Amelie stepped off the brightly lit stage at the River Plate Stadium, her heart pounding with the residual adrenaline of performing in front of thousands. The sound of screaming fans still echoed in her ears as the crew hustled around, breaking down the set. She’d just finished opening for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour, and the energy of the crowd had been electric. But even as she smiled and thanked the team backstage, her thoughts weren’t entirely on the performance. They were on the man waiting for her back at the hotel.

Amelie’s lips curled into a small, private smile as she pulled the towel from her neck and dabbed at the sweat on her forehead. Her body ached from the high-energy performance, her legs heavy from hours of dancing under the blistering lights. Yet, the thought of Lando made her pulse quicken in a different way. For the past three days, he had been tucked away in her hotel room, hidden from the world like a well-kept secret. It was risky, sure, but the thought of him being there—waiting for her—was a comfort she couldn’t resist.

The ride back to the hotel was quiet, her driver understanding her exhaustion as she leaned back in the seat, staring out at the Buenos Aires skyline. The city buzzed with life, and she couldn’t help but think about how much her life had changed in the past few weeks. Only a month ago, she and Lando had barely spoken in over a year, and now they were back in each other’s orbit, tangled in a web of emotions that neither of them seemed ready to define.

The elevator ride to her floor felt excruciatingly slow. Her body yearned for a shower, for her bed, and most of all, for him. She swiped her keycard and pushed open the door to her suite, her eyes immediately landing on Lando. He was sprawled on the couch, dressed in a pair of sweatpants and one of his oversized McLaren T-shirts, his damp curls suggesting he’d just showered. The glow from the TV cast soft shadows on his face, and he looked up at her with that boyish grin that made her heart skip every damn time.

—Hey, superstar,— he greeted, his voice warm and teasing.

—Hey, trouble,— she replied, kicking off her boots and dropping her bag by the door. —Been waiting long?—

—Only my whole life,— he quipped, standing and crossing the room to meet her halfway. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her into a tight embrace that made her sigh against his chest. He smelled like his cologne and her shampoo, a combination that was oddly comforting.

Amelie tilted her head back to look at him. —Missed me, huh?—

—Obviously,— he said, his accent making the word drawl slightly. —I’m stuck in here like a bloody prisoner while you’re out there living it up. Feels a bit unfair, doesn’t it?—

She laughed, the sound light and genuine as she pressed her hands to his chest. —You’re the one who insisted on coming here. Don’t complain now.—

Lando shrugged, a mischievous glint in his eye. —What can I say? I’m a glutton for punishment.— He leaned down, brushing his lips against hers in a way that was soft but carried the promise of something more.

Her fingers curled into his shirt, pulling him closer as she deepened the kiss. The exhaustion from the night seemed to melt away under his touch, replaced by the familiar heat that always simmered between them. But then, as if remembering herself, she pulled back, her lips quirking into a smirk.

—Let me shower first,— she murmured. —I’m disgusting.—

—I don’t mind,— he teased, but he let her go, watching her retreat to the bathroom with a look that made her stomach flip.

The hot water was a blessing, washing away the sweat and grime of the concert. As she stood under the spray, her mind wandered to Lando. To the way he looked at her, the way he touched her, and the way he made her feel like the center of his universe when they were together. It was almost overwhelming, the intensity of it all. But it was also addictive.

When she emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in a plush robe with her damp hair falling around her shoulders, she found Lando lying on the bed, scrolling through his phone. He looked up when she entered, his eyes softening in that way they always did when he saw her.

—You’re hogging the bed,— she said, climbing in next to him.

He smirked, setting his phone aside. —It’s a big bed, Ames. There’s plenty of room for you.—

Amelie rolled her eyes but settled beside him, her head resting on his chest as his arm came around her shoulders. They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the sound of his heartbeat steady under her ear.

