Home made pita pocket bread. this is so far superior to the stuff you get at the grocery store, it's not even close. And in addition to being delicious to eat, it's also extremely easy to make! We went Greek tonight. I mean we are Greek every night. Helen made chicken souvlaki. I made pita. That’s right. I MADE PITA. I’m for real for real Greek now y’all. And yes I know it’s store bought tzatziki. We usually make it ourselves but I am keeping my yogurt rationed and it’s hard to get fresh dill through peapod right now. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #nofilter #nofilterneeded #bakedgoods #baker #baking #bakebakebake #bakingmyfeelings #food #foodporn #dinner #greekfood #greekgirl #greeklife #salad #feta #souvlaki #chickensouvlaki #pita #pitabread #homemadepita (at West Yarmouth, Massachusetts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAtXTiWDtBQ/?igshid=ul9idnpxai6l

Hot Springs but not Really
A couple days ago I mentioned that the girls and I were off to some nice Thermal pools known as Neve Midbar. When Mody got us there the place was closed for Passover. We called our amazing tour guide Yoash and he gave us a few options. The girls did not want to hike so we decided to go visit a kibbutz near by that had a zoo.
Mody was really helpful and got us all set up. The zoo was actually divided into the animal part and then this little eating area part where the kids could make their own pita. So we went to the food making station first. The kids started with dough and rolled it out. Then I had to cook it in some crazy old school oven.
The tongs were pretty short so I actually ended up burning my hand, but not too bad. It didn't blister all that happened was it was super red, swollen and painful. The kids found it kind of amusing and it was the first thing they told Mody when he came back from the bus to join us. He was concerned and said after the zoo he would put some cream on it and such... he followed through and it was quite helpful.
Once the pita cooled the kids put toppings on and ate them. This was Ori's concoction. Chocolate and olives.
With our bellies full we moved onto the animal part of the zoo. Not only did we get to see some cool animals like monkeys, peacocks and the prey of the desert but we even got food bags with pins to feed certain animals.
The kids loved feeding the ducks the most because they claimed they were the funniest with their headstands in the water. Then they really enjoyed the hamsters and bunnies because they could go in the cages with them.
At the end of the zoo there was this huge tower that apparently you had to be 12 to climb up, but Mody ignored the sign and picked up Ori and held Sadie's hand as we all climbed to the top. The girls thought they were so cool since they weren't technically allowed up there.
After the zoo we loaded back onto the bus to go meet all the hikers. Mody made the bus ride extra fun by letting the girls pick what music they wanted and they could hear it throughout the bus. So there were lots of head bops and seat dancing going on as we drove to meet everyone else. Once we got there we had a good while to wait. So Mody opened up the luggage part of the bus for us to all sit and have a picnic in the shade. Then it got hot so we got back on the bus and had the air conditioner on. Since the bus was not moving we now had dance parties down the aisle and a huge tickle war. Ori was even lucky enough to fly down the aisle. I was very grateful that Mody was so great with the kids because it definitely helped them forget that we were there waiting for so long. The first group arrived and we loaded up the bus again to go pick up all the different stops. Finally we collected everyone and stopped to play on the playground a little bit at Sde Boker Kibbutz. I remember going here when I was on Taglit because we saw Ben Gurion's grave. This time around we focused more on the playground, grocery store for about 15 minutes and a quick stop at the local vineyard before we got back on the bus to drive Ezuz or better knowns as " the end of the world and take left"- which is how Yoash our tour guide put it.
The next post will be about our time at a little place known as Beerotayim- a Desert Eco-Lodge outside of Ezuz, which is near the Egyptian border. The closest "big" town would be Nizzana where there was a border crossing.
