I am so sorry if i come off stupid with this ask but i’m not very educated on this topic and my english isn’t that good so pls dont take any offence but i’ve read some of ur fics (ur very skilled btw!!) and in some of them vox and alastor are depicted to be sexual at times but isn’t alastor acesexual? I used to think that ace ppl were repulsed(?) by sex and touch in general and now im a bit confused is he only comfortable with touch because they have a deep bond or is him being repulsed by touch just an act?

No worries at all, I think this is something that a lot of people get caught up on! Asexuality isn't very commonly talked about in terms of actually explanations, so a lot of folks tend to have the impression you did.

Asexuality is a spectrum that often correlates with but isn't actually inherently linked to comfort with touch! Asexual people can be sex-favorable, sex-neutral, or sex-repulsed—or a combination of those three things depending on the context and their feelings at the time. I always write Alastor as aromantic and asexual, but I play around with his comfort levels regarding all those things depending on the fic or even how he feels in the moment, oscillating between sex-positive to fully touch-repulsed (or sometimes both, which causes some complicated feelings for him). (There are also demisexual and graysexual people but I'm just going to talk about asexuality here.)

I think a key point to understand is that for an asexual person to have sex, they're just going to have different reasons from an allosexual person. Alastor is never having sex in my radiostatic fics because he thinks Vox is hot and is super attracted to him (unlike Vox, whom I write as allo and who pretty consistently thinks Alastor is hot and wants to fuck him). Instead, some of the reasons he's slept with Vox in my works include: curiosity; societal pressure; nonsexual enjoyment of kink; sexual enjoyment of very specific acts (again, still not the same as "being sexually attracted to Vox"); seeking intimacy; being under the influence; etc.

If you think about it, allosexual people also have sex for reasons outside of sexual attraction. Lesbians may have sex with men out of social pressure or personal exploration; a lot of people have sex just because they're lonely and it's how they find intimacy; you can even imagine the stereotypical frat bro who has sex with a girl because he sees her as a status symbol; etc, etc. Just because someone is ace doesn't mean they can't have sex, it just means that their reason isn't going to be sexual attraction.

@herearedragons had a very good critical post about Edér's writing in Deadfire, I wanted to share my two cents as well but what started out a reasonable-ish-ly connected to addition turned into a vaguely linked ramble about Edér's relationships and some presumptions about why he was written the way he was written, so it got its own post, read it at your peril

Now I want to get my personal biases out of way, I, too, ship Edér and the Watcher but I also ship the Team Gilded Vale OT3 so my reading could and probably is affected by it, so sorry if some of my reading is just wishful thinking

But okay, some of the things about Edér's writing in Deadfire can be very easily chalked up to Eric Fenstermaker leaving Obsidian in the middle of Deadfire's development. Supposedly he did some writing for him before he left (imo it's Edér's main plotline content, but that's just a guess based on that... he feels like his PoE1 self the most in his interactions with Eothas) and the rest was done by the rest of the writing team. I also remember reading ages ago on the Obsidian Forums that the policy about romance options at the time was that only those characters became romance options whose writer felt comfortable writing romance. Which would explain a lot about the will-they-won't-they kind of writing Edér and the Watcher got - after all, maybe there would be a pillars 3 one day, maybe Edér would be a returning character and maybe his new writer would be fine giving him a romance arc but I'm being presumptuous here about what thought process might have been.

Now as far as his personal questline and his relationship with the Watcher goes, there are bits about it that I think make sense - namely I do think it makes sense for him not to question his feelings about Elafa and the Watcher until he was pressed to do so. He did the same thing about Woden after all. Yes, Edér is insightful and empathetic but part of what makes his story tragic is that due to the trauma he suffered during the Saint's War and its aftermath, he is no longer able to approach himself with the same kind of empathy and insight he has towards others. As a result, Edér doesn't really know who he is and he instinctively searches for the answers he has about himself in others. Woden was his sense of morality until the idealized image he had for him was ruined during his PoE 1 personal quest. And bc he didn't find out what Woden's reasons were for betraying the Dyrwood is why Edér is left with no other choice but to trust his own judgment again.

Imo his PoE 2 personal quest starts out similarly - he does mention (at least mayor!Edér mentions) that he wants to show Elafa what he did to Dyrford bc he aimed to recreate the Gilded Vale of their childhood but he doesn't really remember what that was like. I read this as him projecting onto Elafa the way he did with Woden but instead of morality, looks for his sense of normalcy in her. Which lines up pretty well with Deadfire's overall "there is no going back to the world before the Saint's War" thing and Eothas' idea of "we die together or we move forward together". The problem is, however, that Elafa gets killed and the whole questline gets derailed to whether Edér is Bearn's baby daddy or not before Edér could reach point similar to the part in PoE 1 when he learns that Woden fought for Readceras, as such Edér is not forced to rethink his idea of a normal family life - which he will have to in a post-broken Wheel world - instead he's looking for that normalcy in Bearn rather than Elafa which is one of the reasons why i'm one of the five people who prefer reading Edér and Bearn NOT being biologically related, at least then their dynamic is rooted purely in empathy and sympathy rather than any kind of sense of obligation one might feel towards their long lost child but that's beside the point. I guess this is a long-winded way of me saying that Edér's arc could have been good if it was good.

