Harry Potter: The Inclusive Version
With the recent news that JK Rowling is taking things a step further and using new funds from our nostalgia trip to fund Anti-Trans bills, I decided to say a giant fuck you to that and reclaim my childhood as my own. I have started writing out a new version of the Harry Potter Universe in more Modern day times and things we all wanted but JK Rowling deprived us of. This AU, New Age Harry Potter universe is for all writers, artists, and cosplayers to use who still want to be apart of the Harry Potter world we all love but feel they can't support JK Rowling's version anymore.
I give you all a new version to support and put your love into while still holding onto the nostalgia you feel for the Wizarding World. I give you Harry Potter: The Inclusive Version.

The School - Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry is still a castle but has fewer death traps and tricky things that cause you to miss class (Like phantom steps or doorways that lead to walls cause who thought that was a good idea?). For those that still like to get up to mischief, don’t worry there are still plenty of secret corridors behind well-hidden buttons or levers or things that require a particular rhyme to open. The tunnels behind them lead all over, from different areas of the school to the Forbidden Forest, all the way to Hogsmeade. There are even rumors of one that disappears and reappears at the same time a specific room does.
The Teachers - They are many lovely teachers at Hogwarts though the Dark Arts teacher changed for a few years the one that stuck around was well-loved by all the students.
Core Classes
Astronomy - Professor Aurora Sinistra
Charms - Professor Filius Flitwick
Defense Against the Dark Arts (D.A.D.A.) - Quinirus Quirrel (First year only), Gilderoy Lockhart (Second year only), Remus Lupin (Third year-Present)

How Different Holidays Work - There are a vast array of magical students attending Hogwarts and not all of them share the same religions or subsequent holiday traditions due to that fact, but the Hogwarts staff are very accepting and accommodating of all the students they care for and have ways of making sure they get to spend the holidays with their families accordingly.
3 days before Hanukkah in the given year any students who practice Judaism and wish to spend Hanukkah with their families will be given a sign-up sheet with the option to sign up to stay at school or leave their names off the list and be planned to be on the train ride to Platform 9 ¾ to meet their families. They will spend their 8 days with their families and then have two more nights to say goodbyes and goof off before getting on the train back to Hogwarts.
As for those who celebrate Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, the staff keeps track of when those holidays are coming and during Eid al-Fitr, they make sure the house elves who work the kitchens are aware of whose fasting so food isn’t sent their way and when it comes times for salat, there is an emptied out hall they keep just for Muslim students to pray in when they want or need to. 3 days before Eid al-Adha, teachers offer another signup sheet to either stay at school or students who wish to visit their families to celebrate with them and be with them during that time will be free to take the train back to Platform 9 ¾ to be with their families for a week. After the week ends, they will return back to school and continue their classes.
For those who celebrate Christmas, a signup sheet is passed around on December 21st to see who wants to stay at school, and those who do not sign up get to return home to their families for the holiday and spend Christmas Eve and Day through to New Years with their families and then the day after New Years return to Hogwarts to continue classes.
For those that celebrate Kwanzaa, another signup sheet goes around just after the Christmas kids have left on December 23rd, and those who decided to get to return home to spend Kwanzaa with their families before returning to school on January 3rd just after the Christmas kids get back as well to resume classes.
Magic Traditions - The Goblet of Fire was a tradition for a long time but luckily that stayed banned because it’s deadly and who would pin a bunch of school children in a fucking death match? But Quidditch is much less deadly, though still dangerous it’s still a beloved sport of the Wizarding World. Another beloved tradition that’s still around is the Sorting Ceremony but the school’s much less divided nowadays. The teachers have long since realized that if siblings who only know each other get put in different houses it may cause a very bad rift between them, especially for ones who are younger siblings. So they allow people to mingle between tables and as long as you have permission from a member belonging to the house, you’re allowed to be in another house's common room. They are however magical precautions against people giving away separate house passwords to each other or for anyone who doesn’t have a house's permission to sneak into another house's common room. Professor Flitwick is quite good with charms y’know?
The Potter Prophecy - Lily and James Potter died at the hands of Lord Voldemort and Lily dying to protect her child gave him the protection that lasted his whole life. But as for being left on the Dursley’s doorstep by a morally-grey man who wanted to raise that child for slaughter? Uh-uh, no, not in my good magical household. You see in this life there were better resources and better options. In other words, the person who caught up to Sirius Black wasn’t a goddamned moron and checked his wand to see what spell was cast last and saw that he in fact did not just blow up a man. On top of that Professor Albus Dumbledore decided to have a heart and tell them that Sirius Black wasn’t the Potters' secret keeper and that it was in fact, Pettigrew. Long story short, Sirius Black never went to Azkaban and since he was Harry’s Godfather he had first dibs on adopting Harry. So instead of being raised in the abusive Dursley house, Harry was raised by his two gay Uncles, Sirius and Remus, and grew up feeling loved and knowing who and what he was. Of course, the kid wasn’t raised to have an ego or be anything but polite yet sarcastic, much like Remus, but he knew from a certain age why people always stared at him and were always giddy to meet him.
New Age Wands - Wands aren’t what they used to be either. Ollivander was the first wandmaker to start pioneering a new way of making wands more concealable to muggles when people started finding ways to charm technology into working around and with magic. You see a guy pulling out a long spindly stick as a reflex when he gets angry kinda makes people start to question things a little when he acts like it’s a weapon of mass destruction and his cousin acts like that stick is a knife pointed at his throat. So mixing wands into things like umbrellas, and selfie sticks, heck they even sell wands that flip out like a switchblade or collapse into a handle like pens. Of course, finding the right type of wand is done the old-fashioned way of which wand chooses you, so you find the right wand in the normal form but if you want it to be concealable Ollivander has no problem making it that way for a little extra charge.

