The source of the video game bleeps and bloops in media
Have you ever wondered what the source of those specific video game bleeps and bloops were from? Odds are if a show or movie had a character play a video game or if a scene takes place in an arcade than it's very likely that it uses the same distinct sound effects that originally were sourced from the Atari VCS (2600) ports of Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. These ports are already historically important with Donkey Kong being one of the few Nintendo games to be released on non-Nintendo hardware and Pac-Man being one of the most anticipated releases for Atari at the time. Today these ports are often mocked for how butchered they are to the arcade originals but at the time these were fine ways to experience these arcade games at home.
So why are the sounds from these arcade ports used so often in media? You can pretty much thank the widespread use of a particular sound effect library and in this case the Series 1000 Sound Effects Library which initially released on tape in 1979 and released on CD in 1983. A good chunk of this library contains the same sounds found on another sound library called the Network Sound Effects Library.
The Series 1000 library however includes audio recordings of gameplay from these Atari games. Ever since then, these sounds have been used for many years and continues to be used to this very day. Before I showcase some examples of media using these sounds I would like to present the recordings from these games. The following is sourced from the Series 1000 Sound Effects Library which feature sound effects from Atari arcade ports.
If you're familiar with these ports than you can make out the specific sound effects present from these recordings. The distinct walking and jumping sounds in Donkey Kong and the dots being eaten and game over sounds from Pac-Man are the more identifiable sounds you hear. With this in mind here are a handful of examples of these sounds being used in media.
(Note: Due to Tumblr restricting one video per post I have compiled all the example clips in a single video so feel free to read below for the specific sound bytes used whilst the video plays.)
Arthur (1996)
The season 1 episode "Arthur Accused!" has Buster investigating an arcade which features sounds from Pac-Man as it eats ghosts and a faint sound of Pac-Man dying from a ghost.
Drake & Josh (2004)
The season 2 episode "The Bet" has Josh playing your typical video game but features several seconds of audio from Donkey Kong. Weirdly music from the Nintendo NES version of Tetris (Type-A specifically) can be heard when Josh is playing on his "handheld" which is clearly a red Game Boy Advance SP.
SpongeBob SquarePants (2007)
The season 5 episode "Atlantis SquarePantis" features a segment of Sandy in a retro inspired environment. The puzzle game segment features various cut up sound bytes from Donkey Kong including jumping over barrels and the walking sounds.
Chowder (2008)
The season 1 episode "Sniffleball" features a brief sound effect from Donkey Kong of Mario jumping over a barrel. (also what is this retro nonsense?)
Ted (2024)
The season 1 episode "Just Say Yes" features Ted and John playing Super Mario Bros. on the NES. For whatever reason no footage of the game is shown and the audio used is from, you guessed it those Atari games. Donkey Kong sound effects can be heard while brief snippets of Pac-Man can also be heard mixed in.
I could keep going but you get the idea. There are plenty of other examples you can find and I highly recommend checking out the Sound Effects Wiki if you're curious to see what other examples are out there. Linked below are the articles for the other sources for these Atari recordings.
Sound Ideas, ARCADE, VIDEO GAME - VIDEO GAME: ELECTRONIC SOUNDS, AMUSEMENT PARK, FAIR 01 Sound Ideas, ARCADE, VIDEO GAME - VIDEO GAME: ELECTRONIC SOUNDS, AMUSEMENT PARK, FAIR 02
I guarantee most folks nowadays aren't even aware that these sounds are from actual Atari games cause out of context they sound like generic bleeps and bloops. That's probably why it's so common to hear these sounds in media as unless you're a nerd like myself this is something you're likely not going to think about and I'd imagine the folks working with audio aren't gonna stop and think about where particular sounds come from outside of the library they're featured in.

Food & drink places we visited on our trip, September 2024.
Richmond, VA
The Answer: always a favorite of ours, love their beer and the Vietnamese food offerings. Seating was fairly normal for breweries (meaning not the most comfortable).
Raleigh, NC
Aunt Betty's Gin and Absinthe Bar: Highly recommend if you like cocktails/liquor. They have a lot of amari, and the bartender let me test some liquor that I had never tried, like Malort; she also gave me great bitters recommendations, and also made me realize how much I need Allspice Dram. Seating: comfy chairs/sofas, but lower to the ground.
Brewery Bhavana: Beer was decent but the Shanghai-style mooncakes were *chef's kiss*. The used bookstore/restaurant/brewery theme was interesting. Seating was fairly normal, not very comfortable.
Gas station in South Carolina
Oreo Coke Zero: I'd give it a 4/10
Atlanta, GA
A Mano restaurant: Highly recommend. We made reservations before our trip because they offered amaro flights, and their Italian menu looked delicious (it was). I had two flights, all amari that I have not tried previously. Seating was comfy.