"But what about the Watcher?" You might ask. Same as with Elafa&Bearn and Woden, except the Watcher is Edér's sense of purpose and his best friend and as far as Edér is concerned he doesn't need to unpack any of that. I personally find it fine, that upon questioning whether he has romantic feelings for the Watcher, his immediate instinct to say no. I also do believe he isn't lying or being inconsistent when he at one point he calls Elafa a friend and the next he says she is part of the reason he hasn't really found himself harboring romantic feelings for anyone in a long time. Mainly bc imho Edér wasn't in love with Elafa - smitten mayhaps, crushing maybe, but in love? no - they had a very close, psychologically impactful friendship that happened to involve sex but I don't think Edér had romantic feelings for her, and as a result I think he also doesn't recognize when he has them (if he has them). Case in point: that one banter with Serafen where he gets mad at Edér for fooling both him and the Watcher (listen if the resident telepath says that something's there, then there is something there). Funnily enough you can kind of push Edér to sort his feelings about the Watcher out by countering his rejection with... rejection (you can go without confessing any kind of romantic feelings towards him and then finish the convo by saying you don't actually have feelings for him, you were just curious) - to say that Edér sure has a reaction to that is... an understatement - unfortunately there isn't a follow-up conversation to it but... I already mentioned why I think things were left open-ended on that front up above.

I've seen multiple videos talking about the worst bachelors and they always put him in first because "he betrays the player" by relapsing on drinking but like, isn't that just realistic? Shane is human that's normal, it's always weird how they want to just save and fix Shane instead of accepting and loving him, they treat him like shit and for what? it's not like he's abusive he's sweet and caring he just has an addiction 😭

the people who yell about shane being a fixer upper the LOUDEST are the one who actually WANT him fixed. nobody who genuinely cared for shane and loves him for who he is wants to "fix him," in fact you as the farmer dont even really push him to do anything. shane decides to get therapy on his own, he decides to repair his relationships on his own, HELL he even asks the farmer to take him to the hospital after he drank too much ON HIS OWN.

people love to cry out "YOU CANT FIX HIM" when nobody, not even the IN GAME FARMER is trying to do that. shane is a very realistic character, one of the most realistic in the game, and to say he "betrays" his spouse because he RELAPSED or "isn't a good husband" because his room is messy is CRAZY to me. its like people aren't even hearing themselves talk.

ive seen some people who seem to genuine like shane talk about how his room is so bothersome because "its messy" and "doesnt look as nice as the other candidates" and EVERY TIME i'm like. Yeah and you know why? because shane is depressed. because shane, who struggles to get out of bed sometimes, may not have the energy to clean up his room every day. shane, who still has horrible thoughts about himself, may feel like he's too worthless to even bother trying because what would a little cleaning do? shane, even after he marries you, is still VERY MENTALLY ILL.

its like some of the posts on here talking about how people only support mentally ill people if theyre clean and up to THEIR standards. shane is literally a walking representation of that. even the people who love him cant completely accept his mental illness because it makes him nasty to them and yet not a single one of them sees a problem with it. it makes me so angry because i HAVE struggled with depression, i HAVE gone through days were i couldn't clean, i HAVE been disgusting. and to me, every single time i see someone talk about shane this way, a character who i relate to because we have very similar struggles, it tells me that people would think this way about me too.

stardew is such a great game for finding fictional characters that embody your struggles. shane is one of those characters. people like him because of his many flaws and even greater amount of strengths. people like shane because he embodies them. the stardew fandom screaming over and over again that shane is nothing but an outlet for people with fixer complexes will never not piss me the hell off.

Something funny I've been doing with my Bishops is taking their follower forms quite literally like how cotl just does with the general follower forms (also adding my hcs/projections for them as followers :-3c i dunno!! Its fun!)

