Perciver Fic Recs:

Note: a lot of these will be WIPs, but I think that WIPs deserve love and these are all excellent fics. This is by no means a comprehensive list, moreso canon/canon adjacent perciver fics that have characterisation that I personally adore. They will be of varying lengths - I'll identify the length + rating. There are quite a few more that fit your tastes, but I haven't read all of them (personally, I write perciver more than I read it these days).

Slow Burn at Hogwarts

My all time favourite, which is exactly the slow burn Hogwarts perciver fic you described as wanting at 200k: still in progress as the author finishes off another work that's delightful as well: good all-fashioned lover boy, rated t by @aeoneskova.

This is another WIP, currently at 27k, still well worth a read: A Lot Can Happen in Seven Years by DinoDina, rated g, who also has other assorted perciver works.

Post-canon getting together

Authors' Summary: The keeper smiled wider as the healer tried to hide a smile writing quickly on the parchment tucked underneath the clipboard. And what a smile it was. Percy’s eyes crinkled at the corners. It took up the man’s entire expression. Other than winning the Pennant (if he wasn’t sacked by the Club Manager), Oliver Wood would make it his life’s mission to make Percy Weasley smile.

Underneath the Mistletoe by Hufflepuffin11, who has a ton of perciver fics, including some really long ones: this one is rated t, 19k and is perciver getting together after the war feat. pining oliver and chirstmas fluff.

Just a drabble/me musing about how vampire Tsubaki meets you and obv gets to sippy on you 🍷 Turns out I made it too long so it's mostly going under the cut. Oh! It’s thanks to Danyl’s vampire comment and Kiu’s art that made me wanna write more

Vampire Tsubaki who has pretty good control of his bloodlust, keeping a calendar of the days he absolutely will need to feed, either asking one of the twins for their arm or one of the patrons of the club who volunteer for things like that.

You stop by the club one night after hearing they have a really impressive line up with both pole dancing and singing, and although you checked with your friends, they just weren't into it so you decide to go on your own.

There you are, sitting by yourself as you nurse a drink the bartender recommended, waiting for the show as the lights drop, and a spotlight shines down on the prettiest person you've ever seen.

Long, strong legs strutting forward to the beat of the song as his hair flows behind him, wisps of black and red dancing on air before settling briefly when he puts a hand on the pole. It's dazzling really, the way he spins and twirls so easy it's as if he were made for this.

Tsubaki's bright eyes land on you when he dips back low, sliding to the floor and stay locked on for the rest of the performance. Rather than assuming the obvious, you tell yourself he probably can't even see the audience due to the lighting, though the way the constant attention makes you feel is very real.

Is it hot in here? The heat from your face and your heartbeat in your ears are making it difficult to tell if it's completely just you, or if someone needs to crack open a door to let some air in. Tsubaki finishes the set and the lights go out once more before the normal ones flick on, blinding you as you look around, disappointed that he's gone.

Tsubaki on his end is chastising himself for so obviously gawking at a patron, hoping he hadn't made you uncomfortable seeing as how you weren't a regular and you were by yourself. The least he can do is buy you another drink, right? So while you're chatting with the bartender about the singer who'll take the stage soon, Tsubaki parts his way through the crowd, eyeing your form, and drinking in just how much cuter you look up close.

When he puts a delicate manicured hand on your shoulder and asks if you'd like another drink on him, your look of concern turns to awe realizing just who is offering. For the rest of the night, both of you chat, having a drink here and there just enjoying good company until Tsubaki realizes just what day it is. The way his eyes have been dragging up your neck every so often when you tilt your head and how he leans in, as if to hear you better when really he can hear you crystal clear make him want to face palm.

It's not like he doesn't like you, because he does! It's just going to get harder to control the longer he goes without feeding, and he really doesn't wanna scare you away by practically mauling you when it gets to be too much for him.

Color him surprised when you nervously put a hand on his and ask if he'd like to go somewhere quieter. He can practically feel the blood rushing through your veins just from the steady thump in your fingertips, and he can't help his giddiness as he takes you to one of the back rooms used for various meetings or in his case feedings.

