How Can Home Ventilation Be Sustainable?
Tumblr media
A number of practical techniques that strike a balance between energy efficiency and air quality can be used to make home ventilation sustainable: Natural Ventilation: Use passive air circulation, well-placed windows, and vents as natural airflow-dependent home ventilation methods. As a result, fewer mechanical systems are required, which uses less energy.
Energy-Consumptive Systems: Invest in mechanical ventilation systems that use less energy, including energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) or heat recovery ventilators (HRVs). These devices transport heat while exchanging stale interior air with fresh outdoor air to reduce energy loss. Use smart controls to adjust the ventilation in your house according to occupancy and air quality in real time. By optimizing ventilation patterns, automated systems can save energy when it's not needed.
Appropriate Insulation: To regulate interior temperatures, make sure your house is adequately insulated. By keeping conditioned air inside and outside air out, effective insulation lowers the demand on ventilation systems and improves the overall ventilation efficiency of your home. Frequent Maintenance: To keep ventilation systems operating well, keep them clean and maintained on a regular basis. Systems that are well-maintained operate better and consume less energy, which promotes sustainability. Home ventilation promotes energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in addition to enhancing indoor air quality through the integration of these sustainable techniques.

By Geoff Hanmer
Later this week the government will receive the report of the year-long independent inquiry into its handling of the COVID pandemic.
Among the issues it will have to contend with is air quality, in particular the air quality in high occupancy public buildings such as schools, aged-care facilities, shops, pubs and clubs.
Many already have high quality air. High-fitration air conditioning (so-called mechanical ventilation) is standard in offices, hospitals and shopping centres.
But not in schools. Almost all of our schools (98% in NSW) use windows.
In Australia’s national construction code, this is called “natural ventilation” and it is allowed so long as the window, opening or door has a ventilating area of not less than 5% of the floor area, a requirement research suggests is insufficient.
Windows, but no requirement to keep them open There’s no requirement to actually open the windows. School windows are often shut to keep in the heat in (or to keep out the heat in summer).
The result can be very, very stuffy classrooms, far stuffier than we would tolerate in shopping centres. This matters for learning. Study after study has found that when air circulation gets low, people can’t concentrate well or learn well.
And they get sick. Diseases such as flu, COVID and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) spread when viruses get recirculated instead of diluted with fresh air.
The costs of the resulting sickness are borne by students, parents, teachers and education systems that need to find replacement staff to cover for teachers who are sick and parents who need to look after sick children at home.
A pilot study prepared for the Australian Research Council Centre for Advanced Building Systems Against Airborne Infection (known as “Thrive”), suggests the entire cost of installing high-filtration air conditioning in every Australian school would be offset by the savings in reduced sickness.
What Classroom Air is Like The study carried out by the education architecture firm ARINA compared the ventilation of 60 so-called naturally ventilated schools in southern NSW and the Australian Capital Territory to that of a school in Sydney that happened to have been fitted with a Standards Australia-compliant air conditioning system to control aircraft noise.
It used carbon dioxide levels to measure ventilation. Carbon dioxide is a good proxy for ventilation because its levels are determined by both the number of people breathing out concentrated carbon dioxide and the clean air available to dilute it.
Under a normal load, defined as 26 students, one teacher and one assistant, measured levels of carbon dioxide in the air-conditioned school stayed below 750 parts per million (ppm) and were typically between 500 and 600 ppm.
A reading of 700 ppm is particularly good. It means the people in the room breathe in less than 0.5% of air breathed out by others.
But in “naturally ventilated” classrooms the reading often climbed to 2,500 ppm and sometimes more, within an hour of a class commencing.
At 2,500 parts per million, people in the room are breathing in 5.5% of the air breathed out by others. This is also high enough to affect cognition, learning and behaviour, something that begins when carbon dioxide climbs above 1,200 ppm.
Research suggests using ventilation to cut carbon dioxide to 700 ppm can cut the risk of airborne transmission of disease by a factor of two and up to five.
The economic case for healthy air In 2023, Australia had 9,629 schools with 4,086,998 students.
ARINA has previously estimated the cost of ensuring all of these schools are mechanically ventilated at A$2 billion per year over five years.
Offsetting that cost would be less sickness. Documents released under freedom of information laws show Victoria spent $360.8 million on casual relief teachers between May 2023 and May 2024, 54% more than before COVID in 2019.
