arthur and you sitting under a tree. he leans against the bark, legs extended and clad in denim. you’re laying down, head propped up in arthur’s lap, your hat loosely placed atop your face to cover your eyes. it had been a good day. those were few and far between. you’d passed through some beautiful land, looked for supplies for camp. and now, you were resting in an orchard.

you can feel his arms shifting, hear something light toss upon the soft grass next to you. after a few beats, some more shifting, arthur’s calloused fingers slip something into your hand. it’s tender, slightly cool, the flesh of it smooth and delicate. with your free hand, you lift your hat from your eyes and examine what arthur passed onto you.

half of an orange. fragrant, ripe, and peeled just for you. perfectly, not a single lick of rind or white-hairs visible. you gently thumb the citrus half, the pad of your finger pushing a piece away from the others.

“eat it,” he mumbles quietly. looking down at you for only a moment, the cowboy pushed a small sectioned slice past his lips.

smiling, you do the same. how sweet it was that something so big and rough could handle something so fragile and small.

Lyney is pretty good with animals of all types pretty much!! Besides fish though, fish hate him (and no even in a scared way, they bite him.) As soon as he realizes you have a pet he instantly wants to befriend it, asks you what they're like, do they like to eat this or that..

Probably gonna have to tell him to not give your pet too many treats, cause he might overdo it a tiny bit while trying to make him their favorite. Would probably start bringing a treat for everytime he went to your house then explains it as him having to pay an "entrance fee". If your pet is able to/likes to play he might bring them a toy like.. Every two or so weeks? Whenever he sees a cute toy for their species he'll just get one for your pet.

If it's a dog, he doesn't have much experience with them due to various reasons, but he doesn't dislike them or anything (even if he does prefer kitties..) You might not want a big one on his lap or anything though since he's not neccesarily the biggest guy, so be careful with that.

Asks you if it sheds before he even enters the house. He needs to know cause nine times out of ten he just finished a show and he does not want pet hair all over his show clothes. If it is then he'll probably end up going home to change to avoid any issues regarding that.

Cats love Lyney 99% of the time, can tame even the craziest of crazies into lapcats. Of course, this is 99%, not 100.. The 1% wants him dead. Birds also tend to like him since he's used to working with doves and whatnot, used to dealing with them. Asks you if he can have it on his finger/arm. Also good with rabbits due to him also working with them, might scare it like once with a magic trick though since he might forget yours isn't really used to that.?? Feels bad afterwards though and gives it food as an apology so I suppose it's alright.

Lyney is willing to petsit and is good at it. If your pet destroys anything you own while your gone he might just.. Replace it and hope you don't notice. Would be a bit scared that you might get angry at him also for letting it do that or something. In general would describe him as a pretty solid person to keep around your pet with points deducted due to the issue of him spoiling the thing too much, 8/10.

Lynette is liked by cats, and they tend to gravitate towards her. So, if you have a cat, hurray! If you have a dog, however...

Dogs don't really like her, with the range going from them barking at her constantly to just ignoring her, depending entirely on the dog's personality. Don't worry, though; it won't really offend her. She's quite used to it, and besides, she isn't a dog fan anyway. She would probably ask you to put the dog up if it won't leave her alone, though.

A lot like Lyney, she is also good with birds and rabbits. But do keep in mind, just because she's good with them, doesn't mean they're good with her. Birds, unless having been subject to Lynette for long enough, tend to fly away from her. Not all of them, just most of them.

Rodents and the like also run from her. And amphibians. And fish. Her cat-like features and smell seem to frighten any animals that would qualify as prey to a cat. But again, she doesn't really mind; she expected this sort of reaction anyway.

She doesn't try to make them like her or anything, wouldn't even mind if they hated her. Still, that doesn't mean she would turn the animal down if it does happen to enjoy her presence; she'd not-so-secretly like it if they did. Lynette might even come to your house just to chill out with the pet (you being a small side bonus to the trip).

