Do you know of any fics wherein there's a courtroom scene in it? thank you very much.
Hey Lovely!
Ahhh, these are the ones that immediately come to mind.... I know I’ve missed some, so please add some if you have any, gang! <3 Please note, anything in the MFL section of this list was added because it showed up with keywords I searched for in the doc, and I don’t know if they all have court scenes, LOL. SORRY in advance if they don’t! <3
COURTROOM SCENES
The Trial of Sherlock Holmes by jenna221b (G, 3,015 w. across 3 works || TAB!lock, Metafic / TJLC, Victorian AU / 1895, Christmas, Sherlock’s Mind Palace, Oscar Wilde) – Scripts based on speculation that Sherlock will be put on trial in The Abominable Bride to parallel the Oscar Wilde Trials of 1895.
five times sherlock holmes lied to john watson (and one time he finally told the truth) by miss_frankenstein (G, 5,948 w., 1 Ch. || TAB Compliant || Homophobia, Pining Sherlock, Oscar Wilde Trials, Happy Ending) – Set in "The Abominable Bride" universe, this piece adopts a familiar format to chronicle Sherlock's quiet suffering in the wake of the 1895 Oscar Wilde trials and the particular way they affect his relationship with (and feelings for) John.
The Thin Line by Odamaki (M, 10,809 w., 1 Ch. || Virgin Sherlock, Awkwardness, Confessions, First Times, Anal, Idiots in Love, Hand Jobs, Gentle Kissing) – John swallows. Keeps his eyes on Sherlock. Begs him not to ruin him.Sherlock leans forward over the witness box ever-so slightly, "I was distracted," he informs the court, "by my partner, John Watson.”
To Mend Icarus by AlessNox (T, 28,347 w., 14 Ch. || Post-TRF / Pre-S3 Divergence, BAMF John, Anger, Fighting, Sex, Bed Sharing, Stalking, Case Fic, John’s Past, Introspection, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Crime, Mythology, Darkness) – After a case lands John Watson in court, he tells Sherlock that he is leaving. Not understanding why, Sherlock decides that the only way to learn the truth is to investigate his flatmate, Dr. John Watson. Sherlock finds that coming back is not enough to fix all of the damage that he caused by leaving. A post Reichenbach, post reunion re-discovery fic.
Set in Stone by SilentAuror (E, 39,309 w., 1 Ch. || Romance, Wedding, Therapy, Fluff and Angst) – Sherlock and John are back from Ravine Valley and planning their wedding. However, as they move past the trial of the human traffickers, Sherlock can't help but wonder if he's imagining that John is becoming a little distant. Surely he isn't getting cold feet about the wedding... Part 2 of The Ravine Valley series
Sentenced by SarahKnight (T, 44,777 w., 30 Ch. || Dev. Rel., Alternate S4 Canon, Drama, Angst, Pining, Feelings are Hard) – Virtual series 4 opener. Sherlock's in prison being targeted by a murderer, John's married to a pregnant assassin and Moriarty's back.
MARKED FOR LATER
Do You Get the Gist of the Song Now? by Riffir (E, 3,642 w., 1 Ch. || Dom / Sub AU || Masturbation, Caning, Riding Crop, Mouth Soaping) – Inspired by the courtroom scene in Season 2 Episode 3 (as was obviously some of the dialogue that I blatantly ripped off), SubSherlock refuses to play nice in the courtroom and is sentenced to judicial caning. As well as John's censure later on.
It Yet Remains to See by 4getwhatisaid (T, 11,000 w., 4 Ch. || High School / Teenlock AU || Rape/Non-Con, Angst, Fluff, Implied/Referenced Self-Harm, Implied/Referenced Suicidal Thoughts, Brief Mentions of Self-Starvation, Past Sexual Abuse, Caring John, Naked Cuddling, Happy Ending) – Teenage Sherlock and John deal with the aftermath of their encounter with Moriarty, but more troubles arise when Sherlock becomes involved in the villain's court case. Part 2 of the All We Need of Hell series
Dehumanise Me by deuxexmycroft (E, 26,898 w., 6 Ch. || Prison AU || Rape / Non-Con, Graphic Violence, Abuse, Dom/Sub Elements) – John is sent down for life after accidentally murdering someone, and gets snatched up to play prison wife for a strange man named Sherlock Holmes.
Orange is the new sexy by Sardonicpineapple (E, 42,217 w., 31 Ch. || Prison AU || Top John, Correctional Officer John, Prisoner Sherlock, Sub Sherlock, Dom John, Crying During Sex, Oral / Anal, Fingering, Age Gap, Power Play, Angst & Fluff, Power Dynamics) – 19 year old Sherlock Holmes is sentenced to 13 months in prison. Bullied, bored and lonely, Sherlock can’t believe his luck when a young, sexy, former soldier comes to work as a correctional officer.
Homo homini by Madoshi & Serinah (M, 43,826 w., 4 Ch. || Slavery AU || Domestic Violence Mentions, Depictions of Violeence, Psychological Trauma, Mentions of Torture and Brainwashing, Stockholm Syndrome, Enslavement, Interrogating Under Influence and With Prejudice) – In a world where people are divided into masters and slaves, Sherlock Holmes is sentenced to slavery. For life. He is then purchased for personal use by his best friend John Watson. Now, they have to live with it. And solve crimes. Including the one that landed Sherlock before the court of justice.
Do No Harm by Calais_Reno (T, 79,203 w., 16 Ch. || 1920′s AU || Murder Mystery, Flappers, Drugs, Developing Relationship, Period-Typical Homophobia, POV Sherlock, Trials, Prison) – In 1923, Dr John Watson is on trial for the murder of his lover, Mary Morstan, a writer of popular mysteries. If convicted, he will hang. Sherlock Holmes sets out to prove his innocence, but finds himself more and more infatuated with the handsome doctor, and deeper and deeper inside the bohemian world of London's painters, playwrights, and poets. Will he uncover the evidence needed to acquit him in time?
An Innocent Man by Fangs_Fawn (T, 183,970 w., 42 Ch. || S3 Fix It, PTSD, Angst, Mystery, Drama, Violence, Friendship, Hurt/Comfort, Friendship, Redemption, Forgiveness, Prison, No Slash) – "And what about John Watson?" Sherlock had asked. He had expected a rather dull answer...after all, he had been away. He had not expected to hear that John had spent the past two years in prison.
All the Best and Brightest Creatures by wordstrings (E, 188,426 w., 33 Ch. || Case Fic, Action/Adventure, POV First Person, Alternate Canon, Romance, Hurt / Comfort, Love at First Sight, Asexuality, Kidnapping, Torture, Drug Use/Addiction) – Sherlock sent Jim Moriarty to prison for killing Carl Powers at age ten. This is the story of the consequences.