Halfway Crooks Beer: A+ music, nerd rock that the husband and I loved). I wasn't as interested in the beer but the husband enjoyed them. The ambiance was great, really liked the feel, but seating was cheap/uncomfortable.
Big Softie ice cream: Well worth a side trip. Delicious with the cornflake crumble on top.
Birmingham, AL
Dreamland BBQ: The classic white bread and ribs. I ordered the Rib "sandwich" (spoiler alert: not really a sandwich) and it was very tangy. Seating was standard, not that comfortable.
Monday Night Brewing: Visited this place during a tornado watch (hurricane/tropical storm Francine came through). Very windy night. I really liked the Oktoberfest beer, had a bit of honey flavor. The food was pretty good, too (Mexican-ish). I liked that they were holding an event the night we went for women in tech. Seating was fairly normal, not very comfortable.
Hero Doughnuts: Recommend! They had apple cider donuts already! I got two, plus an apple fritter. The husband got the three filled ones. I am always on the hunt for great fruit fritters, with the right fruit/dough/crispiness/glaze ratio. Hero's fritter was pretty good, I give it 7/10. The apple cider donuts were better, though, and really tasty two days later (we took the donuts to go as we left Birmingham for Asheville). I could go on about my donut quest but I'll stop here.
Asheville, NC
Eda Rhyne Distillery: I insisted we go here once we got into Asheville, since I'm always on an amari journey. Had two flights of their spirits and purchased three: Amaro Oscura, Rustic Nocino, and Bitter Tooth. Eight tasters of hard liquor without any food other than a donut was a bit much, I haven't felt tipsy like that in so long. So we headed to
Burial Brewing Forestry Camp Taproom: for dinner (and ok, a cocktail for me). Delicious pastrami sandwich hit the spot. Seating was fairly normal, but at least not those terrible ice cream parlor-type chairs.
DSSOLVR: Seating was slightly more comfortable than the usual fare, and I liked the Emo Nightmare beer.
Wicked Weed: Final meal in Asheville was at Wicked Weed brewing. I had just one cocktail, husband had four half portions of their beer. I'd rather wax lyrical about their shrimp and grits omg it was so delicious (also too salty, but man, so delicious). Now I'm obsessed with making the grits with a roux-based gravy - I always forget how much I love grits.
(not pictured: the very Southern spread and drinks prepared by my friend when we stopped by to hang out at his house in NC - and thanks to him, I am now obsessed with peppadews).
Suffolk, VA
Decoys Restaurant: Cocktail was meh, something in it tasted spoiled to me. However, their crab and corn chowder was so delicious, I would 100% drive back there to have it again.
Sojourn Fermentory: We specifically stopped in Suffolk just to try Sojourn, because one of the owners is one of our neighbors, and owns a Taiwanese Street Food restaurant near us. I was sad they were out of their Asian Glow collab, but the beer was decent, and I liked their dark lager a lot.
Bonus items we brought back from the trip.

Dear Check, Please! and especially Nurseydex fandom. I just finished a book called The Unlikely Thru-Hiker by Derick Lugo that could've been written by a real-life Derek Nurse.
They are both biracial, hail from NYC, are metrosexual, care about their appearance and grooming, want to come off as suave and smooth but are actually hilarious in their interactions with other people, clumsy af, hella determined, good at making friends, but sometimes take a while to warm up to someone they don't understand right away, impulsive, love coffee, NOT a morning person, both are writers...Derick Lugo even spent some months in a friend's cabin so he could work on his book. And now he's seemingly moved to a rural area to continue writing. I mean....Help! I'm dyyyying!!!
Literally could turn the whole book into a nurseydex au where Derek hikes the AT and meets Dex somewhere like at a hostel he works at or smth. Anyway, I lost my whole shit and had to call my bestie to tell them all about it for like an entire hour, and the more things I mentioned, even more things clicked into place.
Oh my God, I forgot the best part! The best part is his trail name is - I shit you not - MR. FABULOUS!!!!!
Pleeeeeaaaase it is just too much! Would that not be EXACTLY the sort of trailname Nursey would get??
He even has a chipper friend named Overdrive who's got Chowder vibes. A hella chill dude named Mike. Very Shitty vibes for that guy IMO. And just... Goodness...
So if you have a hankering, I highly recommend the book, The Unlikely Thru-Hiker. It is excellent in its own right. But it also provides entertaining fodder for musings about Derek Nurse and Nurseydex.
#check please#derek nurse#nurseydex#theres a real life nursey you guys#the unlikely thru-hiker#derick lugo#in case its not clear the book is true story not fiction

Relationship Status: Single
Favorite Color(s): Green
Last Song I Listened To: Be Like That by Kane Brown
Song In My Head: I saw Fiddler on The Roof last Friday at the opera house and it was an amazing performance so of course I have had "If I Were a Rich Man" stuck in my head all weekend.
