I think Clef is over glorified or romanticized too much in fandom.

People will regularly talk about how "he's literally me" and how much they understand him, then proceed to say or do things that are the direct opposite of how he's written and what he stands for.

"I'm literally Clef" but they violate people's privacy or question people's trauma.

"I'm literally Clef" but they push this narrative that every human who has ever made a mistake is evil and incapable of love or change.

"I'm literally Clef" but they invalidate asexuals or people with sexual trauma, especially those with questionable coping skills. (That one person who was being weird about Clef being Ace)

Clef is an asshole, yeah, but last time I checked he was an Asshole that cared, grew, and changed to be better.

I don't think it's a requirement to be Right About Clef if you want to write him, but you probably shouldn't brag about how well you know love and understand him when everything you do IRL just shows that you only love him as a fictional being, or understand him as a concept, but not as an actual person.

If Clef was a real person a majority of the people who brag about kinning him or understanding him would probably seethe or cringe and completely fail what all of the writing and literacy that was presented to them meant.

I just can't help but feel like, looking at all the drama going on, that if the very people that openly talk about being The Most Right about him WERE presented with someone Like Clef, who doesn't talk about their trauma, acts weird, or just overall is Off, that they wouldn't approach that person in a way that would actually be understanding of his character. I've only seen probably four or five people who Actually Understand, and when they do those people are amazing!

There is also the wider scope of "not every interpretation of Clef is the same" so I'm mostly looking at the most definitive version of Clef, the one that alot of people's versions are based around.
