Some angst for the Survivors Killing Game AU.
In the Survivors Killing Game AU, I'm going to say Hina dies. Because that would be devastating (and also because if I let every single brown girl live in all of my AUs, people are going to start to suspect I have a bias toward them, which of course I do).
But most of all, because of the drama potential.
Like, everyone would be sad, because Hina is a really positive person who they like having around. (With his characterization reset by memory erasure, Byakuya pretends not to be bummed out, but he is.) Shuichi got pretty close to Hina, after Hajime suggested he hang out with her and Akane, so he feels both sad to lose a friend and kind of guilty that he wasn't with her. (The main thing keeping him from feeling very guilty is the fact that he only wasn't with Hina at the time because he was with Akane. More on that later!!)
No one is as devastated by the loss as Makoto is. She was one of his closest remaining friends, and she died not remembering a major part of her life, like so many of his other friends. The 78th class have so few left, and they had to lose more. And he knows his friends don't feel the loss now in the way they will later, and that's just more miserable, that promise of grief in the future. He knows what it's like, to suddenly feel the grief deepen as the memories return.
Makoto checks out hard. Not quite like Taka, but it's still pretty bad. He has this dull, shell-shocked expression, and he does not have his usual energy in that whole trial. He still points out contradictions, but instead of a high "No, that's wrong!" it's a low, "That's not true." The energy is not one of powering through the grief by the sheer strength of his convictions, but more of a "Hope keeps on going. And going, and going, and going. And it can't afford to stop." Himiko and Fuyuhiko are really worried about him (and express it in their various ways), but he reacts with a kind of detached confusion, like "Why would anyone worry about me, when Hina's dead?"
(Extra suffering if one of his friends (maybe Syo) was the killer.)
By this point in the story, Naehinahara have been sharing a lot of time and have dabbled in bed-sharing, but after this case, suddenly Hajime is keeping his distance. He sends other people to keep Makoto company.
And Shuichi eventually confronts him about why this is, recalling, "The night that Hina died...you told me to go check on Akane."
Hajime says nothing. His back is turned to Shuichi as he attends to some task. Maybe laundry. But he paused to listen, so he isn't moving.
"You were checking up on Nevermind, and you told me to go spend some time with Akane. The killer was looking for people who were by themselves, so my being with her at that time...it probably saved her life."
Hajime continues to say nothing.
"You had to make a choice, right? It makes sense if you chose your own friend."
"It wasn't just Akane or Asahina," Hajime says quietly. "There are so many people to keep straight, and...it was going to happen. I had to...prioritize. I had to think about how everyone would react to any given death. Maybe someone like Asahina will make them pause for longer. Maybe seeing how her death devastated him will mean they won't suspect Makoto next time. If there is a next time. And...yes, I...had to prevent it from happening to any of my friends. I couldn't...allow it, to be one of mine."
Shuichi understands that much easily. Deciding internally which people one can and can't afford to lose comes with the territory of being in a killing game, as awful as it feels. "You think Makoto wouldn't understand that?"
"Would you, if it were Yumeno?"
Don't say that, please don't. "...He's not me."
"Even if he can forgive it, he shouldn't have to. I won't put the weight of my choice on him right now, and I also won't allow myself to benefit from him not knowing. Don't discuss this with him. Okay?"
And the dread that has been tightening Shuichi's chest throughout the conversation now puts a lump in his throat. Hajime will keep his friends alive. Shuichi and Makoto have very little power to do the same. Will it be Himiko next?
Hajime finally turns toward him. He seems to know exactly what Shuichi is thinking. He looks tired and makes no defense for himself. "Be with him for me, please. The others can't understand what he's going through."
He was planning on returning to Makoto after this anyway, but...That sounds a little too similar to his suggestion that he spend time with Akane that night. "Will something happen?" he has to ask.
"Not tonight. Everyone is tired."
"Would you tell me if something was going to happen?"
Hajime takes a few steps closer. He strokes Shuichi's bangs out of his eyes and momentarily rests his head against his. "I don't know," he answers quietly.
Then he withdraws and walks away.

