tricks up sleeves and all that
rosekiller microfic | 1,180 words | magician Barty, single dad Evan
The first thing Evan thought when his daughter told him she wanted a magician at her birthday party was how did I raise a child who enjoys close-up magic? It wouldn’t have been his first choice, probably wouldn’t have even been his last. He would’ve gone with something classier, more elegant, like a tea party or a day at the museum. Something to live up to the extravagance of previous years. Sure, Eleanor is only seven but that doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy the finer things.
So, in between meetings and phone calls, Evan researched children’s birthday party magicians, and as you’d expect, not much was living up to his standards. After days of sifting through resumes and background checks, he was eventually able to find a well-designed website with good reviews and speak to a representative who promised to send their best.
This is why Evan is so confused when he opens his front door to find a tall, lanky man in ripped jeans and a worn out t-shirt, his look complete with ruffled hair, an eyebrow piercing, and excessive amounts of tattoos.
“You must have the wrong house,” Evan says. He thinks he should probably close the door but something about this man is intriguing. He wants to look for just a second longer.
The man leans back to check the address beside the door. “You’re Mr. Rosier, right? I’m here for the birthday party. I’m Barty, the magician.”
Evan raises a brow. “You don’t look like a magician.”
“Were you expecting a full tuxedo? It’s like 95 degrees out.” A tilted grin spreads over his face, showing off a pointy canine. “Here let me show you.” Before Evan can back away, Barty is reaching behind his ear and producing a shiny quarter, flipping it between his fingers confidently. “Ta da.”
“That’s hardly magic,” Evan says, crossing his arms. He better get a full refund if this is the best they had.
“No, you’re right. That’s just the decoy.” He raises his left hand, and between his thumb and pointer finger he holds Evan’s watch, which had previously been secured to his wrist.
Evan’s mouth drops open slightly. He hadn’t even felt it. “That’s not magic either, that is literally stealing.” He snatches the watch back, putting it on.
“It’s the art of misdirection,” Barty explains. “I do a dumb coin trick, and while you’re paying attention to that, I do something more impressive. It’s like, the basis of all magic.”
Evan doesn’t even know what to say. This man has just pickpocketed him on his own front porch and now he wants Evan to let him into his house?
At the same time Evan is getting ready to slam the door in Barty’s face, Eleanor appears at his hip, smile wider than a mile across her face.
“Is this the magician, Dad?” she asks, tugging at his shirt while she bounces up and down.
“You must be Eleanor,” Barty says, squatting down so they’re at eye level. He’s performing now, Evan can tell. He lights up and his smugness from before is washed away. “Would you like to pick a card?”
Eleanor nods enthusiastically.
Barty pulls a deck out of his back pocket and starts shuffling. Evan watches the way his fingers move deftly around the cards. Bending and flipping them expertly before fanning them out in front of her.
“Okay, go ahead. But don’t tell me what your card is, just show it to your dad and put it back anywhere in the deck.”
Eleanor does as instructed and shows Evan the card, ace of hearts, before sliding it back in.
“Thanks Eleanor, that’s great.” He starts shuffling the cards again, adding in flourishes here and there. Evan watches intently, trying to track his every move, see where he might be switching cards out or taking a peek, but he moves too quickly for Evan to stay on top of everything. “Now Ellie, can I call you Ellie?” Eleanor giggles and nods her head. “Your dad here,” he tilts his head up at Evan, “has already seen me do a trick similar to this, but I think I can put a new spin on it, what do you say?”
Eleanor looks up at Evan, affronted. “Dad! You’ve been playing with the magician without me?”
Evan hears Barty try to stifle a laugh and feels the beginning of a tension headache spreading behind his eyes. “I was just making sure he was up to our standards,” he grits out.
“Don’t worry Ellie, your dad was just doing his due diligence.” Eleanor looks appeased and waves her hand in a motion that tells Barty to continue. He does one last shuffle and then reaches behind Eleanor’s ear. When he pulls back, he has the ace of spades in between his pointer and middle fingers. “So Ellie, was this your card?”
She looks confused and a little disappointed. Evan holds himself back from kicking Barty directly in the face. “Um… close,” she says. “Mine had hearts on it.”
Barty looks at the card. “Huh. You know, sometimes the cards don’t always do what we want them to so we have to shake some sense into them. He starts waving the card quickly back and forth. When it comes to a stop, Barty holds the ace of hearts where the ace of spades had previously been. He smiles in triumph. Evan still kind of wants to kick him in the face.
