You know what fuck you *headcanons your ninja finances*
Kai
- usually deal with all the finances because he’s the most knowledgeable (and willing) to do it.
- he usually calculates how much the ninjas allowance is every two weeks and checks it off with wu to make sure everything looks good
- he also deals with money used for things like grocery’s, new supplies, etc in what they call the team fund
- typically if the ninja need something that benefits everyone (or don’t want to pay with their own money) they ask Kai and wu if they can use the team fund money instead.
- the ninja mostly get their finances through donations, merchandising, and awards from the city. Although it’s not much most shops in ninjago also give them custom discounts in order to thank them for protecting the city.
- Kai himself just usually saves up his allowance money. He never really developed out of his habit for saving.
- occasionally he would use his money to get the other gifts or to buy something he’s particularly interested. Like books or swords
Jay
- either always gambles away his money or spends it all right away getting new games, comics, or snacks.
- will pay ridiculous amount of money for merchandise if his current favorite show or media
- always begs Kai for more money or try to convince him to use the team fund to buy stupid shit
- never works lol
Nya
- uses most of her money to get supplies for her own side projects
- on the rare occasion jay will convince her to buy a new shirt
- frequent customer of Home Depot and Micheal’s
- she hates shopping in large mall complexes or stores because they would kick up her perfume allergies
Zane
- typically spends his money going to museums or zoos so he can look at birds
- he also donates most of his money to these places
- he also buys a lot of supplies and books about birds
- if you can’t tell he likes birds
- he doesn’t need to spend his own money on food or cooking supplies because the team fund usually covers that for him
- but he still likes to go to fancy restaurants in order to judge the food there lol
Cole
- one of the few ninja that has his own money stream because he does art commissions online
- Kai doesn’t question it as long as it means cole has his own money he doesn’t need to worry about
- spends his money on art supplies
- firm believer he’s a furry you cannot take this from me
- as a result also spends his money on fur suits, commissions, and going to cons
- also spends money trying to tend to his own plants he has
Lloyd
- lots, and lots of candy
- mostly spends his money on fast/junk food
- will occasionally buy himself a toy he wanted as a kid and now that he’s an adult with his own money he can get it himself
- likes to go to target a lot but not to buy anything just walk around and look at stuff before leaving
- if you tried to explain the concept of a credit card to him he would look at you like a kicked puppy
- also buys comics, although he’s not that interested in merch
- will sometimes buy plushies of himself
- anything else he has he usually donates
Wu
- if you took him to a grocery store I firmly believe he would take one look of those giant statues made by soda boxes and leave
- usually donates to museums
- very grateful that Kai is helping him with everything
- wu usually took care of the finances for a bit but after his tea shop and seeing how excited Kai was to run a shop with him (and recognizing Kai probably knows more then him) he let Kai take control
- of course everything still has to be approved by him so Kai isn’t abusing his power

Without Warning - Mafia!Joel Miller Scene 12
Mafia!Joel Miller x OFC
Rating: T (y'all already know I love my f-bombs lmao)
Summary: Joel finally says those three words...
Masterlist
Over the next three days, Joel went with Indi to her apartment to collect her things, insisting she stay with him while he deals with the David problem. Since she was still on break from her classes, it was easier for her to have constant security without school officials or her professors getting suspicious.
Tommy picks her up and stays at the bar her whole shift. Joel or one of his guys picks her up after and takes her home or wherever else she wants to go. It sounded excessive, but Joel couldn’t risk losing her, not with a psychopath like David still breathing.
They did talk about what happened when she was taken. Joel noted the details she described about David, relaying the information to Tess. He tried to keep Indi’s mind occupied with other things, giving her free range of the house, including the basement and his office. She also had access to his credit card, but he noticed she hardly used it for herself, most of the time using it for food for the guys or things around the house. He noticed a significant amount of candles and blankets appearing around the house, much to his amusement.
