Well I can tell you some info and facts about the au, how I’m planning to develop it and all that !! It’s still fairly new and I did it out of nowhere at 3 am in the morning because I thought of my old ideas that I had years ago when undertale was on it’s prime but I was too young to bring ideas to life properly HAHAHA I hope my writing doesn’t bore you!

The au is pretty much founded on the idea of what if Sans also used to be a royal guard when he was younger? Boom. That’s where it spiralled and now I don’t know how revert back to who I was before because I ended up doodling a lot of undertale stuff along with the au, it didn’t help with the fact that my very good beloved friend kept encouraging me and feeding my inner demons of my undertale brainrot HAHAHA

I’m planning to develop the au into 2 parts: Before Undertale and after Undertale.

Before undertale is basically the events that happened before the plot of Undertale took place while after undertale is when they’re finally on the surface and the events that will happen on there! Sounds very generic and common I know, that’s why I’m going to try and develop it to be a bit different and hope that the au is not boring or developed horribly :’D It will take some time though since I know developing an au with a unique plot is gonna be very challenging, there are so many ways to mess it up and aghhh I really don’t wanna mess it up TT

Here are the main cast of the before undertale, this is a very OLD sketch that I made to figure out who’s there and how old they would be before I proceed to develop on the characters. So their heights might not be as accurate as it is in the sketch.

Also DISCLAIMER, Alphys and Undyne never met in before Undertale, so just know there’s no weird agenda going on here! They first met during Undertale plot when they’re both adults (Alphys 29, Undyne 23) so it’s all good!! I thought I needed to point that out because the age gap might seem alarming at first glance knowing they’re officially a couple 🙏 The before undertale plot begins at the age displayed on the sketch, and it ends after uhh.. 10 years? Yeah it’s ten years of events before the main undertale story starts!

I do want to portray the skele family with wholesome moments and you know, how great they are! Well that is before the downfall but we ain’t talking about that for now !! They’re just so beloved to me and I know they were such a sweet family AND WOULD HAVE VERY FUNNY MOMENTS IN WHICH I WANNA DRAW IT OUT!! So yeah, stay tuned for silly mini comics of them eheh

At first, I wanted Trickster (yes I’m calling his royal guard nickname, it’s like a whole different persona of his (alter ego???) where he’s energetic and acts very silly, whimsical, presenting puzzles and quizzes to his opponents sometimes but also can be very intimidating and prove that yeah, there’s a reason why he can be like that cuz it’s HIM) to be nothing more than a mischievous silly royal guard that wanted to keep causing trouble for Gaster but then it grew to be a bigger thing where he unintentionally became the symbol of hope and an entertainer for the whole underground before Trickster disappeared without a trace(?)

I’m still working on this whole concept so not everything is settled yet!! Well what I can also say about Trickster is that Alphys might be involved with the whole Trickster business too eheh

I’ve been practicing on drawing the characters so that I can draw better for this little au project of mine, I hope I can share my progress with you guys as things go on !!!

“childe? is that you?” you grin, leaning over the back of your seat as you realise who’s sitting behind you, “i didn’t know you take the bus back too!” his face cracks into a wide beam upon noticing you, “y/n! hi! i do sometimes when i’m too tired to walk.” and just like that, the two of you start talking excitedly – you’re classmates, though you aren’t too close you both still consider each other friends, and it’s nice to have someone to talk to instead of staring out the window at the rain with your earphones plugged in to pretend you’re in a music video. 

somehow, the conversation turns to birthdays, and as childe asks when yours is, you smirk, “it’s today!” you swear his blue eyes open so big you’re worried they might just tumble out of his head as he gasps, “what?! today?! so you’re turning a year older today?!” “yeah!” you nod, giggling at his exaggerated reaction. “nah, you’ve got to come here so i can wish you properly,” he shakes his head seriously, and you tilt your head in confusion, “there’s someone sitting beside you already though…”

you shouldn’t have doubted the one and only tartaglia for even a moment, because the next second, he turns to the man beside him with zero hesitation and gives them the most blinding persuasive smile ever, “hey! would you mind switching seats with my friend over there? it’s their birthday, and i really want to wish them!” “childe!” you scold, heat rushing to your face at his casual confession to this total stranger, “stop disturbing random people!” “but it’s your birthday!” he replies innocently, ocean eyes gleaming aquamarine. the man beside him seems a little confused by childe’s demeanour, but he’s probably more scared of what his reaction would be if he said no, so he nods, “sure, i guess…” and as the bus rattles along its familiar route, you switch places with the stranger, profuse thanks spilling from your lips before you fix childe with a scolding gaze. 

