oh oh OH. the quiet looks of reserved indignation between natalie and milchick. the mutual understanding of racism, as Lumon's two Black employees, conveyed so subtly and realistically in a few glances. This place is not for them. It will never be for them. the highest honour they as Black Lumon employees can reach is their Black faces photoshopped onto a white man's story. Even the reward for their hard work is a crass false representation that only serves to underscore a white man's power, and remind them they exist to serve that power. Hats off to Sydney Cole Alexander and Tramell Tillman for such fantastic, subtle and moving work in this episode and perfectly portraying the downlow solidarity between Black people and people of colour in predominantly white workplaces.

my roommate @latr1nal1a and i were discussing this scene in s1ep3 where petey is talking to mark in his basement

he mentions a department that no one has been to before. a department where you aren't allowed to LEAVE.

he is CLEARLY talking about the testing floor, where they are keeping gemma!!!! she isn't allowed to leave!!!!!!

so. this has been established. petey somehow stumbled across the testing floor. which then means that he knows about the exports hall............

a big question i've had the entire time while watching this show is how the FUCK does outie irving know about the exports hall. it's the kind of information that only an innie could know, and clearly innie irving had no clue about it until the OTC when he saw all the paintings.

so. how does outie irving know? who told him?

my leading theory so far was that reghabi was irving's contact. she seems to be the one with the most knowledge about the things going on inside lumon, so it would make sense that she would be working with irving.

HOWEVER, now that we've realized that PETEY knows about the testing floor.............who's to say it wasn't petey who told irving about the hallway? having been reintegrated, petey would probably have sought out irving as well!

I'm gonna stop you right there and say no the fuck you won't. Elders dealing with age related health problems are not the same as young adults or even teens and children dealing with severe disability. They deserve respect and care, but they aren't trying to build a life and they got to experience a lot before life dropkicked them in the balls. They often have support networks built and families they can rely on as well as numerous organizations to help them with age related disability specifically.

So I’m listening to the Severance podcast, and they’re currently reviewing S1E2 rn. It reminded me of that bizarre interaction between Mark Scout and “Mrs. Selvig,” where she talks about her late husband.

The one where she tells Mark that before her husband died, he told her that he would begin constructing a house for them to share in the afterlife. She responded with “Well what happens if I find someone else down here?”. To which the late Mr. Selvig replied that he’ll just have to add on a little guest house to the back of the property for the fellow.
