JESSE TLOU x F!READER

Word count: 4483
Summary: it's hard to stay mad at Jesse especially when things get heated at the town party
Warnings: mentions of drinking/being drunk, unwanted groping, mentions of violence against women (sorta), some curse words?, jealous!jesse, overprotective!jesse, some mentions of kissing but mostly fluff
A/n: Another fanfic with ideas from a couple different request! Thanks soooo much for interacting and requesting! I'm so excited for tonight's episode but also nervous because of what might be coming soon 😬 anyyyyways enjoy and ily <3

You walk pass Jesse as you entered the town party, hearing the band playing an old country song. You see him out of the corner of your eye, but make a point to not make eye contact with him, feeling proud of yourself for staying strong against his charms after five full days; a new personal record.
It all started with an argument over something you did while out on patrol. Long story short, you had went against the nonexistent manual that he and Tommy often referred to. You expected your boyfriend Jesse to let it go, maybe speak to you about it later in the privacy of his bedroom. But your commanding officer Jesse had to hash it out right then and there, in front of the rest of the crew, using you as an example of what not to do.
Needless to say, by the time you and the others were dismissed you were pissed. He knew it, judging by the arms crossed tightly across your chest and the way you chewed at your cheek, avoiding his eyes. But what pissed you off more was when he tried to reach out and touch you after everyone had left; as if he hadn't completely embarrassed you.
You left him standing completely dumbfounded at the stables after returning your horse. Later that same day he had come knocking on your door and you refused to answer.
Over the next days when you saw him in town, you turned the other direction or completely ignored him. It was difficult to say the least, especially when you would catch his sad puppy dog eyes staring at you.
He didn't have to be a rocket scientist to know you were mad. He knew that you had a right to be but he also had a duty to keep people alive outside of the walls of Jackson. That means going over any things that should not have happened out there, for everyone's safety. It also meant inadvertently pissing his girlfriend off.
Which brings you to now as you moved pass him in your pretty sun dress with your hair bouncing. It was the only dress you owned and you often pulled it out for town parties or special occasions; but it still managed to take Jesse's breath away like the first time he had seen it.
You grabbed the hand of a friend you'd made on patrols, dragging her to the bar, giggling the whole way before taking two shots of brown liquor. It burned your throat but after another two shots you were ready to dance with the help of the liquid courage.
You knew he was watching you; you could always tell when you had his attention.
On the other side of the room Jesse couldn't help but smile as he watched you and your friend, both holding the hand of a younger boy, bringing him out of his shell and making him dance. After some time you gave a triumph smile as he gave in grabbing another kids arm, making them dance too.
Jesse admired that you had that kind of infectious energy and personality that lit up any room. It was exactly what these parties needed, allowing everyone to let loose and relax, especially after the hard winter.
He moved to the bar, getting himself a beer and stood next to Ellie who was also sitting on the sidelines, watching Dina dance.
"She's having a good time" Ellie smiled, nodding at you who had now picked up a little girl with pigtails and was spinning her around, dipping her dramatically to the music and earning a toothy grin. "The kids really love her"
"Yeah" Jesse sighed taking a sip from his beer, nodding as he watched you. His heart swelled at the sight of you giggling with the little girl. Especially when the little one was reaching up and playing with your hair, "She's got a way with them"
Ellie clocked his somber expression, bumping her elbow into his side, "What's with you two anyway?"
"It's complicated" Jesse said carefully, pretty sure she had already heard from you. After the 1st day of not talking to Jesse you'd managed to vent to all of your friends.
"Complicated?" Ellie hummed, taking a drink and rolling her eyes up at him, "Or you just fucked up?"
"Fucked up" He responded simply, shifting against the bar as he watched you sit the little girl down and make a beeline for them.
"Hi Ellie" You gushed, drunkenly pulling her in for a hug. You were smiling ear to ear with a glow to your skin from the sweat, "Come dance with me–"
"I don't dance," Ellie smiled, sharing a look with Jesse as you freed her from the hug, "I'm sure Dina will dance with you"
You sigh, rolling your eyes at her before looking around. For the first time in five days you were standing right in front of Jesse, looking up at his brown eyes.
Fuuuuuuck, he looked good.
You look away, down at his hand before snatching the drink from him and gulping the beer down. He watches you, teeth fidgeting with his bottom lip as you hand the now empty cup back to him, "Can we talk?"
The music was loud, but not loud enough to block out the tone of his voice. Sweet and desperate.
You shake your head, picking the hair up and off your neck in an attempt to cool down, catching the way Jesse's eyes linger on the exposed sweaty skin before looks away.
You were glad your hands were occupied, otherwise you would've reached out and grabbed him. The dark shirt was hugging his muscles just right and something about the way he was leaning against the bar was making your mouth go dry. For a half second you thought about letting your anger go, but you had to be strong.
You leaned over to Ellie, thinking you were whispering, but only talking really loud next to her ear, "Can you tell him I'm ignoring him because he's an asshole"
"Sure thing" Ellie chuckled at your behavior as she and Jesse watched you dance away, finding your friend in the crowd again. "She said she's still mad because you're an asshole—"
"Yeah Ellie— thanks I heard" Jesse quipped back sarcastically, staring at the lip stain on the rim of his empty glass before setting it on the counter behind him. "I hate this"
"Well maybe treat her as a girlfriend next time—" Ellie joked, proving you had definitely been talking her ear off on patrol, "–not one your soldiers or whatever"
Back on the dance floor, you'd nearly tripped as you found your friend again, only she was dancing with a guy who you hadn't recognized. Jackson was constantly bringing in new people, refugees seeking shelter. You couldn't recall his name but you knew he had only been in the gates about a week. But you didn't care as you joined them.
From the sidelines Jesse had set his jaw, watching the guy move close to you under the low lights. He prided himself on not being a jealous boyfriend, after all you had always been faithful to him but he couldn't help the bubbling in his chest at the way you laughed with the guy.
Ellie didn't say anything now, she could tell it was bothering him. Instead she ordered Jesse another drink and handed it to him.
He watches the way your dress balloons out at the bottom as you spin around the guys finger, giggling innocently as you nearly fall over. You were definitely drunk, but you were having fun.
As you came back to your footing and the room stopped spinning you found Jesse against the bar. Judging by the look on his face, you had him right where you wanted him.
"I'll be right back" You mumbled to your friend, feeling the guys hand on the small of your back, but choosing to ignore it as you made your way back to Jesse.
This time he was already holding his fresh drink out to you, which you took, ignoring the spark of his fingers against yours as you did, "Having fun?"
"Mhmm" You nodded, bringing the cup to your lips and sipping on it, keeping eye contact with him as you did. "Are you?"
He gave you a tight lipped smile, one that told you everything you needed to know even in your drunken haze.
He leaned down toward you, breath fanning over your ear and his fingertips just barely grazing your elbow, "Why don't you let me walk you home?"
Your head spun, this time from the feeling of him close to you, closer than he'd been in days. Between his voice and touch you nearly forgot what you were mad about in the first place.
When he moved back against the bar you had to shake your head, taking another sip of the drink and collecting the drops from your lips with a slide of your tongue.
"Nope, I'm having fun dancing"
"With that Seth guy" Jesse nodded curtly, looking over your shoulder, seeing Seth's hands sliding down your friends back and resting on her ass.
"So you're watching me," You hum, still staring up at him as he reached out and took the cup back from you, setting it on the bar, "What are you jealous?"
You hadn't realized that his fingertips were still on your elbow, helping keep you steady until you moved closer to him, crossing your arms, challenging him.
"Why would I be jealous?" His eyes seem to darken as they flicker over your features, "You're my girlfriend"
You leaned toward him, teasing him as you poked your fingers into his chest, before rocking back on your heels, "I wouldn't be so sure"
He couldn't even ask what that meant before you were turning around and leaving. You nearly tripped on your own feet headed back to your friend and the guy, who you now knew was Seth.
Jesse hadn't even realized Ellie was still standing beside him until she cleared her throat, "Well that was fuckin' awkward"
Jesse didn't care to respond as he crossed his arms over his broad chest, eyes not leaving your back as you were welcomed back into their little dance circle. Your friend had attempted to whisper something to you, with a strange look in her eyes but you weren't listening.
The only thing you were interested in now was making Jesse jealous.
Jesse watched your friend try one more time to get your attention before walking off, leaving you with Seth. The guy didn't seem to notice or care as he moved to you, hands finding your waist.
"You gonna do something about that?" Ellie asked as Dina came and slid her arm around her girlfriend's waist.
"Not yet" Jesse shifted against the bar, tightening his crossed arms, eyes trained on you, "I trust her"
Dina took a drink of Ellie's beer before leaning into her shoulder and talking loud over the music so he could hear, "You can trust her all you want, but it won't change the fact that she's drunk and he's been handsy with every girl that's danced with him tonight"
The band was playing an upbeat song that you could feel in your chest, the people around you were all having a good time and you could still see Jesse, arms crossed and staring. The night was perfect, and your goal of making him jealous was definitely working.
"Your friend didn't like me very much" Seth had mumbled in your ear before taking your hand and spinning you again. His breath was hot and made you feel exactly opposite of when Jesse had done it only minutes ago.
The lights blurred together and then you were stopped abruptly, stumbling into Seth's chest. You giggled, steadying yourself on his shoulders, before realizing your friend had left.
All the drinks and spinning suddenly hit. Feeling like the world was crashing into your shoulders. Your head hurt and you wanted to go home.
"Thanks for the dance" You offered a polite smile, when the band finished the song. Another one started to play as you moved to walk away, suddenly feeling a grasp on your wrist before being tugged back over.
The sudden force surprised you as you crashed against his chest, where he had moved his hands to your back to keep you tight against him.
"I'm gonna go find my friend" You said, still conjuring a smile, wondering if you were reading the situation wrong in your drunken state.
"Why don't you dance with me a little while longer? I really like this dress" The guy had moved one of his hands to touch the strap of your dress, sliding his finger under it. You recoiled as best you could against him, suddenly feeling your head spin again. "I'm not used to seeing girls all dolled up. You don't see a lot of pretty women out there, it's been months—"
"Look I—I have a boyfriend" Your words were slurring due to your state and nerves settling in. The people around you were too busy dancing to see what was going on. The room was spinning and your breaths were coming out weird, "I'm gonna go find him"
"Come on don't be like that—," One of his hands made its way down towards the bottom of your dress, "You don't have to play hard to get sweetheart, I'm real easy–"
When you felt his hand dip low and grope you, it shocked your senses, sobering you up. Before you could comprehend what was happening, you were pushing him away with as much force as you could muster. It was enough to get out of his grip. You spun around, trying to get away from him when you smacked right into a hard chest.
"You okay?" Jesse had his hands cupping your shoulders, holding you steady. You nodded up at him, tears stinging your eyes before he moved around you.
"Is there a problem pretty lady?" Seth asked after gathering his footing from where you shoved him. "We were just starting to get to know each other, have some fun—"
Ellie and Dina stood on either side of you behind Jesse. You wrapped your arms around your body, now feeling weirdly exposed.
"Don't talk to her" Jesse warned, moving closer. At this point the band had stopped and a crowd of people formed a circle.
"What are you the welcome committee?" The guy asked, shifting his weight looking like he was sizing up Jesse.
"What's your deal man?"
"Oh nothing guy, I was just having a conversation with the pretty lady here and she freaked out" Seth laughed, peering around Jesse's shoulder to catch a glimpse of you again before rolling his eyes, now addressing the people around him, "Didn't know all the ladies in this town were such prudes"
"Fuck you" Dina said, moving pass Jesse to go at the guy. He moved his arm out, holding her back, "You're a pervert"
"There's no such thing in this day and age sweetheart," Seth laughed again only this time it had a sinister tone, "It's the Wild West out there, didn't you hear? Us men can do whatever they want—"
"–You're fucking disgusting" Dina added as Jesse gently pushed her back, away from the guy and to Ellie.
Before Jesse could open his mouth, Seth was talking again, "That's okay baby, you and your little friend in the dress are bitches anyways, if I caught you both out there you wouldn't be so mouthy, give you something to suck o—"
Jesse's fist connected with Seths nose in a powerful blow, cutting him off.
He stumbled back, his hand flying to his face as blood began to pour. His expression one of shock and anger as he lunged forward at Jesse. His eyes were narrowed and determined, but he never stood a chance against Jesse who was well trained in hand to hand combat. Before Seth even attempted to cock his arm back Jesse was sending another blow to his side. This time hard enough that he doubled over on the dance floor.
The crowd was shocked, everyone knew Jesse was a strong guy but he had always been a gentle giant, always opting for the 'let's talk about it' path.
Tommy and Maria suddenly appeared from the crowd, the look of disappointment present on their faces. The party was ruined, but Jesse didn't care, instead he kneeled down next to the Seth on the ground, gathering the blood soaked collar of his shirt and pulling him up. "You just earned yourself a one way ticket out of this town"
"He's dangerous to have around our people, our women—" Jesse let him go, pushing him hard back against the ground before standing and looking to Tommy, "He leaves tonight"
Tommy shifted his weight, looking between the bloody guy on the floor and Jesse, someone he trusted like a son.
"You can't do that" Seth whined, holding his broken nose on the floor.
"We can," Maria answered for Tommy, after seeing your body language and the way Jesse stared at the guy on the ground. It was all they needed to know; that Jesse did what he did in defense of you, "Pack your shit up, you have 15 minutes"
Jesse nodded to Tommy and Maria before turning around toward you. You still had your arms crossed tight around you, looking like you wanted to disappear when he held his hand out to you.
You took it, immediately lacing your fingers with his and allowing him to guide you out of the building.
The summer air was cool now that the sun had set. You didn't say anything for a long time, watching your feet as you walked along the dirt roads out of town and towards the houses. The path was dimly lit, the full moon providing all the light you would need. You could see your house a couple feet away when Jesse spoke.
"Are you okay?"
You nodded, not trusting your voice entirely.
"I'm sorry about the other day," Jesse said, running his thumb over your hand, "I shouldn't have called you out like that in front—"
"It's okay" You interrupted, shaking your head slightly, suddenly feeling silly for causing such a pointless argument, when he stood up for you like that.
"No, it's not. I shouldn't have been so hard on you, especially in front of everyone like that," He brought your intertwined hands up to his mouth before pressing a kiss to your skin, "I was being an asshole"
"No, just forget about it," You sighed, shaking your head slowly to avoid making your head spin again, "It was stupid. I was being stupid"
Jesse opened his mouth to say something but you continued, "I wanted to mess with you; get drunk, make you jealous but I ruined the night and that guy—"
Your voice cracked as drunken tears started to spill from your eyes. Jesse stopped walking, turning and catching your face in his hands, "Hey–hey look at me, you didn't ruin anything"
"The committee spent so much time putting that together and then I go and cause a scene–and ruin it. The band is probably mad at me for interrupting their set and Tommy and Maria—"
Jesse had to smile at your drunken rambling. His hands moving from your face to pull you against his chest and hold you there.
"You didn't do anything wrong. That guy ruined it," Jesse said simply, rubbing the back of your head, fingers playing with your hair, "He should've never of touched you—or any of the women here"
"He was a creep" You said quietly, feeling the ghost of his rough hand grabbing you again, "If you wouldn't have stepped in, I don't know what—"
"Shh," Jesse whispered, letting you go so he could hold your shoulders and look at you better, "I'll always protect you, inside and outside of the gates, okay?"
"Even if we're fighting over something stupid?" You asked with a pout, staring up at him with wet eyes.
"Always," He hummed, pressing a kiss to your forehead, "Besides, that'll give the town something to talk about for the next couple weeks"
You nodded, ghost of a smile on your lips as he grabbed your hand again, guiding you up to your front door. He was right, nothing interesting ever happened in town, so this night would be the star of conversations for the foreseeable future.
Once in the bedroom, he helped you out of your shoes before lifting the dress up your body and over your head with ease. He had tossed it onto the floor, leaving you standing in your bra and underwear, while he opened one of your drawers to get you a shirt to sleep in. You yawned, shivering slightly as the alcohol still coursed through your body.
He had turned, holding the shirt in his hand and muttering a curse word when his foot rammed into something in the dark. You'd barely acknowledged it because once he was standing back in front of you holding up the shirt, ready to slide it over your head, you leaned and kissed him.
With your lips locked on his, you found the shirt in his hands and threw it behind him. He laughed into the kiss, letting his free hands slide down the skin of your sides. His touch alone was sending you into a spiral despite how tired you were.
"It's time for bed" He mumbled against your lips and you felt like your knees were going to buckle.
"I'm not tired" You giggled, nibbling at his lip.
"I could've sworn I heard you yawning"
"Wasn't me" You lied, moving your arms around his neck and pulling him down toward you.
"Mhmm" He hummed against your lips again. His big, calloused hands found the back of your thighs and squeezed ever so slightly, before scooping you up. Your legs locked around his waist and he smiled against you. You'd both been deprived of each other's touch for the couple days that you were ignoring him.
You felt him walking as you slid your tongue against his lips, begging for him to let you in. You hadn't even realized he was tossing you on the bed until you bounced slightly off the mattress. You whined at the loss of contact immediately. Of course, you stopped when you saw him fidgeting with the button on his jeans and kicking his boots off.
"I've been dreaming of this for five days" You hummed, biting your lip as you watched him slide his jeans off and pull his shirt over his head.
"What stopped you?" He teased, and even though it was dark in the room you could see that dumb little smirk on his lips.
"My dignity," You sighed, tired of waiting for him. You reached out and grabbed at his hand, yanking it toward you. "Five days, new record"
Jesse only chuckled, shaking his head and moving to hover over you on the bed, careful not to put all of his weight on you. You didn't waste time, reattaching your lips and kissing him hard, immediately sliding your tongue back where it had been previously, this time he let you in. His arms held him up on either side of you, trapping you under him as your mouths moved in sync, tongues tangling together. You moaned against his lips frustrated that he was holding back and not touching you.
You bucked your hips up toward him, barely grazing his boxers as you moved to shimmy your underwear down, but he stopped you, finally touching you, but not in the way that you were craving. Instead, he moved your hand up and away from your underwear. When you whined he smirked against you, suddenly rolling and dropping down on the bed beside you.
In one motion he had pulled the blankets up and over both of you, as he settled into the pillows.
"What're you doing?" You huffed, as he got comfortable beside you.
"Going to sleep" He said softly, moving closer to you and draping his arm over your stomach as you lay on your back.
"You're joking right?" You asked, staring at the ceiling, feeling your excitement for him gathering between your legs.
He leaned up on his elbow, finding your lips in the dark and kissing you again, soft and slow, enough to make you squeeze your thighs together, "You're drunk and tired"
"You're so annoying," You let out an involuntary yawn, rolling your eyes at him, "No makeup sex? That's the best part of being mad at you"
He hummed, kissing you once more before nuzzling his face into your neck and kissing the skin there, "How about make up morning sex?"
You huffed, feeling your eyes lids grow heavier, "Fine"
"Looking forward to it" He smiled, moving back to his pillow as you curled into his side, feeling the warmth of his bare chest under your cheek.
10 minutes had passed and as tired as you were you couldn't shut your brain off. You tried to focus on Jesse's breathing, nice and even as he dozed off.
"Jesse," You whispered, finger tracing his chest lightly. He hummed quietly, shifting under you, "You know I was only dancing with that guy to get a rise out of you right?"
"I know" He whispered, his arm tightening around you.
Another minute had passed as you mulled over the thoughts in your head. You pursed your lips, trying to keep yourself together, "Do you think that guy was telling the truth?"
"About what?" Jesse was more awake now, his hand coming up to play with your hair, probably feeling your uneven breathing pattern against his side.
"I dunno," You sniffled, turning your face so your lips were touching his skin, "The way he was talking about being out there, and women—"
"No," Jesse said, stopping you by pressing a kiss to the top of your head, "He's out of town by town, Tommy will make sure of it"
"But he said that thing about if Dina and I were out there that he—"
"That won't happen, I won't let it happen," Jesse stiffened at the thought, before adding, "I'll talk to Tommy, make sure he's aware of what was said, keep a close eye on patrols"
You nodded, moving your leg over his under the blankets, eyes closing finally at his words. Your arm slithered around his stomach.
You felt at ease with the simple reassurance Jesse was able to provide.
"And for the record, you don't have to make me jealous," He yawned, breathing evening back out as he fell asleep, "You got me, anyway you want me"

