The history of the Krampus was greatly assisted by Christmas cards. The classic Krampus image of a goat-hoofed, devil-tongued monster was reinforced with each "Gruss von Krampus" card that was sent.

Krampus in Austria traditionally appeared on the night of December 5th (the night before the Feast of St. Nicholas).

Hello there! This is my fourth post here on Tumblr and it is of my watercolour project that I worked on in my twelfth-grade art class. The theme was to create an art piece showcasing a holiday/holiday custom. I found a photograph on the internet of a Waldburg Castle Jester that I used as a reference for the second attempt of my watercolour project. While searching the internet about the Swabian-Alemannic Fastnacht (a pre-Lenten carnival of Alemannic folklore in Switzerland, southern Germany, Alsace, and Vorarlberg), I found photos of the Waldburg Castle Jesters amongst other costumed individuals. I am not positive as to whether or not the group participate in the Swabian-Alemannic Fastnacht, but their images appeared in my search results, and I ended up using one of the photos as my reference. I am unsure as to who the photo belongs to, but all credit for the photograph goes to them; I only created a watercolour art piece referencing the photograph. This is the fourth project I worked on in my twelfth-grade art class, and even though it was my second attempt at using watercolour, it didn't turn out too bad.
