He stamped it out, giving a big bright smile when Red Son glared at him.
Mei took a breath, closing her eyes. She placed the palms of her hands together in a meditative movement, then her eyes snapped open and she stared with intense focus at the puppet on the ground. “Ready.”
Red Son nodded. He lifted his hand, breathed and released the puppet from the seal.
It was an awful twisting, crumpling moment, then there the puppet stood at its full size. Its one eye blinked.
“Now!” Red Son yelled.
Fire exploded over them.
Red Son thought just in time to yank Mk behind him to shield him from it. Red Son planted his feet, nearly slipping from the force of it.
“A bit of overkill,” he said through gritted teeth as he held the fire at bay. She likely didn’t hear him mutter it over the roar of the flames. That had been his intention. He wasn’t stupid enough to interrupt her focus on purpose.
The puppet cowered, shielding its face, but its feet remained glued to the ground, trapped by the spell. The flames washed over it. It wailed.
“Ignore it!” Red Son yelled to Mei before she could hesitate or ask. “Continue the ritual!”
The fire burned through layers of the curse.
“It's working!” Mk spoke like he could see it which was absurd.
Chains flickered into view. They connected to the puppets wrists and ankles, long and icy and blue. Deep churning gray ones wrapped around the rest of him as though they were holding him together. Those chains were much thinner and weaker than the blue, but both could be handled just fine. One part possession, one part curse. The seals on the chains lit up with light, exposed by the fire.
The fire flickered green. Red Son grit his teeth and said nothing.
“You almost got him! Keep going!” Mk yelled.
“I… am…” Mei grunted, straining and pushing the fire at the puppet, trying to keep it aimed at him. Some of it lashed out to the side, dangerously close to Mk.
“Focus, Dragon Girl,” Red Son barked.
“Both of you zip it!” Mei snapped back. “Stop yelling at me-”
One of the chains cracked.
“Keep going, you're doing it!” Mk cheered.
“I asked for quiet please!”
The puppets' eyes flickered from empty to wide and pained and human. The puppet-like designs on its skin seemed to start to burn off. Its screaming was muffled by the fire.
“This is really hard!” Mei yelled.
“Of course it is!” Red Son yelled back. “Keep going!”
A chain snapped.
“You’re doing it, Mei! You’re doing it!”
“Yeah!” Mei cheered. Her power surged and pressed firmer against the curse.
Red Son hadn’t sensed anything, perhaps due to the massive surge of power in front of him. But quite unexpectedly he exhaled and his breath was visible, even with the flames in front of him.
He snapped his head up to look at the sky to find frosty clouds looming above them and closing in. The air behind where the fire was not was growing cold.
Red Son hadn’t felt him coming.
They needed to leave. Now.
“Dragon girl! Stop the fire! We need to go-!”
He landed a short distance away at the edge of the space and the mountain shook with the impact.
Red Son stumbled, on his feet, some of the fire escaping past him and over to Mk.
The fire vanished.
“Mk, grab Liú,” Mei barked. If Red Son wasn’t distracted he might have been proud of her authoritative voice, clearly reminiscent of his own.
Mk jumped into action and ran forward, jumping over rocks. He scooped the puppet off the ground, and bolted back to Red Son.
The figure that filled Red Son with such dread started forward.
The fire blasted into existence again, all of it focused on the possessed creature.
“Leave it! We need to go!” Red Son yelled. He and Mk were already standing in the escape route, they just needed Mei.
Chains flickered.
Red Son realized that his uncle was walking into the circle they’d made for the puppet.
Chains, white freezing chains, thin and thick, wrapping around every limb, tight around every movement. There looked to be hundreds of them, some of them thicker than some tree trunks Red Son had seen, and only getting bigger, as they stretched out of sight. They wrapped around his wrists, his arms, his ankles, his legs, his tail, his throat, his torso, his head.
Every single chain link from big to small had a seal on it.
The horror that Red Son felt choked him for a moment.
“Wait!” Mei yelled. “Do you see that? Maybe I can-”
“YOU CAN’T!” Red Son roared. “LEAVE IT, MEI.”
He could see her hesitate. It was a split second of her really truly considering… Then she growled. With a frustrated yell, she hurled as much fire as she could at their pursuer before she abandoned the circle and sprinted towards where Red Son and Mk stood.
“Hurry!” Mk held out his arm to her. “He’s right behind you!”
Mei didn’t glance back, she just launched herself forward, leaping at them.
Red Son slammed his hand onto the ground on top of the spell to activate it seeing her trajectory. He didn’t pray that he’d timed it right, he knew he had.
That was the moment that everything went wrong.
Mei was jerked backward, the Possessed catching the back of her hanfu.
Mk lunged out of the circle and tackled him.
Mei was catapulted forward and bowled into Red Son, knocking him off his feet and partially out of the spell.
The possessed moved forward, Mei lunged for Mk, the spell activated just as she touched him and the mountaintop exploded.
The impact of Red Son hitting the ground face-first nearly knocked him out. It left him dizzy and disoriented for a moment.
He pushed himself up and staggered to his feet.
He looked for Mei first, expecting her to be a short distance away, buried by rubble or fighting his uncle, but very suddenly realized several things:
He wasn’t atop the mountain any longer. He was beside a running river, surrounded by trees. It was damp, not as dry, there was no ash or flame to be found.
He couldn’t feel the warmth of his fire at all, which meant it was no longer in close proximity with him.
His uncle, Mei and Mk were nowhere to be found.
His fire was gone.
Red Son punched a tree, splitting a fist-shaped hole into the wood.
Then he wordlessly screamed at the sky for more than a few reasons but mainly because that had really hurt.
Imbeciles.

Part Five
Can't stop thinking about the attempt of reconciliation and reader ain't having it. Our girl is going to be wilddddd y'all. Also goodnight. See y'all tomorrow (maybe)
You call Meredith when you get home.
You. Are. Fuming. She's not sure she can ever remember a time you using so many swear words at one time.
How fucking dare them? Immature? You're the immature one? You were the one trying your best to salvage four failing relationship meanwhile none of those assholes could be bothered to try and keep one. They had one person to manage: you.
"I wanna go out this weekend." "Wear something tight and borderline risk indecent exposure."
"You know what I always say," Meredith begins. "The best way to get over someone-"
"is to get under someone else." You finish. You weren't exactly keen on the idea of bringing someone to your bed just yet, but a little attention would do you some good. "I don't want to fuck someone just yet." You admitted. "I'm more on the getting drunk and making out."
