This is maybe a bit specific and maybe a self roast but I want an ED storyline for Stevie. I think we have a lot of the ‘I want to be thinner’ ED stories on TV but after everything that’s happened to her over the last few years I wanna see an ED storyline where the person at the centre has always previously been confident about their attractiveness and body.

I just think it would be so interesting to see her give into the chaos of the department and it’s fine because ‘we all skip lunch every now and again’ and then she stops eating breakfast and she can’t explain why and then she starts to skip dinner the nights that she has a really hard day and then she starts to lose a bit of weight and someone notices and mentions it and she brushes it off. Maybe faith starts offering her snacks assuming it’s just because she’s busy. Maybe Dylan notices he’s seen her all the times she should have eaten that day and she’s not eaten anything at all.

Basically I just really want to see that conversation where someone asks her if she thinks she looks better like this because she actually just looks gaunt and she’s worrying everyone and have her shout that it’s not about being thin it’s about having control over something. Stevie’s had so many things happen TO her, completely out of her control, in quite a short space of time and I feel like this would make so much sense for her!

And then I want to see a realistic recovery where she doesn’t just get sent to an inpatient facility because that very rarely happens irl. I want her frustration and her friends having to be the bad guy and make her eat, I want to see the logistical difficulty of making sure she gets a lunch break when she’s on shift and the arguments about random food stuff like the brand of yogurt she’s eating and I want to see her fall out with her therapist. I just wanna see it😩

Harry had been thinking about the hospital he had worked at a while ago. He had been asked about going back there. At the same time, he was also asked about working at a hospital in London. Now he had a choice to make. At Holby City ED, there had been the whole thing about him going to the media about something that had gone on in the department with one of the doctors and the big bosses were trying to hide the truth. He wanted the truth to be out for the sake of that doctor and he resigned from his job there before they could fire him for doing what he did. Now those big bosses no longer worked there and he had been asked to come back as well. Then there was this hospital in London.

He decided on the London hospital. At least for now. His two older daughters, Tally and Kizzy had moved out and leading their own lives, his sons Jordan and Ollie were in uni so they had recently moved out and his youngest daughter, Daisy was 7 years old and at school in the day, and looked after by the childminder if he was working. It seemed odd going from a house full to just himself and Daisy now. Parking his car, he headed inside. New place of work, yet same position of being the one in charge of the Emergency department. He had taking his stuff up to his office before coming back down and introducing himself. He had no idea what was going to be in store for his first day here.

Holby ED Pokemon assignments

because i've been super in a casualty mood recently so here are my hcs for which pokemon each of the characters would have, I’m just having fun please feel free to disagree with me

Dylan - Stoutland

this is so obvious to me it's like a small Dervla. Small, a little grumpy but good at rescuing people and extremely trustworthy

Jodie - Buneary

I feel like it kind of looks like her a tiny bit? Small and cute but still tough and energetic, maybe to help her with comforting patients too?

Rash - Torchic

Being real, Delphox was my initial choice for Rash. I'm still considering it, especially as such a smart pokemon. But then I really kept thinking about it and settled on Torchic, which always seems like a p perfect companion for any doctor especially because they're warm when you hold them. I think they'd be good for comforting during anxiety attacks as well

Faith - Altaria and Kadabra

This one has Faith vibes, it's got that blue-theme I associate her with and I feel like Faith would really benefit from having a pokemon that could chat with her. I also think she'd have a Kadabra to help her with various bits of her work.

Iain - Luxray

I read a post once about how good a Luxray would be for someone with PTSD because they're good at spotting danger for you. I feel like Luxray is the right mixture of calming and reassuring for Iain, and he'd feel safe with it

Cam - Ralts

Like with Jodie I just feel like it kind of has his vibe/hair, yknow? I could see him carrying Ralts around and having it help with patients

Jacob - Dedenne

This fits the big tough guy with tiny cute animal vibes, but I feel like Jacob would really thrive with a pokemon that's a little bit playful and cheeky and could hide in his coat

Jan - Deino

Again, it just has Jan VIBES. Small but tough and feisty. I feel like Jan has the patience to work with a tiny bitey dinosaur that keeps trying to gnaw on her until it warms up to her.

