when you first found yourself in borderland, you weren’t sure what to do

one minute you had been exploring a shopping center, wandering into an empty aisle of your favorite shop

but when you came out on the other end, it was as though everyone else in tokyo had disappeared 

it didn’t take long for you to enter your first game, two of hearts, which you thankfully cleared

and so, playing the games (and clearing them) in order to survive this dangerous, unknown world became your new purpose

until you met kuina, that is 

she became your partner in a clubs game and the two of you never separated after that 

and spending so much time together meant that you couldn’t stop yourself from developing certain feelings for kuina 

she became the only person you could truly trust 

the only one you could confide in 

the only one you wanted to touch 

the first time she held your hand sent butterflies fluttering throughout your stomach 

and, being the brave soul that she is, kuina didn’t take very long to confess her feelings for you 

the two of you were as happy as you could be in your situation

but being together often made certain things worth it all 

and yet, both of you agreed that something seemed to be missing from your relationship 

the beach welcomed that something into your life 

some aspect of you intrigued chishiya, though he wasn’t entirely sure why

he quickly became somewhat of an ally to you and kuina

(before it turned into something more, of course)

you couldn’t remember whose idea it was to have a three-lovers relationship, but you supposed it didn’t matter in the long run 

chishiya was much more reserved than kuina

and the way he looked at you was very calculated

almost as though he knew what your potential in this world was before you could even recognize it yourself

he had plans for you 

kuina is much more affectionate than chishiya

she’ll hold your hand while chishiya offers only his close presence, ready to defend if either of you need him 

don’t get him wrong though!! he loves you very much!! 

he just isn’t a person who expresses such things physically 

if you need emotional support, kuina is your girl

Niragi: “Do you want to die?!”

Hatter: *laughing his ass off*

How they react when they make you laugh for the first time since arriving in Borderland.

Chishiya, Ann, Kuina and Niragi.

Chishiya

Chishiya would be puzzled. Hearing your laugh ring through the Beach’s hallway from beside him when hardly much had happened-- What suddenly brought that out of you? You, who hadn’t so much as smirked once since arriving in the Borderlands?

He wouldn’t stop walking until you’d finally keeled over, resting against the wall in your laughter, and he’d simply stand there and watch you, tempted to give into the smirk that pulls at the corner of his lips. Ah yes, that laugh is contagious, but it’d only properly catch on when he realises it’s his own words that brought it out of you.

Gasping words out through your bursts of laughter, not paying half a mind to the bikini-clad girls that spared you judgemental glances as you try to communicate what exactly of Chishiya’s words tickled you so-- But it’d barely come out clear enough to make sense.

But it wouldn’t matter. He’d finally give into the tickle inside his own chest, the softest laugh of humour bubbling out as he stands there, hands in his pockets and tender eyes on your giggling form. It’s the first time since arriving that he’s seen you like this, and what a sight to behold.

Ann

Ann isn’t phased by much, but your sudden laughter gracing her ears would startle her. She’d jump, hair swishing out of that perfect positioning when she turns to look at you. She’d think there’s something wrong at first, scan the area to see what might’ve possibly brought you to this, wonder if perhaps Borderland has finally taken its toll on you. She’s heard plenty of stories of psychosis manifesting in laughter from her work life, but this… Doesn’t seem to be the case.

She’d ask what was up, ask if you’re feeling okay, hold your face still to feel your forehead for a temperature. This, however, would only bring out more bubbling laughter as you tuck her hair behind her ear again, back where it belongs.

“You’re so funny, Ann,” you’d say, “And you don’t even realise.”

She’d blink. No, she’s never been considered the funny type.

It’s not until you describe to her that it’s purely because she’s so serious, so endearing, that you couldn’t help yourself. Perhaps things really were catching up to you, and you finally let up on all the pressures from the games. Hell, you were gonna die anyway. Why not share laughter when your love is this morbidly endearing in her antics?

Kuina

Kuina would have missed your laughter. She’d struggle with your newly introverted self, noticing how all the games have worn you down in the weeks of being here, and it’s not until one time that you get a little bit too drunk a little bit too quickly in the Beach’s nightclub that you’d finally be able to spill your sense of humour all over her again.

It would be the silliest of things; Kuina’s reaction to a guy hitting on her or an animated fall on the dancefloor that you’d just so happened to witness, but it would shock your body with waves and waves of giggles.

Kuina’s reaction would be instant. Her face would light up, teeth showing and eyes shining as she drank in the sight of you losing control of your body, weak at the knees and relying on Kuina’s arm around your middle to keep you up. Soon, the pair of you would be creasing with tears in your eyes, and she’s definitely the type that lightly hits whoever happens to be in her reach as she cackles. Afterwards, the air around you would be drastically lighter. She’d be thrilled to have you back.

Niragi

Niragi would be suspicious of your laughter. He’d stare at you with a brow and corner of his lips raised, practically with a question mark over his head as he eyes you. He’d demand to know what’s so funny, what’s suddenly happened to you-- but on hearing that he’d just said something in such a way that struck you funny, he’d guffaw in dismissal. Though, hidden inside, his chest would swell with pride and a curl would remain on his lips for a long while after, throwing out certain remarks to try and catch you in a giggle fit once more. Every time it works, a strange glow of acceptance would find a home in his chest.