—I can’t believe you actually came here,— she said softly, tracing patterns on his shirt with her finger. —You’re insane.—

Lando chuckled, his fingers idly running through her damp hair. —I think you already knew that. But, come on, Ames, how could I not? A week without seeing you was already torture. If I’d stayed away any longer, I might’ve gone mad.—

She smiled, her heart doing that annoying fluttery thing it always did when he said something sweet. —You’re lucky I didn’t get caught sneaking you in here. Taylor’s security team would’ve thrown both of us out.—

—Worth it,— he said with a grin, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. —Besides, I’m not exactly complaining about being stuck in a hotel with you. Could be worse places to hide out.—

Amelie tilted her head to look up at him, her fingers still tracing lazy circles over his chest. —You mean you don’t miss the chaos of the paddock? The cameras? The endless media questions?—

—Not when I’ve got you,— he said without missing a beat, his voice soft but teasing. —I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love the attention, but this? This is better.—

She laughed, shaking her head. —You’re so full of shit.—

—Maybe,— he admitted, his grin widening, —but you like me anyway.—

Amelie rolled her eyes, but the truth of his words settled somewhere deep inside her. She did like him, more than she probably should, given their history. But here they were, tangled up in each other’s lives again, unable to stay away despite all the reasons they shouldn’t.

She shifted, propping herself up on her elbow to get a better look at him. —You know, you’ve got a race next weekend. Shouldn’t you be, I don’t know, resting? Training? Doing whatever it is you racing drivers do?—

Lando shrugged, his free hand coming up to rest on her hip. —I’ve got my priorities straight. Besides, I’m already ahead of schedule. Being here with you is... good for me. Keeps me grounded.—

—Grounded?— she repeated, raising an eyebrow. —I’m pretty sure sneaking around in hotel rooms isn’t exactly what they mean by that.—

He smirked, his hand slipping under the hem of her robe to rest on her bare thigh. —Maybe not, but I’d argue it’s worth bending the rules for you.—

Her breath hitched at the feel of his touch, her body instinctively leaning into him. He had this way of making her forget everything else, of drawing her into his orbit until nothing else mattered. It was intoxicating, and she wasn’t sure she’d ever get used to it.

—You’re such a flirt,— she murmured, her voice quieter now as her fingers trailed along his jawline. —What am I going to do with you?—

Lando’s eyes darkened slightly, his grip on her thigh tightening just enough to make her heart race. —I can think of a few things.—

She laughed, the sound soft and breathless as she leaned down to kiss him. It started slow, her lips brushing against his in a way that was almost tentative, but it quickly deepened, the heat between them building as his hands found their way to her waist.

It was moments like this that reminded her why she’d let him back into her life. Despite everything—the heartbreak, the distance, the uncertainty—there was something undeniable about the way they fit together. Something that made all the risks feel worth it.

—You’re trouble, Norris,— she whispered against his lips, her hands tangling in his curls.

He grinned, his breath warm against her skin. —And you like it.—

Amelie pulled back just enough to look at him, her eyes searching his. —I don’t know what we’re doing, Lando. I don’t know where this is going.—

His expression softened, the teasing edge fading as he cupped her face in his hands. —Neither do I, Ames. But I know I don’t want to stop.—

For a moment, she just looked at him, her heart caught somewhere between fear and hope. Then she leaned in, kissing him again, letting herself get lost in him. Whatever this was—whatever they were—it was theirs. And for now, that was enough.

if your favourite driver is Lewis Hamilton...then i would recommend Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

the connection between this book and lewis is what inspired this whole post in the first place. a comeback story even if you have proven all there is to be proven? trying to beat all the odds against you even time? being an all-time champion AND an underdog? there are so many links that can be made between carrie and lewis not just with their careers and relationships but also what adversities they have had to face. idk but is this like manifesting that lewis is going to be "back" for his 8th wdc?

ah mr wannabe investigator (we all saw him checking out that redbull) but seriously there's something we grussell sprouts must enjoy about someone who seems so straight-laced and uptight be absolutely blatantly unhinged both on and off track. it's just so george to choose literal murder inquiry as a school project, from the ambition bordering on arrogance of believing a high schooler could do what the authorities couldn't to the genuine heartfelt sincerity in wanting the truth and to bring justice for those already deemed outcasts by society. he's OUR good girl that's not-so-secretly "bad".

my faves with my faves. mercedes aren't a national institution/emotion (ferrari), a team (red bull racing), a villains' lair (ashton martin) or a pop band (mclaren) but a family. a dysfunctional, awkward, barely concealed hot mess of a family, but family nonetheless. chasing victory while trying to survive the horrors of life and each other is the merc way and you will see the same in this trilogy. *toto voice* loyalty!

wow guys i don't know what to tell you except oscar JACK piastri, SON of nicole and chris piastri, might literally be percy JACKSON (i have connected the dots, you haven't connected shit). your guy might have had a former illustrious career in undertaking dangerous quests and asking greek gods to pay child support, you should check.

picked this based on vibes, just pure vibes but immaculate ones. the drama, the glitz, the glam yes but also the family, friendship, and love found within the pages of this series. this is british gossip girl. i am telling you there is a vision here people.