Waterfalls

Jesse x f!reader
Word count: 6541 words Summary: Good things happen when you stray from the beaten path <3 Warnings: 18+, smut, joel! and tommy!'s niece, mentions of tattoos, brief fingering, unprotected sex, some use of y/n, Jesse being so so hot, swearing A/N: I have sooo many ideas that I am trying to flesh out. This is sorta based off of multiple requests I received so pls continue to send those in. :)

It was the dead of summer in Wyoming and although you enjoyed feeling the sun on your skin, you couldn't ignore how incredibly hot it was. There hadn't been any infected or raiders around the town in months, but Tommy and the council still insisted on sending out patrols in the surrounding areas.
Usually, you preferred being out on patrol, free from the watchful eye of your uncles but today you were regretting not staying back and hiding somewhere in the shade. The sun was high in the sky as the horses trotted beside each other, making their way across the green landscape.
You had to admit the sight was breathtaking, especially after the grueling winter that seemed to last forever and nearly tore apart the community. But you could only focus on the heat that was baking down on your exposed shoulders.
"It's too fuckin' hot for this shit" You whined, tying your hair up and off your neck in an effort to cool down. "I feel like my skin is burning off"
"All you've done is whine today" Jesse points out, looking along the hillside ahead before glancing your way, catching the dirty look you were giving him, "I hate to break it to you, but we still have a couple hours before we switch out with the next patrol"
You rolled your eyes, mocking him before sitting up straighter on Shimmers saddle to prove a point, "I do not whine"
"What were you just doing?" He teased, moving the reins on his horse, Cherry, before looking back to you, only this time he wore a smug smirk when you didn't answer. "Exactly"
"Shut up" You quipped back, blowing a piece of hair, that had fallen from your bun, out of your face. You avoided his eyes as you realized, feeling the urge to whine again, "You're so annoying"
You were close with Jesse even though he was a couple years older than you. As the community of Jackson grew, he became somewhat of a right-hand man to your uncles. Tommy and Joel could trust him with almost everything, including you, the only daughter to their deceased sister.
Jesse was one of the only people in town that you truly enjoyed being around and Tommy knew it, which is why he turned a blind eye when Jesse would manipulate the schedules, so he was assigned to the same patrols or gate duty. At least with Jesse they knew you were safe, no matter if you were inside the walls or outside.
"Gimme your water" You whined again, holding your hand out to him, flexing your fingers as you waited expectantly. When he didn't make a move for his canteen you leaned over from your horse, reaching for where he stored it in his saddle bag.
"No way" Jesse chuckled, veering his horse to avoid you, "Get your kleptomaniac hands away from me"
"I am not a kleptomaniac" You giggled at the accusation, nearly falling off your horse as you stay outstretched toward him, wiggling your fingers.
"Says the freak who has tried to steal every single one of my knives" He replies, making sure his current knife was still in its holster and wasn't taken when he wasn't paying attention.
"Your knives are better than mine" You frown, giving up and sitting up straight again, before throwing your head back, looking at the clear blue sky above, "Jesssssse please-"
"Nope," He shook his head, "I warned you not to use all of your water earlier, but you didn't listen"
You groaned at his lecturing, sending daggers at the side of his head as he moved back closer to you. You hated when he was right. The two of you had been about two hours into the ride and you were already miserable with the heat. You had only been joking at first but when he told you not to do it, you felt challenged. So, you had turned toward him, uncapped your canteen and poured the water inside over your face and neck.
"It worked for about thirty minutes" You argued, remembering how refreshing it felt in the moment, before snapping out of it, "Come on"
He shook his head at you, doing a poor job at hiding his amused expression, "One of us needs to keep water to actually drink"
You sighed dramatically, draping yourself over Shimmer's neck and watching Jesse as his horse came back to walk near yours, "How are you not dying right now?"
He shrugged, adjusting himself on the saddle and rolling his shoulders back slightly. He was wearing a dark colored shirt that was absorbing the head from the sun. He took a quick glance at you, "Mind over matter"
"Bullshit" You said plainly, watching the warm breeze move his shirt against his chest, willing yourself to look away, before adding, "I don't think I've ever heard you complain about anything"
"You should try it" He countered quickly, smiling to himself at the quick comeback that you should've saw coming.
But it was true. He didn't complain. Not when your uncles gave him odd jobs around the town. Not when it was below freezing in the winter, and especially not now in the heat of summer. He took everything in stride.
"You should fuck off"
He laughed then, reaching over and pinching at the skin of your leg, moving away before you could swat at him. The two of you rode in a comfortable silence as you tried your best to practice what Jesse had mentioned.
Mind over matter.
Mind over matter.
Mind over matter.
"Can we please just take a break?" You cry out, feeling sweat pooling in your crevices. "The horses are probably exhausted"
"Wow, that was a new record," Jesse commended you sarcastically. From the corner of your eye, you could see him lean over slightly, running his hand over the neck of his horse, Cherry. He chewed at the inside of his cheek for a minute, "If we take a break will you stop complaining?"
You nodded eagerly, watching as he grabbed his map from the saddle bag, spreading it out in front of him, "I think if we head North a couple clicks, we can stop at the—"
You reached over from your horse, snatching the map from his hands in one quick motion, "I know the perfect spot"
"Absolutely not," He moved to grab it back from you, as best as he could before you held it out of his reach on the other side of Shimmer. "If we're going to stop then we stop at the designated point where—"
"–Jesse," You interrupted him, annoyed, "Just this once can we stray from the beaten path?"
Before he could answer you were using your newfound energy to move Shimmer into a canter, using your leg pressure and the reins to encourage her into a full gallop, leaving him behind.
The warm breeze brought you somewhat relief as you moved across the plain. You didn't have to turn around to know that Jesse was hot on your heels. He always was.
You learned a long time ago that it's better to just go and let him ask his questions once he caught up with you. He was often too much of a stick in the mud to stray from the rules, especially when it involved the beloved niece of the most influential men in Jackson.
You steered Shimmer down the hillside before making a sharp turn towards the forest and off the path that the patrols used. It felt freeing going where you knew the patrols had never been before, pushing the boundaries of what you were used to.
After a couple of minutes, you were coming to a thicker part of the forest and just as you hoped there was a path large enough for the horses to move through in a single file. You allowed Shimmer to make her way through as there had been broken branches and small hills ahead.
"We shouldn't be out this far without calling it in, this area hasn't been cleared on our patrols," Jesse warned from behind you, making sure his knife was easily accessible in his thigh holster, "Y/n? Are you listening to me?"
"Do you hear that?" You hushed him, throwing your hand back at him as you moved through the dense trees.
"No, I don't hear anything," He argued, becoming frustrated with you. "This is not-"
"If you shut up, you'll hear it" You interrupted him again, suddenly coming up on a clearing.
The trees thinned out and you were meant with a bed of thick green moss with a waterfall just beyond a border of smooth rocks. The waterfall cascaded down a sheer cliff face in front of you, nearly thirty feet tall. The water flowed over the ledge in a curtain of mist. The water droplets falling, creating a fine spray and coating the surrounding area in a faint later of moisture, which glistened in the sunlight. And even though the air was still hot and humid, the trees surrounding the area and the mist off the falls created an oasis of coolness.
"It's better than I ever could have imagined" You whispered, taking in the beauty before you as Shimmer came to halt. You dismounted, hand dragging along her neck as you guided her to the water to drink, admiring the beauty of the scene.
"How'd did you know this was here?" Jesse asked suddenly, following suit as you heard his feet hit the ground and move behind you.
"I didn't," You mumbled, then shook your head slightly too mesmerized to think properly, "Well I did—I was looking through Tommy's maps and I found one that showed this place but I didn't believe it would actually be here"
When he moved beside you, his arm brushed against yours, causing a chill to run over you. You were sure it was from the sudden coolness but still gasped quietly.
"I have to call this in" He muttered to himself, head on a swivel, scoping out the area before turning on his heel.
"Wait," You moved quick, beating him back to Cherry and doing your best to block him from the saddle bag where he kept his walkie, "What if you don't call it in?"
Jesse was significantly taller and stronger than you. He could have easily moved you out of his way, but he didn't instead he scanned your face, eyes jumping back to yours, "That would be against protocol"
"What if we forget about following the rules, just this once?" You asked innocently, reaching out and shaking his shoulders slightly, in an attempt to persuade him, "It can be our little secret"
He sighed, glancing down at you once more before looking over to the waterfall. You could see the gears turning in his head before he took a step back, "10 minutes and then we are back on patrol, understood?"
"Understood" You gesture a mock salute before grabbing his bicep and jumping up and down beside him, "I knew my fun Jesse was in there somewhere"
He rolled his eyes, taking a couple steps closer to the falls, feeling the mist hit him in the face. He had to admit that this place was be amazing.
Behind him you were leaning against Cherry, using her for balance as you removed your socks and shoes. Jesse turned back around to say something, raising an eyebrow at you, "What're you doing?"
"I'm getting in the water" You said, in an obvious tone, standing up straight feeling the moss between your toes. Your hand found the tie in your hair, removing it and letting the locks cascade down your back in small waves, "What does it look like?"
"No, we aren't staying" Jesse argued, moving to walk back toward you as you peeled your tank top from your torso and over your head, exposing the light-colored bra underneath. He stopped in his tracks, immediately averting his eyes as you tossed the top across a low hanging branch, "Y/n–"
"You said 10 minutes" You said reiterated, amused at the way he reacted to you undressing in front of him, "It's hot as hell and I'm getting in that water; so are you," You fumbled with the button on your jeans before tugging them down your thighs, "So take your damn clothes off"
"Can you stop stripping" He suggested, shifting on the soft ground.
You laughed at his demeanor, adjusting your underwear, making sure you weren't completely exposed as you tossed your jeans onto the branch. "Big strong Jesse is afraid of some skin," You teased, moving away from his horse and stopping in front of him. He was still staring off to the surrounding trees with a tinge of red across his cheeks, "You don't have to protect my modesty, Jess, it's just us"
He still didn't look at you, but you watched his adams apple bob as he swallowed, huffing as if he was annoyed at you.
You moved away from him, walking across the flat rocks that bordered the water, letting the cool mist hit your bare skin.
"I think you should come off those rocks" He warned, finally looking at you and urging himself not to focus on the fact that you were standing in only your undergarments. "It's breathtaking" You said in awe, dipping your toe in the crystal-clear water, testing the temperature, before you let your eyes move up the waterfall, "I mean look at it"
"It's breathtaking," He was looking at it, but he was mainly looking at you, who looked like an angel with the halo of mist floating around you, "But it's not safe to—"
Before he could finish his thought, you were jumping off the rock and disappearing into the rippling water. Jesse rushed to the rock where you had just been standing, panicked until he saw you resurface a couple feet away. The water was clear and from his spot above he could see your legs pumping to keep yourself above water. You moaned, ducking your head back, letting your hair spread out across the water's surface, "It feels amazing"
"Can you please get out now?" He asked, relaxing after seeing you were okay. He was kneeling on the smooth rock, staring down at you as you floated on your back. It was then that he realized your bra was completely see through after being soaking wet.
"Nope" You sighed happily, smiling up at him. For the first time all day you felt completely at peace, "But you can join me"
"What if a heard of infected show up?" He asks, raising his eyebrows at you.
"Well I guess I'll die" You hummed, lifting your hand and watching the water roll down your arm before dropping it back in the water, "At least I'll die happy"
"Y/n" His voice was calling out your name again, a disapproving tone that you'd heard a million times.
God, he was starting to sound like your uncles.
"Jesse" You mocked in the same tone. When he didn't respond, you splashed water up at him, "What do I have to do to get captain wyoming in this water with me?"
He watched you as your body seemed to glide through the water below him. Even under the water he could see how your bra was clinging to yours chest, leaving little to the imagination. He shook the thought from his head, biting at his lip, thinking. The mist was hitting him in the face and mixing with the sweat beads on his skin. "Promise me something?"
You dunked your head again, letting the fresh droplets run down your face as you stared up at him, "Anything"
"I'll get in if you promise to not complain on patrol for the rest of the week" He set his terms, and you couldn't help but smile so big it crinkled the corners of your eyes. It would be nearly impossible; you both knew it.
"I promise" You moved your hands through the water, keeping yourself at the surface, lying through your teeth. Jesse lets out a sigh as he unties his boots before standing and kicking them off. "Hurry up, it's lonely in here"
He gives you an annoyed look before moving back towards the horses with boots and socks in hand. He has his back to you as he pulls off his shirt with one hand and throwing it next to yours on the branch. From the water you can see his back muscles flexing and you urge yourself to look away, but you can't.
You see him look around the area once more as his fingers work at his belt. You sigh, kicking a little further from the edge to get a better look at him, "What's taking so long Jesse?"
He mutters something that you couldn't hear over the crashing of the waterfall behind you, before he is discarding his pants, leaving him in nothing but his boxers. You didn't know what you expected, you knew Jesses body was toned and muscular, thanks to years of physical activity and fighting. But your mouth still went dry as he turned to face you.
His arms were strong and well-defined, his stomach flat with a hint of six pack. His skin shining with a tan, golden brown from hours spent outdoors, and something you didn't expect to see. A patch of ink running along the side of his ribcage.
He stood at the edge of the rocks, and you attempted to hide the fact that you were staring, as he set his long knife on the edge of the rock. You decided not to say anything, knowing that having the knife close by was going to bring him peace, and also because you don't trust your voice at the sight of him.
Closer now you were able to get a better look at the tattoo. It was a rose, colored with a gray shading and prominent against his rugged side. You finally opened your mouth wanting to ask about it but was interrupted by Jesse jumping off the rock. His body sliced through the water and disappeared for a moment before shooting up again, breaking through the surface with a splash.
"Fuck," He yelled out, as he shook his head, water droplets clinging to his body, running down his hair and face in rivulets. He wiped at his face a wide grin spreading across his lips, "It's cold"
You giggled, swimming over toward him, heart pounding from the effort you were using to keep yourself up or the fact that he was right in front of you again, "Feels good to break the rules huh?"
Jesse chuckled, letting his chin dip back into the water as he raised his hand and splashed water at your already wet face, "You just love the idea of rebelling" He replied, his expression relaxed and carefree, "Anything to go against your uncles"
"To an extent" You agreed, splashing him back, there was no point in denying, he knew you too well. You moved to your back again, floating and giving your legs a chance to rest, "But you have to admit this is my best idea yet"
Jesse followed your movement, laying back into the water and floating alongside of you. The mist of the waterfall nearby coating your faces that sat above the water. The feeling of the water was soothing on his aching muscles. He turned to look at you, his gaze locking on the sky above, through the tops of the trees he could see the sun rays peeking through, "I'll give you that"