“hey, it worked!” he raises his hands in surrender, only to quickly grasp yours and shake it heartily, “happy birthday, comrade!” you laugh, shaking your head, “you’re so silly. thank you, childe.” you both hide your chuckles as you joke about the poor guy that had to switch with you, and you tease and banter with each other all the way to the train station.

✦ SHIKANOIN HEIZOU. [ analytical harmony ]

it has been a long day. not necessarily bad, but one of those days where the universe seems to be conspiring against you to make every small thing go wrong enough to get on your nerves. right now, you’re at your wits end as you stumble onto the bus, sending the bus driver a sheepish smile when your card only buzzes on the third tap. your eyes scan the interior – almost all of the seats are occupied, and your friend has skipped ahead to sit with someone else she knows. 

but your gaze stops short on a maroon-haired guy looking out the window, and with an internal cheer you realise that the seat next to him is empty and quickly slide into it. now that you’re closer, you notice that he’s actually quite handsome; all fluffy maroon hair and forest green eyes with a few moles dotted across his pale skin. you’re so busy staring that you don’t realise he’s trying to tell you something until he clears his throat. “y-yeah?!” you stutter in surprise at his sudden attempt at conversation. that was a dumb reply. now you’re staring at him with wide eyes as he softly asks, “um, is that your wallet?”

you look at the floor where he’s pointing, only to realise with horror: that is your wallet! “oh… hahaha, that is mine. thank you,” you’re ninety percent sure you are giving off the worst first impression of all time with your stupid responses. it’s almost like you’ve never spoken to another human being in your life. and what’s with your outfit?! of course the one day you don’t dress up is the day you end up sitting next to the world’s cutest stranger. as you bend down to pick up your wallet, you silently curse your unlucky stars. you dropped your purse in front of a cute guy! can this day get any worse?! 

famous last words.

because two seconds later, you’re trying to sit up straight again, and you hit your head on the hard back of the seat in front of yours. even worse, you groan loudly, “ow!” “holy archons… are you okay?” the stranger beside you gasps, although as you rub your head and look at them, it’s pretty obvious that they’re trying to hold back laughter. you’re torn between laughing or crying your eyes out, but the humour of the absolutely idiotic situation you’re in kicks in and you end up giggling even as you’re wincing in pain, “i’m fine, thank you… i promise i’m not usually this clumsy.” “really?” he quirks an eyebrow with a teasing smile, “could’ve fooled me.” “hey!” you pout, folding your arms across your chest in playful offence, “i know i might have just made the worst first impression ever, but i swear i’m a lot cooler!” “i’ll be the judge of that,” his gaze softens and he tilts his head, “i’m heizou, by the way.” “i’m y/n! let’s restart this whole thing – it’s nice to meet you!”

luckily for you, the bus is stuck in traffic, and the two of you end up talking about everything under the sun on the long journey to the train station. you aren’t certain if he’s convinced that you’re cool yet, but you’ll definitely keep working on it – even if it’s only to see the way his cute dimples appear whenever his features crease into a smile at your jokes. 

✦ XIAO. [ vigilant yaksha ]

it’s been a tiring day of an exhausting course. but at the very least, you’ve got your new friend to complain to as the two of you wait for the bus. “you know, i was so glad you asked me to join your group!” you grin at xiao, adjusting your tote bag. “it’s no big deal… you were alone, so i thought you could join us,” he gives you a soft smile, jade streaks of hair framing his face as they peek out from under his dark cap. “yeah, but still! it’s so difficult to make friends when the classes are so huge, so it was really nice of you.” “that’s true. you’re the first person i’m talking to outside class,” he nods in agreement. his casual statement makes you remember that you’re a professional yapper and you panic, “oh! by the way, if i’m talking too much, just tell me to shut up! i talk a lot, so that’s totally fine.” he chuckles, and his response makes a happy smile grace your lips, “no, it’s okay. i prefer listening, so it’s fine if you talk a lot.” so talk is what you do until the bus finally rumbles into the bus stop. 