Are there fics where in Harry (John's sister) is among the main characters?
Reply: Certainly, although knowing me, the main focus is still on Sherlock and John but Harry has a significant role in these:
A Study in Spherification by mistyzeo (58K, E, Johnlock) John Watson has been out of work for eighteen months after his last restaurant, Fifth Northumberland, burned to the ground in a kitchen accident. He's more than ready for a new project, but who wants to open a restaurant with a washed up celebrity chef who can't even hold a knife anymore?
Attribute Nothing to Fate by recreational (37K, E, Johnlock) A journey to Italy calls up old desires, but John Watson, trapped by the social conventions of his time, is not prepared to give in to temptation and change his life forever. It takes someone else to do that for him. A homage to E.M. Forster’s ‘A Room with a View’.
Classified(s) by blueink3 (36K, E, Johnlock, Harry/Clara) Clara's American father is the ambassador to some such territory that Great Britain probably used to own, but she (and Harry’s undying love for her) is the reason John is getting on a flight at 12:30pm, flying across the second largest ocean in the world, and pretending to be in a perfectly happy, healthy relationship with an undoubtedly perfectly coiffed stranger.
Cracks in the Wall by [orphaned] (83K, E, Johnlock) After losing his mother to illness, John's family must figure out how to move on with life. John finds comfort in a place he never expected.
Fearful Symmetry by irisbleufic (22K, E, Johnlock, Harry/Clara) Sherlock turned again, staring, eyebrows high enough to hit the ceiling. "Given the choice, why on earth would you spend your birthday with your sister?" John took another sip of tea. "Because it's her birthday, too."
Four Funerals and a Wedding by Susan (12K, E, Johnlock, Harry/OFC) The story of John and Sherlock or Nothing worth having is ever easy.
God help me, I do by PlainJane (90K, E, Johnlock, Mollstrade) A consulting detective, two doctors, a forensic pathologist, a DI, a senior citizen, a recovering alcoholic and the British government walk into a register office... Cases, chuckles, angst and lots of good loving on the journey to one very unconventional wedding day.
How I Impregnated Your Mother by Mildredandbobbin (50K, E, Johnlock, Harry/Clara, Mollstrade) Sherlock and John are together and things are good, great even...except...Sherlock's in a one sided competition with John's dead wife, John hasn't proposed yet, and now Harry and Clara want Sherlock and John to father their children.
Hushabye Mountain by blueink3 (15K, T, Johnlock, Harry/Clara) Harry and Clara welcome a new addition to the family. Or, the story of Lucy Watson-Collins' birth and how Uncle John nearly murdered Uncle Sherlock in the middle of Lenox Hill Hospital's maternity ward.
John Watson and the Three Spirits (aka A Ghost Story of Christmas) by PipMer (18K, T, Johnlock, Mollstrade, Harry/Clara) John hadn’t planned on becoming a grumpy old man. Well, he wasn’t old quite yet. But he wasn’t getting any younger, and as he thought back on his life so far this Christmas Eve, he was coming up with a lot of regrets.
May Your Heart Purr Like a Bumblebee by destinationtoast (14K, M, Johnlock) In which Harry is the biggest John/Sherlock shipper: Harry Watson is back from rehab and temporarily staying with John and Sherlock. She and John warily begin to rebuild their friendship, and then she makes some observations about her little brother and his flatmate which throw John entirely off balance.
Mise en Place by azriona (161K, M, Johnlock) John Watson had no intentions of taking over the family business, but when he returns from Afghanistan, battered and bruised, and discovers that his sister Harry has run their restaurant into the ground, he doesn't have much choice. There's only one thing that can save the Empire from closing for good – the celebrity star of the BBC series Restaurant Reconstructed, Chef Sherlock Holmes.
(More Than) Flesh and Bones series by Jezunya (127K, M, Johnlock, Harry/OFC) A post-Reichenbach, zombie apocalypse, Johnlock story told in three parts.
Pater Noster by SilentAuror (34K, E, Johnlock) During the autumn that John is staying at Baker Street again after Sherlock was shot, he ruminates over the similarity between Sherlock's shot and the one that killed his father when he was fifteen. Cold case meets series 3 fix-it.
Performance In a Leading Role by Mad_Lori (156K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock Holmes is an Oscar winner in the midst of a career slump. John Watson is an Everyman actor trapped in the rom-com ghetto. When they are cast as a gay couple in a new independent drama, will they surprise each other? Will their on-screen romance make its way into the real world? (Also its sequel, Lifetime Achievement.)
The Case of the Fleeing Frenchman by PenelopeWaits (26K, E, Johnlock) Captain James Watson and his son John have been protecting each other and their beloved Harriet for years. Where will true safety reside when a handsome sailing ship and her haunted captain arrive and he makes a shadowy proposal?
The Case of the Meddling Siblings by destinationtoast (36K, M, Johnlock) Mycroft and Harry Watson team up to send John and Sherlock on a case to distract a Sherlock who’s been pining after John. And Harry, at least, is determined to get the boys together. Two sets of Holmes & Watson shenanigans ensue. (post-S2 AU)
The family you choose yourself by Zaeris (60K, M, Johnlock, Harry/Clara) Sherlock has come back and John finds himself unexpectedly forced into the role of father while he struggles to make sense of his feelings about his eccentric flatmate and his plans for the future. Luckily he's got some well-meaning friends to help him along the way.
The Heart in Him by azriona (44K, M, Johnlock, Harry/Clara) Three years after Sherlock fakes his death, he receives a text from Mycroft telling him it is time to come home. But the text doesn’t give the whole story. Not by half.
The Horse and his Doctor by khorazir (128K, T, Johnlock, Harry/Clara) Invalided after a run in with a poacher in Siberia, veterinary surgeon John Watson finds it difficult to acclimatise to the mundanity of London life. Things change when a friend invites him along to a local animal shelter and he meets their latest acquisition, a trouble-making Frisian with the strangest eyes and even stranger quirks John has ever encountered in a horse.
The Measure of a Gentleman by i_ship_an_armada (67K, E, Johnlock, Mollstrade) It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a partner. Less universally acknowledged is that a single man in possession of very little in the way of fortune may be in want of a partner as well, but John Watson had little time or energy to devote to his own wants or needs... Enter one Mr Holmes...
The Song Nobody Knows by Laur (78K, E, Johnlock) If Sherlock could take John Watson back to his cave, he would keep him alive as long as possible. He would collect rain water and sea weed and fish to feed him, and he would keep him warm with his soft feathers. In return John Watson would answer all of Sherlock’s questions. Yes, Sherlock would keep him, his own little mystery to unravel. Eventually, though, the human would die, as they always did, and Sherlock would have to eat him, like he always did. This was much more interesting.
Wild About Harry collection by PlaidAdder (397K, T, Johnlock, various others) This started as a post-Reichenbach fic and turned into a series in which Harry Watson is a repeating character. John and Sherlock get together in the first story ("Empty Houses") and thereafter it's either developing relationship or established relationship. Most of this is casefic and long, but there are a few shorter ones. [This is actually two separate series. You don’t need to read all of the stories in order.]