Ngozi - Sylveon

Ngozi is always absolutely fantastic at calming patients down, I love her a lot and I feel like she's both the perfect person to have evolved a Sylveon in the first place, and the perfect person to have a pokemon who could assist her. It's also super elegant and Ngozi is so graceful too.

Nicole - Cubchoo

I wish I had an explanation for this one, it just gives off Nicole vibes for me. I feel like she found a Cubchoo on the side of the road one day and immediately decided that it had to come home with her because it's so cute

Rida - Oshawott and Eevee

I feel like Oshawott is her main pokemon because they're inquisitive, innovative and friendly. Rida feels very water themed to me, and I feel like Oshawott would be the perfect companion for her both on the wards and at home.

I also see her having an Eevee because she's had to constantly adapt to new things/new roles to play in the ED. She'd defo carry her Eevee around with her (it'd be more friendly than her Oshawott I feel - her friends can play with Eevee easier)

Siobhan - Drampa (and probably Charizard)

I went back and forth between Drampa and Charizard for ages but ultimately I feel like Sionhan has a no-nonsense pokemon that's still incredibly compassionate and kind. Drampa is incredibly compassionate and kind with people and defensive of people who need it

Stevie - Absol and Mawile

Absol is a pokemon that shows up to warn people of disaster, but people used to think that they caused the disaster. I like that, and I feel like it's a neat twist that fits Stevie and the fact she so often ends up at the scene of disaster (like with Ethan getting attacked) but genuinely being good.

Mawile is my second chance for her because, like, look at it. That's a Stevie pokemon.

Tariq - Leafeon

This one is just vibes, I feel like it suits him so much. I couldn't tell you why. Maybe it's the energy levels matching his?

Teddy - Teddiursa with a bonus Audino!

I mean. It's called Teddi of course Teddy would have to have one. I can totally see it wandering around the ambulance between patients and hopping up onto people.

Bonus of an Audinio for Teddy because I feel like it'd be a great disability support Pokemon for Teddy. They have really good hearing so they'd be able to hear if his heartrate needed attention, and they're a medical pokemon so they're perfect for the job.

Hey how are you what is your favourite casualty episode and who is your favourite character and what is your favourite story line

Hi Anon! I'm great thank you, lovely to see a casualty question :) Also very difficult to decide on these haha but I'll list these:

Favourite Casualty episode: Hmmmmm I have a couple, but I think it's when Ethan and Cal find their birth mother, and find out that she has Huntington's disease. Mainly because this episode was so emotional, but also because Ethan and Cal had so many ups and downs and then had a small moment of clarity together. It was just such a good storyline all round as well. Other special mentions are Zoe and Max's wedding episode, Lofty's entire storyline and S34 E38, when Ethan has a breakdown at Holby Comic Con.

Favourite Character: Okay so I think my blog answers this one haha but currently it's Cam :) But my other favourites are Rash, Dylan and Sah!

Favourite Storyline: Okay, difficult one again. I was on the edge of my seat with Rash's gang violence storyline, mainly because I was terrified he'd get killed. But also Ollie's shooting story was so emotional, so those two were intensely interesting to see and got me screaming. But I think for my favourite storyline like a happy one, I really liked Charlie and Duffy getting together and spending time together, but I weeped at their ending. Happiness doesn't last long in the ED.

So er Snake in the ED was a slightly funny episode at times (I don't know the episode's actual name and don't care it's Snake in the ED now)

The title is "Once Bitten", but I love "Snake in the ED"! Oh, the things that hospital has seen... now including a snake. 😂 (Well, they've probably had snakes before, I assume, given Casualty's been running for so long - and Holby did as well - but this is the first time that I can think of.)

There was definitely some great comedy. Particularly with Cam and Jodie - they were an excellent duo, some of their scenes were hilarious. (And as always, I loved Donna and Dylan!)

Turns out my favourite brand of Holby doctor is unhinged bitch who was traumatised by Holby ED and is going to exact revenge in whichever way she deems most suitable only to find the part of herself yearning for revenge healed by the loving care and support of the team around her. It just so happens the range of this revenge swings from ‘making the department a safer place’ (Connie) to ‘shanking one of the members of staff’ (Stevie)

80s Casualty Updates:

This is the last series I’ll be able to call it that, we’re up to 1989. I started series 4 tonight but I’ve also just finished series 3, it took me a while even though it’s the shortest one.