The figures for other states are harder to get, but if Victoria (with 26% of Australia’s population) is spending $234 million more per year on casual relief teachers than before COVID, it is likely that Australia is spending $900 million per year more.
Add in the teachers in non-government schools (37% of Australia’s total) and the potential saving from air conditioning schools exceeds $1 billion per year.
Add in the other non-COVID viruses that would no longer be concentrated and circulated in classrooms and the potential savings grow higher still.
Worth more than $1 billion per year And, in any event, the cost of replacement teachers is a woefully incomplete measure of the cost of illness in schools. Many ill teachers can’t be replaced because replacements aren’t available, making schools cancel lessons and combine classes, costing days, weeks and sometimes months of lost education.
Also, the bacteria and viruses spread by recirculated air infect students as well as teachers, keeping students (and often their parents) at home as well.
This suggests the costs per year of not air conditioning schools exceed $1 billion and may well approach or exceed $2 billion, which is the estimated cost per year over five years of air conditioning every Australian school.
Natural ventilation was never a good idea for classrooms: it was cheap at the time, but not cheap at all when the costs are considered. Those costs happen to extend beyond disease to thermal comfort, energy use and the ability of students to concentrate.
It’s time we gave students and teachers the kind of protections we demand for ourselves in our offices, our shopping centres and often our homes. It would soon pay for itself.

The Invisible Man (2020)
Tumblr media
I “saw” 2020’s The Invisible Man again and liked it even more the second time. Any disappointment you might have once you realize it is not an adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel - or a remake of the excellent 1933 film - will disappear after witnessing the magnificent performance by Elizabeth Moss, the overwhelming sense of paranoia generated by the camerawork, Leigh Whannell’s direction, or the smart way it incorporates themes of domestic abuse into its story.
Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss) escapes her violent, controlling boyfriend with the help of her sister, Emily (Harriet Dyer), her friend James (Aldis Hodge) and his daughter (Sydney (Storm Reid). While hiding from Adrian (Oliver Jackson-Cohen), Cecilia learns from his brother, Tom (Michael Dorman) that he committed suicide after she left. Despite this, she becomes convinced he is alive, that he's found a way to make himself invisible and that he's now stalking her.
The usual rule in movies is “show, don’t tell”, and it’s a testament to the script by Leigh Whannell that he breaks this rule in one important way but that the film still works. What sort of abuse was Cecilia subjected to? We don’t really know. The film begins on the night of her escape. We see her check the clock in the middle of the night, carefully move Adrian’s hand away from her waist, pull a duffel bag out of a ventilation shaft, move a camera away from her exit, go down into the basement to shut off the alarms and carefully make her out. On the outside, the home looks majestic but from our point of view looks like an endless maze of suffocating corridors. Her next move is to climb the wall surrounding the property and then run through the woods to the road where her sister is scheduled to meet her. Later on, Cecilia tells us how Adrian would punish her, how eventually, he didn’t need to because he could foresee her every move and practically read her thoughts. Your imagination fills the gaps, and we’re just getting started.
It doesn’t take us too long to figure out what’s really happening. Adrian has, indeed, made himself invisible. That’s an endlessly more frightening truth than if Cecilia was still trapped inside the house with him. When she and James discuss her fears, the camera always seems a little bit too far away, like a third person needed to be squeezed into the frame. The negative space all around them becomes Adrian. It no longer matters whether he is hiding in that corner or not because he could be and the fact that he COULD be there means he’s there, slowly choking Cecilia just like before. No, not like before. Previously, she had hope. If she could make it off that property and onto the street, she would be free. Now, no one will come to her rescue because everyone believes she’s safe. Anything Cecilia says about Adrian stalking her just makes her seem unstable. Soon, she won’t have a choice. She’ll willingly decide to go back to him just so she can stop wondering if she’s being stalked or not.
Enough praise cannot be showered upon Moss for her performance as Cecilia. She plays this horribly broken person with pinpricks of who she must’ve been before Adrian showing up here and then. She’s so frightened of him that you can’t help feeling the same, particularly in those long shots at night when the camera simply stares at an empty door frame. We know there’s someone there. So does Cecilia. It’s like she’s been around the monster for so long that she can also read his thoughts. Rather than prove an advantage, it’s merely another reason to be terrified. He doesn’t need to even utter threats anymore. The threats are already there and whatever she can think of, he can counter with ease. She’s smart so there is hope but talk about an uphill battle and since this is a horror movie, you don’t know how it’s going to end. I’ll give you a hint: it’s a pitch-perfect conclusion.