The more she learned about him and the darker side of his life, the more she seemed to…thrive. She brought a warmth and brightness into the house that not even the occasional dead bodies could dampen. At first, Joel was concerned that she wasn’t more concerned about the stains and walls of guns and torture devices in the basement. She approached it with curiosity, asking questions as she held his hand and circled the dark room like they were browsing Home Depot. She was quite the enigma and he fucking loved it.
He found her in the kitchen after they’d finally gotten all her stuff moved into his place or into storage. She was scurrying around the kitchen, arranging what looked like catering dishes on the island.
“What’s all this?” he asked, amused by her domesticity.
“Tommy said a bunch of the guys are coming over tonight for some fight or game or something. I wanted to make sure there was enough food,” she shrugged, organizing a section for plates and utensils.
“You cooked all this?” he asked in disbelief, estimating there was enough food to feed at least fifty people spread out on the marble counters.
She scoffed loudly. “No, you ordered it on your credit card and had it delivered to the house,” she said with a wicked grin, moving towards him and wrapping her arms around his neck, stretching onto her toes to kiss him.
“Oh I did?” he smirked, bringing an arm around her waist and pulling her closer, a sense of pride blooming in his stomach knowing he could provide for his girl and her wishes, even if it was for others. If it made her happy, he didn’t care.
“Mhm, because you’re such a good boss who takes care of his employees,” she nodded against his lips.
“You’re spoilin’ them too much, baby girl,” he murmured, reaching around to grope her ass, making her giggle.
When she nipped his lower lip, he instantly felt the spark of desire ignite. Lifting her leg onto his hip, he yanked her even tighter against him, her soft gasp making him smile against her sweet lips.
The door to the garage opening and slamming shut startled them apart. “Damn, somethin’ smells good!” Tommy’s voice echoed through the house.
Joel rolled his eyes, shaking his head at his girl for indulging the guys in her hospitality. She pecked his lips, smoothing down the front of his shirt just as Tommy came in, trailed by seven other men who all immediately went straight to the island of food.
“What the hell are you doin’ here?” Joel grumbled to his brother, one arm around Indi, the other on his hip.
“Here to watch the game, brother,” Tommy said with his charismatic smile, “Your lovely lady here also said there’d be food and Indi, honey, you did not disappoint,” he said with a wink at her, snatching up a plate, piling wings, fries, and ribs onto it, grabbing a beer from the open cooler on the ground next to the island.
“I’m gonna fight ‘im,” Joel grumbled, rolling his eyes after his brother disappeared into the theater room.
“He’s only doing it because he knows it bothers you,” she soothed him, lightly scratching at his chest, a comforting sensation he’s grown to love, just as much as when she does the same to his scalp.
“He’s askin’ for a foot up his ass,” he muttered, kissing her forehead.
“Go sit down, handsome, I’ll make you a plate,” she insisted with a sweet smile.
“I can make my own plate, ba-.” “I want to, Joel,” she cut him off, putting a finger to his lips, replacing it with a coconut-scented kiss before giving him a light push towards the sounds of the beginnings of a football game in the other room.
He wanted to say it so bad at that moment, looking down at her bright eyes and gorgeous smile. She cared for him in a way he’d never experienced before. In the short time she’d been staying here, his house felt more like a home than ever. The little things like finding her making coffee or coming across one of her books in the living room, it brought a sense of happiness he never thought he’d experience in his life.
He strode casually into the theater room, collapsing on the leather recliner beside Tommy who was stuffing his face, wing sauce in his mustache. Joel shook his head at his brother, leaning back comfortably in the chair and focussing on the team about to kickoff. His men joined quickly, each of them looking absolutely elated with a plate of food and beers under their arms. Indi came in with Joel’s food, looking absolutely gorgeous in one of his t-shirts and a pair of tight shorts. Fuck, she made wearing his clothes look absolutely sinful. He noticed she’d handed him a different brand of beer, his favorite import actually.
“Enjoy the game, no more bullets in the screen, please,” she said, leaning down to kiss his cheek as she set the plate down.
“You’re not stayin’?” he asked, a flash of disappointment in his gaze.