So there you have it. The first post to the new Harry Potter. I'll finish up the Character stuff I have and post it later. Also, I deeply apologize if any of the stuff about other holidays is off, particularly the Muslim holidays. I don't know about other holiday traditions beside Hanukkah really and as much as I tried to do the best research I could into the topics of the other holidays to get the information right there wasn't a lot of good info about how Eid is celebrated. Feel free to correct me and I will make changes to it. I appreciate any feedback.

Can You Participate in Ramadan If You're Not Muslim?
Ramadan is one of the most important months in the Islamic calendar, observed by millions of Muslims around the world. It is a time for fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. But what if you're not Muslim? Can you participate in Ramadan if you're not Muslim? While Ramadan is an Islamic practice, there are ways for non-Muslims to engage and show respect for this special time, even if they aren't fasting or observing all the rituals.
Understanding Ramadan
To answer the question, it's important to first understand what Ramadan is all about. For Muslims, Ramadan is a month dedicated to self-discipline, spiritual growth, and compassion. The central act of Ramadan is fasting from dawn until sunset. This fast is not just about refraining from food and drink, but also avoiding negative behaviors such as gossip and anger. The goal is to grow closer to God and to practice empathy for those who are less fortunate.
During this time, Muslims also focus on prayer, reading the Quran, and giving charity. The month ends with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a joyful holiday marking the end of fasting.
Can Non-Muslims Participate?
While Ramadan is primarily a religious observance for Muslims, there are ways for non-Muslims to participate or show solidarity. It's essential to approach this with respect and understanding of its significance.
1. Learning About Ramadan
One of the best ways non-Muslims can participate in Ramadan is by learning about it. Understanding the history, meaning, and practices behind Ramadan helps foster empathy and respect. Websites like Shaykhi offer resources for learning more about the Quran, Islamic teachings, and Arabic, which can deepen your understanding of this special month.
2. Showing Respect by Fasting or Modifying Your Diet
If you want to try fasting during Ramadan as a sign of respect, you can fast for a day or a few hours, similar to how Muslims do. However, it’s important to note that fasting is a personal and spiritual commitment for Muslims, so it’s vital to be respectful of its meaning. Even if you don’t fast, you can consider reducing your consumption of food or drink in public during the day as a gesture of solidarity.
3. Volunteering and Charity
Charity is one of the most significant components of Ramadan. During this month, Muslims are encouraged to donate to the less fortunate. If you're not Muslim, you can participate by volunteering at local organizations, donating to a cause, or helping those in need.
4. Joining Iftar Gatherings
If you’re invited to an iftar meal (the evening meal breaking the fast), it’s a great opportunity to engage with the community. While you may not be fasting, showing up and sharing a meal with Muslim friends or colleagues can be a meaningful experience. It also provides a chance to ask questions and learn more about Ramadan in a personal way.
5. Respecting the Practices of Others
Even if you’re not fasting, being mindful of the practices during Ramadan can show your support. This might mean being considerate of your Muslim friends by avoiding eating or drinking in front of them during fasting hours. It’s a simple gesture that shows understanding and respect.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, while can you participate in Ramadan if you're not Muslim may seem like a complicated question, the answer is yes—though participation will look different for non-Muslims. By learning about Ramadan, showing respect, and offering your support, you can engage with this meaningful time in a way that’s both respectful and fulfilling.
Whether it's volunteering, joining an iftar, or learning more about the teachings of Islam, there are many ways to honor this sacred time for Muslims. If you're interested in deepening your knowledge of the Quran or learning Arabic, Shaykhi is an excellent resource to start your journey.