the constant bumping of the bus on the rough roads combined with the soothing noise of the rain tapping against the window makes you drowsy, and you turn to xiao, “if i fall asleep before we reach the train station, you better wake me up, okay? don’t abandon me on the bus and just go home!” the corner of his lips quirk up into what might be a teasing smile, “no promises.” but when he sees your distraught expression, he reassures you, “just kidding. i’ll wake you up.” “okay…” you mumble a response, and within a few seconds, you’re asleep, head lolling forward as the bus continues along. you don’t usually fall asleep on public transport, far too worried that you’ll miss your stop and end up on the other end of teyvat, but with xiao beside you, you’ve got nothing to worry about, right?

you’re in the middle of a very nice dream when you hear xiao’s soft voice calling you, “y/n?” and his tone is so gentle, like he didn’t want to startle you, that it almost makes your heart beat right out of your chest. you stretch a little, eyes flickering open before sliding shut again, “mmm…” “we’re almost there,” he murmurs. and there it is again, that soft, gentle voice that you swear sounds like honey. you’re almost going to pass out, and definitely not from sleepiness. “okay… i’m awake.” you manage a smile, and he tilts his head almost worriedly, “don’t fall asleep on the train.” “i won’t!” you grin widely as you hop off the bus, hoping that shows how you’re 100% awake right now, and he smiles, “okay then, i’ll see you tomorrow.” 

bahaha these are very messy but i just needed to get these out of my system before i went insane i think i should take the bus more often 😋 also yes these are all 100% experienced by yours truly and have not even been exaggerated for the sake of this fic // general masterlist

Chapter 2 has finally concluded! A whole 8 pages longer than the first!! Woo!! I have a feeling they may just get longer as we get more into the story haha. Oh well! Like last time, I'll be taking a break between chapters to rest a little, get the plot points for the next chapter more polished, and try to get a solid backlog of pages ready. Going to take about of month off- POSSIBLY a month and a half? Depends on how well prepping the chapter goes (I have doomed myself by setting it in ancient Ecruteak City and am not as familiar with classic Japanese architecture as I would like hahaha- time to find some refs and do a bunch of studies!). Either way- it will be back in mid-late November! That DOESN'T mean that the comic feed will be quiet though! Like last time, there's a between chapter Interlude page that will be going up on October 11th! And after that, I plan to post some behind the scenes development stuff on days that the comic would normally update- so if folks want to they can get a look at how I put this together. If folks are interested, I could also open up the ask box for a little while? Do a bit of Q&A for comic related things (I won't be answering anything too spoilery, but you're welcome to ask!). And since it has been asked for (and rightfully so, this thing is getting long and difficult to navigate) I've compiled a pinned masterpost to make navigation easier for folks on mobile. There's been an Index Page set up for the web version since the beginning- unfortunately it's hard to get to normally on mobile, so a lot of folks didn't have an easy way to thumb through pages, and that's no good! So- fixed! I'm also in the process of going back and putting "Prev", "Next", "Read from the Beginning", and "Latest" links on each page update. Which honestly I SHOULD have been doing from the start, but hey- live and learn I suppose? Also ALSO am going to see about getting the Neocities page for the comic that I started months ago more finished so it has its own home away from Social Media- but that's a bit lower priority at the moment haha.

But yeah! Honestly, thank you all so much for reading! [ a. n. ] ok so i have no idea where i was going with this, but all i had in my mind is trailblazer having their own companion, kinda like a pokemon, and that manhwa where that lady got transformed into a crow. i have no idea how those two connect but, fuck it we ball.

trotters. cute, interdimensional creatures lost in the stars. cowardly as well, since it spends most of its lifetime feeding and fleeing. but for some, they consider these creatures as good omens, or their companions, on their travels in the vast galaxy.

which is why THEY, the elated one, are curious about these little guys. these silly, little guys. aha chortles at THEIR words, masks and props and cards and all sorts of fun knick knacks jingling and swishing and swirling around the aeon.

and so the aeon spread out THEIR arms, masks searching for an unlucky trotter to be the victim of their fun. THEY searched and searched, high and low, casting THEIR gaze far and wide into galaxies that THEY know.

aha smiles with mischief. what if THEY gave one of these creatures sentience? give it fathomless intelligence, just like THEY did to that tiny noblesse worm. maybe this time, it can join the genius society, and then the universe will be shocked that a cowardly creature such as a trotter caught the gaze of that hunk of junk instead of a human! oh how hilarious would that be to see! aha laughs with tears in THEIR eyes as THEY get amused by THEIR mischievous thoughts.