After a minute you moved in the water, getting the chance to see him actually enjoying himself. His eyes shut and lips parted, as the sun danced through the trees and hit the droplets on his face, making him almost sparkle. You could really see the tattoo now and couldn't stop yourself from reaching out and tracing it.
"I didn't know you had a tattoo" Your wet finger was slick against his skin as the water lapped against him where he floated.
He peeked at you through half closed eyes, trying to ignore your touch, "I'm not usually shirtless around you"
"It's pretty," You ignored his remark, tracing the petals of the flower as he shivered in the water, moving off his back to swim normally in front of you. "Why a rose?"
"My moms favorite flower" Jesse said simply, disappearing under the water again. He stayed there for a couple seconds, giving you time to regret bringing it up in the first place. His mom had died a couple years back right after you had first met him. He didn't talk about her much. When he did come back above the surface, he had fresh beads of water dropping from his face.
"I think that's sweet," You smiled, feeling your leg rub against his as you tread water, "Who did it?"
"Your best friend Cara" He chuckled, already knowing you would feel some type of way.
Cara was his ex-girlfriend. You should have assumed, she was a great artist, just not a great girlfriend. Needless to say, she had a habit of hooking up with other guys in town when Jesse was on patrols. You were relieved when he finally broke up with her.
"Oh god" You laughed, remembering that she also hated everything about you. Especially hated how well you got along with her boyfriend at the time, "You think she would put aside her hatred long enough to tattoo me?"
"I'm sure your uncles will love that" Jesse gave you a lopsided smirk, as moved away from him, swimming closer to the waterfall.
As you approached it your bare feet found footing on an underwater rock, and you were able to stand with your shoulders poking out from the surface.
You moved to stand under the falls. As the water hit your skin, it felt like a natural shower, clean and rejuvenating, sending chills all through your body as the water enveloped you. You lifted your face to feel the full force of the falling water, letting it rush over you and through your hair. It was refreshing, and you could feel the tension and stress draining out of you. You parted your lips, soaking up every minute.
Jesse followed, standing up on the same rock, with his height his upper chest was now exposed out of the water. Water trickled down his chest, tracing the defined lines of his muscles, his body glistening. The sound of the waterfall filled the air, the rushing water creating small waves and filling the silence that settled between you.
He couldn't help but smile at you, watching as you closed your eyes and let the water wash over you, completely enveloping you in the waterfall's spray. He watched the water run down your body, your every curve and contour on full display. He felt a stirring in his stomach.
You saw him staring and suddenly reached out, tugging him under the waterfall with you. He nearly tripped his head dipping under the spray of the waterfall, letting it hit him the same way. The water rushed down his face and splashed across his broad shoulders, causing his muscles to flex slightly. A low groan escaped his lips at the sensation.
"I wonder if anyone else knows—" The question caught in your throat as you turned back toward him, realizing just how close he stood, the space between you almost non-existent. You immediately forgot what you were asking as you watched the water droplets cling to his eyelashes, his gaze intense.
You could feel the heat radiating off his skin, even with the cold water all around you, adding a strange element to the moment. You found yourself unable to look away.
"10 minutes are up," Jesse's voice was low and filled with a hint of reluctance as he spoke, his hand brushing against your arm beneath the water's surface. The touch was light, but it sent shivers down your spine, the intimacy of the moment intensifying whatever was burning between you, "—We should be getting back"
You could feel your heart rate quicken, the sound of it echoing in your ears. You nodded breathlessly, blinking away the water from your eyelashes, but you couldn't bring yourself to make any movement, your body frozen in place as you stood before him under the waterfall.
Jesse blinked, as if coming back to reality before clearing his throat. But he couldn't hide the way he looked at your lips, no matter how brief. He set his jaw before moving out from under the falls, that is until you followed him, "Wait," You reached out, hand grabbing his bicep, turning him back to face you, "I want to try something"
Before you could let yourself overthink the moment you were closing the gap between the two of you, your hand trailing down his arm, skin slick under your touch. Your lips found his, gently locking onto them. The wetness of his lips sent a chill down your spine as you moved carefully closer to him, the cool water a stark contrast to the heat emanating off of both your bodies.
To your surprise he kissed you back, carefully like he wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. Your mouths moved in sync until you felt his hands on your shoulders, physically moving you back away from him. He held you at arm's length.
The water was still falling beside the two of you bouncing off your arm as you looked up at him through your eyelashes. You couldn't believe you'd just kissed him, and you couldn't believe that you wanted to do it again.
"That can't happen again" He said, dropping his hands from you, running one of them over his face, ridding it of the beads again.
"Why not?" You hummed, wading through the water, closer to him. Your hand reached out to touch his side, desperate to feel his warm skin again.
"Because" He said, blinking again, glancing back at the horses who munched on the grass, enjoying the shade.
"What are you so scared of?" You urged, feeling an aching growing inside of you. You knew what his lips tasted like now and you weren't sure you would ever forget.
"Your uncles" He replied truthfully as you moved your feet across the rock.
"I don't see them anywhere" You teased, biting at your lip, watching how his chest was rising and falling. Your finger was trailing over his abs.
He grabbed your wrist gently, shivering from your touch, "They will kill me," He said in a serious tone. You stared up at his eyes before glancing down at his lips again, as he nervously chewed on his bottom lip. His thumb rubbed at the skin on your wrist absentmindedly, "And I don't think I'll be able to stop myself"
You were leaning up on your toes, your wet bra pressing against his bare chest, whispering over the rushing water beside you, "Then don't"
Jesse grabbed at you, leaning down and catching your lips with his own in a quick motion. His touch was firm yet gentle, hands gripping your waist as he pulled you closer to him. The force of the movement pushed you back under the waterfall. The cool water from the cascaded down around your bodies, enveloping you both in a cocoon of privacy like this part of the world only belonged to the two of you.
He held you tight against him, parting your lips with this tongue, begging for entrance. You smiled against him, as he grabbed your chin and tilted your head, allowing him to deepen the kiss.
"I knew I'd rub off on you" You breathed out against him, feeling your knees go weak at the way he kissed you.
You leaned in closer, feeling his fingers dancing on your exposed skin. The taste of the water mingling with the taste of him. Your body ached to be closer, relishing in the feel of his muscles under your touch.
The kiss deepened as you ran your hands through his wet hair, the water creating a sensual sensation against your skin. Jesse pulled back slightly like he was going to stop again, but you didn't give him the chance pulling him back against you. The kissing growing even more intense, fueled by the water surrounding you both. His hand came up, gripping your neck, his touch possessive and demanding. You felt sparks of desire coursing through your veins, the world fading away as you melted into him, your bodies pressed together in a way that left all other thoughts in the distance.
You felt as though you were going to levitate from your body when you felt his hand leave your throat and slip under the water, between your thighs. You were tingling with anticipation long before you even felt his fingers against you. The water lapping around you added to the sensation, the cool liquid contrasting with the heat of his touch as his fingers danced over the fabric of your underwear. You let out a gasp, your body arching into him, the desire growing to an almost unbearable level.
Jesse's lips found your neck, nibbling at the skin. His ministrations almost sending you over the edge. He knew exactly how to touch you, the right pressure points, the right movements, the right pace. It was as if he knew your body better than you did, and every touch left you writhing in pleasure.
"Jesse," You were whining again, head falling back in the water, your hair floating around you like a halo. Your face was the very picture of pleasure; eyes closed with your mouth open in pure ecstasy. He couldn't tear his gaze away from you, his touch growing more insistent, more desperate. He could feel your body trembling beneath his touch, each moment bringing you closer to the edge, "Don't stop"
He did as you demanded, continuing the same motion in the water and suddenly you were forced back up against him from the sheer pleasure, crying out as your water-logged hair smacked against your back. You buried your face into his hard chest, heaving breathing and body shaking slightly.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his hand now rubbing slow circles as he felt you throbbing under the water and utterly spent. You sighed happily, clinging onto him as you caught your breath.
"I wasn't expecting that" You laughed, feeling your cheeks heat up at how quickly things had escalated, but then you were leaning back up to kiss him again. His hand, which had been between your legs only moments ago, now moved to your ass, squeezing it briefly, "You're driving me insane"
He smirked against you, leaning down slightly as his hands found the back of your thighs in the water. He lifted you effortlessly and your legs locked around him immediately as he pulled you closer, your bare skin brushing against his. You were nearly completely out of the water now, still feeling the waterfall around you and he was supporting your weight, his grip strong and unshakeable.
The cool water felt electric on your skin after what just happened as he back you up against it, the waterfall creating a veil of privacy around you both as you swirled your tongue over his.
"What are we doing" He pulled back as if a moment of clarity came to him. His lips glide over your wet skin and kiss at your neck again.
"Breaking the rules," You moaned, dropping your head back to give him more access to your neck. He paused, his teeth gently grazing your sensitive skin. Your fingernails moved over his back, leaving a trail of goosebumps, "Do you wanna stop?"
Jesse's response was a deep, low chuckle that rumbled in his chest, his grip tightening around you. It was good enough for you as you moved your hands to lace around his neck and bring his lips back to yours.
His hands roamed over your back under the falling water, his touch firm and possessive, leaving a trail of tingles in their wake. You could feel the desire building between you, the energy crackling with every touch. You arched your back, pressing yourself even closer, your body craving to be closer.
Jesse listened to your body, pressing you up against the smooth, damp rocks, behind the water fall, his body pinning you in place. The falling water was now behind him. If you hadn't been so wrapped up with the thought of him against you, you would have been in awe. Behind the waterfall was a covering, once that provided privacy and muted the sounds of the world beyond you. All you knew in this moment was Jesse and his hands on you.
His tongue slipped into your mouth, eliciting a gasp from you as your back found the cold rock. His hands gripped you with just enough pressure as you ran your hands all over him, the water making everything slick.
You could've screamed at the sheer desire coursing through you as he moved against you, your bodies now cradled behind the water.
Your hands found his broad shoulders that blocked the majority of spray. You took a moment to appreciate the sight of him, his skin glistening in an intoxicating way before he was back against you, kissing you hard.
It was your turn to dip your hand below the surface of the water, under the waistband of his boxers. The sound of his moan echoed against the rock, the cool air from the falls sending a shiver running down your spine. You smirked, relishing in the sound and the way he squirmed at your touch. His hands came up cup your face, trying to not focus on the way you were touching him.
He moaned into your mouth, breathing hard as you pumped your hands around his shaft in the water. Judging by the way your bodies were responding to each other's touch, it was clear you both had been hiding your feelings for some time.
He moved his mouth to your bra, pulling the soaking wet fabric away to reveal your hardened nipples. He swirled his tongue around them as you picked up your pace, biting your lip at the sight of him.
"Fuck" He whined, muffling his sounds by kissing your breasts again before pulling his head back and making you look at him, "Do you want to?"
"I want you" You answered, letting him go and pulling his waist into you, feeling him hard against your thigh. Your eyes were wide in anticipation.
"You sure?" He breathed, wincing as his sensitivity grew.
"Mhm," You nodded, unable to hide the desperation that was growing as you begged, "Don't overthink it"
He kissed you sloppily, mouth devouring you as he moved further against you, his hand finding your right leg and moving it up, opening you further to him. Your hands fell to his hard chest, nails raking lightly against his skin, leaving a trail of red lines in their wake. His body responded to your touch, muscles flexing under your fingers.
Under the water you felt his finger graze your core as he pulled the fabric of your underwear to the side. He broke the kiss long enough to peer through the water and line himself up with you. When you felt him at your entrance you moaned, attaching your lips back to his.
He moved closer on the rock you two had been standing on and he gasped as he slid into you, now flush between you legs. The sensation was like nothing you had felt before, making you dig your nails into his back.
"Talk to me" He encouraged, giving you time to adjust.
"It's good," You sighed, closing your eyes and moving your mouth to his shoulder, kissing him there, "I'm good"
With that he began to pump into you, slow and sensual at first, finding a rhythm as the water lapped between your bodies. He supported your leg, moving it slightly to hit a better angle. After a minute he was picking up the pace, moving his other arm to cushion your back from the force of him pushing you against the wall.
His breathy whines echoed, against the wet walls around you and you were thankful for the sound coverage unable to contain the cries bubbling from your throat.
Each time he plunged into you felt you felt yourself getting closer and closer. He picked up a desperate pace, losing the rhythm he once had. You moved one of your hands to the wall behind you, trying to brace yourself as he hit the perfect spot in your throbbing core.
"Fuck-" You cried out, moving your hips in tandem against him, riding him until you were screaming out. You could hardly catch your breath, riding out the high of your orgasm before he was kissing you again, moaning into your mouth.
The feeling of your juices spreading over him was enough to send him over the edge, pulling out at that last second.
You immediately felt his absence between your legs as your breathing even out. It was soon replaced by him feeling his lips, kissing along your collarbone.
He let your leg relax back in the water as you arched into him. He kept his hand behind your back on the wall, but moved it to cradle your head, playing with your hair. His lips ghosted over your lips as if he was savoring the moment before you closed the space, giggling, "You have no idea how long I wanted to do"
"Probably just as long as I've wanted to" You said, in between kisses.
His tongue was slipping into your mouth again finding your tongue and massaging, like he couldn't get enough of you. You moved your legs back around his waist, letting him take you away from the wall and back under the falling water. This time you squealed when the water engulfed the two of you.
When he stepped to the other side you broke the kiss, looking up at the sky. It was still sunny and the air was thick but you felt like time had passed, as if everything had changed.
Jesse nudged your cheek with his nose, bringing you attention back to him as he held you up, your feet barely touching the water. You kissed him again, taking his bottom lip between your teeth and tugging it gently, teasing him, "Are you still thinking about my uncles?"
Jesse laughed then, a deep rich sound that echoed against the waterfall behind you. You felt your heart swell at the sound. His eyes twinkled with amusement as he pecked your lips, "You're such a smartass"
You giggled against him, wrapping your arms tighter around his neck, "I'm sure they won't hurt you too bad"
"Maybe I'll just tell them you seduced me" He hummed, adjusting you on his waist and rubbing his thumbs against the side of your thighs as he stepped to the side of the rock by the waterfall.
"You can tell them whatever you want," You pressed a kiss to his temple, then the tip of his nose, "As long as you keep bending the rules for me"
Instead of answering he kissed you again, holding you tighter and jumping off the rock, hitting the water where you had started this excursion. The splash startled the horses as you both surfaced, fresh beads of water dripping into your eyes as you laughed.
You could get used to the hot weather if it meant more days like this with Jesse.