"I didn't know we resorted back secondary school heavy petting?" She teased.
"University, Dear." You corrected. "I didn't peak until after I graduated."
"No." She argued. "You didn't put your books down long enough to realize that boys actually wanted to fuck you." You were glad she couldn't see you roll your eyes. "Saturday work for you? I have a late night Friday and won't be up for it."
"That works."
"Sorry." She apologized. "I plan on getting you absolutely smashed so I need to be ready to play the nanny. I know how you love to get drunk and run off."
It was true. You had always found it hilarious when you were drunk to just run. Quite literally run away. It got to a point during university where Meredith would handcuff you to her so you didn't stray.
"I won't run." Your sober mind promised.
"Uh huh." Meredith's tone told you that she knew that was a load of shit. "I'll text Tabs. Let her know the plan."
The next day at the shop was pretty uneventful. No more unexpected visitors. You still had them all blocked. Not caring if now they decided to offer up some bullshit apology.
Months. This had been a steady decline for six months. A text or a simply sorry won't fix this. You weren't sure anything could.
But it didn't matter. You were done and they obviously were too.
You had picked up enough take out to feed a family, but you didn't plan on making your lunch before work or cooking when you got home. The rest of the week you planned on just going through the motions until you could go out Saturday and hopefully get everything out.
You weren't paying attention as you walked down the hallway to your flat. Fishing in your purse for keys. You were at almost at your door when you saw him.
Sitting next to your door was a familiar face. A face you felt you haven't seen in forever.
“What are you doing here, Kyle?" Your voice was flat as you continued to blindly try and find your keys with one hand. Fuck. You really need to clean out your purse...
“My key wouldn’t work.” He explained. "So I’m out here.”
"I'm aware why you're not in my apartment since I changed the locks," you said, trying to keep your irritation at bay. "What I am asking is why did you come here?"
"You won't return any of our messages."
"You're all blocked, so technically I didn't really get any messages." "Besides, you don't get to complain to me about not responding to texts, Kyle Garrick." Your fingers finally wraps around them. God bless. "If you're here for your things, it'll have to wait. I have to sort through everyone's shit and I don't know whose is whose."
"We need to talk." He explains as you put the key into the lock, opening the door.
"Nah," you say scrunching your nose in that way he used to adore. "I'm good. But you can swing by tomorrow and pick up your things if you'd like." You say before trying to shut the door on him. You were stupid in thinking you could be faster than him.
Dammit.
"I know things haven't been good and I've definitely could have been better,'' he admits. "But can you at least try and let us apologize? Let us try and work it out."
"No." You answered, trying to close the door. Not caring if you had to resort to kicking his shins to get him out.
"Why not?" He countered.
“Maybe because I've already tried, Kyle?” You gave up on trying to shut him out. You were strong, but he didn't have any issues in besting you. “Because I actually tried with you. With all of you. You didn’t need to come here giving me excuses about your life being hectic because I’ve made the excuses for you.” You didn't miss how he practically flinched. He had always blamed his busy life. Family. Work. You stopped caring about whatever excuse he gave you and realized it was just that. An excuse. “I’ve been telling myself for months that everything you guys didn’t do for me wasn’t because you didn’t care about me. It was because of the stress of your deployments is the reason none of you tell me when you get back from until it’s time to fuck. I tell myself it’s because of the fucked up situation of me being with all of you that makes it awkward to meet your families. Families you all have that I now know I’m not worthy of meeting.” He wanted to correct you. You were. You were worthy. He was an idiot. “It’s not that I need your excuses to make me feel like what you did was justified. No matter what it was, it was apparently to you because you did it.”
He took a step back, processing everything you had said. He had been selfish. You were the reliable constant in his life. Someone he believed he never disappointed. Someone he couldn't disappoint no matter how many times he fucked up.
You took the opportunity to slam the door. Quickly turning the lock before he had a chance to open it back up.
God...
That felt good.
You had spent that evening collecting their thing in case Kyle did show back up tomorrow. You wouldn't make their lives easier by sorting all their shit and organizing it. Everything. One box. Let them figure it out. You almost had a mind to add a shirt that you knew didn't belong to any of them just to have them argue over it. Or least make them think there was someone else...
You were almost tempted if not for the premise that you wanted them to realize this was their fault. Their fuck up. But now that you were officially all broken up, you were free game.

heyy,
Coyou do Kenan Yildiz x reader being teen parents?
Love this! ❤️
SEVEN DAYS OF REQUESTS 3.0
(DAY 5)
Kenan Yildiz x Reader - Only For One Day
Tumblr media
Enjoy!
Your son turned five today. As a single mother, you always feard inadequacy. You feard not being enough or doing enough to keep your only child happy. And today was one of those days.
Despite being surrounded by friends and family, with a cake to feed a whole village, your son, Romeo, couldn't be more miserable on his birthday.
"Time to make a wish." Your mom said, having lit the last birthday candle. The cake was set on the table before your son, who regarded it with furrowed brows.
"Go on baby, blow out the candles and make a wish." You encouraged.
His frown deepend, followed by a shake of his head. "I want daddy to help me blow them out."
Your heart dropped.
"Great, I guess that means no cake for us."
"Dad, please." You sighed and knelt down before your son's chair. "Baby, we've talked about this, haven't we?" Daddy couldn't make it today because of his very important job. But he sent you some really nice gifts, didn't he?"
"I don't want gifts, I want daddy!"
It was heartbreaking to see Romeo storm up to his room, abandoning his own birthday celebrations. You were quickly consoled by your family, all of them telling you that you weren't the one to blame. However, it didn't feel fair to blame it all on Kenan. No matter how hard you tried, the two of you just couldn't make the relationship work. The endless bickering brought out the worst in both of you, eventually leaving your son to grow up in a split home, confused as to why his parents never celebrated his birthday together.
You went to bed late that night, retreating to your room after checking on Romeo, who lay fast asleep in his bed. There, seated on the edge of your bed, you made the tough decision to put your pride aside and call your ex-boyfriend.
"Y/N?"
The phone rang for less than a beat before Kenan's sharp voice sparked through the phone. "Is everything alright? How is Romeo?" He asked, with slight distress considering the late hour of which you decided to call him.
"Romeo is fine." You said, to which Kenan sighed in relief.
"Oh, okay. Good. How was the birthday party? Did he like the things I sent him?"
"Yeah, about that...." You sat with the phone pressed to your ear, imagining Kenan in whatever place in the world he may be. You once made it clear to him that you were to have sole custody of your son. Leaving Kenan to live the life he always dreamt of living, the life of a professional football player. However, as the father of your son, he was free to see Romeo whenever you saw fit. Hopefully, tomorrow was one of those days.
