is there something specific about cowboys , high noon , or the western / western gothic genre that draws you in ? 🤠

honestly! until recently the western theming wasn't even something i leaned towards outside of the humble 'howdy' 'yeehaw' or 'ya'll' thrown into my speech for fun... i think the biggest factor for my piqued interest into particular western themed characters has been my interest with horror and gothic imagery, media, etc. which ties in with the more niche western gothic.

so i suppose it was the skinline thematic itself which drew me in; the aftermath of the end times, and the world that followed after. what happens if hell is real, devils and demons a constant threat, and if this was all set in a time of developing technology that destroyed the very land and it was dug out from.

but... i think im just easily obsessed with edgy lonely brooding characters and they keep wearing large hats and speaking with a drawl recently 🧍‍♂️

my eyes hurt too much to look at google docs so instead i made a maybe controversial tier list of talon skins using @lcathia 's list.

extra opinions below, just cause:

high noon and enduring blade are so smooth to use in game (enduring especially, even if the model's a bit crusty) but most of all i love how thematically it gives talon so much room to breathe. like the amount of kicking off points and extra headcanons both these skins spawn for me is soooo good and there's so much story potential. i like high noon a little more (cowboy bias) but enduring screams autism to me so i love them both. (also enduring sword talon can be mashed together with obsidian dragon sett so)

withered rose talon is a smooth skin but his splash looks way too much like kayn for me. and his thematic is a little shallow. in game he's cute though and he's got that one chroma with the collar. dragonblade talon is underrated and (most) of his chinese chroma splashes are sooo cute.

talon blackwood is cute in and out of game but i don't like fantasy/dnd much. (scream)

ssw talon is just a stand-in until talon gets an actual modern verse skinline.

i dont even know what this next skin is called i always call him homeless talon. he's ugly but if im jungling then its the one i use. ugly ass.

i think this is controversial but i dont like blood moon. snow moon is cooler and i think talon would be there instead if he didnt already have one, but i dont like bm much as a thematic. and i think this skin is ugly, he looks like a frog. (??? how? i dont know.) something about prestige high noon's pose fucks with me, though the quality of the splash is insane. i dont like his head and i miss when he had the undershirt. prestige icon is cute tho. and then crimson guard.... crimson elite(??) talon... idk, what is there even to say.

dude the primal ambush icon is soooo cute to me and i looove the idea that he gets to be in the catboy spotlight but man this was such a miss for me. thematically SO shallow, and the splashart looks a lil funky imo. his hair being the same color as the fluff on his cape implies that he used his own hair to make it and his hair is so fucked the way it sticks up like that. armblade design was cool i guess but i dont like the colors of the whole thing and it was such a letdown for me. idc im a hater, if you liked it then im happy for you.

oh and i know this isn't a Real skin or anything but..

i think akali is very interesting given how independent she is and irelia's own conflict when it comes to finding her own way

at the same time i think riven could be interesting because of her being noxian and regretting what she did, i have so many issues with how that's developed in canon. i guess i'd be interested in exploring it differently, but idk how interesting that would be because i simply don't find it believable irelia would forgive someone who had such a big role in the invasion

also yasuo could be interesting maybe? given rito wants to place him as a defender of ionia and irelia's line to him being kind of about him staying and fighting idk

i think it's always interesting to have her interact with other leaders. noxians excluded, the different perspectives and situations in their respective countries can make it fun

also rell. rell could be adopted and freed of the noxian stain she already hates noxians we're halfway there (no but i sincerely think they could bond over hating noxians and also that it could be so good to have rell be influenced by someone whose magic is not a burden, especially considering the similarities in their magic)

honestly for other verses i'm just always happy to interact with people writing in other verses asjnfksjfn i can't think of anything too specific. i love music verse and i love star guardian and i love spirit blossom and i have verses for those even if irelia doesn't have skins, but i really like odyssey and high noon too. i like immortal journey, but i have a hard time writing in that verse tbh

for ahri

canon ahri is more difficult because of how she is in canon. lore-wise she doesn't exactly have a role that connects her to other stories. her story does make it super easy to put her anywhere to interact with anyone as she looks for the vesani, but there are no strong ties generally speaking