Pretty good petsitter, kind of. Lynette has her own cats at home, so she's used to being climbed all over or serving food and whatnot. As long as the animal isn't scared of her, it will go fine. Just pray to God you have no machines that she'd have to use in her time there, and she'll be fine, 8/10 (points deducted for obvious reasons).

𖦹 all in all he becomes this big sad cuddlebug in front of you meanwhile becoming increasingly violent with anyone who glances at you on the field.

𖦹 im not sure if he'd be honest with his intentions ever. he also doesn't entirely lie to you, he just... heavily dramatizes things. i think he's a bit too lucid, funnily enough, too let himself completely let himself express this.

𖦹 one thing is for certain, he is waiting for you. only cause for concern- the longer you make him wait the less he will be lying to you, and the more you are going to be late-night visited.

XIAO remains incredibly quiet when you tell him about your problems. it’s a comfortable silence, a safe haven that only the two of you share, and the ambience in itself is enough to provide comfort to the both of you. occasionally XIAO would mutter soft, whispered words of sympathy, in hopes that you’d feel better, because if there was anything he hated the most, it’d be seeing you like this—distressed and troubled.

VENTI comforts you by trying to make you laugh. with him, there’ll always be that vibrant “cheer up, dove!” that’d never fail to put even a slight smile on your face. he’ll try everything just to see that smile of yours light up your features again, because a world without it would be a place he’d never want to be in—it goes without saying that it’s his favorite thing about you.

DILUC looks at the situation logically. he’s always been such a rational and professional person, and no matter what the circumstances may be, he’ll always find a reasonable solution first, although, if his significant other needed comfort more than a solution to their issue, he’d be willing to try and reassure you, even though comforting may not exactly be his forté.

ITTO, in any situation, would be ready to beat someone up just for you, because who in their right mind would hurt someone as graceful as you? in no world was this acceptable, and he made sure that anyone who ever hurt you was aware of that. he’ll tell you that you’re amazing constantly, and when you’d ask why he kept doing so even when you felt better, he reasoned that it was so you’d never forget.

I will admit he follows a strict schedule and throws you off a bit, but after a while it's common between the two of you and definitely relaxing. I don't think he's the type to stay in bed and cuddle after an hour or so the two of you wake up; he's going to likely wake you up around 8 sharp and bring you into the shower, then you guys can snuggle as he gives you the massage of your life. And as you are getting dressed he'll set up all these scent sticks that he knows that will have a calming effect on you. And his favorite part: You guys sit down together and read quietly, basking in each other's warmth and silence. His aftercare is mostly mental aftercare, but will still make sure the physical side is well taken care of.

Kuro Kiryu may have a lot of energy to burn whenever the two of you go at it, but the following morning he's out. It's likely you wake up before him, his snores muffled by the blanket, and you get out of bed to do your morning routine and recover from last night. But even if the man is knocked out cold he knows that your warmth is now missing, and will fight in his sleep to try and gain it back. When you walk into the bedroom again he has his face shoved in your pillow, splayed all over the mattress. Because he's been fussing so much he woke up just a little bit to realize your presence in the room, and opens his bleary eyes to see you all freshened up and all. Will definitely complain that you didn't wake him up so that he could do it for you. But no matter- within a second your diving back into the sheets, hooking onto Kuro like a koala and shoving your face into his chest. General aftercare is just bear snuggles and nothing else :)

Souma Kanzaki would have to be taught how to do proper aftercare, just like sex. To be honest I feel like the first few times he would be needing the aftercare, you cooing little cute things into his ear as you force his sore muscles to relax. But after a while he gets more attuned to it, and soon enough he'll be the one to give you those well-needed massages and sweet words. Generally though it's never directed toward just one person, but you guys hold down each other. So when Jeff finally calls cut at the end of the day, you're off to your trailer practically immediately for a long, hot shower and some much-needed rest.

Of course, rest isn't really much of an option in your line of work. You've barely been out of the shower for five minutes, changed into comfortable pajamas and reading a book in bed, before someone outside is hammering on the door to be let in.

You grimace, but push yourself out of bed all the same - you don't want to be rude.

