As a fellow hi3rd turned hsr player, how are we feeling about Star Rail now that some time has passed? I remember disliking it because new ppl wouldn't use Honkai Star Rail as the tag and would flood the HI3rd tag with a lot of "x reader" fics with the Star Rail men.

I dropped playing it after Seele's banner and haven't really felt a huge desire to progress past the Ice Planet. Idk, I worry that it'll go the Genshin route and become aimless and boring.

I do enjoy the designs a lot more than genshin's but still not as much as HI3rd. I like that we have an MC who doesn't feel completely unrelated to the story like how it feels in genshin, and Stelle actually talks instead of having a small flying companion speak everything for us.

Gameplay wise I think it is more fun than any of the previous games, but visually lacking a little. (Kind of biased here since I adore turn based combat) I guess I'm just waiting for the "WOW‼️" moment with this game.

Honkai Impact 3rd really won me over with the main cast of characters as well as the reveal with Sirin. I might not have loved every decision made along the journey of Part 1, but I never really felt bored or distanced from the story like I do with the other two games.

I've been playing Star Rail ever since its release, the only long breaks being between events and new patches because I didn't feel the need to grind constantly and I've been pretty burnt out for a while.

geez I surely do hate people who mess up the tags. it still happens, but on way lower frequency now I think. it's even more annoying when you wanna find one hi3 character with their very own tag but end up seeing just their HSR counterpart with messed up tags - big issue as a Murata Himeko enjoyer, smh.

the game is as if Honkai Impact and Genshin had a child. it's somewhere in-between in quality I guess, though it leans more towards HI3 (because it's a Honkai game, duh). the maps really be giving you this feeling of not-so-open open worlds from HI3. I guess the story is fine, though I've seen people saying it's rushed; ngl I was kinda surprised to see Jarilo-VI part being already concluded in just one version lol. I don't mind anything in the trailblazer, only that the trend of more and more gacha games deciding on the either full or partial self-insert with dialogue choice doesn't sit well with me.

while I'm not repulsed by the turn based combat I think I prefer the hack and slash combat of HI3, or just the types of combat that let you move freely. personally I try to have a taste of every combat type.

I love the most of HI3's part 1 too and while I lost interest in the story after HoV disappeared for good, the only thing that really bothered me besides the hov death bias was the finale which was soo damn rushed just to end before Star Rail's premiere, and other dumb things in it like the whole Ai-chan self-insert bullshit

Hi, this is my reintroduction to tumblr (kinda).

I go by May on the internet, it's some weird nickname I made of my real name and goes back to my first gamer tag on minecraft...

I'm currently 22 years of age, which sometimes makes me feel incredibly old on the internet? At the same time I seem to come across many other people my age who go through very similar struggles as me lol

I curretnly work fulltime as a waitress. I'm European so I get paid a proper wage there, and the work with my coworkers is very fun and comforting. I'm not always the biggest fan of other people, but being a people pleaser and having the ability to hide my true personality behind a "nice" facade makes my job possible and bearable. (jk aside, I really like my job)

Hobbies include:

reading (I always say that, but I barely ever pick up a book. Just spent most of my early teen years absolutely ramming through a shit ton of books. I still really enjoy reading, but I barely find the time to do it. My tbr list is endless)

gaming (I'll dip my toes into anything that's not an ego-shooter, my PS5 is one of my most treasured possessions)

watching movies (last year I dragges either my sister or one of my friends to the theaters at least once a month. Doesn't mean I'm a movie critic or anything, but I really like watching movies and I might just share some takes on it on here)

anime (just a select few, the most famous ones. Life's busy when you have a fulltime job and still have other hobbies, but I'm currently on my first watchthrough of One Piece! Will definitely post about this from time to time)

listening to music (realizing I have very basic hobbies bc my parents never urged me to pursue anything specific when I was a child, but anyway: I will listen to almost a bit of anything, but Taylor Swift and Ghost were amongst my most streamed artists on Spotify last year. Do with that info what you will)

writing. I did start with writing fanfiction, first harry potter, then boybands, then kpop, then anime. Most important to me was always my original idea though. I know many people have things like this. A few years ago I thought I'd actually go with trying to publish something. Now I have revised and rethought the whole thing. I barely write, but it's still in the back of my head all the damn time. I always think about writing, but doing the actual thing rn seems impossible.