those who follow the elation sense a change in the atmosphere, and they immediately knew that it was related to their beloved aeon. inside a tavern, many laughed in anticipation, eager to see what their elated one is about to do. “oh i do hope the laughter will use bombs and explosions!” one fool said in glee as she giggled and twirled around and around, fiery sparklers enhancing her joy even further.

hundreds of galaxies away, a lonely trotter walks on a path in an unknown planet, mind fixed on doing two things: flee and feed. but it was getting to the creature, and so with a sad, little ‘oink’, it sat down on the ground and looked up in the vast sky, shiny ears falling down in misery.

it sniffed, curling up in itself as the loneliness got to them. it doesn’t know how long it was traveling, but it knows that it was too long to count. or remember.

before the innocent trotter could continue to wallow in its pity party, the aeon of elation had finally arrived. loud noises accompanied THEIR arrival, making the creature scramble away from the eldritch being in front of it, body shaking in fear as it tried to make itself as small as possible.

aha cackles with elation. finally, THEY have found it! the perfect trotter to become THEIR emanator. with a wave of THEIR hand, the aeon gave the helpless creature the entirety of THEIR path’s power, just like THEY did to that worm. with a giggle of glee, aha ascends to the stars once more, taking the trotter with THEM as THEIR elation spreads throughout the mind and body of the creature.

let’s see if you can surpass that worm, little trotter. 

with a final laugh, aha sends the trotter to the place of one genius society member, THEIR elation being felt all around the cosmos once again.

When Rocket and his team broke you out of your prison, he quickly understood why you were locked in the first place. A woman, captive of a crazy sorcerer who just held you as nothing more than a pet on a dirty planet, who was rageous and powerful, capable of destroying a star. That’s what the old man said to them.

Rocket was a fool and didn’t take his word though. Not until you tried to blow the ship going back to Knowhere, or when you tried to escape destroying miles of half built homes, or the countless times where you broke something with your super strength.

“Alright, stay here, witch,” Rocket ordered, taking you with Nebula’s help to a new place you’d call home for now. Behind his small figure, Adam followed closely in silence but intrigued by you, who seemed to completely ignore him.

“I’m not a witch!” you fumed, moving your arm away from the tight grip coming from the purple robot. “Don’t touch me, scum.”

“Nebula, stop,” the raccoon uttered as she stepped closer to you, ready to punch your face. She grunted and left the room, passing by the Sovereign.

Rocket continued. “We don’t wanna hurt you-”

“Then why take me here?! I never asked to be part of your stupid team!”

Tbh I think it's still legit if you read and like Blue Lock for being so gay (at least subtextually), despite being misogynistic Kaneshiro seems to have sympathy for queer people to a certain degree. Besides the gay sidekick, As The Gods Will also has some other queer side characters (a lesbian, a trans girl, a few more hinted gay boys and a non-binary villain according to my memory) even though not all of them are well-written, the good ones are good. Specifically my most favorite is the gay sidekick Ushimitsu, he's actually a pretty well-rounded character with very strong role as a co-lead in ATGW 2, I never feel like he was disrespected in the story (rather I think he's obviously Kaneshiro's favorite), sure he's got an open ending that can be seen as tragic but it's actually in line of the whole theme of the story and I respect Kaneshiro to commit to writing it rather than just give a copout happy ending and it also proves his gay feelings as real & deep despite heartbreaking.

Now I wish Kaneshiro can have that same energy in writing Bachira as he's in a similar position to Ushimitsu in ATGW but somehow poor bee boy got pushed aside in bllk after U20 arc (probably in favor of more popular Isagi ship with Rin or Kaiser 🙃), I hope he makes good on the promise that Bachira will be a key character later in the series and this time since nobody will die in Bllk I hope Bachisagi will get a deserved happy ending.

I feel bad for liking blue lock because it has such a misogynistic creator but it's hard not to cling to something so obviously queer friendly.

there's definitely Japanese media that's queer neutral or queer friendly but blue lock actually feels like it's always on the verge of just being properly queer.

it's not fanservice like free or yuri on ice. it legitimately feels as close to canon as it can get without changing genres. and I think the creator having queer characters in the past gives him some street cred.

i know what homophobia in a manga looks like. it's that awful rapist character from one punch man. this hyper masculine but also hyper feminine muscly man who sexually assaults other men.

it's tokyo ghoul having its only queer characters being pedophiles, rapists, and sex addicts/victims who get sexually assaulted until they're "corrected."

it's having no subtext at all and only ever using gay men as a one off joke and gay women as a fetish.

at least blue lock does seem to respect its characters enough that it takes their hinted at sexualities seriously.

it really doesn't go for the obvious "ewwwwww we're both guys" jokes. it's kept very ambiguous. it's subtle (except when it's not, lol).

the only character who really fits the usual offensive gay anime representation tropes is Shidou, but even him I wouldn't count as bad rep (as the closest to canonically gay character, aside from Bachira).