If, god forbid, anyone else had been the first to make you laugh, he’d want their head on a plate. And you know he’d have it, too, unless it were Chishiya. Perhaps Chishiya’s eyeroll to something Niragi had said would set you off, or even worse, something he’d said-- Niragi would lose his shit. He’d yell at you once the moment had passed, having let it brew for moments before. How dare you humiliate him? Unite with Chishiya against him? Of course, that wouldn’t be even a sliver of truth, and you’d have to talk him down from hunting Chishiya in the Beach’s halls.

You’d manage a soft laugh for him, holding his face to keep his attention and stop his spiralling. “Niragi,” you’d shine a smile, knowing exactly how to calm him. “He’s pitiful, and I’m yours.”

hikari kuina —

- when the witch hunt ended she was worried about you because she couldn’t find you anywhere but chishiya assured her by telling her that you probably had already left with arisu and usagi

- chishiya then led her to one of the control rooms where they reunited with arisu and usagi

- kuina immediately asked them whether they knew where you were but when they said they didn’t her worry increased

- but she promised herself she would go find you as soon as she was done with this

- the room full of computers left her slightly speechless and she really didn’t know what to think as chishiya and arisu spoke

- as the four of them discussed who could possibly be the game maker, all the computers lit up

- kuina’s held her breath as the game master spoke but when your face clearly appeared on the screens she couldn’t deny it anymore

- her eyes widened and her mouth fell open as your name slipped out of it

- she couldn’t comprehend how you were the one to create this hell not after all the intimate moments you shared

- chishiya had warned her about you, she should have listened but she couldn’t when you were so sweet and loving

- while chishiya had absolutely no idea that you could possibly be the game master he knew to be wary of you because of your specialty in heart games

- kuina quietly watched you laugh while explaining that there would be more games, her heart clenching at the thought that you perhaps never even loved her

- in that moment she truly wished to see an alien instead of you or anyone else for that matter just not you

- when arisu remembered that you and kuina were dating he questioned her whether you had told her anything that could be useful but her response was quite defensive because she was very upset

- she’ll try to forget about you and remind herself that you have to be beaten so she could go home to her sick mother

- she couldn’t help but miss you

- when she saw the fireworks go off, indicating that arisu and usagi had beaten you she felt her eyes watering as she quietly mourned you despite everything you did

- she realised that there was a small part of you that truly loved her

morizono aguni —

- this man is thinking about you 24/7

- he can’t find you anywhere nor anyone who might know where you are

- akane wasn’t much help when he attempted to describe you she only gave him a weirded out look

- so when he found arisu he was ecstatic

- he sat by the river preparing himself for any answer that arisu might give him

- except for the one where you’re the game master

- his movements stop and he feels like he’s about to throw up

- he doesn’t actually listens to what else arisu is saying

- aguni would feel very betrayed and angry, he’s sure that if you were in front of him he’d kill you

- but with time he slightly calms down but he refuses to talk about you to anyone

- he’d question everything you said and did

- tbh he wouldn’t even be surprised anymore if everything you said were lies

- he does wonder though why you became a game master and he’s slightly disappointed in himself that he never even suspected you

- don’t expect him to forgive you for everything you did, he won’t

- but he knows that he still loves you even though you ruined his life

rizuna ann —

- ann had noticed you leaving during the witch hunt but she didn’t think much of it, assuming that you were looking for a place to hide

- but when the game ended and you weren’t anywhere to be found, her concerns grew

- tatta eventually noticed the frown adorning her face and tried to reassure her by telling her that perhaps you went with kuina and chishiya

- while ann knew that was highly unlikely, she kept repeating it in her head so she wouldn’t just stand there

- a day passed and you still hadn’t returned so ann and tatta decided to drive around the city while the other citizens of the beach immigrated to the center of tokyo

- but her search for you had to wait as a new game started

- ann and tatta noticed arisu, usagi, kuina and chishiya hiding while attempting to run away and quickly stopped to pick them up

- she quietly listened to them discuss about the king of spades but quickly straightened up when usagi asked if you were even human

- ann turned around slightly and pretended to ignore the pitying look that kuina gave her as she asked them what you had to do with it

- the color drained from her face and her eyes were wide as arisu told her that you were the game master

- she quickly turned back into her seat while blinking rapidly to stop the tears from forming

- fortunately the king of spades managed to distract her for a while so she wouldn’t think about you

- ann took it pretty hard but pretended like nothing happened and denied feeling hurt by it

- it was only when she was laying beside kuina, taking her last breaths that she let a tear escape

- the last thing she saw were fireworks, her last thought being how you would be together in another life one where nothing would come in between the two of you

ryohei arisu —

- as soon as he realised that you weren’t beside him he started searching for you

- both he and usagi looked everywhere for you but when they were unable to find you, they went to look for the control room with heavy hearts

- the two were left dumbfounded when they saw the hundreds perhaps thousands of screens with bodies littered all across the room

- shortly after chishiya and kuina arrived at the scene before the screens lit up while a cheerful song played

- his heart stopped the moment he realised it was you on the screen

- his emotions were eating him up and his heart was clenching so heart he thought he was about to collapse