Three Favourite Foods: Caterpillar Roll (or some eel roll equivalent), Clam Chowder, Boiled Blue Crab (this is tough, i love so many foods but these are what i would kill a man for at the moment)
Last Thing(s) I Googled: I have no idea. I use DuckDuckGo and it doesn't save history. Highly recommend. But it was probably something mundane. I google a lot of things to confirm that my brain is correct either before or after I've said something. #ADHDbrain
Dream Trip: Right now i am so desperate for a beach trip and no one will go with me that I can't even contemplate something on a larger scale. But I have always wanted to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain. That would be really cool but my endurance is shit at the moment.

Title: WMMT4 - POCO to RIYA
On Oct. 23rd, 2013, after I've done playing Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 DX+ (WMMT3DX+), I decided to transferred all of my tuning cards from Wangan Maxi Tune 3DX+ into my BANAPASSPORT game card using the (first edition of) Wangan Terminal (WMMT4 update version).
• My first 3DX+ tuning card inserted was my (formerly named) "POCO-" because I want to change it to "RIYA★"! 😁 And now, THERE IT IS! RIYA IS FINALLY HAVE A (former) SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STi [GRB] 🇯🇵🚘🔧. The rest of my 3DX+ tuning cards are now transferred to my BANAPASSPORT game card, as well. 😄
• After that, I decided to play the WMMT4 arcade and continuing "Story Mode" for Riya's "former" IMPREZA WRX STi [GRB] is now "officially" FULLY TUNED (, at the time). 🇯🇵🚘🔧 Once I've done the story, her "former" Impreza is now FULL TUNED before battling up with Spot's IMPREZA WRX STi [GDB-C] ("SPOT★") in a online ghost battle. 🚘💥🚘🛣️
Riya 🐰🏎️: Yeah, at the time. But now, as I said, I've already gave my old IMPREZA to him by getting a much better IMPREZA GDB-F car as my "TRUE IMPREZA" car! 🇯🇵🚘🔧😁
More stories about Riya's "TRUE IMPREZA", then I very highly recommend that you have read her stories on these links. ↓

Senja Restaurant
For me and my hubs' 3rd wedding anniversary (Wow~! 3 years! Who'd've thunk??), we decided to try out the new restaurant at Kiulap area called Senja Restaurant.
Location: Kiulap area, the same building as the Baiduri Bank Kiulap branch and Le Taj
It was technically originally a hotel-exclusive restaurant in Riverview Hotel, but ever since the hotel kinda sorta went downhill in business, Senja had left the building, so to speak, and just recently resurfaced as its own standalone restaurant, so we definitely needed to give it a shot.
Setting: Quite steakhouse-ish kind of setting, definitely brighter and cozier than the one they used to have at Riverview Hotel
This lot they occupy to set up shop was originally Saffron, but apparently Saffron decided to move shop across the street of Seri Q-lap Mall, which was surprising since I thought it was doing pretty well. But hey, business is business, they come and go, it's all about the money
Steak knife is a little too big though
My super tall glass of chocolate milkshake
Looks and tastes absolutely frothy and delicious, just the way I like my milkshake to be
My appetizer of mushroom chowder (I think)
Very thick and creamy, lots of flavour in there. Every spoonful was a delight. Was tempted to add some more pepper in it, but it would ruin the perfection
My hubs' appetizer of grilled mushroom with stuffed cheese
Also very delicious, juicy as you bite into it, easy to cut through, and the cheese that just melts in your mouth is just to die for. The salad was great too. Doesn't have the bitter aftertaste that most salads have, which means it's pretty fresh and thoroughly washed. Can't remember for the life of me what the actual name of this dish is though
My hubs ordered their in-house steak while I ordered their black pepper steak with corn sauce. Our steaks basically taste the same, the only difference is that he has black pepper sauce for his dip, while my steak is already marinated and cooked in black pepper and the corn sauce is to compliment the spiciness (prolly neutralizes it, since I don't feel the overwhelming burning pepper sensation). Though maybe one of these days, I should consider having my meat medium well since while it tastes awesome well-done, it's also a little tough and a little hard for me to finish it in time for dessert.
Our dessert of chocolate mousse with whipped cream
We were afraid that one chocolate mousse wasn't enough for us to share, so we ordered one for each of us instead. The creaminess of the chocolate mousse was to die for. It was heaven in every bite, though you have to eat the whipped cream together with the mousse because this is one of those non-flavoured whipped cream. Eating it alone just leaves a weird taste in your mouth.
Again, you have to feel rich or have a fat wallet to go to this restaurant, but it is a perfect place to go to during special occasions. Highly recommended.

Hi! question I will be traveling to Sydney soon(this Sunday lmao I’ll be there for a week) do you have any recommendations? Tips? Good food ☺️?? Places to be weary of 👀🕵🏻♀️
Thank you in advanced i really appreciate any help ♥️
I have the the blue mountains in my list suggested by @DisillusionedMonster ✨
It depends on what you're interested in doing! We've been having a lot of train disruptions, you can keep track of them if you're using the train systems with the free train app (tripview).