Is ACD cannon Watson poor? because he is a doctor and I know that the first law to insure that kids are going school is pass in 1870's. I am just wondering....
Reply: I’m sure that others can answer who are more knowledgeable that I am, but here are my thoughts:
1. We don’t know precisely what circumstances Watson grew up in, but when he meets Holmes, he is poor. He does not have enough money to pay for lodging on his own, and the only item of value that he owns is a pocketwatch which he has inherited. He is also said to have a gambling problem and not be good with managing money.
2. Watson was the second son, which meant that his elder brother inherited the entire family fortune according to the laws of the time. His biography also fits with the standard of the era, in which the eldest brother would be expected to manage the family’s assets (business, estate, what have you) while any younger brothers would have a career in the military, church, or government service. We further know that the brother, Harry, lost or squandered all of the money and then died, leaving Watson with nothing but the watch.
3. Watson attended the University of Edinburgh and then furthered his studies at St. Bart’s in London. Honestly I don’t know how one gained entry to a university or much it cost to gain a higher education back then, but I could imagine that either his father paid for his education before he died, or that he had a friendly sponsor. We should also realize that being a doctor back then was not necessarily a very prestigious or high-paying profession, and it may not have been that large an investment like it is these days to attend medical school.

Two Memes <3
I was tagged by @honeybeemotorcycles for these:
Get To Know You Meme
Three Ships: John/Sherlock; House/Wilson; McKay/Sheppard (some day I might write the fic where all six of them get it on*)
Last Song: Cannonball by Breeders
Last Movie: Crip Camp
Currently Reading: The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande
Currently Watching: You’re the Worst
Currently Consuming: Too much fast food
Currently Craving: Something new from RSL. A play, a TV guest spot, an interview, a TikTok video, I don’t care!!!
post seven sentences from your current wip
(from a future chapter of “The Personal Private Blog of Dr. John H. Watson”; this is actually eight sentences; please forgive me)
Sherlock cuts him off with a non-sequitur: “John, are you in the habit of shopping for first editions of 19th century American poets?”
“What? No.”
“And yet, when you ran across that Whitman, you texted me immediately. This is the same thing. A rare find fell at my feet, so do me the courtesy of not dismissing this out of hand. Wait. Does that count as mixing metaphors?”

No pressure to do if you don’t want to; just saying hi! <3
*A continuation of the “Out of the Blue” ‘verse. John Sheppard & Rodney McKay are on their honeymoon in Toronto, which is being spent with House & Wilson because of course it is. John wants to give Rodney a special wedding present, so he and Wilson go out to try to pick up a blond woman to have a fivesome with them. Sherlock, in Toronto with John Watson on a relatively boring but lucrative case, notices Wilson & John S. and convinces them to invite him to the fivesome instead. Sherlock makes up an excuse to leave John “I’m not gay Watson at their hotel, and finds the house being rented for the honeymoon. But John, convinced Sherlock is trying to work on the case alone, has followed him because he’s damned if he’s going to let Sherlock dive into danger (to say nothing of excitement) by himself. So, what do two gay men, three bi men, and one “not gay” man get up to that evening? I dunno yet. So far, House and gay John are playing Xbox as Rodney comments loudly on the unrealistic physics of the game, while Wilson/James and Sherlock are talking in the other room as not-gay John eyes everyone suspiciously. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why should an assassin (Mary) with an assumed identity keep documented records of her past and carry them around with her, when it seems it is paramount for her safety that said past remains secret? This doesn't make sense. I asked a friend from the fandom this earlier today, I just want to run it by you. Thank you very much.

Hey Lovely!
Sorry for missing this one. I've apparently missed a tonne of quick asks LOL <3
Ah, your answer is probably as good as mine, Lovely. It makes no fucking sense, which is why I don't buy AT ALL that the AGRA stick had anything on it at all. Mary genuinely believes John is stupid, AND she thinks she knows John better than anyone else, so I would assume she thought for sure he wouldn't check the stick. But then that doesn't explain T6T at all. It's SO SO stupid. There's no NARRATIVELY LOGICAL sense that she (or any of AGRA) would carry around something with all their personal info from their past lives on it, so like... I personally thought it was going to be a one off thing, not a whole fucking episode that made no sense. It's silly.
Anyway. Yeah, I feel like they just wanted to make Mary "A Big Character™" to replace John and Sherlock in their own show, and had no idea how to do it.

There's a fic where the writer wrote a an original modern ACD story, do you know of any? *not BBC*
Reply: That sounds like this one:
A Study in Scarlet by tiger-in-the-flightdeck (49K, E, Johnlock, Watson/Others) An indiscreet photograph ends up online, forcing Watson to postpone his pursuit of a medical degree. Turning to the life of a soldier, he takes a bullet through the shoulder and is sent home to London a lost and broken man. Friendless and facing homelessness, he is introduced to an eager young man in the chemical labs at Bart's Hospital. As a friendship begins to form between them, a murder investigation pulls Watson into Holmes' world. Between crime scenes, a killer with an eye on revenge, and frustrating police officers, their friendship grows into something neither of them had expected.