He asks if you're sure about this, he bites after all, he says punctuating his words with a little tap to his fangs. Once you assert vehemently that it's 'totally and completely fine'. He figures that's that and shifts you on the couch so that you'll be comfortable. It's not like you've ever been with a vampire before, but everything with Tsubaki just flows so easily it's hard to be anything but open.

The way he tucks your hair behind your ear and places kisses from your jaw to your shoulder have you shivering, the muscles in your neck moving and twitching beneath his lips. When he finally does get to sinking his teeth in, you barely feel it. If anything the sucking is what you feel the most, and god is it good. You get to run your hands through that smooth and soft hair that feels like silk. Get to feel your way across his well worked shoulders and down his spine. It only takes a minute or so for the rush to kick in, starting as a wave of warmth and kindling to a full on fire that’s got you arching ever so slightly against him, desperation to have everything he’s willing to give you building higher.

When he goes to place a kiss against your lips, he lets out a pleased hum, your hands holding onto him tight and he just peppers your cheeks and face with slow, savored presses of his mouth. Oh the way he looks at you, eyes full of adoration would have you all fuzzy even without the slight blood loss, and when he turns your head to the right it takes a moment to realizes just what you’re seeing.

He looks with you into the mirror on the wall, murmuring softly that red's your color, and it's hard to argue when you see your mouth and neck smeared with shades of candy red melding with maroon in certain places. Two darker pinpricks about an inch and some apart stand out amongst the palette on your skin, and you think that coming to this club on your own was the best idea you’ve had in a long time.

And idk if it's moreso a crackship or a rarepair that only works in an AU (HACKS up Starstruck), but Reggie's line of "...and I hope Ollie made it out too. I hope a lot of things." It's totally me reading into it but like,,,,I want them to talk because Ollie is not dead to me in my heart of hearts.

Maybe the only change is like Reggie taps into the communication on the radio in Hot Water instead of using the earpiece, so Ollie ends up hearing him also? And they end up getting along really well (with Reggie having to jump through a couple hoops to be like "haha what agency..."). There's an Agency base in the South-East coast of Australia and maybe the Agency ends up adopting him after he washes up on the shore with the escape pod (after HEAVY questioning).

idk but saying jennifer lynn barnes sucks at writing romance because your ship wasn't canon is beyond hilarious to me like okay???? HAHHAHAHA. everyone has their own preferences of course but the vehement hatred for jlb and the belittlement of her writing on booktok and bookstagram (sometimes on here) has been ASTOUNDING.

a note about the "poorly done romance/love triangle" in tig: jlb never said it was going to be "even". no one ever said that. personally pioneering the idea that one character was "not given a chance" does not make it a poorly written love triangle or a poorly written romance. in love triangles, there is usually ALWAYS one option who is simply NOT a real option. look me in the eye and tell me characters jeremiah fisher, aspen in the selection series, gale hawthorne, adam kent, jacob black, and i'm sorry but grayson hawthorne amongst a myriad of others were actual contenders for the main character. if you believed they are/wanted them to be, that's great! but all of these characters are in well known love triangles and at the end of the day, books with love triangles WILL sell because they generate conversation and hype around the book. it is a marketing tactic and you are NEVER promised equal opportunity from both love interests. you losing the love triangle or that you believe there is wasted potential doesn't mean bad writing has occurred. also, for the love of god, while you are supposed to relate to a character, you are not the main character!! belly, america, katniss, juliette, avery, what have you, all chose based on who they are as characters. and also, female characters don't have to "experience" both love interests to make a decision. if they want to, that's totally fine, but specifically about avery bc this is what this blog is all about, she absolutely knows what she's "missing out" on with grayson and she doesn't care. shipping averygrayson just blatantly feels like ignoring avery's wants and needs.

anyway, if you want to call jlb's writing poorly done bc you didn't get your way, that's totally fine. you are entitled to your own opinion. it's just funny that you say that bc had grayson and avery been randomly thrown together in the epilogue of tfg or something, i have a feeling you wouldn't be of this opinion.

tldr; love triangles are a marketing tactic and you are neither entitled to a win nor is is poorly done/executed if you lose. love triangles, more often than not, have a clear winner from the beginning (coughcough "see? you're already his") but the debate and drama of another character sells the book.