Blunts and blood
(Jesse x f!reader)
Word count: 2242
Summary: Things get out of hand during a movie and smoking session
Warnings: mentions of weed/marijuana, fluff, friends to more, mentions of blood, kissing
A/n: I’m having so much fun writing these! thanks so much for the prompt! Sorry for it being short, I’m still sick but trying write while I lay around 🫶🏼 gif sets linked below

Just minutes before you came knocking on his door Jesse had decided to relax by partaking in his favorite recreational activity. One second he was relaxing on the couch letting the weed do its thing and the next he was standing up desperately flinging a book in the air to rid the room of its smokey haze before answering.
He thinks he's in the clear until he opens the door and sees you standing with a knowing smile as the marijuana smell hits you in the face, "Are you ready—oh woah–"
His hand grips the door and his face flushes slightly. You have to laugh at the look on his face, like he's been caught with his pants down, "Relax captain wyoming I don't care"
You hold up an old VHS, still standing outside in the snow, "Don't tell me you forget about the movie night you promised me"
"No, of course not—uh come in"
He moves to the side, opening the door wider so you could enter his small home. Movies nights had been a tradition you'd started after finding a box of old VHS tapes on a patrol; setting a goal to watch all of them.
"So you did forget about movie night," You remove your coat and shoes watching as he hurries around the room, trying to clean up until you make stop him in his tracks, "We can always do it another night—"
"No," He says a little too fast before moving the last dirty shirt from the couch so you could sit, "Uh—it just slipped my kind is all, I had a long day"
You glanced at the blunt that he had forgotten on the small table near the couch as you took a seat, "That explains the weed"
"Oh shit—sorry, here let me" He rubbed at the back of his neck, clearly stressed. “I don’t usually—“
"Jesse—calm down," You picked up the blunt and brought it to your lips, taking a hit and blowing the smoke in the direction where he stood. "We all know you're gonna be in charge of Jackson one day, but that day is not today"
He didn’t respond.
"You're dirty little secret is safe with me," When he shifts awkwardly on his feet, you sigh moving your finger over you chest and making an 'x' pattern, "Cross my heart"
He put his hands on his waist nodding once, before grabbing the movie that you left on the table. He fed it into the old machine and the tv switched on.
You're eager to pass him the blunt when he switches the lights off and plops down on the couch next you. He still shakes his head, as if pretending he doesn't smoke until you groan and smack his chest, “Dude, don’t deny me of my dream of getting high with you”
It’s true you always wondered what he was like when he was high. He had a habit of being a rule follower and overall stick in the mud.
He laughed at you, before he takes it and inhales, holding it longer than you thought he would before parting his lips and letting the smoke out. You wouldn't have believed it if you hadn't seen it with your own eyes.
Then he's passing it back to you, eyes trained on the tv glow as the movie began. By the time the movie is about half way through you are both completely stoned, giggling at the screen.
Jesse had just caught his breath when he started laughing again, "Wait—wait, what is this called again?"
"The fast and the furious" You giggled, taking a drink of the beer he had given you to cure the cotton mouth. "Because they are really fast and really furious"
He erupted in laughter again. The joke wasn't funny but in your current states it was the funniest thing you'd ever heard.
At some point during the movie you had ended up sitting with your legs across Jesse's. You didn't mind it and neither did he considering he had dropped his hand and left it sitting on your lower thigh.
It wasn't inherently sexual even when his thumb began to rub absentminded circles on the fabric of your jeans, but it still made your mind wander.
The two of you were friends, meeting first when assigned on patrols and wall shifts together. To pass the time the two of you would get to know each other and become good friends. But you couldn't stop the crush that had grown or the ever present sexual tension that always seemed to linger.
Of course you'd never alluded to any feelings that you might have had for him. Not when you were sure he didn't feel the same way. He was too much of a good guy to make a move, even if he did.
"Man that was unrealistic" He suddenly said, pulling you out of your own head as the credits began to roll.
"What do you mean?" You can't help but smile at him, always curious to know his thoughts on the movies you watched.
"I dunno, I just feel like these street racers got away with a lot of shit," He tried to stifle his laugh, hand still on your thigh only now his palm was flat against you, fingers moving together as he rubbed, "and that Dom guy should have definitely died after getting hit by that truck at the end"
You only hummed, listening to him intently and trying to ignore the tingling that erupted under his touch.
"It reminded me of that movie we watched last month," You yawned, moving slightly so you could look at him better, "uh—I can't remember the name— it was the surfer movie"
"Point break?" He finished your thought, taking a drink of his beer, "How so?"
"Think about it" You pressed, "Undercover cop infiltrates the target group but becomes too involved and has to expose his identity and—"
"Shit, you're right, switch the cars for surfboards–" He interrupts you, grabbing your shoulder and shaking it, "I didn't even think about that"
"It's because I'm smarter than you" You tease, leaning back into the cushions, legs still taking up space on his lap.
"Oh you really think so?" He challenges and you feel his hand start to crawl up your legs.
"Mhmm" You hummed, rolling your eyes at him as the ending song from the movie played in the background. You held your fingers up in between the two of you, counting them as you spoke, "Smarter, funnier, stronger, prettier—"
"All wrong," He suddenly quips, "Except that last one"
You were thankful your red cheeks were hidden by the tv glow, suddenly feeling like a little giddy little girl. It wasn’t the first time he had flirted with you and it wouldn’t be the last.
The moment didn't last long before he began tickling your legs, moving up to your sides. You squirmed uncontrollably as Jesse's fingers danced across you, tickling and teasing every sensitive spot on your body. His touch was playful and relentless, a smirk on his lips as he watched you squirm and gasp for breath.
He continued his assault, his fingers relentlessly tickling your skin. He relished the sound of your squeals and giggles, the way your body squirmed and twisted under him. His eyes filled with amusement.
"Jesse" You squeaked out when your sides began to hurt from the tickling and you could no longer take it. You try to move away from him but in the mess of arms and legs you end up lifting your leg and kneeing him right in the nose.
"Fuck" He groans quietly, suddenly halting the tickling and sitting up. When you open your eyes after catching your breath you realize he's holding his nose.
You immediately start apologizing as he stands from the couch and moves into his kitchen. You jump from the couch following him, the panic sobering you up.
In the kitchen he leans against the counter by the sink with a rag up to his nose. You rush over standing in front of him and touching his arm, "Jesse, I am so sorry, I swear I didn't mean to—"
“Y/n, it’s fine, I’m fine” He touches your shoulder, trying his best to reassure you, “It’s my fault anyways—I was the one tickling you”
You move his hand away, so you could inspect it, "Well it's not broken," You sigh in relief after a minute, moving his hand back to hold it with the rag as you cross his kitchen to the freezer pulling out an ice cube. You stand back in front of him, "This should stop the bleeding"
He gave you a look, but still let you move his hand again and hold the ice cube to his nostril. He winced at the icy feeling on his skin but didn't move knowing you wouldn't let him. He watches you amused at the way you fuss over him.
A silence fell over the room as the VHS ended and the song stopped playing. The only thing you could hear now was Jesse's breathing as you moved the ice and checked the bleeding again.
After a couple of minutes you drop the ice into the sink beside him and take the rag from his hand, patting his now wet nose dry, "–there I think it's done bleeding”
He sniffles, touching the back of his hand against the nostril before giving you a lopsided smile. Now that he was taken care of you realized just how close you were standing in front of him.
"What?" You say, letting out a nervous laugh.
"I guess I was wrong," He says, glancing at your lips before looking back to your eyes. When he sees the confused look on your features he adds, "That was a solid hit, so turns out you are pretty and strong”
"Shut up" You whisper, laughing it off and dropping the bloodied rag next to the now melted ice cube before looking back at him.
His gaze was boring into you. Almost as if he was challenging you. A game of who would be the one to pull away first, "Too late"
Jesse pushed himself off the counter ever so slightly, just enough to lean toward you. He reached out and cupped your chin gently, thumb brushing against your bottom lip. The air between you humming with tension. Then his were lips brushing against yours in a tentative touch, as if asking permission.
Your heart raced as you kissed him back, leaning into him, his touch intoxicating. Your hands found his shoulders, holding yourself steady.
It was soft and uncertain at first, but as the seconds passed and you reciprocated, the kiss deepened, an unspoken desire igniting between you.
You felt like you were ascending out of your body as if every cell in your body was going to erupt, especially when you felt him smile against your lips. If you weren’t already holding yourself up against his body you were sure your knees would’ve buckled.
You parted your lips, sliding your tongue along his bottom lip before he returned the gesture. Within seconds your tongues were tangling together. You gasped as he moved you, switching positions so your back was against the counter without ever leaving your lips.
In a quick motion he had dropped his hands to your waist and lifted you so you were sitting on the cold countertop. You immediately opened your legs so he could stand closer to you.
You kept your eyes closed, enjoying the way he felt on you and against you, feeling like you were dreaming. You pulled back slightly so you could angle your head and when you were back on his lips you were meant with an overwhelming metallic taste.
“Jess” You muttered against him, not wanting to ruin the moment but concerned enough to come to your senses.
He hummed, hands finding their way back to your face, moving into your hair to hold you. He was clearly too distracted to taste the blood.
You sighed, taking your hand and pushing his chest carefully, until he slowed his kissing and pulled back altogether, just enough to look at you.
“What’s wrong?” He moved his hands to your shoulders, moving them up and down in an effort to soothe you, thinking he had done something to upset you. “I’m sorry— I shouldn’t have got carried away like that”
“No—no that was nice,” You corrected, smiling at him before leaning over and grabbing the rag back from the sink, “You’re bleeding again”
You dabbed the skin under his nose and pulled it back to show him the fresh blood.
“Sorry” He sighed, dropping his head against your shoulder in defeat, careful to not drip any blood on you. “—really ruined the mood”
“Do you know how long I’ve wanted this?” You admitted, continuing to hold the rag in place as he lifted his head back to look at you, “–nothing is ruined, just paused until the bleeding stops”
You moved the rag slightly so you could press your lips against his in a quick kiss. The tang of his blood mixing with the sweetness of your own lips in a peculiar union.
He nodded, sporting a goofy smile as he let you tend to him once again, both of you impatiently waiting for the bleeding to stop.

I can't imagine what Jesse had to go through. I am not comparing it to Ellie or Dina, but he went in there and saw his best friends as good as dead and then he saw Joel, his sort of an uncle, or just someone he listened to, looked up to. He was alone. Ellie was catatonic, Dina unconscious, and Joel dead... And he had to be responsible, he had to make sure they're able to take him home, put him to rest. He had to drag Ellie, that was clinging to Joel's body hysterically, push her away for long enough to move Joel's body, that was so inhumanely mutilated. And he had to keep his composure, had to do everything with his heart bleeding, torn apart. He had to carry him, make sure Ellie and Dina were safe, he had to look after everything while also being heartbroken and guiltridden. And he was what, 22? Fucking hell.