As I'm writing this I realize how pathetic I feel doing this, beacuse I have this awful feeling no one is gonna respond and I'll end up regretting this so much that I'll delete it. Thank God the internet gives me the opportunity to be anonymous.

Anyway, the previously mentioned hobbies lead to my (current) interests that I'll most likely post about, so if you're into one or more of these things as well, let's chat!

in terms of games: Currently playing through Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and generally FF7 is probably a huge hyperfixation of mine and has been for years. I've just arrived in Gongaga on my playthrough and I'm loving all of it. The game caters to all the expectations and interests I have in games. It's just so insanely beautiful and makes me tear up every couple hours idk

on this note I'd like to mention that I dipped my toes into FF14 but since I only play on Playstaion now, all the commands are overwhelming to me. I'm definitely planning on playing FF15 and FF16

Kinda cringe but I swear I'm normal: Genshin Impact. Have been playing since early 2021, once had a pretty unhealthy relationship to this game, but I was mentally not doing well during that time. Having a fulltime job changed my perspective on the game. Now I'm a casual enjoyer bc I love the open world and characters, and I love to get into the lore, so I might post a few theories and stuff on here

On that note: Honkai Star Rail. Same company, but it took me way longer to get into the game. Really enjoying it now though, although I am struggling with a bunch of battles. Save to say, I am NOT playing the game for the meta lol

One Piece! As mentioned, I started my watch of it last year in summer just before the Netflix live action came out (work bestie talked me into it). I'm quite literally at episode 500 rn. Had to stop for a while at around Thriller Bark bc the first few episodes didn't quite do it for me. Now I try to watch a few episodes before sleep everyday :)

Other anime that I am different levels of unhinged about: Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, Bungou Stray Dogs, Demon Slayer. The basics, I know. Just don't have the time to watch a lot while other life stuff happens, you know. OP is the main thing rn, and until I am kinda up-to-date with that, everything else will have to wait lol

In terms of book stuff I must admit I keep going back to communities and fandoms I was a part of when I was a teen lol. This largely refers to stuff like Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugho, The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater and All for the Game by Nora Sakavic

Right now though I am more interested in reading some classics and other stuff. Read Britney Spears' biography last year (within the span of one day, I wanna add), currently I'm reading a chapter of Crime and Punishment once in a blue moon. I'd like to read more stuff like that in the future, but everything at it's time ig

Other fictional universes I was once quite unhinged about: Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. Both communities are kinda dead atm though. I'm still in the process of reading the books (which means I last picked them up over a year ago. But believe me, I'll get there, eventually.... someday)

In terms of music as I said I listen to almost anything. Not a lot of rap and techno, though. I like stuff with lyrics I can sing along to and feel deep within my bones. I wouldn't call myself a "fan" of any particular artist, I was very unhinged about musicians as a teen and I have learned my lesson. Now I just listen to the music without caring too much about the artist themselves. I used to really like 5 Seconds of Summer as a teen, then I moved to Kpop. Now I barely keep up with either but just listen to the stuff I did back then

I think that's basically it for now? The most important parts about myself. Stuff I like to talk about, so if you like some of this too, maybe come talk to me? I wanna get to know people here after all, and I have learned this is probably the best way to start.

I don't have many conditions for friends tbh. I'm 22, so anything between like 19 and 26 or so is fine as long as the vibes are good :) I don't care about genders and all that, personally going by she/her. Ohhh this is fun :3 I still need to catch up a lot more with both Honkai Impact and Genshin Impact, but so far I would pick these:

Honkai Impact: I loooove Kiana, she's a ray of sunshine and such a good main character! She feels like a breath of fresh air, having her own personality and story. Not saying that Genshin and Star Rail's protags are boring (they are not) but you know, they are semi-silent and Kiana's thoughts and struggles feel a lot more personal.