The Invisible Man is genuinely frightening and it creates terror without resorting to cheap tricks. The picture heaps suspense upon suspense, makes sure you’re invested by fashioning these great characters and gives the roles to actors who are up to the task. Masterfully directed, fresh, and relevant, it’s not merely a great horror film; it’s a great film period. (June 10, 2022)

Why Is Expert Mould Removal Essential for Your Health?
Mould may seem like a minor inconvenience, but its impact on health and home can be severe if left unchecked. Many homeowners underestimate the risks associated with mould, leading to serious health concerns and structural damage to their properties. Professional mould removal is more than just cleaning a surface—it’s about safeguarding your well-being and ensuring a safe living environment. Let’s explore why expert intervention is essential.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Threat of Mould
What is Mould and How Does it Grow?
Mould is a type of fungus that thrives in moist, damp conditions. Expert Mould Removal in Sydney focuses on addressing mould spores, which are microscopic and can travel through the air to settle in various places. Once they land on a damp surface, they begin to grow and spread rapidly, especially in areas with poor ventilation.
Common locations for mould include:
Bathrooms and kitchens
Basements and crawlspaces
Behind walls or under carpets
Certain types of mould, such as black mould (Stachybotrys), are particularly dangerous and require immediate attention.
Why is Mould a Hidden Danger?
One of the reasons mould is so dangerous is its ability to hide in plain sight. Expert Mould Removal in Sydney addresses hidden mould that often grows behind walls, under floors, or inside air ducts, making it difficult to detect until it’s already causing damage. Even if you can’t see it, mould can release spores and toxins into the air, leading to significant health risks
Health Risks Associated with Mould
Mould is not just an eyesore or a structural issue—it’s a health hazard. Prolonged exposure to mould can lead to various physical and mental health problems.
Respiratory Problems
Mould exposure primarily affects the respiratory system. The spores can irritate the airways, leading to:
Coughing and wheezing
Shortness of breath
Aggravated asthma symptoms
People with pre-existing conditions like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are particularly vulnerable.
Allergic Reactions
For those with mould allergies, exposure can trigger symptoms such as:
Sneezing and runny nose
Itchy eyes and throat
Skin rashes
In severe cases, mould exposure can lead to allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), a serious condition affecting the lungs.
Chronic Health Issues
Prolonged exposure to mould can lead to chronic sinus infections, persistent coughing, and even hypersensitivity pneumonitis—a condition where the immune system reacts aggressively to inhaled mould spores.
Impact on Mental Health
Living in a mould-infested environment can also affect your mental well-being. Exposure to mould toxins has been linked to anxiety, depression, and brain fog. Constantly battling symptoms or worrying about hidden mould can take a psychological toll.
Vulnerable Populations
Certain groups are at a higher risk of mould-related health problems, including:
Children and infants
Elderly individuals
People with weakened immune systems or chronic illnesses
Why DIY Solutions Are Insufficient
Many homeowners attempt to tackle mould with DIY methods like using bleach or vinegar. While these may seem effective initially, they often fall short of addressing the root problem.
Limited Effectiveness
Most household remedies only clean surface mould, leaving hidden spores untouched. Without removing the source of moisture or properly cleaning the affected area, mould can quickly return.
Spreading Spores
Improper removal methods can disturb mould colonies, releasing more spores into the air and spreading the infestation to other parts of the home. This not only makes the problem worse but also increases health risks.
The Advantages of Professional Mould Removal
When it comes to mould removal, professionals offer unmatched expertise and resources. They don’t just eliminate visible mould—they address the underlying issues and prevent recurrence.
Comprehensive Inspection
Professionals conduct a thorough inspection to identify:
The type of mould present
The extent of the infestation
Hidden growth areas
This step ensures that no mould is overlooked, which is crucial for effective removal.
Advanced Tools and Techniques
Experts use specialized equipment and methods to remove mould safely and effectively. These include:
HEPA vacuuming to capture airborne spores
Industrial-strength dehumidifiers to eliminate moisture
Non-toxic cleaning agents to sanitize surfaces
Safe Containment
During removal, professionals isolate the affected area to prevent spores from spreading. This containment process ensures that the rest of your home remains safe.
Preventative Measures
Beyond removal, professionals provide long-term solutions to prevent mould from returning. This may include sealing leaks, improving ventilation, or recommending dehumidifiers.
