can’t currently afford the print copy of the fabulous @lackadaisycats work?
maybe your local library will buy it in the meantime! hand for scale.
reading a hard copy of what I found years ago on the internet is cool in its own right, but the over 20 pages of bonus content are what’s really tempting.
note about the back cover: this is what was facing out as I carried the book in my arm out of the library and into the streets. certainly didn’t make me look like a psycho I’m sure.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning Maus tells the story of Vladek Spiegelman, a Jewish survivor of Hitler’s Europe, and his son, a cartoonist coming to terms with his father’s story. Maus approaches the unspeakable through the diminutive. Its form, the cartoon (the Nazis are cats, the Jews mice), shocks us out of any lingering sense of familiarity and succeeds in “drawing us closer to the bleak heart of the Holocaust” (The New York Times).

On this day, 128 years ago, Italian forces with their high tech weapons, diplomatic cover from their imperial allies and confident assertion of African servitude got their a** kicked by Black Ethiopian warriors in the most stunning way in the history of the world. So much so that the European and American press began to question how Black the Ethiopians really were and started publishing stories about the origins of “Caucasian Ethiopia”. Happy Victory Day to Ethiopia! 🇪🇹 We made a graphic novel of this story. Link in bio to read it now. #etancomics

Lenni Reviews: "Witchcraft: A Graphic History" by Lindsay Squire
(Image Source) *This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. Told through a young girl named Lindsay visiting Biddy, a the early 19th century Irish witch, this book tells the history of witchcraft through the ages. First off, the art style if perfect for this. It captures the beauty of nature and magic; even gives biddy a knowing glint in her expressions. It’s exposition heavy in…

Plain Jane and the Mermaid
by Vera Brosgol
From Eisner Award winner Vera Brosgol comes an instant classic about courage, confidence, and inner beauty.
Jane is incredibly plain. Everyone says so: her parents, the villagers, and her horrible cousin who kicks her out of her own house. Determined to get some semblance of independence, Jane prepares to propose to the princely Peter, who might just say yes to get away from his father. It’s a good plan! Or it would’ve been, if he wasn’t kidnapped by a mermaid. With her last shot at happiness lost in the deep blue sea, Jane must venture to the underwater world to rescue her maybe-fiancé. But the depths of the ocean hold beautiful mysteries and dangerous creatures. What good can a plain Jane do? From Vera Brosgol, the author of Anya's Ghost and Be Prepared, comes an instant classic that flips every fairy tale you know, and shows one girl's crusade for the only thing that matters—her own independence.