HOLY APRIL
Many religious faiths and cultures observe customary festivals and celebrations during the month of April. These include :
1. Good Friday - April 7 (Christianity)
2. Passover – April 5-13 – (Judaism)
3. Ramadan – Mar 22 – April 20 (Islam)
4. Eid al-Fitr – April 20/21 (Islam)
5. Vaisakhi – April 13/14 (Sikhism/Hinduism)
6. Songkran – April 13-15 (Thai Buddhism)
7. Cenja Sare Sale/Yazidi New Year - April 19
8. International Romani Day – April 8
9. Maidyozarem Gahambar – April 30/May 4 (Zoroastrianism)
10. Mahavir Jayanti – April 4 (Jain)
This list is not exhaustive. If anything, it demonstrates the immense diversity of religious beliefs, cultures and thought throughout the world. This is our collective heritage and gift.
It is quite impossible to distil the essence and beauty of our existence into a single belief system or culture, although throughout history, some had tried. And I gather, they will go on trying. To share our faith and culture with our fellow human beings is a blessing. Likewise also, when they share theirs with us. Exploration and learning are integral to human existence and security.
Recently, I was most fortunate to chance upon a lovely essay about co-existence and sharing. It is titled, A Celebration of Overlapping Faiths, by Elizabeth Becker. The essay was featured in Tablet Magazine, a web publication dedicated to Jewish life, Identity and much more. Ms Becker, an academic situated at Heidelberg University in Germany has much to share with us about her interfaith and multi-cultural experience (for me, it brings to sharp focus my children’s experiences too. Sara and David were born from a Chinese mother of the Roman Catholic faith, and a Punjabi-Sikh father).
We have much to learn from Ms Becker’s experience :

Blessings to one and all during this Holy month.

++ BASIC INFORMATION
FULL NAME: Behrooz Hakim Najm PRONUNCIATION: Beh-roes MEANING: Lucky ZODIAC: Pisces ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: Bi SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Poly CURRENT LOCATION: Epineios OCCUPATION: Student, IT
++ BIOGRAPHY
Behrooz personally invented the saying ‘I guess luck is just on my side’, or so they would have everyone in their school believe when they got another high score in one of the games they played in the back of the school. They would do guessing games, with people asking them a number which they had written down, and Behrooz would always guess right.
Sadly luck rarely followed them home. They were raised by their grandmother, who forbade them to hang out after school, and certainly ensured they would never be seen hanging out with girls on their own. She would remind them time and time again of their father, a gambler who had made it big winning game after game, then one day showed up with a baby, only to drink himself to death a year later. She would remind them that they were the family’s burden, and they would have to behave in order to not bring another burden upon them.
And as they grew older, luck left them more and more often. Being a practicing Muslim was already a hard sell, but with the world growing more extreme around them, they found the community stifle their ambitions daily. It confused Behrooz that while their religion gave them anxiety, praying chased the demons away. It was almost as if they couldn’t have the one without the other.
Life was a constant . Bad people walking in and out of their life, bullies, racist teachers, judgemental neighbors, judgemental extended family members. Behrooz tended to lock themselves up in their room every day, listening to music or playing games of chance. A knot seemed to live inside their stomach all the time, a fear of being plucked off of the street and never arriving home.
When that actually happened, it wasn’t like they had imagined.
Being mostly interested in digits, numbers, code, etc. Behrooz hadn’t paid much attention to history class when Ancient Greek and Ancient Rome were being discussed, and as they saw a creepy creature with goat legs walk up to them, they really wished they had. There was a whole speech about being in mortal danger, gods, strange creatures on the loose, yada yada. Behrooz had a headache by the time the goat legged creature told them to follow him. Very close to sparking some lie about soccer practice or prayers, their head snapped back to attention when the creature suggested they had a mother who was a God.
The only thing driving them forward was the possibility of learning who their mother was, something in their brain sending out constant messages of: gotta meet mom, gotta meet mom, gotta meet mom. Rather than forming coherent sentences. They disappeared into some cleared out old train tunnel, and emerged on the other side of the bleedin’ ocean. All Behrooz knew to say was: “thought your accent sounded funny.” Before being swarmed by the strangest assortment of kids, some younger than their fourteen years, others older, everyone excited. Was this the right time to say they were Muslim and watch everyone slowly disappear like they had done back in school?
Nobody really seemed to care however, over the years - in which they discovered their godly parent, never got to meet her, discovered she was probably the most difficult goddess to find, got a large portion of the camp to join them during Ramadan - Behrooz stayed at the Camp the whole year round. They didn’t wish to return to the UK, and followed online lessons to keep up with their education. Of course they were bleedin’ lucky, and with time they learned how to use that luck to their advantage, and to that of those around them. Yet, Behrooz started to appreciate the balance of it all, the bad and the good.
To them, code was good. Watching others struggle with programs and computers, just made them more interested in it. Algorithms fascinated them, they could spend hours looking at code trying to figure out how it worked. When the time came for them to move out of the warm nest of Camp Half Blood, Behrooz had already set their sights on studying Programming at the University of New York.
++ HEADCANONS
++ Horny as hell, and often very lucky in love, although they can never seem to hold on to anyone for long.
++ A skilled programmer with a love for code and numbers and digits. They can stay up nights on end trying to figure out some new program or write an algorithm of their own.
++ Despite their interests in the digital, Bez spends most of their time outside if they can help it. They love forests, trees, the fresh air. They take walks a lot, driving the metro to the park and helping themselves to a huge thermos of coffee.
++ Religion is an important part of their life, without it they would be nowhere. Whenever they feel lost or anxious, they tend to be eager for it to be time to pray, something they do five times a day.
++ They’ve read the Quran, although their grandmother never taught them Arabic beforehand, so they’re currently reading it in English in between classes, thesis writing, and walks.
++ Bez is a very kind individual, who will help others whenever they can - mostly with IT stuff. As a job, or a way to get money mostly, they help teachers or partake in arranging anything that needs a programmer. They’re a regular Upwork user.
++ In fights Bez uses their ability to generate luck to get other Demigods out of trouble and make the damage less.
++ They love bunk beds.
++ Wears very loose-fitting clothing.
++ Drinks way too much coffee and black tea.
++ Doesn’t like it when people constantly nag.
++ Extremely messy, will end up finding coffee mugs everywhere.
++ Is always running from one place to the next because he has too much planned on a daily basis.