- his hands were shaking and he barely managed to keep himself from falling as he watched you smiling joyfully at him

- he barely comprehended what was happening around him as you announced the new games

- he wondered how you could do something like that to him after everything you went through together, after all the things you said to one another

- but he realised that he couldn’t try to justify your actions nor forgive you because he couldn’t betray karube and chota like that

- so he played the games with a broken heart beyond repair

- when he and usagi entered the last game venue he felt his eyes watering

- there you stood with a wide smile as you welcomed them as the queen of hearts

- as the game went on he realised that you truly had no idea what love was despite him having declared his love to you multiple times and shown you affection

- when you revealed that you made the seven hearts game specifically for him and his dead friends he was ready to shoot you

- but to escape the borderlands he had to win and he can’t win if you’re not alive

- he could feel usagi’s concerned glances as you continued manipulating them, making them question everything they knew

- but at the end when you gracefully died with a smile on your face, one that would haunt him for the rest of his life, he knew that you had grown to love him in your own twisted sick way

shuntaro chishiya —

- chishiya had quickly noticed that you were gone but despite his concern he left to find the control room

- he knew that you could handle being on your own for a few hours so he thoughts he could quickly get over with it before he and kuina would search the city for you

- but as you appeared on the countless amount of screens with open arms and a wide smile he realised that he probably would never see you again

- he couldn’t stop the way his face fell at the realisation that you had manipulated him

- chishiya knew he should have listened to his gut feeling but it was too late now

- he cared too much about you, much more than he normally would

- he felt like cursing you and shoving you off a building but he couldn’t ignore the stinging pain in his heart

- when kuina turned to him with wide concerned eyes he played it off by saying that he should have expected it from someone like you

- and during the whole time that he played games you wouldn’t leave his thoughts

- he wondered whether you made the collar that he was wearing or perhaps you just made the design

- the overthinking wouldn’t stop and he hated himself for ever loving you

- but as he was laying against a car with a bullet in his chest, he replayed all the moments he shared with you

- the final and last blow came when the fireworks went off and he got given an option of staying or leaving

- his heart shattered at the realisation that you were dead

- he looked at the exploding queen of hearts cards and wondered if you ever meant what you said to him, and as much as he hated it he knew that he had meant every word he said to you

suguru niragi —

- tbh he had better things to worry about during the ten hearts game so he only thought about you when everything had calmed down

- he was sitting on the ground while wrapping some bandages around his burned body when he wondered what you were doing

- when he found the king of clubs game he was actually looking for you and was slightly annoyed to see you weren’t there

- but he saw arisu and his friends so he wanted to ask them

- unfortunately he was too slow and the game had already started so he decided to ask after the game

- after kuina and arisu gave him a high-five he questioned them about your whereabouts

- he rolled his eyes as they all nervously glanced at each other before they told him that you were the game master

- he was not expecting that shit

- at first he’d think that they all went crazy but as he thought about it, it did make sense

- he would feel furious at first then he’d calm down

- niragi would wonder who of you was crazier: you, a sadistic liar or him, an abusive, psychotic narcissist

- it didn’t take long for him to conclude that you were ‘definitely crazier’ than him

- even though he found out that you were the game master, niragi would still run around looking for you

- after he shot chishiya and was dying on the floor not too far from the blonde, he would think about you

- now he was a 100% sure that you manipulated him into thinking that he loved you bc he’s sure that he’ll never love someone

- suddenly the large sign of the queen of hearts exploded and his heart dropped as he realised that you died

- fireworks went off indicating that they had won and could leave but tears were falling from his eyes as he kept his gaze steady on the rooftop where you had died

yuzuha usagi —

- usagi was breathing heavily as she watched the beach burn until she thought about the last time she saw you

- it had been in the beginning of the game and you promised her to hide while she went to help arisu

- but as she looked around she realised you weren’t there

- arisu managed to convince her to go to the control room with him after promising to help her looking for you after

- but the after never came when they found out that you were the game master

- usagi felt devastated as she watched you talk on the screens with a smile

- she wondered whether you ever faked the words you said

- but even if you did she wasn’t ready to let go of you yet

- she claimed to hate you and everything you did but her heart already clenched at the mention of your name

- at night she cried into arisu’s shoulder as she wondered where it went wrong

- during the games she managed to distract herself long enough to forget you for a couple of hours but when the adrenaline started to disappear you would haunt her mind endlessly

- when time came to play against the queen of hearts she felt like she could die of heartache alone

- arisu had offered to go alone but usagi refused to let her friend go against you all alone

- but reality really hit her when you stood there with a pretty dress and a charming smile on your face that usually would have swooned her

- for the entire game she had to hold back tears anytime she looked at you

- pain, betrayal and anger took over when you treated her as if you weren’t making people play to survive

- it was only when she looked up at you as she was bleeding in arisu’s arms, that she recognised a part of you by the look in your eyes

- it was the same look you gave her anytime she kissed you after a game with blush coating her cheeks or when you brushed your teeth in the morning while looking at her through the bathroom mirror with upturned lips

- she felt a sob take through her body and she knew the worst had yet to come

- and her prediction was right, you looked at her with a peaceful smile on your face before the laser went right through your head

- as your body fell to the ground, usagi rushed towards your body with trembling hands as she clung onto your body for the last time

Neither of you stopped, weaving in and out of burnings, over and under rubble as your feet carried you as far away as possible. Ignoring the chance you were dragging yourself into more danger, you let Chishiya guide you.

