It was a hot summer afternoon in June and here you were sprawled across the couch of your apartment reading your latest literary choice. It was this French historical romance Beauty and the Beast spin off and it was quite lovely. You were blowing through it, page after page after page, when your doorbell rang. You furrowed your brows as you turned the next page. You weren’t expecting any visitors. You’d just moved in and didn’t have many friends that weren’t online.

Getting up to answer the door,you looked through the peephole first (for safety,of course) where you were met with ice blonde hair and pale freckled cheeks. Unlocking the door,you open it to meet the shaded eyes of none other than your long time friend,Dave Strider. “You gonna let me in or…?C’mon it’s hot as balls out here man.” You roll your eyes and laugh softly to yourself.Stepping out of the way to let him in,you quirk a brow before closing the door.He walked straight to your fridge and completely raided your stash of juice boxes. You crossed your arms and stared at him as he chugged down nearly every.single.One.Staring at his audacity was exhausting so you just rolled your eyes and wandered back over to your couch, once again laying down to read. It was silent in the apartment for only a few moments before you felt a familiar weight plop down on the couch next to you. You were about to continue on reading when your book was snatched from your palms. "Hey! What the hell man-" You were interrupted by Dave's laughter. "Yo, wait you seriously read this shit? What is this? New age 'Twilight'?" He continued to flip through a few pages, not really caring about where you had left off before tossing the book over to the other side of the couch, successfully out of your reach. You groan in annoyance at him before folding your arms and glaring holes through his shades. "What the hell do you want,Dave? And why is it so much more important than my afternoon plans with my book?"

Dave simply kept staring at you until you noticed a slight pink tinge to his cheeks. Your expression softened and you uncrossed your arms, sitting up straight. "Woah, dude. Are you okay? What's up?" Dave seemed to sit in thought for a long while but it couldn't have been more than a couple of minutes surely. He took a deep shaky breath in and slowly blew it out through his nose. "Dude, come on. Dave. You're scaring me." You placed a gentle hand on his bicep, attempting to ignore the tight muscle under his sleeve. You felt your cheeks grow warm but tried to shake off the highly inappropriate thoughts clouding your mind. Your friend was acting strangely and that was much more important to you than some benign childhood crush. Okay, so maybe it wasn't just a childhood crush. You've maybe sorta had feelings for Dave for like.

1...2...3...Your whole lives basically?

But that didn't matter. You know Dave better than anyone in the world which also means you are highly aware of his playboy behavior and you were just not willing to sacrifice your friendship with Dave to simply get either a.)rejected or b.)your heart broken into a million billion pieces. You kept looking at him, trying to predict what he was going to say. Did he finally wanna talk about why he never took those damn shades off? Or about how he comes over here sometimes just for you to tend to his mysterious bruises and cuts all over him? The suspense was killing you. Dave took a deep breath and that one sentence changed your lives forever.

“I got the gig.”

Your eyebrows shot up in surprise. Dave had been after this DJ gig in Los Angeles for the last 6 years. It’s all he’s ever really wanted to do so far as you knew. Your face broke out into a smile even though your gut twisted into knots. “Dave, that’s…that’s great.” You wanted to be happy for him. Really, you did. But you knew that he’d be busy and you’d miss him. Pushing your feelings way deep down, you plastered a smile on your face. You threw your arms around him in the most non-bro way ever but you didn't care. Dave was going to be gone for a long while and you were going to miss him. He sat there stiffly for a moment before eventually wrapping his arms tightly around your frame. You both sat there for a moment just like that, arms wrapped around one another in the calm silence of your apartment. You didn't want to break the hug, not really, but you eventually pulled away. "So,um...when does your flight leave?" You sat there awkwardly twiddling your thumbs. "Tonight." Your eyes shot wide open at that. "Tonight?!" You yelled. Clearing your throat and adjusting your tone, you looked up at him. "I mean, you leave tonight?" He nodded as you blinked back your tears. He noticed how glossy your eyes were and he pulled you closer which was very unlike him. "Hey,it's gonna be okay.I'll call and text you all the time.I'll send lots of pictures of my sweet events too.Promise." You sniffled a bit but nodded. One thing about Dave was that he always kept his promises. Always. You sat up and swiped the tears from under your eyes. "At least let me drive you to the airport?" You couldn't see his eyes but the soft smile on his face said everything that you needed to know. You grabbed your car keys and drove Dave to the airport.

