i think trans striders r an interesting concept since both striders have a weird relationship with gender and the guys n gals in their lives (esp dirk).

dirk's like... i feel like he listens to women almost to the point of condescension?? (insane sentence give me a sec) he was always neurotic about being in control and within the lens of hypermasculinity its pretty off putting the way he makes it so he has the last say (or twists what others say) despite 'listening' to them. "i know what's best and while i respect your opinion i will not do that" he doesnt give people the chance to take accountability for their own actions, always shouldering the blame like they dont have agency. dude feels pathetically guilty about not being able to reciprocate roxy's advances and equates it to a moral failing on his part. u know those transmascs that do misogyny or perpetuate toxic masculinity, trying to 'make up' for their transness. its giving that.

i think theres also a case to be made for transfem dirk. theres the obvious transgirls in stem + mlp thing going on but also caliborn was a pretty blatant misogynist foil to him. caliborn representing the type of guy he's stereotypically supposed to be but not being like that at all. partially because he's not a guy.

i read dave as transfem or gnc, something that he would come to terms with after the game. he would get closure with dirk, getting the memo that dirk, was in fact a gay man, and he would put it into perspective the hypermasculine freak shit his bro did. would have loved to read the ensuing 'mspa reader breakdown' that ensued. bro trying to mold him into the knight (another symbol of masculinity) so he can be the dirk of his friend group. nah m8 dave of transexuality seems better. i understand the frustration with “i made this gay pairing cis x trans so they can still have biological babies” with no thought to other methods and how ppl assume thats the case when it comes to mothpool aus where mothwing is also the mother of the three, but also…. idk i kinda dont give a shit if someone wants to do that and i dont really think its inherently transphobic as long as its handled with care and respect.

what really concerns me about this debate is how some people are adamant that you cannot portray trans people having biological children in media or youre being disrespectful. and im gonna say as a nonbinary person who doesnt want children for themself- thats kinda fucking weird? like i understand that for some people, theyre trans themselves and theyre speaking from a place of dysphoria, and i absolutely get that, which is why i think the topic should be handled with nuance and diversity in trans characters, but like…. guys. pregnant trans men exist irl. trans women get people pregnant irl. trans ppl’s ability and right to parent and have biological children are being debated irl. we get denied the opportunity to adopt as well.

in a climate like this, are we SURE we want the stance on rewrites and headcanons in the silly cat books to be “if you portray trans characters having children, especially with a gay couple, youre a transphobic freak no matter what!” does it really matter? especially if its being done by a trans person handling the topic with nuance who has a lot of trans characters with varying perspectives?

obviously yes, remember that thats not the only way certain gay couples can have kids, remember that not every trans person is fully comfortable with it and keep that in mind, remember that surrogacy and adoption are also perfectly valid ways to give fan babies- but remember that there are OPTIONS. not that you need to condemn the idea of transgender parents in the first place unless they fit the very specific criteria of “proper transgender representation” and anything that dares deviate from that is proof the op is a transphobic monster (bonus points if theyre a trans creator bc i mostly see trans people getting shit for this and it kinda pisses me off. although idm if cis people do it either as long as theyre handling it with respect)

five headcanons for a Freaky Friday situation after the pmh....hmmmmm

~Gender Dysphoria~ let's get the easy one out of the way first. You know me, i cum the second someone says "blorbo transgender" so naturally anything even Body Horror Adjacent will have Gender Feelings. They needn't even be trans as long as some sort of gender yuri is happening.

everyone would find out immediately. There's no way nmj could spend five minutes in Jin company without making a decisively un-Guangyao-like sarcastic remark. There's no way jgy, who is Deflection Georg and makes 100000 vague statements per day, could tolerate being confrontational.

Ok maybe not everyone, but our Main Cast certainly find out very quickly. NHS figures it out within 3 minutes of the switch ('jgy' started scolding him immediately while 'nmj' just kept smiling, it's creepy-) and naturally this means that lxc gets recruited to help fix this. Somehow, as is tradition with AUs that involve dubious magic, wwx gets involved which naturally means lwj is present as well. jc is also there, though his main purpose seems to be yelling and being outraged at things because someone has to be responsible in this mess, and by god it's gonna be him.