What time of the year Mary shot Sherlock, approximately? I didn't watch season 3, its too painful. The show should be Johnlock, and only Johnlock, lol.
Reply: I’m working from @obotligtnyfiken‘s awesome BBC Sherlock timeline graphic and @arianedevere’s transcript of His Last Vow, which tell us that:
1. HLV begins 1 month after the wedding.
2. The break-in to Magnussen’s office occurs on the night of the same day when John found Sherlock in the drug den. In other words, also 1 month after the wedding.
3. The wedding was on May 18th according to the on-screen shot of the invitation from The Sign of Three (source: @arianedevere’s transcript).
Conclusion: Sherlock was shot in the middle to end of June. :)

Are there any Sherlock in therapy fics? Thank you!!!
Hey Lovely!
Ahhhhhh hmm. I don’t recall any other than the ones in my “couple for a case” where they go to couples’ counselling, or the ones where Sherlock goes to rehab... I don’t think those are what you’re looking for, though :/ Hmm. Can I offer you these lists?
Mental Health Related
Post S4 and Mental Health
Rehab/Mental Hospital AU (COMMUNITY RECS)
Otherwise, if anyone has any to offer, please do! I know I’ve read some, but it’s never been the focal point of fics other than in “couple for a case” fics. I can give you those ones if you want, just let me know <3

Any PTSD Sherlock fics? Thank you as always.
Reply: Yes, definitely! First off, here are some older, related lists:
PTSD John
John discovers Sherlock’s scars + Part 2
Sherlock Whump
PTSD tag
And from that tag, here are the ones where Sherlock is the sufferer:
PTSD Sherlock
A River Without Banks by Chryse (203K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) "You love this, being Sherlock Holmes." He had once. When had it all gone so wrong?
All the Best and Brightest Creatures by wordstrings (188K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock sent Jim Moriarty to prison for killing Carl Powers at age ten. This is the story of the consequences.
Andante by uraneia (12K, T, Johnlock) Three months afterward, a stranger appears at 221B. (AKA: The one where Sherlock shows up on John’s doorstep with serious injuries and amnesia, and John thinks he’s a homeless man seeking medical attention.)
Command Structure by 221b_hound (49K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock Holmes returns from his hunt to destroy Moriarty's network. He has returned fractured and suffering anxiety attacks. He thinks he needs discipline - the whip - to help him focus and be strong. But his problems are deeper and run back to a childhood of neglect.
Hounds by quietasasleepingarmy (21K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock enlists John's help with a case that falls far beyond his area of expertise. Post-HLV.
I'll Follow You Into the Dark by fearfully_beautifully_made (19K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock's got quite an imagination, he always has. As a child, he had very vivid dreams; they come back with a vengeance after all that has happened in the past few years. Luckily for him, his best friend moved back in and has some experience with PTSD and nightmares. He seems more than willing to lend a helping hand.
Johnlock Advent 2018 by sussexbound (47K, E, Johnlock) Starting today (the 1st of December) and all the way up to the 25th, the chapter of a fic and accompanying drawing will be posted here (and on my tumblr). It’s so great, and we are all very excited.
Lunar Landscapes by J_Baillier (57K, M, Johnlock) An accident forces John to face the fact that Sherlock's downward spiral had started long before his flight to exile even left the tarmac.
(Never) Turn Your Back to the Sea by DiscordantWords (39K, M, Johnlock) Baker Street is very much the same. Only different. And Sherlock is just trying not to drown.
Not Broken, Just Bent by Schmiezi (87K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) Fix-it for S3, starting at the end of TSoT. Written from Sherlock's POV.
Not the Fall that Kills You by Ranowa (39K, M, Johnlock) Sherlock's been falling ever since he stepped off Bart's roof two years ago. Now, he's back home, but as it turns out, he's still not ready to land. (Part of a longer series but can be read alone.)