Eleanor lets out an excited squeal and rushes forward to tackle Barty into a hug. “Can we keep him, Dad?” she screams directly in Barty’s ear. He doesn’t even flinch.
Evan lets out a resigned sigh. He’s really never been able to deny Eleanor anything, so he steps to the side, opening the door wider, a smile tugging on the corners of his mouth. “Of course Eleanor. Go gather your friends in the living room. Barty will be right in.” He places a hand on her head as she runs by.
Barty stands up and straightens his pants out, sliding the deck back into his pocket. “Good enough?” he asks, shrugging a shoulder.
Evan scrutinizes him for a second, running his eyes over every inch of the man. The line of his cheekbone, the curve of his neck, the way his thumb rubs a circle into the side of his pointer finger. There’s something about him. Evan hasn’t heard Eleanor scream that loud since Pandora got her a bug collection kit for Christmas last year.
“I want you to know that I keep a detailed inventory of everything in my home, so if you steal something I will find out, and you won't be happy about the consequences.”
Barty smiles, something mischievous glinting in his eye. “We’ll see about that,” he says brushing past Evan to make his way into the living room. Evan closes the door behind him. Right before Barty turns the corner, he throws something over his shoulder. Without thinking, Evan catches it. His wallet. With the ace of hearts sticking mockingly out of the top.

How To Throw A Circus Themed Birthday Party For Your Kid?
Tumblr media
Planning an unforgettable circus-themed birthday party for your child is a delightful way to create cherished memories filled with laughter, wonder, and excitement. The vibrant and lively world of the circus naturally captivates kids, making it the perfect theme for a joyous celebration. In this article, we'll guide you through the steps to organize an incredible circus-themed birthday party that will leave your child and their friends utterly enthralled, from the initial planning to the magical moments that will unfold during the festivities.
Planning the Circus Extravaganza
Planning is the key to ensuring that your circus-themed birthday party goes off without a hitch. To make this event truly special, you'll need to carefully consider decorations, activities, and delectable treats that will keep the young audience entertained from start to finish. From selecting the perfect venue to sending out creative invitations, every detail plays a crucial role in crafting a magical experience that your child and their friends will treasure for years to come.
Step 1: Create a Vibrant Circus Atmosphere
To transport your young guests into the magical world of the circus, start by adorning the party area with bold and vibrant colors. Hang colorful balloons, streamers, and posters featuring circus animals and acrobats. If possible, set up a big top tent or a circus backdrop to make the scene even more authentic.
Step 2: Invite Magicians and Party Clowns
No circus is complete without talented performers, and for your child's special day, consider hiring professional magicians and birthday clowns. For instance, skilled Miami magicians can perform captivating tricks, create intricate balloon animals, and even offer face painting services. Their presence will leave the little ones giggling and utterly amazed, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Step 3: Organize Fun Circus Games
To keep the excitement going, plan a variety of thrilling circus games. Classic games like ring toss, duck pond, and bean bag toss have always been a hit. Additionally, consider having a mini circus parade where the kids can dress up as circus performers and march in a joyful procession. This will be more special with party clowns Miami and other places. Don't forget to offer exciting prizes for the winners to add an extra layer of fun and competition.
Step 4: Serve Circus-Style Snacks
When it comes to refreshments, go all out with circus-themed snacks. Treat your young guests to popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs – staples you'd find at a real circus. A circus-themed cake can take center stage as the highlight of the dessert table, complete with colorful decorations and, if you wish, a miniature circus tent as a cake topper.
In Essence
Themes are generally fun to do for kids' parties, and hosting a circus-themed birthday party for your child is a fantastic way to create cherished memories and a day filled with joy. Children are usually excited to see colorful and fun things, so this theme will be perfect for the little ones. For more party entertainment, consider exploring the offerings available on MamaMia Magic, a leader in the area of party entertainment. Summonings and Grave Misunderstandings
The Justice League summons Ghost King Danny Phantom to help save the Earth. They are tired, they have numerous allies unconscious or unable to fight they are willing to do anything.
Danny was having some trouble, the entertainment he had for Danielle's birthday party just cancelled because they had a family situation. He didn't blame them for cancelling but now he had to stop a civil war from starting in one of his territories and look for new entertainment and have their backgrounds checked. Thankfully he had two weeks to do it. That was when he felt someone summoning him.
