I went to my first plant swap and man. It was WILD.

Keep in mind I heard about the plant swap a little over 24 hours before it was happening. I have no plants to exchange, I barely even have seedlings yet. But I do have a bunch of seeds so I decide to roll up and see what I can do.

Its from 2 to 5. I show up at 2:12 and its mostly houseplants. But the local library branch has a tent and they’re letting people check out some gardening books they brought if they have a library card on them!

So I checked out “Seedswap: The gardener’s guide to saving and swapping seeds” by Josie Jeffery!

Woohoo!

(They also told me that if I want the library to set up seed libraries I should email showing interest because a lot of librarians have suggested it but public interest is needed 👀 special reminder to email/contact your local library about adding seed libraries if you haven’t got one already!)

I considered leaving but I decide to hang around and see if anyone else comes around with stuff that’s more my fancy (no disrespect to people who like houseplants but I have a 99% killrate with them and they’re just not my vibe) and

I obtained a Boxcar tomato, a Blackberry Lily, a variegated pepper, a hibiscus cutting, loofah seeds, okra seeds, and FOUR (4!!!!) peach tree seedlings!!!

HELLO??????

I spent like 6 bucks total (1 on a peach tree seedling, 5 on the pepper) and the rest was just seed trades (or the peach tree lady just… giving me more peach trees for being nice. Be nice to the elderly you might get peach trees out of it.) I was there for like an hour and a half TOPS.

(I had to pot up the peach tree seedlings myself but this is still a W in my book lets see if they survive)

#I'm still waiting for the formal offer letter but let me tell you how i got this job #a hiring manager reached out to me on LinkedIn asking if I'd be interested in the team he's building #so i was like yeah I'll throw my hat in #i had an easy coding screen with him (valid palindrome lol)#then i had a screen with another manager around QA practices #then i went through four more interviews as part of a 'final loop'#one was a more difficult coding question. one was design a test framework. one was QA-behavorial #and the other was communication + collab behavorial #each of those six interviews was a 45 minute video call btw #this all took like. three months lmfao #then a week after that i heard back that they didn't want me for that role #but that one of the guys i interviewed with is a hiring manager on an adjacent team and he really liked me #when i looked back at my notes sure enough that guy is the one who ended our call with 'i hope i get to work with you!' lol #so they wanted to put me for this other slightly less technical role #and i was like yeah sure why not i liked that guy too lol #so the next day i had one final interview with a senior leader asking about my priorization and conflict resolution skills #which makes sense since this is a more cross-functional communication role with lots of talking to developers #and that guy was awesome and definitely someone I'd work for #so a few days later i got the verbal offer!#i will also add that during all of this i also went to the final stage for a different team at the same company #but was plain out rejected from that one lol #plus i did beginning screens for two other roles as well and didnt make it as far #all this to say i did like... over a dozen interviews with this company since October lol #and i studied like CRAZY. i spent hours on leetcode and hours putting together stories from my experience #i worked very very very hard and it finally fucking paid off!!!!!#back in october i said to my wife 'i want to get a job at (company). i think that will be my goal now.'#and she was like lol ok. but i kept getting interviews and studying for them #working harder than i ever did in college even lmao. and she was like oh wait you're really serious #and then she helped me sooooo much by taking care of the kids while i studied and stuff like that #but yeah i did it. i put my mind to it and i fucking did it!!!!!

politicians in this country are so evil why did a woman get arrested for literally just saying a word to a politician. why are people still in denial over this being a fascist state i don't understand