It’s worth it…
(Jesse x f!reader)
Word count: 2343
Summary: Jesse sneaks around with his boss’s daughter.
Warnings: No warnings really; just fluff, kissing, sneaking around, sweaty!jesse, daddy!joel
A/N: Sorry this is short, I’m currently sick and I don’t know if there are any errors! Thank you for requesting it 🫶🏼 gif set

You followed the sound the power drill, it was the perfect indicator of where your father was. You bounced down the old creaky steps, hand gliding down the railing until you reached the bottom.
"Hello?" You called out as you wandered through the empty rooms. The drilling stopped and instead was replaced with the sound of wood smacking against the ground.
You stopped short at the fridge, grabbing two beers and moving toward the back door. The sticky summer air hit your face the second the door was opened, immediately making you wish you had stayed in the air conditioning.
He was stood a couple feet down on the grass, over a makeshift table, measuring it and then marking it with the pencil he always seemed to keep behind his ear.
He planned on extending the deck, you tried to talk him out of him, being that it was the dead of summer and too hot for him to be working out in the sun all day but, here he was.
"Whatcha doing?" You asked coming off the existing deck and walking across the plush grass toward him.
"Hey baby, figured I'd get a head start on the extension," he raised his head from his task and smiled, seeing that you came bearing drinks, "Thanks darlin' I was just about to grab one"
"Great minds think alike" You smiled, coming to stand beside him and handing him the beer. He cracked it open easily, taking a long sip.
You cracked the lid of the other beer in your hand ready to drink it just as you heard someone come through the back gate.
"Hey Jesse," Your dad called over, throwing his arm over your shoulder and kissing the top of your head, "Y/N grabbed us beer, why don't you take a break?"
You watched Jesse nod, dropping the wood near the side of the deck. His dark shirt was clinging to his biceps and when he turned to head over toward the table you noticed he has saw dust on his shirt.
"I didn't know Jesse was working today" You mumbled, glancing at the tools on the table in front of you.
"He wasn't. I gave him a call this morning to help me with the extension of the deck here, just got back from the lumber yard for me"
Interesting.
"Did they give ya any trouble?"
Jesse dug into his back pocket, fishing out a credit card and receipt before handing it to Joel. "No sir," he nodded your way when you held the beer out to him. He took it, squinting at you through the sun. "Hey, y/n"
"Jesse" You had to bite the inside of your cheek and look down at the grass. You had a hard time ignoring how good he looked with sweat glistening off his skin.
You wiggled out from under Joels arm, standing between them and feeling the hot sun heating your exposed shoulders while Joel explained his plans for the deck, moving his hands in the air.
"Sounds like a lot of work" You said, patting your dad on the back when he finished, "But I think it'll look great"
"Oh it'll just take the weekend, Jesse and I will tackle the job like we always do" He took a long sip from his beer before turning his attention to Jesse, "Right Jess?"
Oh right, Jesse was still standing there. You hadn't know because you refused to look at him, even when you felt his stare bore into the side of your head.
When you did finally look over to him again you saw him nodding, sipping on his beer and wiping the sweat from his forehead, not his usual talkative self.
"Oh–uh that reminds me, the lightbulb in my room blew" You moved your toes into the soft grass under you, "Think you have time to change it for me?"
"I'll do it" Jesse blurted out, a little too quickly and you rolled your eyes. "I mean, I can do that–if that's okay with you sir, it'll just take me a couple minutes"
Joel looked between the two of you before sitting his beer down on the table and taking his pencil from his ear again, "Yeah, that's fine, you know where I keep the bulbs?"
"Dad," You laughed, now walking backwards towards the house with Jesse in tow, "He practically lives here, of course he knows where you keep everything"
"Yeah, just make it quick Jesse. I wanna get this started soon"
"Yes sir" Jesse repeated, following you up the deck steps and through the back door.
"Yes sir" You mocked, once both of you were fully inside. He stopped short at the cabinet beside the kitchen and grabbed a bulb while you made your way to the stairs.
He was behind you on the stairs now, reaching out and pinching the back of your thigh that was exposed from your shorts. You squealed as he laughed, smacking his hand away and running up the stairs.
When you got into your room you immediately went to the window where the sun was shining through, seeing Joel down below—a perfect view to keep an eye on him.
"We have 5—maybe 10 minutes" Jesse said sitting the lightbulb down on your dresser. He knew it never needed changed.
You moved to where he was standing and shut the door behind him, pushing him up against it and kissing him hard.
He kissed you back moving his hands to your face, holding it in place to he could kiss you better, but just as his tongue grazed yours, you were pulling back.
"Why didn't you tell me you were helping my dad today?" You kept your hands on his chest, moving your head back further when he tried to kiss you again. "It's supposed to be your day off—we had plans"
By plans you meant telling your dad you'd be going to your friends house but actually meeting Jesse at the end of the street and driving to the next town over for a date.
"I know" He sighed, moving your hair back and kissing your neck, when he spoke again his voice was muffled, "But you know how your dad is–"
You nodded, eyes fluttering close at his mouth on you, "You do know you can tell him 'no' from time to time, it'd probably do him some good"
Jesse hummed against your skin, remembering what you'd told him about leaving hickies where Joel would see them, before pulling back completely, "He'd ask why and you know I'm not a good liar. We both know he won't like what my actual plans are"
"Well you could've told me" You pouted, moving your arms around his neck as he looked down at you.
You were mad at Jesse. But you were more mad at your dad–even though he didn't know he was interfering with your love life.
If he actually knew that you’d been hooking up with his employee after years of said employee hanging around his family and house, he may have an aneurysm. It's not like it was illegal, you were both 18 and he trusted Jesse but he would never allow him to be sleeping with his only daughter. You were sure it would jeopardize Jesse's position on Joel and Tommy's construction crew. It wasn't worth the risk.
Although you couldn't be too mad, you knew Jesse was a people pleaser, especially when it came to your dad— constantly getting roped into random home improvement projects when they weren't working an actual site.
"I knew you'd be mad" He admitted, moving his thumb across your cheek, "I'm sorry"
"You're lucky you look good when you’re all sweaty like this" You rolled your eyes, leaning up and kissing him again.
He immediately melted into you, this time grabbing at the back of your thighs and picking you up effortlessly. All the years being the construction crews pack mule paid off when it came to his muscles and endurance. He moved away from the door as you wrapped your legs around him, hands finding his hair.
He took a couple of steps before laying you gently on your bed, lips never leaving yours as he moved his body down on top of you.
You were lost in him, you always were. The two of you didn't get too much time together, usually having to sneak around and lie but it was worth it for moments like this.
You smiled against his mouth as he took your bottom lip between his teeth and tugged carefully. Your hands moved up his biceps, feeling his muscles flex as he supported himself above you.
You tapped his arm, breaking the kiss in a lusty haze, "Where's he at?"
Jesse groaned, moving to his knees and leaning over to the window. He looked for a second before coming back down and crashing his lips into yours, meaning you were still in the clear.
You moved your hand down his stomach until you came into contact with the waist band of his jeans. You smirked against his lips, beginning to play with the zipper when his hand caught yours, moving it away, "We can't start something we can't finish. He's right down there—"
You groaned, purposely bucking your hips against him as you moved on the mattress. "Well you took away my Jesse time today, I'm just trying to make up for it"
He sighed as he moved down your torso and lifted your tank top to expose your sun kissed stomach, a place he learned he could leave all the hickies he wanted and never get caught. He pressed sloppy, wet kisses as he spoke, "Maybe we should just come clean"
"You know that's not an option" You whined, watching as he came back up to your chest, resting his chin there and looking at you, "He might actually kill you"
"If it means I get to love you out in the open then it's worth it"
"Dude, you are so corny" You groaned throwing your head back to look at the ceiling but you weren't able to hide the blush that crept onto your cheeks. "How about you go down there and tell him you're going home? Then we can still go out and you know–"
You had moved your hand back towards his crotch. But he stopped you again, catching it and bringing it up to his mouth as he playfully bit at your fingers.
"I already committed to helping him" He sighed, kissing your palm before dropping your hand, "Unfortunately, I'm a man of my word"
"You disappoint me" You chuckled, moving the same hand back to his hair, lacing it into his black locks and pushing them back off his forehead.
"I'm sorry baby" He whispered, moving slightly so he wasn’t crushing you with his weight. You could've combusted right then and there.
His lips found yours, gently pressing against your mouth with a sweetness that seemed almost tentative. His drew you impossibly closer. The kiss deep and slow, his tongue moving against yours in a dance of desire.
He moved his hand under your shirt, cupping your breast, every touch left a trail of fire in its wake. You felt him moan against your mouth, making butterflies erupt in your stomach. That is until the sound of the creaky stair steps floated through the air and under the crack of your door.
"Fuck" You whisper, pushing Jesse off you and sitting up on the bed just as the door knob turned and your dad was walking in.
"How long does it take to change a damn lightbulb—"
The silence in the room was thick and you could hear the heartbeat pounding in your ears.
"Hi daddy" You squeaked as he took in the scene. Your top was lifted, exposing the bottom of your stomach and Jesse was sitting on the edge of your bed with his hair sticking up. Both of your lips were swollen in an unmistakable way.
"Did you change the bulb?" He asked Jesse, impatiently, moving his hands to his hips.
"Uh–yes sir I did"
Joel reached over and flipped the switch, of course, the never broken light switch turned right on. He looked around the room slowly before looking back at the two of you.
"Alright, well let's get back to work then"
Jesse nodded, stealing a look at you before moving from the bed. Just as he came to the doorframe, Joel reached out and stopped him, planting a rough hand on his shoulder.
No, no, no.
"Word to the wise—if you plan on seeing my daughter, you need to ask for permission"
From the bed your whole body tensed up, praying that your dad didn't hurt him. You were 18, he couldn't control who you dated but you were too worried for Jesse's safety to argue, "Dad, what are you talking about?"
"You think I don't know all the sneaking around you do?" He wasn't mad, at least from what you could tell. "Why do you think I've been keeping him busy?"
"Well," Jesse cleared his throat nervously wiping his hands against his pants, "Sir, can I date your daughter"
"No" Joel answered immediately, amused.
"Dad" You groaned, throwing a pillow at him. The fact that he hadn't already thrown Jesse into a wall was a good sign.
"Finish the deck and I'll think about it" Joel said, again amused at the look on your face as he slapped Jesse hard in the back.
"Yes sir" He smiled, feeling confident as Joel nearly pushed him out of the room. You heard the steps creaking as Jesse walked down the stairs.
Before your dad shut the door he peeked his head back in at you, where you were still on the bed, "For the record, the answer is yes—he's a good guy— but I want my deck finished first"
You laughed and smiled big at him, taking your pillow in your lap, giddy at the idea of no longer having to hide your feelings for your dad's employee.

