Rant about boats lol
Call me crazy, but I consider Last Days Of The Thunderchild to be the canonical look of HMS Thunderchild, While I do like Baron Engel's depiction looking like HMS Victoria, Thunderchild to me has always been a outdated ironclad ram pressed back into service during the Martian invasion, basically whatever the channel fleet had laying around in the shipyard.

Day 28-Thunderchild
Day 28-Plot Twist
Other Stories
Other Days
Admiral William Murdoch stared out at the massive battleship sitting nervously in Drydock 4. Strictly speaking Drydock 4 was not for military vessels, but it was the only open Drydock capable of fitting the German Behemoth. HMS Hood normally was an impressive sight, and in fact the Admiral Class battlecruiser was longer of the two by some 60 feet, but with Hood alongside Bismark in drydock 3 it was clear at a glance which ship was the larger vessel.
The Admiral drummed his fingers on his arm as he observed Hood happily chatting to her German rival. Officially Hood had been put in drydock for routine inspection, which was being carried out. Unofficially it was to keep her new friend calm as her ammunition was removed.
Most ships, having found their enemy's new flagship drifting abandoned on the Atlantic, would have sunk it without a second thought. Instead Hood had befriended the blasted thing and brought it home.
He frowned, Hood had deeply complicated matters. The Royal Navy now had Germany’s Flagship sitting in drydock, and no idea what to do with her.
If Vice Admiral Holland’s report was correct, the ship had already managed to wrestle control from her original crew, so putting her into service with the Royal Navy was not an option unless the vessel agreed to it. Hood's report read much the same. While intelligence reports had noted unrest at the shipyards Bismark had been built at, no one had realized the dissent towards the regime among the shipyard workers had been taught to the new battleship, much less cause her to desert outright.
The Admiral stared at the battleship for a moment longer then returned to his desk. No matter what was done with their guest in the long term, he knew they could not let the Germans find out they had her. Better for them to think she had been lost outright. She needed to be made to look like part of the Royal Navy, and named as such.
He nodded, yes that was the best plan. Let Germany wonder how they had built such a monster without them realizing. If they handled this right, Germany would probably think their ‘new’ ship had sunk Bismark.
He considered names for a long moment as he wrote out orders for her to be repainted into royal navy livery, and for the changes necessary to disguise her as a British built ship
He smiled as the perfect name occurred to him.
HMS Thunderchild, first of her class.
A/N: Hello Loves! Hood found Bismark adrift in the Atlantic andshowed up to Vicarstown like "She followed me home, Can I keep her?" I hope you enjoyed, Love Y'all!

Top Ten Albums
I might be the wrong person to ask since my tastes vary wildly, but I'll try I'll do it for you @lilmissnatcat24
Rules: List your top 10 favorite albums, and (if you want) include a brief description for why each one made it onto the list. Then, tag 10 (or however many you want, really) others to do the same.
You want to try?@strawberrykidneystone No pressure if not. I promise.
1# Daft Punk: Discovery (2001)
Featuring the first appearance of the DJ duos iconic headgear, a tie in ANIMATED FILM and an hour of tracks that range from perfect for clubbing (One More Time) to a song that makes you want to grab onto who you hold most dear. (Something about Us) Discovery holds a special place in my heart, having listened to it dozens of times over the years, owning it on CD and digital and feeling its style changed my outlook on music entirely.
2# Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds (1978)
Embarrassed to admit, my introduction to H.G Wells Sci-Fi classic The War of the Worlds was composer Jeff Wayne's musical adaptation from the '70s. With a distinct funky style mixed with a mix of classic keyboard and vocals, his retelling of an England under siege by Martian invaders made me a fan of the novel and spinoffs to this day. The track detailing the valiant act of HMS Thunderchild against a trio of Martian tripods is in my mind the standout piece. (hell it's on the cover)
(Wayne did do a modern remake in 2012, featuring Liam Neason and a more Techno-Electric backing. I like both but prefer the original)
3# Sabaton Heroes (2013)
My darkest hour, deep in my thankfully long dead Wehraboo phase *shivers* I discovered Swedish Power Metal band Sabaton and their 2013 Album Heroes. Dedicated to unsung heroes of WW2 it includes tracks on the exploits of an all female bomber regiment on the eastern front (Night Witches), the unsung men of the Brazilian expeditionary Force in Italy (Smoking Snakes) and Karel Janoušek, the man who commanded free Czech pilots against the Lufftwaffe over France and Britain in 1940. (Far from Fame) Heroes gives forgotten parts of the past a new light. And for Sabaton? This will not be the last time they appear.
4# Marty Robins, Gunfighter Ballads and Other Trail Songs (1959)
Not a fan of country, but between one of its tracks inclusion in Fallout: New Vegas (Big Iron)and my love for historical ballads Robins' nostalgic send up to the romanticized American West (As opposed to its actual, much less family friendly, historical truth) is a guilty pleasure that I actually went so far as buying a CD of for a road trip. El Paso a tale of love and violence is probably my favorite track.
5# Sods Opera Come on Lads!
WW2 pub songs as they were originally performed, with all the filthy language and vulgarity intact. Nothing better to wash the dishes to, or perform in the shower. Standout is a heartbreaking rendition of The D-Day Dodgers
6# Sabaton, The War to End All Wars (2022)
100% Bias since I had the absolute privilege to see this performed in concert, Sabaton's excellent second part to their 2019 The Great War album is masterful in bringing to light the forgotten stories of the poorly branded Great War. The standout for me is Christmas Truce, a retelling of the 1914 spontaneous holiday cease fire held in some parts of France between Entente and German troops. We actually sang this together as the audience. *Chills*
(My first concert experience. Could barely speak the next day my throat hoarse from screaming)
7# Daft Punk Random Access Memories
I still remember picking up the CD for myself well Christmas shopping back in 2013. Random Access Memories is a walk back in time, to the age of disco, funk and the beginnings of techno. With talent like Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams and Pharrell... Williams (no relations) it was their most mainstream album to date, winning them a Grammy award that same year. It was also their final album, but at least they ended on a high note.
8# Michael Giacchino Medal of Honor Frontline soundtrack
I'm going to have to stretch the definition of "album" here, but Micheal Giacchino (Of Ratatouille and The Batman fame) and the Northwest Sinfonia performance is on par with any big budget film. In that same style as those classic '60s and '70s war films with just a touch of Indiana Jones style pulp mixed in, I honestly use this as a workout aid sometimes because it really gets your blood pumping. Perfect music to shoot Nazis to.
9# The Flaming Lips Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (2002)
Can't rightly describe this album, but it has such a diverse mix of style and surreal sound that I've always come back to it. The titular song, alongside Fight Test are my favorites.
10# Smokey Bastard Propping up the Floor (2008)
As is obviously clear I like history. So it's of little shock I like a good sea shanty or ballad, mix a bit of rock in there and to quote Carl Weathers "Baby, you’ve got a stew going." Their rendition of The Cumberland Crew is especially moving.