"What? Did something happen at the party?" He asked.
"Yes, Romeo refused to blow out the candles on his birthday cake unless you were there to help him."
"I see."
"Yeah, he was really upset." You said, twisting the corners of your bed sheets.
"You know...." Kenan said, reviving the hopeful beating of your heart. "I'm not too far away. Juventus is playing Turin this weekend, so I'm actually in town tomorrow if you want me to...."
"I want you to." You nodded eagerly, although Kenan wouldn't possible know.
"Great. I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Tomorrow." You shirrped, fast to hang up the phone before regretting ever making the call in the first place. Nevertheless, it was done. Your son was getting the birthday he deserved.
The next day you were a nervous wreck, forcing yourself to put on a brave face as you greeted Kenan at the door.
"Hey, Kenan," you said, trying to sound casual. "Thanks for coming."
"Of course. Wouldn't miss it for the world." Kenan handed you a gift for Romeo. Another one, you thought.
"Thanks again for inviting me," he said, his voice low and smooth.
Your heart skipped a beat as you looked into his eyes. You could see the old spark there, the one that had once made you fall in love with him. However, you pushed those feelings aside, focusing on your son.
Romeo was running around the living room with his cousins, laughing and having the time of his life. Your family had thankfully agreed to a redo of yesterday's celebrations and did not judge your decision to invite Kenan this time around.
As the celebrations went on, you and Kenan found yourselves drawn to each other, not helping to exchange a few pleasantries, and before long, you were laughing and joking again, just like old times. But as the night wore on, you began to feel a pang of sadness. You knew that this was just a temporary reprieve, that the old feelings you had for Kenan would eventually fade, and the two of you would be back to where you were now. Separated. Still, you couldn't help but enjoy the moment to savor the happiness that Kenan brought to your son. He was undoubtedly a great dad.
As the celebrations came to an end, you hugged Romeo tightly, tears pricking at the corners of your eyes. "Thank you for coming, Kenan," you said, voice choked with emotion.
"No, thank you," he replied, his voice just as soft. "For giving me the best gift I could ever ask for." He regarded the two you with loving eyes. You smiled, knowing that this was exactly what Romeo needed - to see his parents getting along, if only for one day.

For real, the animator had ri have been a Hoshina loyalists. Cause no way he looks that bad. For a Narumi prompt it could be funny that he gets with someone that doesn't know him. Someone who doesn't believe he is the 1st division captain because they only see him as the "wet cat" version of himself. And we have Narumi losing his mind over the fact you don't believe him
(not sure where tumblr took my post again because i cant find it lol) the budget went to hoshina and his tight shirt and there was nothing left to animate narumi properly. anyway, this is such a cute and interesting prompt because because yes, he is losing his mind over you not believing he is the cool first division captain 😆
Tumblr media
pairing: gen narumi x f!reader trigger warnings: narumi gen is a trigger warning himself, just super short because im not used to writing anything narumi-related yet. hopefully you don't get mad at me anon for not going exactly per the ask lol my brain is a mush right now, i'll try harder on my next fics
the rich man is here, shouted the kids from the hallway. you can hear their hurrying footsteps - excited little taps that in turn triggered your heartbeat to race as well. you shut your eyes, calming yourself down.
narumi gen is not exactly a rich man; the children in the orphanage just calls him that fondly. apparently he has been dropping by for years, way back when you weren't working as a teacher yet. the older orphans refer to him as nii-san.
narumi would bring toys snd snacks for the kids, and would spend time with them until the early evening before he has to say goodbye. last time, he played video games with everyone; he brought crayons and sketch boobs for his visit today, and within an hour, it was eerily quiet - the little girls and boys holding their pencils, drawing all sorts of things.
the youngest in your herd, a six-year old boy with a missing front tooth ran to you when he saw you by the door, showing you his drawing - a stick-man figure with a knife in its hand, and an animal beside it which you were not sure whether it's an oversized dog or a giraffe.
"it's a kaiju, and narumi nii-san is fighting it", the boy explained, and you patted him in the head. "he's a captain of his team, i'm gonna be like him when i grow up!"
you looked at narumi who is sitting on the floor, but he was already looking at you. you shifted your gaze. "this is so pretty, we should display it in the art wall", you suggested to the boy who grinned at you, clapping.
"you know that it's not a good thing to do, lying to kids, right?" the children had bid narumi goodbye just past 7pm, and although some of them cried, narumi was quick to promise he would be back next weekend. you were surprised, he used to only be here once a month.
"huh?" he responded to you with confusion. you walked him out the orphanage to the parking lot outside. "i don't know what you're talking about."
"look, i know you are trying to be nice. and i thank you for that. what you've done for these kids is more than anyone else have done for them. but telling them you're some guy who kills kaiju is wrong. and telling them they can be like you?" you scoffed.
narumi's mouth was wide open before he realized you have finished your speech. "but i am a guy who kills kaiju", he replied, his hand on his chest as if he is swearing on his life. "really, i'm not lying. i'm the captain of my team -"
"right, and you fight kaiju on the daily," you finished his sentence for him.
"yes, i am a real badass, i promise!" he exclaimed when he sensed you do not believe him in the slightest. it looks comical how he looks close to panicking over the fact that you are not buying whatever he's selling. he frowned at you, and you stared at him, the eye contact lasting for a few seconds.
maybe this guy is a con-artist and he makes his living manipulating people, you said to yourself. this would make a lot of sense considering you think he has the good looks to lure people in. narumi had flirted at you once or twice before - or you wish he was flirting and you were not just reading too much on his actions.
"you know if you meet my friends, they would tell you the truth," he suggested, his voice cheerful.
"why would i meet your friends?" you asked, equally confused.
"so they can tell you that i am the coolest captain of the anti-kaiju defense force. they would also tell you i am a good man and a dependable friend," narumi said, reciting maybe the contents of his curriculum vitae to you. is he in a job interview? you wanted to ask but didn't.
you sighed in defeat. "are your friends as exasperating as you are?" you asked in jest.
"come on, let me impress you", he told you with sincerity that is almost startling. you were not expecting him to sound so genuine, so adamant at proving himself to you.
the kids will have their dinner in a few minutes and you will be needed to help out. you gave narumi one last glance before strolling back to the orphanage. "i'm off on fridays", you said.
narumi's smile could have lighted the entire street.