Shidou might be super flamboyant but he also gets to have the coolest fucking moments in the series. he's not just some pervert, he's a badass. he doesn't just flounder around like some useless weird loser who only exists to be the butt of a joke.

he loves to fight and play soccer and feel alive. he has the coolest aura in the series and everyone is constantly in awe of the ridiculous things he can do.

he's a proper villain, who's out of pocket and insane, but who's also intensely lovable and silly. and honestly portrayed pretty sympathetically. for all his faults, he can be very kind.

there's a lot of depth to him, and honestly, I think Blue Lock is pretty good at not doing anything to suggest oh hahaha homosexuality exists. isn't that funny

plus I think Bachira is canonically gay. we know he's canonically in love with Isagi.

kunigami and aiku are actually confirmed bisexual too.

Shidou and Sae were also highly suspect during u20, to the point where even homophobes cant deny they have something weird going on.

so to me... that's a lot of queer characters who are taken seriously and actually have characters outside of being a joke or a gag. they feel like real people. they have distinct personalities.

the bar is in hell, but it's more than most manga/anime manage.

so I have to give Kaneshiro credit. he's doing as much as he can, without overstepping the boundary I'm sure kodansha has set for him.

it's just a shame he's a sexist. also, I hope Kaneshiro grows a pair.

An odd shaped cloud past that sparked Muichiro’s memory of you. It was unusual that Muichiro had not seen you all day, usually he would have found himself in your presence by now.

He contemplated looking for you, when he was distracted by a trail of lavender colored liquid. His curiosity got the best of him and he followed the trail all the way to a scene that shook him to his core.

You were sprawled out on the floor with the lavender liquid splashed all over you. Still cupped in your hand was a plastic cup filled with the lavender liquid.

Muichiro knelt down next to you placing his hand on your chest. Tears threatened to spill from his eyes at the realization you were no longer breathing.

He carefully pulled the cup from your hand, he brought it up to his nose and took a sniff. Was this what had killed you? He had to know.

The thought of going on without your company struck his heart harder then any blow before. If this was how you passed away, he wanted to pass with you. Muichiro quickly gulped down the rest of the liquid in the cup before he could think further on the matter.

The cup fell from Muichiro’s hand, the pain was unbearable as he grabbed at his stomach. Just then he felt the presence of someone behind him.

He turned around and was faced with the sight of a huge purple being. The creature's eyes read Upper Five. Had Muzan really replaced Gyokko already? The demon Muichiro had fought so hard to slay.

Muichiro pulled his sword out of its sheath. He wasn’t sure how well he could fight with this pain in his stomach. However, he was ignited by a new fury realizing this was the demon that had killed you.

He braced himself to fight harder than he ever had before~

Open Arms: One of the songs I relate to Kyra alot, despite all of the tragedy and cruelty shes faced, she still looks forward with a bigger smile than before. And even more love in her heart. No matter what challeneges life tries to throw at her, she still remains hopeful and chooses to trust the world anyways, leading with her heart above all. Despite how mischevious and careless she can be at times, deep down she really does care about the people closest to her.

Keep Your Friends Close: Kyra is extremely mischevious, and her morals are tricky to understand. She seems to follow a strict set of rules, but no one knows that they are. Shes playful, and treats most things as a game or as a joke, usually never realizing how dire a situation is, and being somewhat uncaring about how the others around her feel as long as she gets a kick out of it. The playfulness of Aeolus’ voice really gives me Kyra vibes too 😭😭

Ruthlessness: Elena has never been one to trust, and she never will be. Though she definetly isn’t a sea deity that’s had their son’s eye impaled by a Greek king— Elena definetly goes by the saying “Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves”. By being cruel to others she saves herself from the pain of betrayal. And as shes closed her heart off from the world, she doesn’t care how or what she has to do to come out on top, no matter how cruel she’ll seem to others. After all, down in the depths, its Kill or Be Killed.