AAAA that's great! I was also desperate for some jesse content, so you're a life saver
So I was thinking of maybe something where Reader is Joel's daughter and jesse is always there at their house help joel with with carpentry/works Joel needs help with, amd I took that as an inspiration of what you said in your other fic about Joel seeing Jesse almost like a son. Reader knows jesse even tho they don't talk that much, but she knows how jesse always seems a bit flushed and trying not to lose composure when she's around them, like he's trying just to see her as my sort-of-boss's daughter. But one of these days when Joel is busy in and out of the house all the time, she decides to "cluelessly" blur some bounderies to see how long Jesse can pretend things are normal
I’m living for this, let me see if I can whip something up 🤭

A 7/11 full of weed?

(Jesse x f!reader)
Word count: 7815
Summary: You and Jesse end up seeking shelter from the snow storm in a 7/11.
Warnings: fluff, dangerous temperatures, mentions of scars, friends to lovers, weed, mention of sexual abuse/trauma, yearning, smut 18+, fingering, unprotected p in v sex, happy ending, angel baby!jesse, golden boy!jesse
A/n: I need more Jesse fics and appreciation so I decided to type this up to sooth myself until I find more LOL Enjoy :)

"I thought you said the storm was gonna pass right over us?" You groaned from your horse as she trotted beside Jesse's. What started as a light snow fall turned into a blizzard in the matter of a couple hours as the two of traveled further on the patrol.
"I was being optimistic" He calls back, tucking his face further into his coat in an effort to shield himself from the weather.
"Yeah well—,” You shouted up to him over the howling wind, “Your optimism is gonna cost me my fingers"
You weren't lying. Your fingers were completely numb. The gloves you had been wearing stood no chance against the negative temperatures.
Jesse looked back at you then and you tried to make out his expression, but you could hardly see him in the white out.
He pulled his radio from his thick coat and spoke into it. You were struggling to hear him over the wind but knew he was calling back to Jackson.
"I know a place we can hold up" He yelled over, this time turning his reigns off the main path where the patrol usually stayed. "Follow me"
You didn't have to be told twice. After a couple more minutes of riding and snow hitting you in the face, buildings appeared in the distance. One that looked to be a brick building under all the snow with faded green and what looked like a 7 on the roof. The other some sort of garage, just across the way.
You watched as Jesse slid off his horse and moved toward what looked to be a garage door. You followed suit, feeling like needles were shooting through your body as you landed on the ground. Fuck.
You stood next you him, watching as he brushed the fresh fallen snow away to expose a rusty handle. You gripped the cold metal next to his hands and attempted to open it with your combined strength. It wouldn’t budge.
"Fuck" He groaned, standing at full height and smacking at the door in frustration, “It's frozen shut"
You glanced at the horses, knowing they were just as cold and could freeze to death if they didn’t get out of the weather soon, "Jesse, what are we gonna do?"
The snow whipped around between to the two of you, swirling white dust clouding your line of sight.
He thought quickly, kicking hard at the latch of the door before moving along the left side and doing the same. It seemed to be working, you could hear the ice cracking.
You copied him on the opposite side of the door, trying to kick hard despite the cold, shooting pain. When he tried the door again, it slid up with ease, exposing a small garage with concrete floors and bales of straw in the corner. It was bare and still cold but it would have to do.
You grabbed the reigns of both horses and ushered them inside as Jesse ripped at a square bale and tossing chunks in front of the animals. Once there was a generous amount left out he was rushing again.
"Follow me" He called again, pulling you away from the horses and back out into the snow. He pulled the door down, closing it tightly before running straight for the other building. Once at the door he moved a large piece of wood before pushing you inside.
You could've never prepared for the sight before you, no matter how distracted by the cold. Marijuana plants lined the inside. To the right of the door hung dried leaves and jars on shelves. There was supplies everywhere for the plants and just pass them in the back of the building was a wood burner that Jesse was already squatted in front of, trying to get it up and running.
All of the once clear windows were painted black and faded, however still preventing anyone from looking in.
"Am I fuckin' hallucinating?"
"Maybe–" Jesse was rushing around the room, moving pass you to the door you'd come in and locking it with another piece of wood that was sat off to the side. He set it in place and pushed on the door insuring it was locked before walking pass you again, "Do you see a 7/11 full of weed?"
"Uh huh" You mumbled, nodding your head as you reached out and touch one of the dry leaves.
"Then no" He said simply.
"Are we safe in here?" You asked, snapping out of your utter surprise as an overgrown tree scratched against one of the windows. Jesse moved back in front of the wood burner, fiddling with the knob again before it ignited.
"Never had an issue with raiders or infected, no one knows this place," He explained, sighing when he felt the small amount of warmth radiating from the box. He glanced over his shoulder at you, "So yeah, it's safe"
You nodded, shivering in your spot still by the door.
"Get over here before you freeze to death" He added, holding his hands out in front of him, absorbing the heat, "It's not a lot, but it'll do"
You did as he said, moving into the back of the room and sitting in front of the heat source on the ground beside him. He was right, it wasn’t doing much but it was better than nothing.
Jesse stood from his spot and moved behind the couch. He had stripped his coat, hat and gloves off, hanging them to dry much like the weed near the front.
After a moment he came back and stood in front of you. When you looked up at him from the ground you noticed he held his hand out expectantly, "Give me your stuff"
"No way, I'm freezing" You argued crossing your arms over the wet coat.
"If you keep them on you'll definitely freeze to death" He argued, taking it upon himself to pull your knit hat off. "They're soaked. If we hang them they'll be dry by the time we leave here"
You huffed, knowing he was right. He always seemed to be. You stood in front of him unzipping the coat and shrugging it off before peeling off your gloves. You hissed at the numbness that was still plaguing your fingers.
You turned just enough so Jesse couldn't see them as he hung your things up next to his. When he was done he pulled the small couch over in front of the heater and shook the dust off the old blankets that were thrown onto it.
You shivered involuntarily, with the coat removed you were left in only a thin blue long sleeved shirt and jeans. The ends of your hair were wet across your back from the snow that had gathered as you rode.
"You know in case of emergencies, such as this, you should be wearing more layers" He reprimanded behind you, seeing you holding yourself in an effort to get warm.
"Thanks captain obvious" You tried to stop the chattering of your teeth to prove a point but you couldn't. He instructed you to sit down on the couch and when you did he placed one of the blankets over your shoulders. It was thin, but provided a way to lock in the heat that would hopefully be coming back soon. "I-I'll r-remember that if we s-survive this"
"We'll be fine" He cupped his hands in front of his mouth and blew hot hair into them. He paced for a minute as if he were thinking, "As long as this heater does its job"
"Is this your place?" You asked, changing the subject as you watched him walk to a box on a shelf on the other side of the room, "Your little hide out?"
"Something like that" He said, digging around. You could see his back muscles flex under his black long sleeve shirt. When he found what he was looking for he turned back to face you and you snapped your attention back to the fire inside of the burner, as if you weren't just staring at him. "It was Eugene's place, he'd found it a couple years back, decided to keep the plants going and harvest them. He showed me once while we were on patrol and swore me to secrecy. Now that Eugene is gone, I come by and harvest what I can"
"Jesse the stoner" You quipped, watching the orange flames dance in the box. He walked back toward you with a package, small enough that it fit in just one of his hands. He was fiddling with the wrapping when you laughed, "Never pegged you as that guy"
"Not a stoner" He defended, finally opening the package that said Hostess on the front. "Just when I need to take the edge off or something"
"I knew it" You breathed, legs bouncing up and down as you sat, "Your sunny disposition makes so much sense now"
"Shut up" He laughed as he held out one of the cakes, waiting for you to take it. When you quirked an eyebrow at it, he added, "Whoever set this place up had a stash of these under the floor board. Eugene said they were popular back before, said they could last through a nuclear apocalypse and still be edible—they're called Twinkie's"
"Oh I've heard of those. Kevin had a whole speech about them a little while back, talking about things he missed from before," You moved the blanket so you could reach out and grab it from him, "—and something called Oreos"
The second he saw your hand he cursed under his breath. The skin was red and swollen, spreading up to your wrist with a waxy like sheen.
"Fuck—let me see your other hand" He revoked the Twinkie, sitting it back down in the plastic and moving to sit beside you on the couch.
You held your other hand out; it was just as red and waxy. Jesse immediately enveloped your hands, cupping them with his own. "Can you feel this?"
"Kinda" You shook your head slowly, teeth still chattering, "They're pretty numb"
You really weren't worried until you saw the look on Jesse's face. He brought the cupped hands to his mouth, blowing hot air directly into them and rubbing his hands over them, creating friction.
He could see that you were still shivering, legs bouncing rapidly against the concrete floor. He dropped one of his hands, pushing the blanket to the side and touching your arm through the fabric.
"We need to get your warm quick" He sighed, suddenly dropping your hands and moving to grab more blankets. He draped another blanket over your shoulders and motioned for you to lie down. Again, you did as he said, trusting that he knew what to do in the situation.
You watched him, face now against the couch cushion with the blanket pulled up to your chin. You were still shivering as he put two more logs into the burner and closed the grate door again.
"This sucks" You said in an attempt to joke about the situation, but you stuttered on the words. Jesse snapped his head to you, seeing your lips were tinged purple.
He was standing again and you watched him kick his snowy boots off before moving to the end of the couch. You could feel him lift your feet and tug carefully before your boots and socks were removed, leaving them bare.
"Even your socks are soaked" He muttered pulling the blanket back down over your feet and hanging your socks up next to the gloves and coats. "You really should get some new boots if you're gonna keep patrolling out here"
You laughed quietly, "I don't think I'm fond of patrols anyway, maybe I'll try again in the s-summer"
"Scoot over" He instructed, standing back in your field of vision.
If you could feel your cheeks, you're sure they would be blushing, "W-what?"
"Relax, I just want to share some of my body heat with you" He explained, watching your wide eyes before adding, "You're going to become hypothermic if we don't bring up your body temperature"
Before you could speak again he was reaching down and physically moving you over, not taking no for an answer.
He laid back with his head against the arm of the couch, next to you and lifted the blankets so he could get under them with you. You held your breath, already feeling warmth radiating from him. Luckily, the couch was long and wide, enough for you both to fit fairly comfortably.
"I don't bite" He chuckled when he noticed how far you were pressed into the back of the couch trying not to touch him. When you didn't laugh, he cleared his throat, looking up at the ceiling. "I'm just trying to help—"
"I know" You responded quietly, body involuntarily shaking from the cold or from the fact that he was laying so close next you, you honestly weren't sure.
He'd heard about your time on the outside before you were taken into Jackson. You'd told him how you were a drifter between different groups as you traveled from the Cleveland QZ. You never went into detail about your time on the outside but he knew that it placed you in less-than-ideal situations. He also knew you didn't like to be touched; that much he'd learned watching you recoil from hugs or any physical contact from others in Jackson.
"Just try to relax. You should warm up soon" He suddenly said, adjusting against the worn-out cushions.
“What are you doing?” You asked, as you watched his eyes flutter close, moving to sit up off the couch.
"Stay,” He said calmly, before looking at you once more. You were still not touching him, staring at him with bewildered eyes, “You need to stay under the blanket, I’m just resting my eyes until you’re warm again, okay?”
He waited for you to nod and slowly sink back into the cushions before he closed his eyes again, still lying on his back. You watched him for a while, until his breathing evened out and you were sure he was sleeping. His lips were parted slightly and quiet snores were escaping. His hands were intertwined loosely on his chest. You appreciated that he had kept his hands to himself.
But you hated the fact that you could feel the space between the two of you, under the blanket, become an oven. Of course, he was right, again.
Over the course of about thirty minutes, you had moved closer to him, making sure he was still asleep as you did. You were starting to get the feeling in your hands and feet back, the numbness slowly dissipating.
Before you knew it, you were tucking your hands against him, sliding them around his bicep so they were pressed against his side. Careful not to wake him you moved closer to rest your cheek against his shoulder. After about an hour you were asleep too, feeling content as the shivering subsided.
*
When you opened your eyes the light through the painted windows was completely gone. The only light was the orange glow from the burner, lighting up the room.
For a moment you forgot where you were, feeling hazy from sleep until you felt hot breath against your hair. You could feel the weight of an arm wrapped around your shoulder and the hard plane of a chest.