Zatanna knew she was a beautiful woman and she knew any man or woman would love to have her. So it wasn't surprising when the Ghost King asked for her as entertainment for a day after he saved the earth and had his people's doctors heal everyone. He just showed how powerful he was and a portion of his people's technological advancement and power. She couldn't even look into her teammates eyes when she accepted. She knew they would do anything to get her out of this situation but it was her dignity or the lives of the people she loves and that was a no brainer. Sadly, after steeling herself to go with the King then and there he had told her he would send for her in two weeks.
Danny has one problem down now and he swears Clockwork was behind this because it was too coincidental but he's not complaining. He now has entertainment for his little sister's birthday party and the one, entertaining the guest was a superhero magician famous for protecting the innocent and performing magic on stage. Maybe his Fenton luck is turning around.
Two weeks passed and Zatanna, the Justice League and JLD couldn't find anything to break the deal. So, when a portal opened the Fright Knight walked out to greet her, she couldn't even look at her friends as she walked towards the portal. When she came out the other side she noticed ghosts scrambling around putting up what looked like birthday decorations.
I see this ending in one of two ways.
1. Zatanna tells Danny what she and the League thought she was going to do. Danny apologises and tells Zatanna that he can pay her to entertain the party and that the Justice League can come if was comfortable with that.
2. She doesn't bring up the misunderstanding and does the show. It goes so well that Danny pays her a huge amount, that has Zatanna grinning ear to ear and a promise to hire her again. She returns to the League smiling and tells them how much she enjoyed entertaining everyone over there and that she can't wait for Danny to call her again, not noticing their shocked expression.

soap pick up line where reader goes up to him and says
“do you like magic? because ive got a rabbit and a wand we can use”
risky, so very risky
06 / 396 words
Soap peers at you, frowning over his pint glass. "What's a rabbit got to do with magic?"
Your teasing smile falls into a look of disbelief. "Are you serious?"
"Is this a joke or are you trying to waste my time again?"
"The rabbit from a hat trick?" You grope for the right words to explain. You didn't think there would be cultural context required for this pick-up line. "It's like the stock stage magician trick. How do you not know what that is?"
Soap scoffs, swirling his beer and turning his barstool so that he's leaning back on the bar and facing the other patrons. "You're takin' the piss. Rabbits don't fit in hats."
"That's why it's a trick. My God. Are there no street magicians in Glasgow? No silly magic shows?"
Soap takes a swig of his beer, looking amused by your reaction. "Wouldnae know if there were. Got better things to do than pay money to watch some dunce dressin' up rabbits."
"Unbelievable. Who do you hire for birthday party, then? Don't say clowns. No kid wants a clown."
"Dunno. Do people actually still hire out for that? Thought they'd moved on to high-tech shite. Video games." He cracks a grin and leans back with his elbows on the bar behind him. "Clown doesn't sound so bad. Maybe we hire you for a gig like tha'?"
"Hilarious."
He shrugs. "Suppose you could hire one of those fortune-teller types who can read your palm and talk to animals."
"What? That sounds fake."
"Right, so you're saying rabbits do fit in hats?"
"That's not what I mean and you know it. They don't do parties."
"Aye, I swear they do. I thought about gettin' certified myself before joinin' the military. Make some extra cash. Thought I might like to be a cat whisperer."
You feel yourself make a face. "Why?"
"You really wanna know, hen?" He takes another sup of beer, but now there's a wide smirk on his lips. "You sure?"
"Why are you saying it like that?" You pause for a beat. "Why cats?"
"Same reason you've got yourself a wand and a rabbit, hen." He leans in. "Cause I know exactly what a pussy needs."

Birthday Party - Part 1
Sarah attends her little cousin’s birthday party, but after she makes the girl cry, the hypnotist hired for the event decides she needs a little attitude adjustment. Sarah missed the hypnotist’s performance earlier, but that’s okay, because he’s happy to give her a one-on-one session to help her enjoy herself just as much as the birthday girl.
***
Sarah parked her car in her Auntie’s driveway and rolled her eyes at the sight of the decorations adorning the front of the house. Multicoloured streamers were draped over the hedges, and a large pink banner hung over the doorway – the words Happy Birthday Penny, written in sparkly silver letters, were flanked by a pair of cartoon unicorns. It was so embarrassingly girly that Sarah couldn’t help but cringe. She wasn’t a tomboy exactly, but she’d long since abandoned anything quite so pink and cutesy.