“In here!”

It was a small hardware store, the windows were already broken and the shelves raided, no doubt for weapons but luckily hidden behind the counter was a set of stairs. You tripped up them still holding each other's hand. As much as you desperately wanted to slump against the floor and let your lungs replenish the mass amounts of oxygen that you had depleted due to your impromptu sprint you knew that safety wasn’t guaranteed.

“Help me get this across the door.” You gesture to a solid filing cabinet. Mustering up the last of your shared strength you locked yourselves in. Bullets wouldn’t get through metal that thick.

The windows thankfully hadn’t been smashed but there was no heat.

This wasn’t like the home Chishiya had made.

“Did you get hit?” Chishiya asked through a pant. “How is your arm?”

“Fine.” You check to make sure. “What about you?”

He lifts his shirt before nodding. “It didn’t reopen, it’s okay.”

“What the fuck was that.” You drop your head against the wall. “How did he find us.”

Chishiya pulled off his backpack, handing you a bottle of water. “I think he knew people would be heading there to join the game.”

You stilled, the bottle clutched in your hand. “The game Kuina and An left to join?”

“Yeah probably.” He takes another swig of the water before recapping it and putting it back in his bag. “Why?”

“What if they got shot?”

He shakes his head. “Trust me Kuina is like a leech, she won’t die.”

“But what if-“

“Stop worrying about them.” He cuts you off. “They weren’t the ones that just nearly got shot to death, it’s okay to care about them but you have to prioritise yourself. Stop being irrational.”

“I’m not being irrational, I'm worrying about a friend.” You explain through gritted teeth.

He stares at you blankly. “Do you think Kuina would want you to worry in this way?”

You hate how he makes a good point.

Kuina would be angered at the thought you were worrying about her when your own life had been in danger. “No, she wouldn’t.”

“Then forget about her for a while. It’s okay to do that. It’s okay to care for yourself.” He assures you. “We need to figure out where we are.”

You peek out of the window, dropping back into your previous position when you see nothing. “I didn’t see any signs as we ran, it’s too dark.”

He agreed. “We will have to wait until the sun comes up but whatever is going on, I think this is coming to an end.”

“You think the games are nearly complete?”

He sounds sure. “I think that we have nearly won every card we need.”

“I hope so.” You wish. “I don’t think either of us will fare well against another game.”

“We should rest.” He manages to find a blanket and a cushion, laying them down on the floor. “You sleep first we can take it in turns, I’ll wake you up in a little so we can switch.”

“Are you sure?” You eye the makeshift bed. “You’ve just come out of a game one that was no doubt exhausting, mentally if not physically. I’m okay you want to sleep first.”

“No, it’s okay.” He declines the offer. “You get some sleep, I'm going to try and see if there is anything useful here, just let me know if I make too much noise.”

“Okay.” You agree, laying atop the blanket. “Goodnight.”

“Mhm.”

Despite his warning about making noise you don’t hear anything, it was hard to drift off at first. Your mind ran a world of its own as it had you picturing the masked gunman shooting down the door any second but eventually, the adrenaline you’d worked up burned out and you were left depleted and exhausted.

This time there were no dreams, just a void.

“Hey.” You felt yourself being sat up.

“What?” You grumbled, still disoriented from your nap. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s been a few hours.” Ah, it was time to switch.

You sit up, huffing as you brush the stray hairs out of your face. “Okay you sleep, I’ll take watch.”

“Okay.” He agrees, slipping onto the mat you’d just moved from. “I found a spare wrench, it’s against the wall.”

“Oh that’s good.” You yawn, leaning against the wall opposite Chishiya. “Sleep.”

“Goodnight.” He mumbles.

It didn’t take him long to fall asleep, it made sense though. He hadn’t exactly had time to rest after his game and it was unlikely he had managed to eat anything.

That was another pressing matter - food.

You quietly looked around, sifting through drawers and cupboards. Most of it was no good, perishable foods that were so rotten they looked as if they had been there for a millennia.

At this point they probably could have been.

It was hard not to wonder what was happening in the real world, if time passed different here then how long had you been gone? Years? Months? Days? It felt as though you’d been here for at least a year but it was probably something more like a few months.

The sun was already rising, it seemed as though some days night lasted forever, an unending darkness accompanied by a few hours of dull sunshine but some days it was the opposite, a hot sun with little reprieve found in the minimal hours of darkness that coats the city.

Today seemed like the latter.

You peered over the windowsill, the city as always was dead but you took that as a positive rather than a negative, you dropped back to the floor with a thud.

It was probably weird to watch Chishiya sleep but it wasn’t as though you had a variety of things to keep you entertained, you missed the small house and all of its perks. You forgot, even for a few days, what it was like to have absolutely nothing in a world where there was no permanency.

Your life in the real world - if it could be called that - had grown dull. There wasn’t much variety in the things you’d do, you were lonely and had grown accustomed to living alone but you missed how permanent things were. You had a home you could return to, you had a job, you had people you’d interact with, the sun rose and set at a normal time, you could go to stores and not worry about the shelves being empty.

