Vasculair dement

In dit tijdperk van de gelijkgeschakelde confectiemens doen de kwade kabouters aan lenige luchtfietserij.

Ze zijn hier, voor het bier. Paranoïde achterdocht is hun credo: Lang leve de happy pedo.

Het luchtalarm gaat al af. De meisjes zoeken dekking, de jongens daarentegen maken salto's op een trampoline van vuur.

De distels van het kwaad braken lava uit waar ik m'n fikken aan brand. Waar ben jij, nu ik je nodig heb? Jij met je geborduurde maandverband.

Trollen verzorgen mijn wonden in het veldhospitaal van de gouwleider. Bij gebrek aan beter met zoutzuur en duct tape. Hoewel dood brengen opa en oma een heksenketel met morfine en lood.

"Rare jongens, die Romeinen."

Tenslotte sleept een zwart elfje me naar de gesloten afdeling van de bedeling. (Laat alle hoop varen, gij die hier binnentreedt.)

Pipo zelf is er ook. Hij zingt een lied van saudade en sucade. Luchtmens daarentegen hoort als enige de hoefslag van de dood. Zelfs zijn vuurtijd kent een ijzig wak.

Als beweging de enige waarheid is, mompelt hij, waarom krijg ik dan geen leasebak?

Zelf blijf ik obstinaat volharden in hardleersheid. Als laatste doe ik het licht uit. De psychiater prik ik dood met een speld. Het songfestival is dan al tot nader order uitgesteld.

De kabouters zet ik droog. In een spel van heers en verdeel en slinkse twisten dump ik ze allemaal bij de Anonieme Alcoholisten.

De witte wieven werpen nog een Molotovcocktail. De hens gaat in de tent. En moeder? Die is vasculair dement.

Ongeluk in de Gasthuisstraat De moedige tussenkomst van vier toeschouwers redt het leven aan een moeder en haar kind. Vrijdagmorgen rond 9u30 werd de Gasthuisstraat en de talrijke personen die rond dit uur van of naar de markt komen, in hevige opschudding gesteld door een ongeval dat de dood van een moeder en haar tweejarig kind had kunnen voor gevolg hebben, ware het niet geweest van de rappe en moedige tussenkomst van vier inwoners uit de straat.

We starte de ochtend bij mij om de hoek in Strijen om vervolgens door tee rijden naar het gezellige Leersum. Sanne was naarstig op zoek naar een zadel voor haar gevoelige Dreamboy x Jazz merrie Luna. Sanne ervaarde weerstand in de trainingen, Luna sloeg af en stond vaak op haar achter benen. Samen met haar stalgenoot schakelde ze mijn hulp in. Na de uitvoerige zadelevaluatie vanmiddag kwamen we er achter dat Luna behoorlijk compenseert in haar lijf. Het oude zadel schoof daarbij te ver naar voren waardoor Luna het zadel naar rechts duwde door de prominente linkerschouder en een rechter achterbeen die iets meer door treed waardoor Sanne op rechts valt in het zadel. Van de verschillende zadels die Sanne probeerde kwam de Kingsley D1 het dichtst in de buurt van wat ze al die tijd zocht in een zadel. Genoeg steun op het moment dat Luna stout zou doen maar toch genoeg vrijheid om met een los been te rijden en onafhankelijk te zitten. Overigens had Luna geen zin om stoute dingen te laten zien omdat madam geen last meer van het zadel had! De Kingsley D1 lag mooi in balans achter de schouder en was kort genoeg. Met andere woorden: prinses Luna gaf aan erg tevreden en dankbaar te zijn. Overigens is het niet allemaal rozengeur en manen schijn want ook dit Kingsley D1 zadel gleed iets weg naar rechts. Maar dit werd snel opgelost toen Sanne Luna iets rechter maakte op de tweede hoefslag. Dit rijtechnisch gedeelte kan nu verder uitgewerkt worden nu Luna en Sanne weer vooruit kunnen zonder dat Luna pijn ervaart. Dankbaar dat ik jullie weer op weg heb kunnen helpen Sanne! Dit is waar ik het voor doe! Nu lekker knallen de komende tijd en ik kijk naar de check over een paar maanden! Vandaag fotografeer ik in Hoevelaken, deze keer geen paarden maar mensen. Voor Hoefslag vind er zich een rond de tafel gesprek plaats, het is een soort van discutie / Groepsintervieuw elk van de deelnemers is een expert op zijn eigen vakterein dus er komen zeer boeiende gesprekken uit voort. Ik fotografeer de deelnemers tijdens het debat zowel individueel als met anderen en op het einde maak ik van iedereen nog even individueel een portretje.

HEROINE ROTTERDAM

Yet another great opening in Het Industriegebouw in Rotterdam. A fine dining restaurant by the people behind De Matroos en het Meisje. With the very exciting name Héroine.

