Nikias Skapinakis (1931-2020). Born in Lisbon, the city where he died in 2020, Nikias Skapinakis was a painter, draftsman and engraver, activities in which he maintained, throughout his life, a vast critical production. His choice for painting came after an initial choice for architecture.

Lawrence Alma-Tadema, The Roses of Heliogabalus (detail)

The painting measures 132.7 × 214.4 cm. It shows a group of Roman diners at a banquet, being swamped by drifts of pink rose petals falling from a false ceiling above. The Roman emperor Elagabalus reclines on a platform behind them, wearing a golden robe and a tiara, watching the spectacle with other garlanded guests. A woman plays the double pipes beside a marble pillar in the background, wearing the leopard skin of a maenad, with a bronze statue of Dionysus, based on the Ludovisi Dionysus, in front of a view of distant hills.

The painting depicts a (probably invented) episode in the life of the Roman emperor Elagabalus, also known as Heliogabalus, (204–222), taken from the Augustan History. Although the Latin refers to "violets and other flowers", Alma-Tadema depicts Elagabalus smothering his unsuspecting guests with rose petals released from a false ceiling.

Some info below: Yes, Felix (🇩🇪+🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇸) is an MTA operator, he also drives three commuter rail cabs through the Green Line. He serves the mainline, meaning he goes from Lechmere Square to Kenmore Square (termination process longer thanks to the GLX) Isaura… (🇬🇷+🇪🇸) you might notice something oddly familiar with her look… yeah, I'm coming clean with this. Although "physically" and I mean statuesquely, she might not really much resemble this character… but, she's actually a noticable homage, tribute in style and attire to Ms. Sasaki {佐々木母} (fmr Mrs. Oki, no first name revealed to my knowledge) from Kodomo no Omocha (animanga)

Also, another inspiration notice… Felix somewhat partially (based on stature and authentically) takes on from Gilbert Beilschmidt [Hetalia: Axis Powers]

miss the days you could show up on the docks without a penny to your name, wringing your hat in your hands and the captain of the ship would squint down at you and begrudgingly yell, “eh well, get on lad we need an extra set of hands” and you’d go aboard and set off to god knows where, but you wouldn’t care as long as it was away from here. it would be hard work — harder than anything you’d ever done in your life — your hands would turn raw and callused from the long days of labour at sea. but slowly you would earn the respect of not only the crew but the first mate and one day when the rest of the crew goes ashore to spend their pay, you and the first mate stay back to watch the ship and suddenly he’s looking at you like the sea isn’t the only thing he worships anymore.