It's Dunn, also freshly-showered, with a big grin on his face. "Hey, Y/N," he says. "We're all drinking a couple and hanging out by the fire-pit, if you wanna join us."

"I mean," you say, apologies ready on your tongue. "I'd love to, but - it's been a long day. I really need some alone-time, you know?"

Dunn holds up his hands like, no problem. "Totally understandable. Anything I can help with at all, or...?"

"That's really nice of you to ask." You shrug, not meeting his eyes. "I don't know. I'm just feeling over-stimulated, and if I went out there now I don't think I'd be any fun to be around."

It was one of those days.

Sephiroth was on edge, with his phone to his ear, and his boots making the floor creak as he paced around.

The mixed sounds and aura of his anxiety were also putting you on edge. He was on the phone with Lazard, rejecting a mission request for whatever reason. He didn’t really like to keep you in the loop of his SOLDIER duties as he said he never wanted you to worry about his job. Although that’s just him reassuring you that he’ll be fine, You somehow still find it...disappointing. Truthfully, you have a right to know since you two are together.

He placed his phone on the table; heaving a sigh so hard, his back fell forcefully, revealing his stress and concern for the situation.

“Sephi, are you okay?” You asked in a warm tone.

He turned around swiftly. “What does my face say, Y/N? The only people I care for are turning their backs and dropping like flies before me. And how do you think that makes me feel?”

“I-I...”

“It’s as if people don’t even take the grain of salt I try to extend with my whole...heart-“

He cut himself off, suddenly gazing my way.

I looked him in his eyes in return.

“Will you leave too?”

“I never said that.” I spoke up.

“What do I look like? Huh, Y/N? Do I look heartless? If so, Is that why people assume I care less about the people I surround myself with? The fame doesn’t concern me, my power doesn’t control me. And why do I still get the short end of the stick?

What even just happened? You tried to speak but he cut you off twice. This is his defense mechanism. He tries to shut people out when upset.

While even in the heat of the moment, he instantly regretted talking to you like that. Indeed, he does have a heart. Otherwise, you two wouldn’t be together. His heart is the reason you are together in the first place. You can empathize with his misunderstood and heavy heart. You want to figure him out and give him the love he deserves.

In silent retaliation, you stormed upstairs to your room to tend to your low spirits.

A few moments later, his heart began to ache while his face held a bit of sorrow. He felt so bad for lashing out at you. He sighed to himself once more.

“I have to do better. I love her too much to be acting like this.” His feet lead him upstairs to you, face down in your pillow with your precious blanket in your arms. That blanket was your most prized keepsake. The warmth in each fold seemed to shield you like no one else. It comforted you with Its scented memories and lighthearted aura.

No one seemed to understand your attachment and you don’t really care to explain it. What matters the most is that you know its significance and it’s your comfort.

There were a few occasions like this where after an argument or a hard day of work, you’d come right home to your possession. Sephiroth never really noticed this until the third time he’d caught you with it. And this time would count as the fifth.

He treaded lightly once more in your room, trying to get a feel of your mood.

“Y/N...” He started, “I’m- I’m so sorry. I don’t-“

“I thought you didn’t want to speak to me.” Your muffled voice sounded through the cloth.

“And I understand if you don’t want me to speak to you as well... I’ll give you your space. I’m sorry, my love.” His silver locks surpassed his face, nearly sinking to the floor as his head dropped.

Before he could leave, even with your timid heart, you spoke your mind.

“Why do you always do this, Seph? You cut me off and shut me down when I try to help you. And it never fails...” You say, clutching the blanket a bit tighter.

You continue on, “And you wonder why people think you’re heartless. It’s because when they extend their heart to you, you put it aside and make your SOLDIER duties your main focus. I try my hardest to get your attention and affection because I love you. And I know you love me too because I see it; but what will it take for you to settle down and just make time for those you love?”

Those words made a bigger impact than you initially thought. You said all the right things to get through to him and this day forward he really would take your love-driven advice.

Your relationship is not toxic at all. You both are just trying to understand each other as a new couple. Arguments can be healthy. Without them, there’s no breakthrough. And this was definitely what you two needed.