(+ bonus review because this might be the only book on this list that has less (3.84) than 4+ stars on goodreads and i can't do him and y'all dirty like that: i personally didn't love the first book but the series really comes together and you truly get invested in these characters and their happiness, actually pretty excited to read more.

wow like you think he didn't step out of a magical retelling of 1001 nights? mhm but let's leave aside the fact i am still not convinced otherwise. carlos this year has shown his insane mega ultra galaxy brain, so i believe the plot of the wrath & the dawn would be something that would resonate with you. the quick wit and guile of the mc as she tries to carry out a revenge plot while trying to not get executed is only comparable to carlos coming up with his own race strategy mid race and cementing himself as the only non-rbr race winner in 2023. wow.

if your favourite driver is Charles Leclerc...then i would recommend The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

he has that sadness in his eyes that you only see in tragic greek myths etc etc. i will have to say, achilles walked so charles leclerc could race. *soft longing sigh* il predestinato and aristos achaion, the predestined and the best of the greeks. beloveds born and bathed in golden light. it just makes sense to me.

i mean alex is a living-breathing romance novel of a man. BUT it hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows (helmut marko if i catch you). so i think any emily henry book but especially beach read captures the ups and downs of alex's journey so well compared to just any ole romcom (...but if i had to give one for the alex enjoyers then it would be Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter, coincidentally also george and alex coded lmao).

but was it his remarkable drive back to f1 or the recent holiday beach pics that was the reason behind this rec? i guess we will never know

So i was rewatching the hug between Lando and Martin before Las Vegas GP and i realised that during time when Lando was greeting Gordon and Holly Jon and Martin were hugging. That słone shows me how close Martin and Lando are if Jon who is so close to Lando is also close to Martin. I have feeling that it wasnt only during Miami weekend that Martin spend time in Lando driver room

Oh believe me, in like the hundred times I've watched that clip, I have definitely clocked the very brief exchange that Martin and Jon have half-off camera. It's truly a stark reminder of how much time they likely see each other when Martin's at the races even when he doesn't/can't show that he's with McLaren.

I had a bit of a falling off in February. It honestly frustrated and frightened me bc I’d done so well in January, and now suddenly “OoP i caNt reEAd oHH NoO” (I mean I couldn’t focus/stay interested to read substantially each day). Maybe it’s just the books themselves, or it’s my reading habits, or both. I’m gonna keep an eye on these and see what I can do to be more consistent with the time I put into reading. But ANYWAY, here’s what I finished in February:

On Stories by C.S. Lewis

One of my nonfiction reads for the month. As a writer and as someone who wants to get through more of Lewis’s fiction, it’s fascinating to get a look into his thoughts on literature and commentary on specific works (including Tolkien!). Yeah I’ve already started and am enjoying it.

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

This is a continuation. I think I got almost 50% into it, and while I’m not 100% sure I remember everything, I’m just gonna keep going. I want to like this book more than I am so far - I mean, enemies-to-lovers is my jam. But it has to be done in a certain way, and I’m not feeling the attraction-tension yet between the main couple. I’m also unsure if I’m even all that invested in said characters individually. But eh, let’s see how it goes.

City of Light, City of Poison by Holly Tucker

Another nonfiction pick! I really hope this has good pacing because the premise is so baller and should keep me interested. This is partly for research, but also it’s adjacent to my love of Les Miserables ... no I will not explain.

The Greenlanders by Jane Smiley

I just got this from a library book sale. I’ve heard of and been recommended to read Jane Smiley, but this will be my first foray. Nordic family historical drama? Yes please.

The Time Jesus Cursed by Peter Dellas

What a title! Yet another nonfiction read - I didn’t realize how many of these I squeezed into this month. It’s a commentary on the Book of Revelation that delves into the meanings of this apocalyptic text as it would have been understood by the readers of the late-1st century, early 2nd-century church. Feels appropriate to read close to Easter.