I'd highly recommend going to Jenolan Caves and/or Wombeyan Caves, the caves are great and there are some short and easy walking tracks around them.
I'd also highly recommend doing some bush walks/nature walks, you can find some of the popular ones here (I've done Bradleys Head to Chowder Bay, America Bay, Henry Head, Lane Cove - I think Lane Cove is my favourite).
I'm not sure what to recommend in terms of food - avoid the tourist areas like Circular Quay and Darling Harbour? We have a lot of farmers markets and things if you're looking for fresh produce (here), a lot of great Asian food (according to my Dutch friend - you'll be able to look the best places up near where you're staying), or some cool vegan places (like Bad Hombres, which is really great all-vegan Mexican food ((South Western Sydney has a lot of great food too, e.g. Malaysian, Korean, Indian, Tongan - pretty much everything)).
I hope you enjoy your trip here!
#I only just saw this sorry!!#i'd avoid bondi tbh - giant tourist trap + there are plenty of other fine beaches#anon

Hii Ami!! Secret Santa here!! Happy Friday!! May your weekend be a long and restful one!! ✨
It was your friends birthday? Well, happy late birthday to them!! 🥳✨ you can never go wrong with Mexican food!!
Ooooo, you’re studying in Madrid? That’s so cool!! What are you studying, if you don’t mind me asking? I had a close friend study abroad in Spain for a semester and absolutely loved it there!! I totally feel you about wanting to move to London!! It sounds like a pretty nice place to live based on the things I hear about it. I remember when I was studying abroad, my friends and I planned our spring break trip to the UK for five days, but due to COVID, we got pulled from our program before we were even able to step foot on the plane there. So I still have that desire to visit the UK for that reason alone lol.
Same here!! I love sweet things, to an extent!! I don’t eat as much surgery things as I did when I was younger!! But when I do, cheesecake is the key to my heart!! Lol.
Thank you!! As of right now, all the owls are packed away from when I decorated my apartment for Christmas. After we introduce ourselves properly, I can definitely send you some photos of my prized ones!! They range from very tiny figures to relatively large ones!! I’m pretty proud of it!!
Lego does count as a collection item lol!! They’re so cool!! I really like the aspect of having to build them (that’s pretty obviously lol, but it truly is therapeutic in a sense!!). Hopefully one day, you can start that collection!! Is there one particular Lego set you would love to have?
Speed Round Answers: Movie/TV Shows? I wasn’t sure if you were asking if I preferred movies or tv shows lol?! I’d probably say tv shows because you can learn more about the characters and their stories through the lens of a series rather than their one dimensional aspects cut short for a movie!! Some of the most recent tv shows I’ve watched are Heartstopper, Young Royals, Wednesday (Netflix cancelled this show after the first season, and I will never forgive them for it!! It’s called The Society and I definitely recommend it if you haven’t watched it already!!) I’ve been rewatching a kids show named Chowder on Hulu for the nostalgia factor lol. Movies/books? Hmmmm… I like books, but I can appreciate a good movie!! I’d say the best book I read this year has been One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. I highly recommend it!! Who doesn’t love sci-fi lesbian strangers to lovers!!!? Fav. season? The transitional period between summer and fall!! To me, that’s just the perfect weather!! Not too hot or humid, yet not too cold!! Beaches/Mountains? I’d probably live by the beach because I went to college up in the mountains and when it gets cold, it gets cold!!! I’ll risk living around the sand than anything else. City/countryside? I’ve always lived relatively close to the city, but I think it would be nice to get away from it all. Have my own home in a nice large area. But not too big that someone could be living in my home and I wouldn’t know it lol.
Here are more speed round questions, my dear!! Do you have a favorite piece(s) of comfort clothing? (Sweater? T-shirt? Shoes?) What are three things you know you can’t live without? Do you play/enjoy any games (whether that be video games, board games, card games, etc). 🎄✨
Helloo! How is your weekend going? Mine's been fab yay!
I'm doing a dual master - an MBA with a master in business analytics. Why I chose insanity is still unclear, but oh well. It's been hectic but good so no complaints.
I'm so sad that you missed London coz of covid, but here's hoping you can make it there soon. ✨
As far as the Lego goes, i have a long-ass list of very random ones i want. So in no particular order- the entire city collection, the Harry Potter castle, the life-size r2d2 from star wars and the formula 1 Ferrari cars. Is it obvious yet that i love really random stuff? 😂
I love your speed round answers, and I'm putting one last stop on my Christmas read list. Fav clothing: nothing specific, just track pants and a tee / shorts if it's summer. Jeans if i need to be presentable. Three things i can't live without: ooh that's hard. My phone, an internet connection and my earphones. I love board games! Monopoly is a household favourite, as is Uno when we're traveling. Do you have a favourite board game?