Eid ul-Fitr 2020: Date and time of moon sighting in India
Eid ul-Fitr 2020: Date and time of moon sighting in India
Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated as the end of the month-long fasting during the holy period of Ramadan or Ramzan when the Muslim community practice Roza (fasting in Islam). The ritual is performed by observing a sehri or suhoor before sunrise, and iftar after Maghrib post-sunset. This ritual is followed for a period of up to 30 days as Eid depends on the moon sighting which might occur on the 29th of…

Detroit: Another school district will close for Muslim holiday, as Islamization continues
Detroit: Another school district will close for Muslim holiday, as Islamization continues
Source: Detroit schools to observe Muslim holiday...on Memorial Day!
For the first time in its history, the Detroit school district will recognize a Muslim holiday.
The school board Tuesday adopted the calendar for the 2019-20 school year that includes the observance of Eid al-Fitr on May 25, 2020, which would already have been a day off for Memorial Day, and on May 26, 2020 (a proposed professional development day for teachers). It will give students more time to observe the holiday that marks the end of Ramadan.
The day of observance was among the highlights of the new calendar, which also includes an early start to the school year, more teacher training days, a shorter mid-winter break, and several days built in at the end of the academic year for snow days.
Muslim students have been pushing officials to recognize the Eid holidays, like other nearby districts, such as Dearborn Public Schools, the Crestwood School District, and Hamtramck Public Schools.
Among those advocating for this day off was Mohammad Muntakim, a sophomore at Cass Technical High School and president of the school’s Muslim Student Association, who noted in a January opinion piece in the Detroit Free Press that the district already recognizes other religious holidays. Like most districts, Detroit typically schedules time off in December, around Christmas. The district also generally schedules Spring Break to coincide with the Holy Week that occurs before Easter, though that didn’t happen this year.
[PS: Ramadan is the month of JIHAD]