Not the King’s Men by StoneWingedAngel (56K, T, Johnlock) John finds Sherlock three years after he thought he'd buried him, scared and injured; broken to such an extent he can barely recognise those trying to help him. Battling against too many unanswered questions and his own feelings, John sets out to put him back together, but never stops to consider Sherlock's return may be part of a greater punishment in store for the both of them. (Note: This fic has been deleted, the link goes to the Wayback Archive. Download and save, as it may disappear at any time.)
On the Rack by 7PercentSolution, J_Baillier (286K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock goes to rehab (of the other sort), starts scraping his life back together, attempts to solve a case, and tries to make sense of what it actually means to be in a relationship.
Sharp Bits and Safe Paths by midgetnazgul (22K, E, Johnlock) John learns Sherlock sacrificed much more than he ever could have believed in his time away.
Sherlock, P.I. by Callie4180 (83K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) Sherlock, P.I. is an American television show that follows the exciting adventures of genius private investigator Sherlock Homes and his friends as they live their lives on the beautiful island of Oahu in Hawaii. Sherlock solves crimes as he wrestles with the ghosts and demons of his past.
That Obscure Object by emmadelosnardos (23K, T, Johnlock) Danger was a green pool in an inner courtyard, the wet slide of skin against skin, the risk of being caught. Danger was a needle under the floorboards, opium in the toe of a slipper, the subterfuge of his habit. Danger was a shabby cabbie, even odds, an aneurysm.
The Broken Tether by J_Baillier (54K, M, Johnlock) Maybe he thinks that you only enjoy his company because of the Work, because of the way his dazzling intellect shines when he's in his element, but the truth is this: it is when he is at his most human, most bare, that you feel closest to him.
The Fabric of Life - orphaned (156K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) The fabric of life rearranges itself around the re-emergence of Sherlock.
The Ground Beneath Your Feet by Chryse (68K, E, Johnlock) Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure.
The Holiday by Scriblit (18K, M, Gen) A month following an horrific, sadistic attack during a case, Sherlock is still physically incapacitated and emotionally damaged. A holiday is suggested, but even stuck out in the middle of nowhere, he and John happen upon a case that could make Sherlock begin to feel like his old self again - or could kill him.
The Silence After by wendymarlowe (25K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock may have physically survived his abduction, but in his mind he'll never be whole again. John understands PTSD, understands what Sherlock is going through, and is determined to be patient. Angst, hurt/comfort, and eventual Johnlock as Sherlock tries to rebuild his ability to trust.
The Victim Experience by J_Baillier (16K, T, Gen) A case takes Sherlock and John deep into the seedy underbelly of the haunted attractions industry. With audiences craving more and more intense experiences, is a real murder the next logical step?
Truth May Vary by amalnahurriyeh (93K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) Seven years after Sherlock's death, John's life is normal. And then it isn't.
Underground Rescue by khorazir (48K, M, Johnlock) All kinds of danger lurk in the disused stations of the London Underground. When Sherlock goes missing, John has to play detective to find him, while Sherlock faces demons both present and past.
White Tulip by withoutawish (40K, E, Johnlock and Warstan) Sherlock is in love with John Watson. John Watson is in love with Mary Morstan. Sherlock likes Mary Morstan just fine. Sherlock likes drugs more. And most importantly, Sherlock doesn’t like Sherlock.
You Go to My Head series by J_Baillier (865K, T to E, Johnlock) This series is an alternate universe one, featuring the exciting medical and romantic adventures of doctors Watson (senior neuroanaesthetist) and Holmes (neurosurgeon). (Several of the installments deal with PTSD in some form or other.)
Your Perfect Offering by CaitlinFairchild (44K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock rolls away and sits up on the edge of the bed, his back to John.“A great many things happened in Serbia,” he says, flat and remote. “None of them were pleasant.”