Post "QATAR AIRWAYS QATAR GRAND PRIX 2024" Points Theory

Holly Molly did Qatar not dissapoint at uniting the pundits and fans against the FIA and stewards. With all of the random penalities starting during qualifing and Maxs one place drop all the way through Lewis Drive thru and Landos Stop/Go. Not to mention all the on track crazyness that lead to 5 cars retiring (would have been more if Lewis had his way). Not to mention Lando paying Oscar back for Brazil and going against team orders to give him the Sprint Victory.

However, Max took the lead from turn 1 and it was never in doubt even when Lando was pushing him because we know Max will not go wheel to wheel. But the rest of the field had a handfull of recovery drives, ZHOU getting his and Subers first point scoring finish, and a unfinished Constructor title.

Looking at the points to 12th model we can see that Lando/Mclaren are not free from Charles/Ferrari in this version either, Valtteri finishing in 11th final would get him on the board, Zhou in 8th would now have 7 (could finish higher then Liam at this point). Williams, Vcarb, Haas, and Alpine are also going all the way to the end to decide the order...and each keeping having half of the garage not finish.

In this Points to 20th model its wrapped with Mclaren winning since even if Ferrari finish 1-2 they wouldnt surpass Mclarens overall. Aston, Haas, VCARB, and Alpine are all still stuggling for position and Abu Dhabi better deliver a banger race from everyone to cap off the season.

A-T-4 041 Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Frankie's debut single Relax was released in late October 1983, the single had been hovering about the lower end of the charts until FGTH made an appearance on Top Of The Pops in early January 1984, the following week Relax entered the top ten. This led to Radio 1 DJ Mike Read clutching his pearls and refusing to play Relax in a live rant on his show (it'd already been played on the BBC almost 100 times and as I've mentioned they'd performed the song on the BBC's flagship youth show TOTPs). I remember the Mike Read meltdown, it was very funny. The 12” version of The Power Of Love features Chris Barrie doing an impersonation of Mike Read banning Relax on air. Unlike todays BBC the company backed their employee and banned the single (Kid Jensen, Janice Long, and John Peel didn't observe the ban) sending it to number 2 on the singles chart then the following week, 24th January 1984, Relax hit the number 1 spot. Relax was in the UK singles chart for a total of 52 weeks

The fashion statement of 1984 was the “Frankie Say…” T-shirt based on Katherine Hamnett’s slogan T-shirts. From Wikipedia “In 1984, ZTT's Paul Morley designed a series of "FRANKIE SAY..." T-shirts to promote the record label's chart act Frankie Goes to Hollywood (FGTH). Morley has stated that these designs were consciously based on Hamnett's slogan T-shirts: "What persuaded me was reading Katharine Hamnett saying she wanted the T-shirts ripped off, which reminded me of Mark P, saying he wanted Sniffin' Glue to be ripped off. And I mean, I did a fanzine, so when I read that I thought, great, fanzine T-shirts!" The official FGTH designs were particularly successful, and spawned many imitations of their own.”

Mike Reads gift establishing them as liberated right wrong uns worked its magic for all the subsequent singles off of their debut album Welcome To The Pleasuredome. FGTH's second single Two Tribes goes straight to number 1, Relax was still in the charts and headed back into the top ten, at one point Two Tribes is number 1 and Relax is number 2. Two Tribes was the longest-running number-one single in the UK of the 1980s spending 9 weeks at number 1. It has a killer bassline

Two Tribes was heavily promoted. The band were dressed as members of the Red Army which is a stunt Malcom McLaren had tried with the New York Dolls a decade earlier. As I’m mentioned before ZTT’s aesthetic borrowed heavily from Russian Constructivism and Italian Futurism (Zang Tumb Tumb being a sound poem by founding futurist and later co-author of the Italian fascist manifesto Filippo Tommaso Marinetti). Fashion had been flirting with Nazi and Soviet symbolism since the 1970s by the mid 1980s it was kinda mainstream, by then we were seeing socialist realism being reappropriated like it is ‘a little confusingly’ on the sleeve of Two Tribes, well the one that isn’t the screen shot from the video