*Timeskip 1 Year*

It's been about 8 months since you'd heard anything from Dave. At first he'd call every night. Then it became every other night and then once a week. The last you'd heard, he met some girl named Savannah who was a model. He sent a couple selfies of the two of them together. She wore chunky gold hoop earrings and big sunglasses. And in every photo she was always wearing the same pink fur coat. You used to swipe through them a couple times a day just to see Dave's face. There was one of him with his new car. The gig paid pretty well and he bought himself a gold Camaro. You came across a photo of him sitting on the hood.

"Hun, are you ready to go? You've got that ultrasound appointment." You snapped out of your trance and shook your head to rid yourself of the daze. You nodded sullenly and looked at your boyfriend. "Yeah,sure let's go. Don't wanna be late or they'll reschedule me again." He placed a comforting hand on your lower back and smiled down at you. "It's going to be okay. I'm sure our baby is perfectly healthy and once she's born in a few months, she's gonna have the best mommy ever." He kissed the top of your head and you couldn't help but smile at him as you held your baby belly.

"You're right.And I just know you're gonna be the best daddy ever." You grabbed John's hand as he led you to the car. You're sure Dave is having the time of his life.

DAVE STRIDER

it really depends on the day which spoon he is. If he had a hard or rough day, you should count on him just... laying on you, clinging to you like a koala on a tree. But if he had a good or overall a day without you, rough or not he'll have you just lay on top of him.

He like to feel the pressure on your body resting on his. the weight gives him comfort, and the fact he knows its YOU? god just slap the title of happiest man on earth on his ass.

He never tells you when he had a rough day, you are able to simply just assume. He doesn't lay fully on you, but an arm and occasionally a leg will be on you. but if you reciprocate with playing with his hair???? oh boy, all of his body weight is going on you (he's laying on you... in a non-sexual manner)

DIRK STRIDER

He's a little more solid than his brother, being primarily a big spoon.

He feels much more comfortable holding you, because then he can just look down and see he's not physically alone anymore. He finally has someone.

Similar to his bro, he feels comfort from your weight on top of him. it reminds him you exist and you just simply existing in his life makes him feel about.. 89% more safe.

You and John talked on the Internet for a long time, until you finally met in person. He liked spending time with you and it was mutual, but it came as a surprise to him when you spoke to the seller in a different language in the store, which the seller knew better than English. He looked at you in shock and only when you left the store did he ask you what it was. You smiled at him a little and told him that you are bilingual and know not only English well

While you were walking, you answered John's questions about your knowledge of two languages. You told him about how your guardian insisted from early childhood that you learn not only English, but also a second language, claiming that this would help you in the future, and this was indeed the case, although not as often as your guardian described. John thought it was cool, because not all people knew other languages so well to speak them as fluently as you did

When you watched movies together and phrases flashed in them in a language that you knew, but that John didn't know, you didn't mind at all translating them for him if the movie didn't have subtitles or if they didn't match what the characters in the movies were saying. John was outraged when the subtitles did not match the real phrases and even managed to memorize a few of them, even though every time he mispronounced them you giggled, and pretty quickly your laughter was transmitted to him

John really thought it was cool that you knew two languages well. It was like opening new doors for you that were closed to him. He liked listening to you speak in another language and guessing what you meant based only on the expression on your face and the tone of your voice, and you didn't mind at all practicing your knowledge of the language, while combining it with communicating with John

🔮 Rose Lalonde x Reader ☀️

You never hid from Rose the fact that you knew not only English well, but also another language. You told her about it during one of your conversations, as well as how your guardian taught you a second language almost in parallel with English, and it gave results. Now, being older, you spoke two languages fluently, could feel more at ease if you decided to go to another country and could surprise new acquaintances with this knowledge. The last of the list of advantages that you voiced caused a barely noticeable smile from Rose, even though you didn't see her while you were talking