Hi, love, thank you for the bilingual stuff, it's illuminating. I just want to ask a question about writing endings? I feel I suck at them. I love writing beginnings and middles but endings, no way, I am actually stuck at the end of my fic right now, as in the very last scene. I don't have writers block, I planned my stories, but I have no motivation to finish the fic, I just don't like the journey to end, that's what it feels like subconsciously, while consciously its a different story, LOL.
You’re not alone in that. It’s fun to play around with the characters and put them through various scenarios, but it’s not so fun to say good-bye to them.
At the same time, it’s a good feeling to complete something, at least for me. And you will get the dopamine from reader feedback when you post the completed project.
As to motivating yourself to actually push through and finish, here are some suggestions of things that have helped me:
1) Don’t post anything until the fic is complete. This delays your gratification until the moment of posting, so you have a bigger motivator to get to that point.
2) Give yourself a reward for completing the fic. Motivators I use for myself on tasks that I struggle to complete include food (a piece of chocolate or a handful of chips), screen time (I get to watch another episode of a series I’m following), sleep* (I don’t let myself go to bed until I’ve completed the task), or reading time. You will know better what triggers positive responses in your brain to give yourself something to work toward.
3) Tie your product to an external commitment, such as a fanwork exchange, school assignment, or a birthday gift for a friend. The externally imposed deadline may help to push you to finish.
At the same time, you don’t want to turn writing into a chore or something you dread. If you find yourself really rebelling against the enforced deadline or becoming agitated when you deny yourself something in favor of writing, then it’s time to reassess. In the end, writing fics should be a fun hobby and not something that you make yourself unhappy over.
* I feel like I need to qualify the sleep one. I’m obviously not forcing myself to stay up until 3 in the morning grading papers. For one thing, I can’t really focus after about 10pm anyway, and for another it would have even greater negative consequences for the next 24 hours at least. But I do tell myself, for example, if I only have 3 more tests to go I might as well just put in the extra 20 minutes and finish them now, rather than putting it off until the next day. Tomorrow-me will be grateful.