She smiled. “No, this,” she motioned to the screen, “is not for me, I’ll be upstairs with Ellie,” she added, giving him a final kiss on the lips before leaving them. Tommy gave Joel a hard side-eye after the national anthem, obnoxiously smirking at his brother as the first quarter started.
“The fuck are you lookin’ at?” Joel finally asked, glaring in irritation at the other man.
“You’re so fuckin’ whipped, man,” Tommy snickered quietly, “You’re not stayin’?” he imitated Joel’s deeper voice with an over exaggerated pout, breaking into another fit of laughter.
“Don’t make me shoot you in the other leg,” Joel grumbled around the lip of his beer, keeping his eyes on the screen and voice low.
Tommy laughed. “I’m glad to see you happy, man, honestly,” he said sincerely, squeezing his shoulder, “Much less of a pain in the ass when she’s around, I’m not gonna lie,” he added, earning a hard punch to the shoulder.
“You wanna watch the game at your place or what?” Joel fired back, the hints of a smirk on the corners of his mouth.
“The fuck was that?! Come on ref!” Eric yelled from behind the brothers, breaking their private moment by more swears and groans from the room.
They enjoyed the rest of the game, one or two more guys coming in right before half-time. During the breaks, they would occasionally wander back into the kitchen for more food. Joel hoped Indi had gotten something for her and Ellie before, knowing that everything on that counter would be gone by the end of the third quarter.
He wouldn’t admit it, but he enjoyed himself that evening, actually laughing a couple times at the guy's jokes. Everyone left not long after the game, either to the bars or to their respective homes. Tommy took one of the guest rooms, having gotten a little too much into the bar at the back of the room, evident by his loud stumbling around the house. Once he was secured in a room, Joel went in search of his girlfriend and his child.
Using the security app on his phone, he swiped through the various camera feeds around his house until he found Indi and Eliie sitting on the second-story balcony in the swinging bench they often smoked together on. Ellie had a sketch pad in her lap that she was very focussed on and Indi seemed to be scrolling through her social media. He couldn’t help but smile at the feed, thankful that his two girls got along so well. Upstairs, he found the doors to the balcony open, the girl’s quiet conversation drifting towards him.
“Does it hurt?” Ellie asked, her voice low as she stared down at the paper.
“Yeah, the first time for sure, but it gets less painful every time you do it,” Indi said casually.
Joel’s curiosity had him pausing in the doorway.
“Did you bleed a lot?” Ellie asked after a minute.
“Oh yeah,” Indi huffed, “But everyone’s different, it just depends,” she added.
Now Joel was concerned. “What’ve y’all been up to?” he asked, making both girls jump.
When they turned to look at him, Indi smiled and Ellie rolled her eyes. He felt awkward, his body stiff, as he contemplated outright asking if Indi was talking to Ellie about…sex. He couldn’t help but grimace at the thought. Also, he didn’t know if he was completely comfortable with that, especially since Ellie’s girlfriend has yet to show her face.
“I want to get a tattoo,” Ellie said decisively, holding up her sketchpad to show him a rough design of what looked to be some kind of gnome with a…tiny knife in its hand? He shook his head.
“Not ‘til you’re eighteen,” he grumbled, so relieved that they weren’t talking about sex.
“I was telling her about my first one,” Indi added, her eyes drawing him closer until he sat between them.
“I can wait two years,” Ellie shrugged, stifling a yawn.
“Get some sleep, kid, I’ll take you back to Bill ‘nd Frank’s tomorrow,” Joel said, affectionately rubbing her back and giving her a light push onto her feet.
She said goodnight to both of them, wandering off into the quiet house to one of the empty guest rooms on the second floor. Joel turned to Indi with a lopsided grin, making her giggle.
“What?” she asked, suspicious of the look.
“When I came in here,” he began, wrapping his arm around her, “I, honest-to-God, thought you were given’ her the talk,” he said laughing with a hard exhale through his nose.
“What do youoh! Oh, God no,” she said, immediately blushing, hiding her face in the crook of his neck and shoulder.