//And Sara Chidouin from Your Turn To Die takes the win as Kaede Akamatsu's opponent, with 34.9% of the vote.
//This one was fucking CLOSE! According to our math, she won this poll by 1 VOTE! Better luck next time Kotone.
//Now for our 10th match...allow me to throw you a curveball~
//Reasoning Below:
Pop Fizz - Pop Fizz is an alchemist and while Seiko technically isn't one, she might as well be. Their concoctions can often times be ridiculous, giving people strange powers or having interesting effects on their body, most notably drinking their main concoction allows both of them to turn into powerful monsters with insane strength and capabilities.
Lizard - Both in their natural state are timid scientists who create strange concoctions; with the intention of helping people around them. In one way or another, both are impaired (Seiko was born with an illness that required her to take regular doses of medicine to stay alive and prevented her from eating food with high sugar levels, and Connors is an amputee who lost his arm while working as a combat medic) and both work as important scientists for a well-known, well-established organization (Future Foundation for Seiko and either S.H.I.E.L.D or Oscorp for Connors depending on the iteration) Due to the power of their unique medicine, both of them can turn into powerful, destructive monsters that can tear apart anything in their path.
Takemi - Takemi in ScruffyTurtles Adult Confidant AU, AKA Doc, shares the same backstory as her main-game counterpart, which is similar to Seiko's. Both were born with a weak physical complexion that required them to receive constant medical care as a child, and as a result became prodigy’s in medicinal practices (Seiko became the Ultimate Pharmacist and Takemi became a well-respected junior Doctor by the time she was in college). Both of them also had a close relationship with someone who seemed to look after them, only for their relationship to become strained as a result of that persons actions in manipulating them (Seiko was Ruruka Ando's best friend, but was constantly used by her and constantly gaslit and guilt-tripped into doing what she wanted, and Takemi was a student of Hinaharu Sakimaru, who acting like a motherly figure to her while secretly dragging her into her organ trafficking schemes). After reaching their breaking point, both unlocked their unique powers through external means and fought against that person (Seiko became a monster with her medicine and tried to hunt Ruruka in the Final Killing Game, and Takemi awakened to her Persona, Metradora, after confronting Hinahara’s Shadow.)
Moira - Both characters are scientists who dabble in what many can consider to be inhumane and illegal experiments, and typically use human test-subjects for said practices (Seiko creates strange medicines with weird effects, like increasing someone's strength to it's max or making people hot and horny, and in Danganronpa 3, she usually gives these concoctions to Teruteru to use in his cooking, which leads Class 77 to unknowingly and unwillingly become her Guinea Pigs; and Moira frequently uses animals and humans for her bio-engineering experiments with varying results, including Gabriel Reyes, who due to her experiments would eventually become Reaper) Due to some unfortunate events, they were kicked out of their residence of work (Seiko is expelled from Hope's Peak and Moira was blacklisted by Overwatch) but eventually went on to join an equally powerful organization who put their skills to good use; albeit on different sides (Seiko joins the heroic Future Foundation and becomes the Head of Branch 4, while Moira joins the villainous Talon and becomes their lead scientist)
Coyle - Both are scientists who experiment with medicine and/or tech designed to make them stronger, typically by using the people around them as test subjects against their will and knowledge (As mentioned, Seiko used other students at Hope's Peak, specifically Class 77, as a means of testing her medicine, and Dr Coyle observed and collected data from the other ARMS fighters) and in the end, both ended up subjecting themselves to their own experiments in order to achieve their own ends and assure their survival (Seiko took her own Doping Corn Soup to become a monster during the Final Killing Game, and Coyle allowed Hedlok, a menacing masked robot that attaches itself to other fighters, to take over her own body for a boost of power and strength). Both also had a very tight relationship at one point with another character in their series, but had a falling out down the line and became worst enemies as a result (Ruruka Ando and Max Brass respectively).

Just curious. What are your thoughts on Naehara and (whatever the ship for Hajime and Shuichi is)?
EJFJEJF do you believe me when I say that I usedto ship the three of them as a poly ship back then? Ahh good ol' times. I think they're very neat! Naegi is just shippable to anyone at this point by how much of a walking green flag this guy is, his energy and Saihara's gloomy is literally the definition of sun and moon dynamic.
As for Hinahara (pretty sure it was called) Hajime is the definition of an overly insecure guy with a strong stand. I can imagine him smacking the back of Shuichi's head for being all sad and keep his head up through hard times (same like Makoto as well, aside from the smack on the head part-)
Imagine them as poly. Yeah that. Overall I think they're very sweet. But today? I'm very neutral about it
#lunar ask yippe#ty for asking <3#this ship was interesting#I look at ships through dynamics more than how much screentime they have#with eachother

Look I finally made it lets fucking gooooooo
So uhh I decided to make two because why the hell not
And this is my completely comfort ship of mine and sorry for posting alot of these
And I'm not really headcannon them as uhhh what you call it some overly manly guy with overly sensitive man yaoi-type-of- thing, yeah I they're kinda manly man and sensitive guy trope I guess but they're more than just that-- and I also headcannon them as some slow burn type of thing, or maybe friends to lovers
And of course this is a non despair au, because ya know--