At some point the two of you must've adjusted because he had his arm under you and you were now nestled into his side with your head fully on his chest and the blanket pulled up to your face. You wanted to recoil at the feeling of him holding you in place but you didn't. You felt warm down to your feet that had managed to find their way under his legs for warmth.
The wind whistled outside of the thin windows telling you the storm was still raging outside of the building. You briefly thought about the horses but knew the garage across the way was the safest place for them. You were pulled from your thoughts as you felt Jesse shift under you, turning ever so slightly in your direction and tightening his hold on you. You knew it had to have been a reflex but it still made your stomach jump.
With him facing you more now you could see his peaceful expression and feel his breaths escape and fan over your forehead.
It'd been a while since you had let a person get this physically close to you and it surprised you that you didn't mind it. Instead, you moved closer to him, if it were even possible.
"How do you feel?" His voice came out groggy and thick, eyes still closed.
Fuck.
"Uh—better”
"That's good" He said lazily, moving to yawn before realizing his arms were around you. It was his turn to go stiff and panic, "Shit, I-I didn-"
"It's okay—really, I don't mind" You interrupted stopping him from removing himself from you, "You're like a heater"
A deep chuckle erupted from his chest as he relaxed at your words, sinking back into the cushions. "I'm glad I could offer the service"
A silence fell over the two of you now that you were both awake. Neither of you moved from your spots, just listened to the wind howling outside and watching the flames dance in the burner.
"Guess we won't be back in Jackson tonight"
"Guess not" You replied, trying to ignore the way his muscles felt under the fabric of his shirt.
"How do your hands feel?" He asked, remembering that they were on the borderline of frostbite earlier.
You removed them from his arm and out from under the blanket knowing it would be easier for him to look at them and see if you should still be concerned or not.
He took his free hand and grabbed your palm moving it around in the lowlight and examining it. His calloused fingers brushing your skin. "They look a lot better, might make it back with all your fingers and toes after all"
"You thought I was gonna lose my fingers?" You asked, biting at the inside of your cheek as he continued to play with your fingers even after he'd examined them. When he realized what he was doing he dropped your hand and cleared his throat.
"It crossed my mind" He teased, moving his legs under the blanket before turning to look over at you. Your gaze dropped from his eyes to his lips, before flickering back to meet his gaze. You hadn't realized how close he was until you heard his breath hitch in his throat. He sat up suddenly, knocking you off of him in the process.
"You hungry?" He asked, standing from the couch completely and walking over to grab the Twinkie from the counter. You hated that you immediately missed the warmth of his body next to you. "We can heat these over the burner"
"Uh— yeah sure, thanks" You mumbled, sitting up and bringing the blanket with you. The air in the garage was warmer than before but nothing compared to the heat you were just feeling.
He removed the pastry from the plastic again, this time setting them on an old glass plate and positioning them right in front of the heat.
"Is there anything to drink here?" You asked, not really thirsty but attempting to fill the awkward silence.
"Yeah, over in the file cabinet there" He instructed using his free hand to point over to the corner of the room. You lifted yourself off the couch immediately regretting it as your bare feet made contact with the cold concrete. When you opened the file cabinet you found a dusty bottle of brown liquor.
"Oh fancy" You hummed, grabbing the bottle and moving back over to the couch. "Some whiskey should keep the cold away"
After a minute he moved the plate away from the heater and sat next to you on the couch.
You twisted the cap off the bottle of whiskey and taking a small sip. The liquor burned your throat as you swallowed but it was good, well good in your standards.
"Those things look gross" You admitted watching him flip them over as they cooled down. You set the bottle between the two of you on the couch.
"Ye of little faith" He retorted, shaking his head at you and handing you one of the cakes. You took it in your hand and watched as he picked his up. It was golden in color, thick and spongey. "Trust me, you'll like it"
You weren't sure when you started this habit of trusting people, especially men. You assumed when you got to Jackson that it would be the same as everywhere else. You weren't to keen on trusting anyone again. But here you were picking up the likely expired dessert.
You mirrored his movements as he brought the cake to his mouth and took a bite. The texture confused you at first until you tasted the creamy filling inside. It was sweet and heavy yet light, like a whipped cream.
He watched your eyes go wide and you cover your mouth as you spoke, "I've never tasted anything like this"
"It's good right?" He urged, swallowing his bite before taking another.
You did the same and after just a couple of bites it was gone. You cursed yourself for not savoring every bite.
"No wonder the dude had these stockpiled" You squealed, tucking your legs up on the couch and turning to face Jesse. "I'm not kidding—I think that just changed my life"
He took a swig of the whiskey, offering you another sip, which you took before closing it back up. He nodded, amused at your reaction, "And think about how they would taste fresh and not expired"
"Why would you do this to me?" You whined throwing your head back before smacking his arm.
"Hey–" He held his hands up in surrender on the other side of the couch. "You can just say ‘thank you Jesse for introducing my palate to this delicious old world delicacy’"
You rolled your eyes at him, grabbing the bottle of whiskey and taking another swig, feeling the liquid settle in your stomach.
"How about thank you Jesse for keeping me warm"
That caught his attention, something in the way you said it. He shifted on the couch, taking the bottle and sitting it on the table near the couch.
He stood up from his spot and moved to the doors where the two of you had come in. He moved the board and opened the door just enough to look outside. A gust of wind and snow came barreling through the opening, feeling like it slapped you in the face. He closed it again, putting the board back in a locking position.
"I think we should try to head back at first light, I have a feeling this storm is only going to get worse"
You nodded, standing from the couch, this time not caring how cold the floor was. You kept the blanket around your shoulders and let it drag across the ground behind you as you walked. "We've got a couple hours to kill"
He caught you looking at him and moved his attention to the leaves hanging up. He was tall enough that he could reach them easily. "I think I'm going to do up some jars, maybe take some back to town with us"
You moved to the part of the building where the plants were, a lot of them looked dried up and dead, most likely from the cold months and the loss of sun.
"I still can't believe you are Jacksons weed dealer" You laughed, watching him work. You opted for sitting on the counter to the left of him to get your feet off the concrete. Once up you tightened the blanket around your shoulders.
"Why is it so hard to believe?" He ponders, meticulously handling the buds.
"I dunno" You sighed, picking at the loose threads of the blanket and kicking your feet back and forth. "I guess because you're the golden boy of Jackson"
He made a sound, looking over to you. "I am not the golden boy"
You bit your lip to stifle your laugh, but you couldn't contain it. He definitely was. Everyone in town knew they could depend on Jesse. He always kept his word and was nice, sometimes too nice, getting himself roped into helping the elderly in the community or playing with the kids. But was also strong and well versed in combat. Tommy and Joel trusted him like a son.
"What's so funny?" He asked, incredulously. He closed the lid on the 1st jar before turning to look at you.
"Oh nothing" You smiled, clearing your throat to cover the laughing again, "I just think it's funny that you can't see how much of a golden boy you are"
He rolled his eyes at you, crossing him arms over his chest and leaning against the counter that you were sat on. "Has anyone ever told you how infuriating you can be?"
"Hm— infuriating? No" You made a motion in the air while you thought, "Hilarious, yes"
"Now that I think of it annoying would be a better description" He teased, his eyes fixed on you.
You rolled your eyes back at him, glancing around the large room. You weren't sure if it was the liquid courage talking or the silence of the room but you felt the need to speak again.
"You know you're like the only guy around our age who didn't come onto me when I first got to Jackson," The smirk he wore faltered as he pressed him lips in a straight line. He didn't know how to respond, so he didn't say anything at all. When you were meant with silence you pressed, leaning forward on the counter, "Why is that?"
When he realized you were waiting for an answer he shrugged, moving back to his workstation and filling another jar.
You were intrigued by his change in demeanor, so again you pressed, "Was I just that repulsive?"
"Jesus, Y/N—come on" He sighed, not finding the conversation amusing in the way you did. He had remembered how broken you looked when Tommy first introduced him to you and the way you flinched when he held his hand out to you. "Of course, not"
You'd been found by a patrol from Jackson during the warmer months after you had been traveling with a group of four guys. Over the years you'd learned to steer clear of men in general, but they had managed to earn your trust when they saved you from a heard of infected. You were cornered and accepting your death when they came rolling in. They took care of you for a couple of days as you passed through the mountains. They were nice enough until you refused to give them the one thing they wanted. The one thing they saved you for. When you wouldn't put out they decided they would take you by force.
They had beat you half to death and left you for dead afterward.
You distinctly remembered the first time you had seen yourself in the mirror of the infirmary once inside the walls of Jackson. You barely even recognized the woman who looked back at you. Swollen and mangled face with cuts and bruises scattered down your neck. When you were healed enough, with just subtle bruising and healing cuts you were introduced to the town. In the first couple of days, you were approached by many of the eligible bachelors, except the one that had caught your eye.
When you opened your mouth ready to make another sarcastic comment, he spoke again. "You were so different back then, like if the wind blew too hard you would fall over or somethin’”
That wiped the smirk right off your face.
He screwed the lid onto another jar before turning to face you again, seeing the expression on your features, before continuing, "The last thing you needed was those assholes trying to get with you"
You nodded, puffing your cheeks awkwardly and tapping your fingers on the surface of the counter beside your thighs. He was right. It was the last thing you needed or wanted at the time, which is why you avoided and turned down anyone who pursued you in the weeks that followed. Instead, you focused on getting stronger, never wanting to be in a situation where you couldn't defend yourself again.
That's how you became closer with Jesse. He would spend time sparing in the barn with you, teaching you different techniques for hand-to-hand combat and self defense. Soon enough you came out of your shell, especially around him.
You always wondered why he never made a move on you, even after months of training together every day.
He moved beside you to grab another jar down from the shelf behind your head, "Well—uh what about now?"
He froze at the question, arm lingering close your head before he set the jar next you on the counter, turning slowly to look at you. His gaze lingered on your eyes a little too long before he made himself look at the hand that you had moved to fiddle with the jar. "Yeah, things are different now"
"Different how?"
"You ask a lot of questions" He spoke in a low voice, one that he reserved for when the two of you entered abandoned buildings or there were infected around.
"I'm a curious person" You quipped back, meeting his eyes again. This time he didn't look away.
"I've noticed that" He said again, quiet enough that you could hear the wind just outside of the window howling again and your heartbeat pounding in your ears.
You didn't speak again, instead reaching out and grabbing his sleeve, tugging it ever so slightly toward you. From your spot on the counter top you were easily his same height, something you only experienced on horseback.
Your finger hooked into his belt loop before glancing at his lips again. He's so close now that you feel the heat radiating from him again. Before you let yourself overthink, you lean forward and press your lips against his.
His lips part ever so slightly, but he doesn't reciprocate, instead pulling away after a couple of seconds and blinking at you.
"What's wrong?" This time you were whispering, feeling your cheeks heat up at the thought of him not wanting this, "Sorry, I thought—I shouldn't have—"
"No, fuck—no that's not it. I don't want to pressure you or anything just because we are trapped here for the night and–"
"Damn," You giggle at him, now moving your hands up his arms and intertwining them behind his neck. "You're such a respectful, golden boy you won't even kiss me after all this time"
"I'm serious" He whispers but still places his hands on either side of the of you, trapping you against the counter.
"So am I" You whisper back, using your leverage on his neck to pull him closer to you. As you do a strand of his black hair falls into his face and you tuck it back behind his ear, catching a glimpse of his stressed expression, "Do you see anyone holding a gun to my head? Holding me against my will?"
He searched your eyes, eyes dropping to your lips as you leaned closer, your eyes closing as you anticipated the touch of his lips against yours again. His breath was hot, his lips gently touching your own, a soft and teasing caress.
As your lips met again he melted against you, hands moving to hold your waist. His kisses were slow and sensual, as if he was testing the waters, still hesitant and holding back. Instead of letting him overthink you moved your thumb against the nape of his neck soothingly and smiled against his lips, shrugging the blanket from around your shoulders.
He pulled back briefly, searching your face again before capturing your lips once more in a deeper, more passionate kiss. His hands moved to cradle your face as you deepened the kiss, thumbs tracing soothingly across your skin. Slowly, he parted your lips, his tongue running along the soft skin of your bottom lip, his hands gripping your thighs tighter, drawing you closer to him. The kiss deepened, his tongue exploring your mouth, tasting you, claiming you, consuming you.