“Don’t know which one’s worse though, now that you got ‘er thinkin’ about a tattoo,” he said easily, grinning the whole time.
“Hey, I didn’t do anything, she started asking about it on her own,” she insisted, poking his chest.
“You encouraged it,” he argued, obviously teasing her.
She retaliated with a swat to his leg. “Shut up.”
They settled closer together, Joel eventually pulling her into his lap, right where she belonged with both his arms around her. She cuddled into his chest, nuzzling his neck and leaving soft kisses along his jaw as he looked out over the expanse of trees.
These quiet moments with her were quickly becoming his favorite activity, getting to hold her close, no expectations to talk, just enjoying each other’s proximity. She fit so perfectly against him, his missing piece he never knew he needed. These moments had also become the moments when he wanted to tell her the most, to say the words that weighed heavy on his tongue.
“You’re thinking very loudly tonight, is everything okay?” she asked softly, playing with the button on his shirt.
“I just…I want you know th-....” he took a deep breath, meeting her eyes when she lifted her head in concern, “Baby girl, I love you.”
He did it. He said it and it was out in the open now. She didn’t seem surprised when he said it, offering that sweet smile he loved so much and kissing him softly, slowly, holding his face in both her hands.
“I know,” she said with a soft chuckle, “And I love you too,” she added, those simple words shattering all worry in his mind, his body igniting with the adrenaline of her reciprocation.
He kissed her harder, holding her tight against his chest. “What’d you mean you know?” he asked against her ear, his lips trailing down her neck and across her shoulders.
“You talk in your sleep sometimes…”

Two Philadelphia men have been charged in a scheme that involved buying and selling millions of dollars of stolen goods through several of their pawn shops.
Larry Leonard, 60, and Nathaniel “Nat” Leonard, 68, cousins from Philadelphia, were charged on Friday with conspiracy to transport and sell stolen goods in interstate commerce and interstate transportation of stolen property, United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero announced in a press release.
The cousins ran three pawn shops, including Society Hill Loan and K&A Money Loan Pawnbrokers, both in Philadelphia, and Lou’s Jewelry and Pawnshop in Wilmington, Delaware, according to the release.
Authorities say Larry Leonard controlled the day-to-day operations of K&A and Lou’s Jewelry. His cousin Nat, meanwhile, was the one who controlled the day-to-day operations of Society Hill Loan, officials said.
The men are accused of using their pawn shops to buy and sell large quantities of new, stolen, in-box merchandise supplied by two main groups of people.
The first group, known colloquially as “boosters,” collectively stole millions of dollars of new retail merchandise from retailers in Philadelphia and Delaware, including from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, CVS, Rite Aid, Safeway, and others, according to officials.
This “boosters” group then sold to the Leonards’ pawn shops for cash.
A separate group, known as the “mooks” collectively stole millions of dollars of new retail merchandise from across the country, which the group then resold in bulk quantities to the Leonards and other pawn shop employees for cash on a regular basis.
The cousins were also accused of transferring the stolen goods from Lou’s Jewelry and K&A to Society Hill Loan, where they then listed the stolen merchandise for sale on an eBay site specifically for that pawn shop.
Officials allege that from November 2019 through December 2023, the Leonards sold more than $19 million in stolen merchandise via their eBay site.
Larry Leonard is also charged with three counts of money laundering for using the proceeds of the illegal sale of stolen merchandise to pay off more than $120,000 in credit card bills from December 2022 through April 2023, according to the release.
If convicted, Larry Leonard faces a maximum possible sentence of 45 years in prison. Nathaniel Leonard faces a maximum possible sentence of 15 years in prison.

Today sucked. Today was not a good day. I just want to go to bed and have it be tomorrow because today was bad. And it wasn't even just the Ticketmaster debacle.
I did not sleep well. I slept in to try and make it better. But I just felt really low. Like emotionally. Mentally. I was feeling really bad.
I got up and washed my hair and tried to pull it together. I wanted it to be a good day. I was just really struggling.
