This #summer has brought many accomplishments for my Levi and I’m so proud of him. He’s learned to swim forward and backwards so effortlessly and with grace. He can whistle for hours and drive me bonkers too, and he’s so close to riding his bike without any hands just like his brother. I want to celebrate each of these these small achievements because they mean so much to him. When you’re a #twin who’s always coming in second to your brother, it can be incredibly frustrating. But he’s grown so much in the course of two months that I just wanted to make a special post just for him! 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵.⁣ ⁣ I think about my WHY often. WHY I wake up at 5am every day for a little alone time to work on me. WHY I value nutritious food that will fuel my body & give me energy to keep up with my little. WHY I prioritize exercise so that I can carry a (huge) toddler, her 15 stuffed animals, 5 bags of groceries and my water bottle (wait, did I drink any water today?!?!). ⁣ ⁣ There’s a reason phrases like “strong as a mother” or “tired as a mother” exist, because that’s the gold standard! I’ve never know exhaustion or true strength until I became a mom. ⁣ ⁣ They are and will always be my greatest accomplishment, but it’s not for the weak of mind or spirit. This job is hard, the job description is pages long, and it’s a role so greatly undervalued in our society. ⁣ ⁣ So if you ever wonder what a mom does all day, let this be a little sneak peek. It’s real and raw and beautiful and lonely at the same time. "Ending 2019 how I started it #exhausted 💤 I was searching for the “perfect” picture to sum up this past year, but then I came across this pic and realized that this not so attractive pic right here sums it up pretty perfectly 😏😴 #tiredasamother . I would say this is what 3 days #postpartum looks like, but this is basically how I pass out on the couch most nights at 8pm after a long day of mommin 😬(please tell me I’m not the only open mouth sleeper here 🙈). Why in the world would I post this picture for 40 some thousand of you to see? . Perhaps a brief lapse in judgement that I’ll regret immediately after I hit share 😂 or maybe it’s because I really just want all of you new moms, old moms, soon to be moms, and hopeful to be moms to know that motherhood is REAL and it’s hard and it’s tiring! It’s not the staged photos you see of a mom and her kids looking super happy and put together in a spotless house. Yes, those photos make for pretty instagram content, but is that what motherhood actually looks like? For some people, maybe it does. For me...Not so much 🤷🏻‍♀️ . This year has been full of SO many beautiful moments and definitely a lot of challenging ones and I wouldn’t trade them for anything ❤️ Thank you all for following my journey and for all of your support this year!