For example,

⛤️ Bishop Leshy: not very taken care of "fur" (some parts are longer, other parts are shorter, uncut branches from his head and sticking out from his back) (at this point his branches could be as wide as a deer's), seemingly more of a lyndwyrm build and more slithery, more fuzzy than soft (which kinda stings to touch), under the bandages are heavily bleeding eye sockets that are begging to be stitched, and the smallest bishop (15 ft. However his eldritch form happens to be the biggest out of all his siblings, hes a 100 ft lyndwyrm. If you asked the lamb on how hx killed leshy multiple times in purgatory rows and just in general hx will look at you menacingly)

⛤️ Bishop Heket: Has more of a lighter skin for a frog now, mouth is wider due to throat being cut and decaying as a millenia went on (because Narinder slit the sides of her mouth as well), the yellow crown is the only thing keeping her mouth/throat from randomly falling apart (so theres a yellow aura around that area—not even bandages could help her), yellow sclera that is barely seen, second shortest bishop (20 ft maximum, but definitely more bigger as eldritch? 40 ft at best)

⛤️ Bishop Narinder/TOWW: More grayer fur from stress, head still bleeds from the neck down (due to being decapitated limb by limb and even beheaded: a reason why he has to keep the chains around parts of his body so he literally does not fall apart), red sclera and black eyes, third tallest bishop (30 ft maximum)

⛤️ Bishop Kallamar: 16 Legs and 8 arms, lacking some parts as a squid due to stress of the betrayal (if that even makes sense HELP), way thinner eyes with black sclera and red eyes, second tallest bishop (33 ft, eldritch form surprisingly bigger with more hands and arms to make sure the lamb goes through HELL fighting him)

⛤️ Bishop Shamura: larger fangs that basically cover their whole mouth, more thinner claws that could probably cut someone very easily, black sclera with red eyes, the tallest and eldest of their family (40 ft at maximum, eldritch form just as tall)

And now for the follower differences

⛤️ Follower Leshy: stitched up eyes (which Lamb & Heket worked stitching together), trimmed fur and still a bit messy looking (but way better than before), still has branches but happens to be smaller ones, walks on two legs unlike his lyndwyrm bishop form, and the tallest of his siblings (6'4) OH ALSO shamura is the one entrusted to frequently change his bandages (mainly bc hes afraid to ask his other siblings) (dude heket literally stitched your eyes--)

⛤️ Follower Heket: a way smaller mouth, barely speaks unless (shes semi verbal), has brown wooden crosses on her head, bandages are simply wrapped around her neck rather than just hopelessly being dragged on the floor, instead of white sclera she has yellow sclera (because her eyes are way smaller now), and shes the second tallest of her siblings (6'2)

⛤️ Follower Narinder: his forehead has stitches along with the rest of his connecting limbs (armpits have stiching, pelvis area has stitches, neck has stitches, wrists have stitching, and tail has stitching), third eye is rarely used now prior from before, phantom pains and forgetting hes no longer chained, actually was given back his brain so it feels weird knowing he has one now (that and a pair of lungs + his ribcage,, he can open it tho and he likes to place flowers. In there. He terrifies me but thats okay hes just coping i suppose), white sclera for all three eyes, can open his face like bishop form (that's when his sclera can go red but will begin to tear up blood and even from his mouth), and he's the third shortest of his siblings (5'4)

⛤️ Follower Kallamar: weight redistribution so that means all 24 limbs? Went all down to his legs and his head (has eight legs, and has 6 strands of tentacles to his head,,he thinks its pretty to have and sorta treats it like hypothetical hair), now has fins and a stitched up trunk (because she still has a weird set up of teeth in there. It makes her uncomfy so she asked shamura to stitch it for hir), has some access to the Blue Crown left that remains on hir crosses (lamb knows shi couldnt do anything anyways. Its mainly for accessibility and to be used as a hypothetical hearing aid), and the second shortest of his siblings (5'3)

⛤️ Follower Shamura: their species being of a jumping spider more visibly now + fuzzier, pedipalps remain lowered instead of constantly being high (for being alert 24/7 as a bishop), smaller fangs and a smaller mouth, thick claws that could not hurt anyone neccesarily, white sclera and all four eyes remain functional (except the two on the sides of their head are sorta. Complex. Its difficult to control what they look at in those eyes), a way smaller abdomen thats on their lower back (which sorta still works? They can produce some silk supposedly. They dont really want to figure that out 💀.), has two legs instead of eight (one is shorter than the other though. Kinda just leans a lot of the time,, probably doesnt help that they have suspected scoliosis), and the shortest out of their siblings (exactly 4'7. They would be 4'9 if they had better posture and stood up normally)

How do they feel about the demands of their jobs putting them at odds/how close were they???)

