HAPPY 1-YEAR OF DRAWING ANNIVERSARY TO ME!

(Warning: slightly longer post incoming cause sometimes I gotta be a sentimental bitch ok? So let's go on a little trip down memory lane.)

This day, a year ago, I made my very first fanart. It was dnf (if that surprises you, then welcome to being on my blog for the very first time). I drew a little frog face too so I could use it as a watermark (fun fact: I still use that very same first one).

I immediately put my drawing up on twt because I told myself that I wasn't gonna be afraid of having people see that I was at the very beginning of this journey and had no clue what I was doing. That instead of being bad at art, I was gonna be awesome at being a beginner who doesn't know shit.

I started with little doodles and silly comics and then I laughed way too long when the first drawing of mine that gained some attention was a dnf butt joke. At the time I was trying to balance shipping and non-shipping art so I didn't even draw dnf that much but in hindsight it's probably the only possible way this could have gone.

At the very end of August I woke up to @honelle56 caps-locking at me in my messages - I was very confused and tired (I am no morning person and I will never be, fuck off with your mornings) because Dranart liked my drawing of singing Dream. Dranart was my 17th follower on twt which is a useless yet extremely funny fact about my time on that hellsite.

I also drew human!patches because a) patches was and will always be my favorite dteam member and b) it was a really cute trend and while I do love drawing dream, george and sapnap, I was also quite happy to try drawing anything but a white man for once. And I really liked how the drawing turned out.

Much, much later, I tried to draw my first slightly more realistic looking drawing. I was extremely confused on how to draw anything like this. Especially their hair gave me tons of trouble but given my experience, I think it's not a bad attempt.

When hijacked smp started I obviously wanted to participate, and I drew c!blu who doesn't associate with any side in particular but instead serves soup to everyone who visits her tavern 'The Soup House'. She also wants to be paid in stories from all around the map.

One of the events I was most excited about was dnf week. I even collaborated with two talented writers and I drew the corresponding art for two fics.

(Fun or not so fun fact: when twt had like three hundred collaborative aneurysms about the situation at that moment, that was when I created this tumblr account. I didn't use it super actively (I guess I needed another situation to fully make the switch) but I at least started the account that now developed quite a bit since then.)

I didn't really draw at all through January and February and I actually kinda thought I would move on from that hobby and fandom (not because of negative feelings, just because I didn't really have the urge to create anything within this fandom) and then situations happened and now I am here; and for some reason that is beyond any logic and my understanding I am now even more insane about dteam.

Wild to me but we are rolling with it now, I guess.

Since I got here, I drew more than ever (I actually think I might have made more drawings in the month since I got here than I made the whole rest of the year). There's just such an active and funny community here that cares about fan works for the sake of creating and not just because a CC might see it.

Unfortunately, Tumblr won't let me add more than 10 images in one post (maybe fortunately for everyone who has this monstrosity of a post on their dash). au where dream is a privateer and wilbur is a pirate.

they have an ongoing rivalry, dream believing himself to be better because of his permit from the crown while wilbur doesn't see dream as a real raider because of his protection from the royals.

the two of them and their crews often clash with each other since they sail in the same waters and sometimes target the same ships.

insults, banter, and fights between them are common.

but one day, dream arrives at the castle to report back to the king and collect his payment and finds the court in an excited flurry, whispers surrounding him everywhere he goes.

he asks one of the servants about it after his audience with the king, breath hitching when the young man answers, "they've captured captain soot."

that night, dream returns to his ship with a sinking feeling in his stomach that he can't quite explain.

over the next weeks, he goes about his business like usual, sailing through the familiar sea and hijacking ships from the enemies.

something feels off though.

there's no rival crew to fight them for the attack, no brown coat fluttering in the wind, no sassy remarks when dream and his friends transport their loot over to their ship.

and dream admits to himself that maybe, he liked wilbur a lot more than he wanted to.

during his next visit to the castle, he keeps his ears open, learning that wilbur's being held in one of the torture chambers below the dungeon.

something about the words makes his heart twist painfully.

in the end, he asks his crew for help, all of them surprisingly willing to save wilbur.

with their help, dream has no problem breaking in and getting the keys from the body of an unconscious guard, leaving his quartermaster and best friend, sapnap, on look-out while he slips down to the chambers.

it's dark and wet, the air thick and stuffy. only one door in the corridor is closed, and dream has to try four keys before he finally finds the right one.

what he finds on the other side almost makes him throw up.

wilbur's lying on the dirty floor, his back torn up and bloody. there are chains around his wrists, and dream can see the bruising underneath them, blue and green and black. his usually fluffy brown curls are tangled and soaked with sweat and blood, and when dream steps closer, he can see cuts and burn marks all over wilbur's arms.

he reaches out, wanting to unlock the chains, but when his fingers brush wilbur's, the brunet flinches violently, a sob echoing through the room.