When you started calling her, sometimes, just for fun, you spoke a different language. These were just small phrases, most often those whose meaning she could know or guess. It was like a little game that the two of you were playing, and when you started seeing each other in real life, your game continued. Rose enjoyed spending time with you, and your little game was a fun distraction that helped get rid of the need to look for topics to talk about when you didn't want to talk about something specific

When Rose asked you to help you learn a little new language for her, you didn't mind at all. If she was interested in it, then you were only there to help her expand her knowledge. You knew perfectly well that it was difficult to learn a language well from books alone, so you helped her as much as you could. You both took your time with her training, moving gradually, at a calm pace, and Rose was more than happy with that. She liked the fact that you were able to combine business with pleasure

It didn't matter so much to Rose if you knew one language or two. She would have continued your communication even if English was the only language she knew, but the fact that you were bilingual gave you more topics to talk about and more ideas for what to do. She was interested in spending time with you and chatting, and looking at your sincere smile, Rose understood that the feeling was mutual

🕶 Dave Strider x Reader 💿

From the very first day you met Dave, he tried to seem cool to you. He wanted to make a good impression on you, and although he would never admit it, he really tried for it. At first, it was only as part of your correspondence, but when you started calling, he had the opportunity to rap to you of his own composition live. You tried your best not to laugh, and when he stopped talking, you started talking in a language Dave didn't know. You surprised him, and when you stopped talking, he asked you what you were saying, to which you replied that since he decided to show you his talent, then you decided to show him your talent

You told him that your guardian had been teaching you a second language since childhood, in parallel with English. You used to spend a lot of effort on this, but now you could speak two languages fluently and it wasn't a problem for you. Dave listened to you attentively, surprised that you really spoke two languages so well, as if there was absolutely nothing difficult about it, but for Dave, who spoke the same language, it really seemed like an outstanding achievement

When you and Dave started spending time together in real life, you sometimes helped him rap. You suggested phrases in another language that he could use and that suited both the meaning and the rhyme, for which he was grateful to you. You had many opportunities to combine your knowledge of two languages and Dave's desire to rap. You worked great together and he couldn't argue with the fact that you could give him good ideas not only for spontaneous rap, but also for a new issue of his ironic comic book, which he periodically sent you

You and Dave had different hobbies, but despite this, you found a great common language with each other. Sometimes he joked that your common language is the third language you know, and he couldn't help but grin when you laughed at his joke. He hoped that you would continue to have a good time together and that you would have no difficulty in continuing to understand each other so well

You and Jade have found a common language since day one. She loved telling you about life on the island, listening to your stories about the place where you lived, about your guardian, about what your life is like. You have often thought about what you could do if you came to visit each other. You both understood that it was difficult to implement, but no one forbade you to think about this topic. And one of your suggestions on this topic was that you could teach Jade a second language, after which you told her about how your guardian taught you a second language when you were still a little, thanks to which you are now fluent in two languages

She was delighted with how easy it was for you to do it. Her praise made you feel embarrassed and you told her how you didn't understand why you had to study two languages so hard before. Earlier, when you were a child, it seemed self-evident, then when you found out that usually your peers speak only one language, you felt offended that you spent so much time on it, but now you were even glad that your guardian had such an idea. Jade was glad to see your happy smile, and she was pleased that you really liked the language you spoke so well

Sometimes you watched movies with subtitles together and you could grumble because one or another remark of the characters was translated incorrectly. She loved listening to you talk about the meaning of foreign words and how they change depending on phrases and context. You listened with the same interest when she talked about gardening, about the flowers that she grew and even about her grandfather, even though you understood that you would not be able to get to know him and get to know him somehow except from her stories. But you promised her that when you meet, you will definitely introduce her to your guardian

Jade enjoyed talking to you and she sincerely wanted to believe that you would meet in reality. You were a person close to her and she wanted to share with you not only jokes that didn't make sense in English, but made sense in a second language you knew, but also different moments of life, and it didn't matter if they were good or bad

Yandere Eridan, Gamzee, and Dave with an S/O with Autoagression

Eridan

-I don't think he would fully understand what you're doing and what the implications of it are. Even if you tried to explain it, I think he would just use it as fuel for whatever he's trying to believe at that moment.

-I do think he would believe in physical punishments. So if you were to be acting out your urges as soon as you made an action because you felt guilty about something unloving you did towards Eridan, he would likely count you as excused for what you did and try to focus on getting you to stop and instead actually focus love on him.