He angled your head back giving him better access to explore with his tongue as you let a low moan escape your lips. He made a sound in response and you opened your legs to him needing him closer to you.
He settled between your legs and you pulled back just enough to mutter, "You smell like marijuana"
His laugh vibrates your lips making butterflies erupt in your stomach. Those butterflies only got worse when you felt him nip at your bottom lip.
You smirked, pulling away and pushing his head back, exposing his neck to you as your lips trailed down the skin. You heard his breath catch in his throat as his hands gripped at your thighs, "Fuck," he muttered.
Before you let him kiss you again you were reaching for the hem of his shirt, pulling it out from where it was tucked into the waistband of his pants. He got the idea and reached for it, pulling it all the way off leaving his chest bare and exposed to your touch. He shivered slightly as the cool air hit his skin, eyes locking onto yours as you took in the sight of him.
You'd seen him shirtless before, in the hotter months working or building around town when it was entirely too hot to wear a shirt, but never like this. Never this close. He pulled you closer once again, his chest pressed against you as his mouth sought out yours.
As you wrapped your legs around his waist, you could feel the strength and solidity of his body beneath your thighs. His arms encircled you, pulling you close as he lifted you effortlessly off the counter, carrying you as if you weighed nothing. His grip was firm, secure, and you felt a sense of safety as he held you tight against him.
His footsteps faltered slightly as he continued to kiss you, his attention fully focused on the taste of your lips and the feel of your body in his arms. He was wrapped up in the moment, intoxicated by your touch and the way your body responded to his. Unaware of his surroundings, he stumbled slightly, almost tripping over a box of tools on the floor.
Startled by your sudden gasp, Jesse quickly steadied himself, holding you tightly against him. He could feel your face buried in his shoulder, your body laughing slightly from the near fall.
"Please don't drop me" You whined, peppering light kisses along his collarbone.
"Don't worry, I've got you" He let out a low chuckle, his lips brushing against your ear, amused at your reaction and grip on him.
He focused on walking now, moving his thumb against your thigh as he did. You had to bite your lip at the sheer strength he had. You knew he was strong and, well— jacked, but you were not prepared for this.
Jesse carefully lowered himself onto the couch, positioning himself so that you were straddling his lap, your legs still wrapped around his waist. His hands moved back to your thighs, his grip firm yet gentle as he held you close to him.
Now safely settled, you kissed him again, fingers playing with the hair at the nape of his neck and hips moving against him. Your tongues fought for dominance against each other and he kept his hands on your waist, like the golden boy he was.
You rolled your hips lightly against him and smirked when his body jerked. You moved one of your hands from their place, blindly reaching for his hand on your waist. When you did you captured it, dragging it up and under your shirt on your back.
You hissed at how cold his fingers were but quickly recovered when you felt his calloused touch against your skin. You felt the corners of his mouth turn upward as he spread his fingers, moving them carefully.
His other hand found its way under the shirt and on your back soon after, moving up toward your shoulder blades to bring you closer to him.
You pulled back, grabbing your shirt and pulling it over your head in a quick motion, tossing it somewhere near the wood burner.
He gaped at you, not for your boobs or exposed skin, but for the scar that ran from your collarbone straight in a diagonal line and stopping at the top of your left breast.
He'd seen you in low cut tops in the warmer months but he'd only ever gotten glances when it peeked through, it never occurred to him that it continued on.
You moved your hair to the side, fingers falling to fiddle with the button of his pants, hoping it would move the moment along, but it didn't.
Instead he took his index finger and traced the scar, leaving goosebumps in his wake, "What's this from?"
"Knife" You said simply, leaning in and capturing his lips with your own; a plea to shut him up.
He kissed you back but only for a minute before he turned his head to the side, breaking the seal of your lips, "What happened?"
You rolled your eyes, turning your attention to his neck, sucking and kissing at the skin. He seemed to stiffen, so you huffed, moving back to sit up straight, "Remember the story I told you about the group I was with before Jackson?" You didn't wait for him to answer, you knew he remembered, he always remembered stories you told him, "They did it"
"It was deep" He said, examining it again before looking up at you when you let out a dry laugh. "You never said what happened"
You moved your hands from his pants because it clearly wasn't helping you change the subject, and instead settled them on his shoulders.
When you thought about being half naked with Jesse this is not what you had in mind.
You looked at the space behind him, where you two had started this whole thing, biting at your cheek. You didn't want to sugar coat it for him, the way you did the others who had the nerve to ask. You liked Jesse, you really liked him. You wanted to be honest. "I—uh, thought they were good men– they got me out of a sticky situation with some infected…"
While you spoke Jesse played with your hair, twisting the ends gently between his fingers. "I didn't plan on staying with them, I preferred to be alone out there. But they told me they had families; wives and daughters—said they were about a four day trek away, talked me into it. About a day later they came on to me around the fire after they set up camp—"
You hated that you had his full attention, feeling nervous under his gaze suddenly while you spoke, "I thought it was a joke at first, told them I wasn't interested but they—uh didn't like that"
"So when George and the others found you, that was—" He trailed off, Adam's Apple bobbing as he swallowed.
You nodded, finger nails absentmindedly pressing into his skin, "They beat me, cut me— afterwards they held me down, took their turns and left me for dead"
You felt like you were floating outside of your body, seeing yourself on Jesses lap from the side, shirts missing and an uncomfortable silence.
"I didn't know" Jesse said, hands on your thighs, rubbing them soothingly, bringing you back to your body.
"It's not exactly something I tell a lot of people—or well anyone" You were the most vulnerable you'd been right there in that moment and you hated it, "At least I got a cool scar from it"
Jesse didn't laugh, instead he moved his hand up to your face, cupping your cheek. The gesture and expression on his features instantly made you feel the same way you'd felt the day you were saved. Broken.
And he must've realized because before you knew it he had moved his hand to the back of your neck and was pulling you against him. You let him, body curling into him and face burying into his neck. His hands moved to rub your back soothingly.
You hadn't hugged someone for longer than you'd like to admit, and after that incident you avoided being touched all together.
"Jesse" You mumbled, voice muffled against his skin. When he hummed you continued, "Does all that—uh bother you? I know it's a lot and the—"
He didn't let you finish, moving his head and catching your lips in a soft kiss. He pulled back then kissed you again before pressing his forehead to yours "Does that answer your question?"
You couldn't hide the way the corners of your mouth twitched in a small smile as you nudged his nose against yours.
You moved from his lap, throwing yourself to the other side of the couch and lying on your back. He watched you amused at the sudden movement.
"C'here" You requested quietly, propping yourself up on your elbows.
He raised an eyebrow at you, intrigued by your request. He obeyed, moving on the couch before crawling toward you, stopping when he could hover above you. One of his legs found its spot between your legs and your hands moved over his biceps.
You leaned up, desperate for him. He met you halfway, tongues tangling together almost immediately. His hand held your face before dragging down to your bra, where it stopped momentarily on the scar again, before massaging your breast, squeezing it gently.
You shifted underneath him so you could reach for his button and zipper again but he stopped you, grabbing your hand, "Are you sure?"
You nodded, biting your lip at the sight of him above you.
"Use your words" He instructed, "I need to know"
"Jesse" You groaned, throwing your head back against the cushion, "I've been sure for a long time"
He smiled at that, leaning down and kissing you before sitting up on the couch, hands finding your zipper and tugging your jeans down your legs.
You sat up, eager to take his pants off for him, unzipping them and pulling them down his thighs. His bulge was prominent and when no longer restricted it sprung under his boxers.
You reached around your back, contorting slightly to un-zap the clasp of your bra before tossing it.
You threw yourself back down, eager to have him back on-top of you. Luckily he didn't want to waste time either because you were barely able to shimmy off your underwear before he was coming back above you.
His mouth came to your neck, nipping at the skin there as he moved down. His lips found your scar and he took his time pressing gentle kisses along the length of it. That gesture alone could have made you ascend from your body. Just the idea of him taking care of you, the feeling of respect that you had been denied the last time a man was on top of you. He moved further down to your breasts, sucking at your nipples.
At some point he had moved his hand down between your thighs and when his calloused fingers grazed your folds you nearly fell apart. You held your breath as his fingers found your clit and his mouth came back to you, kissing you sloppy.
"Jesse" You moaned, feeling him against your thigh, "Please"
"Listen" He whispered in your ear, fingers halting on the sensitive spot between your legs, "You say the word and I'll stop —I won't ask any questions"
Yep. That was the hottest thing you'd heard.
"I know" You breathed, unable to hide how desperate you were, "I trust you"
That was all the reassurance he needed as he lined himself up with your entrance. As he pushed into you he caught your lips, kissing you hard.
You gasped into his mouth at the sudden sensation as he gave you moment to adjust to his size before rolling his hips into you.
He developed a rhythm as you moved your hands from his neck, spreading them across the plane of his back and dragging your nails against his skin. He moaned, making you feel weak, "You okay?"
You couldn't speak, not when you were this close, so instead you hummed, nodding and gripping him harder. He picked up his speed, using the back of the couch as a brace as he moved in and out of you, faster and faster. He was biting into your shoulder, trying to control himself.
"I'm close–" You whined, squeezing your eyes shut. “Jess—“
"I know, babygirl," His voice alone nearly pushed you over the edge. You felt him lift one of your thighs, the position unlocking a whole new pleasure as you reached the edge clutching onto his arm and biting slightly to muffle your screams.
The sight of you desperately clinging onto him and riding the wave of your orgasm is what sent him over the edge as he pulled out of you turning to the side and releasing his seed on one of the blankets in the ground. Neither of you had anything close to birth control or condoms, so the pull out method was the only option.
When he came back to you, he laid his head on your chest, his hand finding yours on your stomach. The two of you lie there, breathing rapidly with sheen of sweat across your foreheads.
"You're shaking again" He whispered, reaching for a different blanket from earlier. "Are you cold?"
"N-not cold" You muttered, moving to face him, brushing the hair that stuck to his forehead back, "Just happy"
"You're sure?" He asked, still pulling the blanket up and over the both of your bodies.
You nodded, feeling content and nuzzling into his side, "Was that uh–good for you?"
Jesse nodded, his breath coming in ragged breaths as he laughed against your skin. "Are you kiddin'," He lifted his head and kissed you again, feeling dazed. "I've never been so thankful for snow storm"
You smiled against him, feeling pure bliss. You sat up slightly, trying to untangle the mess of limbs under the blanket before cuddling into his side, your leg thrown over his legs.
"Are your feet always this cold?" He muttered against your hair, fingers tracing your naked arm, leaving goosebumps.
"You'll get used to it" You teased tracing his chest, eyes flickering closed to the sound of his heartbeat, not even a small part of you worried that you insinuated this happening again.
You wanted it to. You wanted him like this, forever.
"We'll see about that" He quipped, using both his arms around you to keep you tight against him as your breath began to even out, "Just wait til I get you those new boots, you'll have the warmest feet in Wyoming"
For the first time in a long time you felt loved. You wouldn't be letting this feeling go anytime soon.

Jesse, who saw the horses at the lodge. Who crept in and cleared every corner before he realized it was just him and his two best friends and a dead man.
Jesse, who probably thought Dina was dead at first, too, and Dina, desperate and confused, who probably croaked out Ellie’s name before anything else, and the two of them looking upon Ellie laid across Joel’s cooling body.
Jesse, who probably made sure Dina could sit up, drink water, before stepping over and kneeling beside Ellie because, “we gotta go.” Ellie, in shock, who probably let Jesse pull her off of Joel without resistance but didn’t let go of Joel’s hand.
Jesse, who wrapped Joel’s body alone, because Dina could just barely sit upright and Ellie had a blankness to her that he’s never seen in another person. Who prepared the horses and was probably considering how they were going to get back to Jackson with two horses and three people and one fatality, just for Dina to pull herself up onto her horse by herself and wave him off when he tried to help.
Jesse, who put Ellie on his own horse, pulled himself up after her. Who made sure Ellie was safe in his grasp even as she strained against him to look back at what remained of her father.
Jesse, who lost a mentor, and a comrade, and the girl he loved that day, all in different ways. Who probably went home that night and went over every detail about the day in his head, wondering where he went wrong, what he could have done differently, if he could have prevented this. Who probably blames himself for this.