More questions: I'm assuming you speak Spanish, but any other languages you speak or want to learn? Do you have celeb crushes? Comfort movie that you'd watch at any point? Do you have a favourite Christmas food?

uhh what are your favorites? for sea food and hikes/beach? thanks ^.^
All the good beaches AND seafood are north of Boston. In fact, avoid Boston altogether.
If you're looking for bonkers good seafood, I can't recommend The Causeway in Gloucester highly enough. Best clam chowder ever. My favorite dish is the haddock au gratin (if you get it, ask for extra sauce. It's so good). They also serve Pepsi, which makes them an automatic winner in my book.
If you're looking for beach views, stick around Gloucester. Wingaersheek Beach is one of the best, but if you keep driving through Gloucester, you'll hit the coastal road, which boasts some incredible seascapes. You can also drive down the coast via 127, which will take you through Manchester-By-The-Sea and Rockport, and eventually you'll spill into Beverly. From there you can hop on 128 to 95 (they become one in Peabody).
For hiking, I recommend either the Middlesex Fells Reservation in Stoneham (since you'll already be on 95) or Breakheart in Saugus (you can easily pick up Route 1 from 95). Further north is the Ipswich Wildlife Sanctuary, where chickadees will literally land in your hand like you're in a Disney movie.
If you're looking for more touristy stuff, definitely bop around Salem for an afternoon. Good luck finding parking, though. I recommend parking at Salem Hospital and walking 20 minutes into the center of town.
Most importantly, have fun and stay warm! The weather report will say one thing but the sea breeze will say another.

Getting To Know You Meme!
Thank you for tagging me @mossmuncher , love doing these
Rules: tag a few people you want to know better; make a new post, don't reblog!
Favorite Color:
Warm brown, but baby blue has a place deep in my heart
Currently Reading:
Trying to get back into reading with the three Dublin plays by Seán O'Casey. They're very well-written, and a good look into early 1900s Irish politics
Last Song:
Soap by Penelope Scott! I love all her music, the whole Hazards album is always in my head
Last Movie:
Crimson Peak. Amazing film, the costumes are so pretty and well designed. I like a bit of artsy exploration of abuse from time to time, so it was very fun for me
The scene where the ants eat the butterfly will haunt me forever
Last Series:
Our Flag Means Death! Watched it all the way through in like three days, now me and a friend are watching it together. I'm literally obsessed it's becoming a problem
Sweet, Savory, or Spicy:
Spicy 100%. If I have to take breaks from eating bc my tongue lost all feeling I'm having a great time
Coffee or Tea:
Recently started experimenting with coffee, but nothing beats a cup of tea and a pack of custard creams
Three Ships:
1. Stede/Edward bodyslammed me out of nowhere, I haven't thought about anything else in six days
2. Blunder. I am not immune to the gay magicians and their various disorders
3. Lonelyeyes. I could psychoanalyse why I love them so much to hell and back but I'm not on enough medication to handle it
First Ever Ship:
Listen I know last time I said it was Horrid Henry but I recently unrepressed some memories and turns out it was Gorgonzola/Chowder from the Chowder show. I was a deranged little man
Currently Working On:
Getting back into writing! And art. Generally trying to be more creative, and bring a bit more joy to my life.
Favorite Piece of Clothing:
This blue and black hawaiian shirt I got from a charity shop. It goes with everything, it makes me feel Gender, and I get tons of compliments whenever I wear it
Comfort Food:
Potato waffles. I could eat hundreds of them and not be satisfied, they're the holy grail
Favorite Time Of Year:
Mid-summer. I don't like being in the sun bc I burn really easy, but when it's completely dark but still warm enough to wear shorts and a tank top outside… I am at peace
Fave Fanfic:
A Little Vision of the Start and the End by Hereticality fucked me up so hard I'm not joking. One of my first Stobotnik fics, left me stranded by the road with nothing but clothes and tears. I wake up every morning and blow a kiss at it.
Their other Sonic fic is amazing too, if you're looking for something packed with longing and bittersweet feels I'd highly recommend!
Tagging @ninchecain and @heartshpedfx (no pressure to do it, y'all just seem very cool)

no one tagged me to do this so i’m showing up to this party unannounced & uninvited, but it seemed like fun so i wanted to do it
1. first fic you’ve bookmarked
Blueberry pie and your laugh by @17piesinseptember [zimbits, 1k, G]
i’ve talked about this fic before so if you’ve been following me for a while you’re probably somewhat familiar with it, but it’s a zimbits soulmate au where you have a specific memory of your soulmate, but it changes based on your decisions and life path. it’s super cute and sweet and my description of my bookmark on ao3 is “i read this on tumblr, i don't even know what fandom it's from or who the characters are or literally any context, but i loved it so much i had to bookmark it” and look where we are now.