She got out of the car and huffed. She was twenty-one years old for God’s sake! She had better things to do than spend a whole afternoon at some stupid baby’s birthday party, but her mother had been insistent. Sure, Penny was her cousin, but Sarah hardly even knew her. She’d been away at university when Penny had been born, and Sarah had only seen her a handful of times. She didn’t like babies. Most of her friends thought they were adorable, but Sarah couldn’t get the thought of dirty diapers out of her head. Babies were so disgusting!
Sarah opened the front door and heard the loud laughter and shrieking of a little girl’s birthday party happening inside. How old was Penny anyway? Sarah looked up and noticed several pink balloons bobbing about on the hallway ceiling, emblazoned with the large number “3”. Surely she’d be out of nappies by now at least. If Sarah was asked to go anywhere near a used diaper, she was going to storm out straight away.
She walked down the hall, following the noise, and entered a spacious kitchen that was adjoined to the living room. The place was covered in streamers and balloons and confetti, and there was an enormous chocolate cake sitting in the middle of the table. Her little cousin was wearing a bright pink dress and a plastic tiara, running around the living room playing a game of musical chairs with her friends.
“There you are, Sarah!” came a voice, and Sarah looked around to see her Auntie marching towards her, smiling. “I was worried you weren’t coming!”
“Oh, yeah…” Sarah said vaguely. “There was a lot of traffic.”
Her Auntie’s smile became rather fixed, but she didn’t contest the lie. “Why don’t you have some cake?” she asked sweetly.
“No thanks,” Sarah said, glancing at the chocolate cake with distaste. Just imagine how many calories were in that! Her Auntie wasn’t exactly fat, but she was a lot plumper than Sarah’s own model-thin physique. She might be happy to risk her figure, but Sarah certainly wasn’t.
At that moment, the game of musical chairs ended, and Penny was left jumping up and down, squealing excitedly at her victory. Her mother went over to congratulate her, leaving Sarah to help herself to a drink.
She looked around hopefully for a sign of something alcoholic, but there was nothing. Already wishing she’d made up some excuse not to come, never mind how furious her mother and Auntie might have been with her, she poured herself a plastic cup of lemonade and lounged against the kitchen counter, examining the other guests. There was no-one else even close to her age. Everyone was either a brat or a parent.
Then a man strolled over and leant against the counter next to her. He was dressed very peculiarly in a tailed coat and bowtie, like a stage magician.
“Hello,” said Sarah, uncertainly.
“Nice to meet you, sweetie!” the man said cheerfully. “Are you enjoying the party?”
Sarah was about to lie and say that she was, but there was something about his overly bright tone that annoyed her. “No,” she said bluntly, sounding much more like a pouty child than she’d intended. She felt her face going red.
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that,” the man said kindly. “It’s a shame you weren’t here earlier. I’m a hypnotist, you see. I’m very good with suggestions. I go around deciding what all the boys and girls should become, then I tell them how to act accordingly. There’s always at least one person who’s not enjoying themselves, but after a session with me, they’ll be running around and giggling as happily as anyone else.”
He smiled at her, and Sarah felt a chill run down her spine. The man was quite handsome, even if he was almost twice her age, but there was something a little unsettling about his expression. He was probably hoping to get into her pants, Sarah thought. But no… that wasn’t it. His expression wasn’t predatory. Not exactly. It was more amused, or condescending. He was looking at her in the same way all the parents were looking at their shrieking three-year-olds, and Sarah didn’t like it at all.
“Well anyway,” she said, thinking hard for an excuse to get away, but at that moment her Auntie reappeared, holding Penny’s hand. The girl was fidgeting with the hem of her pink dress and staring shyly at her shoes.
“Sarah,” said her Auntie in a whisper, “could I have your help? I’m afraid Penny’s had a little accident, and I could do with someone to help me clean her up.”
“She had a…” Sarah began, looking down at Penny’s waist. No pee-stained socks. No puddle on the floor. “An accident?” she asked. Surely this couldn’t be happening. Surely she wasn’t really being asked to do this.
“In her pull-ups,” her Auntie clarified.
Sarah looked at her in disgust. “She’s pissed herself and you want me to help change her fucking nappy?” she demanded, disbelieving.