SUMMER CALLING...
by helloliriels
The teacher concluded, wrapping up the year with "I will leave you all with this one piece of advice: Pick one thing, and do it well!"
"I pick John Watson!" Sherlock claimed quickly (and loudly), giving a dead serious look to the teacher and then glancing over at his classmate, who was now dying of embarrassment.
The shade of red John was turning, was next level. It was creeping up his neck and ears. The only thing redder, might actually be a lobster.
But he was smiling. Grinning! Stupidly, from ear-to-ear, as he turned to make eye contact with Sherlock slyly. Keeping his head down.
Sherlock was beaming. Quite proud of himself.
And (John just knew), wholly unaware of the innuendo his statement had conveyed. The meaning was not, however, wasted on the remaining room full of 10th graders. And the teacher suddenly found himself wrangling with a loud and rowdy room. As the remainder of the class scrambled to claim their own first "picks" for the summer - "Jessie!" "Kate!" "No no NO! She's mine!" Tugs and pulls and slamming backpacks, as they all climbed around - laughing, pointing, directing, choosing, shouting!
John Watson was holding his sides, rolling out of his chair in-stitches with laughter. This summer was going to be great! Christ, he had it bad! He winked at Sherlock, and signaled with his thumb for them to quietly find a way out, amidst all of this ruckus (yeah?) It was the perfect diversion.
As the pair of them snuck out the door, Sherlock made sure to plant a kiss on his cheek, and wink at him. "Like my plan?" He asked, and John's eyes went wide. "You?! You cock!" He slammed his backpack against Sherlock's side, playfully (the only thing in it was his sweatshirt and some trainers). They dodged a few elbows and hands as they wove their way through the room to the waiting door, and then out to the hall. "I'm never living that down. You know that don't you?!" John yelled over his shoulder, as he hoofed it, slamming into the back doors into the brilliant sunlight that opened to them. Sherlock could tell he had loved the attention. Jogging along behind as the doors closed in their wake.
They quickly beat their way to the fence line, bounding over it. Backpacks launched out ahead of them, as they heard the final bell ringing farewell in the distance. They could find the packs later, they decided.
Shirts, pants, shoes, flying. They stripped as they ran.
Summer called.
The sky was blue.
Hand-in-hand. They raced each other.
One pale and dark like the moon on a starry night,
One tan and golden like the sun on a mortal day,
down to the endless sea.

Hi, Steph, I want to ask a question about writing endings? I feel I suck at them. I love writing beginnings and middles but endings are a different matter, I am actually stuck at the end of my fic right now, as in the very last scene. I don't have writers block, I planned my stories, but I have no motivation to finish the fic, I just don't like the journey to end, that's what it feels like subconsciously, while consciously it's the opposite, any advice. Thank you.
Hey Lovely!!
SO SORRY for missing this!!!!
OOOOF my problem is the EXACT opposite... I have the beginnings and endings planned out, but never the middle bit... my middle bits are all scattered paragraphss that I have to patchwork together hahaah.
Ahhh, I wish I had good advice for you, but mine is essentially, just write. Write anything. Eventually that story will come together as a whole, and it will work out. I write to instrumental music, which is my motivation, so perhaps maybe writing with the background noise of the music that evokes the mood you want for the ending will help? <3 Trance music and movie and video game soundtracks are always great, as well as “epic music” (look it up on youtube, GREAT stuff to help keep focus) and classical music.
Anyway, that’s just my unprofessional thoughts. I do art mostly, and I watch movies and YouTube videos for that because it doesn’t require much thinking (vocal music is distracting for writing, hence instrumental music). Any of my lovely regular author friends have good advice, especially regarding motivation to finish?