2. a fic from an unusual pov
That Boy by @wrathofthestag [zimbits + alicia/bob zimmermann, 2k, T]
from alicia’s pov, this fic is adorable. it’s so charming and the pov is beautifully done. i love how supportive and excited alicia and bob are while trying to hide the fact that they’re losing their shit about jack and bitty getting together. this fic is just fun and refreshing and it’s one of my fav zimbits fics.
3. a comfort fic
dearest partner of greatness by pensgame [nurseydex, 3.5k, T]
(this category is so hard for me to pick for because there’s a lot of fics i could put here) i think i’ve read this fic, oh, probably about a thousand times. when i look through my bookmarks, i usually stop to read this, and it is so soft it makes me want to cry. i would recommend this to any person looking for one of the sweetest, softest nurseydex fics i’ve ever read.
[honorable mention: a lobster fishing caterer and a pretentious romance novelist by @maangoes]
4. a fic you wish could be a movie
we go eyes open, together by @halfabreath [holsom, 3.3k, M]
omfg. this fic. it’s a wild west au that i read a while ago but then i reread a couple of days ago and i’ve just kept opening it, reading it, losing my mind, closing it, and then repeating the cycle. i’m absolutely in love with the style and the tension and the pining and just. it’s so good. if there’s a sequel i will be Looking Respectfully. also i wanted to include a specific moment that i would love to see in a movie, but it’s literally just the whole thing.
5. a fic you have re-read multiple times
once more unto the breach by @ivecarvedawoodenheart [charmer, 1.5k, T]
(this is another category i could fill with so many fics) this is a charmer meet-cute from chowder’s pov and it is one of the cutest fics i’ve ever read. i really love charmer and i think it’s super underrated, and i’ve read this fic an embarrassing amount of times. i highly recommend it. it’s short and sweet!
6. free space
the best sort of plans by @ivecarvedawoodenheart [holsom, 1.5k, G]
holsom meet cute ugly wherein “justin is the falcs’ doctor and adam gets hit in the fact with a puck” (taken from the tags) i love the way the other characters are written (“[Shitty’s] real name is worse,” someone else says. She steps out from behind Eric’s back, dodging both Shitty’s elbow and his exclamation of hey. “I’m Larissa — Lardo — and the guy who just got beaned is Adam.” also “Oh my god, y’all,” Eric interrupts, checking his phone, “shut up.”) and this fic is a fun different first meeting for them! i like seeing the ways the characters are introduced and related in aus like these!
7. a fic you wish would have a sequel
(Gritty Not Included) by @greenishbucket [nurseydex, 1.5k, G]
i know i’ve talked about this fic in my other fic recs post but i. love. it. i think about this au probably like every month and it’s so funny. it’s also applicable to many categories, including but not limited to: a comfort fic, a fic you have re-read multiple times, and a fic that made you laugh out loud. it’s the BELOVED nurseydex au where nursey is inside the gritty costume and dex is both horrified and flustered by him. (absolutely no pressure tho if op doesn’t write a sequel.)
8. a fic with a ship that isn’t your main ship
happily hysterical by @himbolukecastellan [shitty/lardo, 1.7k, not rated but there’s nothing explicit]
(i guess given my url and p much everything about me my “main ship” is nurseydex so that’s what my standards are) this is a shitty/lardo wedding meet-cute and their dialogue/whole interaction in this fic is one of my favorite shitty/lardo interactions i’ve read. i’d read more fics in this universe because it’s really adorable and their back-and-forth is just wonderful.
9. a different meeting au
guard/hit/hammer by @halfabreath [holsom, 2.2k, G]
holsom olympics au!!!!!! i adore this au so much and this is also an au i would read a huge series of because it’s literally incredible. i absolutely love their flirting and how into each other they are, and this fic is just really sweet. (also i genuinely didn’t know biatheletes were a real thing i thought that was just a joke about adam being bi lmao.)
10. a fic that made you laugh out loud
Say my name, say my name by @omgchyeahplease [zimbits, 4.5k, T]
this is a hilarious misunderstanding from poots’ pov, and i saw it in someone else’s bingo which is why i read it in the first place. the misunderstanding and the moment where poots realizes what happened is so funny. the falcs are super well written, and i especially love this exchange: "Dude," Poots tells him, "I need you to not question this, but: do you know my first name?" Doc's mouth opens to answer. And then it hangs there. He's quiet. Then, accusatory, "Do you know mine?" this fic is great and i haven’t stopped thinking about it since i read it.
11. a fic based on a book/movie
and i’m so furious (at you for making me feel this way) by @rocketnebulas [nurseydex, 21k, T]
this is a harry potter au and even though it’s not based on a specific book/movie i’m including it because i can’t get a bingo if i don’t lol. i’ve recced this fic before but it’s a fun enemies to friends to lovers fic and also the ending confession scenes are some of my favorite confessions scenes. this au is really special and i’ve reread it more than once, when i feel like reading something longer.