Steps in Professional Mould Removal
The mould removal process involves several carefully planned steps to ensure thoroughness and safety.
1. Assessment and Testing
The first step is identifying the type and extent of the mould. Professionals use tools like moisture meters and air quality monitors to detect hidden mould.
2. Containment
Next, they isolate the affected area using plastic sheeting and negative air pressure machines. This prevents cross-contamination.
3. Removal and Cleaning
Using specialized tools, they remove the mould and clean the surfaces thoroughly. In some cases, materials like drywall or carpet may need to be replaced if the damage is extensive.
4. Post-Removal Testing
Finally, air quality tests are conducted to ensure that all mould spores have been eliminated.
Preventing Mould Growth After Removal
Once mould is removed, taking preventative steps is essential to avoid future problems.
Control Moisture
Address any leaks in your home promptly and ensure proper drainage around your property. Use a dehumidifier to maintain indoor humidity levels below 60%.
Improve Ventilation
Proper airflow is crucial in preventing mould growth. Use exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens, and open windows when weather permits.
Regular Maintenance
Inspect areas prone to dampness, such as basements and attics, regularly. Clean gutters to prevent water buildup, and replace HVAC filters frequently to improve air circulation.
Conclusion
Expert mould removal is not just about restoring the appearance of your home; it’s about protecting your health and ensuring a safe living environment. Mould can pose serious risks, from respiratory issues to mental health effects, especially for vulnerable populations. By choosing professional services, you can eliminate mould effectively and prevent its return, giving you peace of mind and a healthier home.

Your Trusted Experts for Confined Space Plumbing Services in Sydney and the Central Coast
When it comes to plumbing, there are many challenges that homeowners and businesses encounter. One of the more unique and complex challenges is confined space plumbing. These tasks often require specialized equipment, skills, and training to ensure the job is done safely and effectively. For residents of Sydney and the Central Coast, Conflo Plumbing is the go-to provider for reliable and efficient Confined Space Plumbing Services Sydney.
In this article, we will explore what confined space plumbing is, the unique challenges it presents, and why Conflo Plumbing is the best choice for these types of projects. Whether you’re dealing with tight, hard-to-reach spaces, or need expert plumbers for a difficult situation, Conflo Plumbing is the company you can trust.
What is Confined Space Plumbing?
Confined space plumbing refers to plumbing tasks that must be performed in areas with limited access or space. These areas could include underground pipes, ducts, crawl spaces, or other confined environments where there is restricted movement. The narrowness and accessibility issues make working in these spaces more dangerous and difficult than regular plumbing tasks.
Confined spaces can pose several risks to workers, including limited oxygen, the presence of hazardous materials, and the physical demands of working in cramped quarters. For this reason, specialized knowledge and equipment are essential when working in confined spaces. Plumbers must be trained in both the technical aspects of plumbing and the safety protocols necessary for working in these environments.

Tumblr media
Installing fencing on sloped or uneven ground can be tricky, especially in Sydney, where the land is varied and sometimes rough. Uneven land needs fencing that deals with practical issues like stability and coverage and improves the property's appearance. Slat fencing in Sydney is the ideal solution, and it is known for its strength, flexibility, and modern look. Its modular design easily fits uneven surfaces, ensuring a neat, professional finish without sacrificing functionality. For Sydney homeowners dealing with challenging landscapes, slat fencing provides a perfect mix of durability, style, and practicality, making it a superior choice.
Overcoming Terrain Challenges
Slat fencing is an excellent option for uneven land because it can easily adjust to fit different shapes and sizes. Makes it perfect for sloped or irregular ground properties, keeping them valuable and attractive.
Different Materials:
Slat fencing can be made from aluminium, wood, or composite materials, giving homeowners choices that match their property's style and strength needs.
Adjustable Spacing:
The gaps between the slats can be changed to balance privacy, airflow, and personal design tastes, providing a tailored solution.
Fit for Slopes:
For steep areas, specially sized panels ensure the fence fits smoothly along the land's shape, creating a neat and polished appearance that improves the property's overall look.
Design Flexibility and Customisation
Slat fencing provides unmatched design flexibility, making it an excellent choice for properties with uneven terrain in Sydney. Its adaptability ensures both practical and aesthetic harmony, even on rugged landscapes.
Versatile Materials:
Choose from aluminium, timber, or composite materials to match your property’s architectural style while ensuring durability and functionality.
