ReligionForBreakfast points out that linking the Easter Bunny to an alleged Pagan goddess named Eostre falls apart under scrutiny for reasons including that the tradition was way newer than that, "Easter" is just the English word for the holiday, and the fact that the critter in question is not always a rabbit (there are Easter Foxes and Storks, for example). There are many rabbit/hare-related traditions in mythologies around the world, but the Anglo Saxon folk deity was not even one of them outside of Jacob Grimm's basless speculations and then some other Protestants centuries after she would have even been recognized. I do like that he, being a religious studies PhD, also points out that the supposed Christian roots sometimes pointed out, what with the association with the Virgin Mary and rabbits in medieval art, is also likely not the source of the Easter Bunny either because there's quite a leap (like the leaps rabbits make!) from "painting Jesus's mom with bunnies" to "bunnies pass out eggs on this holiday he's associated with."

i always thought there were two ways to rediscover old stories that you don't remember writing and they are 1) oh no i can't look oh no oh no that's embarrassing, and 2) hey? this is pretty cool actually? this sort of really rocks?, but today i've discovered the secret third option. and it's 3) i guess in 2018 i wrote 1500 words of original fiction about thor (the norse god) and the easter bunny (the easter bunny) on a blind first date in a starbucks and it's a little haunting that this reads pretty much the same as most genuine fluffy scenes i've ever written, but littered with egg puns

Why Easter bunnies for Easter and not another animal?

Over the centuries, many symbols have become established around Easter, such as the rabbit and the egg. The latter has many different meanings, some of which have been transferred to the Christian celebration of Easter.

Chicken eggs, goose eggs, chocolate eggs or porcelain eggs - the Easter egg comes in all kinds of colours and shapes. The best-known custom at Easter is to give and eat eggs.

The egg - a symbol of life - has many different meanings, some of which have been transferred to the Christian Easter celebrations. As early as the 4th century, eggs were grave goods in Roman-Germanic tombs. Even in early Christian times, the egg was seen as a symbol of resurrection. Like a grave, it holds life locked inside - here the relationship to the resurrection of Christ becomes clear.

The custom of giving eggs as gifts has various origins. Eggs were not allowed to be eaten during Lent - but it was difficult to stop the hens from continuing to lay eggs. The surplus therefore had to be preserved. The eggs were boiled and plant parts were added to the boiling water for colouring. This made it possible to distinguish the boiled eggs from the raw eggs. Since the 13th century, the traditional colour for Easter eggs has been red - as the colour of life, joy and also as a symbol of the blood of Christ.

The egg hunt has been going on since the 19th century

Today, there are many different techniques for decorating eggs. Eggs can be coloured with vegetable or tinting dyes, for example.

Chocolate eggs are particularly popular with children because of their colourful packaging and sweet contents.

These are hidden on Easter morning by the Easter bunny - or so the children are told. The Easter egg hunt has been a custom since the 19th century. This is a child-orientated way of celebrating the festival.

Fun facts Another custom is the coin toss: If the coin gets stuck in the egg, the egg belongs to the thrower. Egg tossing, or ditschen, is particularly popular in southern Germany: The person whose egg remains whole when tossed gets both eggs.

The Easter bonfire

The Easter bonfire is lit and consecrated in front of the church on Easter night, shortly before the start of the Easter liturgy. The Easter candle is lit at this fire and then carried into the dark church. The "Lumen Christi" (Light of Christ) is sung three times. In many communities, especially in rural areas, Easter fires are lit. Wood is collected for this throughout the winter. On the eve of Easter Sunday, people get together as soon as it gets dark and light the pile of wood.

Even in pre-Christian times, it was customary to light fires. It was a way of welcoming the sun in spring. Christian Easter fires first appeared in France around 750. They have been known in German-speaking countries since the 11th century.

Symbolic animal for Easter: Bunny

Why the hare of all animals came to symbolise Easter and is considered the bearer of Easter eggs is unclear. According to one theory, the Easter bunny is an Easter lamb gone wrong: Bakers moulded an Easter lamb out of dough, but it then looked more like a rabbit.