“By contrast, we Muslims are obligated to miss school in order to commemorate our sacred holidays, even though the district includes a large population of Muslim students,” he wrote. “That leaves us behind our classmates, and we are forced to catch up for doing nothing more than observing our religious holidays.”
Of the Muslim Eid holidays, only Eid al-Fitr falls on a school day during the 2019-20 academic year.
The board’s decision “recognizes the diversity of our school communities and is a way of celebrating that diversity,” said Rima Meroueh, manager of advocacy and community engagement at the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services, based in Dearborn.
But the decision is also important on two other fronts, she said. Muslim students, she said, already tend to take a couple of days off school to recognize the holiday.
“It decreases the likelihood that children and their parents have to choose between their deeply held beliefs and their education,” Meroueh said.
The decision is also important, she said, given Muslim students are increasingly hearing anti-Muslim sentiments.
“This sends a critical message to our Muslim-American children that they belong here, that they’re important.”
Or it sends a message that when Muslims invade a country, they Islamize it.
What percentage of students are Muslim? The Muslim Brotherhood-found Muslim Student Association doesn’t tell us.
They, and chalkbeat.org, also don’t tell readers that the MSA is a notorious jihad incubator with dozens of alumni convicted of terrorism or died waging jihad – see The growing list of Muslim Student Association (MSA) terrorists.

India’s Islamophobia Creeps Into Nepal
Nationalist media and pandemic fears have caused hatred to go viral.
India’s Hindu nationalist fundamentalists and its Islamophobic media are taking advantage of the coronavirus to push hatred to Nepal.
— BY ARUN BUDHATHOKI | JUNE 16, 2020 | Foreign Policy

KATHMANDU, Nepal — In Nepal, Muslims, who make up about 4 percent of the population, have lived peacefully alongside the majority Hindu population for centuries, arriving as immigrants from elsewhere but establishing strong communities. Nepalis pride themselves on a history of religious tolerance, even in a region where faith has often had bloody consequences.
But India’s right-wingers are trying hard to change that.
India’s Hindu nationalist fundamentalists and its Islamophobic media are taking advantage of the coronavirus to push hatred to Nepal through popular Indian news channels and social media.
The rise of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and his link to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh organization and its Hindu nationalist ideology, has strengthened the New Delhi establishment to the remaking of Nepal as a Hindu country again. In 2006, Nepal became a secular country after it ousted the old constitutional monarchy, when a more secular Indian government helped push former Maoist rebels to a peace deal and into mainstream politics. But it has been easy for Indian Islamophobia to spread to Nepal, thanks to the number of Hindi speakers there and the wide range of Indian TV available.India’s Hindu nationalist fundamentalists and its Islamophobic media are taking advantage of the coronavirus to push hatred to Nepal.
All this, mixed with yellow journalism in Nepal, has caused nasty rumors to spread fast. On April 16, a few rupee bills were found scattered in Janakpur, southern Nepal. One man picked up a note and offhandedly told a shopkeeper that the bills might be tainted with the coronavirus. A claim that two Muslim women had scattered the bills after spitting on them spread within no time, based on a CCTV video that showed the bills dropping out of their pockets. Islamophobic posts making claims such as that the women spat on the bills deliberately to spread the coronavirus went viral.
India’s Hindu nationalist fundamentalists and its Islamophobic media are taking advantage of the coronavirus to push hatred to Nepal
Meanwhile, the police tested the two women for COVID-19, and the initial quick test produced a positive result from one of the women. That sparked further hateful posts—but it later turned out that the test had been wrong and further testing gave negative results. In reality, the two women had just returned from the bankand had dropped the notes accidentally. The police pleaded for the public not to spread further rumors—but this particular incident didn’t spring out of nowhere. The groundwork had already been well laid.
A week earlier, on April 10, India’s right-wing media, particularly Hindi news channels, circulated sensationalized news that Pakistan might have sent coronavirus-infected Muslim men to India via Nepal. They coined a new term: “corona-jihad.” The claims were based on an unverified and largely unsourced report sent by the state of Bihar to the Indian Home Ministry, which included false claims that Jalim Miya, a Muslim politician in Nepal, was behind the supposed plot and that the group of men were taking paracetamol to suppress their fevers and pass undetected. Miya explained exasperatedly that there was no such plot and was backed by Nepal’s central government. It echoed earlier allegations and faked videos that Muslims traveling between the two countries were superspreaders. The Nepal-India border was sealed on March 30, and a large number of Nepalis and Indian migrants were quarantined at the border on April 2.Nepal is likely to keep seeing the Hindu nationalist agenda pushed hard by its giant neighbor.
On the one hand, such cooked-up stories have damaged the image of Indian media in Nepal. The hashtag #RIPIndianMedia trended in Nepal. Yet even Nepali journalists, online news portals, and the public engaged in Islamophobic posts and tweets—resulting in #IslamophobiaInNepal going viral.
Nepal is likely to keep seeing the Hindu nationalist agenda pushed hard by its giant neighbor
Hajji Abdullah Miya, a former member of the Hajj Committee of Nepal, told Foreign Policy: “Especially after the rise of Modi, the attitude towards Muslims in India has changed. In any case, the general tendency to portray Muslims negatively is old in India. India used to spread rumors against the Muslims of Nepal to create animosity with the Indian Muslims. Whether in the name of mosques and madrassas in the Terai border region or on other issues, India has always attacked Nepali Muslims.”
Nepal’s Muslims are worried about the rise in Islamophobia—but they hope their friends and neighbors will stop things getting worse. They point to the failure of the 1992 riots around the destruction of the Babri Masjid, a mosque built on a site also revered by Hindus in Ayodhya, India, to spread over the border. But there has been a steady rise in attacks against Nepali Muslims on social media. The majority of Nepalis, however, continue to reject the attempts to whip up hatred, and there have been no reported physical assaults on Muslims.
India’s right-wing is well entrenched, as is its Islamophobia. Nepal is likely to keep seeing the Hindu nationalist agenda pushed hard by its giant neighbor. But even amid the pandemic, Nepalis can still choose to reject hatred as they have done in the past.