Nothing here was permanent, not even the people, that’s what hurt you the most.

From the corner of your eye you saw an object stutter in the sky, you scrambled up, your heart racing in preparation to run.

Only to see something that, for once, provided you comfort.

“Chishiya wake up!” You slap his chest.

He jolts up, body rigid. “What?!”

“Look!” You point out the window at the mass ball of flames falling upon the city.

“Is that the blimp?” He squints. “It’s the king of spades. If I’ve worked it out correctly and I’m sure I have, that means after Kuina and Ans game finishes there’s just one game left.”

“What one?” You ask, a part of you relaxing at the blimp crashing into the ground.

“The queen of hearts.”

“We should go.” He stands, brushing his clothes off.

You quickly pack up, both taking a few sips of water and halving an oat bar before setting off.

The journey to the final blimp was thankfully a short one, the game stationed relatively close to the hardware store you'd hidden in the day prior. It made sense, you were practically in the heart of the city.

“Is that-“ You were shocked to see so many familiar faces. “Arisu? Usagi?” You called out.

They both turned to you at the same time, eyeing Chishiya cautiously before approaching you. “You’re alive?”

“Clearly.” Chishiya scoffs under his breath before turning to you. “I’ll be over here.”

You nod as he walks away. “How are you both?”

Arisu smiles although it’s strained. “As well as can be, are you going to play?”

“No.” You shook your head. “I have enough days on my visa.”

Usagi shrugs. “We played a few, I think we all just want this to be over.”

“You can say that again.” Arisu laughs. “Heart games are never good.”

“They aren’t.” You agree, the memories of your own horrifying experience with the card were always on your mind. “Have you seen anyone else?”

“Like who?”

“ An? Kuina?” You ask.

“We were staying together.” You explains. “Only for a few days but they both had to leave to join a game.”

You make a noise of affirmation. “How did you know?”

“I saw the blimp pass over, I also saw it crash.”

If the game was over and they weren’t here that could mean….

“Didn’t you say you were staying together?” Usagi seems to notice your train of thought and intervenes. “Did they know you were coming here?”

“No.” You purse your lips. “We were hiding out at a small house type hut but the king of spades turned up and quite literally blew it up.”

“I’m sure they are fine.” Usagi rubs your arm. “They probably went back there first.”

You truly hoped that was the case.

“Thanks.” You smile at her. “Is there anyone else here?”

The atmosphere around you turned into something solemn.“Tata…he passed away during a game.”

“How?” You weren’t close with him but he wasn’t a bad person.

Arisu looks at you with unbridled guilt. “He died helping us win.”

“I’m sure he wouldn’t regret that choice.” You reassure him, it was never easy when you were the reason for someone’s death even when you weren’t directly involved in it. “I’m glad you’re both okay.”

“Likewise.” He doesn’t make an attempt to smile, you can understand why. “I think the game is starting.”

You look back to find the gates surrounding the large building open, something they hadn’t been when you arrived. “I’m gonna go get Chishiya.”

He seems to have the same idea as he walks towards you. “Happy?”

“Just peachy.” You retort sarcastically. “Let’s go.”

“Without us?” You could scream as you turn back to see Kuina and An walking towards you, both worse for wear with various cuts and bruises littering their pale bodies.

“Fuck.” You curse as you run towards them, your arms wrapping around their waist as you help them stay upright. “Chishiya!”

He understands and wraps Ans arm around his shoulder. “You owe me, both of you owe me.”

“Stop complaining.” You hiss at him. “What happened to you two?”

“We won our game but it was hard.” Kuina says tiredly. “I need to sit.”

“Here.” You help them both slump down against the set of stairs beside the building. “You’ll be okay, you will. Chishiya do you have anything to help?”

He looks at the pair before grabbing your hand and pulling you aside. “I’ll be honest. I don’t think they are going to make it.”

“Don’t say that.” You felt the colour drain from your face. “You can help them.”

“There’s too much blood.” He shakes his head. “It will be pointless.”

“Chishiya please.” You bat away your tears. “I can’t lose them.”

He groans but pulls the bag off his back. “What one first?”

“Her.” An nudges Kuina. “She has it worse.”

“Take this.” Chishiya shoved a small bottle of cleaning alcohol into your hands. “Clean as much as you can. I’ll deal with Kuina.”

“What happened?” You glance at Arisu before tuning back to An.

“They were in a game.” Your voice wavers as you carefully dab at the large gash on Ans leg. “We need to finish this and get out of here, they need a hospital.”

“Usagi and I have decided to play.” He informs you. “I’ll do my best.”

You hear him turn away. “Arisu?”

He turns back to you. “Yeah?”

“I know you can win this.”