"please, no, no more. please, i can't- please."

dream's heart breaks at the desperate words, and he swallows before he finally whispers, "i- it's dream. wil, i'm here to help you, i promise, please just let me help you."

finally, wilbur looks at him.

it's gut-wrenching, brown eyes that used to be warm and twinkling with mischief now dull and devastatingly empty.

but there's recognition shimmering in them, and when dream reaches out the next time, wilbur stays still, allowing him to open the lock and tug the metal away from wilbur's wrists.

getting him up and out of the cell is a slow process, but in the end, they make it back up to the rest of the crew and together, they return to the smp in the last remains of darkness.

as their resident doctors, karl and bad are tasked with taking care of wilbur's countless injuries, and despite dream's protests, the two of them kick everyone out of the captain's quarters.

it's only in the evening that dream's allowed back, finding wilbur bandaged up and mostly awake in his bed.

they talk for a long time. about what happened, how they can find wilbur's ship and crew. about their families and their friends and why the sea makes them happy.

they fall asleep next to each other, wilbur's hand carefully held in dream's own.

two days later, they find the l'manberg in the hidden cave wilbur described to them, and the reunion between the captain and his crew even makes george cry.

dream and his crew come to the unanimous decision to stay.

that night, dream burns his permit from the king before stepping up to the bow of the ship, joining his new captain.

tommy is so “what have you done to me?” while techno is so “why would you do this to me?” tommy will always be helpless to fight against those bigger and stronger than him while techno will always demand an answer and retribution for the sins taken against him.

to me, bedrock bros is “I’ll never forgive you for what you did to me, but I’ll always come running when you call” from both sides

Lauren stared at the letter in her hands.

It was from Scott, which was nice. It had been a while since Scott had contacted her, although she didn’t blame him as the last time someone had hijacked a server he lived on before third and last life was not the best don’t think about it, don’t think-. Still, it was nice to hear from her brother once in a while.

The letter looked official, fancy.

Dear Player,

You're being cordially invited to join Afterlife. Afterlife is a hybrid-only server, protected from any more recent events. – The Admin

She was slightly confused before noticing the note at the bottom.

Dear Lauren, I thought that you might like an invitation. The admin and I are friends and he agreed to invite you. I've missed you, and I hope that we can talk more.

The Worst, Scott.

She laughed at the old joke. Then she remembered the recent events mentioned in the letter, and she abruptly stopped. She'd seen the news recently, and she had promptly avoided public servers, opting to stay home. She was hesitant at first before quickly writing her reply, and getting ready. A safe space would be nice, and much safer than her small private world. What could go wrong?

Absolutely true! To be fair though I think there are some actual differences between their wins that people are kind of conflating into this.

It was out of character for Joel to do that (he's usually a lot more chaotic and violent) while it's not for Scott. He plays like that in every season except for his widower arc in 3L so people don't notice it as much. I think there's also a tonal difference between Joel's Wild Life and Scott's Last Life. Joel's WL is lighthearted and silly and c!Joel is having fun pretty much the whole way through. LL Scott still takes things seriously. Even when he's making friends rather than enemies, he's doing it from a strategic and somewhat moralistic (considering he calls himself honorable for this) point of view, and he understands and accounts for the implications of what everyone else is doing, where Joel is in his own little world a lot of the time.

I think that's more the difference. Scott was the first person (and still probably the only one) to defy the watcher's plans, but WL Joel--and Gem, she does this too--are the first people to really, consistently treat their deathmatch like a game

In the amce space au, while L'Manberg is Manberg, Tubbo and Fundy and Sapnap end up spending a month and a half or so on the the Dreamon's Hunter chasing after a faction of pirates that have kidnapped Dream, hijacked Dream's ridiculously high tech spaceship (the Nightmare's Spirit, horse pun intended), and is using it to terrorize people in SMP space. Bonding experience.

Currently reading: Two things! I am Re-reading the "Mistery Best Friends", is a fanfiction series with the pairing of Wirt from Over the Garden Wall and Dipper from Gravity Falls xDD It's cute how awkward they are but there is mystery to solve too.

The other one is the book "Debt: The First 5,000 years" by David Graeber, is about the history of money and debt and the few myths surrounding those. I'm far from finishing this, i have to read very slowly to make sure i understand it and i don't like that i can read fanfiction faster than reading other books xD

Current obsession: Hijack and c!fundy. My notebooks and obsidian vault is full with little ideas and drabbles of different Au's i have for frostcup, mostly the His Dark Materials AU and th Doctor Who AU.