“Sarah!” her Auntie exclaimed in a shocked voice.
“No way,” Sarah said firmly, “I’m not doing that.”
Penny started to cry.
“Now look what you’ve done!” her Auntie snapped. She turned to her daughter. “It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s okay. It’s not your fault.”
“Oh come on,” Sarah sneered. “Can she really not use a toilet at three years old?” She felt a little guilty about making her cousin cry, but she was too angry to care. Her Auntie was acting like she was the one who’d done something wrong! Just because she didn’t want to change a disgusting, pissy diaper! “Maybe I should have brought some nappies for her as a birthday present.”
Her Auntie glared at her furiously. She’d just opened her mouth to say something when the hypnotist cut in. “I’ll take care of Sarah,” he said mildly. He exchanged a meaningful look with her Auntie, and Sarah was shocked to see a smile flash across the woman’s face. She nodded and led her crying daughter away by the hand, throwing Sarah one last furious look over her shoulder.
Sarah rounded on the ridiculous man. “What do you mean you’ll take care of me?” she demanded, raising her eyebrow in a superior way. “I’m not a… not a… What are you… doing…?”
Her voice faltered. The hypnotist had taken out a shining silver pocket watch, and was swinging it in front of her face. Sarah wanted to laugh, but something stopped her. Her thoughts felt slow and sluggish. The hypnotist was saying something, but she wasn’t sure what. The watch was glittering brightly. So, so brightly…
The hypnotist took her by the hand and started leading her further into the house. She tried to stop, but it was as if her body was out of her control. Her feet wouldn’t obey her! She felt a knot of anxiety tighten in her stomach. What was going on?!
The man smiled at her over his shoulder. “Like I told you before, I’m very good with suggestions. I always have been! I know you’re scared, Sarah, but there’s nothing to be frightened about. I’m just going to help you have a lovely time at Penny’s party, and after that…” He paused, smirking. “Well, after that I suppose it will be up to your Auntie.”
Sarah tried to say something, anything, but no words would come out. Before she knew it, she was sitting in a comfy chair in the spare bedroom, the noise of the party echoing distantly. The hypnotist was sat directly across from her, his shiny silver pocket watch back in his hand.
He swung it gently before her eyes, and Sarah couldn’t tear her eyes away. So shiny, she thought. So pretty. Pretty pocket watch…
“That’s it, Sarah,” the hypnotist cooed. “That’s a good girl. Now, we’re going to have a little talk, that’s all, and see if we can make your behaviour match your attitude.”

A Private Performance
Or; We've had a hard week, lets write smut to cope.
Rating: E
Summary:
A kid's birthday party at the American Embassy was never going to be a fun time for the wait staff.
But Crowley's day is improved immensely by the magician the Ambassador's wife has hired for the entertainment.
Excerpt:
“God, I don’t even know your name,” Crowley gasped between kisses. “Unless you go by ‘Fell the Marvellous’ in your daily life, which seems unlikely.”
“It’s Aziraphale.”
“Aziraphale,” Crowley repeated, testing out the unfamiliar syllables. “Lovely to meet you. And it’s Crowley, to my friends.”
“Are we friends?” Aziraphale asked with his eyes fixed on Crowley, who was sinking to his knees.
“Depends.” Crowley took a second to appreciate the view of the magician’s thighs before getting to work on the fastenings of his trousers, under which the view was even better. “Oh, God, yes, we can be friends."

Hello! I love Tales of Arcadia and I was wondering if you had any headcanons you wanted to share? Or any thoughts on the show? Or literally anything at all? Please I am so starved for content in this fandom I just want to hear someone talk about it 💛💛💛
omg I have so many thoughts about ToA!!!! Although they are mostly just thoughts about Douxie
I think that Douxie is just a character who exists in the peripheries of everyones lives not in the sense that he's super important but in the sense that everyone in Arcadia knows who he is
Like maybe he used to babysit Jim! He's Barbara's favorite barista at the coffee shop because he always gets her order just right! He was hired as a stage magician for one of Claire's birthday parties when she was a kid! He volunteers to run bingo night at town center and he chats with Nana whenever she shows up!