  Het Industriegebouw

If you go to Rotterdam, you only have to save 1 pin on Google Maps nowadays and that is the one of Het Industriegebouw. The building has been there since 1952 and is a symbol for the post-war construction of the city. A few years ago it was bought by a Rotterdam investor who turned it into a modern hotspot. The architects of MVRDV work there, you can shop at Groos and there are cool restaurants such as By Jarmusch, Old Scuola and Alfredo’s Taqueria. Héroine is the latest addi(c)tion. I spoke with owner Eva Eekman who runs Héroine together with chef Michael Schook and sommelier Fred de Neef.

  De Matroos en het Meisje

The idea of a new restaurant was born at De Matroos en het Meisje where Eva is also the owner together with two other silent partners: “Michael came from Restaurant de Hoefslag and started there as a chef three years ago. He always had the ambition to open something himself and because we work together so well, the idea of Héroine was born quickly after. I think De Matroos en het Meisje is perfect. The restaurant stands like a house. But I didn’t came up with the idea and I didn’t opened the restaurant myself, so it’s great to set something up from scratch. So you can implement everything you find important to create the perfect picture. With Héroine we can really show the better version of ourselves.”

  Contradictions

Héroine is actually a combination of contradictions: “We are in an industrial building, but we do not want an industrial image. We want to focus on fine dining, but not with the corresponding prices and etiquette. We want a beautiful, feminine, strong name with a wink.” That took some time: “The process of selecting the name was even more difficult than making up the names of our children, also because we had a certain idea and had to discuss it with three different people. Héroine is feminine, tough and open to interpretation. It means heroine. And it fits with our ideas of the interior and the food of Michael which are more refined dishes, rather than rough food.”

  The design

For the design they worked together with Modiste. A known name for fans of Petite Passport because they also did the interior of Bonanza Coffee in Kreuzberg, Berlin: “Joeri and Marick from Modiste immediately came up with atmospheric images that made us happy. They found the same things important as us. Lighting, comfort, practicality above design. We wanted to create something we haven’t necessarily seen a lot and they have translated that into this interior. The style is warm, 70’s, with the use of beautiful materials, fabrics and furniture.” Striking in the interior are the Burgundy red couches, the plant wall and the many Wishbone chairs by Danish designer Hans J. Wegner, which we have seen at Bonanza Coffee also.

  The food

Together with friends I tried the delicious 4-course menu. You can choose from a 4-, 5-, 6- or 7-course menu. Indicate whether you are a vegetarian or have other dietary requirements and then you will be surprised with the tastiest dishes: “You don’t know what you get. Usually, with an a la carte menu, you choose quite quickly what you know and like. Now we choose for you. We use responsible products in the kitchen with a lot of seasonal products. With this idea we almost throw nothing away. Because guests do not know what they eat, we can process leftovers in the menu or as an amuse. The wine list is made up of 5 different suppliers and has 100 titles and 15 wines per glass. We make the liqueurs ourselves and soon we will make our own soft drinks.”

  The recommendation

When I ask Eva what she would recommend, she says: “I would always choose the 7-course menu because I want to taste everything and wouldn’t want to miss the top-dish. But it depends on your companionship, the reason and the moment. If you have something to celebrate for example, it can be as extensive as you like, but if you just want to come and eat something, or you never eat so much, you take fewer courses. You can also just hang out at the bar and only order bar snacks.”

INTERN: 6/02

De beelden die ik gisteren bewerkte van SPOGA Horse moeten vandaag op de beeldbank ingeladen worden. Het artikel waar de foto’s voor gemaakt zijn is vandaag al naar de drukker dus ik moet er vooral voor zorgen dat deze beelden van duidelijke en nuttige trefwoorden voorzien worden zodat deze later nog nuttig kunnen zijn. Wanneer ik eraan begin merk ik dat de namen waaronder ik veel van de artikelen op de foto’s ken niet altijd overeen komen met hoe deze in Nederland heten. Om er voor te zorgen dat de tags op de beeldbank consistent zijn ga ik opzoek naar de trefwoorden die reeds gebruikt werden op eerdere beelden. Hierdoor duurt het allemaal wat langer en ben ik hier bijna de hele dag mee bezig. Naargelang ikdoor de foto’s ging pikte het tempo wel aardig op, de volgende keren zal dit wel vlotter gaan. Verder belde ik vandaag nog even met Karin de Haan, hoofdredacteur bij cap en hoefslag, we bespreken een paar reeds geplande opdrachen en een paar nieuwe. De telefoonverbinding probeerd een aantal keer de goede werking te saboteren maar met een mailtje achteraf is alles uitgeklaart. de rest van de dag zoek ik nog wat naar inspiratie en voorbeelden voor komende shoots