What's your take on polytagonist/naehinahara? I just feel like they'd be really cute 'cause they're unconfident boys who would definitely support and be there for each other <3
Also just the thought of them tag teaming in each class trial is really appealing to me............ but how would that even work? maybe in an au where Monokuma gathers all the past killing game survivors for one last killing game? but ough that's just so tragic............ but at the same time can you imagine them taking turns in pairing up together?? investigating together?? 🥹
First of all, of course I love them as a ship! I already like Hinaegi and Naehara separately, and Hinahara would also be a fun combination, with Hajime's steady abrasiveness and Shuichi's more precise, infrequent abrasiveness in-between bouts of malleability.
As for that specific scenario:
Oh my gosh, first of all, I'm going to say for this AU that despite the 77th class all having been brought back after SDR2, only the survivors of that game are in this new killing game. For V3 I'm going to say that was also a simulation, specifically so Kaito and Kokichi can get pulled in on some technicality about their case being inconclusive.
Now, you may look at this as me very specifically targeting the trauma of the THH cast, since they're the only ones whose entire friend group is in the killing game.
Anyway, I'm also going to say everyone's memory is erased except the protags, because whoever set this up is doing it as a specific torture of them. This means we have pre-character development Maki, Fuyuhiko, Byakuya, etc. in play, and if the protagonists try to impress upon them that they're already friends, they just get extremely suspicious and defensive.
Naturally, this means the protagonists all huddle up together right away.
"Alright, who's doing this one?" Makoto wonders.
"I don't know," Hajime says.
"You don't know?" Shuichi repeats in dismay. "You're from the Future Foundation and you're from Ultimate Despair. I thought one of you would have some idea."
"Whoever it is, we're not in a simulation right now," Hajime says.
"You're sure?" Makoto says.
"Positive."
"That's...worse, but...we know our friends. Whoever let us keep our memories did it to hurt us, but we know our friends."
(Hajime levels a sympathetic look on Makoto.)
"Knowing someone doesn't help you stop them from killing, if they feel they have a reason," Shuichi says quietly, thinking of Maki. "And the mastermind is in charge of giving people reasons."
"I probably could have re-befriended my friends the slow way, if I'd caught on faster that they didn't remember me," Makoto sighs. "Now, I weirded them out, and it'll be a lot harder."
"That's okay. You can actually branch out," Hajime suggests. "You should talk to Fuyuhiko and...Yumeno. Those are good matches for you. Once you've gotten to know them, I think Hagakure is also still an option; he's more interested in your seemingly supernatural insights than anything, though aligning yourself with him might not legitimize you in the eyes of Kirigiri, Togami, or Fukawa. I can reason with those three. Shuichi should spend time with Akane and Asahina."
"Then, what about Sonia, Kaito, Maki, Kazuichi, and Kokichi?" Makoto asks.
"Focus on your two for now, okay?"
It is a good idea, and they do mesh well with those groupings, but of course things don't go entirely to plan.
And of course, whenever something terrible happens, they retreat to each other's arms. They're all protective of each other, and they're all protective of their own friends, and the potential for hurt/comfort is matched only by the potential for messiness when some of them have to prioritize who they most want to protect.
Hajime's many talents are, of course, an asset, but if he knows multiple people are in danger at once and he can't save all of them, he's prioritizing his friends (which include Makoto and Shuichi) over their friends and might even have to do a trolley-problem-style switcheroo where Toko dies in Sonia's stead or something of the sort. He wasn't the one to kill her, but he decided who he was more willing to lose.
Shuichi would be willing to lie in the trials, and Kokichi would notice, and Kyoko would probably also notice. Hajime would back up Shuichi's lies when he knows he can get away with it and contradict them when he knows he can't. Makoto would not lie because he finds it really important that everyone is able to trust each other.
Kaito might punch Fuyuhiko in the face at some point. That would go really poorly. Or maybe he tries to punch Fuyuhiko in the face but Makoto's in the way and gets punched instead, solidifying Fuyuhiko's bond with Makoto because now he's got to teach this guy a lesson for effing with both of them! (Kaito is sorry, but like...not sorry enough?)
And Makoto (who passes out on impact, btw; his character development didn't involve not passing out when he gets punched in the face) is just like "No, you don't have to do anything to Kaito!" while Fuyuhiko is all "Sit down and let me handle this."
Makoto realizes, over the course of calming his friend down, that Hajime set both him and Shuichi up with people who could and would protect them from physical threats. He always thought of it as Hajime trusting him to keep Fuyuhiko out of trouble and trusting Shuichi to keep Akane out of trouble, but in a way, he's also trusting his friends to keep Makoto and Shuichi safe.
The day Maki dies or gets executed (I'm sorry, there's no way she sruvives this one.), Shuichi sleeps in Makoto's bed, crying into his chest. Hajime intuits where they both are and brings them food. He wants to curl up on Makoto's other side, but he has to keep watch over the school. There are too many people they can't afford to lose.
(A version of this same AU where it is a simulation is also on the table. In that case, Hajime wouldn't have any Kamukura Project stuff in his head and also motives like Despair Disease could happen.)

for @lonely-lgbt-writer
hinahara headcanons
for their first date, they went somewhere small but fun
probably a cafe or something
more specifically, a cat cafe.
hang out with your boyfriend and pet some kitties? heck yeah!!
shuichi would have one of the cats very interested in his hat, and another passed out on his lap as soon as he sat down. he's been trapped in kitty prison. there is no escaping.
hajime simply ate his food and laughed at his cat whisperer of a bf until one decided to run off with his shoelace
cue a half annoyed, half laughing hajime
overall a cute date, and actually attracted a lot of attention due to hajime scolding the kitty
probably said something like "no, that is not your shoelace, that is my shoelace. if you had asked politely, you might have gotten to play with it."
shuichi was losing his shit the entire time
when they were walking home, hajime grabbed shuichi's hand and pulled him into a kiss. nothing special, but you know who we're talking about here.
shuichi was very blushy blushy, and probably squeaked or something
