'If you be thirsty, fleshthing, drink of me,' is so fun, like the speech is so good, but this feels like if you bite it, it's squishy, and that's delightful!
#and gross!#If you be hungry then feed for I am the honeymaker and the jacksberry! >> also a good one#people love to do fake catholicism but they forget that the cannibalism discourse is essential for it#it's one of the best parts!

From Flower to Jar: The Amazing Process of Honey Making by Bees
On a warm spring day, as flowers burst into bloom, bees buzz from flower to flower, their tiny bodies a blur of activity. They're not just creating a beautiful scene; they're busy collecting nectar, the raw material for honey. Honey, nature's sweet gift, is packed with nutrients and flavor. But how do bees turn nectar into the sweet, golden honey we love? Let's take a peek into the bees' world and uncover the magic of honey making. Nectar Collection: It all starts with the worker bees, the female bees that are the hive's foragers. Armed with a long, straw-like tongue called a proboscis, they suck nectar from flowers. A single bee might visit hundreds of flowers on a single trip. Nectar, a sugary liquid, is the flower's way of attracting pollinators. It's mostly water and sucrose, with a dash of other sugars, amino acids, and minerals. Ingestion and Transformation: Once a bee's honey stomach (or crop) is fullup to 70mg of nectar—it heads back to the hive. On the way, an enzyme called invertase gets to work in the bee's stomach, breaking down the sucrose into simpler sugars like glucose and fructose. Regurgitation and Evaporation: Back home, the worker bee regurgitates the nectar into the mouth of a house bee. The house bee then spreads the nectar in thin layers inside the honeycomb cells. By fanning their wings, the bees create a breeze that helps evaporate the water. Nectar starts with about 70-80% water, but the bees reduce it to 18-20% through this process. Ripening and Sealing: As the water evaporates and the sugar concentration rises, the honey thickens. The bees keep adding enzymes, enhancing the honey's flavor and chemistry. Once it's just right, they seal the honeycomb cells with a wax cap, made by special glands on their bodies. This sealed honey is stored as food for the colony, especially for the cold winter months when flowers are scarce. Building In a Stingless Hive
Honeybees, with their stingers, get lots of attention, but the Americas have plenty of stinger-less honeymakers, too. These stingless bees are native to Mexico, where beekeepers cultivate them for pollination. (Video and image credit: Deep Look) Read the full article

Between Barry and that jock guy, who would Davy Jones want the human woman to stay with
i think he was so wrapped up in the legal implications of the bees suing honeymakers trial that he wasn't even thinking about the love story at all...like he had to know all the ins and outs and maccus is just sitting there going "captain, if I were a bee would you still love me" and jones doesn't answer

So in Fashion Club, you have Marinette and Felix's power's figured out, and you have a rough idea for Alina's power. But do you have any finalized ideas for Flora's powers? (I know Rena Roux and Bumblebee don't play a huge role in Fashion Club, but my favorite things in the miraculous fandom are the ideas for powers)
Hmm. I image her weapon being a tambourine for some reason... a scythe (a farmer's tool) would be a cool way to go, too. But a stiletto dagger is a good, easily readable stinger-like weapon. that, or a rapier. (cool sword go bzzz)
Bees are very into cooperation and working as a team, so she's largely a support player. Pretty useless on her own, but can ramp someone else up. (example... LB vs Chat is a 1-1. LB vs BB, is a 1-0.5. But LB vs Chat & Bumblebee is a 1-2.5)
uhh i've played around with ideas based on Bee-haviors, like Tanzsprache/Dance Language and typical bee-bilities like honeymaking and wax production.
Playing on casino/super lady luck themes.. something something extended wild.. scatters... Maybe the ability to pull special pollens from a pouch to induce things like frenzies or sleepies.
LB = Artificer / Chat = Wizard / RR = Ranger / BB = Bard
I think it would be fun if Flora had been a wishmaker before Marinette & Felix- except she never bothered to utilize her Faerie in the same way because she's just vibing.

bees are very territorial when it comes to their hive and queen, if the beekeeper sucks they're not reaching in there to get Thousand Sting Attacked (and lose all their honeymaking bees)
i'm not a beekeeping expert but uh. pretty sure we've changed a lot of things, including apiary and general livestock practice, since 185-fluffing-9
Wild that folks keep saying beekeepers abuse bees as if bees are not both venomous flying animals and fully unionized