-If you were doing it for another reason though, he might view it as you trying to guilt trip him and escape, even when that is clearly not the case. He would not put up with that well, and would likely either leave you to your own devices or punish you worse himself. He would also likely threaten you or try to guilt you even more in those situations, and only get more upset when that exacerbates the problem.

-If your autoagression ever manifests as you hurting him with the intention of having him hurt you though, he would not be able to understand that. He would fall into it every time and still not understand why you would act so idiotically.

-If you were to try to punish yourself using autoaggression while he was isolating you, he'd likely be a little confused about it, and thus annoyed. I think he would restrain you, so that you can't hurt yourself while you're in there, mostly just so that he doesn't have to think about it and what it might mean.

-On a more positive note, if you were to directly tell him that you want him to stop you from doing that if he notices, he definitely would even if he doesn't really get why you would do it in the first place.

Gamzee

-Chances are, he also wouldn't fully understand what you're doing unless you tell him. However, he would likely hold you tighter so that you can't reach anything to scratch.

-Even if you tell him, he likely wouldn't understand the deeper thought process, just that he needs to stop you whenever he sees it. You wouldn't even need to tell him to, he just wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.

-He would take care of the wounds you give yourself, even if they're fairly minor. He'd be gentle and caring about it, and would never act like it's truly your fault.

-He would view it fairly neutrally. He wouldn't see much reason or way to fix the deeper issue, but he also would want to stop you from acting on it.

-If you tried to hurt him in order to make him lash out at you, especially if it were out of character for how you usually are, he would likely just sit through it and ignore it. If it got to the point where he couldn't ignore it though, he would just force feed you sopor slime pies.

Dave

-Dave would probably be the only one out of these 3 who is able to actually understand your thought process. As such, he'd be the most sympathetic to it.

-He would also feel a bit guilty for not being able to instantly fix it for you though. He would see any time that you hurt yourself as a failure on his part.

-His guilt applies even more before he kidnaps you, and he'll likely kidnap you sooner just for having this condition. He doesn't want to see you hurt yourself, and he's convinced that if you're with him he can help you more than he could as just a friend or acquaintance.

-He would be nervous about getting you actual therapy though, because he knows how easily they could take you away from him if you told them the right things. He might get you an online therapist of some sort, but he would be in the room during each session. He also might just try simply researching strategies that could help and trying to teach you them so that he doesn't have to risk losing you while helping you improve.

-He would keep you restrained in a position where you can't do anything to yourself until he can find a more permanent solution to get you to stop.

-If you were to try to hurt him to get him to lash out at you, it would never happen. He would remain calm the whole time, because he'd be able to see why you were really doing it. He'd almost encourage you to hurt him instead of yourself, just because he'd rather bear the burden of your guilt than force you to.

-He'd be sure to take care of any wounds you give yourself though, and he'd be extra careful not to hurt you, lest you think it's him showing he's angry at you for something you've done.

-He might try to limit the amount of "mistakes" that you even have the potential to make. He would take over as many of your life functions as he can, so that all you have to do is sit still and be safe for him. It's not very easy to mess things up when your only task is to sit there until he takes you somewhere else.

-He'd also be very careful in how he treats you, sometimes to a patronizing level, to try to make you feel that you haven't done anything wrong. He would likely attach your guilt to his mentally, so it would help him too to have you feel good mentally.

DIRK STRIDER X READER GENERAL HEADCANONS

compared with Dave, the Striders are very similar, stoic, ironic, and all that stuff.

One of the key differences is their tell(for like emotions?). Dave has a lot of control over his voice, but you can see it in his face, whereas Dirk has a lot of control over his face, but you can hear emotions in his voice.

expect some stumbling over words when he’s flustered

i can see him just staring at you when he doesnt know what to do or say

He wants affection, but he doesn't really know how to like.. do that. He doesn't know how to go about initiating affection, and he'd kill himself before actually asking you, so he kinda just stays in the same room as you until you get the hint. Kinda like a cat.

just hovering around you in general, especially around groups of people.

if YOU give anything to HIM, whether that's art, food, something you bought, a cool rock you found, ANYTHING, he will treasure it forever

that being said he gets intimidated by large gifts. if you get him something super big he'd try to get you something even bigger to counter

Your shared love for music and musical apparatus makes him attached to you.