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 03/April/2024
Do you ever have a week where there’s so much going on, but it feels really good to tick so many tasks off your list?
Well, I had one of those weeks, hehe! :D
First up was finishing up all the edits to the demo section, which went super smoothly, and it was great fun reading the comments from them. I always appreciate how they take the extra time to write what they’re enjoying, or their fun reactions to things that happen as they edit!
Then it was onto social media days! The sporadic internet has still been a major obstacle, but I actually managed to get on long enough to get some asks done! That was great fun getting to do those and indulge in getting to talk about Wayhaven even more with you guys, hehe!
With the Patreon content, I worked on the sketch for Adam/Ava’s masquerade mask for the upcoming ball in Book Four, which was both awesome because I loved the ideas and inspiration I had for it, but also was nice to get some drawing in! That’ll be going up on Patreon later this month!
And then I even managed to get a massive amount done on Chapter Two! Way more than I expected yet again, so this chapter is seriously moving on at a pace! I was actually starting to think I’d get it finished next week…but then I decide to move a big chunk from the start of Chapter Three to the end of Chapter Two, lol.
The flow will be much better. Where it ended before would have been a great cliffhanger at the end of Chapter Two but it just…it didn’t feel like where it should have ended. So, moving that section now makes it feel more like the chapter I wanted.
This new ending section does contain more variation to account for love interests, etc, so will take a bit longer, but at least that means it will also make the second demo section that much more chunkier! :D
But the first demo section is now with my final set of readers, so hopefully not long until I get to share that with you all!
I hope you all have the most amazing weekend! We'll be offline as usual, so I'll update you all again next week! <3

Logan: And I couldn't thank my mechanic enough. And also my parents, uh, they really helped me to be able to win the world championship and it’s just an amazing feeling.  Interviewer: I mean, did you, did you, what did you do when you found out you won? Did you call your friends at home? Did you phone your grandpa? What did you get up to?  Logan: Uh, no, I just gave my mom and dad a really big hug. Interviewer: Is it still sinking in now?  Logan: Yeah, it's, it's a really emotional thing. [full transcript continues below cut]
Interviewer: I can imagine. I can imagine. You said that your mechanic Scott and also your driver Coach Gary really helped you along the way. How did, how did they do that?  Logan: Um, well, my driver coach Gary, he helped me a lot. Of course, he manages everything and he always keeps me calm before the races and just makes sure I'm always at my best. And Scott, of course, he always just makes sure the cart is perfect, make sure all the tire pressures are good and yeah, that's about it.  Interviewer: What's the difference before you get into the race? You said he keeps you calm and then when you put your helmet and you're actually sitting in the car. How do you feel? What's the difference?  Logan: Well, until the engines start, it's a bit, it was, it was a bit nerve wracking. But once the engines start, you forget about everything and you're ready.  Interviewer: And do you, do you just believe that you can beat all of your fellow races because sometimes some of those races there's like 90 odd other kids aren't there? Logan: Yeah, that weekend I was feeling really confident because I had been quick the whole week and I had won the pre-final. So I, yes, I did believe I could win.  Interviewer: Tell me about when you were a little bit younger than you are now. You're only 14 now. But why racing, why, why is this so important to you?  Logan: Um, well, my dad bought me a, a racing kart when I was five years old and we started from there. We thought it would just be like a little hobby and, uh, it ended up becoming like a professional thing we did. So. Interviewer: So, so was there a moment when you, when you or your dad just thought ‘Wow, I'm quick. I can do this’?  Logan: Um, well, not really. We just kept progressing and then, um, when we, when we decided to come to Europe to race, um, we moved to Switzerland and from then on we were just, uh, going to school, I started going to school in Switzerland. And, yeah, and then we just kept going and then ended up like this.  Interviewer: Do you have any other hobbies? Can you fit anything else in?  Logan: Um, well, other than school it's really hard. But when I get my breaks and I go back to Florida for, um, I like to go fishing a lot and, yeah, that's what I do. Mostly.  Interviewer: Nice, nice and relaxing. Schumacher, Vettel and Senna are just some of your idols, aren't they? What is it about them that you love?  Logan: Uh, just like the legacy that they've built and how, how good they were.  Interviewer: So, is that what you want to achieve?  Logan: Yeah, definitely.  Interviewer: Where do you want to go from here?  Logan: Um, well, next year I'll be racing in KF and then after that I'll try and make my way to Formula One.  Interviewer: And do you think if you achieved getting to Formula One, do you think you could match maybe Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel's four titles or even Michael's?  Logan: Well, we're far away away from that. But, um, hopefully, yeah, we'll see.  Interviewer: You must think about it though. Teenagers always think about stuff like this, don't they?  Logan: Yeah, of course. But it's a long way away. So I, I'm just focused on next year.  Interviewer: Well, we wish you lots of luck for next year and well done. Logan: Thank you very much.

CHAPTER 01: WIP
AIYGIWGWY || GOJO X READER
How would you—a part time guitarist and streamer, react when an upcoming streamer known as gojo admitted to liking your music and streams?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As he sat down on his chair with it dipping with his added weight, he reached to his PC to start it up. He was about 20 minutes early to stream so he had to get his streaming apps ready. He wanted to keep this stream chill, he was probably some background music playing to make his stream calming (as calming as possible with his screams from playing fortnite.) As he made the sudden decision to play music on his stream, he opened Spotify as soon as his computer turned on.
He opened one of his designated playlists for streaming, some relaxing music ranging from different artists. He made sure this playlist wasn't going to get him flagged on his Twitch, something he didn't want to happen again.
He finally had his necessities opened, his discord and Spotify opened on his first monitor, his Twitch ready to stream on his third monitor, and finally his main monitor with his game loading up. When he looked at the time, he had around 6 minutes to spare before starting up his stream. With his extra time, he decided to go out of his room to his shared dorm with suguru to grab some snacks.
As he made his way to the shared kitchen, he just decided to grab a Gatorade and some random candies he had stored for when he was craving them. As he was going to retreat back to his room, he heard his fellow roommate's door open.
"Suguru, you should join my stream please." He said, dragging out the please for dramatic effect.
"Hell nah, ima go to sleep anyway." The black-haired man says with a blank stare, passing Satoru as he makes a b line towards the restroom.
"What the flip man." Sighing as he made it back to his room to start up his stream.
—————————
"BROO, no fucking way he got me. He literally only got me for 50 shield." He said, falling back in his chair as his 2nd place ranking got displayed on his screen. His hands now going through his face, raking through his white hair. The soft melodies of 'Cologne' by Beabadoobee fill the stream when he is quiet. The song finished up when one of your songs replaced the quietness, it was a cover you made of 'Paul' by Big Theif.