I like the idea that he is so lonely, he's been alive for so long and he only really has Archie for companionship (and Zoe but I tend to headcannon that they don't spend all their time together and they tend to actually drift in and out of each others lives). But he also knows that actually getting attached and making genuine friendships mortals isnt the best idea, so he tends to just be surface level friendly with everyone he meets. Just friendly enough to make an impression like aw he was such a sweet boy type of impression but nothing more deep than that.
I really like thinking about what Douxie's life was like before the wizards series and I could talk SO MUCH about him but I dont want this post to end up too long lol

Tumblr media
Thanks so much for your submissions! I've really been enjoying putting these together. Here are this week's recs. (Titles are links to each fic.)
Attorney-Client Privilege by caciopepebowl
"Attorney-Client Privilege is my one obsession right now. I’m not usually big on slow burns but this is *chef’s kiss.* Everything is so well written. Kate is an ass kicking attorney and Anthony is an emotionally constipated CEO. It is the absolute best story that I am reading right now."
Description: Anthony Bridgerton is reeling from a series of personal and professional missteps when his family hires Kate Sharma to serve as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of the Bridgerton family office. Anthony views Kate as living proof that his family no longer trusts him or his judgment. Kate thinks Anthony is the most arrogant, unlikeable man she has ever met. When they actually start working together, they both quickly realize that the truth—like their feelings for one another—is far more complicated.

If you don’t like what I post, filter tags and block me. I’m not gonna argue with anyone.
Tumblr media
At least Violet is hiding his reaction somewhat well, the rest just want to be arrested ig. pendejos
Tumblr media
Why does Arden have some cheap-looking rinnegans?
"Mom, can I get the rinnegan"
"We have the rinnegan at home" The rinnegan at home^
Also, does Cheslock not think that the P4's reaction is weird? Are they always weird? Maybe. Then what about Arden? Is he acting like he's hypnotized not weird? Maybe it's also not weird, they live in a world with Reapers and Demons ig. Maybe all young lads act like they're hypnotized and love the smell of tea.
Tumblr media
They're gonna kiss 😍💕
Tumblr media
Welp, there goes his career in whatever sport he plays.
Tumblr media
I want to hire Sebastian to perform magic tricks (like this one) at my birthday party in August
Tumblr media
He's the magician Undertaker hired to entertain you guys. He just forgot his uniform
Tumblr media
The Queen should give Ciel a police badge or smth so he can show people. Because if a thirteen-year-old just randomly told me he's a detective, I'd pat him on the head and mentally coo at the baby.
Tumblr media
One, Midford is right, don't fuck with Ciel. Two, what's with that lackluster reaction? Clayton, a dude is a zombie and a baby is pointing a gun at a bitch, shut up unless you want that gun pointed at you.
Tumblr media
Maybe I'm wrong, but you guys go to a pretty religious school and I'm pretty sure god said not to kill. The bitch could've been kicking puppies and stealing kid's ice cream and you still shouldn't kill him. Beating him up on the other hand...
Tumblr media
They jumped him??? I thought one of them killed him and called the rest to help hide the body.
Tumblr media
Baby, he'll go to court and the lawyers with the wig will be there then he'll go to jail. You might go to jail for helping him hide the body. How will you guys get the blood off the carpet??
Tumblr media
Is this the same Dr from BOA? Did Undertaker rescue him?? I only remember Undertaker fleeing and panicking that Ciel had his locked chain.
Everyone's reactions to Undertaker are so over the top. The only Understandable ones are Midford's and Ciel's. I know the rest of them had never ever heard the headmaster speak. They're acting more shocked at the Headmaster saying that watching them was fun than the literal zombie.
Tumblr media
It's bullshit that that hat hid his hair. No hair tie? No bobby pins? I put my hair in a bun and it'll last me an afternoon at best unless I make it tight enough it'll give me a headache. This is bullshit. I find it easier to believe that Charles laid an egg and that the hen came out of it.
Tumblr media
I miss my girls. I miss Madam Red. I miss Grelle. This season has too many boys.
Tumblr media
Why- why is he drooling while holding Ciel?
Tumblr media
He's so touchy with Ciel. I'm surprised Sebastian hasn't pushed him off.
This episode got the Naruto treatment. So many flashbacks I thought I'd see that damned swing.
Tumblr media
Back then you probably just needed to forge some documents to get a job. It's not like a good chunk of the population could read/write plus it's not like they're gonna email the school or call your last job.
Tumblr media
Yet you guys are allowed to step on the grass. And be at the Swan Gazebo.