I'm also really, really curious about Otto! He could potentially be my fave character because I love villains and he's voiced by Akira Ishida. But I know Welt will probably steal all of my attention once he gets introduced... I love him in Star Rail. Himeko and Bronya are fine here, but I'm not super into them so far.

Genshin Impact: OKAY SO I wanna say Scaramouche/Wanderer because I'm obssesed with him but like I haven't met him yet in the game (I know things about him from YT and such though and he's pretty interesting, also his design and bratty personality are great).

As of the characters I have met so far ehhhh they are okay, Mondstadt characters are better than Liyue's in my opinion. But Dainsleif and Tartaglia/Childe are pretty cool. I can't wait to meet Fontaine's characters in particular though, they look pretty neat, especially Furina, Navia and Neuvillette (and Arlecchino? Idk if she's a Fontaine character).

Honkai Star Rail: OmmhGGgGG ALL OF THEM? But especially Acheron and Jing Yuan (they are the absolute best) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> as well as Aventurine, Welt, Ratio and March 7th. I love them so much but REALLY all of the characters are amazing. I'm also slowly falling into Sunday Hell lol, and I can't wait to meet the next characters Yunli and Jiaoqiu! I'm sure they'll be awesome as well. I just LOVE this game, it never misses.

:-0 no problem if you're not an avid yuri gal! I'd say not a lot has been animated anyway lol. Dragon maid is. Uh. -_-. And I would say adachi n shimamura suffers from "adapted from a light novel so its kinda weird" so I'm not surprised you didnt hook onto those.

If you ever want suggestions you might like slow start or demon girl next door, both pretty fun slice of life comedy affairs. For more action akuma no riddle is still solid.

I'll tell you a little anecdote about each game!!

Hollow Knight: I first played hollow knight at my cousin's house in 2018(or 2019?) I sorta sucked at it. I remember saying "this is just swordigo but, like, better" and I guess I was right? swordigo's a mobile metroidvania I used to play btw lol~ anyways in 2020(??? or 2021?????) one of my favourite youtubers (merg) started playing hollow knight and I was like huh..! this is actually sorta fun?? I didn't have an income nor allowance at the time so I couldn't BUY the game for myself.. so I watched his ENTIRE series before I bought the game for myself!! still, it was fun!

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva: You may not know this game, but there are two modes! arcade mode, and mix mode! arcade mode is like the mode where you hold the joy-cons vertically and use like motion controls and uh it's complicated but basically I LOVE THAT!! I LOVE THE MOTION CONTROLS SO MUCH!! LITERALLY THE ONLY GAME WHERE I LIKE THEM LOL!!! Also! Project Diva is what got me into vocaloid! not the other way round! isn't that cool!!!

So I am finally getting around to writing a proper intro post lol, so hi, i'm tsintzask, or tsin for short. i use that handle everywhere online pretty much, so if you see a tsintzask elsewhere, chances are it's me.

i have had this blog for a long time now, but only really became active here after reddit decided to ban the app i was using to access it. I was an /r/196 user who migrated to my unused blog, basically.

I'm from Greece, and I study computer science in college. As of the most recent edit, I am doing my masters program, so that's going pretty good.

i would consider myself an anarchist, though i don't think humanity is currently ready for that kind of world - i think there's just too many selfish people around that would seek to take advantage of things. still, the current system has got to go. the fundamental idea behind capitalism is to prioritize money over people, and that's just plain evil.

As for other stuff about me, i have been told before i have neurodivergent vibes (it wasn't in like in a derogatory way, but as a serious thing) and yeah i kinda see that. I ought to go get checked sometime

D&D and Pathfinder

I've been a player in both d&d 5e and pathfinder 2e, and a DM in d&d 5e. we're talking whole years of doing this. making characters is really fun, and playing them is even more fun! I mostly play online over Discord, but have played a lot irl too, and still do.

