A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 123

Episode Title: Always Keep A Screwdriver In Your Heart

MY 19 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 123 (manga chap 192):

LOVE THIS EPISODE SO MUCH!!!  

1) If Hijikata and Shinpachi would’ve just switched places, the seating arrangement would’ve been perfect.

2) They ordered 10 plates of meat for 6 people, which I thought was weird, but what’s even weirder is how do the screwdrivers expel their waste after such a hearty meal? It’s questions like that that keep me up at night. 

3) In the manga, Gintoki actually grabbed his crotch to remind everyone why the hunt was important in the first place, so I kinda missed that from the episode.

4) Ok, not a favorite moment per se but more like wtf: those two figures in the doorway were so freaking weird and creepy almost. The guy looks like he has one of those kabuki masks on and then that thing on his shoulder, I couldn’t figure out if it was a kid or a monkey, but they both sounded DRUNK. It was odd enough to actually distract me from the scene.

5) Zura managed to escape from prison even though he was handicapped in his screwdriver form. Man deserves to be free.

6) Gin-chan looked so good as a truck driver. And I loved that he was smoking a cigarette. Gave him one more thing in common with Hijikata. 

7) I almost wish they could have stayed as drivers since they had a steady income and most likely were having regular meals since they could afford them.

8) I don’t even understand why. And the anime team were the ones who came up with all the weird Sacchan stuff as she was looking for the aliens.

9) Hijikata’s “O” pleasure face. Bless the anime team for coming up with this bar scene.

10) Gin-chan being brutal to Sacchan as usual, though she probably enjoyed it as usual as well.

11) Sacchan looking good even after being run over. She really was the MVP of the episode, heck, of the arc considering she found the location the aliens. 

12) That’s Gintoki’s crotch and it looked magical. It kinda looked more vaginal than penile or even screwdriveral. 

13) Just another magical crotch shot.

14) I couldn’t stop laughing cuz it basically looked like Gintoki was forking the ship to death, causing it to explode. We even got to see the moment of his climax ffs. They took away the crotch grab and yet the anime team thought THIS was ok to show. Lmao.

15) I wondered the same thing but thankfully everything was back to normal the next time we seem them. 

16) Something the anime team came up with to fill in the extra minutes of the episode at the end. Basically Gintoki offering a glass-half-full look to Kagura’s concerns about cicadas and mosquitoes.

17) Yeah, they really should have continued driving that truck. This made me so sad.

18) Rudeass mosquitoes.

19) I love that Gintoki had no glass-half-full counter to Kagura’s feelings about Madao.

SHIPS TALLY:

Gintoki x Hijikata: so much flirting!

Okita x Kagura: a couple that beats up Zura together, stays together.

Kondou x Otae: I was so glad he was still thinking of Tae-chan even though it looked like he was ready to move on to Princess Phillips. This moment was not in the manga. 

Zura x Elizabeth: they are a unit, forever together.

Gintoki x Sacchan: I never thought it would be her boobs that turned into screwdrivers...don’t know how that would work with Gin-chan unless they actually became hex sockets. And every time I get to this scene, I picture it both ways. I need to go wash my eyes and brain now. 

Hijikata x Okita: that whole scene, the way it was lit and the fact that Sougo bought him a drink, smacked of romance of the one night stand variety. 

Kondou x Zura: they teamed up and were so in sync. 

Kondou x Princess Phillips: She was cute! And their heads fit together. That’s probably how the people of Planet Screw reproduces. 

Hijikata x Zura: it was nice of Hijikata to offer Zura a nice, last meal.

Okita x Zura: even though Sougo was much meaner in the anime...he only ordered raw meat in the manga, but in the ep he ordered TAINTED raw meat...it was still sweet that he was feeding Zura (with an assist from Hijikata). 

Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just completely unbelievably amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s immense generosity that I am able enjoy Gintama on an extra another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.

GINTAMA WIPS

fly the hurricane a TakaZura fic, originally started for week 3 of the gintama fic fest. i can’t quite figure out its ending scene though, and since i can’t figure out its ending scene, i dont reeeeally know where it’s going, so it’s just kinda been.... sitting there...

“You should leave Edo.”

Well. He had expected something more along the lines of atonement or meditation—some sentimental journey of self-discovery following the likes of the old philosophical masters whose words Katsura always kept close to heart. There’s an odd curl of satisfaction in knowing his old comrade and once enemy could still be as pragmatically cruel as ever.

“And what will you do?” he asks. “Your head still has the same price on it as mine.”

of possessions and perversions, ch.3 not abandoned, don’t worry! working out the action + dialogue to get everyone where i want them to be is just taking a little longer than expected, sigh.

Zura. Gold eyes. Kiss. The tenma, body, quest—

He jerks upright, ripping the blanket off his body and throwing his head to the side hard enough for his neck to make a small crick.

Rumpled sheets. Tossed pillow. Empty futon.

He’s out the door and staring at Shinpachi and Kagura’s surprised faces before he even registers moving.

“Oi! Where’s Zura?!”

a little something to warm the heart something i started writing to work through my feelings surrounding Gintoki, Katsura and Ikumatsu during the Homeless arc. ironically made my feelings even more muddled, lol.

When Katsura says nothing, Gintoki begins to ramble.

“Think about it. Even your shitty tastes won't ruin Ikumatsu’s business. You could settle. Hell, get hitched, have kids, I'll be the crazy uncle. We'll have shitty dinners once a month plus New Years, Christmas, birthdays, Valentine's day, and special occasions. You can never have too much ramen, it's like a national treasure, eat it every season.”

It's Katsura’s turn to snort.