Custom Spacing Options:
Adjust the spacing between slats to achieve the perfect balance of privacy, ventilation, and visual appeal tailored to your needs.
Gradient-Friendly Panels:
Customisable panel sizes allow the fence to seamlessly follow steep gradients, enhancing both functionality and the sleek, modern look of the property.
Durability and Low Maintenance
Slat fencing is an excellent option for Sydney's harsh weather, as it lasts a long time and needs little care. It works well on uneven or sloped land.
Weatherproof:
Fences made from powder-coated aluminium and treated wood can handle intense sun, heavy rain, and salty air, keeping them strong with little maintenance.
Firm Structure:
On sloped land, the slat fencing's light but strong design lets it be securely fixed and stays firm over time.
Better Durability:
Installed adequately with substantial posts and concrete bases, it becomes a solid, long-lasting choice for Sydney homes.
Conclusion Installing slat fencing in Sydney on sloping or uneven land is practical and attractive, providing a strong and flexible solution for rugged terrains. Its ability to fit smoothly around irregular landscapes and its modern look and weather resistance make it an excellent option for Sydney's diverse landscapes. Whether you adjust it to step or rake to match the slope, slat fencing creates a functional and visually appealing barrier that increases property value. For homeowners dealing with the challenges of uneven land, slat fencing is a stylish and dependable choice.

How Does A Retractable Flyscreen Enhance Your In Sydney Home?
Tumblr media
In a city like Sydney, where the weather is often warm and inviting, opening up your windows to let in fresh air is a daily pleasure. However, with the beautiful weather comes a host of insects that can ruin the experience. This is where the retractable flyscreen in Sydney comes in. This innovative solution allows you to enjoy the fresh air while keeping pests out of your home. In this blog, we will explore how a retractable flyscreen can enhance your Sydney home and improve your living experience.
What Is a Retractable Flyscreen?
A retractable flyscreen is a type of screen that can be pulled across windows or doors to keep out insects, and then easily retracted when not needed. The retractable nature of the screen means it remains hidden in a slim housing unit when it’s not in use, allowing your windows and doors to retain their clean look. These screens are perfect for homes in Sydney where outdoor living is popular and the need for insect protection is high.
Why Should You Choose a Retractable Flyscreen in Sydney?
Convenient and Discreet
The retractable flyscreen Sydney is designed to be discreet and easy to use. When you need to keep insects out, simply pull the screen across your window or door. When it’s not needed, roll it back into its compact housing. This feature is ideal for homeowners who don’t want the permanent presence of traditional flyscreens blocking their view or interrupting the aesthetics of their home.
Perfect for Sydney’s Climate
Sydney is known for its beautiful outdoor lifestyle. The weather is perfect for outdoor dining, relaxing on the balcony, or enjoying time in the garden. A retractable flyscreen Sydney allows you to open your windows and doors to enjoy the breese while ensuring that insects stay outside. The screen provides protection without compromising on ventilation, making it ideal for Sydney’s temperate climate.
Enhanced Durability
A retractable flyscreen Sydney is built to last, even with frequent use. Made from high-quality mesh materials, these screens are resistant to wear and tear, making them a cost-effective option in the long term. Their sturdy construction ensures that the screen doesn’t rip or degrade easily, even with constant exposure to the elements.
Preserves Your Home’s Aesthetic
One of the major advantages of a retractable flyscreen in Sydney is its ability to blend into your home’s design. When the screen is not in use, it remains hidden within its compact casing, preserving the clean, modern lines of your doors and windows. This feature makes it a great option for homeowners who don’t want traditional flyscreens detracting from the aesthetic appeal of their home.
How Does a Retractable Flyscreen Improve Your Living Space?
Keeps Insects Out
The most obvious benefit of a retractable flyscreen in Sydney is its ability to keep insects out. Whether it’s flies, mosquitoes, or other pests, this screen offers a reliable barrier against unwanted visitors. It’s especially important in Sydney, where the warm weather can attract a variety of insects that can be both irritating and unhygienic.
Improved Airflow
Sydney’s climate encourages open windows and doors, and a retractable flyscreen enhances this by allowing you to enjoy the fresh air without worrying about insects getting inside. The screen ensures that airflow is not compromised, keeping your home cool and comfortable.
Increased Home Value
Installing a retractable flyscreen in Sydney can increase your home’s appeal to potential buyers. Modern, high-quality features like retractable screens add value to a home and make it more attractive to those looking for a well-maintained, functional space.