Beekeeping season is starting up again, now that the rain is starting to subside. While I would have opted for warmth over rain for weeks now, I have to acknowledge that the rain was necessary, and nature's timing could have been worse if it had listened to my personal wished. We have already checked on the hives once this year and will do so again this weekend. Current count it 2 from 11 hives lost over the winter, which is a lot better than it was last year! #beekeeping #beekeeper #beeHouse #HoneyMaking #Maker #MakerMovement #MakersOfInstagram #MakersGonnaMake #MakerCommunity #BeInspiredWithDominic Join me on Discord - Link in bio! — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/SgPZQM9

Y'know, I used to have an irrational fear of bees. Their buzzing scared me as a kid, and the fact that their curiosity makes them buzz RIGHT UP to the TIP OF YOUR NOSE scared the gas outta me.
But as I grew older, I started to feel a bond with those cute little shaggy honeymakers. Their loyalty to the hive and not the hive-keeper (that's right, bees will abandon a hive if the beekeeper's not good!), and their ecological importance around the world, began to wean me off my fear.
The biggest change, though, came during the first summer I worked with my city's Mosquito Control division. I had been doing a bit of research on the chemical they used (note the past tense!!) at dusk when "fogging," or spraying a fine mist of an insecticide/water mixture from a vehicle, and I learned that there was an internal initiative to change to a more environmentally friendly alternative. However, despite it being cheaper (and all around better), they were stuck on how it would affect the local ecology.
So, being the fresh-faced Mosquito Control maintenance worker I was, I brought it up during the next city council meeting, and explained why the new chemical would be better - by mentioning that it was better for the local (protected) bee population. I had thought that my comments fell on deaf ears, as they didn't even push the issue. But, as I found out a few years after I had quit and moved on, they changed the fogging chemical to the one I spoke about. All this was back between 2016 to 2018.
Now, fast forward to November 2022. A small ecological survey prepped by a local college to study the affect of the COVID Quarantine on my areas' local wildlife had just concluded. Data supported that, of course, less human interaction = larger population. However, a small paragraph stuck out to me, and I'll paraphrase it below.
One of the larger rises in population, unsurprisingly, was in our local apidae family, or in layman's terms, our honey bees. Since the disruption of normal activities began in March 2020, the bee population in [the city I live] has doubled, if not tripled, in size.
It went on to mention the possible causes, like an increase in amateur beekeeping and such, but there was one cause listed that made my heart sing: "The 2018 change in fogging chemicals used by [my city's] Public Works Mosquito Control continued to have a positive influence on local bee populations."
Knowledge is power, and power can bring about great changes. Learn about the bees in your local area. Tell people about them. Tell kids about them. We all benefit from bees, so let's help them back.
Okay, entomology brain is annoyed by a Tumblr ad
Specifically, this one. First, Albert Einstein never said that.
Secondly, and more importantly, that is NOT a honey bee, or even a bee at all. That is a bee fly, a very important, very cute pollinator. However! They have parasitoid larvae! This means that they lay their eggs in the larvae of other bugs. Those eggs hatch, and those larvae eat the bug they’re in from the inside out. Sounds horrible, but it’s the way of things and I cannot understate how important these guys are.
The reason I’m annoyed about the picture of choice isn’t even that they didn’t picture a bee (not even in the right order- bees are hymenopterans. Flies are diptera.) What’s really grinding my absolute gears about the choice here? Bee flies parasitize bee larva.
If you’re going to use the wrong picture, at least don’t use the picture of something that actively kills what you’re trying to protect instead of the animal you’re protecting.
Also, honeybees, Apis mellifera, don’t need protection. They’re fine. They’re invasive in North America, even. Humans take care of them just fine. I’m a beekeeper, and I love them, but that’s not where our efforts should be. We should be trying to protect native bees, there are a whole bunch that I bet you’ve never heard of that need help.
Anyway, rant over. Sorry, I just could not let that one go.

Honeymaker Lavender Mead
This is great! It has an almost meaty under-taste. Not literally meat, but rather an unexpected heftiness and body. There is the tiniest hint of spice, but its specifically from the spice of lavender. The meat element is also more the lavender as well. It's such a subtle flavor but it's strong and so wonderfully pleasant. The sweetness of the honey blends with the lavender in a way like mist in the mountains. A tiny bit fruity, but more a flowery kind of sweetness, which makes sense for the honey and lavender element. Airy and gentle of a smokey flavor, but not the campfire smoke. I’m losing track now as I’m letting my mind wander further and further down miles of metaphors. Ultimately I can boil it down to a 5/5