HMS Thunderchild by Baron-Engel
So after being linked to this video: HMS Thunderchild - A bad day to be a Tripod, by @swedebeast, I decided to look for the piece of art shown in the video.
And now, when I listen to Jeff Wayne’s Thunder Child, this is what I will envision, blasting away at the Martians.

I also found it interesting as USS Thunderchild was in three different on screen conflicts and survived all of them.
It's namesake is the HMS Thunder Child, from HG Well's *War of the Worlds* where an battleship makes a sacrifice play to distract three Martian tripods from refugees fleeing the invading Martians. This top of the line ship for 1903 takes out one tripod with it's guns, and since it's severly damaged by the heat rays from the tripods, ramms a second, destroying the tripod and itself. By the time the smoke clears, the fleeing ships are out of range of the heat ray of the third, still standing, tripod.
The HMS Thunder Child is the only time we really see human weapons take out any of the Martian fighting machines.
The HMS Thunder Child scene tends to exist only in period pieces. The only adaption that kept this scene is Orsen Well's 1938 radio adaption, and it's changed to be a B-29 bomber. After that point, with the invention of nuclear weapons, the HMS Thunder Child scene is replaced with a scene of the Martians no-selling an atomic bomb.
Also, the HMS Thunder Child scene is one of the very few scenes not witnessed by the Narrator, but by the Narrator's wife.
The Akira-class U.S.S. Thunderchild CG model, as she appeared in the movie Star Trek: First Contact. Built by ILM. Despite looking fantastic on film, looking at the model close up reveals lots of 1990's CG crust.
The Akira-class would go on to be the inspiration for Enterprise NX-01, from Star Trek: Enterprise. Supposedly the producers wanted the Akira model used unchanged, and Doug Drexler and others had to plead to be permitted to build a new similar-but-different model with era-appropriate detailing (since ENT was set more than 200 years prior to FC)

D&D Quotes Without Context
Treasure Island edition, Chapter 9
GM OOC: Okay Sahaugin's (I hate trying to spell that word) turn. OOC: Fish guys. OOC2: Soggy ones. OOC: So he made friends with one of the heads? OOC: Half-stoned croc. "I'M GONNA GUT YOU, CLEAN Y OU, DRY YOU, THEN STICK GOOGLY EYES ON Y OUR SKULL AND SELL IT IN A CHEAP GIFT SHOP." MJ moves her arms in arcane motions as dark clouds gather, her staff crackling with electricity… before she tosses little bags full of dried beans at them. "WOO! BRING THE THUNDER MJ! AND THE LIGHTNING, AND THE HAIL, AND MAYBE A LITTLE LIGHT RAIN, AND SOME FOG AND can she make it rain toads?" MJ puts a brownie on her corpse. “I regret only not making more brownies!” The Crocodile, which you may now name if you want, happily starts eating their former handlers' remains. "Ded shall call you......Doublemint." Dingo crawls down to make sure they know the pecking order. A few knife threats later and Doublemint knows their place. "Quite nice accommodations. Seems poorly defended though, the Red Baron can swoop right in." As a loyal servant to his Prince, Magnus is compelled to partake from what's in the most elaborate, gaudy and probably expensive bottle, even if its where Thunderchild keeps Wow-Wow Sauce. “MJ. Paying of student loans, merry wanderer of the night and purveyor of herbal supplements.” "We did get an... alligator.. out of the deal.." MJ blinks. “I’m gonna color now. Dingo, take notes.” "Flint? FLINT! Bark! Bark bark!" "... are you barking...? Or saying bark?" "Flint say Flint come back soon! But Flint no come back soon! Flint leave Ded here!" “My mom said the same thing when she left me at school.” "People. Ain't. Cargo." "Yes: people boxes need air-holes." "Hm." Janus says. He then stands up. "Excuse me a moment wont you?" He walks over to the beach, you see him dunk his head under the water for a full minute as bubbles rise up in a frenzy. He then returns and sits back down. ".... Those fish didn't deserve to hear that...." "I shall send them a formal written apology. And Ham. Fish like Ham don't they?" “Unless they have religious objections.” "... ham and peanut butter... Not at the same time of course..." OOC: Anyway, time to learn some of the disadvantages of being a marine biologist. OOC: We need to get Amber some mixed Energon drinks.
