No one ever talks enough about Niibashi. That guy is a national treasure, not just because he listens without judgment to everything Kagiura tells him, but also because he genuinely cares about his friend's happiness, offering advice and support. And it might or might not be more than a feel of friendship for Kagiura, but he sincerely cares about him anyway.

I can never forget the button scene, when he gives Hirano the sewing kit to fix Kagiura's button, saying: "Hey, 'HIRANO-SAN' [...] you can borrow my sewing set, so fix his button." That "HIRANO-SAN" in quotation marks and the embarrassed, annoyed face, of someone thinking 'So this is the stupid sempai who always confuses Kagiura? I can't believe him, why he is so close? Good grief, this scene is so awkward... GO GET A ROOM YOU TWO DAMMIT!'

But genuinely analysis now,

I only have my experience to reference, (and some posts online) but I can genuinely go on about how everything Hirano does absolutely lacks desire and attraction!

People who joke about romance and attraction come from a point of understanding what it means, and for people who don't, those jokes, nods, hints, are all neon lights pointing to something non existent. Or, if it does exist, fogged and shadowed by everything else.

Hirano doesn't get it. He's not naive or repressing, he doesn't overcompensate to an insecurity, he genuinely doesn't understand what any of this means. He's grateful to Kagi for allowing this relationship to be experimental, to be able to take a step back when things get too confusing, and more than anything, he appreciates this honesty that motivates him to be honest to.

People who "get it" talk in riddles, like they're all in on a secret and you can only sit and watch while they casually bring it up. It's normal for them. More than that, it's natural for them.

It doesn't come naturally to Hirano. In some ways, it's wasn't natural to Kagi either, who put romantic relationships on such a pedals that something as gravitating as a mutual attraction wasn't even cross his mind until Niibashi. Without him, how long would it have taken Kagi to actively reach that conclusion?

Romance is highly romanticise, and because it feels nice to be special, people don't question it. But you can be special without the romance. People can mean the world to you without needing some "other" and "more" of a reason.

I don't hold out hope that the manga will end with that conclusion, but the journey Hirano is going through means a lot to me. And I'll continue being a little aromantic pain who can't let people have their fluff for my own self indulgence! /j and hopefully others will feel that too, because it's always nice to be understood.

Hrkg Chapter 25 spoilers

Thinking about Hirano looking for "normal" in Google. Because... We know he isn't stupid. The guys around the table even joke around that while he may not think about kissing he does like studying and... The whole scene reminded me too much of this one Given scene:

For context, Ue (black hair guy) asks this after his bandmate (Akihiko) tells him that everyone can notice how in love he is just by looking at his face.

This scene has always broke me. Ue is just a highschool guy. Just your average highschool guy (not really, he's a music prodigy but that's beside the point). And suddenly he has this whirlpool of feelings towars his male friend.

Look at his despair. He's screaming this. At least the first part, the actual word "weird" is said after many pauses. I've always imagine he ends up saying it in the fastest most incoherent way possible. In the way you say stuff you don't really wanna deal with. He's sweating, he has lost his words and confidence. Is he weird? Is liking his male friend something he's not allowed to do?

I often wonder what would have happened if someone confirmed his worries. Because clearly, if he's asking it is because he has previously thought about it. About all he is feeling and how it may look for an outsider.

Thankfully, no one does. He gets no confirmation on being weird. He just gets support.

And I want you guys to know that this is not any support. This is support from a bandmate, an older person and most importantly, the guy he admires the most in the world. Ue's worries are met with nothing but understanding. Akihiko even comes out to him at that moment. Surely, being queer can't be something that bad if the person Ue admires so much has always been like that all this time. And even if he was, his bandmates, the people he is closer to, wouldn't judge him for that.

Now, going back to chapter 25...

I wonder if Hirano will have any kind of support.

I wonder if there will be someone to tell him that he is normal and maybe normal isn't even a concept you should wish to embody.