With c!fundy, with every new media and au i go, he follows me. So of course i have made an Au where he finds a way to escape the smp and arrives to the archipielago of Httyd. (Beacuse it's that or keep drawing him after the betrayal of eret and wilbur abandoning him >:') )

**For the people that don't know who c!fundy is, there was this minecraft server called Dream SMP, and one of the participants was a streamer called fundy who joined the rolplay of the smp as the son of a revolutionary man called wilbur. People made a lot of fanfiction and fanart of his minecraft character. The c! means character, to differentiate between streamer and rol character.

god and in the same conversation that niki, with the softest voice, said "i started baking again" with a hope we haden't seen in so long - jack said, voice tired and strained "i told him everything he did to me and he just shrugged it off as if it were nothing".

they both just wanted the other to be happy. she invited him to her city, she told him about the second chances that had treated her so kindly after so much hurt, she wanted him to let go of what she thought was the same misdirected anger that had just caused more pain.

but their anger wasn't the same, and the second chances that brought her people who valued her voice only got him hurt again and again and again, he couldn't let go. he desperately wanted to, he needed that closure she had, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't grasp it.

and as the ties strewn between them (born in anger and pain) grew thin with promises made to visit turning empty, with notions of second chances going fruitless, they both ended as far apart from each other as they could, one safe (healing) and the other gone (never able to heal).

[HITS THEM WITH A 2X4] this is also why it makes me feel insane in the membrane when people say that the syndicate was a bad choice for cniki bc like. she didn't spiral in the same way that jack did BECAUSE of the syndicate she had a support system that helped her grieve and process her grief but jack was alone!! he was alone!!! she literally managed to escape the narrative with the syndicate and he destroyed it completely. what if i died

This is the only thing I'm planning on saying on the topic on here, but in hindsight it's so depressing funny that during the DSMP days and not long after, I was getting quite annoyed with some of the people on the DSMP basically ignoring Tubbo in favour of Tommy, not paying attention to what direction he wanted to take the lore in, what character he was building, the things he was doing, etc., and just hijacking the story every time it suited them. Then once the DSMP ended, I still felt like that was often the case, one specific person literally only ever joining the call if Philza or Tommy was already in there as well, only to then act best friends with Tubbo while belittling him, and the other basically never talking to him, ever (despite talking positively about Tubbo for brownie points)

It drove me INSANE. It was one of the first things that tipped me off that they really weren't close friends behind the screens, because you don't treat friends that way.

And now it turns out that those specific people ignoring him was a good thing, because they both turned out to be incredibly manipulative assholes who used their mentoring role on Tommy to treat him like shit, and Tubbo's just like "Well, those assholes didn't affect me much because we never talked behind the scenes, and they certainly never initiated conversations" and it's just like...

Yeah, but they still treated you like shit, you're allowed to be upset about that. One of them still infantilizes you when you give him every benefit of the doubt you can, and treats you like you can't form an opinion without Tommy (once again), and the other would literally join call with you on stream while you were talking about something you were passionate on, and then twist your words, make you look like a bad or uninformed person that just doesn't care about the people around you, while simultaneously building himself up.

You confided in one of them (because they were the discord server admin) that other adults had shared pornographic drawings while you were in VC, and it made you uncomfortable, and years later that guy airs that fact despite you wanting to not bring that up. I'd be fucking pissed off.

And of course, I don't know Tubbo, I don't know how he treats these things behind the screen, I don't know how or even if he's dealt with it, and it's none of my business.

But that doesn't mean I'm not judging anyone who was there and let it happen.

The entire DSMP was a shithole, and honestly, a lot of the adults who were in it from the start were complicit in how this all went down, because how are you a content creator in a server with multiple underage boys and do you let these dynamics happen? How come these underage boys were the main ones getting criticized for every single slightly off-the-mark thing they did while we let the adults on the server get away with so much more. How come those underage boys were the only ones addressing problems like the misogyny on the server?

The only reason we as fans didn't/couldn't call out seemingly weird behaviour that we saw on stream was that we had to assume it was getting resolved behind the screen and we had no direct lines to them to ask. All the adults on that server had the direct lines, they knew what was going on, they were present. Yet none of them thought to check in on each other?

I want to continue enjoying Tubbo's content and just move on from all of these issues, but then I watch as streamers like badboyhalo, and captain puffy, who were present for all these issues are still thick as thieves with Dream and I just seethe. Because between the racism, sexism, ableism, and horrible treatment of minors on a server he claimed responsibility for, does it really matter if the grooming allegations are also true? How far does it all have to go until they say "enough"?

I seriously hope that SMP's as a whole learn to be better about internal communication, but that's honestly too high of a bar. However, when it comes to minors on SMP's that are majority 20+, we need to be a lot more critical in the future. Just having one Philza-type who tries to protect the minors is not enough, every single fucking adult in spaces that allow minors needs to be careful with their actions. That's just the reality of non-18+ spaces.

I am only a few months older than Tubbo, and like he expressed himself in his stream, a lot of things that seemed okay when we were 17 don't seem as acceptable anymore. Looking back on it, I wasn't "parasocial" enough, I should've called out the weird stuff when I saw it because clearly nobody else was doing it.