Hi, hun, Do you have any sad at first and happy ending Christmas fics? JOHNLOCK. Happy Holidays to you and yours. Joaquin.
Reply: From my 2 Christmas lists (1 / 2), these look like they should fit. I hope you enjoy your holidays too, stay safe and healthy!
Wonderful, Etcetera. (16955 words) by VictoryCandescence Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, past Sherlock Holmes/Victor Trevor Summary: Sherlock thinks everyone would be better off if he had never existed, including and especially himself. When he finds himself in a world in which his wish has been granted, he begins to think perhaps even he could be wrong – but it takes an unlikely chaperone to make him not only observe, but understand.
A Sherlock Carol (17387 words) by Jellybean728 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson Summary: This was based on a prompt at one of the Sherlock Holmes kink memes, to rewrite A Christmas Carol with the cast of Sherlock. Assume a post-Reichenbach/post-Empty House reunion, although not exactly a BBC canon compliant world.
A Telling Touch (91663 words) by MiyakoToudaiji Rating: Explicit Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson Summary: Post-Reichenbach. After Sherlock’s death, John manages to get himself re-enlisted and is sent back to war. But when two series of gruesome murders link home and outland together, John is suddenly faced with more battles than he could have imagined. A Reunion, multi-chapter, case fic.
The Season of Scars and of Wounds in the Heart (10341 words) by cold_feets Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson Summary: A look at various Christmases Sherlock and John have each had through the years. It’s about family, for better or worse, and all the different ways one comes to define family. It’s not a love story, though they do eventually fall in love. It’s not even really a Christmas story, but rather a story that just happens to look at their lives during the holiday season. Sometimes things are wonderful. Sometimes they aren’t. Life, as always, goes on regardless.
Another Auld Lang Syne (30234 words) by DiscordantWords Rating: Mature Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Rosamund Mary “Rosie” Watson, Mrs. Hudson (Sherlock Holmes), Molly Hooper, Mycroft Holmes, Greg Lestrade Additional Tags: Christmas, Angst with a Happy Ending, Pining Sherlock, Pining John, Post-Season/Series 04, First Kiss, Holidays, Winter, Advent Calendar, Past Drug Use, Angst, Eventual Happy Ending, Ficlet Collection, Drinking, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Kiss Summary: There had been years of missed chances.
Ghosts (14752 words) by orphan_account Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson Summary: A dead man is haunted by ghosts at Christmastime and, together, they help bring him back to life
Oh, my friends, it’s been a long hard year (11914 words) by splix Rating: Mature Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade, Mr. Chatterjee/Mrs. Hudson, Sherlock Holmes’ Father/Mummy (Sherlock) Summary: Christmas is rubbish this year.

Welcome to the fandom! I’m personally pessimistic about a S5, but who knows...
I’m active here and on AO3.
Also check out @khorazir @calaisreno @elldotsee @inevitably-johnlocked @7-percent @hotshoeagain @honeybeemotorcycles @sherlockedcarmilla @enterthetadpole @totallysilvergirl and many, many more.
So I just finished watching bbc Sherlock. Im shattered after that entire last season🥲.
Can someone pls point me in the direction of some active Sherlock/Johnlock central blogs, fanart and nice fic recs so I can begin to recover from that emotional roller coaster.
And can someone pls confirm that there will in fact be a season 5 and that I haven’t been getting my hopes up over a bunch of meaningless rumours. Someone pls….

@honeybeemotorcycles said to swissmissficrecs:
Hi, I have a question for you and your followers, Why can fanfiction writers does a better job of writing fix-its, then the writers who were being paid at least 100k a year to write? Thank you very much.
Reply: Answering on my main blog because this isn’t directly related to fic recs. I’m not sure which 100K writers you mean. Are you talking about the writers of television shows, or novelists? Either way, none of them are writing “fix-its” because a fix-it is ipso facto fan fiction. It originates in fans not being happy with the source material, and creating their own happy ending.
I think perhaps what you’re really asking though, is why do some fans find fan fiction more satisfying than the source material.
There are probably as many answers as there are fans, but here are some ideas I’ll just throw out there:
- Mainstream creators are trying to please everyone, or at least major market segments. This means that they may tend toward cliches, non-controversial themes, or open-ended endings. Fan fiction authors write for an audience with very specific interests, and fulfill all of the wishes of that audience. To take Sherlock as an example, neither Sherlolly, Johnlock, or Adlock was confirmed, but all are possible at the end of series 4. This is dissatisfying to some because that part of the story is left unfinished. Fan fiction fills the gap.
- Mainstream creators adhere to formulas in order to guarantee publication / broadcast. Publishers and networks are only going to finance something that they are fairly certain in advance will sell and make money. These formulas may come across to consumers as predictable or boring. Fan fiction authors are not bound by convention. They can write 100K of conflict-free pillowtalk. Lots of dopamine for fans, no money in it for publishers.
- TV and movie scripts are generally the product of an entire team, not just one person. Even if only one person gets the writing credit, the script has been tinkered with by multiple people along the way. Changes and compromises will be made from the original vision, and at worst it will come across with a piecemeal effect, plot threads may be toned down or left on the cutting room floor. The effect is less for books, but editors will also have a say. Fan fiction authors can go whole hog on whatever specific itch they are trying to scratch, and no one can tell them they can’t.
- Mainstream entertainment only gets one chance at telling the story. Fan fiction authors can tell the same story hundreds of times with slight variations. I don’t like every fan fiction I read, but I can keep reading until I find the combination of tropes, characterizations, plot, and emotion that satisfies me. If I don’t like a movie, I can’t go to Netflix and find 100 more endings.
Finally, I think it’s important to realize that not everyone is unhappy with the source material. There are plenty of people who genuinely and unironically enjoy the same series, books, and movies that others find problematic. More power to them and their canon-compliant fics that don’t try to fix anything, but extend the time they get to spend in their favorite places with their favorite characters.
