Lian Galiano was bitten by a radioactive dolomedes spider AKA a fishing spider. She has the standard webslinging, super strength and agility, spidey sense, etc, plus a few water powers like being able to walk on it like it's the ground, and breathing underwater for periods of time. She designed projectile discs that release water and she can launch multiple of them to use the water like a staircase or a pathway. When he's not Spider-Lily, he's a marine biology student at a university. He's male-female bigender, and hispasian, more specifically Chinese and Puerto Rican– (YES this is just my gender and ethnicity, that's what comes with being a spiderSONA)– but he purposely keeps Spider-Lily ambiguous. He has attended multiple parades as Spider-Lily, including but not limited to Pride, The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Lunar New Year, and the Puerto Rican parade. He started a goggles brand as Spider-Lily to help pay for college tuition. In his universe and city, there is another Spiderperson called Spider-Mantis who is my boyfriend's Spidersona and very predicatbly they are in gay love with each other <3

How We Told Our Families

Let’s begin with Chino’s family first. They aren’t that BIG with surprises, so the moment we found out, we decided to tell them. Starting with the youngest. Chino, after a few tears, immediately called his younger brother. When he picked up the phone, Chino was just straight-forward and boldly said, “GUESS WHAT.” And his younger brother couldn’t believe it. He was so happy, jumping up and down for us. It just made the moment a million times better. The next person we called was his mother. At the time, his mom was staying with his abuela & abuelo. As Chino was making small talk, he finally came forward and told his mom, “You’re going to have another grandchild…” (in Spanish, of course LOL). And she was ecstatic. She immediately told abuela & abuelo, and they were so excited as well! Man, it was one amazing night. I really felt all the love in that one moment & I knew that this baby would feel it too, for the rest of his/her life. The last person in the family that Chino told was his older brother. And he too, was so proud of him. That night & next morning was the best feeling I’ve ever felt. I honestly couldn’t be any happier.

Now…onto my family. Since my parents & brother weren’t apart of my wedding day, I wanted to make this milestone special for them. And that is what I did. I planned everything out, waiting to surprise them when we visited for Christmas break. So, let’s start off with my parents. We wanted to wait for a night where they were both off from work. And so we did. Two nights after first arriving to Florida, both of them were finally off & wanted to go out to a fancy restaurant out by the beachside for dinner. We knew this couldn’t be anymore perfect. We enjoy an early evening together, just catching up and building memories. Finally, at around 11 PM, we got home. The part that you don’t know is that we had our surprise organized & ready before leaving to the restaurant (…we worked all afternoon on it, secretly). As much as my mom wanted to go upstairs and get ready for bed, we were persistent in giving them our surprise first. We told them to wait downstairs as we brought it down. And they patiently did. Once we were downstairs, we told them to stand side by side. Then, we asked them to close their eyes & to keep their heads up until we tell them otherwise. As they were smiling and getting a bit nervous, we handed them poster boards to hold up against their chest. Following our directions while giggling, we secretly took a few pictures of them (just in case this moment was to turn a WHOLE different direction LOL we wanted at least one happy picture of them). Finally, we told them to open their eyes & to read the poster boards. As you can see from the picture above, we made it a bit difficult. At first, they were reading their own boards vertically downwards (which of course, did NOT make any sense to them). After about 8 minutes trying to figure out what it was saying, my mother read, “…grandparents.” And IT HIT HER. She was like “WHAT? NO WAY! Are you pregnant?!” While my father was like, “…where did you read that?!” Chino and I paused, looked at each other, and together said, “YES!” And the reaction we received was nothing compared to what we thought. They were so happy, so thrilled. They were just concerned about my well-being since I’m so far away (which showed me how blessed I truly am to have them as my parents). After this moment, I knew that this baby was our biggest blessing <3 Everything just fell perfectly…

The only person left to talk about is my little brother. And how we surprised him was the most hilarious thing ever. It was during a small weekend vacation in Orlando. As he visited our hotel, we got a couple of hotel pad papers & decided to create a word puzzle. Sitting on the table, we laid it out in front of him (of course, out of order). We told him that he needed to figure out what the sentence was in order to receive his surprise. At first, he was getting it, “You’re an…” Finally, he came to the last word and it wrote, “NELUC.” My brother was like, “WTF.” The next 15 MINUTES was spent trying to figure out what we were trying to say. He took off his glasses, placed his hands against his head, and even called his girlfriend to help him out. He was stressed. FINALLY, he got it, “UNCLE. Ohhh, you’re an uncle!” For a quick two seconds, he didn’t realize what he just said. Then, it hit him. He quickly turned his head towards me & immediately got up to hug me. He congratulated the both of us, starting to already throw out names, “I think Raynel is a good name.” LOL. Hmm, maybe I can show you guys the video if he approves of it. That’s the one recording we have from both families!

Man, the fact that both families reacted so well to the big news made us realize that this was all meant to be <3 Although we are still young and immature (mainly me LOL), I know that this baby is going to be loved and supported. And that’s mainly what I want for my child. We may not know what is to come, but I’m beyond blessed to have such great people behind me every step of the way, along with my forever person.

We got this, Chino, as long as we have each other. Together, we can do great things. I love you.

PS. The baby registry is falling a tad bit behind since it’s A LOT to choose from. I’m hoping to get both registries up by the end of this week, May 4! Wish me luck LOL.