Tumblr media
Oh, so he was a snitch? Murder is understandable
Tumblr media
What's with the Red House and shitty prefect's drudges? Like, this has to be more than just a coincidence at this point. It's probably the environment that breeds these fuckers

Happy birthday! Can we get some birthday trivia about you on your birthday?
Sure. I turn 56 today, so here’s fifty-six things you may or may not know about me.
1) I never lost a baby tooth. Every one had to be extracted.
2) I was once a contestant on Trivial Pursuit: The Game Show with Wink Martindale. I answered the most questions correct, but didn’t win.
3) I once had scarlet fever (the thing the boy gets in the Velveteen Rabbit).
4) I’ve been told by doctors I have very weird blood.
5) I self taught myself to juggle.
6) I was a magician when I was a kid with the stage name The Wiz Kid. I mostly performed for kids parties.
7) I was once a freelance greeting card writer. My favorite (that didn’t get printed) showed a jug of maple syrup tipped on its side making a puddle of syrup. In the syrup was a top hat. A hand is pulling a can of green paint with a shamrock out of the hat. You open up the card and it says Sappy Paint Hat Tricks Day. It’s a triple Spoonerism.
8) Sara Gilbert (of “Roseanne” fame) and I once went out for lunch. (It wasn’t a date or anything.)
9) I broke my collarbone doing a prat fall off a stage.
10) I once pet a cheetah. In South Africa. My face from the picture of me doing that was used as my “Making Magic” photo for years.
11) I once made a root beer float for Keanu Reeves. It was at a play I was volunteering for.
12) I once get trapped inside Fred Astaire’s Estate. This factoid is oddly on my Wikipedia page.
13) Starting during the pandemic, my family began fostering animals. So far, we fostered four dogs, six cats, and two Guinea pigs.
14) In college, I wrote and directed two plays, started an improvisation troupe, and a writing workshop.
15) I still have all my wisdom teeth.
16) I have visited every continent except Antarctica for Magic.
17) I once asked Clint Eastwood for directions, not realizing who it was until he started talking. I was lost on the Warner Brothers lot.
18) My first job in Hollywood resulted from me taking part in someone else’s interview. I snuck on the lot, and ended walking into a room where they asked “Are you here for the production assistant interview?”, and I said, “Yes.”
19) I once had a disease the doctors couldn’t identify. They called it Mark’s Disease.
20) I was born in Mississippi. My dad was in the Air Force at the time.
21) I asked out seven woman to my senior prom who all turned me down. I ended up going with a friend who also couldn’t get a date.
22) I took six years of Spanish.
23) Most of my family’s vacations growing up were ski vacations, so I’m a decent skier.
24) I once delivered a pizza to Richard Gere. It was as a production assistant, not a pizza delivery person.
25) I once broke into an actor’s apartment building to deliver a script. It was so late, they were asleep and didn’t hear the buzzing of the door bell.
26) I once drove six hours (three in each direction) to pick up one five-stick package of Blackjack gum as a runner (production assistant).
27) Dennis Miller once thought I was a crazy man. I was sent to get him from the parking lot for a shoot and he thought I was stalking him.
28) I have over two hundred tee-shirts. They are organized by color.
29) I was supposed to pitch to “The Simpsons”, but it got cancelled when I got hired in the “Roseanne” staff.
30) I pitched multiple times to “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, but never sold a script. The closest I got was a pitch about Data malfunctioning.
31) I once ate crocodile. In Australia.
32) I played the Tinman in fifth grade in a production of “The Wizard of the Oz”. I was so hot, my silver make-up had to be reapplied halfway through as I sweated it off.
33) My mother turned down being on “Oprah” to come to my college graduation.
34) My parents are both retired. My dad was a dentist and my mom a psychologist. I used to joke I had a “paradox”.
35) Every birthday since I was 9, I’ve celebrated my birthday with crab legs.
36) Since I was in grade school, every Valentine’s Day, I hand out candy hearts, and every Halloween, I hand out mellowcreme pumpkins (basically pumpkin shaped candy corns).
37) My tee-shirts every week are themed. Some themes are pretty obvious, but they often get tricky. R&D likes figuring out the theme.
38) I got a BS in Communications (no, really) from Boston University’s College of Communications.
39) I collect superhero Minimates (they look Lego-ish). I have somewhere around two thousand. They are displayed in a number of cabinets built by my dad.