This is when his chat started flooding with new messages, ranging from questions asking him if he liked your music to how long he's been listening to you. As his arms finally fell from his hair, he looked at his chat when he saw the flood of new texts.
"I didn't know you listened to y/n's music... of course, I listen to their music, she's like one of my favorite artists." He said after reading some questions in his chat. Snickering at his chats surprised reaction, "I'm surprised some of you guys didn't know this, I follow them on twitter and on insta and I know some of you guys stalk my following and shit" He said as he was going back to the home screen of his game, deciding that it was enough of fortnite for him after playing around 10 rounds.
“Have you seen shes working on a new song? She posted about it on her twitter” he mumbled, reading one of the texts that caught his eye. “Yeah I saw her post, hopefully she posts a clip of her song. I know it’s gonna be good though.” He grins, exited that one of his favorite artist might release a song soon.
"Anyways, ima stopping the stream here, I'm done with fortnite for today. I might stream again in the weekend though, I'll tweet about it if I do." Waving at his face cam as he ended the stream, making sure to double-check it was off. He closed off any extra tabs he had open before shutting down his PC. Once he was finally done with his computer, he stood up and went to scroll on his phone on his bed, finally relieving the ache in his back due to his bad posture.

help i'm alive
So! Long time, no see. 2023 was a whole goddamn lot lol
I don't have a demo update to share yet, but that's because I had to scrap nearly everything I managed to write during a very, very, very bad stint of writer's block last year. I hadn't even realized it had been a block like that until I went over my work so far last month and realized it was bad -- like, trust me; a slog to read that didn't even sound like me. It's been extremely frustrating but I've finally broken free of that and it's been easy and actually fun to write again for the first time in actual years. I just hate giving updates that have no actual news in them. And I really had nothing to share other than: I deleted thousands of words and feel so much better now 😅
Anyway, little about my demo plans have changed: I'm still putting out the Chapter 3 demos in Choicescript/on Dashingdon and then will be going dark to move things over to Twine. Where I am in the process right now is... feeling like 35% done with the overhauled version of this chapter and 50% done for the next demo update.
As far as asks, I'm... not really sure what to do?? I believe I've read them all (I love you guys), but so much time has passed since getting most of them that I'm not sure if it's, like... still pertinent??? To go back and answer them?? I suppose some of them like character asks could be, but all the nice messages of support -- that feels weird since I've practically ghosted this blog since August! Idk. Y'all tell me what to do with 'em and I'll do it. Maybe I should make a poll.
Uh... that's really all there is to say regarding the game! I've added some personal stuff after the cut, but if you're done here: Thanks for reading and sticking around. It means the world, for real.
So what has occupied my time all this time? Doctor, therapy, money, and friends. And improv! But especially the first two. There was a lot of non-writing related stuff fucking up my ability to focus and write, so hopefully with my mind and body both feeling a lot better, I can get back to being present and active with the game. I didn't realize how physically unwell I was until last year and it's been like... life-long issues I've been treating. It turns out it's not normal to feel exhausted enough to sleep at any given time, at all times, for your whole life! wow!!
I also uninstalled Tumblr from my phone back in February, so you could say I'm sort of generally focused on offline life. (And what an interesting coincidence that my writer's block dissipated shortly after that...) I also just moved!! The last two weekends have been so expensive and stressful -_- But I can't even compare the old place to the new. We're basically paying the same price for idek how much more space. The cats are so happy; which means the house humans get to be happy.
My schedule is finally freed up from constant medical shit (there was a 3-month stretch this winter with multiple doctor appointments literally every fucking week 🙃🙃🙃). My mental health is doing a lot better -- literally incomparably better compared to where I was this time last year. There's live comedy now (which I dabble in, to be clear lol), but I've finally found myself able to like... balance it all. The physical and creative energy that goes into it all, anyway. The lovely thing about improv is that you kinda just show up and do your thing -- it doesn't cut into my writing time so much as it costs energy. Unless I end up in this comedy debate show thing next month, which I am very excited to give up writing time for
So like... Life is life-ing and I'm just vibing. Or something? I'll be around.
Thank you all again so much for your interest, support, patience, and readership <3

COFFEE: 300 takeout coffees later
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Cafe owner!reader x idol!Sunghoon
a/n: I just recently recovered from covid and could gather enough strength to write this chapter, I'm in the middle of exams (since here in Mexico it's already exam season, at least in my college) Hopefully I'll start to upload the next of the chapters weekly.
Hope that you enjoy !
WC: 2.1 k
You found yourself cleaning the café, it was close to midnight but after a tiring weekend there were a lot of things left to do and the rest of the employees had to leave early for different circumstances, leaving you alone.
After mopping the floors and washing the dishes ,you debated yourself between finishing the dough for the cookies or preparing the tiramisú for the next morning, your eyes fluttering wishing to be shut, telling you to go to sleep yet there you were in the middle of the café staring at the mirrors that adorned the place, your eyes looking tired and in the midst of your tiredness you heard the bell ring, you forgot to lock the door…again.
“We’re closed we will open tomorrow at 10 am…”, your voice had a shade of irritation in it
“I know, I just… I forgot something”, the familiar voice answered, it was Sunghoon again, however, you had cleaned the place already and hadn’t seen anything, either way you nodded and allowed him to roam all over the place.
Time was ticking so you decided to finish the cookie dough and finish the tiramisú that would be served the next morning, and after you left everything inside the fridge, Sunghoon was standing in the door frame.
“I already found it”, he said shyly, you nodded in response waiting for him to leave, “Is that tiramisú?”, He asked, seeing the small portions served the leftovers that you often saved for you and the other employees that decided to stay after the closing hours, however that weekend it was only you, and the boy in the doorframe with the puppy eyes and moles adorning his face.
“Yes, do you want some?” you asked, seeing the shyness in his eyes but the small smile in his lips you continued, “I usually save two portions to eat after we’re done cleaning after closing, but today the rest of the employees had to leave early, so… you can have the portion if you want to… on the house of course” you said, your voice was now filled with a hint of sadness and tiredness but Sunghoon could trace a small hint of sincerity in your words, so he accepted the tiramisú portion.