Conclusion
A retractable flyscreen in Sydney is a smart investment for any homeowner looking to enjoy the fresh air while keeping insects at bay. Its discreet, durable, and user-friendly design makes it a perfect addition to homes in Sydney, where outdoor living is cherished. Whether you’re opening your windows to enjoy the breese or protecting your home from pests, a retractable flyscreen offers a practical and stylish solution that enhances your living environment.

5 Ways Air Conditioners Help Protect and Preserve Your Furniture
Ducted air conditioning Sydney systems are often seen as a luxury for maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures, but they also offer important benefits for the longevity of your furniture. Whether you have delicate wood pieces, upholstered furniture, or leather items, the right climate control can significantly preserve the integrity and appearance of these materials. To learn more, here are ways that air conditioners help protect and preserve your furniture:
Prevents Wood Furniture from Warping
Wood is highly sensitive to changes in humidity. When the air is too humid, wood absorbs moisture, causing it to expand and possibly warp or swell. Conversely, if the air is too dry, wood can shrink and crack. Air conditioners reduce excess humidity by dehumidifying the air, keeping the moisture levels balanced and preventing the wood from expanding or contracting unpredictably. Fluctuations in temperature can also affect wood, causing it to expand and contract. Air conditioners maintain a consistent and comfortable indoor temperature, which helps prevent rapid changes that could lead to warping. This stable environment ensures that the wood retains its shape over time.
Stops Fabric Fading
High temperatures, especially when combined with direct sunlight, can accelerate the fading of fabric colours. Air conditioners maintain a consistent, cooler indoor temperature, reducing the risk of heat-related fading. By controlling the environment, the air conditioner prevents fabrics from becoming overly exposed to the intense heat that often causes colours to lose their vibrancy. While air conditioners do not directly control sunlight, they help regulate the indoor environment by keeping windows closed and preventing heat buildup. By creating a cooler, more controlled atmosphere, air conditioning can make it less likely that furniture will be placed in areas of direct sunlight, where ultraviolet (UV) rays are most intense and responsible for fading fabrics over time.
Protects Leather from Drying Out
Extreme temperatures, particularly excessive heat, can accelerate the drying process of leather. Air conditioners maintain a stable, cooler indoor temperature, which prevents leather from becoming too hot and drying out. Consistent, moderate temperatures are ideal for preserving the integrity of leather materials, preventing them from becoming stiff or cracked due to temperature fluctuations. Air conditioners with built-in humidity control systems also help reduce the dryness of the air caused by ventilation systems or seasonal changes. By managing indoor air quality, they ensure that the air does not become excessively dry, which can negatively impact leather furniture.
Reduces Dust and Allergens
Many air conditioners are equipped with filters that trap dust, pollen, pet dander, and other airborne particles. By continuously filtering the air, air conditioners prevent these particles from settling on furniture, preventing dust buildup on surfaces like upholstery, wood, and leather. This helps maintain a cleaner environment and reduces the frequency of cleaning needed to keep furniture looking pristine. Air conditioners will also improve indoor air quality by circulating filtered air and reducing the presence of allergens such as mould spores and dust mites. By removing these allergens from the environment, air conditioners help preserve the condition of your furniture, especially fabrics and upholstery, which can otherwise absorb and retain allergens, leading to discolouration or wear.
Prevents Mould Growth
As air conditioners cool indoor spaces, they extract moisture from the air through their evaporator coils. This dehumidification process is vital in reducing the moisture levels in your home, especially in humid environments. By keeping the air dry, air conditioners minimise the chances of mould spores settling on furniture surfaces and growing into harmful mould colonies. Remember that mould thrives in environments with high humidity, especially in spaces where moisture levels exceed 60%. Air conditioners help control humidity by cooling the air and dehumidifying it, maintaining optimal indoor moisture levels. This prevents the excessive dampness that mould needs to grow, particularly on porous materials like wood, upholstery, and fabrics.
Air conditioners do more than just keep you cool—they play a vital role in protecting and preserving the condition of your furniture. By regulating temperature and humidity, preventing moisture buildup, and reducing exposure to harmful UV rays, air conditioners help maintain the beauty and durability of your furniture. Whether you are looking to protect your upholstery, wood pieces, or fabrics, investing in proper climate control is an effective way to safeguard your home’s furnishings and ensure they remain looking new longer.