He lifted the covers up on your bed and got in next to you. You turned around to face him.

Your glistening cheeks appeared, showing that you had been crying. He grazed his thumb over your cheeks, wiping them dry.

“You’re so right. And I’m dead wrong. I want to be better for you, Y/N. I love you so much.”

you really wish you had a window seat. maybe then, sitting in class wouldn’t feel like such a drag. pursing your lips, you return your head back to the table as the teacher turns back to the board. you lift it once he turns around once again to face the class. the cycle repeats for the duration of the period, only ending when the bell sounds down the halls at exactly 11:50 AM. lunchtime.

by this time, it’s safe for your friends to assume that you’ve already knocked out after enduring an hour and a half of the monotonous hum of your physics teacher’s lectures; shaking you awake and tugging your limbs out the door, through the hall, and down two flights of stairs is something they do on a daily. but what really jolts you awake is the sound of lisa’s tray thudding down in front of you, paired with a, “so, you mind telling us what all that was about?”

your hand is groggily streaking through your hair, face scrunched in confusion when you reply, “what’s that?” lisa’s complexion denotes incredulity and you’re not oblivious enough to miss that even jisoo’s does as well. lisa follows up, “jaemin? and you?” you pick at the grain of rice that’s escaped the bowl, distractedly, you muse, “jaemin and i...what? what’s up with us?” jennie, who had a different class the previous period, is the last to join your table of five. “what’s up with you and jaemin?”

huffing, lisa relents, “are you guys like...a thing?” jisoo perks up at that, sitting straight with her elbows propped onto the table, “yeah, i saw him stari-” you finish processing lisa’s proposition in the middle of jisoo’s remark, “what?” 

“well we just thought that because he was sta-”

“no, what, no! i-” your voices drops low when you realize who’s sitting two tables down, “he’s right there, you guys might wanna shush up.” they do stop talking about it, but only after jennie adds with a playful glint in her eyes, “why? scared to admit he might like you back?”

jaemin has a window seat, though he wishes he had any other seat in the room. maybe then, he could be closer to you. he doesn’t mind staring from a distance though, something about not needing to be discreet. 

you, on the other hand, are a great deal bored. the period after lunch marks as your least favorite, sucks to say that taking a health course was required. mindlessly, your eyes rove over to the window, hoping to catch a scene of some rowdy boys on the soccer field or maybe an interesting shape in the clouds. instead you’re met with the eyes of na jaemin, burrowing holes into your own. both of you are instantaneous in looking away, heads turned up front, but both of you are also in sync when your heart begins to overwork itself. 

it’s then when it clicks. staring. he was staring at you. you mentally deck yourself in the head with a chair because the girls actually had a point. risking a glance, you dart your eyes over to the boy again, only to swerve back equally as fast when you see that he’s looking right back. 

you pass the majority of the rest of class with your sights held up ahead, for once, though as usual not a word of what your teacher says strings coherent thoughts in your mind. class is over soon, give or take three minutes, when a hand taps urgently on your left shoulder from behind. checking to see that your teacher is still writing out definitions on the board, you turn. the girl behind you has an almost annoyed expression on her face, as if the post-it note she was asked to pass on to you was more a chore than a favor. you also note lisa, who sits behind the girl, currently donning the most anticipating face as she motions for you to hurry up and take it. you assume she knows what it’s about or maybe who it’s from.

what you’re not expecting, as you unfold the pink sticky note, is the writing to be jaemin’s. distinctive in the way he crosses his t’s with swirls. it reads, can i take you on a date after school? with two boxes drawn below, one labeled yes! and the other no! but maybe next time ;).

diligently, you fill in the box as if it were an answer on a scantron test, the blue ink opaque from corner to corner. the bell rings and before the girls even have a chance to launch in your direction, you’re already sending them that look, the one that says ‘i have a love life, go find your own and leave me alone.’ they’re quick to leave but you’re sure your phone is bound to be blown up with questions in just a few moments. you busy yourself with tucking away your textbook and pencil case and everything else except the little slip of paper, all while pretending that you don’t see jaemin’s figure approaching you in your peripheries. 

he’s in front of you now and speaking, two things, both of which you find very hard to digest. you have no clue what he’s saying but you hold out the post-it note for him to see and the smile he gives in return, oh boy, you bet you could stare at it for the rest of your life, even if it meant being stuck in class for all eternity.