Your collection is probably the main reason he hangs out with you.

I said in his concept that Dave would make music for you and find gifts for your interests.

Dave no doubt wants to expand your knowledge of human music.

He gives you CDs and tapes, he even shows you human music videos.

You're completely enraptured by them when he shows you.

Dave also suggests having you make music with him on the meteor.

He no doubt makes songs for you, but making songs with you no doubt brings you closer.

Dave becomes your teacher in the art of human music.

Which is what snowballs into his obsessive behavior.

He begins taking all of your attention on the meteor.

Your time is mostly spent with him in your room, making music and chatting.

Terezi even gets concerned for the both of you as Dave strangely seems… attached to you.

Dave subtly manipulates just like he does in the original concept.

Don't get him wrong, he enjoys music, he just prefers other things for a hobby.

He may even try building you something that can play the tapes and CDs you have.

Records too if you have any.

While you rant about your obsession with human music, Dirk listens to you.

He even mentions his own hobbies in an attempt to relate to you.

Dirk is much more interested in swords and robotics, although he slowly gets a taste for music by listening with you.

He doesn't know many trolls but in a way he finds your intrigue in human culture cute.

As a result he considers you a close friend.

He often visits the room you have whenever he gets to meet you.

He rambles with you about particular songs or instruments.

In return you listen to his own likes.

Dirk also likes to give you things.

Yet instead of more discs or tapes like Dave, he gives you robotic creations that play music.

Probably gives you a small bluetooth robot that plays whatever song you like.

It no doubt also has a camera so he can keep an eye on you… as friends do, right?

Dirk finds your interests endearing and that makes him more attached to you.

Like Dave he ends up taking up all your time after that.

Dirk is an overbearing friend and is often needy.

He's lucid about how toxic his obsession is… yet you look so happy.

So… he'll excuse it.

I kinda based these off of me and my friends, so I hope its not too out of character!!

JOHN

Obviously in charge of the movies (much to everyones dismay).

He occasionally brings snacks too. (Snacks meaning full sized cakes that his father made.)

He is the one who usually stays quiet when discussing sleeping positions. He doesn't argue, or make it sexual when sleeping next to someone. He may make it awkward, but not sexual at all.

He'd wake up at the same time as rose would, so before anyone else.

ROSE

Her house is usually where they go for sleepovers, but if her mom is having an exceptionally rough night she'll make an excuse.

She has Kanaya make the pajamas, because everyone agreed it would be nice to have matching pajamas when they have sleep overs.

If there is an extra mattress, she'll insist she take it. She enjoys sleeping on separate beds, because she takes over the entire bed.

As stated with John, she and him wake up first. She usually goes to make food for everyone while John stays and wishes the two left good morning when they wake up.

JADE

She is usually the one who asked everyone if they wanna hang out. And she helps keep conversations going while John starts them.

She sleeps wildly, but doesnt know it. She can and will sleep on top of someone. (She also enjoys cuddling with whoever is nearest to her) ((in a non-romantic way of course)

She also brings stuff so they can have some activities to do. (Like beads, yarn, coloring books, and so on)

She wakes up last, and sleeps like a log. So once she's out she's out

DAVE

He's the one who gets the nitty gritty information. Like when they should arrive, when they'll leave, what they'll be doing, and all that jazz

He sleeps like a log. Not like he sleeps deeply, no, he sleeps without moving. He's scared everyone because of how still he is when sleeping.

He's the one with stories to tell when everyone wakes up, because his dreams can be fucking WILD.

He is pretty easy to wake up, so he wakes up at the sound and smell of Rose cooking.

he'd just stare at you, in disbelief and adoration, and realization that he doesnt need to be poker faced round you

that he doesnt need to put up a front to protect himself, the squishy parts of him he learned to shove away to get along with life

a big sigh of relief to say the least,

but once he realizes he doesn't need to be someone else for you, he can just be him, no expectations or demands, he can rely on someone else for once

you ain't ever gettin rid of him after that, he's not clingy but he's no longer keeping you at arms length, not now, not ever again