Okay SO my Ordo cousins are kind of a mess in the best way family can be, with the added heap of Mandalorian Family Drama on top. A good portion of the story for them came from me being really fascinated by all the lore around the Mandalorians of this era and kinda disappointed with how little we actually know, and then me realizing "hey I accidentally made my Mando cousins look a LOT* like the Ordo brothers completely unintentionally" and then my brain went a-plot-bunnying away and came up with More Lore for my stories that I really need to put down in a coherent form/document. But I had maybe three hours of sleep, I know if I nap that I'm gonna murder my sleep schedule, and my dog is chewing on my desk chair again, so that is not happening here today. 🤣😭

Aaaaaaand I gotta put this under a wall of text because I have Cannot Summarize in a Brief Succinct Manner Whatsoever Because Infodumping Is Fun problems and I don't wanna take over the dash. If this makes no sense, again, three hours of sleep. 🤣😭

Basic barebones (i say like a liar 🤣😭) backstory: Devika and Jaiga grew up as two of six of the Ordo chieftain's grandkids together and are basically siblings. So Artus Lok becomes Mandalore the Vindicated then turns around and reinvests Mandalore's loyalty to the Sith Empire, Jicoln Cadera falls out with him over it and starts rallying clans. By that point Jek and Rass' part of the family split to do their own thing on Makeb for Reasons I Have Not Determined (I try to be a little canon compliant) so it's just Dev, Jai and Jaiga's older brother Korvun left with their respective parents, and Jicoln shows up to talk Clan Ordo into joining up with his uprising against Vindicated. Their grandpa Kinkaid doesn't like being loyal to the Empire either but doesn't want to turn on Lok, but Devika, who is being groomed as a future successor to the chieftaincy, rallies the clan into supporting Cadera because they're all sick of being used and abused by the Empire—they're Clan Ordo! Their forefather was Mandalore the Preserver, close ally to Revan! He and Clan Ordo helped bring down Darth Nihilus! So why are they bowing and scraping for the Sith when all the Sith have ever done for the Mando'ade is use them as cannon fodder? Speech is awesome, Ordo joins Cadera's rebellion, and when Clan Ordo does something like that, a whole bunch of other clans follow them because of Canderous' continuing legacy of loyalty and honor. They're gonna start a revolution and get them the kriff away from the Empire once and for all!

Which. Obviously. Doesn't happen. And goes very... very... very badly.

Jaiga and Korvun end up the only ones in the chieftain's family to survive the Schism—Jaiga fought, Korvun was born for clan politics but has some mobility issues that make him prefer to stay out of the actual fighting, both have some intense PTSD from losing most of their family. At that point they're sixteen and eighteen and technically traitors, so Clan Ordo gets appointed an "advisor" (read: Lok-approved supervisor) to ensure reparations go smoothly. Korvun takes over the clan chieftaincy but is pretty powerless to affect much without the advisor's approval. Jaiga is "volunteered" as an ijaat-sur'eyir, an honor-seeker, to basically wander the galaxy as an exile, no aid whatsoever from her family or clan, and find a way to regain Clan Ordo's honor and her own. Basically, she gets Zuko'd into a quest to find the Avatar, but the closest thing she gets to an Uncle Iroh is Braden, who gets killed only like six months into her bounty hunter apprenticeship to him, so she has to figure all this stuff out on her own (well, and with her crew). All that time out there alone makes her really bitter, disillusioned with her chances, and resentful of Devika for rallying them into the Schism, though. Because what do they have to show for all that loyalty to Mandalore the Preserver's legacy? Everyone's dead!

...except Devika did not get killed in the Schism.

She managed to get away with only a few scars. She tried to get back and fight for Clan Ordo in the aftermath, but she got betrayed by someone in the clan who felt betrayed by her actions in turn, and ended up in a Zygerrian slave camp for two years until she managed to jerry-rig a transmitter and reported their activities to the nearest Republic army base. SpecForce shows up to clear them out, since they'd been using the post-Treaty of Coruscant chaos to expand their enterprise into Republic territory with Republic citizens, and Dev's efforts in helping fight back get noticed. The leader of Cyclone Squad (made it up for fic purposes!) catches on that she's a Mandalorian who escaped the Schism real fast, but she's a dang good fighter and she went out of her way to save innocent lives, and points her in the direction of Special Forces since she has nowhere else to go and clearly wants to fight. Dev picks up the name Mav Darmani out of worry that if Mand'alor notices her fighting for the Republic that he'll bring the hammer down on whoever is left alive back home, graduates top of her class from Carida, serves a few outer rim tours with Cyclone, then gets transferred to Havoc just in time for All of That Business.

Neither Devika or Jaiga know the other survived the Schism until they both start making the galactic news (for vastly different reasons 😬) and recognize each other. Devika is overjoyed that Jai and Korvun survived. Jaiga wants to kill her for everything that happened. I haven't worked out how the reunion goes but it goes Badly. They're fine as of KotFE (and happily reunited with their other cousins! I can't remember which one but one of the Ordo bros' codex blurbs mentions they were at Darvannis), but it takes a long, long, long time for them to work things out. They're a mess that loves heckling/teasing/driving each other up the kriffin' wall, but I love my mess.