James left me an egg sandwich. And I had that in our bedroom. I hung out for a while. I collected the paint chips from the baby room. And cleaned the bathroom. And brought Ruby to the Roomba upstairs to clean.
Once Ruby was done I would gather myself to go out. The plan was to go to Home Depot and then taco bell. James also asked me to get English muffins. If I couldn't feel happy I could at least feel helpful.
James has already asked if I had paid my credit card form our joint account. Which was 100% an accident and I felt so stupid. So right before I left the house I transferred money back to that account. I'm still not at my savings goal and now it's even worse and that doesn't feel good. I'm trying but man. I only have a few more months to save as much as I can. And it doesn't help me not feel like a burden. Sucks.
I was trying to be in a better head space though. I drove to Home Depot and they were able to mix up the two gallons of paint. The one is a lovely light blue called Arabella. And the other is a dark sagey green called Silver Laurel. Super pretty colors.
While I was waiting for them to mix those I got a few other small things for the house. Brackets for a shelf in the one closet, anti damp pellets, just little stuff.
I got my paint pretty quickly though. Paid. And was off. I wasn't actually all that hungry but I thought maybe a crunch wrap would make me feel better.
I drove over there and went inside. Had a nice little moment with a man who held the door open for me and then I opened the other door for him.
I sat down to wait for my food. I had gotten my receipt emailed to me and I opened my email to delete it and I had 42 unread emails??? I quickly scrolled through them to see if anything was important. And I see that there are 4 from Ticketmaster. Confirming that my tickets had been transferred.
The absolute dread that I felt in my heart in that moment. They called that my food was ready and I thanked them and basically ran out of the door.
I tried to call Jess as I started to absolutely sob. She didn't answer so I googled what to do and it gave me a phone number for Ticketmaster so I called. I was absolutely hysterically sobbing. I could barely breathe.
I had been on hold for almost ten minutes when I decided I had to go to James. I needed help. The people who had stolen my tickets also signed me up for 100s of things to try and hide the Ticketmaster emails. And I was so overwhelmed with the idea of changing all my passwords. And I couldn't breathe.
I had to drive through the tunnel and somehow I didn't lose service. So I was able to stay on the call. It would take most of a half hour to get through. I was in the parking lot of the museum when someone finally got on the line with me.
I had mostly stopped crying. I was able to explain what happened and the guy was super nice and he escalated the case to the fraud department. He said that they usually get the tickets back but if they can't they will either replace them or if that's not possible they will refund my tickets. I was crying again but not as hard. I was just so sad.
I asked him if I did something wrong and he said no. That I should change my passwords, to my Ticketmaster account, to my email, and to my bank and credit card. And that's when I realized that all of this happened within a couple of minutes of me transferring that money to James. I don't know if somehow that was related but it was all so fast.
He gave me a reference number for the fraud case. And I emailed that to James. And went inside to get some comfort.
James had been swamped and didn't see my texts until a few minutes before I came in. And I was trying to not keep crying. They gave me a hug and asked what they could do. And I just said I needed help fixing it.
I mostly just needed to sit with them while I assessed everything. I got my Google and banking passwords changed. Changing the Ticketmaster ones was more difficult for some reason but I was able to figure it out eventually.
Thankfully it seems like whatever program they used to mass sign me up for things didn't actually sign me up for much. Mainly it was college newsletters and those went straight to spam. And almost everything else was accounts I already had confirming my email. So thankfully nothing was to messed up. It 100% could have been a lot worse.
And hopefully I will get my tickets back. I will be super sad if I don't get to go to this show. James thinks we may have a work around but I honestly just want this to be something I did right. Like I already am feeling like a failure and a burden and I really needed this to to right. The man on the phone said it could take until the end of the month. If I don't hear anything by next week I'll call again and follow up.
I sat with James while they worked for a while. I just felt so defeated. My heart hurt. I hadn't eaten my lunch. My taco bell was sitting cold in the car. But I decided I needed to go home. I got one more hug and said goodbye.