Naturally the whole Switching Situation cannot be fixed overnight and they must Pretend To Be Each Other In Public. This leads to a lot of heartfelt confessions about social status and societal expectations on both ends (not only on jiggy's side. yes, we've done jiggy's pressures and circumstances to hell and back, don't worry, we'll cover them here again, but like. give me MORE. build this world with me. take my hand.) They both grow as people and learn to appreciate each other and be more empathetic and bla bla bla you get the gist.

i think it would be super fun if jiggy can hear baxia now (and maybe feel the effects of early onset hereditary qi deviation???). she would be absolutely delighted by this skinny scared-but-bitter-determined-vicious little Human who is inhabiting her master's body. i'm sure its no surprise but i am a big fan of captain mactavish 🧼 i definitely ????? at the abrupt jump from him being a sergeant in MW to him being a captain in MW2 because in terms of actual military structure thats...insane in a 5 year time span (which is the canonical amount of time between the MW and MW2 campaigns) BUT! 1. that was infinity ward's doing, not soap himself and 2. its a video game franchise and hes sexy and cool so i know it really doesnt matter <3 i do also appreciate his more stern attitude and obvious focus on getting things done and being efficient about it (i have played cliffhanger soooooo many times just because i love his dialogue so much because it is an excellent example of this, that and the gulag just HRGHHH)

honestly i dont know if i really have any unpopular opinions about him. i do very firmly headcanon him as being mixed (specifically to me hes scottish & puerto rican) and transgender, but thats more just headcanons

this probably sounds silly and i know i just said it doesnt matter but the only thing i ever get hung up on about with him is his rank thing. i wish that in in CoD 4: MW they had either started him off as a lieutenant (the actual rank under captain) or had him just be a staff sergeant (the actual rank after sergeant) in the later games. going from being a sergeant to a captain would mean that he did the 2 years of officers school which includes earning a whole ass degree (which is a requirement for becoming a commissioned officer in the british military as well as the us military), graduated as a lieutenant, and then been promoted to captain.......all within five years??? it just doesn't make a lot of sense 😅 the idea of him being a mustang is pretty appealing and honestly now that im talking about it the fanfic potential there.................hmmmmm *opening ideas document* anyway i pick this because [SPOILERS FOR THE OG MW2 AND MW3 CAMPAIGNS!]

i dont mind his death in MW3 because IMO he would be crushed by survivors guilt after ghost & roach's deaths at the end of MW2, so i see him dying as hopefully an opportunity to be with them in an afterlife or even a reincarnation scenario if one is inclined! and for me him roach and ghost all dying solidifies them as my OT3 because i really dont think they all could have lived without each other anyway. thats honestly my biggest beef with the reboot trilogy; not only did they deny soap captaincy, they fucking took roach away and then they left ghost a fucking war widow at the end of MWIII and for fucking what????????? My only transgender-canon character is for another project, who fans might know him as Ambrosio, but his name will be changed in the future. Ever since the rumors, disappearances, and strange supernatural occurrences, religion in Rosso is on unsteady grounds. The bastardization of Catholicism and Christianity in 8:11 might have some shared holidays, and a few made up ones, so Christmas might be a thing. Is it celebrated by the people in Rosso? Highly doubt it. Plus, I’m sure there are other holidays being celebrated by some characters...

Ryker and Leon might have celebrated something similar to it in France, but, couldn’t afford presents for each other:( If Christmas WAS celebrated in Rosso, it would be a holiday surrounding gift-giving and cherishing family and loved ones, etc etc. But with much less snow (but lots of icy cold winds and rain), warm cookies made by Accardi, Vittorino getting more scarves from Amalia, and everyone most likely spent the holiday at Gabriel’s house. Everyone falls asleep accidentally in one big pile, under some warm blankets, and by the fire place:)