40) My podcast was inspired by a talk by Kevin Smith (at San Diego Comic-Con) where he said anyone could make a podcast.
41) I have attended over twenty-five San Diego Comic-Cons.
42) I am related to Lorne Green of “Bonanza” fame.
43) My dad’s family came from Germany and my mom’s from Russia. In Germany, my family’s name was Rosenvasser, but it was changed to Rosewater when they came to the U.S.
44) There are so few Rosewaters in the United States, that if you meet a Rosewater odds are I’m related to them.
45) I have lived in five states (Mississippi, Ohio, Massachusetts, California, and Washington, in that order).
46) I have visited over thirty states for Magic.
47) I once met Jim Henson when I worked on a clip show that Kermit was on. The question I asked him was if Ernie and Bert were named after the characters from “It’s a Wonderful Life”. He said not consciously. Jim Henson is one of my idols and I feel so blessed to have met him. He died a few months later.
48) I met Stan Lee at Hascon. He is another of my idols that I feel so lucky to have met.
49) On “Roseanne”, I worked with Amy Sherman-Palladino (just Amy Sherman back then) and Chuck Lorre. She made “Gilmore Girls” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”. He made “Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men”. Amy was super sweet and we got along well. I don’t think Chuck liked me.
50) I am a super picky eater. For example, except for apples, I don’t eat fruit. I hate bananas with a passion.
51) I have been a game player since very young. My dad loves games and introduced them to me early in life.
52) I get the writing bug from my mom.
53) I used to collect lint in a giant jar. When I got married, Lora made me get rid of it. It was an impressive amount of lint.
54) I have a bad tendency to burn myself a lot. My family loves to make fun of it.
55) I own over fifty flannels. My favorites are from Japan because they are more colorful with their flannels. Normally I wear a large, but in Japanese sizes, I’m an extra large.
56) My favorite number is 254. I chose it when I was little.

Hypothetically speaking of all the dark men you have written, who would you invite to your birthday party?😉😉
Realistically none bahahah bc we know.
But Thor is great at parties. Ransom could stir good drama. Sam is funny and could keep people laughing. I would hire Loki as a magician to insult him.

It’s such a small detail but I can’t wrap my head around the fortune teller at the bar mitzvah thing. I don’t even know if it’s something that would explicitly be disallowed so much as it’s simply something that would never happen? If it was family, a close friend, Billy himself, maybe, but hiring a fortune teller for a bar mitzvah feels like the equivalent of getting someone there to make balloon animals or something. I feel like that perhaps more than anything else is them going, “what’s a bar mitzvah? Just a birthday bash with some Jewish flavoring, right? More ‘sweet sixteen’ than sacred ceremony, I’m sure?”
I know professional Romani fortune tellers who have worked bar mitzvahs. In general, people hire fortune tellers as, like, entertainment for events more often than you might think. I can't say how often it happens at mitzvahs, specifically, but, yeah, it's not unheard of.
Also, in America, big parties like this are pretty common? Yes, there is a ceremony, but a lot of families do host celebrations similar to a sweet sixteen. The idea of having hired entertainers is not suprising to me at all.
I noticed that, even before becoming "Billy," "William" seemed to have an interest in magic. There are posters of both stage magicians and fantasy films in his room, although I think you're supposed to interpret this as more of a benign nerd thing, rather than an overt interest in witchcraft. That comes later. At the beginning of the episode, you can see invitations to "the magick mitzvah of Wiliam Kaplan," so I assumed that the party had, like, a theme? Culturally speaking, I can see how maybe an occult themed bar mitzvah would be weird, but in general, a tarot reader in a tacky, faux-gypsy costume does not feel out of place at a spooky or magical-themed event.

When Adam Parrish reveals he knows sleight of hand at a company team building event, he doesn't realize how big of a mistake he's made until one of his colleagues corners him a few days later in the office kitchen. The entertainment Declan Lynch hired for his daughter's birthday party bailed, and Declan has ideas about who can fill that void: Adam. Adam agrees — simply because Declan offers him the easiest $500 Adam will ever earn — though Adam's not happy about it. It's only when he arrives at the party that he realizes he might be able to perform some actual magic. With Declan's younger brother, Ronan.
The Magician Entertainment is a 5.7k G-rated meet-cute where Adam Parrish makes the best of a bad situation and has a wonderful time antagonizing his future brother-in-law.