Malaysian Federation OC
Hi! I’m back with another Southeast Asian OC!
Hey, welcome back. I figured since I have access to a computer I’ll look at your OC. I’ve been having an off week, so this is welcomed distraction.
Country/City/State Information- Name: Malaysian Federation Age: 600 years old Capital City (if country): Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya (administrative) Biggest City: Kuala Lumpur Boss (Mayor/President): Yang di-Pertuan Agong Muhammad V, Najib Razak (prime minister) Flag (Coat of arms) : Jalur Gemilang Biggest Ethnic Group: Malay Language(s) spoken: Malaysian, Chinese, Tamil, English, and 100+ regional languages Population: 31,584,000 Religion: Islam Government: Federal constitutional monarchy Climate: Tropical Economy: Developed
Okay, that’s all good and researched. That’s a pass. Let’s move on.
Human Information- Name: Nur Andayu binti Aslam (the binti part is usually dropped into “Nur Andayu Aslam”)
Information about why this is her name would be a great thing to add.
Nickname(s): Nur, Andayu Age: 20 Gender: Female Birthday: August 31st Current Residence: Putrajaya Bad Habit(s): Laziness, Barely on time, Littering, Queue-cutting, Jaywalking (the more I look at it the more she’s similar to Indo)
Oh I remember that OC!
Like(s): Durian, Photographing, Traveling, Nasi lemak, Teh tarik, Food in general tbh
Good. That’s all Malaysian food.
Dislike(s): Alcoholic drinks, gambling, nosy people Hobbies: Watching soap opera and Indian dramas, Cooking Malaysian cuisines (and eating them), Badminton Fear(s): Left behind (both physically and development-y), losing family Equipment/Weapons: Kris (like Keris, but the malay variation) Culture Favorites: Joget Melayu, Malaysian food, eid al fitr
All of this looks great, but I think some information about these, just like, extra stuff to make it stronger.
Personality: Compared to her sisters, Malaysia is a rather introverted and quiet girl. The reason behind why she doesn’t talk much is because she thinks a lot of what she’s gonna say before actually saying it.
This is off topic, but that is the exact opposite of me.
While many people thinks that she’s a serious and stone-faced person, she’s actually pretty gentle and cheery. She’s also seen as the most mature among the sisters, something Indonesia hates to admit. She’s also very religious and conservative, even though she doesn’t object to westernized style of clothing as long as it’s not revealing. She really loves her food and eating them, which gave her a bit too much weight until her (former) boss forced her to do more exercise.
Great! That represents Malaysia perfectly.
Even though Indonesia and Singapore are her rivals, deep down, she loves them more than anyone else in the world, something they feel in return but rarely admits. She has a verbal tic of saying ‘lah’ at the end of most sentences. Appearance-(I based some of this off her official design) Height: 159 cm (she often makes Indonesia insecure for having a younger sister taller than her)
My younger sister is my height…
Weight: 59 kg Hair: Black straight hair that reaches her back with her bangs split in the middle. Eyes: Dark Brown, almost black. A little more slanted than Indonesia and Philippines’ Skin: light brown Outfit(s): Usually, she wears a black cardigan with a cream coloured shirt under it, black wavy pants, and flat shoes. She also wears a scarf with multiple colours and styles. On meetings, she usually wears Baju Kurung with bright colours such as yellow and red and beautiful patterns. She also wears a hijab for formality during meetings. Accessories: Golden earrings, Jade necklace, and sometimes a hibiscus hairclip.
I like this a lot!
Relationships- Ancestor: Langkasuka, Srivijaya, Majapahit, Chola empire (I didn’t put in the ones in Borneo bc my headcanon is that Malaysia is mainland Malaysia that happens to be the rep of the whole country, like England)
Good choice.
Family: Indonesia, Philippines, and Timor Leste (sisters), India (not blood-related, but considered as big brother bc he has a great influence on Southeast Asia), Sabah and Serawak (think of the last two like China and his provinces) Friends: Asean 11, China, Japan, N. Korea (seriously tho. no visa required for malaysians visiting), Pakistan Rivals: Indonesia, Singapore Enemies: Israel (like most of the muslim world, she supports Palestine on this) Pet: A cat (she wants a baby tiger, but none of her bosses ever allows it.) Potential Love Interest: Singapore
This looks fantastic, and the OC really has her own flavor.
Foreign Relationships: -Indonesia : Malaysia’s older sister. As kingdoms, they used to have a nice relationship, with Malacca helping Nusantara (Indonesia) distribute her spices to India and mainland ASEAN kingdoms. However, after the 1963 confrontation, they have a love-hate relationship with each other and often fights over the simplest matter. She calls Indonesia ‘Indon’, which results in Indonesia calling her 'Malon’ as an insult/pet-name. -Philippines : Malaysia’s younger sister. There wasn’t much interaction between the two on pre-colonial times, with the exception of meet-ups with their other sisters. After their independence, they get along pretty nicely. Sometimes they bicker over claims on Spratly Islands, even though not as much as her fights with Indonesia. Malaysia often complains about the fact that Philippines changes her Tagalog human name to a Spanish name in accordance to her population majority’s names.