Puppeteer: The biggest part of Elena’s character (atleast from Prologue to Book 3,) is the fact the persona she shows to the rest of the world is a facade. She invites people into her presence, gets them to lower their guard and they eventually regret it. Because despite how sweet and harmless she seems shes a puppeteer that uses people for whatever it is she needs, and she does anything in her power to protect her loved ones from any harm, no matter what she has to do to do it. Nothing is too cruel or too vile if it means she can keep them safe, and she’ll happily play the part of Puppeteer if it means that her loved ones can remain untouched.

Wouldn’t You Like: Jester is an extremely powerful and talented mage, and she often helps Kyra and the Aduece duo with whatever it is they need. While she’ll never directly do anything to help them, she’ll give them hints and point them in the right direction to get what they need. All the while she’ll be watching from afar, amused.

(Fun fact!: Jester is also inspired by this song, and Hermes from this musical!! :3)

Dangerous: If it wasn’t obvious already, Jester likes to pop up at only the most convenient of times HAHAHA. Shes always giving advice to the younger students, telling them to take risks and subtly pushing them into the right direction. Jester is a very supportive upperclassman, and while she won’t ever get involved directly she will give them the best advice they’ll ever receive HEHE, despite how silly she seems she can be rather wise at times.

there's a good range of jobs/career paths that involve weather forecast and farming specifically,,, there is such thing as an agricultural meteorologist? i wonder what degree that would need? i think that would definitely involve some kind of environmental science,,, we've probably got another stem kid on our hands!!!

i'll probably talk more in depth about that in a future post where i compile all the stuff we know about the prequel (the one i mentioned i'd make last week lol) (it's delayed bc i have finals aahh) but until then, back to episode yapping :3

I tell him the status that gets attributed to people like us is the language , assess of the audience .. ask them .. I have never believed the vocabulary or these incredibly silly epithets that come racing at one , so best to change the topic and talk some film craft etc., .. he carries on .. and I look about the Production to find an escape route, but none comes .. so I linger on with my diatribe, hoping that this rather odd topic would shift to something more appropriate ..

the gang is exploring. ren gets distracted by something and wanders off. eventually false calls him back because she's the head ren wrangler— but is it actually false? ren is happy to see "false" and starts enthusiastically yapping about monsters. he asks if they should go back (since false is always adamant on the team not splitting) and false is like "yeah, probably, but you can continue talking :)". ren is really excited by her endorsement then false tells him that she's always been grateful for his dungeon knowledge and hopes they get to adventure together forever after this is all over. ren is :D for half a second, then his rational brain breaks through the succubus effect because this false is ooc and she would NEVER directly tell him her intentions because she's Like That. it's too late and ren falls unconscious.

meanwhile martyn and false are trying to find ren. false spots a small furry creature in the corner of her eye and she's like 🤨⁉️ (she's paranoid of everything). but her curiosity gets the better of her and she follows the creature, which turns out to be a silly looking doggy. it's specifically engineered to lower false's defences so she's like "aww, its face is so stupid, how can it be harmful?". she's about to reach out and pat it when it suddenly transforms into fuckass ren. false is stunned then she sees a dazed martyn behind her and she instantly understands. she shoots "ren" straight through the heart and martyn is like "DUDE YOU KILLED HIM??" and she goes "MATE WAKE THE FLIP UP IT'S AN OVERSIZED MOSQUITO!!!"

martyn and false kill each other's succubi and revive ren. ren is Extremely Embarrassed about the entire ordeal so they leave him to rest on his own. nosy false instantly turns to martyn and goes "👀 soooo mister 'no workplace romance' seems to have caught ~feelings~ for our leader 👀". martyn defensively splutters out something before acting nonchalant and saying nothing is going to happen because he's a long lived race (elf) and ren is not so he's not going to bother. martyn has always been practical about his workplace relationships and never gets too involved. he's a wanderer who goes everywhere and stays nowhere, but being with ren feels like home, and he hates it because he'll outlive ren for hundreds of years. false can't really emphasize because she's also a short lived race like ren, so she pats martyn's shoulder.