First of all, THE OPENING HAS CHANGED!!?!?!?!?!? Same music, different stuff happening…….. feel like I’ve lost another beloved series 1 character. This new opening isn’t half as cool as the old one.

I also think they have dropped the idea of Casualty being focussed on the night shift of Holby’s ED, which I figured was gonna happen eventually considering the show isn’t currently focused on the night shift but I feel like that’s another character I’ve lost. The spirit of it all happening in the middle of the night, and them having house parties in the morning, is lost.

On that note, RIP Ewart and goodbye Kuba, I’m heartbroken about both of them.

Goodbye some others as well! Ewart and Kuba stick out because they were just series 1 but I really, really do find myself wishing the early series were longer so we had more time with the good characters they had back then. I wish they could pick some of them up and drop them into series 38.

So, there’s a bunch of new characters and I’m not sure how I feel about them. Need more time with them. Need to dwell on them a little.

Why does Charlie have so much game? I do not like that this man has managed to get with three beautiful women already. In my head, he has always been 70 even if I can see with my eyes that he isn’t. There’s been Baz, Karen and now Valerie, and I don’t get how he’s managing this.

TED HAS LEFT MEGAN!!!?!?!?!?!??? Bros………

This episode has a car accident that reminded me of the one that happened in Trauma.

connie goes into her office and then elle goes in like "hiya!" and connie's like "my goldfish has been murdered." JSJFSHJGHJ

connie says she's going to find out who murdered mrs b and elle says that whoever it was replaced her because they didn't want connie to find out which means they have a guilty conscience so they should just wait until they reveal themselves and connie's like "that is petty, vindictive... and i love it." ethan gets called away and alicia tries to give leigh-anne a prescription for kiegan but she's like "can't get rid of me fast enough, can you?" "excuse me?" "ethan wants me out of here doesn't he?"

"i was in a bad place when scott died in here. then kiegan comes along soon after. next thing i know, half my life's being spent in holby ed!" only because you won't leave????? and because you keep bringing kiegan in when he doesn't need to be there??????

"the ellissons were right, this place is dangerous." alicia's like "the ellissons? what, scott ellisson? he's kiegan's father?" and leigh-anne says she wants to make a complaint against ethan for "improper relations with a patient" girl just the other week you were saying he didn't do anything wrong and trying to tell everyone??? i mean she's not actually wrong she absolutely does have grounds for a complaint but the fact that she came in asking for him to treat kiegan and is only just saying that now makes it SO obvious that she's just trying to punish him for breaking up with her and not treating kiegan or something rather than for the fact they actually had a relationship in the first place. alicia's horrified😭

sam says she prefers "life on the open road" and it's much better than being trapped in the ed. but she didn't want to stop being a doctor and become a paramedic instead, did she?

alicia's clearly about to try telling him about eddie again so when he says he hates them keeping secrets from each other she doesn't realise that he is ALSO gearing up to reveal a secret. i guess she assumes he's talking about leigh-anne? as in the secret that she already found out that day? and he doesn't realise that she's gearing up too. he just manages to start speaking first though🙃

i firmly believe that her reaction wouldn't have been quite so bad if it weren't for eddie. like ethan's the only person she's tried to tell, she clearly trusts him more and feels more safe around him than she does anyone else, so him telling her that right as she was preparing to tell him about eddie just kinda piles a new load on top of her and probably makes her wonder whether she was right to trust him so much, which makes her wonder if she's lost the only person she felt she could tell, and she's definitely lost the moment to tell him (AGAIN) :(

so i was just looking up the date of this ep and the date of ethan's crossover to holby to see how long it was after he mentioned gaskell (it was about 3 weeks btw) and the description for this episode on wikipedia says that "ethan confess[es] to alicia that he murdered scott". hmm joking about him being a murderer is one thing but writing that like it's actually what happened is incredibly annoying. bc then you get people who've just read this to remind them what happened instead of actually rewatching trying to use that as a genuine criticism.