“If you want to leave since it’s already late I can put it inside a “to-go” container”
“I actually want to stay, if you’re okay with that”
After the long day you debated yourself on what to answer, “I actually need to close, so if you want we can eat it in my house, it’s around the corner… like literally around the corner…”
“You live in those departments?” he asked, signaling the ones that looked across the window of the cafeteria, you nodded once again, arranging the portions of tiramisú inside a to-go box.
“I mean I barely know you… you don’t even know my name… I shouldn’t have said that” you tried saying, recognizing how stupid you had sounded just a few seconds ago.
You knew his name, but you decided to ignore that fact, not wanting to creep him out at the moment or in any upcoming moment, “I’m Sunghoon” he said finally.
“I’m y/n”, you answered and he smiled.
“Well then I think I can say yes to the offer”, he answered, unsure of why he had agreed as easily, maybe there was something in you that surprised him, maybe that’s why he had came back to the cafe in the middle of the night, inventing a stupid excuse of a lie to see you again, hoping that you hadn’t seen through the facade.
You smiled once again, and after taking the container and your bag, you closed the cafeteria and guided him to your department. The cozy interior welcomed the both of you and although you wished for it to be tidier than it was, you couldn’t blame yourself… The weekend had ruined your sleep schedule completely, not allowing you to clean or to sleep properly as a matter of fact, yet now you were sitting in front of Sunghoon who ate the tiramisú as if it was the best thing left on earth.
“It’s really good…” he said, you giggled for some seconds, “I think I need to eat this everyday”
“Well, at least now you know where to find it”
The time passed and you hadn’t even noticed the second you fell asleep on your own chair and table, in your own department, but your already-too-tired eyes decided not to open anymore, what a surprise when you woke up, thanks to you alarm, in your bed, tucked and covered with your blanket and hugging a pillow, and just when you were about to walk to the bathroom, a smell hit your nostrils, fresh coffee.
You decide to step into the kitchen, seeing Sunghoon preparing an espresso in your own machine.
“Good Morning”, he said, as if staying there the whole night was normal and mundane, as if you were already close friends who stayed in each other's departments because of the already built trust, but you weren’t, you had barely known him and neither did he know you.
“You stayed?”, you asked, confusion lingering on your face, your brows joined together as if skimming for an answer that was so oblivious you hadn’t noticed it.
He nodded, “You fell asleep and I decided to take you to your bed, and then I fell asleep on your couch, hope that you don’t mind”, you turned to see the couch covered in a thin throw blanket, his skin filled with goosebumps every second that passed, of course he was cold, “Then I decided to prepare you coffee as a “thank-you” for me staying over”
You found him and his actions cute, but you could notice how cold he was and that was stressing you a little, you decided to grab him a wearable blanket, one that resembled a hoodie, and handed it to him, telling him you would finish preparing the coffee and some breakfast, before the two of you could depart, you to your cafeteria and him, to wherever ídols like him go.
“Don't you have other places to be? I don't mind you leaving at all”, you said, hoping that your voice sounded concerned and not rude.
“No, we ended the comeback promotions yesterday and we have this week as a kind of vacation”, he answered, and while your reminisced your busy weekend you do remember seeing one of those promotions on the TV screen, and now that very man was in front of you,
You nodded your head slightly, “What would you like for breakfast? I can make you eggs benedict or if you want something sweeter… pancakes or waffles…”
“Anything goes well”, he said and smiled once again, his eyes turning upwards as if resembling a smile and his mouth peaked his fangs.
Since you liked having a salty breakfast you prepared the eggs benedict, however you decided to prepare him some pieces of pancakes so he could have them with his coffee.
“So… Do you enjoy working at the café?”, Sunghoon asked, his voice lacing over the kitchen sounds of the eggs breaking.
“Yes, It can be tiring but I really enjoy it, that was my dream after all…”, you answered while opening the fridge and taking a pack of salmon and milk out.
“To work at a café?”, he asked while you whisked the sauce for the eggs
“To own a café”, you said and he chuckled, changing the atmosphere of the place as you flipped the pancakes and took out two plates to serve the breakfast.
“Do you want the coffee prepared as the one from the last time?”, you asked, preparing your own cup of coffee while waiting for his answer.
He nodded, so you took out the vanilla syrup and prepared him an iced latte before sitting in front of him.
“Do you enjoy being a singer?”, you asked in order to break the ice.
“I do, it can be tiring but I feel like my friends also help me overcome all of this, and then performing in front of the fans it’s also amazing…”
“And did you always want to become an idol?”
“No, I actually wanted to be a figure skater, but then I just fell in love with the music and dancing… all of it, and now… here I am”
“I used to dance when I was a kid, but I broke my ankle and haven’t tried since… then after all those College years of drinking coffee I kind of loved all the process behind it and here I am now ” you said while taking a sip of your iced americano.
“College years? what did you study?”
“Linguistics and phonetics… but I no longer work in that area, not since the café”, you said once again, taking a bite of the eggs, “You should eat otherwise it will get cold”
He chuckled at your comment and started to eat the food in front of him until there were just hues of the sauce and small residues on the plates that would be thrown in the dishwasher alongside the cups in a few moments.
“It was nice being here”, he said after some seconds, “Hopefully we can talk again, I enjoyed your company”
“I can say the same about you”, you say before guiding him through the door.
“Hope to see you later y/n”
You smiled before closing the door once he left into the empty corridor, and you went back to prepare for the day ahead.
₊˚ ✧ ‿︵‿ ☕︎‿︵‿ ✧ ₊˚
The time flew by, and before you could notice it was already noon, the day had gone by pacific, with only a few people stopping by to grab a coffee and have a small chatter, and with some high-schoolers grabbing a coffee milk and bun before their day went by, since your store was relatively unknown you barely had delivery orders, and they were even less unusual during mondays, your coworker could see the surprise in your face when a notification rang through the computer.
  4 latte
/ 1 add on vanilla syrup
  2 Americano
  1 lavender taro
  1 tiramisú
  2 coffee buns
  1 almond matcha croissant
  1 choco-mint muffin
Total: ₩ 40,500
        Tip: ₩. 40,500
“Hey… come and look at this…” you told the worker next to you, “Since when do we receive such large tips?”
“Are you sure the system isn’t glitching?” she asked you, refreshing the page on the computer, but the same balance appeared over and over again, “Maybe… we should send a message to the buyer… just to make sure”
I nod my hair, not believing the screen in front of my eyes, I tap the message option and send a quick message.
“Hi, thanks for your purchase, just to make sure… on our system it appears that you left a 40,500 tip on the purchase you made… is that correct?”
“Yes” was the only answer that appeared under the message you sent, and without thinking about it twice, you started to prepare the beverages and the pastries, waiting for the rider to arrive and pick the food to deliver.