You watch as he and Usagi disappear inside the building, both of them limping as they go, clearly sustaining their own injuries.

alice in borderland headcanons that make me go insane 🚙 season 2 spoliers under the cut!

cw suicidal thoughts, attempted suicide, self loathing, mentions of blood, using cigarettes as a coping mechanism, implied arisu x usagi, angst overload ☆

kuina and chishiya had this secret meeting spot only both of them knew where they sometimes talk about anything that comes out of their head which eventually ends with one of them opening up about their life before the game along with their own struggles. when chishiya went missing after the king of spades appeared, sometimes kuina would go there hoping he would be there but he never showed up.

usagi and arisu sleep together in the same tent, sometimes when arisu is sleeping he tends to have nightmares about his friends which causes him to start crying in his sleep. usagi comforts arisu as tears fall out of his eyes, apologizing to her for being a burden and he needs to be strong if he wants to protect her. usagi continues reassuring arisu telling him he was never a burden and she is already happy with him in her life. the tears stopped dropping and arisu pulled usagi for a tight hug, both of them spared no words but continued to be each others arm for the entire night.

tatta never had real friends his entire life was filled with fake people and he could never express himself with others fearing that they would look down on him, it suddenly disappeared when he started to get more closer with arisu and expressing his personality and humor more. arisu never judged him but laughed and smiled at his stupid comments and remarks, tatta never felt more happier in his entire life.

chishiya smokes a cigarette when he needs get something off his head, he often reminisces about his life wandering whether the choices he made as a doctor was partially his fault. even though his boss told him it wasn’t still it hold no purpose for chishiya because it eats him up from the inside no matter how much he tries to deny it.

ann is interested in photography she owns a digital camera and captures of what she thinks is beautiful. in a world filled with so much despair and horrible things happening she wants to be reminded theres always something good waiting behind the dark.

arisu, chota, karube as a joke had matching bracelets for their friendship anniversary. when chota and karube died in the 7 of hearts game, arisu checked on them to see if they still had theirs to his shock they still wore their bracelets he took them from their bloody bodies and carries it with him to honor their death. whenever arisu is going through a difficult time he always manages to get a bit of strength knowing a piece of his bestfriends were with him.

aguni misses takeru alot, he misses his presence and memories he had with him he wonders whether if he should have died in the beach and joined his bestfriend instead. suicide lingers a lot in the back of his head sometimes he hears his bestfriends voice tempting him to do it. the thought eventually gets to him and he sets a date where he would then heiya unexpectedly appears in his life and a part of her reminds him of takeru but he doesnt know why, but he doesnt want to repeat his mistake again and he chooses to protect heiya. she eventually grows on aguni sometimes he accidentally calls her by his deceased bestfriends name, she gets confused about it but decides not to act upon it when she sees a slight spark in his eyes when he mentions that unfamiliar name.

chishiya knows how cruel the world is towards the unfortunate he seen it himself as a doctor. he came to the terms to suppress his feelings not expressing it to anyone, it eventually leads him to lack any empathy towards anyone. no matter how much he forces himself to understand he doesnt feel anything when he sees someone on their knees begging for their life after losing a game. so why did it feel different during the jack of heart game, when he saw his partner, ippeis lifeless body? this was supposed to be normal for him to see such a horrifying sight of someones life being taken during a game. instead he feels remorseful remembering how ippei wished for all of this to end so nobody else would die in a such sincere tone. chishiya himself remembers and heard countless last words of the people he was partnered before they got killed, so why does this feel different?

Asking you on a date PART 1:

Arisu Poor boy would be so nervous, He literally doesn’t have a life outside of his games, so he doesn’t know how to ask you out. Would most likely not know what to wear either. Karube and Chota are there to help of course. Karube is giving him tips and Chota’s fussing over Arisu like a mother, telling him his hair is unkempt and his outfit looks so grubby, proceeding to search through Arisu’s cabinet for something decent.

Karube It isn’t a problem for him but he’s nervous. This wasnt the first time he’d be asking someone out, but this was the only time he was serious about someone. Which meant he actually wanted to date you, get married to you, have a family with you. He can barely contain his excitement as he’s walking to your place, making sure there aren’t any creases in his polo shirt, that his hair is neatly combed back, and the flowers he got for you are still fresh. 

Chota This shy cutie probably doesn’t have the guts to confess and ask you out, so he goes to Arisu and Karube. Arisu obviously doesn’t know what to do, but he does tell Chota to get rid of his bank uniform because he looks like a nerd, and teases him by telling him you weren’t into nerds. Karube scolded Arisu, then gave Chota a paper with his script that he can practice while on the way to your house. Poor baby probably stammers through practicing and can’t focus because all he can think of is the moment he finally asks you out.

Shibuki No doubt she’ll probably just pull you to her by the waist and whisper her confession into your ears. She doesn’t even flinch and she delivers her confession beautifully.

Chishiya He isn’t the type to be romantic, but he’ll definitely try his best just to make you happy. He’ll probably ask you out to a cafe after his shift, or he’ll prepare a meal to have a picnic with you at the park. While the both of you are on a stroll he’ll hold your hand discreetly and like the smooth genius he is, he’ll confess and ask you on another possible date.

Kuina It isn’t anything special. You both hang out a lot, so it wasn’t hard for her to ask if you wanted to come over and make ramen or watch movies together. Once you both were hanging out for quite a while, in the middle of watching a movie she’ll scoot closer to you and lay your head on her shoulder before kissing it and she’ll confess her feelings to you, and that she understands if you don’t feel the same. Kuina’s pretty chill about it, but inside she’s bursting with excitement and nervousness.