Hi folks! I am so, so sorry for not posting, like, at all, ever! I am trying really hard, I need to stop procrastinating and get on you guys’ requests! Ellie lost touch with most of her friends at home when she moved to Xavier’s.

(Most.)

There was one left, and if you’ve ever read one of these fics before, you know it’s you. Her best friend who she definitely doesn’t have a crush on.

Y/N ♡: Ellie!

҉  ♥Ellie♥  ҉  : What.

Y/N ♡: Your make-up looked really cute on the news today!

҉  ♥Ellie♥  ҉  : Thanks. Your point?

Y/N ♡: I was wondering if you would film a tutorial…? Please?

҉  ♥Ellie♥  ҉  : You don’t need a tutorial, you do makeup just fine. I saw your Snapchat story

Y/N ♡: Yeah, but I don’t do it how you do yours! I wanna learn THAT….

҉  ♥Ellie♥  ҉  : Tough.

Y/N ♡: :-(

Ellie rolls her eyes before leaving you on read. She’s so lucky you can’t see her face when you shamelessly compliment her like that. She gets so damn red, it’s embarassing. Whatever. She plugs her phone in and goes to sleep pretty quickly, not even dreaming.

The next morning, though, when she’s bored, she decides to create the video.

(Like it was a decision, when you were the one asking.)

She suction cups her phone to her mirror, as she typically does so she can watch Netflix and do her makeup at the same time, but instead of that black and red app, she goes to the camera and begins recording.

“Hello, everyone. Or, just, y’know, Y/N. This is how I do my makeup. I start out with a primer, because I’m not completely stupid, then I go in with my foundation. Yes, it really is this pale ass emo shade. Then I blend it with a beauty blender, yeah, even I haven’t avoided that trend. And then this gray eyeshadow. And then the eyeliner, duh. And then mascara. Lipstick optional, but I’m wearing it tod- Oh! Oh my god!” She covers her mouth.

(Shocked.)

“Hey!” you tell her, stepping through the door. “Oh good, you’re actually recording. I wanted a video of us BFFs reuniting!” You wiggle your fingers towards her, and she rolls her eyes. You were the fun one, she was the grouchy one.

“What the fuck are you doing here?!” She remembers the situation.

“I’m not allowed to visit?!” you ask in reply.

“It’s kind of a long drive!” She argues, gesturing with her hands a little, and you shrug.

“Well, yeah, but when you’re moving somewhere it’s a good idea to visit first.”

“What?!” Ellie asks. “You’re a-!?”

(You nod.)

“What kind?! I mean, what do you do?!”

The people who overhear as they pass swear she’s never been this loud before, always responding briefly and nearly muttering her words.

You offer her a packet of sunflower seed snacks. She looks at you, confused.

“Take one,” you tell her. She’s always resisting.

(It’s cute.)

“What’s this got to do with anything?” the jaded girl inquires skeptically.

“Just do it, doofus!”

She takes one from the pack, and goes to crack it.

“No, hold it in your palm.”

“Y/N, you’re acting weirder than these jackasses think I am.”

“Watch!”

You close your eyes, focusing on the seed in her hand. She watches as a small green stem cracks the shell open, roots sprawling out as the stem grows thicker and darker, growing taller until the sunflower bursts open.

“Oh. My. God. Seriously?”

You crack open an eye nervously, smiling with the same tone. “Yeah. And…” You control the roots, causing them to make themselves into legs with feet at the ends. You make the sunflower dance, waving its leaves like arms.

(She just watches.)

Ellie usually didn’t speak as a choice, but in this instance she genuinely didn’t have anything to say.

(Until she realized that yes, she did.)