The day continued as boring as a monday could be… and then the day ended before you could even notice you were home, cleaning and organizing the mess of a department you called home.
And then Tuesday arrived, and not even an hour had passed since you opened the café. You had a delivery order, this time two elements but a huge tip, the same as the day before.
1 Latte
/ 1 add on vanilla syrup
1 Tiramisú
Total: ₩ 9400
       Tip: ₩ 40,500
On Tuesdays you worked alone, since it was the slowest day of the week for the café, and the same thing as the day before happened, you prepared the order and it got delivered, not a busy day…you went home at nine sharp and had eight hours of sleep a luxury you hadn’t had in a long time.
Weeks went by and there was not a single day that went by were you didn’t receive a delivery order that contained a vanilla latte, sometimes iced others hot, paired with a tiramisú and a tip of  ₩ 40,500.
You were oblivious as to who could be ordering the same thing over and over, for almost a month, until you went home during that chilly october evening, missing your favorite wearable blanket, an accessory you wore on days like this, but after searching for every part of your department you couldn’t find it… because you didn’t have it anymore, it hit you like the rain falling to the pavement, like the sound of lightning.
Sunghoon.

The storyboard is complete! Not only that, but all voices have been recorded and cleaned! On top of that, the animatic is also done!!! It's been shipped off to DDX.exe and SinclaireDeLune, and they're already hard at work on music and backgrounds!
https://ddxexe.bandcamp.com/
https://www.instagram.com/sinclairedelune
Here, we see Sophodra and another nymph interacting with Empusa, an older mantis.
I'll be spending the weekend cleaning and taking care of other little things. After that, I'll be visiting with family for a week.
The week after, work resumes with lots and lots of character modeling. Together with rough background setup, that'll take about 3 weeks. Then, it'll be time to get going on staging! Hopefully, only two weeks for that. After that, more background work, which should only be another week. Maybe another month for animation, and a week after that for Gregorsa's stuff and sound effects. At some point in there, there will be a two-week break for visiting other family. Then, we're done!! A January release is probably most realistic. Well, until next time!

lewis hamilton is interviewed during the press conference on media day, britain - july 4, 2024 (transcript under the cut)
Interviewer: "Thank you. Lewis, can I come to you now? You've had many close battles with Max Verstappen. What did you make of what happened between Lando and him last weekend in Austria?" Lewis: "Um… Nothing, really. I didn't think anything of it. [pauses, waiting expectantly] I was more concerned about my race and enjoying the team's win." Interviewer: "Well, you've told us in the past that you treat Max differently on track, so what advice could you give to Lando about going wheel-to-wheel with Max?" Lewis: "Again, I don't think I need to. [laughs] They've raced each other for many years, so… Yeah." [laughs] Interviewer: "You're not gonna be drawn on this, are you?" Lewis: "It has nothing to do with me." Interviewer: "Alright. Well, look, let's bring it onto this wekend, then, Lewis. You're going for a record ninth win here at Silverstone. Have you got the car to do that?" Lewis: "I think on pure performance, I don't think we are currently in the same place, naturally, as you've seen in the last couple of races; on these high-speed circuits, particularly. McLaren I think probably might be the quickest, or at least Max, maybe, and I think we're not that far behind, and I think we've definitely seen some really huge strides forward and it's really great to see that we are slowly eeking closer to the frontrunners." Interviewer: "Alright."
[time jump] NOT SHOWN: Journalist: "Simon Lazenby, Sky Sports. I suppose, opening that question to the floor… Lewis, you kind of touched on it there, but it's the same question to all of you: Do you have to race differently when you're wheel-to-wheel with Max Verstappen?" Lewis: "Yeah, not a lot to add. I mean, I've spoken about it before." [time jump] Journalist: "A question for Lewis: Lewis, you have so many great [unintelligible] in Silverstone, so many great victories. Is there one moment, one day, one race, the most special one for you in your Silverstone history?" Interviewer: "Lewis, I'll just quickly repeat the question. You've had so many great memories at Silverstone. Is there one that stands out?" Lewis: "Yeah, 2008 I think will always be probably the most special; my first grand prix win here, and in the rain, and that's my first, like, real… I would say engagement, or the beginning of the journey with the fans here." [time jump]
Journalist: "[unintelligible] I have a question for Lewis: Are you really interested in buying Gresini team, or another team, in MotoGP?" Interviewer: "Thank you. I'll just quickly repeat the question, if I could: Lewis, are you interested in buying the Gresini motorbike team?" Lewis: "Well, I've always loved MotoGP. I'm interested in the potential growth of the sport, but I haven't looked that far into it just yet. But anything's possible. I'm definitely interested in, as I've said before, about equity, and already with the Broncos was already a first step in team ownership. And so yeah, I think over the next five to ten years there'll be hopefully more. We'll see where." [time jump] Journalist: "[unintelligible] A question to Lewis. You said before that one of your best moments was winning here in 2008. What was the big difference with the winning in 2021? It was a win, as well. Your different feelings." Interviewer: "So, Lewis, that first win in 2008. You've won a lot here. What is the difference in emotions, and including 2021?" Lewis: "2021 was still, I think, a great feeling. I think I'd been on such a long journey with the British fans, and we have such great… really, the best fans here. I dunno. I think it was just because it was a wet race, and it was the trickiest conditions that a racing driver will experience, and just the level that I was able to operate that day. And I think it was like 68 seconds I won the race by, so it was, like, far outdid any other race that I think I probably have ever done, particularly in the rain."

OOOOH if youre still taking prompts, can i request "Making mundane tasks like grocery shopping and cleaning fun just by being around each other" ? Cant send an ask from a sideblog, but I'm @mammalsofaction
𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐒𝐊 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌: @mammalsofaction, here you go!
「Heinz, we have to clean the house.」
What they said about moving in with your partner was true—one truly didn't know what they were getting into, no matter how often they saw their partner or how much they pretended to play house. Perry, when he'd moved in with Heinz, had never thought that Heinz would be a neat freak. He'd just never thought he'd live in a pigsty, either.
He didn't necessarily blame Heinz. The man was an underpaid, underappreciated high school teacher who built things for a living. Odds and ends were bound to be strewn all over the place. Perry had gamely began to clean up after him once he realized that things just weren't going to get done if he didn't.
But that didn't mean that he had it all under control. When the dishes piled up, and the floor needed vacuuming, and the inator parts were piling up, and... everything, Perry needed a little bit of help.