#omgcp#check please#fic recs#nurseydex#dexnursey#zimbits#holsom#charmer#shitty/lardo#if i messed up an @ just lmk and i'll fix it!#there are other categories i could've filled but for the sake of time and the length of this post i didn't#also isn't it funny i have so many recs but i almost couldn't get a bingo#i tried to pick fics that haven't been in other fic rec posts (aka my non nurseydex fic recs)#sleep talk

I started watching Jellystone
I find it really good I feel like it's Hannah barbera's answer to the Looney tunes show characters completely out of their element and some of them even revamped and changed. I've seen people on Twitter talk about the gender swapping but I don't mind it and I really like how some people think the gender swapping is making these characters cannon trans is cool. It's made by the same guy who made chowder so if you like off the Wall comedy you'll like it too I highly recommend it.
Ps. Yogi gives off Homer Simpson vibes for the first three episodes It's actually kind of charming

Title: Riya's TRUE IMPREZA custom car look - No 2
Here yet another latest look for Riya's "TRUE IMPREZA". 🔧🚘😁
If you haven't seen "No. 1", then please [CLICK ME!].
• Last 2nd day of November this year, I decided to go once again at my current mall (SM City North Edsa), for another round meet up with my friend, Romulus907. And instead we've went to my usual arcade branch (Quantum Amusement), instead we've went to another direction, Denki Game Station at SM Annex North Edsa and played our current racing arcade (Wangan Maxi 5DXPlus).
• As I continued racing progress with her "TRUE IMPREZA" in Online Ghost VS Battle I encountered another Special G Armored Car once again as a 2nd time and it's no big deal to overtake / beat the same name (RICH) and the same course (Hiroshima Expressway) as from my previous ago. After beat up the Special G once again, her Shop Grade level gained 2. Unlocked new parts, browsing around items and I purchased the "Racing Stripe 2" with pink color, matching her personality and much like Spot used. 😉
Riya 🐰🏎️: Yes sir! That armored truck filled with G-coins is sure was a tough cookie, though... Hehe Nah, not really! 😅 But, I managed to beat it in a one-on-one VS Ghost battle! 😁 Also, I used to have "Racing Stripe 2" with pink color to matched my vehicle personality before it was removed when we transferred our data from "Wangan Maxi Tune 5DXPlus" to "Wangan Maxi Tune 6". *Sigh* Damn! I want that cool stripe included in the WMMT6, but we just have to earn more experience again by dishing out one or three ghosts in a VS Ghost battle! 😒 But hey, its alright. We just need to be strong and keep up, eh!? 😉💪 Anyways, I can’t wait to race it again, but I have some tasks that need to be finished. See ya! 👋😊
So for more stories about Riya's "TRUE IMPREZA", then I very highly recommend that you have read her stories on these links. ↓

Okay Statesiders, time to pass judgements and start fights.
Alabama: Lane Cake Alaska: King Crab Arizona: Cheese Crisp (WHAT. No. Sonoran Hot Dog!) Arkansas: Biscuits with Chocolate Gravy California: Mission-style Burrito (this is highly regional, I think it should be some specific forms of sushi, but I’ll let it slide) Colorado: Rocky Mountain Oysters Connecticut: White Clam Pizza Delaware: Blue Crab Florida: Cuban Sandwich Georgia: Peach Cobbler (come on Georgia you must have something less peach-based) Hawaii: Shave Ice (OH MY GOD what a snub to Spam Musubi, how dare you) Idaho: Finger Steaks Illinois: Italian Beef (AGREE) Indiana: Sugar Cream (aka Hoosier) Pie Iowa: Loose Meat Sandwich (I admit I am dying to try one of these) Kansas: Fried Chicken (I...how could you not say some form of barbecue?) Kentucky: Hot Brown Louisiana: Beignets (...not crawfish? Really?) Maine: Lobster Maryland: Blue Crab (uh, Maryland and Delaware gonna FITE) Massachusetts: Clam Chowder (I want to argue but I refuse to say Baked Beans) Michigan: Coney-Style Hot Dog (Detroit-style pizza is the correct answer) Minnesota: Hot Dish (you’ll regret it, but yes) Mississippi: Gulf Seafood (come on now, you can get a little more specific) Missouri: Gooey Butter Cake Montana: Pork Chop sandwich Nebraska: Runza (this looks amazing) Nevada: Prime Rib New Hampshire: Lobster Corn Chowder New Jersey: Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese New Mexico: Green Chile Stew New York: Pizza Slice (yeah ok sometimes you gotta play to the stereotype) North Carolina: Barbecue Pork North Dakota: Knoephla Soup Ohio: Buckeyes (you don’t HAVE to play to the stereotype, guys) Oklahoma: Fried Onion Burger Oregon: Marionberry Pie (Marionberry ANYTHING they are the BEST BERRY) Pennsylvania: Roast Pork Sandwich (I say no. I say either water ice, pepperoni roll, or anything ordered from a computer screen at Sheetz.) Rhode Island: New York System Weiner (THE CORRECT ANSWER IS A QUAHOG STUFFIE HAVE YOU NO GODS. Sci don’t even START ON ME about pizza strips) South Carolina: Frogmore Stew South Dakota: Fry Bread Tennessee: Nashville Hot Chicken Texas: Brisket (NO. KOLACHES. Texas Brisket is average at best. If you must have meat in Texas get smoked turkey from Rudy’s.) Utah: Utah Scones (these look amazing) Vermont: Sugar on Snow (have also long wanted to try this) Virginia: Country Ham Biscuits Washington: Dungeoness Crab (y so much crab, Chicago Tribune) Washington DC: Half Smoke West Virginia: Pepperoni Roll (maybe Pennsylvania can let WV have this) Wisconsin: Fried Cheese Curds (Wisconsin has so much to recommend it but realistically...yeah, it’s the curds.) Wyoming: Chicken-fried Steak (I feel like they must have given this to WY as a consolation prize becaus they couldn’t think of anything else. Wyomingites, weigh in, all 3 of you.)