— before meeting you, usagi always believed that the only person capable of understanding and accepting her as she was, were the mountains. however, when you entered her life and she had the opportunity to open her heart to you, and, unlike the rest, you really cared for her without any ulterior motive, she knew that you were different. although it seems like something pretty common, climbing mountains for her is something she only enjoys doing in the company of someone she feels comfortable with. although it was a bit difficult because you were afraid of heights, usagi convinced you to go with her to a climb and she told you that she would protect you no matter what happens. trusting her, you accepted, and even though it was a little scary, you can't deny that you enjoyed doing it with her. from the top of the mountains, everything looks simply majestic. and usagi, she can't help but look at you with heart eyes, wondering how she was so lucky to end up with someone as wonderful as you, someone with whom she could share everything she felt without feeling judged. someone to trust and someone who feels like she finally accepts and loves her no matter what.

- Kuina misspells Chishiya’s name a lot when texting. Chishiya would look at his phone and see ‘XHISUAYSH’ and he’d already know that Kuina needs him.

- Chishiya has accounts on every single social media app and he barely uses it. Kuina made it for him so he can have access to all the apps. Though sometimes he ends up liking posts from Kuina.

- Chishiya declines calls, so it’s up to Kuina to voice message instead.

- Both of them are apartment neighbours. Kuina’s room is more lively and has pictures of her friends and family, it also has those LED lights that she displays on the walls. Chishiya barely has anything in his room except a desk with a laptop and printer and a bed in the corner.

- They both met in the hospital. Chishiya was her substitute doctor for a week. Kuina claims that he’s the only one that treats her normally and doesn’t make a huge fuss about her being trans.

- They reunited once again in a coffee shop. Now they hang out every once in awhile.

- Kuina drags him to places, Chishiya actually ends up being dragged.

- They go to different colleges that are somewhat near each other. When Chishiya passes Kuina’s class window, they end up waving to each other. Kuina’s day ends up getting better seeing Chishiya.

- Got matching hoodies once. Everywhere they passed, the people all thought they were a couple.

- Kuina managed to be friends with Usagi, who is friends with Arisu, which Arisu is friends with Chota, Karube and Tatta, who is well-known friends with Ann. And guess what? Chishiya got dragged in the friendgroup.

- Kuina’s the singer, Chishiya plays an instrument for her.

- The group chat they’re in consists of the whole group. Kuina and Chishiya end up making conversations about gossips late at night.

- Kuina would probably fake being serious, then when Chishiya catches her attention, she’d laugh so hard and shove him harshly saying ‘I’M JOKING HAHAHAH-’ and Chishiya stumbles back and ends up falling over.

- Kuina would know all about his inventions. She got a bit surprised when she found out Chishiya knows how to make bombs.

- Chishiya is the one that’ll sort of hide behind Kuina when he’s being introduced to new people.

- Chishiya’s the night owl. Kuina’s the early bird.

- chishiya won’t be too happy when he opens your door and sees you and aguni kissing in your bedroom

- he’ll find a way to insult the militants in every conversation that he has with you

- aguni won’t do anything to him tho because he’s your brother and he knows you care about him

- but god this man almost rolled his eyes into the back of his head whenever chishiya’s around

- if it had been any other person chishiya would have just stayed out of it but he is almost addicted to irritating aguni while knowing he won’t do anything to him

- one time it was so bad that aguni refused to be in the same room as your brother for a week

- hatter would be proud of him for finally getting a girl tho

rizuna ann —

- this woman could care less who you were related to

- and besides it’s not like she has anything against your brother

- chishiya though would see this as an opportunity to get on her good side for if he ever needed her skill set

- but it didn’t really work

- still if he’d ever ask you to ask ann to do something for him she’d do it if it’s nothing too bad

- but you’d have to return the favour later though

- ann would question you about your brother just to make sure he isn’t manipulating you into anything

- these two are a little bit too similar so they’d stay out of each other’s business

ryohei arisu —

- arisu had absolutely no idea you were related to the guy he remembered from the five spades game when he first met you

- you weren’t doing anything when he saw you in the lobby after a game

- his eyes practically turned into hearts when you laughed at something the person in front of you had said

- and his little crush didn’t go unnoticed by chishiya who saw this as the perfect opportunity to use him for his plan

- your brother specifically told kuina to introduce you to arisu and make it known to him that you were his younger sibling

- after that he’d ask arisu to help him and when he saw that he wasn’t going to agree he mentioned you being sad that he won’t join

- this man had to hold back a smile when arisu agreed while asking if you were also going to be there

- while chishiya knew you thought arisu was hot he didn’t think that you’d actually date him

- so that came as a slight surprise

- when chishiya betrayed him, he had thought you were just acting like you were interested in him until you risked your life to save him

- he’s still holding a grudge against your brother but he other than that there isn’t anything huge going on between them

suguru niragi —

- i swear chishiya thinks you’re delusional when he found out that you were dating him

- he’s displeased with the fact that he could be sometime somehow related to him and he’s very vocal about it

- 50% of the time he makes fun of how stupid niragi is the other 50% is him making fun of you because you’re dating him

- although he’s not very vocal about it he would be worried about you

- niragi would taunt your brother by kissing you in front of him

- at some point chishiya tried to manipulate you out of dating niragi but that didn’t go as planned

