Gandalf the White Staff in real life

Tag 96: Wai O Tapu und Hobbiton

Der erste Teil des Tages war dafür reserviert uns Wai O Tapu anzugucken einen Park, welcher eine Ansammlung an Pools, geformt von der vulkanischen Aktivität zeigt. Durch Metall-, und Mineralvorkommen zeigen sich allerlei bunte Farben. Wai O Tapu an sich war wirklich hübsch, wenn auch ein wenig überlaufen.

Sehr enttäuschend hingegen war der Besuch des Lady Knox Geysirs. Zu allererst: es ist kein natürlicher Geysir sondern es wird ein Pulver in ein Loch geschüttet und dadurch sprudelt dann Wasser hoch. Quasi wie bei einer Badekugel. Trotzdem wird der „Geysir“ von allen Seiten angeprisen und dadurchkomplett überrannt. Es wurde eine Art Tribüne gebaut um den „Geysir“ zu sehen, aber dafür ist es viel zu voll. Für mich komplett unverständlich und eine absolute Zeitverschwendung, denn es gibt so viele echte natürliche Geysire in der Gegend welche regelmäßig ausbrechen, dass ich den Hype absolut nicht verstehen kann.

Das war mein grandioser Ausblick:

Außer Handys absolut nichts zu sehen. 😂😂 Selbst wenn man sich die Bewertungen im Internet anschaut wird man gewart aber trotzdem ist der Geysir noch im Programm. Für mich eine absolute Touristenfalle.

Das Ganze machte ja aber zum Glück nichts, weil ich habe am Tag zuvor ja schon einen richtigen Geysir gesehen. Mit viel weniger Menschen und ganz ohne Seife. 🙊

Im Anschluss ging es nach Hobbiton. Ich muss mich ja jetzt hier mal Outen: ich habe weder einen Herr der Ringe noch einen Hobbitfilm gesehen. Wobei stimmt garnicht. Ich glaube bei dem ersten Hobbitfilm war ich im Kino aber 1. kann ich mich kaum noch erinnern und 2. kann ich das wenig was ich noch weiß kaum einordnen in das komplexe Herr der Ringe Universum.

Trotzdem muss ich sagen: es war unglaublich cool zu sehen und interessant die Geschichten zu hören. Es steckt unheimlich viel Liebe zum Detail in dem ganzen Set um es so präzise wie möglich zum Buch anzupassen.

Außerdem ist es einfach süß und ich kann jetzt sagen ich war mal da. 😂 Also selbst für nicht Hobbitfans durchaus einen Besuch wert.

An dem Abend haben wir dann nurnoch gepackt und am nächsten morgen ging es zurück Richtung Auckland und dann mit der Fähre nach Waiheke Island zum Glamping. Dort haben wir nicht viel gemacht außer entspannt und am Strand gelegen. Was soll ich sagen: ich bin jetzt ein Glampingfan und hoffe das irgendwann mal für ein paar Tage zu wiederholen. 😂

Here you can see the first and only most accurate replica of Aragorn's grey shirt. 100% linen shirt. Great for medieval feasts, LOTR cosplay and LARP. It has an unusual shaped yoke with a neck hole small enough that when the shirt is tied, the collar rolls up to the neck so it appears to be a collar. The yoke is finished with hand embroidered "X"s along the yoke seam (on the yoke side). The yoke finishes square, about an 1"-2" down the shoulder. Sleeves aren't set in, they are square, there is no gusset. The extra movement room comes from the gathering of the body of the shirt. The body of the shirt is lightly gathered into the yoke both front and back. The shirt is open in front to mid chest. It has two ties of nylon cord. The end of the slit is finished with a patch about 1"-1,5" square that is top stitched into place. The sleeves themselves are a fairly loose tube. They are sewn closed up to the wrist. There are a double pare of cords sewn in at this point. The sleeve then extend another 3"-3,5" inches over his hand. There is no seam showing there, so the fabric double back all the way to the wrist, forming a cuff. At the top of the sleeve there is a complex pattern of smocking. This is a separate piece from the sleeves. It is a rectangle piece of fabric and does not go all around the sleeve. The under part of the sleeve is again plain fabric that has been stitched to the smocking piece. Soon there will be more photos and tutorials on the pattern on the sleeves.