I really don’t have much to correct here. You did a good job personifying a country.
-East Timor : Malaysia’s youngest sister. There wasn’t much interaction between the two on pre-colonial times, with the exception of meet-ups with their other sisters. Since 1999, Malaysia decided that she has to take over Timor’s care from Indonesia through the UN and helps her develop her human resources and infrastructure. Timor looks up to her as a role model. -Singapore : As pre-colonial kingdoms, they were married for a short period of time before the Malacca Sultanate decided to completely took over Singapura. Since then, Malaysia has developed a crush on Singapore, even though she rarely admits it, and vice versa. He helped her went through the Portuguese occupation even though they were separated. They’re later reunited under the British Malaya. Today, he is Malaysia’s biggest trading partner. They sometimes bicker over their claims on Pedra Branca island and Malaysia’s complains about the fact that Singapore changes his Malay name to a Chinese sounding one in accordance to his population majority. -Brunei Darussalam : During the pre-colonial period. Sulu (Brunei) and Malacca often trades with each other, and he introduced her to Sabah and Serawak, who used to look down on her. Today, they have a nice relationship with each other, and he is the only country that she doesn’t bicker with over border disputes. Instead, they put it in a pause and drop the subject around each other. Like Indonesia, Malaysia supports Philippines to be with Brunei rather than America, no matter how much he says that the past relationship was just a brief puppy love. -England/Britain : They first met during the 17th century, where England first came as a trader. However, the country’s interest on colonizing Malaysia and her neighbours became apparent and by the 19th century, the area are part of the British empire. Currently, she has mixed feelings about him. While he had practiced segregation and colonized her, he also develops her and backed her up during the 1963 confrontation. In the end, Malaysia considers him a troublesome father figure. -India : Malaysia’s big brother figure. They first met when India went to her land for trading. He introduced to her the Ramayana epic which she adopted as Hikayat Seri Rama and Sanskrit script, which she borrowed a lot of words from. When she was colonized by Portugal, they were separated but later reunited under British Empire. Today, there’s a remarkable population of Indian-Malaysian and Tamil is a widely spoken language there. Economic and education cooperation between them is increasing steadily. They enjoy watching Bollywood movies together.
Good. This all looks awesome.
History: Malaysia was born on the 15th century as the Malacca Sultanate, when Parameswara, the prince of Palembang, seek refugee from Majapahit and build a kingdom in the area. The first years of her life are spent trying to fend off Ayutthaya and Majapahit from taking over her land, and with the help of China, she managed to get them away for good. She met India during this time period, who quickly takes a liking to her and introduced her to Brunei and Nusantara (Indonesia), and later, Timor and Philippines. She got “married” for a short period with Singapura until the sultanate takes full control over the smaller kingdom. However, in late 16th century, she was colonized by Portugal and later England. While she surely dislikes England here and there, overally, she thinks of England as a troublesome father figure. In 1942, like most of the Southeast Asian nations, she got colonized by Japan. Unlike her sister Indonesia, Malaysia decided to not rashly declare independence and instead negotiate her way to independence. She finally reaches independence on 31 August 1957 as a part of the British Commonwealth. In 1963, Indonesia invaded her land in Borneo, resulting in a 4-years confrontation, in which the Commonwealth backed her in. This results in a love-hate relationship with her sister to this day. In 1969, a riot happened between the Chinese-Malaysian and the Native Malays, which spreads to Singapore. After East Timor became independent, she helps her rebuild infrastructure and human power, and became a role model for Timor. Today, Malaysia is a prominent member of Asean as one of its founders.
Okay, I don’t have many things to question here because you covered most of the things I would have needed to touch at. But here’s what I can say.
- Add some reasoning to her bio, like what does that represent?
Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I’d put the Mod Kat Hetalia OC seal or approval, but it’s on my broken laptop. I’ll see you all later!
~Kat

