i really had SO much fun in this hoodie. . .but today is the day i had to take it apart & say goodbye.

i'm really proud of myself for making it. it's easy to focus on what you don't have, coz (let's be real) it can be a real disappointment at times. being able to look at what you DO have and how you can make it work for you is a skill that needs to be learned and that's what this little paper project represents for me.

SAVAGE LAND ROGUE! SWIPE for more ❤️ Photo by @tracyakacosmo and edit by me with pointers from @leonietaganphotography - who will likely do FAR better edits than me ❤️ I’m finally starting to feel human again after being sick all week (yep I even got sent for a Covid test by the doc - which was negative!), so I took Rogue out for a trial run in the sun today! There’s a few minor things I’ll probably look at fixing up, and I might add the dagger she has in some variations :) This was a super fun, breezy, stress free costume to do :) The wig was made by cutting up and sewing two old wigs I had laying around at home. The spear is made from a stick found in one of the paddocks at home :D Other bits were made from leftover fabric / worbla / foam scraps. The tops were cheap white K-mart tanks that I dyed, and the X-Men logo was printed on transfer paper and ironed on! Who is your favorite hero? can’t pick just one, but Deku is definitely in the top three. Hence why I’m cosplaying him this weekend at Fanime. If you’re new, you may not know how deep my connection to this character goes. . I’ve been stressing quite a bit as I’ve been working to finish the cosplay. I had to sew the vest myself, alter the pants, hand sew leather bags and the holders for both his water bottle and sword, prep small items to carry in his bag...etc. I’m a bit of a completionist when it comes to cosplay. But the stress had been wearing down to some extent, until.... I tried everything on that I had ready today. (See second photo) . It hit me. How much I love Deku and why I decided to cosplay him - because he doesn’t give up. He faces crazy odds, but fights through them in the most relatable and human way I’ve seen while still being hopeful and encouraging. God used him to help me through one of my toughest times when I daily battled severe anxiety and felt extremely overwhelmed. I’d listen to the My Hero Academia soundtrack on loop, day after day after day. . Today I rewatched an episode and was reminded again of how much I love this green haired, will-do-anything-to-save-his-friends, never-say-die, soft boi. He’s touched me so much that in spite of all the reasons I thought of to not cosplay him, here I am! I "had" to do it.