In Greek mythology, the hare is the animal of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and like the egg, it is a symbol of life and fertility. Some also see it as a symbol of life because of its prolific reproduction. In Byzantium, the hare symbolised Christ, the Risen One. The hare has no eyelids, so it never "sleeps" - like Christ, who never falls asleep. The date of Easter also has a connection to the hare: The hare is considered a lunar animal, and Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday of the spring full moon.

correct me if i'm wrong but by doing it 1) you are undermining one of history's worst regimes and 2) you are perpetuating yet again the stereotype that rammstein unfortunately carries with them as a band even if they've said time and time again that they are left leaning and have demonstrated this.

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 135 (Heather's Home!)

Conrad was sitting in the kitchen with Lavender when Heather returned from Selvadorada. "Mommy!" Lavender squealed.

Heather beamed. She'd missed their joyful smiles, but she moved slowly, feeling nauseous again as her body still recovered from the spider bite. "You look a little green," said Conrad with concern.

"You should have seen me a few days ago," she mused. "It looks like the contractors finished the upstairs bedroom while I was gone."

"The snow melted just long enough for them to get it done," said Conrad, showing off the space where Ash would sleep once he returned from spending Easter with the Landgraabs. They both glanced out the windows, noting the falling snowflakes beginning to gather on the ground all over again.

Heather smiled. "Even if the snow doesn't want to leave the Bay, it feels like a new beginning. George and June's murder is solved and the town's doing okay. I'm back from vacation. New season. New bedroom."

"We've got new problems...."

Heather cocked her head in confusion. "Rafa still won't cooperate? We didn't have any trouble with cartels in Selvadorada."

"As relieved as I am to hear that, I'm worried they might've gotten to Rafa and it's holding him back. He won't give up Ximena, but I keep trying. I sent Felix to try to talk to him in Sulani after convincing Melissa didn't work."

"Felix is pretty persuasive," she said hopefully. "I saw on Social Bunny he has a new girlfriend."

"He charmed Lilith without much trouble," Conrad agreed with a nod. "But the same lines won't work on Rafa."

"You could always arrest him and force his hand," she reminded him, but she knew her suggestion would fall on deaf ears.

"It's not just Rafa and his sister," he said carefully. He didn't even know where to begin with John Brindleton's town history lesson, so he skipped it - for now. "I talked to Ash about Ben and his dog and he figured out by himself that his accident as a toddler made it possible for him to see ghosts. Felix confirmed it's the most likely explanation."

"Because he was...Oh my Watcher...So he just sees ghosts? Plural? What if they frighten him?"

"He's not even worried about it. Says he's never met a ghost that he didn't think was living. Doesn't even know if he's ever met more than Ben and Captain Whitaker." She leaned into him, feeling dizzy, and Conrad held out a hand to support her. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Maybe I should lie down. Jet lag hit me on the way into the jungle, and it'll probably hit me again now that I'm home."

Conrad kissed her and put her to bed, taking Lavender to daycare on his way to work. Heather napped for most of the day, calling her parents to cancel plans to go to Henford for Easter dinner because the thought of spending an hour on the speedy Simmerloop made her feel as green as she looked. "I know Hazel's already in town for the weekend. That's good in case this is a flu or something."

"We're sorry we won't see you, but we just want you to rest if you're sick," said her father, Neal. "We'll miss your cooking, though."

"Maybe we'll make it to Henford for Mother's Day, if things aren't too hectic with the clinic rebuild."

"Get well soon, Buttercup. We love you."

"Love you, too."

She hung up the phone, content after a quick chat with her beloved dad despite her guilt over cancelling holiday plans. But she couldn't dwell for long on her feelings before she raced to the bathroom to be sick.

At work, Conrad was in the break room. While his coworkers talked about plans to celebrate his old partner Josephine's retirement party at the Salty Paw, he pulled himself away when his phone rang. "Felix! How's the beach?"