"Why?" Heinz groused, lifting his head from where it had been laying on his desk. "Everything is fine. Look-look, even the dishes aren't piled up yet."
「The dishes are making a small mountain,」 Perry deadpanned.
"But it's not a big mountain, so—"
「Heinz.」
"I have tests to grade!" Heinz exclaimed, holding up the papers. "And-and I have... uh, a non-inator to build, yeah. I haven't made one for next week's class—"
「You're so bad at excuses.」
"They're legitimate concerns, I'm—!" Heinz threw his arms in the air, sending the papers flying everywhere. "Can't we clean the house this weekend?"
「It is the weekend.」
"...Oh," he muttered, put out. "Well, next weekend, then?"
「No, now.」 Perry hoisted Heinz bodily to his feet and began to drag him to the sink.
"You know, we have a dishwasher for a reason," Heinz suggested.
「You're right. We would, if a certain someone would fix it.」
"Hey, I don't like your tone. Plus, I've been busy, okay? It takes a lot of work to be the best science teacher in the school. I'll fix it later. Better yet, maybe I should get Norm to do it..."
Shaking his head, Perry turned the faucet on and began to slide the dirty dishes into the water. Maybe he could convince Heinz to help him clean if...
「I have an idea,」 he prompted, glancing slyly Heinz's way.
"...What do you mean?" Heinz asked warily.
「Let's play Chore Poker.」
"Chore what?" Heinz laughed. "How do you play that?"
「Come on.」 He smirked and beckoned Heinz over to the kitchen table, where a deck of cards was waiting. Evidently, Perry had been expecting to have to do this. 「We play poker, and the chores are the bets. Winner gets to choose who does the chores.」
Heinz's face scrunched up. "So you win, and you decide I get to do all the chores? Pass."
「I could also decide that we do them together,」 Perry suggested, smiling to himself.
"Is there any way besides winning where I get to get out of doing said chores?" he asked hopefully.
Perry huffed a laugh. 「We can make it interesting. What do you propose?」
Heinz studied Perry, looking him up and down. His foot tapped gently upon the linoleum floor while he folded his arms, suddenly feeling bold. "How about... we can choose to take an article of clothing off after a loss instead of doing a chore. That better?"
Perry raised an eyebrow at him. 「If that's what you want.」
"Fine. Deal me in."
Perry huffed again, reaching for the cards and shuffling them expertly. Heinz clearly didn't know what he was getting into—but then again, that was what made poker fun. He dealt the cards and burnt one easily, then laid out three extra and took a seat at the table as he observed his hand. He picked up a chip from the side of the table and flipped it into the center. 「I bet the dishes. They need to get done.」
"I bet, um..." Heinz looked nervous. Perry raised an eyebrow at him again. "...Vacuuming. Vacuuming's easy. Assuming you don't have to vacuum up inator parts, that is, it's a nightmare when it tears through the dust bag—"
Was he nervous because of the chores or because of his hand? Perry couldn't tell, so he merely raised the bet and tossed in a third chip. 「And we need to dust. Dusting is easy, too.」
"You do realize that this is silly and that we have a whole robot to do these things for us, right?" Heinz eyed him above the two cards he was holding, and for a moment they wore matched expressions. Of course Perry was aware of that. He was also aware of the fact that Norm tended to break more things than he cleaned. "Fine. Fine, hang on."
Heinz studied the table and watched as Perry laid out an additional two cards. He'd had a rather terrible hand to begin with, but with the cards laid out, he thought he might have a fighting chance.
He laid his cards down and declared, "Three pair."
Perry rearranged the cards to form a straight. Heinz slapped his forehead.
"Scheiße, okay wait. I can still take off an article of clothing, right?" He counted the chips, then kicked off both of his socks and set his watch on the table. Perry shot him an amused look.
「Really?」
"Shut up. You wear a watch too." Heinz pointed at him accusingly. "Just deal."
Perry obliged, and they continued to play. In the end, though, Perry still had his pants and a few extras while Heinz went down to his boxers.
Perry glanced at the growing pile of clothes, his lips pressed into a thin smile he was trying not to make. 「Are you gonna do the chores dressed like that, too?」
"If I do, can I do one less chore?" Heinz bargained, quirking a brow at him.
「Fine. You don't have to dust. But you're going to help me with the dishes and changing the sheets. And you're going to vacuum.」
Heinz made a face at him. "You're no fun."
「I think I just proved that I can be a lot of fun,」 Perry disagreed, rounding up the cards and chips. He stepped over to the pile to get the rest of his clothes, but stopped Heinz as he approached to do the same.
「I don't think so,」 he told him, eyes twinkling as he kissed his nose. 「A deal's a deal. Come help me do dishes.」
Heinz pouted, but followed him to the sink, where the warm water sat idly waiting for them to begin.
Perry washed and Heinz dried. They passed the time in peaceable silence, each lost in his own thoughts, until Heinz accidentally dropped a dish back in the rinse water and splashed both of their fronts. Perry frowned, looking down at himself before glancing at Heinz, and splashed him back.
"Hey! I didn't do that on purpose, you know!"
Perry splashed him again.
"Oh, that is it." Heinz dunked his hand back in the water and heaved a tide of water out of the sink, splashing Perry so much that he was quick to discard his shirt in favor of staying warm. Perry shook himself off and glared, practically forming a wave as he used his whole arm to splash back at him.
"You are so immature," Heinz grumbled as he tried to wipe himself off, covered in soap as he was. Perry raised an eyebrow and took the sponge, pretending to wipe Heinz clean with it.
「Sorry, let me help you.」
"You—!" Heinz had had enough. He tackled Perry 'round the middle, causing the both of them to skid along the kitchen floor thanks to the water dripping there. Perry couldn't help it—he laughed and laughed, even as he bumped his head on the nearby wall.
"Lunatic," Heinz teased fondly, brushing Perry's hair away from his face. "Are you okay?"
Rather than answering, Perry pushed Heinz to the floor, towering over him with a self-satisfied smirk on his face. He leaned downward, offering Heinz a soft, slow kiss that he gladly returned.
「Now we have to mop,」 Perry pointed out. 「Your fault.」
Heinz was about to reply, but Perry had moved lower still, kissing and sucking at his neck so that he writhed in his grasp and let out a little moan.
"What are you doing?"
Perry's eyes flashed as he glanced up at him.
「Punishing you for it,」 he replied, biting down on an exposed nipple. Heinz keened. 「And then we'll finish the dishes.」
Heinz had never been so glad for chores.