❆ SEATTLE (ep12): quick lunch @ Pike Place Chowder
After browsing through the gift shop at the end of the Underground Tour, DL & I walked from . .. wherever we were to the Public Market.
Can you spot the ‘wide’ snowman? haha it looks so weird !
Anyway, the weather was ugly. I don’t mind snow; but this flurry stuff was really annoying. Especially with the hilly ground of Seattle, it was pretty scary in some areas. It wasn’t cold for us but ppl were wearing really thick winter attire, complete with beanies & boots. One thing of note is the humidity level. Bcos Seattle is so humid, the type of cold-ness is different than what we have in Alberta. But I also think it’s ppl-dependent. I would say I was in Alberta fall attire (I simply didn’t pack winter clothes), & I felt okay. Temperature-wise, it was actually perfect for me since I prefer cooler temperatures.
This wasn’t what I had imagined Pike Place Market to look like.. . Wet, gloomy, not a lot of ppl.. .
On top of the ‘sad’ appearance, the other downfall of the visit was the closure of many vendors/shops. This fruit shop was one of the few shop that was unbelievably stocked & open!
In case you weren’t aware, the Market is mostly indoors but along the Market, there are vendors that line & face the outside. Most of the aisles inside the Market look like this photo above; there wasn’t a distinction or ‘zones’ that sell specific types of goods. Next to a seafood vendor, there would be a bakery, for instance.
Exploring just a small bit of the Market bcos our primarily goal at this moment in time was looking for our lunch place. ..
Here it is: Pike Place Chowder!
Pike Place Chowder has 2 locations. Ours was located at: 1530 Post Alley.
Their achievements.
This place is the most popular chowder place around here so we had to give this place a try!
Shipping service :O
Let’s head inside! The location of Pike Place Chowder was (partially) inside a segment of the Market; more specifically, it occupied a corner location. However, there’s VERY limited seating inside & basically it’s occupied all the time. So you wait in line & order inside, then your order number gets called, & you grab your stuff, & head outside for a seat.
Menu.
It smelled SO good!!
While in line, DL & I were still deciding what to order bcos everything sounded so cozy & hearty!
Gahhhh >.< making a decision wasn’t easy. ..
Which was why we ended up with the ‘sampler combo’!
Samplers are great for those are have a hard time deciding! But for us, I think it was a matter of deciding & also bcos we wanted to try more flavours. We were on a trip & so it’s not a place we can regularly visit, therefore we need to maximize what we try.
The Sampler combo was already set. I’m not sure if they change the combo up every day / weekly or if it’s a permanent set, but the 4 we had included: seafood bisque, New England clam chowder, seared scallop, & crab, oyster, & chorizo. (Plus complementary buns)
The seafood bisque was my #1~ It was very rich & creamy. My only complaint was the fact that it contained shrimp with tails still attached. But the flavour was so soooo delicious~
The New England clam chowder - a classic. But other than that, I didn’t find it outstanding. It was a little bland.
Seared scallop was the #2 for me. Why? Bcos it had dill in it, so it had a nice zesty touch.
The last chowder that had a collection of ingredients, including crab, oyster, & chorizo. Although this one was the most flavourful, nothing really stood out. It had a slight hint of spiciness,. .. so think a spicy creamy chowder. I wasn’t enough to cause a kick; it was very subtle. But yeah, it was still tasty!
The table we sat at & my view (see DL’s arm in bottom right edge of photo).
Even though it didn’t seem like a lot of food, it was surprisingly filling bcos everything was so creamy haha I highly recommend coming to this place~