I was just so sad though. I am so sad. I was going to go right home but decided to go get those English muffins still. I went to Canton crossing and went to the craft store to get some small shelves to make a new display for my bears. Which I would build when I got home and I'm very happy with how that came out. I may make a second one. We'll see.
I walked around Harris teeter and got the English muffins and a few other things. I already spent to much money today, so it was truly time to go home.
I got back here and gathered all of myself stuff to bring inside. I just wanted to be alone.
I opened the backdoor for Sweetp. And had my cold taco bell. Which was fine. And built my little shelf display, that I'm very pleased with. I really need to cut more bears but I think that's going to be a tomorrow thing. I did not have that in me today.
I would dig Crabcake up. I am trying very hard to not bother him while he's hibernating. But I apparently am supposed to soak him still. So I dug him up and he looked so tired. I plopped him in his bowl and went filled out pitcher with warm water and gave him a shower. He hung out in the water for a bit and eventually moved himself to his metal pot. It was nice to see him.
I was feeling really tired. The crying really took it out of me. I would change and get in bed. I thought I might sleep but I didn't. I just scrolled on my phone and hung out with sweetp and tried to not feel so sad.
James would come home and it made me feel a little better than they were here. They asked if I wanted dinner but I wasn't hungry. So they decided to start painting the blue wall.
And it looks so nice. It's such a lovely shade. I would sit in the backroom with them for a little bit. Watched them paint. They told me about their day. But I was not feeling great. So I went to lay back down.
James would make us dinner after they finished that first coat of paint. And while I appreciated the dinner a lot, everything just tasted bad to me. Tasted like nothing. I have had an acidic taste in my mouth all day and nothing has helped it. I am glad I ate but the taste is still there.
James just came to lay in bed with me. Sweetp is here too. It's early but I just want to close my eyes. And have this no good day be over.
The one little bright spot of the day was getting a nice card in the mail from my dad. It really made me feel better seeing his handwriting. And his relentless optimism.
I hope that I can find my optimism again. I hope tomorrow feels better. I love you all. Goodnight

update 07232023
last Tuesday, son in law finds the hot water heater in their new house leaking
i've been working with them since Wednesday, hauling boxes of stuff and small furniture
on Wednesday, he contacts Lowe's and arranges to buy a hot water heater and have it installed on Thursday afternoon
Thursday afternoon, i work at the new house on electrical switch replacement while waiting on the plumbers with new hot water heater from Lowe's. they never show up.
Thursday evening, son in law decides to buy a hot water heater and we will put it in. i've told him that i can install it and i have experience with several hot water heaters before.
on Friday, we go to Home Depot and he buys a hot water heater and we bring it to the new house. we install the hot water heater but have to modify the PVC inlet water piping because the height of the new water heater is sightly different. we glue the new PVC piping and let it dry overnight
on Saturday, the movers come to the town home to move their furniture. i fill the new hot water heater and it leaks. the water is coming from under the insulation and not any of the connections we have made. i contact the manufacturer and they will send some parts and reimburse for a plumber to repair the leak. later, i call Home Depot and they say they will exchange for a new water heater. the movers deliver the big furniture to the new house. we drain and return the new water heater to Home Depot and get another just like that one. bring it back and install it and it leaks. feel like i'm going to puke. we drain it and bring it back to Home Depot, this time getting money back on credit card. about 830pm, son in law buys a new hot water heater at Lowe's. different brand from the Home Depot water heater. we install it Saturday night but have to modify the cold water inlet piping again and let the glue dry over night.
Sunday morning, filled the new water heater and no leaks. thankfully. in the process, i noticed that the water pressure reduction valve for the house may be faulty and letting the water pressure go above normal at times. new water heater is working well.
unpacking all the boxes and i'm changing more electrical switches and resting some.
top left = one of the first new hot water heaters
top right = moving company truck. the moving guys were super.
i've also been able to enjoy some time with my grand daughter, Ariel.
hope you have a peaceful afternoon and evening.