“Um, Y/N… Well, uh… Can you make the sunflower stop dancing?”

(No, that wasn’t it.)

“Oh, yeah, uh, here.” You hand her the gift bag she hadn’t noticed you’d been holding, and she peeks inside. It’s a bag of soil, as well as a black flower pot and plate set with silver skulls spray-painted on. “For the sunflower.”

“Nice,” Ellie comments, placing the plate and the pot in the correct position, on her desk in front of the window.. You dump some of the soil in the pot, and make the sunflower sit cross-legged, more roots expanding outwards to stake in the dirt before you add more. You take a water bottle from your purse and wet the earth inside with what’s left.

“Well, uh, I’ve gotta tour the campus. Kitty’s showing me around.”

“No,” Ellie immediately disagrees, jealousy rushing through her veins like it’s racing against her blood.

“Did I remember her name wrong?” You ask, confused.

“No, just- I’ll show you around. Tell her not to worry about it.”

You peek your head out the door and shrug, but then you nod.

Damn it, Kitty had been out there waiting for Y/N & listening the whole time? How embarrassing… Ellie thinks.

“Alright, let’s get the tour started, huh?”

The two of you go to exit, before Ellie realizes she’s (uncharacteristically) forgotten her phone! She stops the recording and locks it, sticking it in her back pocket.

You follow her around, listening to her explain the classes you’d likely take and what clubs there were in an exhausted tone.

“Is it really that bad here? Maybe I shouldn’t come…” you tease.

“No!” she nearly shouts,and you look at her with a mildly surprised expression. “Uh, it really doesn’t suck or anything, I’m just… You know… Like that.”

“I was kidding, Ellie, and besides. The papers are all in order. I don’t have anywhere else to go, anyway, my parents… Well, you know how that story usually goes.”

Ellie nods. “I’m really sorry. They seemed better than that.”

“It’s okay. Now I get to be roomies with… Well…”

Ellie’s eyes widen. “Me?”

“Yeah! You’re one of the few students who doesn’t have a roomie yet, so when they told me I could pick, I chose you!”

She tries not to blush.

(It doesn’t work.)

“Oh, jeez, El, you’re really red. You’d think with all that working out as an X-Woman, you wouldn’t get so winded after walking around a bit,” you joke, at least about the working out part. You’ve got no clue why she’s so flushed. “Are you okay? You’re not getting sick or anything, are you?”

“Sick of you,” Ellie remarks, though she doesn’t mean it. The only thing that makes her sick is her own cowardice. She couldn’t even ask you out over text, and now you’re going to be seeing her in person? She’s never going to admit her feelings, is she? She’ll die miserable and alone, just like she is now. 

(And people wonder why she lashes out.)

You giggle nervously, eyeing her expression. Most of the time you knew she wasn’t being serious, or, at least, not being honest, but you did worry sometimes. “Alright… Suppose I’ll have to find Kitty to give me the rest of the tour…” You turn around teasingly, waiting for her to stop you as you slowly walk away.

(She doesn’t.)

It hurts your feelings signifcantly. You don’t turn around, knowing you wouldn’t be able to hide it. You begin walking at a normal pace.

“Hey, wait!” she protests, and you return. “Listen, I’m sorry I’m kind of a dick. I try not to be a dick to you, but it doesn’t always work out, because I really like you.”

“Um… Isn’t that supposed to be… Not like that?” You laugh nervously, a bit concerned for her mental health and your own safety.

“I just mean that- Well- I don’t like being nice to people! It makes me feel weak! And I don’t want to be weak in front of someone I like!”

“Like… Like-like…?” You ask nervously, trying not to sound too hopeful.

(It doesn’t work.)

“Yeah,” she admits dejectedly, your hope most likely being obscurred by the metaphorical dark clouds that always surround her. Most of the time, people saw them as anger. You understand, though.

(They’re shields.)

“Hey. Did you miss my tone completely or something? It was hopeful.”

“Hopeful that I wouldn’t? Sorry to disappoint you, prince- Mmf!”

(You kissed her.)