- when you caught niragi’s interest he hadn’t expected for you to be chishiya’s little sibling

- he only found out when you were making out in your room and your brother barged in without knocking whatsoever

- he whines to you about how annoying your brother is but other than that he doesn’t really care that he’s related to you

- when chishiya set your boyfriend on fire and you found out you weren’t really happy

- kuina had to hold you back from jumping on him tbh

- even though you promised to yourself that you would never talk to your brother again he somehow wormed his way back to your heart again

- you eventually forgave him for it bc he’s your brother and you were sure that niragi wouldn’t let that slide

- speaking of him, you’d take care of his burn wounds for him but you weren’t an actual doctor like your brother

- so you used whatever knowledge you picked up from him

- tbh it would be tiring to date niragi while being chishiya’s younger sibling

takatora samura —

- you would have caught his eye while you were talking with kuina

- he wouldn’t have really known that you were chishiya’s sister because you weren’t exactly identical

- you would have noticed him lingering around any room that you were in so you decided to talk to him

- he was slightly surprised by your laidback approach and didn’t say very much

- after that encounter he continued hanging around you until chishiya noticed

- when your brother found out about his infatuation with you he’ll be around you more than ever

- bc samura doesn’t know yet that he’s your brother he’d be kinda pissed that he’s constantly around you

- when he found out though he didn‘t really care

- chishiya would dislike him and he’ll let you know

- he’d talk about your boyfriend as if he’s a dog

- but other than that i don’t really think they’d interact much

yuzuha usagi —

- she would have met you through kuina

- you were absolutely breathtaking to her and she’d blush anytime you even looked at her

- chishiya immediately noticed how usagi liked you so he used it to his advantage

- anytime he noticed that she was skeptical to meet up for the plan he’d carelessly mention that you’d be there which changed her mind immediately

- she’d know pretty soon that he’s your brother because you didn’t really hide it

- when chishiya betrayed her and arisu you were really pissed

- you had saved her from niragi but she was less trusting around you which you understood

- eventually you were able to convince her that you weren’t like your older brother and that you would never betray her

- chishiya wouldn’t really care that you’re dating her and usagi would only have a slight distaste because he betrayed her

- but other than that they were both alright with how things were

Chishiya Shuntarō

He thinks he's alright with kids skill wise, since he works with kids often his kid skills are a lot higher than expected. Chishiya doesn't particularly want kids but if you want kids he wouldn't deny you.

You two are out walking to a shop you like to visit holding hands and chatting when a toddler catches your attention. The kid appears to of lost her parents, crying to the point her words can barely be heard.

You walk up to her kneeling down trying to ask her what's wrong but she doesn't respond still bawling.

Chishiya kneels down next to you and calms the girl down with random noises and a game of peekaboo, he let's you speak to her, soon her parents come find her and leave after thanking you both. As you look at Chishiya you see him in a new light, a much softer one than before.

Arisu Ryōhei

He's not good with kids and he knows it. Even if you wanted a kid he'd treat it as a friend more than a son or daughter.

Arisu was strung along with you to a family event, all your cousins would be there even the ones under age 10. Arisu is visibly nervous yet still he manages to have kids near him whenever you look over. You look over once again and notice one of your cousins are crying next to him, Arisu is trying to shush him (bribing him) you have to walk over and drag your cousin back to your aunt before asking Arisu what happened.

You were just as confused as him so you decided to keep Arisu close to you from now on.

"He started crying when he heard my name apparently it was girly and he didn't like it??"

Ann

Ann doesn't mind kids but she definently isn't some prodigy with them. If you wanted kids she would give a stern no.

You and Ann are sitting on your lounge watching movies for Halloween, your cuddled up together paying all attention to the movie.

You say as you leave to the kitchen upstairs. A knock is heard, you being upstairs Ann gets up to answer the door to a teen. Honestly if it wasn't Halloween Ann would've thought it was a poorly planned robbery with the teens clothes.

"I'm going to get some more snacks"

Ann smiles at the teen and closes the door while she runs upstairs to grab a candy apple for her. Your confused about what she needs it for but figure that it's important with the way she's running. When she get back to the door she can see the kid walking to the next house already so she waddles to her and gives her the apple apologising.

"Trick or treat!"

"What happened?"

Your back on the lounge when Ann walks back and when she finishes explaining you laugh at the story then go back to cuddling.

Kuina Hikari

Kuina is good with kids, but that's only if you ask the kid. They like her so much because she's so relaxed about what they do.

Kuina is sitting at a bar when she gets a text from her friend asking her to babysit with her so of course she joins her friend. When she gets there the kid is having organised fun like colouring and drinking apple juice.

"Really? You called me here for this? I thought it'd be some hard to care for kid"

Kuina is a little sad that she isn't at the bar anymore but she gets to spend time with her friend, and some sticky kid, plus her friend needed a break after the continuous 3 hours of kid sitting.

"I called you over so I could shower, it was a hot day at work today so watch over him for me?"

Kuina nods watching her friend leave her with the kid. She decides to not speak for a bit while the kid is busy.

She steps outside the house to call you over, her friend can take 2 hours in a shower. When you arrive you sit together watching TV and playing board games with the kid until her friend is back.