Pokémon

While i'm not as into it as i used to in my teens, i have played every game from pokemon pearl up to ultra moon, but not any further as i don't own a switch. that is subject to change if/when i get more into piracy. I've also played pokemon emerald and leaf green in emulators, and i've played mystery dungeon: explorers of darkness. one of the few video games to actually make me cry, btw.

I'm not a theater nerd or anything, but I did go to an amateur theater group for a couple years. was fun, i'd do it again for sure!

Basic Human Decency

I just think being nice is good. i don't get argumentative often; I used to argue often, but i try to keep most of my interactions with bigots/assholes/etc as a simple joke on their expense before i block them. also, it's taking some effort, but when i have something negative to comment on someone i don't actually have reason to dislike, i've been trying to just let it go and ignore instead.

omg kimchi i saw your reblog of the art i reblogged and they're basically the main characters of this game called 'tears of themis'!! it's created by the same company who created genshin impact and honkai star rail & i haven't played it yet but i have it downloaded and i've been watching a few gameplays on youtube LOL

it follows the otome style of games, except it has more mystery & thriller aspects as well! and the people in the art were the mc (who we play as) + the other four main characters (aka the romantic interests 😋) it does seem pretty fun though! reminds me of mystic messenger hehe <3

I didn't know how to feel about Seele and Bronya being in HSR because I feel so protective of the Honkai cast T_T

i'm also autistic, sort of...medium to low support needs/i can mostly mask. if it helps, my special interests are my OCs, fantasy worldbuilding, lore and writing, and i'm into jrpgs as well.

i'm pretty small and have black fluffy hair, brown eyes and a pale complexion cuz i never see the sun lol.

i tend to wear sweaters and long hoodies as well as band t-shirts - i don't wear makeup a lot and no jewellery or chains due to sensory issues, but i really like black and purple, and dark eyeshadow, it's just fun haha.

i think i'm fairly intelligent, i tend to be more cautious and talk way less unless i like/think i can trust someone, when i'll act much more erratic and sorta ramble about random pretty things that catch my eye and let myself unmask a bit. i'm very open-minded, as well.

i think i prefer to be more...in control, in a relationship? like i'm unlikely to be submissive. i can sometimes be a handful in that i might switch between being sorta obsessed and disinterested quickly and get mood swings, or isolate myself for a while. i'm a bit childish, too, which can go either way.

Albedo is the best person to be around if you like snow. He’d love to spend time with you up on Dragonspine. Despite his claims that he likes solitude, he appreciates your company.

Despite him not feeling the cold, he also loves it when you snuggle up together when you visit him. With you next to him and a blanket around both your shoulders, there isn’t much more he could ask for.

I feel like in a modern au, he would enjoy learning about the lore of your worlds. He finds them an interesting insight into your mind and will ask questions that allow you to better develop your worlds.

Good at handling your mood swings. Albedo knows some good tips and tricks that will help you control them better yourself but he’s also reasonably patient when you do have them.

Doesn’t mind you taking the lead in your relationship. He’s pretty inexperienced with things like that so he’s happy to hand you the reigns while he’s learning.

Another one who loves snuggling up with you in cold weather. Some of his favourite moments with you are spent curled up with you, sharing a blanket, and reading or playing games.

Speaking of games, this guy is the best gaming buddy you could hope for. He’s really good at not dominating multiplayer games while still contributing.

Caelus, much like Albedo, is happy to let you take charge in your relationship. He’s a pretty laid back person so he’s happy with whatever as long as you’re both safe, happy, and healthy.

Because he’s so laid back, Caelus is easily able to ride the waves of your mood swings. He gets that emotions can be tough sometimes so he’s not going to criticise you or make you feel bad about something you have little control over.

Enjoys listening to you read poetry. If you’re comfortable with it, he would love to fall asleep listening to you read your favourite poems to him. He finds it relaxing.