meanwhile ren is going through a Crisis and he hates himself for "imposing his selfish wishes" on false and creating a fake ideal version of her because he doesn't want her to leave. also he just finds it really embarrassing and he knows the party will get the wrong idea and execute him. honestly he feels so bad about it that he might just execute himself. he's stewing in his angst when false comes over and jokes about his succubus like "it's not embarrassing if you saw martyn in a miniskirt, we ALL KNOW how you feel about that 👀" and ren is like hahaha lol but inwardly he wants to kill himself because it would be so much more straightforward if his succubus was romantic/sexual in nature. he feels better when false starts roasting him because that is how false actually acts and he needs to be sobered up. ren gets scared because false always reads him well so he conjures up some bullshit excuse about how his succubus relates to a Tragic Backstory from his past before he met her, and he knows false respects him and will leave it alone.

the party teases ren about seeing hot men/women as his succubus and martyn is not-so-subtly trying to suss out what ren saw. ren retorts by questioning what martyn and false saw, those two go 👀 at each other and decide not to comment. ren gets jealous of their solidarity and how they know each other's secrets but not him (lmfao bro fumbled) and they go "well you're not telling US your succubus either!!!".

anyways false's succubus is a cute and cuddly creature because it reflects her desire to not be seen as scary. she has a Tragic Backstory of being raised as a child assassin or something. for a long time, she only knew how to kill and backstab and scam, and she intended to scam ren but she accidentally got attached and it snowballed into forming an actual party with him. when she's with the party, she's not the intimidating, aloof killer. she's paranoid and skittish, doesn't like eating "weird stuff", she can be cute and quirky, and yay friendship. sometimes she wants to be seen as silly and harmless. it's a dog because that's the form ren took when he went into her nightmare to wake her up. martyn is confused about false's succubus but he wisely chooses not to prod because he knows she'll just be making fun of his.

ren decides to never ever ask false to stay with him. when this is all done and he's king, he assumes false is gonna go off and have fun exploring, and false goes "...??? yeah??? byeeee ren. good riddance. i'm so done with you". he throws a big farewell party and accompanies her to the border. ren has come to terms with false leaving and does a dramatic speech. false is skittish and standing there like 🧍‍♀️. false then complains about being scared of the outside world and ren is like ":D??? you survived the dungeon and you're so good at fighting?? :D" and she goes "🥺 i'm used to scary things inside the dungeon, not outside of it! 🥺". ren is confused. false is confused. in the end false twaddles her way into staying inside the kingdom and ren is honestly a bit pissed because he spent so much effort sending her off 😭. but at least it confirms ren's assumption that false will never directly say what she wants.

Second: How's your feelings toward canon Jean? You know, I understand the hate she gets with the old x-men movies, she was...a mess 💀 but while reading Logan's memories about her in your work, I was like "omg scott is USELESS and jean is evil af" and then it hit me the feeling of making a woman bad for the sake of a mlm couple while the othet part was just as bad, but not recognized as one, but...

It's probably because Logan's memories towards Scott tends to keep making excuses for him ?? idk, I just want to hear your thoughts about it :))

I am not a fan of Jean in most interpretations, especially not the movies - there may be some interpretations where she comes off better but shes not my cup of tea as a character, although she does have potential to be really interesting

However, the version of Jean in this fic is obviously something way worse than that. In the Scott pov fic it will become a lot more obvious when i get to that, but definitely was not my intention to just be like "woman bad because shes in the way of gay couple".

But this version of Jean from Logan's og universe is incredibly evil, and Logan is 100% valid in feeling that way. Scott is also Not Great and fucked up (as did Logan honestly but we'll get to that - and not to same extent) but in the story I'm creating its definitely not a case of Logan making excuses for Scott - honestly, with some of the context Logan is unfortunately missing, he may feel differently about a lot of things, but not Jean (if anything she probably will come off even worse). All 3 of them fucked up in some way, but this version of Jean is pretty easily the worst.

But like, not necessarily true of all versions of Jean, and its not my intention to have her /just/ be an obstacle! This is just a version of her, and its more because I wanted to explore how fucked up her powers could be if used by a terrible person, more than wanting to just get her out of the way or something. Like I don't like her, but I also feel like her whole deal is very under ultalised in the movies

Also just wanna say, as I post more stuff you will likely notice I have a bias towards writing mlm couples, but I wanna just be clear that that is because I am a gay man, so like thats what im naturally gonna gravitate towards reading and writing. I'm never gonna be intentionally placing a woman as just being an obstacle (not saying thats what youre saying I'm doing!! but just wanna be clear hahaha), though I am aware with the Scott pov its kinda situtionally ended up looking that way plot wise
