So far I haven’t encountered this nonsense with ProWritingAid - but then I handle ProWritingAid incorrect suggestions with a whip and a chair, and tend to see any given error only once. Having built a customised spellcheck dictionary is also a great help.
Of course, having mentioned that I haven’t had any trouble, and Murphy's Law being what it is, let’s see what happens next.
AFAIK, whenever an error like this pops up the thing to do is correct it, and do whatever clicking means the app or program remembers the correction.
Tumblr media
It helps to know what the correction IS, of course.
If in doubt, check. From the above info it looks like a lot of people don't bother and just click the error, reinforcing it as "correct".
Dictionaries aren’t expensive, second-hand ones are downright cheap, and IMO it doesn’t matter that older dictionaries don’t have New Words added in the past few years, they’ll have a hundred thousand or so of Old Words - and their meanings - which are still in common use.
I was given this thing when I was but a lad...
Tumblr media
...and since nobody had told me you don’t read dictionaries like novels, that’s exactly what I did.
So...
Tumblr media
A spell-checker might catch me out on a misspelling - for instance I’ve an odd blind spot about “I-before-E-except-after-C” - but it’s not getting away with suggesting I use “rein” instead of “reign”, or “horde” instead of “hoard”, and let’s not get into stuff like “read” and “read” or “lead”, “lead” and “led”.
“I read (red) it last week” and “I read (reed) it every day”, also “lead (led) is heavy”, “you can lead (leed) a horse to water”, “my dog bites his lead (leed)” and “I was led (led) down the garden path”.
I wonder what AI would make of that lot.
Isn’t English fun? :->
googledocs you are getting awfully uppity for something that can’t differentiate between “its” and “it’s” correctly

Homographs AU post Rise movie
Cassandra: Hey! Meet my son from the future. He's your nephew.
Casey Jr: Hi!
12 April: Does that mean I get to be a wine aunt?
12 Casey: I CALL FUN UNCLE!
12 Donnie: What! How come you get to be the fun uncle?!
12 Casey: I think it's pretty obvious why.
12 April: Don't worry Donnie, you can be the nerdy uncle.
12 Donnie, muttering: But I wanted to be the fun uncle...

There are a lot of homographs in the English language (words that are spelled the same, but have different meanings.)
However, the word "state" honestly feels like it shouldn't be.
State (a location); State (speaking); and State (status) should all be spelled different. Especially the last one. Every time I use state in a way that's like "the state of things," the word just feels like it should be spelled different. Like "stait" or something. There's just something about it. Usually homographs have the same ~vibe~, even if their meanings and use cases are entirely different.
Not state (place) and state (status), though. The word state, when used to refer to the status of something, just has the ~vibes~ of a word that's spelled different.

To follow on from the incomparable @dduane above, it's FREE REIN, not free reign! If you've been given free rein, you are no longer held back by the REINS and are FREE to do as you will.
Additionally, it's MAKE DO, not make do. As in 'we will MAKE DO with what we have.' We will manage with what is available, usually something inferior or ill-suited to the task.
TO RIFLE—to make a vigorous or thorough search through something, particularly with the intent to take or steal
TO RIFFLE—to thumb, leaf, shuffle, flick through usually paper, pages, books, cards
WANT—as in for WANT of, to lack or need something, to desire something
WONT—as in 'is one's WONT', something one is accustomed or used to, in the habit of doing
IT’S NOT ‘PEEKED’ MY INTEREST
OR ‘PEAKED’
BUT PIQUED
‘PIQUED MY INTEREST’
THIS HAS BEEN A CAPSLOCK PSA