I am 👀👀 at PGR, would you recommend? I play Genshin and Honkai Star Rail, so if it’s similar vibes and mechanics to them I’m in, just don’t wanna time sink into a game I won’t keep up with 😅

Understandable! I actually haven’t played this one first hand, but I hear its gameplay is much more similar to Hoyo’s other child Honkai Impact 3rd! c: I’m enjoying it so I personally would lean on recommending it but the gameplay has some differences compared to Genshin and Star Rail specifically so a lil bit on that- there’s the equip screen

Memories are kinda like your relics/artifacts, as in each give special set bonuses and stats- but only raise just specific stats and are less random in nature- and the one rng based thing about them can be manually changed with an item so that was infinitely less stressful and I’m having a WAY better time regarding that here LOL weapons also do have a best in slot but those have a player controlled rate up! Character dupes are also useful here but they cycle rate up and some have farmable shards so it’s not impossible either!

As for story and exploration, that’s also not the same here- you’re not actively running around all the time and set a character to be the one you see on home screen while story is selected through chapters and plays visual novel style (with some exceptions, it seems?). It’s main story isn’t fantasy-ish either, but rather more sci-fi in a post apocalyptic setting, pretty bleak though they do have some side story content that’s light hearted and fun! Onto battles, some maps give you some degree of roaming, like-

But ultimately it’s fast paced and fun for me! And most content stays doable aside from the ones specifically made to be a challenge. Auto clears are available for material stages too so grinding isn’t nightmarish! I know for some the charm is always exploring though, but that with the ever failing artifact hunting irreparably burned me out of Genshin (Star Rail’s auto mode is also GREATLY appreciated for that reason)… u_u

Oh, the dorm function is cute too, room decorating without getting too overwhelming (my teapot looks terrible LOL)

Lastly there’s occasional cute mini games added in event cycles, like a rhythm game running right now and besides being a former rhythm game enthusiast, looking at their lil SDs dancing around warms my heart 😆

My Short Review of Honkai: Star Rail after ~2 Weeks

Hi!! This is gonna be my first post here.

If you’re a gacha games observer, Genshin/HI3 player or general Mihoyo enjoyer you are most likely already know that they just released a new game, that is Honkai: Star Rail. I prereg this game and made my account on the first day, and this is my loose review about the game so far. Please note other gacha games I’m currently play daily are Fate/Grand Order and Genshin Impact. I also tried Arknights for some months so maybe there will be comparison to them.

Combat: 7.5/10

I don’t like turn-based system for the God’s sake (looking at you, FGO) but the way they have AUTO really escalated the rate for me. The turn-based here honestly more fun than I thought!

Art: 8/10

OK. As expected

Music: 8/10

What should I critic from Hoyo-Mix

Exploration: 7/10

Please keep in mind this isn’t an exploration-focused game like Genshin. It does, however has funni descriptions about items, reminds me of 2D exploration games (something like Undertale).

Story: 7/10

I’ll be honest I play this just as a ‘gacha addict’ outlet and don’t really pay attention to the story, but imo this one’s harder to digest than Genshin, maybe HI3 player can understand better though.

Characters: 7/10

Not very much attachment too, heheh;; Unlike Genshin where I was very attached to Venti after 3 seconds in the game. But the MC is a menace of society, real rate is THE RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN/10.

Also they have “chatrooms”!! This is very cool, because I think they can keep any character relevant with this.

P. S. They REALLY need to add more battle voicelines. You’ll go crazy listen to “the rules--” everytime you turn up the volume.

Worldbuilding: 7/10

I’m not much a fan of their worldbuilding concept tbh, I think “planet” as a chapter’s setting is too massive, so many aspects about it left unpolished (one nation/planet isn’t very believable to me). But maybe I just don’t understand well.

Grinding: 9/10

AUTO mode is gamechanger. You also can change a relic’s main stat once/patch. Honestly this is the one that can make me linger around longer in this game. GI and FGO both aren’t this forgiving in time spent on farming :’D

Also unlike Arknights, u don’t need three stars or something to start AUTO your way out.

Endgame: 9/10

NGL, this game has better endgame content than Genshin. A LOT. It has something called “Stimulation Universe”. I think it’s similar to Arknights’ Annihilation that reset every week and earn rewards based on points. So rejoice if you’re strategy games enjoyer and like to play around with character builds, this game is good for you.

Gacha: 5/10

Why even bother. Just go with your starter characters.