This probably won't have terrible consequences since it's Harusono we are talking about but the whole wondering of whats normal and, even worse, the stress(? of knowing that entering a relationship might mean kissing and other stuff you are not really excited for or maybe even never thought about was such accurate representation of common queer and specifically asexual struggles that it broke me down a bit

Very minor detail in chap 25 is that Kagi sleep talks do with that as you must

I'm really excited to see the context of this glorious picture of heavily blushing Hirano. It's so thrilling because the video hinted he and Kagiura will have a moment of them looking at each other while blushing and this is huge. After all, the only time Hirano blushed like this was back in chapter 9 when Kagiura confessed his feelings directly to Hirano. Every other time after, he either has a small blush while Kagiura is around, or a heavy blush after Kagiura is gone and can't see it. So, you have to wonder what happened to cause him to look so vulnerable. Our blonde sweetie has realized something big, mark my words.

I'm really hoping this is a clue that chapter 24 will be a big step in their relationship because we see the ball game here, as well as a clear impact that the game and all the time they spent practicing will have on them and we see that Kagiura will have some thoughts during and after the game, so I'm hoping this will help them progress.

Chapter 24 is shaping up to be a wonderful addition and I really hope the English translation comes out this week. I had previously predicted that they would get together before chapter 30, and I am standing by that for now. The ball game is over, so next will be the White Day hopefully, and I'm hoping those little hints of moments we see of the Kagihira-looking characters that were in Miyano's BL manga were foreshadows of things that will happen in the official Hirano and Kagiura manga.

what did they put in these i can't get enough

I'm really confused about the timeline between Sasaki to Miyano and Hirano to Kagiura. Having the attention span and memory of a goldfish, I can't connect the timeframes in which things happen, especially I'm confused about some aspects. Please help me (SPOILERS ⬇⬇⬇):

Sasaki to Miyano, ch 12.something: New Year. Miyano to Hirano: "You didn't come with your roommate? That's unfortunate..." Hirano: "He caught a cold...". But in ch. 6 of Hirano to Kagiura Hirano and Kagiura go to Hatsumoude together...? And presumably this happens in the same year, right? Am I missing something? Confused, confused, confused, I'm so confused!

Hirano to Kagiura, ch 9: Kagiura confesses to Hirano after New Year, and before Valentine's Day, so between January and early February. Sasaki to Miyano, ch 13: Sasaki confesses to Myano during the sports festival (I don't know in which month) but I didn't understand if it's the same festival as chapter 24 of Hirano to Kagiura. And here there's more confusion. In Sasaki to Miyano Sasaki says he participated in Ball toss, while Hirano is in the cheer squad, but in Hirano to Kagiura (ch 24) Sasaki and Hirano are on the same basketball team. Does everything happen in the same festival but on different days?

The only thing I think I understood now, is the dialogue between Hirano and Sasaki at the end of ch 15 of Sasaki to Miyano, where Hirano says "Discussing your love life is giving me chills" and Sasaki replies "I could say the same for you". My guess is that Hirano hasn't talked to Sasaki about his situation with Kagiura, but he has sensed Hirano's feelings for roommate-kun, even if they haven't talked about it openly.

Please, can someone enlighten me? 😭

If I had a nickel for everytime Kagi has gotten jealous of someone that doesn't specially care about Hirano and, more important even, someone Hirano doesn't particularly care for

So, while the English translation for Hirano and Kagiura Chapter 24 isn't out yet, a kind soul has been posting this site on Twitter to at least see what is going on in the chapter. I am also including the website for those who want to check it out themselves, but I managed to screenshot some of the chapter for those who are desperate for some news like I was. And if some kind soul wants to translate the pages for those of us waiting for the English version... well, you'd be a hero to many.

SASAHIRA. kagi jealous of sasahira and the Look. niibashi feeling awkward this entire interaction (i would too). sasaki connecting the dots. hirano hesitation before we aren't close. hirano looking for kagi before smiling brightly at him (reverse of beginning of ch 1) (also sasaki's face jshdjs). hirano i was wondering if you were gonna do your 10 seconds of touching me for today taiga. ichinose!! moe sode yashiro. and HANZAWA MASATO my guy aaaaaaaa. so much about that. his face. yashiro's reaction. ichinose's harried explanation trying his best. amazing chapter all around i have to say