#reading her description of events is. horrifying #the fact there are people on the side of the politician is also horrifying #and this politician is like. infamous for being HORRIBLE. she got into many scandals already #one of the worst in this government which is saying a lot.#may they all drop dead tonight. amen #(it's extra upsetting bc *other* people keep dying bc of them)#(just today there was a terrorist stabbing. afaik everyone but the terrorist survived but this isn't a singular case)#(not even getting into like. anything related to the actual war. just everyday civilians here. simplest ppl they're supposed to protect)#(but they never would. for all they care as long as they get paid we can all die. it's preferable even)#i hate it here. i sincerely hope they lose all their political power and disappear for good

i want to host dinner parties for my friends and sleepovers and go on vacations and see movies and shows together and go to festivals together and go to concerts together and go hiking together and go grocery shopping together. but i live in another city and because i spent 8 dollars on grapes i have been brought to financial ruin

so i took my car in today because i thought it might just need some more brake fluid and although i tried to just look at it myself i couldn't for the life of me figure out which part under the hood was the brake fluid reservoir without having to lean all over my car and get all dirty, so i figured i might just have to pay a service fee and whatever for the fluid itself...

#i swear to god it's like my car knows whenever it's tax time #like 'hey can i have some money pwease? pweaaaaase just a thousand dollars for new brakes pretty pwease?!'#i guess!!!!!!#i kinda need 'em #jokes on you though because i haven't even filed my taxes yet #i'm gonna have to wait until next week when i get paid but they said i should be able to drive on them for maybe another month as they are #i had other stuff i was gonna do today but given the circumstances i decided to just park my ass back at home #mostly i've been trying to do some ~research of the local libraries to prepare for school which is starting....soon #but i'll just have to postpone my research for the time being #it's funny too because i was watching a tiktok the other day of 'what to do if your breaks fail'#i even almost scrolled past it but something told me to go back and watch #and now i guess i know why #fortunately i haven't had to use that information just yet #but dear god today whenever i put on the breaks it sounds like thunder #just a terrible sound for a car to make #prior to that all that happened was my break light kept coming on whenever i accelerated #it would go off once i'd been rolling for a little bit or sometimes if i'd ease off the gas and then accelerate again #and when i tried to research it myself that's where i got the break fluid thing from #really hoped it was going to be that simple but it never is!!#that's just the rules!!#so anyway that's how my weekend's starting off #not great tbh but it could be a lot worse so i'm just gonna be grateful this is something i can fix #(even if i really don't want to)#and just move on with it and hope nothing else tears up on this goddamn car #because it wasn't that long ago i had to take it in for something else so....#if i could go like....mmm a year maybe before i need any more expensive ass repairs i'd really appreciate it #tires i'm looking you straight in the eye don't you even think about it #i did have my follow up with my urologist today also and they did another x-ray #she said she doesn't see the stone anymore so i believe it did in fact pass so that's some good news !!#we're just gonna keep an eye on the one that's on the other side and still in my kidney

#i lost one of my grants for school because my mom got married and now we have to report her husbands income #despite the fact that he doesn’t even pay bills and every time we’ve ever gone out to eat he’s never paid #so i might not be able to live at school this year and i might have to live at home and commute all because she got married to a deadbeat #that they think is giving me money and contributing to our household when he’s not #he’s never even gotten me a birthday or christmas gift lmfao he’s not giving me tuition money or money for rent lmfao #anyways i’m getting in to bed i can’t do this rn #edit: and the worst part is i told her this would happen and that she should wait to get married until after i finished school #which i know isn’t reasonable and it’s very selfish but .. at least i was right #i hope i die btw

Kind of don't understand how I did so much today and how I'm not even wanting to collapse rn. I think I still have like adrenaline/babygirl needs watching instinctual feeling so I can't rest

#While Olive was at the vet's....#I got my tire changed #Then i called around for quotes on brake pads and found a really good one #and got my brake pads changed (and my rotors and hardware and brake fluid)#(Of which I got a REALLY good deal on and wuldve paid this same amount just for the brakes most places)#And I got a large dog cage for babygirl to stay in while she recovers (vet says she needs her movement restricted)#And I picked girl up from vets. Set up cage. Let her go in. And now I'm home #Ummmm a LOT of this I put on my credit card. Of which I am a little worried about #But I didn't stop today. Eating dinner now. Hoping to shower and relax a bit before sleeping

I didn’t see it coming, but it’s been occupying so much of my mind and my social feeds for the last month+, it was my little hyperfixation I’m gonna miss it.