Saudi-led coalition poised to take airport of Yemen
ADEN (Reuters) – Forces from a Saudi-led coalition were poised to enter the airport of Yemen’s main port, Hodeidah, on Friday as the Arab alliance prepared to seize the city in the biggest battle of a three-year war.
A pro-Houthi police trooper stands past a patrol vehicle in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, Yemen June 14, 2018. REUTERS/Abduljabbar Zeyad
Coalition warplanes pounded coastal areas southeast of the Houthi-held city as residents marked the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan by gathering at dawn in an open area for Eid al-Fitr prayers.
“Many warplanes were flying low over the city during the prayers,” one resident of the heavily defended city said.
Forces of the western-backed coalition, led by Emirati troops, have advanced to within meters of the airport, Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television quoted Yemeni military officials as saying.
Warplanes also struck the main road linking Hodeidah to the capital Sanaa to block reinforcements to the Houthis, the Iran-aligned movement that controls the capital and most of Yemen’s populated areas.
The United Nations, which says the war has created the world’s most pressing humanitarian crisis, is struggling to avert disruption to Hodeidah.
The port is the main lifeline for food aid to a country where 8.4 million people are facing starvation. A U.N. diplomatic source said five commercial vessels were offloading at the port.

“I urge all parties to the conflict to meet their obligations to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and take active steps to respect international humanitarian law,” David Beasleye, executive director of the U.N. World Food Programme, said in a statement.
Capturing Hodeidah would give the Arab coalition the upper hand in the war, in which neither side has made much progress since it intervened in 2015 to restore the internationally recognized government in exile.
Many residents have fled the city.
“My family left for Sanaa yesterday but I stayed behind alone to protect our home from looters,” said Mohammed Abdullah, an employee of the Houthi administration.
The United Nations says 22 million Yemenis need humanitarian aid and the number at risk of starvation could more than double to more than 18 million by year-end unless access improves.

Coalition leaders Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates say there are plans to prevent the battle from worsening the humanitarian disaster and they will be able to improve food supplies once they control Hodeidah, the Houthis’ only port.
CALL TO BATTLE
Riyadh and Abu Dhabi say the Houthis are a proxy force for Iran, Saudi Arabia’s arch regional rival.
The Houthis, from a Shi’ite minority, deny being Tehran’s pawns and say they took power in a popular revolt and are defending Yemen from invasion by its neighbors.
Houthi leader Mohammed Ali al-Houthi called on his followers late on Thursday to head to the frontlines to fight the “instruments of the United States and Israel”.
“The Yemeni coast has been a strategic target for the invaders throughout history and confronting the aggression is a national duty in the face of the danger of foreign occupation.”
The Western-backed alliance says capturing Hodeidah would deprive the Houthis of their main source of income and prevent them from bringing in missiles, dozens of which have been fired at Saudi Arabia.
The United States and other Western powers provide arms and intelligence to the coalition. Human rights groups criticize them over air strikes that have killed hundreds of civilians.
The United States rejected a request from the UAE for intelligence, mine-sweeping and airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) assets for the Hodeidah operation, a UAE official said, speaking on condition of anonymity, while noting congressional opposition.
However, the official said France had agreed to provide mine-sweeping support for the operation. The UAE has said the Houthis could plant land and sea mines at the port.