the ruined king champions are the exception, i think, and it would be interesting to interact with any of them. MF and yasuo stand out

but i think pyke is particularly interesting. the sense of kinship they end up finding due to their monstrous natures (regardless of the different form that monstrousness takes) is so!!! i love that. i think their relationship is really interesting

hwei purely because he has a line about her about her artist lover and oof

the dilemmas about their origins and finding a sense of belonging make me think her interacting with shyvana could be nice

xayah! with how strongly yayah feels about wild magic and the first lands belonging to the vastaya and fighting for them etc ahri just not connecting with that could make it fun to explore

From what crumbs Riot has given us about Yasuo’s High Noon skin pre the revamp of the skinline to include Southern Gothic aspects, it ties with his original lore pretty closely: A man trying to outrun the sins and the guilt he carries on his back. But with the introduction of Yone into the universe things tend to shake up a little bit more. So for my interpretation of the two:

A tale of two brothers heading west for new opportunities, nothing unheard of for those migrating across the eastern settlement. But to leave the humble little town their mother had settled in along with the ranch they’ve known since they were kids, it hadn’t come as a surprise for Yasuo to be the one setting out on his own first. Only for Yone to follow suit out of growing concern to protect his only sibling. So out west they went.

As time went on, the two made themselves a little life catching odd jobs in every town they stopped in through their travels. Wasn’t a fruitful life but it was what they could consider comfortable as they went about their journey westward. All this until Yasuo manages to catch the eyes of a few folks that weren’t too keen on the two brothers strutting into town. 

Something that Yasuo always found comfort in was the saloons in each stop of their journey, this was no different. Settling in at one of the many wooden tables among the rest of the patrons before a bottle of rum was placed on his table. Much to Yasuo’s detriment, he’d managed to settle himself exactly where a few of the regulars had carved their names into the edge of the heavy oak, and they weren’t too fond of finding the cowboy in their rightfully claimed abode. What results is a fight between the four of them, at first the snide comments turning to shoving and chairs being pushed over. Escalating further when one smashes a bottle against a table and threatens Yasuo with it, something he never took kindly to. And as the wild and reckless little brother he’d always been, Yasuo shoots first. The saloon erupts into more chaos then as the man lay bleeding and clutching the wound dealt by Yasuo’s trigger happy finger. Before long Yasuo’s gone, taking off through the Saloon doors and past Yone as he races towards the source of the chaos.

It makes Yone skid to a stop, kicking up dust and dirt as his body snaps towards the direction Yasuo ran. Men pour out from the Saloon and past him as Yone divides their numbers like a rock parting a stream, legs heavy as he watches onward. Questions racing through his mind until he’s shouldered roughly by another man who tells him Yasuo’s getting away. That’s when Yone moves, racing through the stampede after his own flesh and blood in order to grab him, set him straight, find out what happened and why he did it. But he never does quite make it to him.

Yasuo, who had been quick witted enough to cut a horse free from its post, climbs upon the beast’s back and hikes the reins high before snapping them harshly. Setting off galloping straight out of the town and kicking up the dust of regret in his escape. There’s a moment, as he braces himself low against the saddle, where he rears his head back over his shoulder to watch as they try to shoot him. Finding Yone, standing among the very men that now wanted him dead, still as can be, unbelieving that this is the thing that severs the tie between them. Yasuo squeezes his eyes shut when he turns to face the horizon as he snaps the reins once more. 

Yone never finds him again after that.

Hi hi! I recently watched your league skinline tier list video and I was quite surprised about some of the rankings that certain lines ended up in. Now that certain characters have gotten graphical updates since then, (Mostly Caitlyn) would your rankings change for any of the skin lines? (This is basically just about High Noon because damn old Sheriff Caitlyn was bad)

I mean, probably not for High Noon because it still has Alistar and Cassiopeia in it. And I'm sure someday I'll do another such ranking stream and we'll see if anything's shifted, things usually do over time

(which makes some people unreasonably angry lmao, essay length comments calling me a hypocrite for feeling differently about a design three years after my initial reaction)