“You just want free food don't you?”

hearts don’t have to be broken to hurt (and sometimes healing hurts more than the break) a HijiZura fic that I work on in between other smaller wips and possessions whenever the urge strikes. will i ever finish the first chapter? i am going to damn well try.

There’s not a flutter of wind in the air; it’s a perfect, still night.

In the stillness, he hears the soft pad of footsteps heading in his direction long before the shadows meld into the shape of a man, walking across the bamboo porch with sure, even steps.

A pair of surprised faces meet, before a soft smile crinkles the corner of hazel brown eyes.

NARUTO WIPS

chatoyance an InoSaku modern AU that was inspired by a story my friend told of meeting a French heiress to a jewellery company whilst on her travels. couldn’t help myself - Ino just demanded to be a Franco-Japanese heiress who goes on exchange to Tokyo and finds and falls in love with the most beautiful cherry blossom ever.

They talk mostly in Japanese, scatterings of French and English when some things just don’t translate. Ino switches between languages the same way she switches outfits: furiously, carelessly, and with the kind of unapologetic confidence Sakura thought only ladies in Hollywood movies possessed.

that MadaKaka one I never came up with a title for, part 3 you know that MadaKaka fic I wrote waaayyy back when where Madara freaks out over Kakashi’s forearms? yeah, that one. i’ve been trying to write the next part of that for... like 8 months now? 

“It's an Uchiha thing, right?”

A second of stupified silence.

“What?” he asks, eloquently, when he realises that Kakashi is waiting for a response.

“The touching thing. You Uchihas like to touch.”

two more MadaKaka smut oneshots (hopefully <1k) that I started and would like to finish just so I can move them into the ‘completed’ folder

Madara is tight, so tight Kakashi amuses himself with the thought of being the Uchiha’s first, though that could hardly be the case with the way Madara sinks down without pause or hesitation, hair thrown back and throat bared.

It’s ironic, really, that only when Kakashi is silenced is he willing to make noise.

Fingers trail down a cotton-covered jaw, sweeping down neck and over collarbone to rest on shoulders. Kakashi tilts his head back at the touch, humming slightly.

THE HOBBIT//LOTR

just another post-BOTFA barduil fic okay, so I haven’t actually started writing this yet, but it’s been on my mind ever since falling back into the lotr fandom (if you’re wondering why i’ve been neglecting my own fics for the past month, that is why) and turning into thranduil trash. i just want a proper slow burn romance where Thranduil feels in-character to me, cause as much as I enjoy fandom!Thranduil’s fabulousness and sexy dom attitude, I think there’s a midway point between book!Thranduil and movie!Thranduil where the complexities of his character and history would really shine, and I really want to find and explore it. also woodelf culture and generally exploring inter-elf culture and elf-man-dwarf politics! i currently have 1.5k of scene outlines and notes and much excite :D

aaand that’s probably the wip list for the year, knowing my slow writing pace! hopefully i’ll manage to get some, if not most of them complete, cause i have a backlog of other scattered wips and fic ideas i would love to see come to life. *prays fervently to the writing gods and goddesses*

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 459

MY 15 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 459:

So much OkiKagu cuteness...I wish the arc hadn’t ended so soon, even though Kagura spent most of it immobilized and helpless, and at the mercy of Okita’s sadism and everyone else’s stupidity....

Moment 1: That is like the cutest funeral photo ever.

Moment 2: He brought her a rose! Awwww!!! I don’t care if his intentions weren’t the purest, the most important thing is he brought her a rose in front of everyone!

Moment 3: Again, I don’t care about his intentions, the rose! The rose is what matters! But seriously, what a cute, totally evil face.

Moment 4: Sougo is seriously uber sadistic. The King, everyone.

Moment 5: I know Kagura-chan was totally suffering, but honestly, I just have the biggest grin throughout this entire sequence every time I see it.

Moment 6: The conveyor belt of death strikes again!

Moment 7: I think Tama-chan did more damage to Kagura-chan than Okita did. Holy crap. Kagura’s poor eyeballs.

Moment 8: Tama, Kyuu-chan, Tsukky, and Sacchan are a lethal combination at funerals.

Moment 9: These two adorable morons. 

Moment 10: Zura!!! I was so happy that despite the fact the funeral procession was practically swarming with cops and the military, he still showed up to pay his respects to his “leader”. How sweet is that???

Moment 11: This moronic and suicidal opportunist.

Moment 12: Look at Zura’s tears!!! The man was BAWLING! Seriously, how freaking sweet was that???!!!

Moment 13: My heart clenched a little when they presented Kagura with the umbrella. That was so sweet.

Moment 14: Honestly, I was kinda hoping at least Gin-chan was in on the joke, which would explain why he didn’t seem as sad as I thought he would be if Kagura had really died, but based on this, I guess he took it seriously, so I felt pretty disappointed that he didn’t even shed a tear for her. Of course I loved the arc overall, but this part never really sat right with me.

Moment 15: A family that gets cremated together, stay together.

SHIPS TALLY:

Okita x Kagura: to everyone else, Sougo’s reaction was for real so they must have thought he really had feelings for Kagura, which means in everyone’s eyes, THEY ARE CANON.

Gintoki x Sacchan and Gintoki x Kagura: because Sacchan felt so freaking threatened by Kagura, like she was a serious rival for Gin-chan’s affections.

Kagura x Hijikata: I just think it’s cute when Kagura calls Hijikata “Toshi”.

Kondou x Otae (or Hijikata x Otae): I mean, she thanked both of them so take your pick...or you could count them as a threesome if you’d like.

Hijikata x Zura: that’s probably one of the most shippiest moment they’ve had in the so far...at least that’s what it felt like to me.