UI/UX: 7/10

Dear Mihoyo: SKIP and LOG button WHEN??!!

Overall enjoyment: 7.8/10

Yeah weird numbers, but this is my overall, subjective rate. This won’t be my main game but since they’re not as grindy as my other games I think I can keep up by just playing casually. The minimal amount of grind also helped in increasing enjoyment in the overall strategy gameplay.

Unlike when u play Arknights where you have to massively build so many characters with so limited items and pretty hard stages (even for farming for early player) or Genshin with their chaotic artifacts farming..or FGO with their horrendous amount of doing the same 3-turns farming manually. If I had to go through things like that again here, I’ll drop the game immediately.

End Note (if still want to read, or just skip, lol)

If Star Rail was published before Genshin I doubt I’ll ever try it. Back then the only gacha game that can keep me for so long was only FGO (Since 2017, dear God) because I was soooo invested with their story and characters despite I have a massive hatred with their gameplay (lol). 

I often got HI3 ads on Youtube and I thought their visual is cool. But the game itself never interest me, because the playable characters are like 99% waifu so no, I prefer to have pretty balanced amount of dudes and chicks. Then in late 2020 Genshin was released, and I’m like... this is the one... the one I’ve been waiting for!!!!

I may write other long essays about why I was drawn to Genshin very much. And I was right, it was the only game that can pull me out from my FGO exclusivity, and made me realize that HI3 was not just a mere “waifu” game, and they give faith for me about HSR that was still in the beta back then.

Tl;dr Honkai: Star Rail is good. Don’t worry.

I don’t really know what to blog about because nothing eventful is happening other than a headache

Curiously speaking, I still don’t understand how tumblr works or how to get activity on here. Though I could as much say that I’ve ran my luck when it comes to ventures I really want to go through. I don’t really bother much with it because my writing is mere madness. Yet I hope someone out there can understand at my madness and laugh at it.

It’s pretty hard to comprehend things when your mind is stuck focusing on surviving rather than living. I really find that living part difficult because you’re so used to trying so hard to survive that living is like relearning everything all over again. It’s relatively hard as well if you’re so used to expecting the worst out of everything that looking at yourself you realize you’re a hot mess. Like— hot in a bad way not hot as in “damn bish you look slay today” (or something along those lines) and more of “damn bish you live like this?”

Look, when you have a mental breakdown after mass while still in church (btw that breakdown is NOT related to anything church related. I just ended up breaking down all of a sudden mostly because I do not have a stable and/or healthy support system) shit really gets to you. I don’t know how but at one moment you’re happy and next thing you know your entire week is a living nightmare. Yet again I don’t know how to explain it but best I could say is that my fingers are peeling and I am suffering intense hair loss despite not being in my 80s. Next thing you know your entire body hormones start being lil shits and then you realize how you hate being unwillingly subscribed to a natural biological occurrence that literally is another equivalence to flawed biological engineering made by G O D. None of this is delightful and I’d rather not be waking up to another fucking headache.

Huh…my fingers peeling has gotten worse. Lol I just looked at the situation of one of my thumbs and it looks like it’s screaming in horror. Me too, buddy, me too. I won’t lie, my fingers have never peeled this bad until the final semester of year 1. I mean— this…oddity has happened before but then it stopped for a couple of years and then came back to torment the hell out of me now. Maybe it’s dehydration but gods only know because those past few years I was not a hydrated plant at all.

I’ve also managed to finish my first zine so that’s that. I’ll probably make more zines in the future because they’re p fun to make. Though there’s one zine I’m making that I’m putting a lot of effort into because it involves birds and I can’t afford to fuck that one up. I’m not entirely sure if I can sell the photos I took of em considering I’m an amateur bird photographer, but maybe drawing them instead would be better because I really find the lil guys interesting.

Huh…would you look at that? Another idea for me to write. Is it definitely heavily referencing Honkai: Star Rail’s Sunday? Very much so because the lil shit grew on to me as a call out. Except I’m spiraling down into my own insanity and struggling to fly after being caged for so long.