"It's not Felix." Rafa's tone curdled down the line. "He let me borrow his phone to tell you to screw off."

In the tropics, Felix rocked uncomfortably in his flip flops. "He didn't tell me that's what he wanted to say! I told him he might avoid prison entirely if he gives up his sister and he said he wanted to call you."

"And who the hell are you to promise something like that? You're just some weird lawyer who sounds a hundred years older than he looks!"

"Listen to Felix," Conrad urged, careful not to mention Rafa's name in front of his coworkers. "He's the most experienced attorney I know."

Even though Felix had passed the bar only recently, Conrad was telling the truth. He didn't know any other attorneys who'd practiced law as far back as the early 20th Century.

"If I get off with nothing but a slap on the wrist after selling my own sister up the river, the cartel will come for me, for sure."

"You said yourself they're not concerned with Sulani. I know what I'm asking you, and I wouldn't ask if I didn't need your help. She's been all but abandoned by the cartel. I'm sure of it. No one's visited her since she was put behind bars, but you know what she's capable of. You could keep her there, for your benefit as much as mine. Yours and Melissa's."

"You shouldn't have sent her here."

"But you weren't this mad when I did."

"Screw you, Conrad. And stop telling the Ngatas to spy on me. Oliana and her son come by every other day now."

"Maybe they care about you. I know what that's like."

The call ended with a click, and Conrad sighed. He was beginning to think he'd have to bring in the cartel to pressure Ximena, after all, but he didn't relish the possibility in the slightest. ->

Bunnymund is a big tease and a huge flirt, so he will constantly be smirking at you, looking up and down and then tease you when you blush on his compliments

he'd always stay behind you or next to you. just in case, you never know when danger will show up

i believe he doesn't really like PDA but he will hold your hand in front of others, maybe a small kiss on the cheek

but when are you alone he'll turn into a huge cuddle bunny. he'll hug you tight so he can protect you and then he'll stroke your hair because it brings him comfort (somehow)

he gets easily jealous when you talk to other men, when it's Jack the one you talk to he'll go feral

i mean he and Jack have some... history, not that he doesn't like him but Jack stills in some way annoy him so

he'd be really happy if you help him with Easter, like painting some eggs and help him organize it

after Easter Holiday he'll probably get really tired so you two will lay down in the bed for the next few days to take a long relaxing break

when you scratch him behind his ear, he'll be over the moon! i mean it, he really REALLY loves it.

he'd let you crave something into the wood of his boomerang if you promise him that it will be something nice

he'll make you your own boomerang and teach you how to throw it, if you'd like otherwise he says that he's strong enough to protect the both of you

North will tease and "provoke" Bunnymund a lot. when North once caught him staring at you for like a few more extra minutes and he laugh and tease Bunnymund the whole week

so from now on Bunnymund is trying not to stare or do anything "extra" romantic around others but he always fails because you are just so beautiful that he cannot help himself but stare

when he means something really seriously like when he says "i love you" to you or when he's making you a promise, he'll always put his forehead on yours (it's like a pinky promise just different)

i believe he has a horrible sweet tooth so if you can bake, you two will make a lot of mess because he'll stand behind you, tasting every ingredient like sugar or chocolate, then the dough and then the finished baked pie

also when he's jealous his ears will go back, like really low down almost on his back and his fur will go spiky

but that happens only with someone really dangerous like Pitch and sometimes when Jack provokes long enough

sometimes he will also stamp his foot when he's jealous to signalize you that he doesn't like the person and when you leave he'll frown at the person and somehow growl at them

the only way how to calm him down is when you kiss his nose or stroke the inside of his ears because his nose and ears are extremely sensitive so when you kiss his nose he will be surprised and it will take him few seconds to process what just happened, same with his ears, if you gently stroke them he'll relax into it

sometimes he gets a bit overprotective and overjealous so you have to have a bit more patience with him, it's not that he doesn't trust you but he's afraid that someone can use to against him like Pitch or that someone will make you uncomfortable

he loves you a lot so he's trying his best
